Simple Mobile vs Straight Talk

Hi this is The Asian Apple God coming at you with two service providers that just may be what you need if you're looking to cut down on cellular costs. T-Mobile has revamped their T-Mobile Girl into a speedy, kickass, icon and Simple Mobile, a cellular company that utilizes T-Mobile's cell towers, have also revamped their cellular service speeds. Straight Talk and Simple Mobile have been known for their iconic "$40" or "$45" unlimited talk, text and data packages. $40 from Simple Mobile and $45 from Straight Talk. But it's that time and age where you just need more money, but don't need to be spending it on high cell phone bills, and you have decided to go a cheaper route. You're stuck between these great companies, and you believe they are the same. Right? Wrong. I mentioned earlier that Simple Mobile utilizes T-Mobile's Cell Towers for Service and data speeds at up to 4G. Straight Talk utilizes AT&T towers for Data Connection. However, Straight talk does not currently support 4G speeds. In order for you to fully utilize Simple Mobile's 3g and 4G data downloads and upload speeds, you will need a T-Mobile 4g approved device. What does this mean EXACTLY? This means that T-Mobile's Phones uses a 1700/2100mhz Band. Something AT&T phones do not support. The HTC one S for example, utilizes 1700/2100mhz band. This means that the device shouldn't have trouble connecting to a 4G signal. However, you will only get 3g and 4G signal where it is provided. Towers are still expanding, however, you still will need to be in a large city such as LA, Portland (OR), NYC, Miami (FL), etc. You can log onto Simple Mobile's Website to see if your area has 3g or 4g or both. What if you have a device that says it's got a 2100mhz band? That still isn't good enough. The device needs to have a 1700/2100 mhz band. Not either or. Now we have that cleared up, lets say you have the flagship HTC One X device from AT&T. That will not work on the Simple Mobile 4G data connection. In fact, the fastest you'd get at download speeds is EDGE. The HTC One X however should work on Straight Talk's network because it utilizes the AT&T towers. iPhone 4 and 4S should work with the Simple Mobile Device, but again, look up your device on Phone Arena or consult your manuel for further information regarding your specific device. Thank you for taking your time to research this, and please understand that if you are getting EDGE on your device, you need to check your bands. If you do not have 1700/2100mhz band, you will not connect to anything higher than EDGE. If that's the case, I would recommend Straight Talk. If they do not provide a micro-sim, you can easily purchase one from Ebay or "eye-ball" it. Although, I do not recommend "guessing" as you may damage your Sim and you may end up needing to purchase another. MacBook pro 13 Dying or Staying

There was some speculation on the most popular mac in Apple's lineup; the MacBook Pro 13" model. What seems to be the problem? The problem is that there was a rumour lurking around the internet about a possible MacBook Air-ish design for the MacBook Pros.

What does that mean exactly? If the MacBook Pro 13 will get the same or a similar design to the MacBook Air, then that would mean Apple would have to either reprice the MacBook Air models or completely discontinue the MacBook Pro 13 model. Apple will have to go with option a. Reprice MacBook Air lineup, because the MacBook Pro 13 is Apple's most popular Macintosh. The MacBook Air 11 would have to be dropped down to x amount (maybe $699-$899) while the MacBook Air 13 drops down to $999. The MacBook Air 13" would still consist of the dated Intel iCore processing unit but with faster clock speeds making the product appear to be worth more than what they are charging.

The MacBook PRO 13 would keep the $1199 stand along with Intel's iCore processors, updated "retina" display, possible MacBook Air ish design internally and externally (meaning no super drive, ssd or hdd and longer lasting battery etc).

The MacBook Air 11 would definitely have to be priced at a lower cost. Your best bet would be $699 because the current price is $999, and $1299 for the 13" model is a $300 difference. If the MacBook Air 13 is dropped down to $999, the 11 inch model would drop to $699. Apple wouldn't sell it for $799 because for an easy $200 more you can get a slightly better computer. But reconsidering that the MacBook pro would only be an easy $200 difference, the MacBook Air may very well be priced at $799. $200 more from the $799, you get the MacBook Air 13. If you have $200 more from the $999 you can get a MacBook Pro 13 for $1199. They are all in increments of $200. Just something to keep in mind.

The answer to the question, "will the MacBook pro 13 lineup be discontinued?", is no because Apple can't discontinue the MacBook pro 13, their most popular Macintosh.

