Sarreh naman, antagal kong di nasundan ang Palawan series ko that it overlapped na with my Bohol trip. Hohoho. So naturally, I can't start my Bohol series without ending the Palawan series yet. Promise I will finish the latter this month!

Puerto Princesa Trip - City Tour

After checking in and resting in for a while, we headed out to have our Puerto Princesa City Tour.

As I mentioned on my intro, the package we got only included one tour - that is the Honda Bay Island Hopping. Not Underground River Tour. Not City tour.

But since we'll be doing the Island Hopping on the 2nd day, I figured we should have an activity on the first. Para sulit ang stay. I considered visiting the Underground River, because as they say, you cannot go to Puerto Princesa without going to the Underground River, blahblah. But unfortunately, the time will not permit us. Whole day dapat iyon, as in madaling araw ang start because it's far away from the city (2 hour drive). So we opted to take the City Tour instead, less jam packed pa ang aming stay. Babalik na lang kami ulit para sa Underground River naman (promise ni V yan, haha)

Anyhooooo… we I decided that we DIY our city tour, less expensive kasi #gustongjowakoyan. The hotel's city tour package rates at 600 php per person, 1200 php for the both of us, ong mohol do bo? So what we did was we rented a tricycle instead (with Manong driver as our tour guide) and agreed to pay 700 pesos only. But, sa ka-isdaan ko, 800 ang naibayad namen. Pakker. Good thing, kuya is very friendly and supportive sa aming pagtotour. He always volunteers to take pictures of us, haha. I guess bawi na rin #tryingtomakejusticeoutofkaisdaan

When I saw this poster, hindi ako naattract :( Naawa ako. I'm not a vegetarian, I eat meat. Pero wala lang, the picture of the crocodile selling itself saying "I come in sausage, tocino, tapa, etc" parang nakakaawa lang. Haha. #emotera

Baker's Hill

Baker's Hill is the home of baked goodies in Puerto Princesa. Yes, they are good! We bought their famous hopia (which comes in ube and mongo flavor which also comes in pork oil and vegetable oil) and some other delicacies as pasalubong. The mini-park inside is so cute. Filled with Filipino made sculptures of Disney cartoon characters and since it was December, Santa was there too.

All the birds here are not real, they are hand-made! Nice! :)

A friend told me that we HAVE to try Baker's Hill's halo-halo. Good thing we were there meryenda time, tomguts na talaga kami kaya sakto itey. At first glance, the Razon's halo-halo and theirs look alike. Haha. The taste is almost the same too, except that MAS MASARAP ITOOOO. Haha! V even joked about going back there on our 3rd day (kung may time pa), he loved it too. When we come back for the Underground River, we will definitely eat here again. One large halo-halo costs 95 pesos (if i remember it right), sooper sulit.

After that, we headed to the Butterfly Garden. The butterflies were almost scarce that you might as well call this place the "garden", hehe. Anyways. We spotted some (thankfully):

We also visited Binuatan Creations.

The people here are pros! Super fast the hands, it's as if they don't have to think of what arm or leg to move next , it was like pure instinct. Kalerkey.

Naki-experience ako, but no can do. Lugi negosyo sakin. Hahaha!

They have a store here, too, where they sell these carefully handwoven materials as wallets, trays, notebook covers, bags, etc. Nice!

We intended to head straight to Baywalk, but we were already dead tired. So we went back to the hotel first to get some rest and went to Baywalk at dinner time.

Merry Christmas Palawan!

Puerto Princesa's baywalk is very much similar to Manila's. Except that there, food chains / carinderias are allowed. Hmpf. I miss the lively Manila Bay. #sanaibalikna

We had our dinner on one of the food stands there *street style, yeah* and headed home after a verrrryyyyy long yet fun-filled day. Sooper sulit this city tour. ^_^

Puerto Princesa Trip - A&A Plaza Hotel

Before anything else, I would just like to say that although the flights (back and forth) were delayed, I'm glad we were booked to AirPhil Express (although the voucher said Zest Air). Our first flight was really smooth, contradicting to the comparisons I've heard between AirPhil and CebuPac. Well, I haven't tried CebuPac yet, but my experience in AirPhil was good enough for me. Basta hindi ako na-trauma, okay na ko dun. Bow.

The voucher also said that we will be staying in Kookaburra Lodge. But by some sort of luck, the e-travel docket said that we were reserved to stay in A&A Plaza Hotel. Luck, because I've honestly never heard of Kookaburra Lodge before. On the other hand, I have a friend who's been to A&A Plaza Hotel and I heard no negative feedback about the place from her. So mas bet ko na ito.

Upon landing, I was worried about what sign board I'm going to look for. Will I look for the hotel's welcome signboard? Or should I look for Ensemble? Haha! Good thing, I immediately saw A&A's. I actually didn't expect them to be our sundo, I was just going to ask if they are -- or if not, maybe they knew how the freak we're going to get there. Haha! But honestly, I was not expecting any special treatments since what we availed was for a promotional price only. But to my delight, aba, my name was on the list! Haha! *ako na ang di mapaghangad* We were directed by the driver to a van on which we waited for other A&A customers. Three couples kameng sinundo pala. Ang cute, lahat pala kami nag-avail nung deal. Haha! *oo, nakita kong may hawak silang printed travel docket*

Sharing time : Our flight was scheduled early morning, so I had worries if they will allow early check in. If not, will they let us leave our things while we roam around the city, will our things be safe? If yes, will they charge us additional fees? Thanks sweetness, the travel agent whom I was exchanging e-mails with texted me the night before our flight. It impressed me because he also sent reminders ekek and told that I could text him before or during the tour if I have questions. So I asked him about the early check in trouble I am having. Aba'y kamukat-mukat mo, hindi na nagreply?! Very sweet. Grr.

