Premature Baby Care Tips

Premature Baby Care Tips - How to Care for a Baby Born Premature

Premature babies always needed a special care because they are so small and delicate and fragile. After their birth they receive immediately special care. They are usually cared in incubators, under strict supervision. They are fed artificially intravenously and sometimes they are helped to breathe, being connected to special devices. Their vital signs are monitored. The doctor decides how long a premature baby will be kept under supervision. Even after they come home from hospital, they still need medical periodic control, in order to prevent any unwanted problem.

Premature Baby Care Tips

Talk to your doctor about feeding your baby. He can prescribe vitamins, iron and a special diet if the baby is artificially fed. Vitamins are sometimes offered to premature babies in order to help them stay healthy and to grow. A premature baby needs supplementary iron. After approximately four months of ingesting iron drops, your baby will have the necessary amount of iron like a full term baby. Your physician might want your baby to ingest iron drops for a year or even more than a year.
Your baby maybe does not grow as quickly as a full term baby during his two years of life. Premature babies are often smaller in this period. It sometimes happens that they grow in bursts. They often catch up with the others after some time. To have a record of your baby’s evolution, your doctor may use special evolution diagrams for premature babies. Your physician will also want to find out aspects like how dynamic your baby is, when your baby crawls for the first time and when your baby sits up for the first time. These are aspects doctors in general want to find out about all babies.

Your Baby’s Feeding Program

Firstly, most premature babies are fed 8 to 10 times a day. You mustn’t wait to pass more than 4 hours between two feedings, as if you do, your baby can get dehydrated. Six to 8 wet napkins a day prove that your baby is having enough breast milk or artificial one. Premature babies often vomit after a feeding. If your baby vomits too much, he or she might not put on enough weight. Make sure to talk to your physician if you consider your baby is vomiting too much.
Even if they need special care when they are babies, premature children are not that different when they grow up.

Birth Defects

Birth Defects - What are they? | How do they occcur?

It is the most terrible thing for a mother to find out that her baby has any birth defect. One of the most frequent birth defects is a congenital problem of the baby’s heart. Nowadays these problems can be treated by modern surgery, even if your baby is new born.

Birth Defects

Birth defects can be defined as abnormalities of function, structure or body metabolism which are detected at birth. The problems have as results physical or mental disabilities or can even be lethal. There are over 4,000 various birth defects which range from tiny to significant, and even if most of them may be cured or treated, they can be considered the main reason of death in the first year of the life of the baby.
From recent statistics, approximately 150,000 babies are born having birth defects every year in the U.S . Birth defects may be produced by environmental, genetic, unknown factors.
Metabolic or structural defects are the ones in which they appear if a specific part of the body is miabsent or it is formed improperly or if there is a native problem in the chemistry of the body. Apart from heart defects, there are some other popular structural defects like spina bifida that is a disfunction in which the male urethra, where urine comes out of the penis is not in the right location. Defects in metabolism influences a single child among 3,500 babies. It often means a missing enzyme or an enzyme which was incorrectly formed. This kind of defect may be dangerous or even deadly, but doesn’t always produce any obvious abnormalities in the baby. A metabolic defect is also Tay-Sachs disease that is a lethal disease which influences the central nervous system and phenylketonuria, that influences the method by which the body handles protein.
Most of the times mothers are guilty because of these birth defects, as they don’t stop smoking during pregnancy, or they drink alcohol or they don’t respect a healthy eating diet. Moreover birth defects occur in regions with a highly radioactive structure of the atmosphere like Cernobil.
Finally mothers should avoid X ray consultations during the pregnancy, as well as the consumption of medicine or dying their hair or their eye brows and eye lashes.

Burt’s Bees Baby Bee Nourishing Oil User Reviews

The Burts Bee’s Baby Bee Nourishing Oil has received a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars from users on diapers.com and amazon.com.

Users almost unanimously love the Burt’s Bees Apricot Oil for babies and the only negative review I could find is from a user who is angry that the company has been bought out by Clorox, so for this reason she gave the oil (although really it is a rating for Burt’s Bees, not the oil) a low mark. This one poor rating has nothing to do with the baby oil itself and all of the other many reviewers only have very positive things to say about Burt’s Bees Baby Bee Nourishing Oil.

Reviewers say this is an amazing baby oil, it has a great apricot scent and leaves baby smelling yummy (but the scent is not overwhelming), is fantastic for dry skin, and leaves baby’s skin soft and smooth. Users love how this baby oil absorbs into the skin and never feels greasy and they say it is great for curing eczema and cradle cap. Many users recommend putting a cap or two of the oil in a warm bath to help babies with severe dry skin or with eczema and others suggest rubbing oil into baby’s head one hour before bath time to help with cradle cap. Then in the bath comb or brush baby’s hair to loosen the flaky skin before shampooing. Users say this will leave your baby’s head flake-free. Users are also pleased that this baby oil, and all Burt’s Bees products, are all natural and don’t contain any mineral oil. Users write that this baby oil is “worth every penny,” and is a “must have for babies.”

Advice: One user says that rosemary can trigger seizures in epileptics and warns to be careful if using Burt’s Baby Bee products because most of them contain this natural ingredient.

Flensted Mobile : Monkey Tree

2019-02-17T06:11:00.001+05:30

Flensted Monkey Tree Mobile

Flensted mobiles have been described as “visual poems,” and are perfect baby mobiles for over the crib, the changing table or any area where baby will spend time. These unique mobiles bring a sense of fun and whimsy to any space and are designed to last and be appreciated long after baby outgrows the crib.

Flensted Monkey Tree Mobile

Monkey Tree Mobile: Five swinging monkeys and a palm tree make up this whimsical mobile. Made of colored plastic shapes. Measures 23″ tall by 20″ wide.
Pros Summary:

Monkeys seem like they are flying through the air and babies can’t keep their eyes off this mobile

Cons Summary:

Mobile is made of paper so can tear if not treated carefully

About Flensted Mobiles

Flensted Mobiles are created so that the elements are in constant motion while the entire mobile maintains a harmonic balance. Each mobile is carefully assembled, and balanced by skilful hands. They are packed so that they are ready to hang.
Mobiles are a traditional craft in Denmark, but the modern mobile – as a decoration for the home – was created in 1954 by Christian Flensted and his wife Grethe. Their first design, the Stork mobile, was a great success, and now flies all over the world.
All Flensted mobiles are hand-made in Denmark, and offer high quality at a moderate price. Elements are assembled and packed by about 50 skilled home-workers and their families. Many of the original Flensted mobiles are still in production, but the contemporary designs are now the bestsellers.

Monkey Tree Mobile By Flensted Mobiles Users Reviews

Although there are not many user reviews for this product, the Flensted Monkey Tree mobile has so far received a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars from reviewers at babyearth.com and amazon.com.
Reviewers say their baby stares at this mobile for hours at a time and the monkeys seem like they are just floating through the air. Users love this mobile, and say it is cute to look at and has a wonderful simple style. The monkeys move with the wind and baby loves to chat with his monkey friends. Users also love that this mobile is so light and that the strings connected to the monkeys are invisible.
One user didn’t care for this mobile saying it is small, flimsy and is paper thin. However, this user also mentioned that she received it as a gift at her baby shower and how cheap it was for someone to only give her a $40 gift. So, I think if the gift wasn’t diamond covered and name brand, this user wasn’t going to be pleased.
However, this mobile is made from paper so be careful when hanging it as it is very delicate and can tear.
Note: This mobile does not attach to the crib but rather to a ceiling or wall hook.

My Two Cents

While I used one of the high tech electronic mobiles with a remote control for above my baby’s crib, I did attach a mobile similar to the Monkey Tree mobile above my daughter’s changing table. I just installed a hook in the ceiling above the table and then hung the mobile from this hook. The irony was that this very simple mobile turned out to be my daughter’s very favorite toy for her first 6 months. While she also loved her high tech mobile and I couldn’t have survived her infancy without that product, she was absolutely fascinated with this lightweight floating mobile and could lie on the changing table for as long as we would let her just to watch the animals float and spin around. After her diaper change, when we would pick her up, she would always reach out for the animals on this simple mobile and was so fascinated with touching and pulling at them and watching them jump and move as she let go.
Although this kind of mobile doesn’t necessarily fit in with our high tech, electronic lives where we insist that everything must be the newest, latest and most advanced model, I highly recommend purchasing such mobile for use above your changing table, crib, or wherever. It’s worth exposing your baby to as many different types of movements, textures, etc.. as possible and I don’t think you will be sorry with this wonderfully handcrafted mobile.

Fisher Price Precious Planet Mobile Negatives

There are a few complaints about this mobile due to some defective mobiles that some users ended up with. A few users report that their mobile only works a few seconds before suddenly shutting off. Others report that the music is not loud enough and you can only hear the mobile motor running. Most of these users say they exchanged their faulty mobile for another and had no problem with the second mobile. However, a few unlucky users also had trouble with the new mobile as well. These users recommend purchasing the mobile in a local store to make returns/exchanges easier. Many of them do say they eventually got a non-defective mobile that worked and it was worth the effort because this mobile is great.
There are also a few reports from users that the mobile canopy can suddenly detach and fall on baby. However, it is very lightweight and there are no reports of injury to baby. Several users also complain that the mobile goes through batteries very quickly.

Advice: One user says the sound on the mobile works better when you use name brand batteries rather than generic batteries.

There are many brands for baby feeding bottles but every bottle is not good for baby. So first you read these review best baby feeding bottles that give the best review of best brands of bottles.

1 Avent Baby Bottle

Unsettled and irritable behavior, known as fussing, is by far the most commonly known crying behavior in babies. Clinical studies show that the AVENT Bottle significantly reduces colic and fussing. Fussing is reduced especially at night.

Avent Baby Bottle

Pros Summary:

Help reflux and gas problems
Easy to clean
Durable—last through more than one child
Don’t leak—if put together correctly
BPA free plastic

Cons Summary:

Many users complain the bottle leaks—but this is because they do not put it together correctly—read the My Two Cents section below for instructions on how to put the bottle together correctly to prevent leaks.

Features Of Avent Natural Feeding Baby Bottle

Less Fussing:The Avent Natural Feeding baby bottle is clinically proven to significantly reduce fussing. Sleep and nutrition are vital to your baby’s health and happiness. A randomized clinical trial was carried out to see whether infant feeding bottle design affects “infant behavior”. The Philips AVENT bottle was shown to significantly reduce fussing by approximately 28 minutes a day as compared to the comparator bottle (46 min vs. 74 min, p=0.05). This was especially true during night-time.
Clinically Proven Anti-Colic Valve System: Allows air into the bottle instead of your baby’s tummy. As your baby feeds, the unique skirt on the AVENT Nipple flexes to allow air into the bottle instead of your baby’s tummy. Like natural breastfeeding your baby controls the milk flow.
High Durability: Honey-colored BPA-Free PES material for extra durability. This BPA-Free bottle (0% Bisphenol A) is made of honey-colored PES material for extra durability
Easy To Clean: Only three components for ease of cleaning. The feeding bottle consists of only three components for ease of cleaning and has a dormal cap for hygienic storage and transportation. In a randomized clinical trial the design of the Philips AVENT bottle was compared with another leading brand over a 12 month period. The maternal satisfaction in terms of ease of cleaning (p=0.0.04) and ease of assembly (p=0.02) was significantly better in the Philips AVENT bottle.
Fits Baby’s Growing Needs: Five different nipple flow rates are available.
BPA Free:This bottle is made from PES – a BPA-Free material.

Avent Baby Bottle User Reviews

The Avent Natural Feeding BPA Free Baby Bottle has received a rating of 3 out of 5 stars from users on diapers.com, toysrus.com and amazon.com.
Those who love the Avent baby bottle say it is the best baby bottle you can buy and is well worth the money. Users say these bottles do not leak (if the bottle is put together correctly), these bottles help to limit baby’s intake of air helping to minimize gas and reflux problems, and they are easy to clean. Many users also say the Avent bottles are durable bottles you can use throughout the years with more than one child.

Negatives for Avent Baby Bottle

However, there are also many, many negative reviews for this bottle, all complaining about the same thing. User after user says the Avent bottle leaks terribly, making it almost impossible to use. However, those who love this bottle offer advice to those with leaking problems telling them that the bottle leaks if you tighten the lid too tightly. If you tighten the lid correctly (as explained in the instructions that come with the bottle), the Avent baby bottle will not leak.

My Two Cents

The woman in charge of my daughter’s daycare center swears by the Avent bottles and she has been taking care of babies for almost 40 years. At home I use Born Free bottles, which I started to use when my daughter was a few weeks old due to the terrible gas she suffered from, but the daycare asked if they can use Avent bottles with my daughter while she is in their care. I told them to give it a try and my daughter had no problems drinking from this bottle, and the few times I fed her from it the bottle seemed fine—no leaks. However, this is because the daycare workers showed me how to properly put the lid on the bottle to prevent leaks.

How to Put Together An Avent Bottle To Prevent Leaks

Put on the lid, turn half way in the wrong direction (you will hear clicking noises) and then turn back the other way till locked. This will prevent any leaks and it is very simple to do.
So, give the Avent bottles a try but just make sure to follow the instructions on how to properly seal the Avent bottle lid to ensure you won’t have issues with leaks.

Born Free BPA Free Baby Bottle User Reviews

The Born Free Baby Bottle has received a rating of 4.3 out 5 stars from users on toysrus.com, amazon.com, and diapers.com.
Users really love the Born Free baby bottle and reviewer after reviewer raves that the Born Free bottle is worth every penny. They say this bottle never causes a baby to develop gas and is easier to clean than Dr. Brown bottles, although it does still have two more parts per bottle to clean than other conventional bottles. Many of the reviewers claim to have tested many various brands of bottles on the market and this is the favorite of all the bottles. Users say this bottle never leaks and it even works great with breastfeeding babies.
There are very few negative reviews for this bottle. One reviewer claims the measurements on the side of the bottle are not correct (although this has not been confirmed and no one else makes such a claim), and a few users say the bottle cap doesn’t stay on well when traveling. A couple of reviewers report that the bottle leaks.