MacBook Pro Adopts or Declines "Air" Design

The 2012 MacBook Pros have been RUMOURED that they will take on the MacBook Air Design; technical specification design and its tapered Wedge ClamShell Design. Meaning that the optical drive (much like the current MacBook Air) will become a standard optional accessory. With the optical drive removed, you would have extra space which would be utilized as the new location for the potential SSD (knowing Apple, they will still probably use the standard HDD). That would mean that in the previous location of the SSD or HDD would be empty space that would, again, be utilized to extend the battery.

Replace the optical drive/cd drive with the ssd or hdd and enlarge the battery size so it offers more hours for the mobile user.

This all does NOT require a Wedge ClamShell design overhaul. Apple can go with the Wedge ClamShell or they can remain with its current design.

I personally do not believe apple will utilize the wedge ClamShell design just because there would be nothing to distinguish the MacBook Pro and Air. They would just be the MacBook Airs. Why redesign the MacBook Pro 13 with the Air design when there is already a MacBook Air?

We know that the MacBook Air 13 has a 1440x900 display and its only a matter of time until the MacBook Pro 13 15 and 17 get a display update. The MacBook Pro will adopt the 1440x900 while the 15 will adopt the higher-res (1680x1050) as native and the 2880x1800 as an upgrade while the 17 adopts the 2880x1800 as the upgrade still making the 1900x1200 native.

The new IVY Bridge Processing units will offer a greater range of I/O. Meaning we will finally get to utilize the next generation USB 3.0.

The next generation MacBook Pros will hopefully not be a disappointment. The potential internal and external redesign, potential display upgrades and hardware upgrades will give the Pro name back to the MacBook Pros.

The New MacBook Air - Faster. Better. Stronger.

The new macbook air was released today with intel's new second generation dual-core i5 and i7 chips along with Apple's new OS; Mac OSX Lion.

The new MBA's new features include everything Lion and the backlit keyboard for typing in the dark. The faster processors and integrated graphic cards make for quick processing. Slow computers will soon become the thing of the past.

The new macBook Airs will not only look stylish, but will now preform at MacBook Pro levels. The intel dual-core 1.6ghz i5 processor will think that it is a quad-core processor, again making for faster mobile film editing. Or anything else.

Apple Releases New EHD W/ThunderBolt Ports

Just recently, Apple Inc. released a new External Hard Drive (or EHD) which, finally, will utilize the "not-so-new" I/O in Apple's newest and hottest MacBook Pros and iMacs.

After waiting for 5 months, we finally see the EHD's. They currently come in 4, 6, 8 and 12 TB storage options in the Apple Store. The entry model going for $1000; or $999. The same price to buy a new Unibody Polycarbonate MacBook.

Yes, this may be very exciting for many Apple store consumers, but how practical are these options? I personally have never exceeded over 500 GB of information. Let alone 250.

Let me help you choose. If you are a student who uses his/her computer for film projects (Full Sail University in Florida students) the entry model is for you. The same goes for everyone else. I highly doubt anyone will exceed 4TB of information... Maybe Apple should really bring that down.

The only time you should ever need an EHD with 4+TB is when you've got 5+ family members in your household. Lets face it, I highly doubt that most of us have less than 5. If you're thinking of purchasing an EHD with 4TB HDDs, don't. It's not practical. You're never going to exceed 1TB unless, as I mentioned earlier, you have 5+ household members... or if you're a Full Sail University student (that university specializes in media productions; anything film, animation, music, anything media, that is Full Sail University).

Think about purchasing a cheaper alternative. 1 or 2TB EHDs should be plenty if you're going to export a few films, movies, few thousand porn photos, cute cat videos, etc.

MacBook Pro Unibody Refresh (November '11)

It's been almost been 4 years... 1460 days will have passed and the MacBook (Pros) still have the same look.

Fear not! The next generation of Aluminum MacBook Pros will soon get the case refresh!

In October or November of 2011, we should see changes in the display sizes, thickness and depth of the notebook itself as well.

I recently dug up some information on the possible design changes, and I found out that Apple may be trying to implement the 14.1" display into their 13" MacBook Pro Frame. What does this mean exactly? Here are my thoughts on this matter:

Apple and Shuriken Displays – Larger display means more pixels? Will the display have “poor/outdated” picture quality? What about the HDFT Cam? Will there not be enough room for it?