Buti na lang, libre ang early check in (as long as your room is already available). Swerte namen ni V because out of the three couples na sinundo, yung room lang namin ang available na agad. Waiting pa sila. Hehe.

To sum up my experience in this hotel : The location is perfect. A few minute drive from almost everything - airport, restaurants, kapitolyo, palengke, etc. Customer Service is great. The staff are always smiling and the receptionists are accomodating. They also have a scheduled room service every morning where they will offer to clean your room and replace the sheets and towels if you would want to. The room is neat, but we can hear the neighboring room's sounds with clarity, haha. Maybe the walls are too thin and not sound proof, I hope they can improve on that. WiFi signal is perfect even inside the room, which I liked. The food served during breakfast is okay, nothing special. Good thing is that it's served buffet style, at andami nilang choices ha.. bawi na sila dun.

I'll rate this hotel 4 out of 5. Minus one lang kasi naturn off ako sa naririnig nameng sounds from the other room. Hehehe. :)

Puerto Princesa Trip - Introduction

Last December 2011, le boyf and I went to Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. That was our first airplane ride and I'm so kilig we did it together, haha! It has always been my dream to go there and thank Heavens, our trip went on smoothly despite the bad weather last month. Imagine, I planned the trip to be on December so we could let pass the "tag-ulan" season, and there the rain was, it just wasn't over ruining the country, wala na syang pinipiling buwan ngayon. :(

Days before our scheduled departure, rain was pouring hard over Manila (irregularly) that it made me pray hard na sana tumigil sya pag aalis na kami. Which it did. :) But there was some ambon the morning of December 8, just after we boarded the plane.

Buti ambon lang.

Pero nung pagbaba, maambon ulit :(

The trip was arranged by Ensemble E-Travel Agency after we purchased the package on Metrodeal for 9900 php only (airfare and transfers, 3D/2N accomodation w/ breakfast, island hopping included.) Swak na no? Super mura! Plus, the communication with the agency, although not constant, was in all fairness straight to the point.

After purchasing the voucher, I sent an e-mail (July) to them asking how the process of booking and reservation will go. They replied asking our top four dates, the names of the passengers, contact numbers and addresses. After giving the needed info to them, they replied back telling me that they'll get back to me two months before the preferred schedule(s). So I waited. On September, they sent a mail giving another set of dates for me to choose from, okay lang naman because the dates they gave are close to our preferred scheds and those were the dates when there are airline promos (fair enough). So we chose to go on December 8, a Thursday so we could go back Saturday. After having the dates confirmed, they immediately sent our travel itinerary. However, the setup was still not clear to me because they only sent the itineraries. What about the accomodation and tours? Are we going to be the one to reserve that? Or is it automatically understood that we're already reserved? I asked them this and after so many follow ups and around 3 weeks before the flight, they sent our E-Travel Docket via e-mail. It serves as our official travel document which we will present whenever we make business transaction with our airlines and hotel/tour partner.

So relieved na ko. Whew.

This is really is it, I thought :p I printed two copies of the travel docket, the e-itinerary from AirPhil Express' link which they also gave, and the e-mail exchange of me and the agent (you know, just in case, haha). Then we were just waiting for the day to come. ^_^

For the first time in my blogging histroy, I will share with you guys our Puerto Princesa experience. Hihi. So please watch out for my next posts ^_^

In roughly 10 hours from now, my dear friend Maude will be leaving the Philippines to continue her career in Singapore. :( Although I know that we will be seeing each other again soon (hopefully in June) and although SG, as they say, is "malapit lang naman", knowing that we are not going to be in the same country anymore makes us really sad. It doesn't even lessen the sadness knowing that we're still gonna be within the same time zone. Technology might help, but it is not enough replacement for my friend. We will miss you truly, babes. :(

Yesterday was our "last" dinner date with Em. Nothing extraordinary because it was a work day, we just watched a movie after dinner and then we split ways. But during dinner, we were enumerating the changes that might happen once Maude goes out of the country. Sino na mag aayos ng UBE? Magkikita-kita pa ba tayo? *because you see, she's almost always the "initiator" of girl's nights out* Wala nang pag-ssleep-over-an. :( And so on and so forth. Funny, because although we all are aware of the drastic changes that will (or might) happen once she's gone (well, not really gone, ha? haha), we still wouldn't really know the difference until we're really there. Why are you doing this to us, babes? Haha :p

But I admire her.. Of course, I have always had. I know this is really hard for her, especially knowing how emotional she is when thinking about the people she'll leave behind. But because this is also for the best, she set the drama queen in her aside and grabbed the opportunity that might not knock again if she lets go. You made the right move, babes. With that, balato sa kikitain mo.. ha? :p

Since our motto is "Once an ISDA, always an ISDA", of course babes, nandito lang kami palagi. We are one e-mail away, one facebook comment/status/message away, one tweet away, one BBM away (kung jojoin ka sa club, haha) orrrr one Viber away if you decide to go Apple, haha! We were successful in keeping in touch always with April, kahit nung dati ay Friendster pa lang ang uso. What more pa today na andami nang means, may mobile internet pa! ;) You'll always be in our thoughts. Like Ep was always in ours, alam mo yan.