My Two Cents

My daughter suffered from terrible gas during her first three months of eating. I kept trying different bottles and nothing seemed to help her stomach discomfort when eating. I finally switched to the Born Free bottles and within a day saw a vast improvement in my daughter’s stomach ailment. While they didn’t cure her gassy stomach completely, there was a noticeable improvement in how much gas she developed when eating. Also, washing the extra parts for this bottle really isn’t a big deal. It took maybe an extra minute to wash the parts of five Born Free bottles at a time. After washing, I just put them in a microwave sterilizer and then let them air dry (after five months in age you don’t have to microwave sterilize bottles anymore. I highly recommend the Born Free bottles for babies with gassy stomachs.

How Dr. Brown Bottles Work

Dr. Brown’s bottle features a patented two-piece internal vent system that works unlike any other bottle design. The vent system fully vents the bottle for vacuum-free feeding, which is called positive-pressure flow, similar to breastfeeding. As the baby feeds, air is channeled from the nipple collar through the vent system, bypassing the breast milk or formula, to the back of the bottle. Air never mixes with the breast milk or formula which minimizes oxidation and helps maintain essential nutrients like vitamins C, A and E.
Babies feed more comfortably because the vent system allows them to nurse without fighting the negative effects of a vacuum or the discomfort of ingesting air bubbles. This helps to reduce feeding problems like colic, spit-up, burping, and gas. The breast milk or formula flows freely, without nipple collapse.

Health Benefits Of Dr. Brown Baby Bottles

A first-of-its-kind university study to measure nutrient levels in breast milk and formula during a typical 20-minute feeding determined that Dr. Brown’s fully vented bottles help maintain levels of important nutrients like vitamins C, A & E.

Helps maintain vitamins C, A & E:
Patented internal vent system is proven to minimize oxidation of breast milk and formula, to help maintain essential nutrients.
Positive-pressure feeding:
Fully vented bottle design provides vacuum-free feeding similar to breastfeeding.
Helps reduce colic:
Vent system eliminates negative pressure and air bubbles to help reduce colic, spit-up, burping and gas.

Materials In Dr. Brown Baby Bottles

Dr. Brown’s bottles are made of BPA-free polypropylene plastic or BPA-free borosilicate glass. All components of the Dr. Brown’s bottle, including the vent insert, vent reservoir, travel disk, nipple collar, and cap are also BPA-free polypropylene. Nipples are made of medical-grade silicone.

Where are your bottles made?

Each Dr. Brown’s package clearly notes where that product was produced. Dr. Brown’s takes its commitment to quality extremely seriously, and rigorously tests and performs quality control on all its products, beyond government regulations, in the United States.

Dr. Brown Natural Flow Baby Bottle User Reviews

Dr. Brown’s Natural Flow baby bottles have received a rating of 4 out 5 stars from reviewers on amazon.com, toysrus.com and diapers.com.
Users with babies who suffer from gas, reflux or who have colic absolutely love the Dr. Brown bottles and say the relief they provide for their baby is absolutely worth the cost of these bottles. Reviewers say the Dr. Brown bottles keep their babies gas free and have helped to reduce the amount of spit up from their babies. Many users say that after switching from another brand of bottle to Dr. Brown’s bottles, their baby’s gas discomfort instantly reduced or vanished. Several users can’t say enough about how well these bottles work for minimizing gas and spit up problems. Users also inform readers that Dr. Brown bottles fit the Medela Breast Pump System and therefore can be used for direct pumping with any Medela Breast Pump. Overall, users say “Excellent Bottle,” “Best Bottle Ever,” and “Love Dr. Brown Bottles.”

Dr. Brown Bottle Negatives

There are also many users who dislike the Dr. Brown natural flow baby bottle. However, there is sort of an ongoing war occurring across the message review boards where those who love these Dr. Brown bottles feel the need to respond to the naysayers and defend the Dr. Brown bottles.
The main complaint about the Dr. Brown baby bottles is that there are too many parts to clean. Users say it just takes too long to wash these bottles. However, many of the advocate users of this bottle respond to these complaints saying it is really only two extra parts to wash per bottle—an extra two minutes at the most for washing a set of bottles. They say these bottles are only difficult to clean if you are “a lazy dishwasher.” However, many, many users do grip about this extra washing. But, on the plus side, these bottles are dishwasher safe.
Another major negative for many users for this bottle is that it leaks. Many reviewers say Dr. Brown’s is the worst leaking bottle they have ever used. However, again, those who love this bottle came to the defense saying the Dr. Brown bottles only leak if the bottle is not put together correctly or if the bottle is filled up past the recommended line. They say if you follow these two instructional steps the bottle will never leak.
A few users also say the bottle is too pricey and one or two users say it doesn’t help with gas.

My Two Cents

After reading hundreds of reviews for this bottle I have come to a few conclusions. If your baby is suffering from gas, reflux or colic then it is absolutely worth spending the money to purchase this bottle and to take the time to put the bottle together correctly, and to wash a few extra parts. For anyone out there who has had a baby suffer from gas, stomach pain, and excessive spitting up, you know that you will do anything to help alleviate you baby’s discomfort. And, from the reviews, it does sound like the Dr. Brown natural flow baby bottles will help to minimize your baby’s gas problem.
However, if your baby does not have difficulty eating and does not suffer from gas then perhaps you do not need these special bottles and can instead purchase a less expensive, more conventional bottle for your baby.

Medela Baby Bottle User Reviews

Medela baby bottles have received a rating of 4 out of 5 stars from reviewers on toysrus.com, amazon.com and target.com.
Most users seem really pleased with this bottle saying it is super easy to clean (no extra parts) and the wide base nipples are great for nursing babies since they help to prevent nipple confusion when switching between the breast and the bottle. Users also love that these bottles attach directly to the Medela breast pumps and can be used for both storing milk and for feeding baby. Reviewers report the Medela bottles are durable, don’t leak, and the measurements are easily readable. Summing up, users have written, “wonderful bottles,” “best bottles on the market,” and “great bottles for breastfeeding baby.”
However, some users really dislike the Medela bottle saying because there is no air vent system the nipple can collapse, and others say they just hate the bottle nipple which is too long and too wide at the base. Some also think the slow-flow nipple is too fast for newborns. Other users complain that these bottles leak horribly.

Do Medela Baby Bottles Leak?

There were many users who made it a point to write that the Medela bottles do not leak and are fantastic bottles. However, there were others (more than just a few) who claim this bottle really leaks. Which is true?
Like with any baby product the best thing to do is test it out for you. Maybe those with leak problems are putting the bottle together incorrectly or screwing the cap on too tightly. Or maybe this is just a leaky bottle. But, if this were the case why do so many reviewers say this bottle doesn’t leak? However, I don’t think those users who claim this bottle leaks are making it up. I’m sure their bottles really are leaking.

My Two Cents: To Buy Or Not To Buy?

Give the Medela bottles a try, especially if you have purchased a Medela breast pump since Medela bottles are almost always included for free with such a purchase. Test the bottles out and see how your baby latches on and responds to the nipple and test to see if the bottle leaks for you. Also take the time to read the instructions for how to put the bottle together correctly to ensure it won’t leak. I have read reviews from many bottles where people claim the bottle leaks-but it is leaking for them because they did not put the bottle together correctly. It’s like buying a crib mobile and claiming it doesn’t work when really you just forgot to put the batteries in.
And this is good advice for any bottle. Try one or two out before investing lots of money in purchasing a full set. See if you and your baby like the bottle and if it seems good then you can go and purchase enough bottles for your feeding needs.

Playtex Drop Ins Original Nursers User Reviews

The Playtex Drop Ins Original Nursers have received a rating of 4 out of 5 stars from users on amazon.com, diapers.com and toysrus.com.
Users really love this bottle and many have declared it the best bottle for breastfeeding moms. Users also say this bottle is great for gassy babies because the liner helps to push all of the air out of the bottle, so baby doesn’t swallow air when feeding. Reviewers report this bottle is easy to clean (you just throw away the disposable liners) and wash bottle and nipple, it doesn’t cause nipple confusion for breastfeeding babies, it helps to keep baby gas free, and it doesn’t leak. Users have declared the Playtex Drop Ins bottles to be the “best bottle,” saying they “love Drop Ins.”

Playtex Drop Ins Bottle Negatives

A few users don’t care for this bottle but there is no major cohesive reason for this dislike. Some users say the bottle leaks and a few others say it doesn’t help prevent gas in their baby. Some reviewers also feel it is wasteful to throw out the disposable bottle liners each time. One or two say the bottle is not durable. However, many users, even those who gave positive reviews for the Playtex bottle say the Playtex Drop Ins Nursers are very heat sensitive and both the bottle and the liner can warp if exposed to too much heat. Follow the instructions that come with the bottle for sterilizing and caring for the bottle. (You cannot boil this bottle).
In summary, this bottle has received great reviews and is worth giving a try.

Baby Oil And Lotion

2019-02-14T15:08:00.001+05:30

Baby Oil And Lotion

Soap and water can really dry out a baby’s skin. To help keep your baby’s skin soft and smooth, always apply a thin layer of baby oil or baby moisturizing lotion to your baby’s skin after bath time. You can even use some baby oil to give your baby a relaxing, just before bedtime massage.

Dry Baby Skin Problems

Baby lotions and oils can help with a myriad of baby skin problems from baby eczema to cradle cap. By exploring user reviews for various baby oils and lotions you can find out which product has worked best to help clear up severe cases of dry baby skin, which product is safest to use on babies with sensitive skin, and which product clears up mystery rashes, crusty dry patches and flaky skin.
Users on the review boards also provide lots of helpful tips on how to deal with many of the common baby skin problems and offer helpful advice on how to use these various baby lotions and oils to cure your baby’s skin aliments. We, of course, have summed up all of these comments and tips in our product review articles so that you can find all of the information you need in one place.

A Cure For Cradle Cap

For example, as a cure for cradle cap many users suggest rubbing baby oil or lotion on your baby’s head an hour or more before bath time. This will help to loosen all of those dry and stubborn scalp scales. Then during your baby’s bath use a baby hair brush or comb and brush away the scaly skin. Shampoo when finished.
I tested out this advice on my daughter’s cradle cap and found that it works really well. However, I personally recommend using a baby comb rather than a hair brush. Just pull the comb across your baby’s scalp at almost a flat angle (to prevent poking your baby in the head with the comb’s teeth). You should find that the dry skin and scales from the cradle cap will begin to pile up between the teeth of the comb. Repeat for a day or two until the cradle cap is gone. –Be sure not to scrape against your baby’s scalp too hard—you don’t want to cause your baby any discomfort or irritation.

Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump User Reviews

The Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump has received 4.5 out of 5 stars at both diapers.com and amazon.com. Overall, users seem to absolutely love this breast pump and I actually had to make an effort searching to find negative comments about the pump.
Reviewers love that the Ameda breast pump has few parts to clean and also are very pleased with how portable this pump is—it only weighs 1lb. Very light! Users also write that the pump is very powerful, is easy to use, expresses milk quickly, and is comfortable and easy on the nipples. Others also like the three power options available for use with this pump and one reviewer reports that one set of AA batteries will give you 3-4 40 minute pumping sessions. That’s a pretty long battery life. Users also say this is a great pump for busy moms or moms who have returned to work because of how fast you can pump milk. One woman said she could pump 4oz of milk in six minutes, another woman wrote she could pump 6-7oz of milk in 5 minutes and another woman claimed she could empty both breasts in 20-30 minutes. A real time saver compared to other pumps.
Ameda’s customer service has also received rave reviews. A few reviewers report that their pump or a part of their pump broke but Ameda sent them new pumps or new replacement parts for free within one business day, no receipt or proof of purchase needed. The negative comments for this breast pump are few. Some reviewers say the car adaptor does not work with all cars and a few users say the suction on the pump died after a few months of pumping. The biggest complaint made by several users is that this pump is noisy and makes a hospital-like beeping sound that can be annoying. However, almost all who complain about this fault still write that the pump is worth buying.

To sum up I will just quote from reviewers: “Love This Pump” and “Best Pump For a Busy Mom.

Avent Isis Manual Breast Pump User Reviews

The Avent Isis manual breast pump has received a rating of 4 out 5 stars from hundreds of reviewers at toysrus.com, target.com and diapers.com.
There seems to be no mixed feelings about this manual breast pump. Users either really, really love the pump or really, really hate it. The majority of reviewers are over the moon about the Avent Isis manual pump but there are a few reviewers here and there that really rip the pump to shreds.
So, what’s the controversy?

Avent Isis Manual Pump Pros

Overall, users love the Avent Isis manual breast pump saying it expresses milk efficiently, is really powerful, doesn’t leak and quickly initiates let down. Some women even say they have used the same pump for several kids (not having to replace it or buy a new one) reporting that the quality and durability of the pump are fantastic. Many reviewers are extremely impressed with how fast they can pump milk with the Avent Isis manual breast pump. After calculating the average amount of time it took for users to express milk I would have to say it appears as if you can express 4-5ozs of milk in ten minutes or less. Pretty impressive for a manual breast pump. Users also say the pump is compact and easy to take when traveling.

Avent Isis Breast Pump Negatives

Negatives for the Avent Isis Manual breast pump include “too many parts to wash” and “the pump stopped working after a few months.” However, the main reason some reviewers hate this pump and rank it poorly is that it just doesn’t work for them. Every woman’s body is different and while some products work great for some they don’t succeed for others. However, overall this manual breast pump seems to work well and is worth trying out if you are in the market for a manual breast pump.

Medela Freestyle Breast Pump User Reviews

The Medela Freestyle Hands-Free Breast Pump has received a rating of 4 out 5 stars from reviewers at diapers.com, babysrus.com, amazon.com and target.com.
Overall users are very pleased with the Medela Freestyle Breast Pump saying it is easy, quiet, lightweight and portable. You can even fit this pump in most purses and the pump allows a long life for batteries. Most women say they can pump efficiently with this pump and express a large amount of milk in a short amount of time. The average seems to be about 8oz of milk pumped in 10 minutes—almost an ounce a minute! Users also love the hands-free feature saying it is great not to have to sit stationary every time they pump. However, many do point out that getting the hang of the hands-free option can be complicated, but once you master this feature the pump is “fabulous”.