Shuriken LCD Display – Not sure if I like the way it looks. How many pixels would it have? I hope it would be HD?

Alienware M14x = 1366x768 (SD - Standard Definition)

Total Pixels = 1,049,088

Apple MBP 13 = 1280x800

Total Pixels = 1,024,000

Total Pixel Difference = 25,088

1,049,088 / 1,024,000 = 1.0245

Alienware m14x = 1600x900 Higher Definition Display

Total Pixels = 1,440,000 Pixels

Apple MBP 13 = 1280x800

Total Pixels = 1,024,000

Total Pixel Difference = 420,000

1,440,000 / 1,024,000 = 1.40625

With the higher Definition display, you will get 40% pixels, meaning a sharper display. You will notice the difference. The estimated price jump is $75.

Worth it? You decide.

The stock Alienware M14x would contain 2.4 to 2.5% more pixels; meaning the display will be slightly sharper than the MacBook Pro. But you will not notice the difference.

Everything that I've just said is very self explanatory. If Apple is willing to let the consumers choose wether or not they can have a "HD" display in their MacBook Pro 14, then I think the extra $75 - $100 bump up should be fair.

The MacBook Pro 15 currently "says", "High Res 1680-by-1050 Display an extra $100". I do think that since the "High Res 1600-by-900 Display" is slightly less than the 15" model, we may end up paying only $75 for it. But who knows?

The LG Shuriken HD Display in the 14" MBP would be a great improvement over the standard 1280-by-800.

Wait wait! I talked about the Unibody... It will get a refresh too. Not much to say here besides the fact that the macbook may drop a few pounds and that it will probably get thinner.

here is what I mean:

Instead of being at .95", the MacBook Pros may drop down to about .90 or .85". Except for the 17". That behemoth of a laptop is a hefty .98" in thickness. But that may drop down to about .95" or less. Can't say a whole lot about the 17".

In terms of overall look of the keyboard, I do not think that Apple will change anything about the "interior" or under the "hood" of the computer. By that I mean if you open the lid of the computer, I doubt there will be any design changes in there.

I HOPE APPLE WILL MAKE THE EDGES A LITTLE LESS SHARP THOUGH!!

The current MacBook Pros edges (not the corners) feel a little sharp. Hm.

Besides the stuff I just mentioned, I do believe that is all that will be changed.

2011 iMacs - May 3rd

The new iMacs from Apple feature a whole new line of sandy bridge processors, new graphics, new I/O port(s), FaceTime HD Camera, and much more!

Apple right off the bat starts off by proudly displaying their new line of iMacs which ALL contain their new Quad Core Sandy Bridge processors, faster 6000 series graphics cards, 1 Thunderbolt I/O in the 21.5" inch models and 2 Thunderbolt I/O ports in the larger iMac 27" desktop computer. In terms of screen size and screen resolution, Apple stands strong in the market for having the best desktop computers for an excellent price; starting at $1699.

Apple claims that their new iMacs have increased up to 3x in speed. I may have not gotten my hands on one of their marvelous computers just yet, but I hope to take it for a test drive in one of the Apple Certified Stores very soon.

Intel's new Thunderbolt I/O ports will slowly leak out into the Windows Market soon, but for now it remains strictly for Apple Computers. The new Intel Thunderbolt I/O port can send and receive data up to 10 GB per second. Unfortunately, there are no devices out on the market that can utilize the Thunderbolt technology just yet. But never fear, the Thunderbolt I/O will become very useful very very soon! Just keep your eyes out for the products!

What not a lot of people know is that the new SDXC card slot in the Macs can support up to 2TB of Removable memory. I got this information from cNet. Please refer to their website or youtube "cNet reviews for the new 2011 iMacs" for more information.

Cosmetic and Hardware Updates in the LATE 2011 MacBook Pro Lineup

Hey Guys. Tired of the "new" macbook pros' design? Want Apple to design a new one? Well... Apple is known for fooling people into thinking that their Apple Devices are the hottest things on the market. What Apple likes to do is do what they like to call "the refresh" or updates to their products. Some are fully cosmetics, but you still know what the device is, many of the times it's just the hardware that people really care about.