I know you'll miss your jowa the most, maybe more than us, haha! But that's understandable. Keep your faith in each other always. You have beaten the joint-account-jinx, you sure as hell will kick the long-distance-relationship-jinx's ass. Haha! Imaginin mo na lang textmates lang kayo ulit, hahaha. Dinner na pow. ;)

And Haley? Huhuhu, mamimiss din namin sya. :( Of course, we'll have less opportunities seeing her, too. So if you'll miss her, isipin mo na lang, di ka nag-iisa. We feel your pain. :(

Umiiyak ka na ba? Ikr? Hahaha!

Anyways.. Since I have no parting gift for you, eto na lang. My love letter. Hihi. I love you babes. You always take care. Keep in touch and see you in June. ;)

please be good to me :)

I remember when I was still a student, the "new year" for me starts in June; and it has been my tradition to list down my wishes every beginning of the school year. My wishes, then, are almost always the same -- new shoes, new bag, new clothes, more money, etcetera etcetera. In short, material things only. Haha, I was that shallow.

Now that I'm older, (yes, at some point we have to admit that) I see the "new year" on a different and, might I say, a more beautiful angle. Well, not in a sense that I see myself "changing" over the /non-existent/ new year's resolutions, but it somehow gives me new and refreshed meaning for life. Especially this 2012.

This year (and I am proud to say it) will be my first time to list down my grown up wish/goal list. I sure hope that this is not yet the end of the world, else it will be really too late for this. Haha! This time I am not focusing on my shallow side, I swear, and please ~~help me~~ wish me luck, I want to scratch all of these come 2013 ;)

I guess I have always loved travelling but I never gave it a serious look until I earned my own money. Now that I have a constant cash flow (ganun talaga tawag? haha), I think I have the right na to dream about it. Since I was a kid, I always thought that I'd travel the Philippines first before thinking of going out, because our country is so damn beautiful, I think everybody should do this too. BUT!!! Thinking about it now, I realized that if I will really do that, aba! Eh anong petsa pa ko makakalabas ng ibang bansa?! Andaming isla ng Pilipinas! Wahaha! Ssssoooo.. I minimized muna my dream to at least travel to one of the tourist spots in Visayas and Mindanao, and then I can maybe hop to anywhere else in Asia :) I'd also love to go to Batanes, it is my ultimate dream. Lord, let the money flow harder please? ;)

Have a bookshelf.

With lots of books, of course. I want to read more this year, and dammit, why is "Hunger Games" always sold out? :( I want to read it before the movie airs in March, please. :(

Yes, I will. I'm so sorry for the 2-month-absentism, blame Tetris on Facebook Blame my new found peer group at the office. Blame my boyfriend. Haha! I actually thought of creating a new blog site, but changed my mind, because I'm getting numbers in Top Blogs!!! Haha! That's so sweet but so unfair because why is it blank when I'm active and now this, when I'm not?! What's up with you people? Hahaha. But seriously, still I'm thankful for passers-by and for the followers (specifically my friends) who almost always "expects" me to have a new blog post. I have TONS of backlogs, I know. I will try my best to attend to them, haha! But for sure, I will blog more this year. Swear.
I also will tweak this thing a little. I know I said I will post my "rules" here but it's getting harder for me to stay consistent, haha. So, this blog will be more personal now. I will still post new "rules", but not as often (if it is) as before. But hey, it's still me. It is, after all, my way or the highway, haha! :p Notice I changed the layout, too. Wala lang. Will change it again if I feel like it, hahaha.

Oh diba, andami kong time? Haha! I forgot what year it was when I started the supposed scrapbook of me and my jowa's story and adventures, 2009 pa ata iyon. The materials and all the pages that was successfully completed are still well kept, but that was it. Haha! I hope to at least make it a "book" na. Please, Lord. T_T

Save more.

Yes, I will! I was successful on my target to save 20% of my income for the whole of 2011. I will challenge myself to kick it up a notch and aim for 30%. I hope none of my gadgets get lost/damaged this year. Not buying a new one will really help. God. :(

Live in a new house.

Hopefully, this year we will be able to live in the new unit Ate Lala bought. Ayoko na dito sa Tenement. Ako na lang natitira sa mga friends ko ditey, hahaha!

When we get to live in our new house, that will be equaling to a new and improved kitchen. I hope that will be enough for me to be more interested in cooking, hahaha!

*this is a wish for me and my boyfie* We will have less (to zero) petty breakups.

We love each other so much that even though we fight like there's no tomorrow, we're still together and, for Chrissakes. we're turning four this year, so I hope this is achievable. Please? Haha!

who's on a diet?

Where we work, the fast food chains/restaurants are so few, so when a new one is put up, no matter how long a walk it would take -- my team mates and I would always "dream" of going there. We're hayok to new tastes of food like that.

Some month(s?) ago, Army Navy was built ~~not~~ near our building. We've always tried to eat there but something is always stopping us. Until one full of SL/EL day, when my team of 7 comprised of 3, we decided to temporarily "close" the store to pig out. And boy, pig out, we did.

