Combining cinematic photo-real 3D graphics and leading-edge anatomy and paleontology, CLASH OF THE DINOSAURS peels back the skin, muscles and bones to show how they survived in such a violent world. The four-part special premieres on Discovery Channel with double-stacked episodes Sunday, December 6 at 8PM E/P, and concludes Sunday, December 13 at 8PM E/P.

CLASH OF THE DINOSAURS reveals some surprising insights into how the world's greatest animals really worked. Carnivores were animals engineered for the sole purpose of hunting and killing prey. A Tyrannosaurus Rex could grow to be 18 feet tall and over 40 feet long, with jaws designed to tear flesh to shreds. While it had a reputation for violence and terror, the T-Rex is actually thought to have had a large brain capable of complex behaviors, especially when it came to parental care. It is thought to have been one of the most nurturing of all dinosaur parents, spending months caring for its eggs and defending its nest to help ensure the survival of its offspring.

For plant-eaters, protecting themselves against the carnivores meant evolving into some of the most well-armored animals in history. Herbivores of the Cretaceous period were built to take on the biggest teeth and sharpest claws nature has ever produced. But one herbivore was specifically designed to kill. The Ankylosaurus, at 30 feet long and four tons, had a tanklike body with three layers of armor and a head so well protected by thick bone that not even an adult female T-Rex could inflict a deadly bite. Even its eyelids were made of bone. The Ankylosaurus also had a powerful offensive weapon - a tail that could snap more than 45 degrees in either direction with a bony mass at the end, like a built-in sledgehammer. It could pack a punch powerful enough to shatter the leg bones of almost any predator - no matter how big.

Do You Need A Theme For Your Party?

So, you want to have a party that will make you a legend among family, friends or even strangers. You want people to say, "Dude, great party! I'm going to tell my children and then my grand kids about this awesome event that you have bestowed upon me and my fellow partygoers."

Okay, you get the idea. But where do you start? The answer is throw a "Theme Party." It is a great way to tag or identify your party to make it stand out from the weekly barbeque, and it will certainly be the topic of conversation come Monday morning at work.

Here is an idea for costumes and a party theme. Why not go prehistoric? That's right, caveman and cavewoman costumes. Could you imagine your family and friends dressed as one of the Flintstone characters or like Raquel Welch from the movie "One Million Years B.C." or how about the Geico cavemen, Captain Caveman or their own prehistoric creations? There is a lot of leeway and prehistoric costumes are very cheap. The cool thing is when you buy a costume you get to keep it and use it again for another occasion, such as Halloween, a play, that video you been wanting to make or just sitting around watching TV.

Cave people didn't use plates. That is probably true. But for your gala it might be a good idea to have plates. If you go full prehistoric, the guacamole might be hard to get out of your carpet. Party goods and supplies such as plates with an "Ice Age" theme could add to the experience.

Prehistoric movies could enhance the mood by being displayed on your big screen. Movies like "Caveman" with Ringo Starr and Shelley Long, "Quest for Fire" with Ron Perlman and Rae Dawn Chong, "Valley of the Gwangi" with James Franciscus, or "Clan of the Cave Bear" with Daryl Hannah. There is a plethora of classic prehistoric movies that you can select for this purpose.

How about playing a prehistoric game. You can play party games like re-enacting the invention of music, a scene from the movie "Caveman" or "Pin the tale on the woolly mammoth" or "Caveman karaoke" or "Who's that caveman in the closet?" Of course, this game might prompt your 10-year-old to ask, "Why is Uncle Harry dressed as Raquel Welch from the movie "One Million Years B.C.'?" There are also prehistoric board games such as Dino-opoly or video games such as Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs for Wii to keep the kids busy.

Name your food such as caveman surprise, bronto burgers, dino dogs or fried pterodactyl just to add a bit of pizzaz to the menu.

To sum things up. A party theme is fun. It gives your guests something to remember and talk about for years to come, not to mention the pictures and the videos that will appear on the World Wide Web, so let your imagination go wild.

First of all, there is a lot of walking involved. A little excercise never hurt anybody. But you will notice that your brain is getting excercised too. That is always a good thing. An active brain keeps us young.

Second, it is a great family day trip and it is inexpensive to visit a museum. That is always a welcome benefit.

And third, there is so much to do. Not only are there wonderful exhibits, many are interactive and they get you involved in the experience. Some museums have sleepovers, some have fossil digs, some show movies like 'Night at the Museum'. Some have dinosaurs that walk amongst the crowd.

To sum up. Dinosaur Museums are good for the body and mind, they are cheap fun with a lot to do.

Are Presidential Term Limits Prehistoric?

The answer is no. Presidential term limits are always a good idea. It allows for change and new ideas and keeps us from becoming stagnate as a nation.

Do I think we should consider changing the current 2 (4 year) term limit?

Yes or at least put some thought into this question.

Consider this. After a 2 year drawn out campaign listening to the rants of the far left and the far right we finally elect our President to a 4 year term. He or she are in office only two years before this process starts all over again.

I feel like all parties involved don't get any work done and are busy jockeying for position to try and win our votes for the next election. This results in a lack of bi-partisan cooperation and the President is forced to take his/hers party's side.

It is my opinion that our country would best be served by electing our President to a 1 (6 year) term instead of the current 2 (4 year) terms. This allows the President more time to work for the American people without having to worry about getting re-elected.

Tyrannosaurus - means 'terrible reptile'

Tyrannosaurus - When we think of prehistoric monsters this famous theropod dinosaur comes to mind. This creature was a carnivore that lived 75-65 million years ago. It grew to a length of 40 feet and it had a jaw that could be 4 feet long with a gape of 3.3 feet wide. The unlucky animal that was lunch would be held in a vise like grip by many big serrated teeth. When the animal was dead Tyrannosaurus would swallow, not chew, 154 pounds of meat. If that doesn't scare you then think about this. I weigh 164 pounds (remove my head to make me 154 pounds) and that means I could be swallowed in one gulp. But, fortunately for me, Tyrannosaurus did not survive the great extinction event that occurred on this planet 65 million years ago.

Liopleurodon - Meaning 'smooth-sided tooth'

Liopleurodon - At 82 feet (25m) long, this was the biggest marine predator ever. It's four giant flippers flapped with alternate strokes to propell it through the shallow Jurassic seas 160-155 million years ago. This carnivore had a strong long jaw with needle sharp teeth and was capable of killing anything in the sea at that time.

Andrewsarchus - Meaning 'Andrews Beast'

Andrewsarchus lived 40-35 million years ago, was taller than a man and reached sizes up to 18 feet long. This made it the largest carnivorous land mammal in history. Although huge with sharp teeth, it was slow and probably did not hunt. Fossil evidence found in Mongolia suggest that it lived a solitary life scavenging for food along riverbanks and lake shores.

This beast looked like a wolf but was very closely related to hoofed animals such as pigs, deer, camels and cows.