So why am I talking about this so early in the year? Because like I said, Apple is known to fool people into thinking that they have the hottest gadgets in the United States (or in your current country, whether it may be Taiwan, Japan, China, Indonesia etc). Apple likes to refresh their Computer's designs every couple of years. Example: Their iMacs. They recently redesigned the cosmetics in 2010 so they will not be getting any cosmetic changes any time soon. We've seen the MacBook Pro Unibody design for 4 years now, and I'm positive that we'll see a change in the design of the unibody macbook pros in Late October or early November of 2011 (this year folks). If not, that's ok too.

I bring this up because it's been 4 years since the major cosmetic change from the Power Book g4 to the MacBook Pro. We will MOST LIKELY see is probably the thickness of the machine. The lid will most likely take the "shape/thinness" of the MacBook Air, the actual "body" of the Unibody will most likely lose .05". Instead of being a nice .95", it will either drop down to . 90" or .85" (at the most). Will this be enough for me to spend ANOTHER $1200 on a macbook pro or will I not care and keep the one I've got? Will this be enough for YOU to spend ANOTHER $1200 on the MacBook Pro? Why or Why not?

It's not only going to be the cosmetic changes that we, Apple Consumers, will see, it will also be the internal components that will be updated as well. If you'd like to wait another 9-10 months, great! Patience is virtue. But remember, this is not for another 9-10 months, and Apple has already designed these computers for 2011-2014 3 years ago.

Keep that in mind. It keeps you buying their stuff. It works!

New Thunderbolt technology was released to the Apple Consumers all over the world on Thursday, February 24th of 2011. Will this I/O port be found in the iMacs and Mac Pros? Signs point to YES!

The new I/O port created by Intel was released in the all new, early 2011 MacBook Pros refresh! This port can be used as a Mini-Display port with Audio and Video. Audio and Video support in the Mini-Display port is huge for Apple's new 2011 MacBook Pro 13" models because in their last generation, only the higher end MacBook Pros received the Audio AND video support in the mini-display. This means that you can now use a 3rd party HDMI to Mini-Display port device and hook up your MacBook Pro to your HDTV.

Thunderbolt can not only do that, but later in the year, we will start to see devices created specifically for the new I/O port. The once proud Mini-Display port gets prouder when it realizes it can transfer data at a whopping 10 GBS PER SECOND! No, that was NOT a typo! You read right. So instead of transferring data through Firewire 800 or 400 or even USB 2.0 or 3.0, just hook up your Thunderbolt cord to both MacBook pros and start sharing large files such as movies, projects and more!

Apple likes to give power to the people. They do an amazing job by giving our consumers what we've been asking for! Apple's MacBook Pro line-up now features Dual Core Intel Core i5 and i7 for the 13" models and QUAD core for the higher end 15" and 17" models. Talk about sheer power! You also get updated RAM! So instead of multi-tasking, rendering videos/photos at a measly 1060MHz, you can now do it at 1333MHz... But that's for one 2GB RAM stick. Multi-tasking will be nothing to the computer now.

There is one slight downfall as to Apple's launch of their MacBook Pro 13's... They do not have a DEDICATED Graphics Card. It's all integrated.

Intel claims that this will make the computer run more efficiently and give the user a longer lasting battery life. But if you also would like to increase your battery life, go ahead and spend another $120 on a 120GB SSD. There are no moving parts, it's just like a Flash/Thumb drive. This will extend your battery life as it uses less battery power and it's also safer to use. If you were to drop your computer, it will have little effect on the SSD.

You're better off buying the $1200 MacBook Pro 13, NOT THE 2.7GHz MACBOOK PRO 13. I say this because even though they come with intel core i7, they are still Dual Core. You won't notice a HUGE difference in speed. If you're looking to buy either the high end 15" or the 17", that depends on your usage. If you're looking for portability, but also speed/power, the high end 15" should do you nicely. But if you're looking for portability, speed/power AND larger screen real estate, then you should go for the 17".

LG ALLY GETS THE ANDROID 2.2

Hey guys! The Ally finally gets it's android 2.2 update and it has some cool features, but still does not make me completely happy. But this will do, I suppose.

The ally now features:
- 3G mobile hotspot (allowing other devices to connect to the internet through this service wirelessly)
- 3 axis rotation
- updated messaging color scheme
- updated youtube app
- updated settings scheme
- updated google voice command color scheme
- now has the lock/unlock sounds
And a few others i cant remember at the top of my head. But thanks for reading and i will talk to you later and give you the full review!