Medela Freestyle Breast Pump Negatives

There are also a few negative reviews for the Medela Freestyle breast pump. The main complaint is that the hands-free feature of the pump is too hard to figure out and in order for the pump’s suction to work right you have to assemble the pump perfectly. Users are also upset that the Freestyle Pump’s parts cannot be sterilized in micro-steam bags because the pieces of the pump will warp. A few women complained that the pump lost suction too quickly (but this happens to a few users with every brand and make of breast pump).
However, I did hear from several reviewers that the Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump is better than the Freestyle pump. Many users of the Medela Pump In Style Advanced Pump decided it would be fun to try the Freestyle breast pump due to its hands-free feature. However, most of these former Pump In Style users say they prefer the Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump and recommend that pump over the FreeStyle breast pump. This preference was repeated a lot and it is something worth thinking about if you are looking for a fast and easy to use pump for pumping several times a day.
However, women who are looking for a hands-free pump and who have the patience to master the technique of pumping without hands should consider the Medela Freestyle since it is a good, high quality pump for busy moms’ who need to keep their hands free for other tasks.

Reviewers say the Medela Swing breast pump is very gentle on the nipples, expresses milk quickly, and is just as efficient as a hospital grade breast pump. Positive reviews say “No Regrets” about purchasing the Swing and the Swing is “Worth Every Cent,” and is “Great Value For Money.”

Medela Swing Breast Pump Negatives

However, there are several reviewers who absolutely hate the Medela Swing breast pump. The number one complaint is that the suction on the pump is not great or that the suction brakes easily. One woman even wrote that it took her one hour to pump only 4oz of milk (but another woman said she could pump 4oz in 5 minutes so???). Others complain that they need to lean forward to get the milk in the bottle otherwise the milk can leak. Several reviewers simply say, “Not WorthThe Money.” It was also questioned as to whether the SoftFit Breast Shields can be used with steam sterilizers or microwave sterilizer bags. The Medela official website does not say—although their other varieties of breast shields are safe for steam sterilizing.
While there are some strong negative reviews about this pump the majority of reviews are positive, as seen by the Swing’s strong 4 out of 5 star rating.

Medela Pump In Style Breast Pump User Reviews

The Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump has received a rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars from hundreds and hundreds of reviewers at amazon.com, diapers.com, target.com and babysrus.com.
Reviews for the Pump In Style Advanced Pump are extremely positive. Almost none of the hundreds of reviewers have anything negative to say about this breast pump. Users highly recommend this pump for any woman who needs to express her milk several times a day and they say the Medela Pump In Style breast pump is easy to use, efficient, easy to wash, and easy to travel with. Reviewers love the 2 Phase Expression Technology and a few women report they can pump 10-15oz of milk in 10-20 minutes flat. Many of the reviewers were actually recommended this pump by lactation consultants since it is one of the best pumps on the market today. Users also love that they have the option to use batteries with the pump if they are traveling and one woman says Dr. Brown bottles fit on the pump if you choose not to use the Medela bottles.
The basic consensus about this pump can be summed with a few common comments written by the reviewers: “Great Pump,” “Love This Pump,” “High Quality Pump,” “Worth The Money,” “Best Investment Ever,” and my very favorite quote from all of the reviewers: the “Cadillac Of The Breast Pumps.”

Medela Pump In Style Breast Pump Negatives

Negatives for pump are minor and most of the negative comments written about the Medela In Style Advanced breast pump did't prevent the reviewers writing such the comments from still rating the pump with at least 4 out of 5 stars. (Of course there are one or two women who don’t like the pump but they are really, really in the minority with that opinion.). Some women dislike that the pump is not hands free and a few women complain that there are too many parts to clean and that the pump is too noisy. A few women also report that their motors died—those who had warranties to cover a new motor or pump didn’t mind, those without warranties were livid, and rightfully so. One woman warns new users that the clear tubing can get condensation that can lead to mold but it is very inexpensive to buy new tubing if this does happen.

Baby K’Tan Wrap User Reviews

The Baby K’Tan has received a user rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars from reviewers at amazon.com and diapers.com.
Users absolutely love the Baby K’Tan baby wrap, which they say is really more of a cross between a traditional sling and a front carrier. Parents are amazed at how versatile this wrap is, it can be used in 8 different positions, and they say the sling position is great for young babies, the front carrier position for older babies, and the hip or back position for toddlers. Users report that the stretch cotton is soft (although one user says because the material stretches it is best to buy a size smaller if you are between sizes), and the wrap is comfortable to wear. Reviewers say you don’t feel the weight of the baby when wearing this wrap/sling because the straps of the Baby K’Tan go over both shoulders, unlike traditional slings, and this helps to evenly distribute the baby’s weight.
The biggest plus for reviewers, however, is how easy the Baby K’Tan wrap is to put on. Many parents comment on how simple this wrap is to use and say they have no problem quickly putting it on when out and about around town. One user says the Baby K’Tan is “as easy as putting on a jacket.” Reviewers recommend this wrap for running errands and traveling because it is very compact so it doesn’t take up much room in the diaper bag. Users also love that Baby K’Tan is machine washable and that it is convenient to use when breastfeeding. Overall, users have posted very positive reviews for the Baby K’Tan wrap and most users say they “Love, Love, Love Baby K’Tan.”

Baby K’Tan Wrap Negatives

A few users dislike the Baby K’Tan saying they prefer traditional wraps like the Moby Wrap. A few others are concerned that you have to purchase the Baby K’Tan by body size, meaning what may fit one parent may not fit another. Therefore mom and dad may each need their own appropriately sized Baby K’Tan.

My Baby Nest Carrier Negatives

There were some negative reviews for this wrap/sling/carrier and they almost all complain about the same issue. Many feel that this material for this wrap is just too stretchy creating a bad fit and causing baby to hang down too low or to bounce a lot when the user is walking. However, a few reviewers who love this baby carrier recommend users to make sure to buy the right size carrier because if your carrier is too big it will sag and stretch too much. Be comfortable

The design of the Moby Wrap uses your entire back, as well as your shoulders, to carry the weight of your baby. Unlike other carriers, which have narrow straps or go across one shoulder, the Moby Wrap is a wide piece of fabric that is wrapped over both shoulders. It is amazingly comfortable and easy to wear. Be secure

Your baby’s head can also be secured under the stretchy cotton fabric for added safety. You can finally have both hands free and know your baby is safe and secure.

Be uniquely close to your baby

There is not a lot of extra material or bulky padding between you and your baby. Your baby can hear your heartbeat and finds comfort in the warmth of your body within the cuddly confines of the Moby Wrap.

Birth to 35 lbs.

The Moby Wrap is an optimal baby carrier for infants. Parents of newborns are often prescribed to practice “kangaroo care,” skin-to-skin contact used to increase birth weight, which can be easily achieved while wearing your Moby Wrap. The Moby Wrap is long enough to adapt to your growing baby. The fabric can hold up to 35 lbs.

Soothes fussy babies

It is amazing how quickly a baby will settle down once wrapped in the Moby Wrap. Experts like Dr. Sears, stress the importance of holding your baby often and close. The Moby Wrap allows you to do this with ease. The style of the wrap ensures your baby is uniquely close, while providing ultimate comfort and support. Versatile

There are many ways to wear your Moby Wrap. You can wear your baby upright or slightly reclined facing you, facing the world, or on your hip. Secure, developmentally appropriate holds are illustrated in the included instructional guide and online. Moby Wraps are one size which means all caregivers can easily and comfortably share the wrap.

Prewashing before use is recommended. The Moby Wrap is easy to clean. Machine wash your Moby in cold water and tumble dry low. As with all cotton items, slight shrinkage is expected during the first wash and extra length is built into the design of the Moby to accommodate this.

Moby Wrap User Reviews

The Moby Wrap has received a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars from hundreds of reviewers on amazon.com, diapers.com and toysrus.com.
Users absolutely love the Moby Wrap! They say it evenly distributes baby’s weight across the shoulder and back and doesn’t cause shoulder or back pain like many other well-known brands of carriers. Reviewers also love that there are no buckles to hassle with, or that can break, and that there are no straps that dig into the shoulders. Although the wrap can be a bit confusing at first to learn how to use, it is extremely simple to put on and take off once the technique is mastered. Users recommend watching the YouTube video instructions for how to apply the wrap.
Reviewers say this wrap is extremely comfortable to wear, is very comfortable for baby, keeps baby secure, is great for people with bad backs, and is the ideal solution for parents with colicky babies or with babies who never want to be put down. The Moby Wrap allows you to carry your baby and keep your baby close while at the same time freeing your hands for work, chores, shopping or tending to other kids. It’s also a great solution for helping put fussy babies to sleep. Just put baby in the wrap, walk around a bit till baby falls asleep, and then go about performing your usual activities. Many parents also like the versatility of this wrap since it allows users to hold the baby in a hug hold, a forward facing position or in a sling position. You can even use it as a back carrier for older babies.

Moby Wrap Negatives

A few users dislike this wrap mostly because they feel it is too hot to wear. Many describe wearing the wrap as having on an extra shirt. This makes some users in hot climates uncomfortable. A few users also feel it is just too complicated to use.
Overall this wrap has received rave reviews and the majority of users absolutely recommend a Moby Wrap.

My Two Cents

I have a very similar wrap that functions in the exact same way as the Moby Wrap and I love it. When the sales clerk initially showed me how to use the wrap I thought “no way, I will never master this.” But, I decided to try it out anyway and brought it home. I watched the YouTube video showing how to use the wrap for securing the baby in different holding positions and I practiced a few times using a stuffed animal while watching the video. After 2-3 tries I had the technique down perfectly.
If you take the time to learn how to use this wrap it really is very simple to put on and take off. I also like that I can put my daughter in the wrap and take her out of it without any outside help. My daughter loves taking walks with me while in this wrap and having her ‘wrapped’ makes shopping trips and other errands extremely easy to do. During the early months, my daughter always wanted to be on the hands and I just wouldn’t have been able to function without the wrap.
I think baby wraps are a great investment for parents with young babies. I was given an Ergo infant carrier at my baby shower which I began using when my daughter was 5 months after I felt that my daughter had ‘graduated’ from the baby wrap. While some parents have no problems carrying older babies and toddlers with the wrap I found that I was more comfortable carrying my heavy daughter with the Ergo Baby Carrier. But the wrap was the perfect solution for my daughter’s first 5 months and I would definitely recommend the purchase of one to all new parents.

Aden Anais Sleep Bags User Reviews

Those who rate the Aden Anais Sleep Bags favorably say these are great baby sleep sacks for summer thanks to the lightweight muslin material. Users also love that even if baby did manage to pull the sleep bag over his face he would not suffocate due to the breathability of the muslin material. Users also report that these sleep bags are very soft and get even softer with every wash.

Aden Anais Sleep Sack Negatives

On the negative side, several users complain that these sleep bags are not durable and are not made of the same durability and quality as the Aden Anais swaddle blankets, which many users who are dissatisfied with the sleep sacks say they love. Many users say these sleep sacks are not strong enough and that the weak fabric tears easily in the wash and when baby moves around in the sleep sack. Users say these sleep bags are too expensive for such weak fabric. However, although I did see this complaint about holes forming in the sleep sack several times, a few users who love these sleep sacks responded reporting that they have been using the Aden Anais sleep sacks for several months with no wear or tear in the fabric.
Maybe a good buy for gentle babies but not for aggressive ones who kick, spin and pull on things.

Since 2005, the American Academy of Pediatrics has suggested the use of wearable blankets to reduce the risk of SIDS. Today, HALO SleepSack wearable blankets are the #1 trusted choice of hospitals, and are used nationwide to help babies sleep safely from the start.”

Halo Sleep Sacks User Reviews

The Halo Sleep Sack has received a 4.5 out of 5 star rating from reviewers on target.com, diapers.com, babysrus.com and amazon.com.
Overall users seem to absolutely love these sleep sacks and have declared them the perfect blanket alternative for babies. Users say the cotton sleep sacks are perfect for summer and the fleece or velboa ones are great for cold winter nights. They keep baby warm, snug and safe. You can control baby’s temperature even more by deciding what baby will wear under the sleep sacks. On colder nights put baby in a long sleeve sleeper and on warmer nights put baby in the sleep sack wearing a short sleeve onsie or just a diaper. (Users do warn though that you shouldn’t put baby in a fleece sleeper and a fleece sleep sack because then baby will be too hot.) Parents say the Halo sleep sacks are great for babies who don’t want to be swaddled and baby sleeps very comfortably in these sleep sacks. The inverted zipper is easy to use, making middle of the night diaper changes simple since you do not have to take baby out of the sleep sack to change diapers.
In terms of safety, users love that they no longer have to worry about baby kicking off blankets and becoming exposed to the cold air of night and that, although baby has room to move around in the sleep sack, baby can’t pull it over his face or head like he can with baby blankets. This gives many parents much needed relief about the worries of suffocation and SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Users write that the Halo Sleep Sacks are a “great alternative to dangerous blankets” and provide them with “peace of mind” while baby is sleeping. One user even writes that “5 stars aren’t enough” when rating the Halo Sleep Sack.

Halo Sleep Sack Complaints

A few users have some complaints about the Halo Sleep Sack. One user says the fleece sleep sack piles after a few washes, a few users complain the cotton sleep sacks are too thin (but others like this for warm summer nights), and some reviewers say the arm holes are a bit too small for getting baby’s arms through when baby is wearing a heavy fleece sleep n’ play. However, the only complaint that I saw more than once or twice is that the zipper on the Halo Sleep Sacks can break. But, although I did see this complaint a few times, compared to the number of satisfied users, this still seems like an infrequent occurrence.

My Two Cents

I was given both sleep sacks and swaddle blankets at my baby shower. I tended to use the swaddle blankets more frequently than the sleep sacks just because my daughter often woke herself up flailing her arms about. Swaddle blankets contain the arms where sleeps sacks do not. However, when my daughter got older and no longer wanted to be swaddled I switched to the sleep sacks and they have been great. No complaints. I also love using them as stroller blankets when taking a walk on a cold winter’s day. My daughter always kicks her regular stroller blanket off herself causing the blanket to fall to the ground and the stroller to run over it. This makes the blanket dirty and leaves my daughter exposed to the cold weather. Now I just bundle her up in a sleep sack and a jacket and she is all set for a stroll.