I swear I didn't expect that this would be sssssoooo huge! Mcdo double burger ata nasa isip ko when I ordered this. But but but, it tastes ssssooooo good! Even yummier than Stackers burger, ka-leveling ng Brother’s burger, super juicy the meat! *lunok* However, my stomach space wasn't able to contain all of it. As in. Only two to three bites left, I feel like throwing up na. Ronnie saw it in my face, naawa ang lolo, tinulungan na ko, hahaha! Hiya lang talaga kong di ubusin kasi.. ehem. :p Buti na lang may sumalo :)

JR ordered the Starving Sailor (steak) which is at 235 petot.

Isang dangkal ni JR itey, kaloka. I thought he, too, wouldn't be able to finish it up, but he did! Haha! It tasted good daw, I wasn't able to try it, burger ko nga di ko maubos, hihingi pa ko sa iba?! :p

Ronnie had their Steak Quesadilla for 165 petot.

Masarap din daw. See, manipis lang yung food nya kaya na-take nya pa yung burger ko. Hehehe.

We also ordered "Freedom Fries" and Onion Rings at 65 petot each.

Ronnie's the Onion Ring fan kaya we had this. Ako, I never was because this is just fried onion with dressing, right? Haha. But in all fairness, this wasn't that bad. I've tasted Greenwich's version, lasang lasa talaga ang sibuyas. Dito, no. Kewl. :)

On the other hand....

!!!!!!!

It's like a combo of Mcdo-KFC french fries. The thinness of Mcdo's and the flavor of KFC's but only more spicy and less umay *lunok*. Gusto ko to! ^_^

For the drinks, I had their Vanilla Milkshake *which is masarap*, feel na feel ko ang American style meryenda, haha! Ate Janet and JR had Chocolate Milkshake and Ronnie had the "LiberTea" *aka Iced Tea*

Milkshakes cost 99 petot each, the LiberTea costs 55 petot (regular)

All in all, super sulit na kahit medyo may kamahalan. But like what Kris Aquino said, we got more than what we he paid for!!! Will I go back? Definitely! Pero Burger na lang oorderin ko next time, ha? Para maubos ko na, hehehe ^_^

Why do you have to give up on me exactly one day after your warranty expired? Seriously, you (among other things) really make me sad. Was I not good to you? :(

I do not want to start counting the things I've done for you but I'm really upset because you died on me and I don't know how it happened and I don't know who or what to blame. All I want to do now is to blame you, because you left me... Why? :(

You were the first ever gadget I bought from my hard earned promotional increase when I became an SE. When the strap that came with you for free got broken, I immediately bought you a new one; I even added a case because I don't want you lying around without protection. Your case was not an ordinary case, you know. It was not available to be bought on the mall and no other case can replace it because it was built only for your kind. I could've bought some pouch that's not as expensive, but I didn't. I bought you YOUR case and nothing less. :(

I was not greedy of you, I never was. :( I let my friends borrow you when they go out of town, because I know how helpful you will be for them. Heck you’ve been to places before I am. I even let my brother borrow you even though I don't trust him because he's burara. He proved it when he lost your case when he went on a field trip. I was very mad then, I wanted to let him replace it but I know he has no money so I just went ahead to buy a new one for you and I purchased it IMMEDIATELY. The feeling I felt when your first case was delivered, that was the same feeling I had when the replacement came. I was very relieved. That's how much I didn't want you to be homeless. :(

I admit there are times that I take you for granted and I am so sorry for that. :( But I got back to my senses right? I even made a blog post about it. :( About how I was so wrong of almost losing my love for you and how much I was so proud of you for proving me wrong. Was that not enough? :(

Seriously D10, I still need you, please don't die on me yet. :( I'm not yet ready to buy a new camera, just looking at how broad other options are makes my head ache. I'm really confused right now. I just wish you come back from the dead so that this madness will all be over.

The "Hate you Body" Rule

One genius fictional character once said:

"The key to my exercise program is this one simple truth: I hate my body. You understand that the second you look in the mirror and you're happy with what you see, baby, you just lost the battle."

That genius is one of my idols, haha, Dr. Cox from Scrubs (my still number 1 favorite comedy series even after I fell in love with Sheldon Cooper). You see, this is Dr. Cox~~'s body~~:

But we are not going to concentrate on that. Haha.

We're going to concentrate on what he said - hate your body. Why?

Because the moment you feel contented about it, the moment you think that it is just about what you want, you will stop striving to make it better. And when you stop, you become unconscious of what you eat and of what you do to your body and when that happens, you'll end up F.A.T.

I was once thin, heck Kim Chiu thin, chos! Haha! But because I have always been that way since I was a kid, I never thought that I would ever get fat. I was very matakaw then, but up to the first couple of years in college my waist line was still 25 or 26-ish and I LOVED it. I loved my body because it's been always like that even when I don't make any efforts to maintain it, even when I just be my matakaw and tamad self.

Five years later, my gluttony and sloth took a toll on me. Huhuhu. I tried dieting but as it was only a "try" it didn't "do." :( Well, it was effective for a while, but only for a very short while. Haha!

BUT since I have grown hatred to my braso, to my bilbils and to my double chin, I decided again to take on the journey towards a ~~sexier~~ slimmer me. Thank goodness for the free use of gym in our company, I have been working out (twice a week) for two months now :) I've already let go of 1 kilo and because my gym buddy (a colleague) is so determined to do this seriously, (and I don't know why, she's thin naman, haha) plus the gym instructors there are very helpful and friendly, I think I will never grow tired of burning these fats, come muscular pains or body aches. :)

But the gym and I have a love-hate relationship. I may love what it does to me, but it has its pros and cons. Let me share them with you, the positive first :)

Advantages:

1. Working out makes me feel guilty eating carbs, sweets and fatty food. Though I never intended to be strict about my diet anymore, because I heard that holding back will only make your cravings worse, but I suddenly don't get attracted to weight gaining food anymore. Especially during gym days, hehe.