MACBOOK PRO 13 REFRESH - BASED OFF OF MB AIR!!

Hey Guys! Looking for a new Apple MacBook Pro computer, but you're not sure when to buy? Do NOT buy a MacBook Pro RIGHT NOW!!! THEY ARE DO FOR A REFRESH!!!

The macbook pro lines are usually updated/refreshed every 200-210 days (give/take a few days).

Here are some thoughts regarding the new refresh:

The new MacBook Air recently got an update with it's new design (physical and "logical" - meaning the logic board was redesigned). Not only was the Air's logic board redesigned, so was it's physical structure and the display. It now has a nice 1440x900 Display. This is on the 13.3" display. The 11.1" display still has a slightly higher resolution than the MacBook PRO 13!!

This leads me to believe that Apple will implement the MacBook Air's 13.3" display into the MacBook Pro 13 giving it a 1440x900 Display, then the 15" MBP will get the 1600x1050 pixel display (native) and finally, the behemoth MacBook Pro would get the 1900x1200 display (well over HD). These are simply thoughts regarding the macbook pro refresh.

We all want speed and power in a portable device. But if you're one of the many people who purchased a 2010 MacBook Pro with the VERY outdated Intel Core 2 Duo Processors, you should be thinking the same thing: why didn't the MOST POPULAR MAC get the intel core i3 processor??

Because the MacBook Pro 13 did not get the intel core i3 processor, the base/entry model macbook pro, doesn't deserve the "pro" title. Using a computer with an outdated processor is very agitating. There are other computers on the market with faster processors that are more up-to-date. The MacBook Pro 13 is getting left behind in the market.

Mr. Steve Jobs, PLEASE STOP PUSHING INTEL CORE 2 DUO ON THE MACBOOK PRO 13!! THEY ARE OUT DATED AND WE, THE CUSTOMERS/CONSUMERS OF YOUR PRODUCTS, WOULD LIKE MORE POWER. THANKS!!

We should see an update on the graphics, cpu/gpu, display, and hopefully, a new, slender/slimmer/sexier design.

LG ALLY RENAMED LG PROBE

I love the phone's keyboard. I'm VERY disappointed that I have to give up this keyboard for some other phone. But I seriously need to trade this model for something else. I'm very very very very disappointed with LG's Ally. It should be renamed the LG Probe due to it's problematic issues.

The first Ally I purchased had:
- display issues
- dismounting sd-card issues
- physical and capacitive buttons on the front side of the phone didn't illuminate after the 1st month/half
- the headset would RATTLE!!!!!

The second Ally (replacement)
- There was a scratch... ON THE INSIDE OF THE DISPLAY
- There were DEAD PIXELS

The THIRD ally (replacement - currently - and is getting it replaced... AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
- HEADSET RATTLES!!!!!!!
- THE SPRING FOR THE SLIDER FEELS... WEAK..
- The dedicated camera key rattles when the phone rattles!!!!!!

I DO NOT LIKE THIS PHONE! I LOVE THE KEYBOARD BUT I HAVE TO GIVE THAT UP FOR SOME OTHER PHONE!!!!!!! WHAT IN THE WORLD?!?!?!?!??! I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!!!!!!

WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS PHONE????
NO!!!!!!!!!!!! THE WORLD'S WORST PHONE EVER CREATED, I'M SURE!!!!!!!!!!

If you're out in the market for a new computer, but would like to purchase a MacBook Pro 13", now is NOT the time to buy as it is almost time for Apple to refresh their MacBook Pro line up. Its been 8 months since Apple's MacBook Pro refresh. So if youre looking for possible updates, here they are:
- NO MORE INTEL CORE 2 DUO; intel core i3 for entry model MBP 13
- Updated GPU's
- firewire 400 ports back (please)
- possible battery life update (for bad or for good)

I was personally disappointed when Apple stayed with the VERY oudated intel core 2 duo CPU's, which leads me to the first possible update, the intel core i3 chip for their entry model MacBook Pro 13. Apple's MacBook Pro 13 and the MacBook White are two very similar products. There is just a fine line seperating the two products which is not sufficient in the eyes of the consumer/customer.

The next possible update is their GPU's. The graphics is fine right now, but we need to see better preformance.

The third possible update would be the possible return of the oh so famous, firewire 400 port as many of us need for camcorders or external hard drives that need firewire 400. The disappointment in customer and or consumer rises with each refresh.