Users say these sleep sacks are perfect for cold winter nights or summer nights when the air conditioning is running. Users are very impressed with how nice the material for these nap saks is and many report that the Sozo Nap Saks are beautifully made. Users also like that they don’t have to worry about baby pulling a blanket over the head when sleeping in these nap saks and are pleased with how roomy the nap sacks are, which will allow for long use as baby grows. Many also say the zipper on the side is very convenient for diaper changes.
I only found one negative comment about the Sozo Nap Saks where a user says the side zipper can get stuck, but the user who wrote this still rated the Nap Saks highly saying she loves this product.
Sozo Nap Saks are a bit more expensive than other sleep saks like the Halo Sleep Sack orAden Anais sleep bags, but if you can afford the price tag they seem like a great buy and are a purchase well worth the money.

This Fisher Price Piano Baby Gym is a real winner and reading reviews for this baby gym is almost boring as reviewer after review writes the same thing, “I don’t usually write reviews but this play mat is so good…,” “love this gym,” “best play gym” and “baby loves it!”

Babies love to lie on the play mat and look at themselves in the mirror and many reviewers say their baby can happily lie on the mat for 30 minutes to 1 hour and just look in the mirror and talk to himself. Some users think the toys hang a bit low and one user hates that he has to remove the bar and then reattach it to lower it for tummy time.

My Two Cents

My brother recently purchased the Kick and Play Piano baby gym for his 8 week old son. I can’t believe how happy my nephew is playing in this gym. His little legs kick the piano keys for a half an hour or longer and he loves having something to do with his very active feet. He also stares at himself in the mirror for long stretches of time and he just laughs and coos and has a great time. I have never seen a baby toy entertain a young infant for such a long period of time. I was utterly amazed.
For this reason alone the Fisher Price Kick and Play Piano Baby Gym is definitely worth a buy!

The Senses

The Gymini Super Deluxe Lights and the Music offers a truly multi-sensory play experience. It stimulates sight with the flashing lights and also colorful images. Touch is also stimulated by the different fabrics, textures and the shapes. Baby’s hearing is stimulated with the four musical selections.

Gross Motor Skills

When in the prone position, the Gymini Super Deluxe encourages baby to lift his neck and shoulders while gazing at his reflection in the mirror. The hanging toys invite the baby to reach for them, and the baby may find to himself rolling over to get to them. Reaching for the toys with his arms and legs helps strengthen these important muscles. From the sixth month, baby is drawn to the Lights & Music Touch Pad, and strikes it to elicit flashing lights or music. This helps improve his ability to support his weight with one hand.

Fine Motor Skills

The hanging toys invite baby to reach out and strike or grasp, first by chance and later quite intentionally as control over his arm and hand improves. This helps develop hand-eye coordination.
The interesting and diverse structure of the toys helps him practice different grasping methods, as well as opening and closing his hand, pulling, and later, coordination between the two hands.

Cognition

The Gymini Super Deluxe offers a multitude of opportunities to experience cause & effect, such as batting at the hanging toys and making them swing, or striking the panel and causing the lights to flash and the music to play.

Object Permanence

From the fifth month, baby becomes intrigued with the concept of object permanence. He lifts the elephant’s ears to reveal an animal hiding underneath, enjoying a fun peek-a-boo game.

Baby’s ability to calm himself, during the first months of life, depends on external factors. The Gymini® Super Deluxe’s special structure, with the crossed arches, reminds the baby of the closed, protective, round environment of the womb, and this has a calming effect.
The relaxing of classical music selections also fill this warm space with calming, auditory delights. And the mirror helps baby form a self-image, as he studies his reflection.

Language and Communication

The classical music selections contribute to baby’s language development. Both are made up of a sequence of sounds that together compose “musical sentences.”
Both verbal and musical sentences are received by the brain as a sequence of sounds, and baby learns to process and organize these sequences into a meaningful form.
When baby looks in the mirror he laughs as the baby in the reflection laughs back. He “talks” to his reflection, initiating an enjoyable “dialogue.” This helps to develop his language and communications skills.

Tiny Love Gymini Super Deluxe Lights And Music Play Mat User Reviews

The Tiny Love Gymini Super Deluxe play mat has received a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars from over 1000 reviewers at amazon.com, toysrus.com, target.com and diapers.com.
Users love the Tiny Love Gymini Super Deluxe baby play mat calling it a “must have” for baby and declaring it worth every penny. Reviewers say this is a great toy that grows with baby and every month baby discovers something new and finds a new way to enjoy the Tiny Love play mat. This is a fantastic play mat for young babies who play on their backs and it is a great place to begin introducing tummy time to your baby. Several reviewers report starting their baby on this play mat as young as one week old and their babies continued to enjoy this mat almost up to their first birthday. Parents say the Tiny Love play mat encourages babies to reach for the toys and babies love kicking the arches because it makes the animal toys dance.
Many parents also have great fun watching baby discovering himself in the play mat’s mirror. Almost all of the reviewers say baby is able to play on this mat for long periods of time (20-30 minutes for young babies—1-2 hours for older babies—some parents say their baby can stay there all day!). Users also love that you can add toys to this play mat, or remove the toys to attach to the stroller or car seat and they are thrilled about how easy this play mat is to wash. Another great feature of the Tiny Love Gymini Super Deluxe lights and music play mat is that it easily folds up making it simple to store or to take along on trips.
All in all, the perfect baby play gym!
A few users are unhappy with this play mat with the main complaints revolving around the baby gym’s music. Some reviewers find the music very annoying and several users complain that the sound quality is not very good. Others would like Tiny Love to add a volume adjustment feature to the mat. A couple of users also say that their lights stopped working after only a few weeks of use.
Also check out reviews for the Baby Einstein Ocean Adventure Gym and the Fisher Price Rain Forest Gym.

My Two Cents

I began using this play mat with my daughter when she was only two weeks old and I have to agree with the reviewers who think this play mat is a “must have” for parents. The Tiny Love play mat kept my daughter entertained even at this very young age and really helped her to quickly develop motor skills, visual tracking, and hand-eye coordination. I couldn’t believe how quickly she began reaching for the animal toys.
I also agree with reviewers who write that their baby discovers something new each month on this play mat. My daughter was constantly finding a new way to play with her play mat. Early on she just watched the hanging toys and eventually she began to reach for the toys. Then she tried to roll over to reach the animal toys we hung on the side. Then she discovered the elephant which has an extendable strap that stretches when pulled and then slowly bounces back into play. This helped her develop her reflex to let go. Then on her tummy she discovered the flashing lights and constantly tried to grab the lights in the flowers as they bounced around. And, I’ll never forget the look on her face when she discovered her image in the mirror. As she began to sit up and crawl she learned how to turn the music on and off by herself and even in a sitting position she stilled love grabbing for the animals.
I love how easy this mat is to fold up and travel with and I took it with me on every overnight outing we went on. When it gets dirty you can just throw it in the wash. Overall, this is a great baby play mat and I highly recommend it!
Caution: Be careful when you take the arches out of the plastic carry bag that comes with the play mat. The arches will spring straight and if you pull them out without using caution, they can hit you in the face like a boomerang.

Aden Anais Swaddle Blanket User Reviews

Aden Anais swaddle blankets have received 5 out of 5 stars from reviewers on diapers.com, toysrus.com and amazon.com.
Users absolutely love this swaddle blanket, which they say is really easy to machine wash and dry (although users recommend not to dry it for too long on a high temperature or it will shrink). The Aden Anais SwaddlePlus blanket holds up well after many washes, the muslin fabric is very soft, and the fabric is very lightweight and breathable. Reviewers report that the Aden Anais SwaddlePlus wraps are great for swaddling and stay put well when wrapped around baby.
This swaddle blanket also serves as a good nursing cover and because of its breathability neither mom nor baby will get overheated. Aden Anais swaddles are also perfect as a floor cover for baby to play on, and is the best stroller cover you can use since it helps protect baby from the sun while still letting in lots of air. This is a great product to use in the summer or in hot climates. Users say this is one of them most versatile products you can buy for use with your baby and it is worth every penny.
One user thinks the Aden Anais swaddle blankets are too thin but most users love this fact since it makes the blankets breathable. Except for this single complaint there are no negative reviews for the Aden Anais Swaddle Blanket.
A must have product.

My Two Cents A friend of mine gave me the Aden Anais Swaddle Blankets as a baby arrival gift. I love them. I have used them as lightweight blankets on hot summer nights, as sun shields over my stroller on hot, sunny days (they still allow great air flow into the stroller), and I have used them as soft play blankets on the grass–I just pull the swaddle blanket off the stroller where it was working as a sun canopy and throw it on the ground so that baby can lie around and get some tummy time. In fact, I have used these swaddle blankets for everything but swaddling. But, I am sure they would be good for that too. As my daughter has gotten older the pink stripped Aden Anais Swaddle Blanket has become her security blanket she always holds it while drinking a bottle and when she goes to sleep. During these cuddly times you will always find the blanket wrapped up in her little hands. The blankets have held up beautifully in the washing machine and dryer, despite how thin the material is, and they really do seem to get softer and softer with each wash. These swaddle blankets are a great investment for your own baby or will make a wonderful baby shower gift for any mom-to-be.

Summer Infant SwaddleMe Swaddle Blanket User Reviews

The Summer Infant SwaddleMe swaddle blanket/adjustable wrap has received a rating of 4 out of 5 stars from users on diapers.com, toysrus.com and amazon.com.
Users say the Summer Infant SwaddleMe swaddle blanket is a miracle blanket and it helps baby sleep through the night. Many parents report that their babies were unable to sleep until they tried this swaddle blanket and it is great for keeping babies who move around a lot still and in one place. Users also like that it is not easy for baby to wriggle out of this swaddle blanket and that they don’t have to worry about baby pulling the blanket over the face while sleeping since baby’s arms are immobile.
There are almost no negative reviews for this swaddle blanket. A few users do warn, however, that the micro-fleece swaddle blankets can be a bit too warm and cause baby to be sweaty.

My Two Cents

I don’t think I would have survived my daughter’s infancy without these swaddle blankets. My daughter constantly flailed her arms about in her sleep which would then startle and wake her. It became impossible for her to sleep for more than twenty minutes at a time, which of course was not enough rest for her or me and we both became quite cranky. When she was about three weeks old I began using the Summer Infant SwaddleMe Adjustable Wraps. My daughter began sleeping for eight hours straight during the night—sometimes awakening for a quick feed but falling right back to sleep in her swaddle blanket. I couldn’t believe it. I would just wrap her in the swaddle when I knew it was time for her to go to sleep at night or have a nap during the day and then feed her while she was wrapped up in the swaddle. A few times I would test to see what would happen if I tried to put her to sleep without the swaddle and she would always wake up within twenty minutes. She just couldn’t sleep well without being swaddled. I only was able to finally get her to sleep soundly without swaddling her when she was a bit over five months old and began to sleep on her stomach.
Using the Summer Infant swaddle blankets are extremely easy. You just put baby in the leg pocket, fold one side over the right arm, then fold the other side over left arm—attaching these sides to Velcro panels built into the blanket—and baby is swaddled. It is very simple. I recommend every new parent to have at least 2 or 3 of these swaddle blankets (baby spits up a lot at this young age and things end up in laundry very quickly) to help your new baby fall asleep peacefully.

Haba Walker Wagon Description

The award winning Haba Walker Wagon aids children in moving and walking and includes a seat to push their favorite plush toy or doll and a convenient back pocket for toy storage. The strength of the walker’s brakes can be adapted to suit each user, which is a great safety feature for newly mobile infants. Just tighten the wheels to slow down the walker to suit the walking speed of your baby. The Haba Walker Wagon is made of solid wood and is assembled with sturdy construction. The wheel treads are made of silicone, which help to control the speed of the walker and to make this walker safe for all surfaces, including wood floors.

Measures: 13″ x 20″ x 19.5″

Recommended Ages: 10 months & up

Weight: 12.6 pounds

Produced: Made in Germany

Materials: Made from solid wood

Haba Walker Wagon User Reviews

The Haba Walker Wagon has received a rating of 5 out of 5 stars from users at diapers.com and amazon.com. Users only have high praise for this walker wagon.

“Love The Haba Wagon!!!” This statement pretty much sums up all of the user reviews for this product. Users are extremely impressed with the Haba baby walker wagon and can’t believe what a good investment this baby walker is. “Well worth the money” is the consensus among all of the online reviewers.

The Haba Walker Wagon is extremely sturdy (unlike most of its less expensive plastic walker rivals) and all of the reviewers say they have never had a problem with this walker tipping over on their baby, even when baby (or toddler) uses it as a support to stand up. This walker is extremely well balanced and is beautifully crafted from solid wood. Parents can adjust the wheel resistance for this walker making it easier or harder for baby to push. Thanks to the silicone wheels, this walker is great for using on any surface (carpet, hardwood floors, pavement) and does not loose traction on hardwood like plastic walkers do. The silcone also protects hardwood floors from receiving any dents and scratches. A toy safe for babies and for homes.

The Haba baby walker is a great toy for when baby is learning to walk and baby will still enjoy pushing this wagon well after he has mastered walking. One user writes that she bought this product for her baby when he was learning to walk at 9 months and now at 4 years old her son still loves this toy and pushes it around pretending it is a shopping cart, a lawn mower, etc… depending on what game he is playing. Babies and toddlers love pushing their toys and stuffed animals around with this wagon and they also enjoy sitting in the wooden seat. When they are tired they will sit and have mom or dad push them around. Using the Haba Walker Wagon is a fun way for baby to move and explore his surroundings and this is a quality walker that is well worth the purchase!

One user (who still rated this walker with a full 5 stars) says this walker is a bit heavy (because it is made of solid wood which helps to make it so sturdy and stable). However, I don’t think this reviewer was really criticizing the walker/wagon because he did say that if it were light it would tip over onto baby like the plastic walkers do, so in fact this reviewer is pleased about the weight of the Haba Walker Wagon.

In summary this is a high quality walker/wagon that will give your child years of fun play. Highly recommended and well worth the money!

Also check out other great sit to stand baby walkers like the VTech Walker or the Original Toy Company Walker.

My Two Cents

I purchased the Haba Walker Wagon for my daughter when she was 9 months old and was just beginning to take her first steps while holding onto furniture. You could see how much she wanted to become mobile as she grabbed any light piece of furniture she could, usually a chair, and began pushing it across the room using it as a makeshift walker. I knew I had to get her a baby walker to help her gain her independence but I was worried about many of the reviews I had read regarding the safety of the inexpensive plastic baby walkers when used on hardwood floors (which we have). So, I decided to give the Haba Walker Wagon a try.