2. I'd been sick last weekend (ubo at sipon) that I couldn't bring myself to the gym last Tuesday. But I managed to drag myself to work out last Thursday (kasi scared akong maka-miss, haha) and to my surprise, by Friday, I'm okay na! :) I don't know if the workout cured me, pero I can't help but think so. Kasi naman, everybody in the office is barking their throats out since September came, never ako nahawa, naulanan lang talaga ko nung last Saturday kaya nagkaron ng pagkakataon ang sipon na umarrive eh, haha. :D

3. The obvious advantage of course, I don't look masagwa anymore when wearing my old blouses, hihi.

4. Bumagay na sa'kin ulit ang short hair because my double chin and chubby cheeks are starting to disappear na, haha!

5. I'm starting to feel beautiful again (not to mention my self confidence is also coming back, hahaha) ^_^

6. I started to become closer to God. When I do a difficult routine, I always say "Diyos ko po", "Diyos ko, Lord", "Ay Diyos ko", etc. at the end of it, sometimes in between counts pag sooper hirap. Haha!

Disadvantages:

1. I sometimes become bobo sa math, haha! We do our routines 20 or 30 counts each, but when the exercise stresses me out, I sometimes get confused kung anong next sa 10, 15 na ba? 18 na? Yes, last two! Hahaha!

2. My integrity is being scarred, hahaha. When I get pagod na for the 2nd and 3rd sets, dinadaya ko na ang bilang, wahahaha! But I try not to do this anymore, except kung nilelevel up nila kuya ang exercise, kasi naman syempre tatantyahin ko muna kung kaya ko diba, wahaha! << nagdadahilan :p

3. I learned the art of revenge. Haha! One time when my gym buddy and I saw na sila kuya din pala ang tagahugas ng mugs na ginagamit dun sa gym. Aba! An idea popped to our minds. Damihan natin ang paggamit ng mugs pag pinapahirapan nila tayo, wahaha! Joke lang, pero seriously sometimes I think of intentionally doing that, hahaha :p

If you had 3 wishes, what would they be.

First of all, asking me for 3 wishes? It's like an insult to me. Do you seriously think I have JUST 3 wishes? Haha. Kidding ;p But seriously, I have more than 3 wishes, more than 300 if we're going to count the small things, haha. Secondly, I think the title of this 20th challenge should be: If you had 3 wishes that would 100% come true, what would they be. *taas kilay a la Sheldon*

Anyways, if I had 3 wishes that would 100% come true, it would be the following:

First, I wish Nanay's life could have been at least 10 years longer. She was taken away from us 2005, I was still in college then. 6 years passed, I now have successfully entered the I.T. industry and is now earning my own money. Imagine all the things I could have bought for her, all the gifts I could have given her the past Christmases and Mother's Days. :( She haven't met V yet, she doesn't know what I am as a person now. I still wish she was here.

Secondly, I wish I'd be given all the chance, all the time and all the resources I could possibly need to live my life to its fullest. I am a simple girl but my dreams and hopes are nowhere near simplicity. I just want it all, is that a crime? :p

Last but not the least, and I don't know why Aladdin hadn't thought of this, is to have unlimited wishes that would 100% come true!! This is so I could get all the material things I could possibly want (cause we are living in a material world) without minding the money it would cost me, haha! Also so I could wish for Kingkong's long life (kingkong is my dog). I would also want my dreams (as stated in my previous post) to come true without sweating, that would be cool right? Haha!

The Detachment Rule

I admit there are times when I’m not only a drama queen, but also a major pain in the ass (mostly to my own self and unfortunately also to my beau). I don’t know why but I always let emotions rule over me, most especially the two extreme opposite sentiments – happiness and sadness. When I’m happy, I am super happy that sometimes my head aches from over-smiling and laughing and being mega giddy all day. When I’m sad, I feel nothing more than wanting to disappear (but no, never had I once tried to end my life, haha! Takot ko lang! ;p) But seriously, I hate being sad, who loves being one by the way? Haha. For this, I often hate myself. I hate that I’m always carried away by my feelings and that sometimes, I feel like my emotions are my masters, when it should be the other way around.

So from now on, I will TRY to learn how to detach. Not “detach” in the sense of disengaging myself from anything, I don’t want that. I don’t want to be indifferent, I want to care. But here, let me quote Mitch Albom to explain “detachment” to you.

Learn to detach...Don't cling to things, because everything is impermanent... But detachment doesn't mean you don't let the experience penetrate you. Like what I told ya ;) On the contrary, you let it penetrate fully. I’m good at this na, it’s a start right? That's how you are able to leave it... This I got to freakin’ learn. Take any emotion--love for a woman, or grief for a loved one, or what I'm going through, fear and pain from a deadly illness. If you hold back on the emotions--if you don't allow yourself to go all the way through them--you can never get to being detached, you're too busy being afraid. You're afraid of the pain, you're afraid of the grief. You're afraid of the vulnerability that love entails. But by throwing yourself into these emotions, by allowing yourself to dive in, all the way, over your head even, you experience them fully and completely. You know what pain is. You know what love is. You know what grief is. And only then can you say, 'All right. I have experienced that emotion. I recognize that emotion. Now I need to detach from that emotion for a moment. Hell yeah, that’s what I’m gonna do.