I mentioned earlier that the MacBook Pro 13 will finally get the power it deserves with the intel core i3 chip but because of this, the battery life may be decreased significantly. This leads to another thought; Apple may just want to reserve the i3/i5/i7 chips for the higher end computers for sheer power/preformance, and leave the MacBook Pro with a "new" update with 2.66 ghz as its entry model, and 3.06 ghz with the higher end MacBook Pro 13. But still leaving it behind with the Intel Core 2 duo chips.

Will Apple listen to their customers and or consumers for greater power and better preformance? Or will Apple ignore their customers and or consumers and continue with what they believe will be best for the consumer or customers? We will find out in just a few weeks in the keynote with Mr. Steve Jobs.

APPLE MACBOOK PRO UPDATES

Its been 8 months since apple's macbook pros got their update, and in about a month or so, Apple's macbook pros will get its update on its processor, HDD, graphics and the screen realestate.

Apple's macbook pros currently have intel core 2 duo, which is seriously out of date, and its about time the 13 inch macbook pros DESERVE the "pro" title. The graphics need to also be updated a little, but with respect to the macbook pro's screen realestate.

I'm unsure that apple will update its HDD as it is large enough, and with $50 more, you can purchase a larger HDD. Or you can purchase one at Fry's. The current size of the HDD in the base model macbook pro (13) is 250 GB. So i dont think that apple will update its HDD.

The screen realestate will probably be a no because it hasnt been updated (when it SHOULD be).

LG ALLY TIPS AND TRICKS

Do you have an LG Ally, and is sick of its lag? Well you dont need to be irritated anymore because you can download the application called LauncherPro free at the Market place. Its an orange square application with a black house in it.

This application is marvilous because it provides smooth scrolling, and great features that allows you to set the home screen, behavior, dock settings and much more.

Using this application for about 2 hours, ive noticed a HUGE improvement in overall PREFORMANCE. Do NOT use live wallpaper for this application as you will notice the lag. Just using a simple wallpaper will be suffiecient. Im pretty sure i spelled that word wrong but thats ok. Haha.

Go to your marketplace application right now and download Laucher Pro and also, just for fun, find a Nexus Rev. Application in your market place today. =)

LG ALLY RENAMED LG PROBE DUE TO ITS PROBLIMATIC AREAS

A local in beaverton, oregon states that LG's first android, then Ally should be properly renamed the LG Probe due to the user's numerous encounters with its problimatic areas.

The Ally seemed to be a decent phone, but the last decent phones I've used in the past 6 years have been just that; decent. "The Ally comes short on decent. In fact, the phone is so problimatic, it shouldn't even be CONSIDERED 'decent' thats how poorly designed it was" says a local teenager whose had his Ally for 3 months now. "Nothing But trouble" says another local from the Portland Metro area. "This Phone may be pretty, but you may need to ask yourself again before you shell out $150 for a phone. Some might say you get a great keyboard, but if that's the only 'great' feature about the phone, then I'm better off spending an extra $20 for LG's Vortex."

What do you consider as a consumer when youre out phone shopping again? I personally consider how well the phone actually functions rather than the way it looks. But because of the fancier, nicer, "cooler" looking smart phones and PDA's out on the market with winmo, apple or android OS, the consumers seem to care little about how well the product actually functions until they actually purchase and testdrive the product for a few days.

A lot of people are looking into smart phones these days for email, text or even yes, video chatting with relatives over the holidays. Some local nerds and geeks predict that the home computer may be very soon obsolite as phones become more and more advanced. People dont just use phones to make phone calls anymore. Many people use their smart phones such as blackberries, winmo, iphone, or android phones to watch and upload vids to youtube, send and print photos, sync music with their apple tv, and more. A phone nowadays can do much more than just make a call. And the LG Ally is not short of THAT.

Would i recommend this phone still? Yes if they dont mind a fe glitches here and there.

TIPS AND TRICKS FOR LG'S ALLY AND OTHER ANDROIDS

Did you ever figure out how to make your phone vibrate when you get a text message or email? Well, in any other... basic phone, you can go into the settings or press and hold the key on the dial pad and it will set to vibrate mode. The LG Ally (or any other android phone is very different, but to set the the phone to vibrate whenever to get a text or email is all the same.