I have to say this is one of the best baby purchases I have ever made. Great toy! My daughter loves this baby walker. She goes all around the house with it and on nice days we even take her outside for long walks with her walker wagon. We started with the wheels quite tight to help keep the walker stable and my daughter has never had any accidents with this baby walker. She walks forward with it, then she bends down and pushes it backward. She takes her favorite teddy bear and places him in the seat and pushes him around the room. Sometimes she even climbs on the seat and stands up–but have no fear because the walker is stable enough to support this. It will not tip over.

During the first month of use my daughter would just walk until she crashed into something, and then would keep pushing frustrated that she could no longer move forward. However, by 10 months in age she figured out that objects blocking her path meant she would have to stop and she began coming to halt a few inches away from whatever she was about to crash into. She would then go around to the front of the wagon and push it backwards until she was far enough back to begin the journey forward again.

Overall, a great walker. I highly recommend this baby toy. It is safe for your baby, it is fun for your baby, and it really helps your baby develop the skills needed to begin walking on his own. And, as advertised, it is safe for the home–no damage to our wooden floors and no marks on the many walls and furniture my daughter has crashed into using her Haba Walker Wagon.

Update: My daughter just turned two and she still plays with her walker wagon–14 months of use so far and still counting!

The Original Toy Company Baby Walker User Reviews

The Original Toy Company Baby Walker has received 5 out of 5 stars from a handful of reviewers at amazon.com.

Users are very impressed at how sturdy this baby walker is and say it won’t tip over, even if baby uses it stand up or leans all of his weight on it. This makes it a great, and safe, alternative to the unbalanced plastic baby walkers that can cause baby to fall over. This walker really helps babies to learn to walk and babies love pushing this cart all over the house. The rubber wheels are great for providing just the right amount of traction and this walker is safe to use on carpets, hardwood floors and tiles. Babies love putting all their toys in the wagon and older babies and toddlers play pretend with this walker and use this walker as a shopping cart and an array of other things. Users feel that this is a great baby walker, is made from high quality materials and solid construction and is well worth the price. Highly recommended!

VTech Sit To Stand Walker User Reviews

The VTech Sit To Stand baby walker seems to be one of the most popular of the inexpensive plastic baby walker models and has received a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars from users at amazon.com, target.com and diapers.com.

Users love the sturdiness of this walker saying it is not easy to tip over and, especially compared to the other lightweight plastic walkers on the market, this walker is properly balanced and safe for your little one to learn to walk with. Reviewers say their babies love to use this for independent walking and babies who are not yet ready for their first steps enjoy holding onto this walker when standing or have fun sitting in front of the walker to play with the toy panel. The toy panel even detaches and can be used for playtime on the floor, in the crib or on the road. Babies love the music that plays every time the walker moves and they also enjoy the flashing lights. “One of the best toys ever,” and “perfect to practice walking.”

VTech Sit To Stand Walker Negatives

On the negative side, some users are concerned with how fast this walker moves across wooden floors because of the plastic wheels that have no traction on such a smooth surface. They say the walker is great on carpets but is just too quick on wooden floors and this causes their baby too loose control and fall. (This is a problem with every plastic baby walker because of the plastic wheels. If you are looking for a walker to use on hard-wood floors consider purchasing a wooden sit to stand walker with rubber or silicone wheels that provide traction). A few users also complain that the music is too loud (although it does have a volume control) and that although baby loves playing with the phone, the phone frequently falls off the toy panel, which can be annoying.

Overall though, great reviews and if you are in the market for a sit to stand plastic baby walker this is one of the best.

BabyKicks Organic Fitted Diaper User Reviews

The BabyKicks Organic Fitted Diaper has received a user rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars from users at amazon.com and diapers.com.

Absorbent, absorbent, absorbent! This is the number one word reviewers use to describe the new BabyKicks Organic Fitted Diaper one size fits all pocket diaper. The hemp insert can hold it all, including the big messes, and even those users who didn’t fall in love with this cloth diaper say that owning the hemp insert alone is worth the purchase of this diaper. Users even say they can use this diaper for overnight without having to worry about dealing with a wet bed in the morning.

The BabyKicks Organic Fitted Diaper washes well and stains easily come out of the organic and incredibly soft lining after just one wash and users love that it is this super soft and natural fabric that touches their baby’s bottom and almost every user agrees that they love the soft leg gussets which prevent their baby from getting nasty red marks on the legs. The outer shell of this diaper is naturally waterproof, so there is no need to buy a separate cover for this diaper.

The BabyKicks Organic Fitted Diaper is one of the trimmest cloth diapers you can find thanks to the side snaps that allow you to get the perfect fit for your baby and this diaper never leaves marks or scratches on your baby’s skin. Users love the construction of this cloth diaper and agree that this is a high quality diaper that is made well, fits well, and absorbs well.

BabyKicks Organic Fitted Diaper Negatives

Some users complain that this cloth diaper takes too long to dry but many other users say they don’t mind this fact because this is also part of what makes the super absorbent hemp insert hold urine so well. There are also some users who think this diaper dries quickly—so all in all there is a mixed verdict on this topic.

However, most users do agree that while the hemp insert is fantastic, it is a bit difficult to stuff it into the diaper. The pocket opening is just too narrow and it makes it a bit of a challenge to get the insert in without it bunching. Users recommend doing this before diapering your baby so that you don’t have the added pressure of your diaperless baby waiting on the changing table.

Some users also say the diaper does not fit will around the legs unless your baby has chubby thighs and you need to watch for leaks from this area because of this issue. Other users feel this diaper is not good for newborns for the same reason. Several users also complain that the soft inner lining of the diaper piles and becomes rough after several washes.

BabyKicks Organic Fitted Diaper Summary

Most users have really loved their experience using the BabyKicks Organic Fitted Diaper and are glad they decided to give this new pocket diaper a try. Many users think this diaper is better than any other cloth diaper they have previously used and definitely plan on buying more of this super absorbent diaper. However, some users say they still prefer other pocket diapers over this one and plan on returning to these brands for their cloth diapering needs.

But, remember, diaper needs for each baby and each family vary greatly and what works well for one family may not be the best option for other families. Most reviewers rate this diaper highly and almost no reviewers had any major complaints or found any major defaults with this cloth diaper. Like with any diaper, I say buy one, try it and if it works well for you then buy more. The BabyKicks Organic Fitted Diaper is definitely worth a try!

About Bamboozle Bamboo Diaper

The Bamboozle Bamboo cloth diaper is a super soft and fitted cloth diaper that is very absorbent! This fitted cloth diaper consists of four layers of soft, silky bamboo fabric that is extremely gentle against your baby’s sensitive skin.

Bamboo is an eco-friendly fibre because it is a renewable resource with a very short growth cycle and it is grown without fertilizers or pesticides. This makes bamboo a great environmental choice for cloth diapers!

“The Bamboozle’s fabric is also super absorbent. Its crisscross texture creates microscopic openings in the fibre which guarantee truly exceptional moisture absorption. In short, the Bamboozle absorbs quickly and effectively, is comfortable for baby and not bulky under clothes!”

The Bamboozle is made by Tots Bots in Scotland. Their products are top rated in the UK, and the Bamboozle is their most popular cloth diaper! Bummis is excited to be distributing the Bamboozle in the United States and Canada.

Tots Bots products are Oeko-Tex certified – which means they have passed stringent European standards for non-toxicity. The Bamboozle is made from 90% rayon from bamboo, 10% polyester

Diaper Sizes:

Size 1—5lbs-18lbs

Size 2—10lbs—35lbs

Bamboozle Bamboo Diaper User Reviews

There aren’t too many user reviews for this diaper but calculated from those that exist I would say this diaper has so far received a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.

Users say the Bamboozle bamboo cloth diaper is super soft (some want to find adult underwear made from the same material—that is how soft this diaper is!), very absorbent, easy to use, and easy clean. Parents like the many different sizing options that the snaps provide and most say the diaper holds up really well after many laundries. Reviewers are also impressed at the diaper’s absorbency and say the diaper doesn’t leak, even after several pees. Some parents even use the diaper for their baby’s long night sleep and have reported that it makes it through the night without leaking. You can use disposable liners with this diaper for containing messy poops but the diaper is easy to clean either way. Many users also say this is one of the least bulky cloth diapers they have ever used. You should use a Bummis diaper cover for added leak protection.

Bamboozle Cloth Diaper Negatives

Some users do not like that the Bamboozle bamboo cloth diaper and say the snaps can fall off (although the company will replace the diaper for free if this happens), the diaper takes too long to air dry (because of its super absorbency), it can leak from the legs if it is not a good fit—true of any diaper if you do not have a good fit), and it is only 90% bamboo and is 10% polyester, which is not a natural material.

Note: You need to buy diaper covers with this diaper for added protection against leaks and the diaper only becomes absorbent after two washes and only reaches full absorbency after 10 washes. So wash this diaper before using.

Bumkins All-In-One Reusable Diaper User Reviews

At the time of writing, there are very few reviews for this diaper. From the existing reviews I would calculate that the Bumkins cloth diaper has received a rating of 3-3.5 out of 5 stars—but some users give this cloth diaper 5 stars (they love the diaper) and some users give the diaper 1 star (they hate the diaper). The few one star ratings dragged the diaper down from the majority 4 star rating to the calculated average 3-3.5 star rating.

Users who rate this diaper favorably say it washes well, fits well, doesn’t leak, is very cute, prevents diaper rash and is very soft against the skin. The Bumkins all in one cloth diaper is made from nice, flannel fabric, is absorbent, and is a good quality diaper. Reviewers especially love that this diaper works just like a disposable diaper making it extremely easy to take on and off—even babysitters and daycare workers can change this cloth diaper without complaint.

Those who do not like the Bumkins all-in-one cloth diaper say the diaper is too bulky, it runs too big, it is not absorbent enough, and it definitely can’t be used at nighttime.

Sizes: Small (7-18lbs), Medium (15-30lbs), Large (24-45lbs) or One Size for all adjustable diaper

Fuzzi Bunz Cloth Diaper User Reviews

Fuzzi Bunz has received a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars from reviewers on diapers.com and amazon.com.

Many users have declared Fuzzi Bunz the “best cloth diaper,” saying the diaper is extremely soft, highly absorbent, comfortable, well-designed, easy to use, easy to clean, and fits well. Parents say the diaper feels luxurious next to the skin, never causes diaper rash and clears up any rash baby may have developed from wearing disposable diapers, and baby always feels dry even if the diaper is not, thanks to the super absorbent fleece lining. Reviewers are also very impressed with how absorbent these cloth diapers are and several users report that they use Fuzzi Bunz as a night diaper for babies who sleep twelve hours straight, never have any problems with leaks and during the morning change baby doesn’t feel like he’s been sitting in a wet diaper all night.

Parents also love the snaps used for closing this diaper and prefer it over the velcro used in other brands because the velcro can be itchy on the skin. Other users also say these diapers are very easy to clean, poo sprays off easy and the diaper can be used with flushable liners from other brands. Some users say the Fuzzi Bunz cloth diapers are less bulky than other brands of cloth diapers and after multiple times in the laundry they still look like new.

Fuzzi Bunz Cloth Diapers Negatives

Those who dislike this diaper complain that the diaper is too bulky, the snaps don’t create as good a fit as velcro does, and the snaps can be annoying to deal with at night when it is dark or for those not competent with diapers (like grandpa). Also, the one size diaper can leak from the leg if baby has skinny thighs.

Fuzzi Bunz Cloth Diaper User Advice

Users recommend line-drying the diaper to protect the snaps from warping, but you can dry the inserts in the dryer. It only takes overnight or a few hours in the sun to dry the diapers. To help prevent your diaper bucket or pail from smelling, add a cap of vinegar and some detergent to the bucket water—this helps the presoak and deals with bad odor. Many reviewers recommend that you make sure you put the diaper insert in correctly—otherwise the diaper can leak. Also make sure the insert is not poking out of the back of the diaper. If it is and it becomes wet, the moisture will spread to your baby’s clothing.

Fuzzi Bunz Cloth Diaper Review Summary

Overall users love the Fuzzi Bunz cloth diaper and recommend this cloth diaper to other parents looking for an alternative to disposable diapers. Many of the reviewers say they own Fuzzi Bunz as well as other brands of cloth diapers but prefer this cloth diaper over the others. Definitely a cloth diaper worth trying.

Almost everyone who has written a review about gDiapers absolutely loves these cloth diapers. Users also say their baby never develops diaper rash in these diapers and parents with babies who developed diaper rash in other diapers note that the rash cleared up as soon as they switched to gDiapers.

Parents believe these cloth diapers are a good investment, are good for the planet, and eliminate any guilt you may feel throwing away disposable diapers. To sum up by quoting from reviewers: “Best Diaper,” and “We Love These Diapers.”

gDiaper Negatives

There are very few unfavorable reviews about gDiapers. One parent writes that the snaps for the internal insert left sores on her baby’s hip from rubbing against her baby’s skin (but this was from only one reviewer) and a few parents say the diaper leaks. However, most users report that the diaper does not leak.

gDiaper Cloth Diaper User Advice

A few parents who love gDiapers did offer some advice to help make using this diaper a bit easier for first time users. First, many users recommend that new users ensure they buy the right size diaper for their baby because not having the right size can cause leaks. Second, one mother suggests closing the Velcro on the diapers before washing so that they do not stick to other clothing in the washing machine. Lastly, users say over time the snap-in diaper insert will get stained and eventually lose its elasticity. However, you can easily purchase new inserts for the diapers when the time comes.

gDiaper Summary

Overall these diapers have received great reviews and as one reviewer says, “these diapers are more work than disposables but less work than regular cloth diaper,” thanks to the flushable inserts. If you are considering diapering your baby in non-disposable cloth diapers than gDiapers are definitely an option worth trying out.

Most users are very pleased with the Kushies cloth diaper saying it is a great, affordable all-in-one cloth diaper that is much less expensive than other cloth diaper brands without cutting back on the quality and absorbency provided by other all-in-one diapers. Reviewers report that the Kushies cloth diaper contains messes and blowouts well and does not leak. Kushies Cloth Diaper Negatives

Some users are not fond of the Kushies Ultra All-In-One Infant cloth diaper. The main complaint about the diaper is that it runs big. Many reviewers say you cannot start a 10-12 lb baby (the recommended starting weight) in this diaper because the diaper will come up to the chest and will leak from the legs. Wait to use this diaper with an older baby. Some users also complain that the diaper is too bulky and others say the diaper leaks, takes way too long to dry-making it impractical for daily use, and is not durable enough for long term use. Many of these users suggest using Kushies cloth diapers as back up diapers for when your other brands of cloth diapers are dirty.