Now why do I suddenly feel like I need to learn how to isolate? I can blame my dysfunctional family, my ill-tempered boyfriend, my boring life, my super-fun-but-so-far-away-from-me-friends, but I think it is all me. This is the first time I’ll admit it, but I think I’m in the middle of a “quarter-life” crisis. Seriously I don’t know why people call this “quarter-life”, do we expect to live up to a hundred years? Haha, la lang ;) But again, I think I’m in the freakin’ middle of it. The past few ~~days~~ weeks I was always sad, I was always needy, I was hard to please, I easily got frustrated, I bitch about shallow things, I think about a lot of things, I wanted to go places, I wanted to evade routinary tasks, and I always felt the need to do things like this is my last year on earth. Not only is it stressful, but it also weighed heavily on my relationship with V. It’s him that I talk to everyday and it’s him that absorbs all these. It came to a point where we almost reached the peaks of our tolerance.

But after weeks of being depressed for various reasons (and at the same time, for no reasons at all), I am now detaching myself from the crisis that (it appears to me) is only in my mind. No more whining, no more bitching around, no more impossible demands. Only enjoyment, only contentment.

I was always sad then, I am now familiar with sadness, and I can let it go. I was needy then, I am now familiar with neediness, and I can let it go. I was hard to please, I easily got frustrated, I know that now so I will learn how to manage my expectations and be able to let my frustrations go. I overthink, I became familiar with the stress it brought, I can let it go. I became demanding, I hated the feeling of not getting what I want, I know that now and I can now learn how to not depend on anybody when it comes to my self-fulfillment.

I can do this, right? :) Detachment, ON!!!

Nicknames you have and how or why you have them

Before everything else, my first name is "Jaquiline." No second name, all my other siblings have one worded first names, too. But I maybe have a simple name, but people can unbelievably derive a handful of nicknames from "Jaquiline".

LenLen or Len - Yeah, I have a very traditional Pinoy nickname where one syllable is repeated twice, haha! This has been my nickname ever since, as they say, "nagka-utak ako". I don't know how or who amongst my family decided to call me that, but I'm assuming it came from the "line" of "Jaquiline". The people who call me Len are my family (of course), my friends from the neighborhood, people from the neighborhood who aren't my friends and highschool close friends.

Jacque - If I remember it right, I used this nickname after Mylene Dizon starred in ABS-CBN's "FLAMES". You know, that TV series from Channel 2 that featured various cheesy love stories when we were young? That. I was in elementary then, Mylene Dizon's character is "Jacque" and I found it cute. Thus, it became my nickname. Haha. Elementary, highschool and even some college friends call me this.

Que - Pronounced as "KE". This, I got from my highschool friends. It is actually a nickname derived from "Jacque", an nickname of a nickname, if you may.

QueQue - Pronounced as... you know. I also got this from my highschool friends, but the ones with dirty minds. Haha! I didn't mind though, I think this was thought of when we were playing a game of "pa-panget-an ng pangalan". Hehe.

Jaq - Now this, this is the nickname I am currently known using. I don't know why this has only been thought of when I was in college na, nagkatamaran na lang ng syllables? Haha. This is also my favorite nickname. :) People I met during and after college call me this.

Uiline - This is really not an "official" nickname, I just wanted to share this to you because I think the origin of it is funny. Haha. My college barkada, yes all of them girls, they all have second names. Me, NIL. One time we were out to play bowling and in the score board, they entered their second names as their "alias". For me, since I have none, they declared it to be "Uiline". Sweet, no? Bow.

P.S. I also answer to "tol", "labs", "friend", "sis", "te", "(i was supposed to include what V calls me, but no ;p)".

Plans / Dreams / Goals You Have

Though a plan, a dream and a goal could be defined by one same thing:

I plan to have a dog.
My dream is to have a dog.
One of my goals is to have a dog.

Still, there is a vast difference between the three.

plan n a specific project or definite purpose

I plan to stay at the company I’m currently working at for a minimum of 5 years. That means I still have myself more than 3 years of commitment with it; but that doesn’t imply that I will submit a resignation letter come my 5th year anniversary. I might even stay longer (or shorter), depending on what the situation will be.

dream n a cherished hope; ambition; aspiration

Gosh, I have lots. But on the top of my head (is) are these: I dream to have an ideal future life. When I eventually get married and have my own beautiful family, I want to have a lovely house with a fine-looking kitchen, a smart and malambing dog, and a humongous front yard (oh and a swimming pool won't hurt ;p). I also want to have my own car, apart from the family car that we will have. I want my future family to never have to worry (or fight) about money. I want to be able to give everything (they) we could possibly want. ;)

It’s MY dream, walang pakelamanan ok?! :p

goal n the aim or object towards which an endeavor is directed

1. To continue and never stop saving more than enough money (until it hurts, haha)

2. Be a "skilled" cook before (or after? haha) I get married.

my official excuse letter

Okay, so I was an absentee blogger for almost a month. Sorry.. hihi. But this didn't happen just because I'm tamad (well, it's partly that) but the bigger reason for this is because of this stupid desktop. The PC shuts down as soon as it was turned on.