-How Set The Vibrate-To-Text Mode On Your Android Device-
By the "vibrate-to-txt", I mean setting the settings/preferences to whenever you receive a text or email, it vibrates.

1. Wake/power on your android device
2. Touch the messaging "folder"
3. Once the messaging "folder" is open, hit the menu key and scroll to the very bottom. That is where you can set the vibration thingy. :D

See? 3 easy steps. I had to do some digging around to get this information, as it is not in the hand book... or so I think.

Apple iPod Touch 2nd Generation

It seems to me that the all might apple inc. Has a problem with their ipod touch. As if that were anything new, right? The iPod touch has always been my choice ipod whenever going anywhere. But because of some... Many... Technical issues surrounding the iPod touch, it may not be the choice iPod for consumers.

You're going to blow $230 on an iPod. If you're smart, you're going to purchase a case for your device. But wait, what's the point in having a case if the case is going to scratch your device? Well, that's where Zagg comes in! Zagg is a company in which they specialize in making "cases" for any mobile device known to man. Well, almost all mobile devices. Some would include the famous cell phone and ipod craze, laptop computers, digital cameras and more!

Say you buy an iPod touch, an iSkin case, and a zagg case thing. The iPod alone will cost you $230, both cases will cost you $30 each. In the end, youre spending $290 on a product that will last you a little over a year, and SOMETHING will go wrong with your device. Things such as the headphone jack not working properly, the display might become "bent" and then cracked, you will get a dead pixel right in the middle of your beautiful "Retina Display" too! Many many technical issues surrounding the device that Apple Inc. Has not yet taken care of!

Say you want an iPod Nano (the newest generation with the touch screen). Sure. The device is amazing and gorgeous! But what's the point in having an "iPod touch mini"? Sure its cute looking, but I kinda miss being able to play games on the nano.

Or maybe you have a shit load of songs that you listen to. So you purchase the iPod classic with 120 GB of flash memory. Cool. Just enough space to add your library of 10 million songs from every single artist on itunes and from other countries. Great. But you will still need to purchase a case (as most people do). But it does not matter when you purchase the case. Because you are still spending money added to your device.

Ex: you purchase an ipod classic. A month later you buy full protection case from zagg. A week later you add an outer case for your device. Say your ipod classic costs you $300. And both cases total in $60. Doesn't that sound a bit pricey?

The best way of how to manage your money is to purchase everything in cash. When you lay those $20's out on the counter, you're going to want to pull back, like that time jillian did when she found out that bryan griffen didnt want to move in with her. She dumped him. Poor dog.

But anyways, you will have a lot of problems with iPod devices. Esp the iPod touch. So be wise when purchasing an iPod. Buy with cash.

LG ALLY REVIEW PROS AND CONS

BLG comes out with the new LG Ally. AKA the iron man 2 phone! The LG ally features a bright 3.2 inch, 400x800 capacitive touch screen display. Below the display, we have the two capacitive touch back and search buttons. For the physical buttons, we have the call receive, home, menu and the call end button. The call end button also functions as the sleep/wake and power on/off switch. When we slide out the keyboard, we have the back and search buttons on the left side just above the alt and shift keys. And the home and menu keys are where the send and end buttons would be on the right side of the slide out board.

The keyboard is very nice and very well designed. My first impression was none other than "oh my goodness". I thought I would have issues adjusting from the lg voyager's keyboard to the ally's keyboard. If you take a closer look, you will notice that the keys are very different. Instead of having two space buttons on either side of the keyboard, the space bar is conventional. Meaning that the keyboard you would find on the ally is the same on the us keyboard. Of course, the "alt" keys will be different, but the space bar will be in the middle (as people prefer it that way). I personally liked to use the voyager's keyboard better.

The lg ally is also not the fastest "snap dragon" droid, but it's decent. Its not something you will use to consistantly download movies or for the heavy user. No. The lg ally is just a decent phone for the "decent" user. If you are looking for a phone with an android os, but are not willing to spend more than $50, the lg ally is the phone for you... that is if you don't mind having a somewhat slow or laggy phone. But once you got the phone going, the laggieness stops.

By lagginess, I mean when you slide the phone open to use the QWERTY keyboard. The phone will take a little bit to realize what its got to do, but that's ok. It won't kill you unless you consistently need a phone to realize it as soon as you slide it open or whatever. Ok. That wasn't professional, but who cares right? I'm a 17 year old hs student who is bored and is at a local winco's on a... Tuesday night. Whatever.