Huggies Little Snugglers Diapers User Reviews

The Huggies Little Snugglers diapers have received a rating of 4 out 5 stars from reviewers on amazon.com.

Users are pleased with the Huggies Little Snugglers diaper saying the diaper prevents leaks, is super absorbent, doesn’t sag when full, holds poop in well preventing blowouts (the new back waist pocket helps to contain blowouts), doesn’t cause diaper rash, and is comfortable for baby. Users also recommend that parents ensure that they buy the right size diaper for their baby to ensure a snug fit. Reviewers “Love This Diaper,” and some have called Little Snugglers “the Best Diaper Ever.”

Huggies Little Snugglers Diaper Negatives

Negative reviews for the diaper complain that the diaper leaks, doesn’t fit well, and is scratchy. Many of these users prefer Pampers Swaddlers diapers for their babies. One reviewer tried to counter the negative reviewers’ claims of leaky diapers saying the diaper only leaks when it reaches the maximum capacity for liquid so if you change your baby’s diaper at regular intervals as directed, the diaper won’t leak.

Complaints about the newborn size Little Snugglers say Pampers Swaddlers fits better and are softer, yet other reviewers claimed Huggies is the best diaper ever and fits great.

My Two Cents

Although these diapers have an overall good review try every diaper for yourself. I stress this on every diaper review page whether the average review for the diaper is positive or negative. Diaper preference is extremely personal and what one baby and parent loves, another baby and parent may hate. Test a diaper out for yourself and find out what works best for you and your baby.

Huggies Supreme Little Movers User Reviews

Huggies Little Movers diapers have received a rating of 4.5 out 5 stars from reviewers on toysrus.com, diapers.com and amazon.com.

Those who love this diaper say it never leaks, doesn’t sag when full, the little back pocket helps to prevent blowouts, the diaper doesn’t cause diaper rash, it is ultra absorbent, and the diaper is fragrance free. One woman said she has tested every diaper out there and that these diapers are the winners, no question. Reviews can best be summed up by quoting many of the users with “Best Diapers.”

Those who dislike the Huggies Little Movers diaper say the diaper leaks, and provides a poor fit. Many of these users say they prefer Pampers diapers which they say are more absorbent and softer than Huggies.

My Two Cents

I have used the Huggies Supreme Little Movers diapers many times and I have no complaints. They are very absorbent, can last a long time between changes, and are easy to put on–nice stretchy tabs. Huggies Little Movers are great diapers that are worth giving a try. They haven’t failed me yet!

However, as noted in all our diaper reviews, every parent and baby responds to each diaper variety and brand differently. Test out each diaper for yourself to discover which diaper is best for you and your baby.

Huggies Jean Diaper User Reviews

Reviews for the Huggies Supreme Little Movers diaper in Jean are mixed. Many users love the Jean print saying the diaper is super cute and is a great diaper for summer when baby goes about without clothes. Others say the Jean diaper is just as absorbent as the regular Little Movers and it’s too bad they are only limited edition.

The biggest complaint for the Jean print diaper is that the blue ink bleeds from the diaper coming off on user’s hands, and on baby’s skin. A few users also note that the diaper is not as good as the regular Little Movers diaper and several users complain that although the diaper costs the same as the regular Little Movers, there are fewer diapers in the package. Maybe a purchase worth skipping?

Doesn’t leak and is super absorbent

Cons Summary:

Leaks if doesn’t fit right (like any diaper) and if it is already saturated (like any diaper)
Not very soft, a bit stiff

Huggies Snug And Dry User Reviews

The Huggies Snug and Dry diapers have received a rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars from reviewers on amazon.com, walmart.com, diapers.com and toysrus.com.

Overall, users are very pleased with the Huggies Snug and Dry diaper saying they “Love Huggies” and “Great Diaper.” One woman says she performed a diaper pee test and after testing and comparing all the diapers on the market, the Huggies Snug and Dry diapers won. Reviewers report that this diaper does not leak, is super absorbent (to the point where parents may neglect to change their baby’s diaper often enough since messes are contained so well), is flexible, not bulky, and is very durable. One user also said the diaper is great for active crawlers since it doesn’t “gap, sag, or tear easily.”

Huggies Snug and Dry Diaper Negatives

Huggies Snug and Dry diapers have also received a few negative reviews. The most common complaint is about leaks. However, positive reviewers say the diaper doesn’t leak. (No brand of diaper works the same for every baby—you need to test diapers out for yourself). Another main complaint heard from several reviewers is that the diaper is not soft, is a bit stiff and doesn’t seem to be comfortable. These users say they greatly prefer Pampers Swaddlers diapers due to that diapers softness.

My Two Cents

I decided to try the Huggies Snug and Dry diapers and have recently found myself using them quite regularly. I think they work great and must disagree with users who feel these diapers are not soft or are too stiff. I think they have a great amount of flexibility and feel soft enough for a disposable diaper—but of course are they are not as soft as the Huggies Pure and Natural disposable diapers, Pampers Swaddlers diapers or a cloth diaper. As for leaks: I have had a few instances where the diaper has leaked, but as with most brands of diapers that has leaked on me, it was my fault. I neglected to change the diaper often enough (I am talking about over 5 hours without changing the diaper on a pre-tot), the diaper then became saturated with urine, and then my daughter had a bowl movement. The diaper was already too full and was unable to contain another pee or the bowel movement. In general, the diaper has worked very well, and as long as I change my daughter’s diaper on a regular schedule, these diapers work great.—and this is true with all diapers. If you don’t change a diaper and it becomes saturated, it will leak!

I would recommend Huggies Snug and Dry and will definitely buy these diapers again.

No diaper works the same for each baby. Purchase a few of each brand of diaper and try them out. See which diaper works best for your baby. This is the only real way to know which diaper is best for you and your baby.

Huggies Pure and Natural Diaper User Reviews

Huggies Pure and Natural diapers have received a rating of 4.3 out of 5 stars from users at amazon.com, toyrus.com, diapers.com and walmart.com.

Users are very pleased with the new eco-friendly diaper from Huggies and one user has described it as a great diaper for those who feel “stuck between using a natural earth friendly diaper and a disposable.” Reviewers say the diaper fits well (as long as you buy the right diaper size for your baby), doesn’t leak, is super absorbent, is high quality, comes with strong Velcro straps, and is great for babies with sensitive skin or with allergies. Users also report that this diaper is extremely soft and one reviewer says the diaper is so soft it is “like putting a cotton ball on my baby.” There are many “Great Diapers,” and “Love This Diaper.”

Huggies Pure And Natural Diaper Negatives

There aren’t too many negative reviews for the Huggies Pure and Natural diaper. Some reviewers complain that the diaper leaks (but others say it never leaks so??) and others are disappointed that the diaper is not as eco-friendly as Seventh Generation diapers and that the diaper is not chlorine free. One woman, who still gave the diaper a very good review and rating, said she called Kimberly-Clarke (the manufacturers of Huggies diapers) to find out more about the materials used in the Huggies Pure and Natural diaper. She says the organic cotton is used only in the outer shell of the diaper and does not actually touch your baby’s skin. However, the inner liner is made from corn-based plastics and does not contain perfume. But, it still contains many of the ingredients found in other Huggies (and other disposable) diapers such as polyethylene, polyester blend, virgin wood fibers and polyacrylate (which is what makes a diaper absorbent).

In summary, while the Huggies Pure and Natural is not as pure and natural as a cloth diaper or as Seventh Generation disposable diapers, it is a vast improvement over other disposable diapers on the market today. Give this diaper a try if you are feeling guilty about diapering your baby with disposable diapers but don’t want to switch to cloth diapers.

My Two Cents

I love the Huggies Pure and Natural diaper. I think the fit is great, it never leaks for me, and it is very absorbent. The diaper feels really soft and is super easy to put on. The Velcro tabs really are stretchy and strong. This diaper may not be as eco-friendly as some of the other varieties on the market, but it is less toxic than other disposable diapers and can be a great option for parents looking for a safer diaper for their baby. The Huggies Pure and Natural diaper is also a great choice for any parent just looking for an absorbent and soft disposable diaper for everyday use. Worth a buy!

5. Huggies Little Swimmer Diapers

Huggies Little Swimmers disposable swimpants help protect against accidents in the pool, yet they won’t swell up like a regular diaper when wet.
Note: Before buying please check it's sizes.

Huggies Little Swimmer Diapers

Sizes:

Size 1—8-14lbs
Size 2—12-18lbs
Size 3—16—28lbs
Size 4—22-37lbs
Size 5—26+lbs

Pros Summary:

Help to contain a bowel movement while swimming
Diapers do not get bulky and heavy when wet like regular diapers

Cons Summary:

Some users complain of leaks but these diapers are not meant to hold urine (they are not absorbent)—they should only be used in the water to contain bowel movements and should not be used on dry land in place of a regular diaper.

Huggies Little Swimmers Diaper Features

The best protection for non-stop fun!
Protect in the water, yet won’t swell up like a diaper.
Stylin’ designs with everyone’s favorite Disney and Disney/Pixar characters.
Available in three sizes to fit infants and toddlers: Small (16-26 lbs.), Medium (24-34 lbs.) and Large (32+ lbs.).

Huggies Little Swimmers User Reviews

Huggies Little Swimmers has received a rating of 4.2 out of 5 stars from reviewers on amazon.com. However, I think this rating is a little misleading because many users rate this swim diaper poorly due to a misunderstanding on how to use the diaper. If these users had understood the true use of the diaper, I believe Huggies Little Swimmers would have received a 4.5 out of 5 star rating.

Understanding Huggies Little Swimmers

First, Huggies Little Swimmers disposable diapers is not meant to be used as a regular diaper. It will not absorb pee. The purpose of Huggies Little Swimmers is to contain bowel movements in the water. That way, if your little one decides to poop while splashing around in the pool, the poop will be contained in the swim diaper. These diapers should only be put on in place of regular cloth diapers or disposable diapers directly before entering the water, and should be removed and replaced with a regular diaper upon exiting the water. Many users are confused about this and complain that the diaper leaks. This is not a diaper to use while driving to the pool or beach—or you’ll end up with a wet car seat. Only put on the swim diaper prior to entering the water.

Those who use the Huggies Little Swimmers correctly are pleased with the product and say their baby does not become “bogged down” like they do when swimming with a regular diaper and these users recommend Huggies Little Swimmers to any parent who plans on taking their baby swimming.

Pampers Baby-Dry Diapers User Reviews

The Pampers Baby-Dry Diapers have received very favorable reviews from hundreds of reviewers on amazon.com, diapers.com and toysrus.com and have achieved a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.

Reviewers who love this diaper say the diaper really can keep their baby dry through the night and it never leaks. They love how absorbent the Pampers Baby-Dry diaper is while still feeling very thin (so it fits well under baby’s clothing) and it is very soft like Pampers Swaddlers diapers. It also has a great baby powder scent. Users also love the fit of the diaper saying it fits snuggly around the baby’s legs and contours to the body just as the description of the diaper claims. Many parents also say the diaper helps to prevent diaper rash on their babies, a claim you usually only hear from users of cloth diapers. There are several “Love This Product,” “Great Diaper” and “Best Product On The Market” written throughout the reviews.

Scattered throughout the many positive reviews are some negative reviews, most of which complain about diaper leakage. However, parents who love this diaper often respond to these complainers saying they should change their baby’s diapers more often to avoid leaks—no diaper can contain an unlimited amount of urine.

Overall, this diaper has received very good reviews and seems to be a diaper worth trying if you are looking for a good fitting, absorbent diaper for your baby.

My Two Cents

The Pampers Baby Dry diaper is a great diaper. I was skeptical when I first purchased this diaper because it was so thin I was sure it would leak. But, after finishing a whole pack now I can honestly say I did not have to deal with one leak. The Pampers Baby Dry diapers are very absorbent diapers, are comfortable, and are nice and thin so they fit very well under clothing. And my daughter loved the Elmo character on the diaper’s band! I have no complaints about these diapers!

However, remember that every baby is different and will not respond to each diaper the same as another baby. It’s always worth trying any diaper to see how your baby responds and only then decide if it is the right diaper for you. So definitely give the Pampers Baby-Dry diapers a try and find out how they work for your baby.

Pampers Cruisers Diaper With Dry Max Description

(Description From Pampers Website)

Playtime will never be the same thanks to New Pampers Cruisers Diaper with Dry Max. Pampers Cruisers are now Our Driest Ever and 20% Thinner than before! Plus, the all-around softness and super-stretchy sides help your baby stay comfortable, giving him freedom to move and play.

The Pampers Cruisers Diapers with Dry Max features:

Now with revolutionary DRY MAX technology
Our first high performance diaper
Super-stretchy sides give babies freedom to move and play
All-around softness helps keep babies comfortable

DRY MAX Technology

DRY MAX technology is one of the biggest innovations in Pampers diapers over the last 25 years. This new technology creates a new category of high performance Pampers Swaddlers and Cruisers, making these Pampers’ driest ever. By applying the DRY MAX technology to the core of the current Pampers Swaddlers and Cruisers wetness is locked in for up to 12 hours.

DRY MAX technology allows these diapers to be 20% thinner than before helping improve Baby’s overall flexibility and comfort for hours of play. The new design contains 10% less material weight which helps families reduce their impact on the environment. In fact, if every Pampers Swaddlersand Cruisers user in North America was to switch to the new Pampers with DRY MAX Swaddlers and Cruisers, together that group could throw away the weight of 1 billion less diapers every three years (based on 08/09 volume for Swaddlers/Cruisers).

Pampers Cruisers Diapers User Reviews

Pampers Cruisers with the new Dry Max Technology has received a rating of 4 out of 5 stars from reviewers on toysrus.com walmart.com, diapers.com and amazon.com.