When my pamangkin noticed that the keyboard types by itself, we automatically thought that the keyboard was virused (if that's ever possible. Is it? Haha). Therefore, our first aid treatment, so everyone could still go on with their internet dependent lives, is to disconnect the keyboard. Voila! It worked! The PC stopped shutting down but we also lost access to typing, or so we thought. Thank ~~Windows~~ God for the "on screen keyboard" functionality of Windows, for helping us log in to facebook, errr, for helping us key in letters without actually having the "keyboard" connected.

How can I be madaldal click-per-click? I simply cannot be.

Anyways, I found out that this is not caused by a virus. I googled it and it turns out that this is a hardware defect, not of the keyboard, but of the CPU (I don't know if it's this or this). In fact, there are days when we try to connect the keyboard and the PC doesn't shut down (like today, hehe). Anyhoo.. for now, nobody is planning to fix this freaking problem, not even me. So until everything is fine (or until I get to buy a new laptop), expect low frequency of posts.

someone you would want to switch lives with for one day and why

Believe it or not, I got stuck in this 30-day blog challenge thinking about this one. I have tried so many times to make a draft about it, but I always failed. For a long time, I only thought of Kuya Kim (regarding the subject of course) because I wanted to know if he's telling the truth in every trivia he shares or he's just bluffing because nobody would even care to check the facts. But I can't just reason that out, can I?! (Plus, it's lame too, I know). So I gave it time and time paid off. Like this is a big deal, haha

Well, after thinking deeply about it, I realized I don't want to switch lives with a certain "somebody" for a day; nobody is that intriguing to me. But! But! After being so addicted to "How I Met Your Mother" over the past month (late bloomer alert), I somehow wished I was one of those guys. No, I don't want to be a hollywood actress. I just want to be a quasi-fictional character from an American comedy series. Even for a day.

I want to be surrounded by people whose words will bring laughter in the background every other minute of my day. Not that the people around me now are boring, I assure you, they aren't (I'm good at picking friends you know, haha).

I want to skip all the boring things that happen to me and focus on the ones that matter (I can always have a crystal clear flashback, after all).

I want to have an interesting story, even a snippet of my day that would brighten somebody else's when they hear about it.

I want to live in a world where awful things, if they ever happen, get resolved in a maximum of 45 minutes (when an episode ends, that is).

I want my days to be spontaneous.

Most importantly, I want the people I love (the main cast) to stay with me from Season 1 to the end of the series. Only those whose roles are less significant can go. The main cast should never ever leave.

The “Name the Rule” Rule

This is my 29th rule

If you are an avid reader, you are among the few who knew that my blog posts ~~before~~ were numbered (Rule #1, Rule #2, Rule #3, blah blah) and they did not have ~~sensible~~ titles at all. What they had were subtitles and after almost a year, I realized (yeah, just some days ago) that subtitles will never ever make up for titles. Although they are called “sub”-titles, they are not enough “substitutes” for a title. Have I proven my point?

The LOL Rule

I do not use the term "lol"

Not only because it sounds like the filipino foul word "ulol" and not just because i find it awkward and insulting to use it when a friend (I chat with) is trying to make me laugh:

Friend: Knock knock!

Me: Who’s there?
Friend: Pork chop masarap lagyan mo ng ketchup.
Me: Pork chop masarap lagyan mo ng ketchup who?
Friend: (to the tune of ke$ha's Tick Tock) Pork chop masarap lagyan mo ng ketchup. Tonight I’mma fight ‘til we see the sunlight!
Me: Lol.

I do not use it simply because it kinda steals the zest of a laughter, if it ever has one. "Lol" is kinda like an emotion stealer. I mean, how hard could typing "hahaha" be? In fact, when a person I chat with cracks me up, I type hahaha as long as the laugh (or even the smile) is with me. So the longer my haha, the more "benta" the joke is to me. Isn't that more rewarding to the other party?

Friend: Use SCHOOLING in a sentence.
Me: Okay, use it.
Friend: *Ring, ring*…..Hello? Who SCHOOLING?
Me: lol

VS.

Friend: Use CONTEMPLATE in a sentence.
Me: Use it.
Friend: I went to a party last night. There was so much food pero co-CONTEMPLATE.
Me: hahahahahaha!!

See the difference?! Haha!

Plus "lol"-ing is, more often than not, an exaggeration. Add to it its relatives - lmao and rofl. I don't know why and how people who have invented the terms have come to it, but I am darn sure whoever they are, they never really laughed their asses off or rolled on the floor laughing -- literally. I mean, come on, who does that?!

The Eat All You Can Rule

Eat All You Can

Last Wednesday, my friends and I got together to "brainstorm" about our plans on celebrating Jejo's birthday blowout. Ever since we started working, we made it a point to celebrate each other's birthday doing something that we've never done before. Last year we went bowling on my birthday, we went to a comedy bar on Jejo and Maude's birthday combined and we went to E.K. to celebrate Nhix's. Noreen's birthday came in too early for this idea, but anyway, we went to ACE Water Spa for her late birthday celebration last month. Our original plan for Jejo and Maude's birthday this year (supposedly to be combined again since their birthdays are only 4 days apart) was to go to Manila Ocean Park. But due to her expensive lifestyle (haha :p), Maude can't afford to spend for us pa. So we needed a Plan B.

Anyhoo.. this post is not about our Plan B (intro lang yun, haha), this is about what we did instead of thinking about plan B (haha) -- pigging out.