The overal design of this phone is amazing. Amazing keyboard, amazing display, nice features and affordable. But what makes the lg ally not attractive? Because of the fact that the lg ally is portrayed with iron man, the phone is thought to be fast and powerful. But it isn't. In reality, its just another decent phone. Marketing right? That's how they get you. But that's ok too. Another thing wrong with this phone is the battery life. It doesn't have the best battery ever... oh wait, yes it does!! Its because I'm a heavy user on this phone. Hahaha. Plus I download lots of apps so that may lead to the weak battery.

Would I recommend this phone? Depends on the user. If you need a fast phone, and if you hate lag of any kind... the ally is not the phone for you. If you don't mind some lag, and you want a decent android os phone for a decent price of $50 (after $100 mail in rebate), then yes. The ally is for you!

LEDGlow

I recently got the Million Color LED Underbody Kit by LEDGlow.

The kit itself is amazing. Bright lights, nice colors, like the sound activated feature as well. The installation was pretty much easy... pretty much. If you're the typical perfectionist, the difficulty of installation will vary as vehicles vary. But if we're talking about the actual installation on our truck, then on a scale of 1-10 (1 being easy and 10 being extremely difficult), I'd give the kit an overal 7.5/8.

Installation Pros and Cons

Figuring out where to put the light bars were easy

- Cons -
Wiring was very tedious. I'm a perfectionist and I wanted to make sure this kit looks professionally installed. Pushing the wires and figuring out where the wires should NOT go was very difficult. Especially in the front. It was difficult to get it through a hole in the sides of the doors. Setting up the control box was relatively easy. Not too bad, but it still required a lot of attention and questioning.

The battery disappointed me very much. They sent a dead, corroded A27/27A battery in the remote. I had to travel to 6 locations BEFORE finding a Batteries Plus in Beaverton, OR on Canyon Rd. VERY annoying!!

Product Score 1-5 (1 being the worst - 5 being the best) 4/5.

Lights were great. Was not expecting the installation to be EASY. So Duh. The battery was the disappointing part. Very aggravating.

Apple Event Sept 1st 2010

According to Dave also known as Lack78 on Youtube, Apple is holding an event on September 1st in San francisco, California. He also stated of rumors going around about Apple's possible new iPod line-up, "Death to click-wheel iPods" and the Apple TV which will possibly be renamed "iTV".

I personally do not believe that everyone should get over worked and overly excited about what might be. By that, I mean the iPod Touch. I wouldn't hold my breath for a FRONT FACING CAMERA ON AN iPOD TOUCH. I don't think Apple will do that. BUT that's just my opinion.

Some of you are wondering: "Why has Apple put cameras on the iPod Nano but not the iPod Touch?"

Answer: Because Apple's iPod Nano were losing sales, so Apple decided to implement a camera onto the iPod Nano.

BECAUSE the iPod Nanos were losing sales, I do not believe Apple will implement the front facing camera onto the iPod Touch.

iPhone 4 Antenna Fail!

iPhone 4 was said that it was Apple's (quote) "... most successful product in Apple's History". What the consumers didn't realize was that they're purchasing a product that had (quote) "reception problems". Apple claims that their iPhone 4 was displaying bars that (quote) "were never real in the first place". Apple also claims that their iPhone was (quote) "... mistakingly displaying 2 more bars then it should for a given signal strength". In other words, if the device displays 4 bars, you really have 2.

"... gripping almost any mobile phone in certain ways will reduce its reception by 1 or more bars". Apple points out that other major phone manufacturers also have that very same issue. "But some users have reported that iPhone 4 can drop 4 or 5 bars when tightly held in a way which covers the black strip in the lower left corner of the metal band. This is a far bigger drop than normal, and as a result some have accused the iPhone 4 of having a faulty antenna design". What the F***? Sounds like Apple is trying to pin the blame on the consumer for the reception issues.

It's not the iPhone 4 itself people. Apple claims that the users of the iPhone 4's (quote) "most likely are in an area with a weak signal strength, but they don't know it because we are erroneously displaying 4 or 5 bars". What does this mean? It's not the iPhone itself. Its the area the user is in (duh). So move! But if you're living in an area that isn't covered well just yet... move anyways if you want better reception.