All Pampers diapers that introduced the new Dry Max Technology initially received mixed reviews—and only a year ago the average user review for the Pampers Cruiser diaper was 3 out of 5 stars. But every day more and more users are posting their reviews for this diaper and now there are well over 1000 of online reviews for the Pampers Cruisers up on the internet—and the majority of these users absolutely love this diaper. The cruisers are very absorbent diapers and one woman even describes the new Cruisers as “thirsty diapers that hold a lot.” Parents also say these diapers last all night without leaking so you don’t have to wake the baby for a middle of the night diaper change—but you are always better off using a night diaper for long stretches without a diaper change. Yet, even though this diaper is super absorbent, it is still very thin and fits great under your baby’s clothing.

Reviewers who love Pampers Cruisers advise other parents to ignore the negative reviews and to “give this diaper a chance.” Some parents really praise the new Dry Max Technology saying the old Cruisers, as well as other brands of diapers, cause their baby’s skin to become wet when the diaper is full. The new dry max technology pulls the moisture away from the skin keeping the baby’s bottom dry, and helping to prevent diaper rash. Many, many parents say the new Pampers Cruisers don’t leak, are as soft as the Pampers Swaddler diapers, and the new Cruiser diapers just “awesome.”

Users Who Hate Pamper’s Dry Max Technology

However, when Pampers first introduced the New Pampers Cruiser with Dry Max Technology there were numerous negative reviews—which over the past year have been noticeably diminishing as the positive users are taking over the review boards. Users who dislike the Pampers Cruisers diaper say this diaper leaks, doesn’t wick moisture away from the skin-so it causes severe diaper rash, doesn’t contain blowouts, and they hate the new dry max technology—which some claim causes chemical burns and blisters. However, official investigations into this claim have been conducted by safety organizations and nothing has been found to link Dry Max Technology and diaper rash, blisters or burns. There is no connection between these diapers and skin irritations.

However, there are users who write that they can’t understand why Pampers altered the original Cruiser diaper which they all loved and several users say Procter and Gamble have lost longtime loyal customers because of this switch. Many users write they will be switching to Huggies, Luvs, or even any generic brand diaper just to get away from the dry max technology. Reviewers are also upset that the diaper costs the same although they feel the quality of the diaper has been downgraded from the original Pampers Cruiser. Apparently, there is even an entire facebook group called “Pampers Bring Back The Old Cruisers,” which has hundreds of members and is growing every day.

Yet, at the same time, there are hundreds and hundreds of reviewers who have written they think the Pampers Cruisers tops Huggies and all other brands of diapers and they never want to use any other diaper beside the Cruisers on their baby.

My Two Cents

When reading the reviews when the Dry Max Technology was first introduced I have to admit I was a bit nervous about these diapers due to the many unhappy users who wrote about their hatred for Dry Max and about how they wished Pampers would bring back the old Cruiser diaper. However, a year down the road the review boards for this diaper have totally changed. While the initial negative reviews are still posted, these users have become the minority as hundreds and hundreds of positive reviews have since been posted all singing the praises of the Pampers Cruisers diaper. It took some time but the Pampers Cruisers has proved its worth and has gained a very happy and steady parent following. Worth a buy!

I think it is always worth giving a diaper a try to see how your baby responds. Just buy a small package of the diaper and test it out. If the diaper doesn’t work out for you then just switch varieties or brands. This is the only real way to test the quality of a baby’s diaper.

Pampers Swaddlers Diaper User Reviews

Pampers Swaddlers Diapers have received a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars from users on toysrus.com, amazon.com, diapers.com and walmart.com.

Users reviewing the new and improved Pampers Swaddlers don’t seem as disappointed with the addition of Dry Max Technology as do the users of the Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive Diapers and the Pampers Cruisers Diapers that have also added Dry Max.

Most reviewers absolutely love the Pamper Swaddlers diaper and the diaper has received many rave reviews on the various message boards. Parents have called this diaper the “Best Diaper” and say the diaper does not leak, really knows how to absorb moisture, and is great at containing messy poops. These users are in awe at how absorbent these diapers are.

Users like the baby powder smell that comes with the diaper and say these diapers are a great fit for small babies. Parents think the Pamper’s Swaddlers are the softest diapers ever and one user writes that these diapers are “blanket soft!” The wetness line that turns blue when the diaper is wet is also a great feature.

Although there was a lot of controversy surrounding the “new dry max technology” when it was first released in 2010, parents report they have not experienced any problems with diaper rash with these new diapers and some parents even claim the new “Dry Max is outstanding!” Another user says the new Swaddlers with Dry Max are “a nice improvement over the original” diaper. Other reviewers simply say, “Love Them,” “Best Diapers Ever Purchased,” “Great Diapers,” and “Love This Diaper.”

Pampers Swaddler Diaper Negatives

Some users complain that the Pampers Swaddlers diaper leaks a lot and that the dry max technology causes diaper rash. They also say the new Swaddlers diaper cannot contain “blow outs.” A few users also report the diaper smells horrible and has a very strong chemical smell—they say that when their baby’s urine mixes with the Dry Max Technology it creates an ammonia smell. Several reviewers say the Swaddler “Was Once A Good Diaper,” “Smells Horrible,” are a “Big Disappointment,” and “Use To Be Our #1 Choice,” but now we are switching brands.

A Love Affair With Swaddlers

One woman wrote that she felt the need to write a positive review for the Pampers Swaddler Diaper in response to any negative reviews. She writes that she loves these diapers and even with the changes they are still the best diapers on the market. She has not had any problems with leaks, blowouts or diaper rashes, nor has any of her friends who all also use the Pampers Swaddler diapers. She recommends that parents try these diapers with their baby and to remember to change baby every few hours. She changes her baby’s diaper every time he eats.

My Two Cents

This woman’s advice is good for any diaper. Every baby is different and will respond to each diaper differently. The only way to truly know how your baby will react to a diaper is to try it out. Also, no matter how advanced the diaper technology for absorption, you should not neglect to change your baby’s diaper. Sitting in a wet diaper is the number one cause of diaper rash. Changing your baby’s diaper every time he/she eats is sound advice. Give the diapers a try and see how your baby responds to them. This is really the only way to find the right diaper for you and your baby.

Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive Diapers User Reviews

Currently, Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive Diapers have a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars on amazon.com, diapers.com and babysrus.com.

Until the spring of 2016 Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive Diapers, no matter which size, received only rave reviews. Parents absolutely love these diapers saying they are the “best diapers ever” and most reviewers say they would definitely recommend these diapers to any new parent. Parents love the tight fit of these diapers, love how the diaper never leaks, and love the comfortable feel of these soft diapers for their baby’s sensitive skin. Many even say the diaper is as soft as a cloth diaper and is the perfect diaper for using with a young baby. These rave reviews still hold for the Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive Diapers size Newborn, size 1 and size 2. In fact, you can rate the Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive diapers in these sizes with a perfect 5 out of 5 rating! However, a few things have changed for the size 3 and size 4 diaper.

Pampers Dry Max Technology

In early 2016 Pampers launched the “new and improved” Swaddlers Sensitive Diapers (only for sizes 3 and 4) with a new Dry Max Technology and the reviews began to go downhill as many former users and lovers of Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive Diapers began complaining about the changes made to the Swaddlers Sensitive Diapers. They say the new and improved diapers with the Dry Max Technology are not as good as the older version of this diaper. Several reviewers write that the new diapers cannot contain bowel movements, saying the diapers are causing major “blow outs,” (you understand the meaning). Many people also complain that these new diapers have a horrible chemical smell that makes you feel nauseous, the diapers are not as soft as their predecessors and the diapers are much thinner than they once were.

One of the biggest complaints written by reviewers about the “new and improved” Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive Diapers (sizes 3 and 4 only) is that they trigger diaper rash. Several parents on the review sites complain that the diaper (due to the new Dry Max Technology) causes horrible diaper rash, or even blisters, on their baby’s bottom—all of which instantly cleared up upon switching diapers. Overall, users are really disappointed about the new version of the Swaddlers Sensitive diaper (again this only pertains to sizes 3 and 4) and can’t figure out why Pampers changed what was previously a really good diaper.

Reviews Are Rebounding

In 2011 the reviews for the Swaddlers Sensitive size 3 and 4 diapers began to recover and many users now love the “new and improved” Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive diapers with Dry Max Technology. Reviewers love the wetness indicator strip in the diaper (included in sizes newborn-size 2) and say the diaper is as soft as a cloth diaper. Others say the diaper helps to clear up their baby’s diaper rash and the diaper is great for babies with sensitive skin (and this counters the claim that the diaper causes diaper rash).

Some reviewers write that these are super comfortable diapers and are better than any other diaper on the market—and even absorb better than all other diapers thanks to the new dry max technology (sizes 3 and 4). One woman writes how she prefers these diapers over Huggies because they don’t smear her baby’s poop all over his skin like Huggies diapers do. She says this is due to Pampers mesh interior fabric (included in sizes newborn, 1 and 2) which helps make poopy cleanup much easier and helps to fight against diaper rash.

Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive Diapers Summary

Parents almost unanimously love the original Pampers Swaddler Sensitive Diaper before the new Dry Max Technology—so sizes newborn, size 1 and size 2 are still rated by parents as the best diaper—it’s soft, it holds messes well, it doesn’t leak, it’s great for sensitive skin and it helps fight diaper rash. However, diaper size 3 and diaper size 4 with the new Dry Max Technology has received mix reviews. Some parents absolutely love this new diaper saying it absorbs leaks greats, is gentle on their baby’s bottom and contains bowel movements well. Others say the opposite claiming the diaper leaks all the time, cannot contain bowel movements at all, and causes their baby to develop diaper rash. So, should you purchase size 3 and 4 with the new dry max technology?

My Two Cents

If you are unsure about whether or not to try this diaper and need some advice then I say go for it. Buy a small package of the diaper and see how you and your baby likes it. Every baby responds differently to products and what works great for some babies may be a disaster for other babies. The only way to find out for sure is through trial and error. Also, remember to change your baby’s diaper often since sitting in a wet or soiled diaper is what leads to diaper rash for most babies—it usually has nothing to do with the diaper itself. If you make an effort to keep your baby’s bottom dry then any diaper you choose should work well with a baby prone to diaper rash.

About Chlorine
“The wood pulp used in Seventh Generation diapers has not been processed with chemicals containing chlorine. This prevents dangerous chlorinated toxins from being released into the environment through the pulp production process.

Did You Know?
If every household in the U.S. with babies replaced just one package of diapers processed with chemicals containing chlorine with chlorine free diapers, they could prevent 2,800 lbs of chlorinated hydrocarbons from polluting our air, lakes and streams. Your choice of a chlorine free product can help reduce the amount of chlorinated toxins released into the environment and help make the world a healthier place for your family and generations to come.

We Disclose All Ingredients
Seventh Generation diapers are made of chlorine free wood pulp, poly backing, and a soft poly outer cover. Absorbency is enhanced through the use of SAP, super absorbent polymer (gel).

A Note About Gel
Seventh Generation uses absorbent polymer (gel) in their diapers because it is the best method for keeping babies dry and reducing diaper rash. The company’s exhaustive research on this gel has shown that it is non-toxic and safe for babies while helping keep them dry and comfortable. Independent scientific research on this chemically inert gel, sodium polyacrylate, has shown that it is non-toxic, not carcinogenic, and non-irritating to the skin.

Seventh Generation Diaper User Reviews

The Seventh Generation diaper has received a rating of 4 out of 5 stars from over a thousand of reviewers on amazon.com, toysrus.com and diapers.com. This is a high rating from so many users.

Parents love the Seventh Generation disposable diaper since it is an eco-friendly disposable diaper and is chlorine free. Reviewers are pleased that there is finally a disposable diaper available that doesn’t make them feel guilty about the environment and many say this diaper is as healthy for a baby’s skin as cloth diapers.

Users write that Seventh Generation diapers are fantastic for babies with sensitive skin or who are prone to diaper rash since the diaper is hypoallergenic, fragrance free and chlorine free. Parents have declared this as the “best disposable diaper,” and have said there is “no other diaper for my children.” Many users say the diaper performs the same as regular disposable diapers such as those from Pampers and Huggies, the diaper doesn’t leak, can even be used as an overnight diaper, and works well with active babies and crawlers. “A great alternative to cloth diapers.”

Seventh Generation Diaper Negatives

Considering the volume of reviews there aren’t too many negative reviews for the Seventh Generation diaper. A few parents say the diaper leaks horribly, and some parents say the diaper is a good day diaper but should not be used as an overnight diaper. Many users, even those who gave favorable reviews, note that the diaper runs a bit small, and some reviewers recommend buying a size up. Some reviewers also complain that the diaper is not a great fit and the diaper elastic waist is not stretchy enough.

Overall, great reviews and worth trying if you are looking for a natural diaper for your baby but don’t want to deal with cloth diapers.

My Two Cents

I came across a great sale on Seventh Generation diapers one day and decided to give them a try. Not following my own advice about buying a small pack of new diapers to try before buying in bulk quanity, I bought two large cases of the size 3 diaper which is suppose to fit babies weighing between 16-28 lbs. My daughter at the time weighed 21 lbs. Unfortunately, the reviewers who report that the Seventh Generation diapers run small are correct. While the size 3 diapers did fit my daughter, it was a tight fit and the diaper tabs are not very flexible, which did not help when it came time to get these diapers on my daughter. Based on this experience I do definitely recommend that you buy one size up when purchasing Seventh Generation diapers, and start off buying a small pack until you are sure of the correct size diaper for your baby.

Except for the size issue, I am overall very pleased with the Seventh Generation diapers. They work just as well as any other disposable diaper on the market and are as easy to put on and take off as Huggies or Pampers diapers (but made without any chemicals). These diapers are not as stretchy, and maybe not as soft as Pampers and Huggies disposable diapers, but my daughter seems perfectly comfortable in them. The absorbency level of Seventh Generation diapers is also comparable to any other disposable diaper on the market and I find they only leak if they had already reached their wetness capacity and then my daughter had a bowel movement. But, these few leaks are not the diaper’s fault. I, unfortunately, did not change my daughter’s diaper frequently enough these times–the same blowout would have happened with any brand diaper had it been so full.

Overall, I think Seventh Generation disposable diapers are fantastic diapers and if you are looking for an easy to use, environmentally friendly diaper but you don’t want to deal with cloth diapers, then Seventh Generation is the perfect diaper for you. Get the environmental seal of approval without all the fuss of cloth diapers.