We met at Alphaland Southgate Mall in Magallanes that night and instead of eating on the fastfood chains that we usually go to, we chose to eat at Chef D' Angelo. We chose to eat there not because we are willing to spend a fortune for a dinner date that would only last for more or less 2 hours. We were lured to dine there because of the "Eat all you can" tarp outside! Haha! I don't know if they do that everyday, I've only seen it twice, but they offer an all you can eat buffet of pasta (spaghetti and carbonara), pizza (hawaiian, four cheese, pepperoni), caesar salad and soup for 150 pesos but for a limited time only (6pm to 9pm).

Our dinner date inspired me to create my 26th rule.

When you dine in to any restaurant and availed of an "all you can eat" promo, you should follow the instruction to just eat what you can. Do not eat all you want, do not eat all you should, most especially do not eat what you think your money deserves. The promo did not say that. Why am I saying this? Because I, and I guess my friends as well, did not follow what the tarpaulin said. Although I know that there are consequences if I wouldn't be able to chow down everything that was in my plate (they'll let you pay double the charge if you have leftovers), I never thought about it at the time, I was just happy that I can put any amount of carbonara and salad and pizza on my plate. I never stopped to think if I actually can eat all of them, I just threw them all in and that, my friends, was my first mistake. I ate all I want.

After I emptied my first plate, although I was so full, I still had the feeling that I should come back for more. I was thinking "what the heck, I paid for an unlimited supply of italian goodies, why should I limit myself to just one plate?", and so I went back. My second mistake. I ate all (I thought) I should and what I thought my money deserved.

I guess anybody who's not always eating "buffet style" can relate to what I did. Most especially for first timers, we wanted to have a taste of it all, right? We don't think if everything is at our capacity, we just wanted to have even a little of everything. We always want to have that "sulit na sulit" feeling when it comes to things like this. Although it is not a crime to do so, still, it is wrong. So wrong. Why? Because if you push yourself to have that sulit na sulit feeling, you will have a super full and super hard na belly afterwards!

My karma? I wasn't able to enjoy the desserts Maude and Noreen brought :( It also came to a point that I felt a pang on my stomach when I laugh and believe me, it's hard not to laugh when I'm with my girls, because of the hilarious things we talk about each time we meet. I swear to God, I have never been so busog all my life. I felt so full until lunch time the next day!

So next time, when they say "eat all you can", I will believe them. I will eat only what I can. You do that too, no matter how delectable the food is, you do not have to put everything in your plate. Believe me, it will save you a lot of tummy aches. Hihi. :)

Proud to be Pinoy

Although I think it is a given na that we, Filipinos, are naturally proud of our race, it's still tickling when something or somebody shows himself to the ~~internet~~ world and screams (figuratively though) that he is a proud Pinoy.

I stumbled upon Mikey Bustos' video tutorials in youtube this weekend. This fine young man (who is also downright humorous) shares the Filipino culture to the world thru his vlogs. Sometimes, love just ain't enough

I know, I know.. love conquers all, it can move mountains, hell, it makes the world go round. But in relationships, even the most crazy-in-love type of couples get ticked off every once in a while. One moment of disappointment, one moment of hurt can blow off everything a bf-gf has ever hardly built. One snap of bad timing and boom, he's single, she's single. Yes, they love each other, but sometimes other emotions grow much stronger. Pride takes over, anger takes over, love? Set aside.

So is it enough? Your answer might still be yes, but you have got to admit, it is not (well at least not at all times). Sometimes it needs a little help, too. Love has friends you know and those are (but not limited to) maturity, honesty, the ability to compromise, communication, trust, understanding, fidelity, faith, patience, kindness, forgiveness, you get the picture. Now when all else fails, love saves. Love saves everytime.

However, although love wants nothing but peace and happiness, it also has some enemies and boy are they strong. Hate, jealousy, infidelity, immaturity, pride, selfishness, misunderstanding, prejudice, do the math.

When these "enemies" attack a relationship, you might think that love automatically comes to the rescue, but no. Its friends are at the first line of defense. Maturity tries to weigh things over, tries to think of the next move. Sometimes it fails because another enemy (immaturity) is stronger and when it does, other friends of love gets defeated too. But when maturity succeeds, other friends gain strength as well. Trust and faith rebuild bridges that were burned, the ability to compromise and communication help them. Understanding and forgiveness close the deal, hence, love is revived and becomes even stronger.

To end this note, let me share to you one of my favorite quotes, I guess it tells everything I (think) I know about love and relationships.

Promotions Guidelines

These Promotion Guidelines, along with the Statement of Rights and Responsibilities, the Ad Guidelines, the Platform Policies and all other applicable Facebook policies, govern your communication about or administration of any contest, competition, sweepstakes or other similar offering (each, a "promotion") using Facebook.
If you use Facebook to communicate about or administer a promotion, you are responsible for the lawful operation of that promotion, including the official rules, offer terms and eligibility requirements (e.g., age and residency restrictions), and compliance with regulations governing the promotion and all prizes offered in connection with the promotion (e.g., registration and obtaining necessary regulatory approvals). Please note that compliance with these Guidelines does not constitute the lawfulness of a promotion. Promotions are subject to many regulations and if you are not certain that your promotion complies with applicable law, please consult with an expert.

Promotions on Facebook must be administered within Apps on Facebook.com, either on a Canvas Page or an app on a Page Tab.
