That's right ... for only $5 you can have full access to the Internet from departure to arrival. We plan to stay at a flat rate of $5 for all flight lengths and device types (laptop or handheld) as we continue to add to our growing number of WiFi-enabled aircraft.
You already know that we're very pro-birth control at Cosmo. We've run articles like how to make using condoms more fun. We spoke up when the cost of oral contraceptives went up. And we were the first magazine to write about the Pill, when no one else would touch the subject because it was too controversial. In fact, Cosmo Editor in Chief Kate White was recently honored at a gala celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the Pill. Cosmo received the award for "Excellence in Contraceptive Reporting".

So we're always interested to hear about possible new birth control options. That said, we're still a little hesitant about the latest one to be getting some buzz: contraceptive gel.
The gel, which contains hormones similar to those in some birth control pills and is rubbed on the skin daily, is in the very early trial stages.
But to be clear—this is far from being approved by the FDA, and only 18 women were part of the study. So there’s not nearly enough info to convince us that it’s a good safe option. Still, we thought you’d be interested to hear more about it and how it works. Here’s the deal: It’s called Nestorone and it’s a lotion-like birth control. It’s meant to be rubbed on the stomach, arms, or thighs, and it supposedly doesn't rub off, according to an article in the BBC. The same report claims that it can be used when breastfeeding (unlike oral contraceptives is isn't associate with weight gain or breakouts.
Well, that all sounds great. But we're still having trouble getting over the gel aspect of it. Especially after reading the New York Times post on hormone creams rubbing off on others. They reported this week that pets of women who use creams to combat menopause symptoms are licking or rubbing up against the owner's skin and having serious health problems. The article also states that animals aren't the only ones at risk. Anyone who rubs against the area could be exposed to the hormones. Yikes. If Nestorone is approved, we'll definitely want to know that hooking up with a guy and rubbing against his naked body won't put him in danger.
We'll keep you posted on Nestorone gel as more tests are done.
What do you think of contraceptive gel? If it were approved, would you try it? Have you ever had a bad experience with a form of birth control?

The Information Station

A nickname I got back in elementary has stuck with me through the years, The Information Station.
