Dr. Martens for Hypebeast Shoe

2011-12-12T22:46:00.001+08:00

Hypebeast and Dr. Martens join forces on a special release of a shoe inspired by the 3989 5-eye Brogue. A shoe with significant stature in men's fashion, Hypebeast looked to modernize a style that has been a prominent fixture on the feet of many over the last few years. The usual overlays that come to represent a typical brogue have been exchanged in favor of a more minimalist debossed brogue detailing. This understated concept is further applied on an all-black and iconic DSP outsole. A custom insole bearing the logos of both brands features a commemorative logo. Sizes range from US 7 to US 11 and will be limited to 150 pairs globally.

Buckler Autumn Winter 2012

2011-02-13T00:10:00.004+08:00

Andrew Buckler's show was a populist event. The designer made the block of Grand Street between Mercer and Greene in front of his store into his runway, and passersby mingled with fashion editors to watch as models, mostly in black and gray, stormed down the street. “The collection is based on anonymous street art,” Buckler explained in his shop shortly before the show. “The idea was, put the guys into the street and the street as an extension of the idea of the collection.” And just how did Buckler get the permits? "I won't say it was easy,” he said. “There were a lot of forms to be filled out and applications for the government, and you had to go through the NYPD. There was a fee, but it wasn’t as bad as you might think.”

Thierry Mugler Autumn Winter 2012

2011-01-20T18:42:00.001+08:00

LADY LUCK: Nicola Formichetti, the new creative director at the Thierry Mugler fashion house and stylist to Lady Gaga, has tapped the pop sensation to create an exclusive soundtrack for his men’s wear show in Paris on Wednesday.

He told WWD that Gaga would be "musical director" for the show, among the most anticipated debuts of Men's Fashion Week, which runs through Jan. 23 in the French capital. Word has it she will remix a never-heard track from her forthcoming album, due out in May.

Formichetti, also an editor and consultant, joined the Paris-based fashion and fragrance firm last September, overseeing two newly engaged designers: Sébastien Peigné, a 10-year veteran of Balenciaga, for women's wear; and Romain Kremer, who has shown experimental looks under his fledgling Paris label since 2005, for men's.

An Internet-savvy dynamo, Formichetti has been planting teaser images online ahead of the men's show, depicting a model coated in black latex and wearing a black biker jacket and spiked metal helmet.