Double Stroller

2019-02-02T05:59:00.001+05:30

Double strollers have come a long way over the past few decades. Gone are the monstrous and heavy contraptions of our youth. In addition, the use for double strollers has also evolved and they are no longer exclusively for toting twins around town. Many parents now choose to buy double strollers in order to accommodate two siblings of different ages who are both in need of a stroller. With this in mind, many manufacturers have created double strollers with seats that function as separate units in order to accommodate the different needs of these children. One seat can lie flat and/or face the stroller driver (great for babies) while the other seat can sit upright and face forward (great for toddlers).

Types of Double Strollers

There are three designs of double strollers on the market: Tandem Double Strollers, Single To Double double strollers, and Side By Side Double Strollers.
Tandem double strollers are strollers where the seats are positioned one in front of the other. This double stroller then keeps the same width as a normal standard size stroller but is longer than a regular stroller due to the two seats.
A side by side double stroller has a design a bit more obvious to understand. Side by side strollers are when the two seats of the stroller are positioned side-by-side, meaning next to each other. Check out reviews for the Maclaren Twin Triumph stroller, the Baby Jogger City Mini Double stroller, the Combi Twin Sport Double, and the Bumbleride Indie Twin if you are looking for this type of double stroller.

Choosing A Double Stroller Design

Parents who use double strollers are usually very definite in their opinion about which model of design is easiest to use and more practical for everyday strolling. Before deciding on which double stroller is right for you, head out to your local baby supply store and take a few models for a test drive. You can then still always order online for a better deal after you have decided on the double stroller of your choice.

Jogging Strollers And All-Terrain Stroller

Jogging strollers are a great invention for any active parent. Their design allows the user to power walk, hike, jog or even run while effortlessly pushing the baby stroller. Jogging strollers have a special design that prevents air resistance while on the move and state-of-art wheels that allow for a smooth and quick ride. However, you don’t just have to use a jogging stroller for jogging. This type of stroller can also be used as a regular everyday stroller when running errands or just taking a stroll. Choosing A Stroller For Your Lifestyle

My husband and I have some regrets about not purchasing a jogging stroller when our daughter was still young. Our form of exercise before the birth of our daughter was power walking. We had no local gym nearby so we instead created a routine of walking, sometimes on paved roads through neighborhoods and sometimes on off-road terrain along gravel paths. We figured that after the birth of our daughter we would either find a babysitter who could watch her for an hour or so while we walked in the evenings or else we could just take her with us on our walks. It was, after all, power walking, not cross-country running. However, we soon discovered that finding someone to watch the baby most evenings was near impossible. We then tried taking our daughter with us on the walks just pushing her along in her lightweight stroller. This sort of worked but we couldn’t move as fast as we wanted and our backs would begin to hurt since the handle bars of the stroller were not designed for this type of use. We finally gave up trying to walk together and instead took turns: one stayed home with the baby while the other one walked. Finally, around my daughter’s first birthday we purchased an all-terrain/jogging stroller which allows us to take power walks together—even over snow, grass, and dirt.
Again, like when purchasing any baby products, consider your lifestyle before deciding on the type and model of the product. If you are a walker like me then a jogging stroller just may be what you are looking for. However, if you are a regular at the gym instead, then a jogging stroller is probably an unnecessary choice for your baby stroller.
Note: Most jogging strollers should not be used for jogging or running with a baby until the baby is 6 months in age. The excessive shaking and/or bumps could be potentially dangerous for a young baby.

Standard Size Strollers

2019-02-01T20:54:00.001+05:30

Standard size strollers are just that: standard size. These strollers can usually hold infants from birth through toddlerhood, oftentimes longer.
Standard size strollers position the baby forward facing and many of the newer standard strollers are now reversible, allowing young infants to face the stroller pusher (mom, dad, grandma, etc…) and then convert forward facing for older infants and toddlers. If this is a feature that is important to you then you will want to purchase a stroller with a reversible stroller seat or reversible handle bars. Many standard size strollers can also be used as prams, which is when you attach a stroller bassinet to the stroller, allowing the baby to lie down flat like in a bed and face you as you push the stroller and almost all standard size strollers are also travel systems, where you attach an infant car seat to the stroller.

Standard Size Strollers

Some of the benefits of standard size strollers are that they are usually heavy and sturdy enough to hang bags (diaper bag, purse, shopping bags) off the handle bars without tipping the stroller over and most are designed to allow access to the storage basket even when the stroller seat is in the full recline position. Good features to look for when researching standard size strollers are multi-position reclining seats and storage baskets large enough to accommodate a diaper bag.

Standard Size Strollers Cons

Standard size strollers tend to be a bit heavy and/or bulky, taking up large amounts of trunk space when folded and are often difficult to carry with one hand. This makes traveling with standard size strollers cumbersome. Many parents say it is exhausting to lug a standard size stroller from place to place. The wide width of these strollers also tends to make them difficult to maneuver in narrow spaces such as in clothing stores, especially between the racks, or even in supermarket aisles. Parents wanting lighter and more compact strollers should look into purchasing a lightweight stroller. However, the appeal of a standard size stroller does stem from its heavy weight and large size which makes these strollers strong, sturdy and extremely roomy and comfortable for both the baby and for the equipment brought along for the stroller outing. Such storage capabilities are usually not found on most lightweight strollers. Standard size strollers are also often designed with more features than lightweight strollers, making them appealing to both first time and veteran parents.
*Many manufacturers are now producing standard size strollers that are almost as light and as narrow as lightweight strollers, without sacrificing the features and perks of owning a standard size stroller. Take the time to check out user reviews for the various standard size stroller models. Super heavy and bulky standard size strollers are becoming the design of the past!

My Two Cents

There is no such thing as the one perfect stroller. But there may be the perfect stroller for you and your lifestyle.
Before purchasing a stroller figure out how you will be living with the stroller.

Do you live in a city and therefore need a lightweight and narrow stroller that can maneuver through tight and crowded spaces and be folded and carried with one hand when boarding public transportation? But, will you need lots of storage capabilities for lugging bags and groceries around the city?
Or do you live in the suburbs where every place you go is a car ride away and you need a stroller that can accommodate an infant car seat and fold compact to easily fit in the trunk of your car?
Maybe you live in the country and take long walks down dirt roads and other off-road terrain and have ample outside storage areas that mean you rarely have to fold your stroller?
Perhaps you are a runner and require a stroller that will allow you to take your child with you on your exercise excursions?

You get the idea. There is no perfect stroller, only the perfect stroller for your lifestyle, so take the time to evaluate how you want to live with your baby and then decide which stroller features are the most important for your day-to-day life.

Baby Strollers : Best for kids

2019-02-01T20:48:00.004+05:30

Deciding on the right Baby stroller for your baby is an important decision. You will use this piece of baby gear every day for several years, and you may even want the stroller to hold up long enough to use with future children. But how can you know which stroller is right for your needs? Check out our different sections devoted to understanding the many stroller options available and enjoy our summation of parent reviews so that you can best choose the right stroller for you and your baby.

Baby Strollers

Standard Size Strollers

Standard strollers are regular size strollers and can usually hold babies from birth until late toddlerhood or early preschool years. Many standard size strollers are designed in conjunction with infant car seats and are therefore known as travel systems. However, for parents who desire some of the features of a travel system (like having the baby face the stroller pusher) without purchasing a travel system, many standard size strollers have been designed as transformers. These strollers start out as carriages allowing the baby to lie flat and face the stroller driver and then transition to a regular forward facing stroller. On some strollers the seats can be reversed, and sometimes the handle bars on the stroller can be flipped allowing you to face your baby. Less high-tech standard size strollers just allow the baby or toddler to face forward but almost all standard sized strollers are equipped with multi-reclining stroller seats that lie flat, therefore accommodating a newborn. Most parents will choose to invest in a standard size stroller as their first stroller.

Travel System Strollers

Travel systems are the combination of a stroller and infant car seat in one. Some infant car seats can be snapped right into the stroller and sometimes you will need to purchase a car seat adaptor to allow your infant car seat to latch securely to your stroller. Not all infant car seats can be used with all strollers, so be sure to check compatibility before purchasing.
Parents love travels systems because it is possible to move a sleeping baby, undisturbed, from the car to the stroller and vice versa. Infant car seats also come with a carry handle so one can transport the baby in the seat without a stroller, which is great when arriving home with a sleeping baby—you don’t have to wheel the entire stroller inside in order to keep the baby asleep. And, when your baby outgrows the car seat, he can still ride in the stroller.

Lightweight Strollers

Lightweight strollers and umbrella strollers are light and compact strollers that usually accommodate infants from 6 months of age (when they can sit up) until toddlerhood. This minimum age restriction is due to the fact that most lightweight strollers do not have seats that recline flat, therefore making them impracticable (and unsafe) for young infants. However, more and more lightweight strollers are adding this feature, allowing for even newborn infants to sit safely in the stroller. Some lightweight strollers can now even be used as travel systems or as prams (with a baby bassinet).
The main reason for choosing a lightweight or umbrella stroller is the ease at which you can carry and maneuver the stroller, even in small, tight places. Most people wait at least a year before switching from a standard size stroller or travel system to a lightweight or umbrella stroller but many parents are now also choosing lightweight strollers as their sole stroller option (birth to toddlerhood) in place of standard strollers and travel system strollers due to the ease and convenience of these strollers.

Jogging Strollers and All-Terrain Strollers

Jogging strollers are designed for parents on the move. These strollers allow for parents to get in their daily run, without having to find daycare for their infant. Many jogging strollers can even maneuver smoothly over off-road terrain, and several companies are even coming out with lightweight jogging strollers that can also be used as the perfect, everyday stroller when running errands, shopping, or taking a walk. However, users should be aware that most jogging strollers cannot be used for jogging or running with a baby until the baby has reached six months in age.

Double Strollers

Double strollers are dual strollers connected for the purpose of strolling with more than one child. They can be used for twins or for siblings of different ages who both still require the conveniences of a stroller. There are two types of double strollers on the market: Tadem Double Strollers and Side-By-Side Double Strollers.
A Tadem double stroller is when the seats of the stroller are positioned one in front of the other.
Side-by-side double strollers are a bit more obvious—the seats are positioned side by side, meaning next to each other

Baby Carriers

2019-02-01T20:44:00.002+05:30

Baby carriers can best be described as backpack-like (or more appropriately: front pack) contraptions that are used to carry a baby while leaving the carrier’s hands free for other tasks.

Benefits Of Baby Carriers

Carriers are ideal for toting around babies, especially as they begin to get heavy and your arms and back can no longer stand to free-hold them for long periods of time. They are also great for when you are out-and-about but don’t want to take along the stroller—like when nature walking, going to the beach, or shopping in the market.
Infant carriers tend to be sturdier than slings and wraps and are therefore a great choice for older, heavier babies (after 3-4 months). However, this does not mean you cannot use an infant carrier with a younger baby. Many carriers are designed to hold babies as young as a few days old. Check out the recommended use for the carrier you are considering purchasing.

About Infant Carriers

All infant carriers allow the baby to sit up facing the wearer’s chest and should provide ample back and head support for very young infants. Some infant carriers also allow the baby to face forward (in the same sitting up position) but this is not recommended for babies younger than 3-4 months. Depending on the infant carrier, you may even be able to carry the baby on the hip or also on the back (this position is only for older babies). Some carriers are only good for younger babies, under six months and others can safely support a child up to the age of 3-4. Check out the different positions and functions of the carrier before purchase to see how versatile that particular carrier is.
When deciding on an infant carrier you want to consider two important points:

How comfortable is the carrier? Can you carry a heavy baby without causing pain to your back or shoulders? Is the material comfortable and breathable for both you and baby?
How easy is the carrier to put on and take off? Can you do it alone? Can you put the baby in the carrier and take the baby out of the carrier without help?

Baby Carrier Helpful Advice

If possible, hold off on your purchase of an infant carrier until the arrival of your baby. Then take your baby along to the store to try out the sling or wrap, or carrier. Most stores will not object to you testing the product with your baby. See how your baby responds to the different items and then choose the one that best pleases both you and your baby.

Baby Wraps

2019-02-01T20:39:00.004+05:30

Baby wraps usually consist of a very long strand of cloth which can then be wrapped around the user’s body to create various positions for carrying a baby.

Baby Wraps: Don’t Let First Impressions Scare You

Many people initially find the length of the wrap cloth intimidating. But, don’t let your initial impression of a wrap prevent you from testing one out. Once you master the technique of using a wrap (a very simple thing to learn) you may just find that it is the perfect solution for carrying your baby while at the same time saving the strength in your back and arms.

Baby Wraps

Most wraps come with DVD instruction or have YouTube videos that allow you to watch how to use the wrap for different carrying positions. Try practicing once or twice with a stuffed animal or doll until you feel confident in your wrapping technique and then test it out on your baby. Once you understand how to use a wrap they are very easy to put on.

Benefits Of A Baby Wrap

Parents often love wraps because of their versatility. Wraps can be used to create a forward facing carrier, a chest facing carrier (best for young babies), a sling position (also good for young babies) and a hip carrier. If put on correctly, wraps are strong enough to support your baby, often without extra hand support. This then leaves the carrier’s hands free for other tasks.
Whenever my daughter was extremely fussy I would just quickly put on my wrap and go for a quick stroll. She almost always fell asleep against my chest. I would then just go about my day doing what I needed to do while she sleep soundly inside the wrap.

Baby Slings

2019-02-01T20:34:00.002+05:30

A Baby Sling is a pouch-like carrier that holds your baby in cradle position across your chest while allowing your hands to remain free for other tasks. However, slings aren’t 100% stable so always be ready to use your hands to provide a bit of extra support.

Infant Baby Carriers: Baby Slings

Slings are only really useful with young infants since they only allow the baby to lie across the chest. The benefit of a sling over a baby carrier and a baby wrap is that putting on a sling is relatively easy. For most slings you just put the single strap over your head and shoulder so that it crosses your body like a side-carrying school bag. The pouch of the sling should be positioned across your torso. Then put the baby in this pouch with the head at the highest angle. Most people can easily take a baby in and out of a sling without any help.
Overall, parents are mixed about their enthusiasm for slings. Some parents love them, especially for newborns since they provide a womb-like atmosphere for the baby inside the pouch and close to the carrier’s heart, while at the same time allowing the person carrying the baby to have their hands free for other activities. However, some parents find that babies feel too constricted in slings since they can’t see the world around them as the pouch usually restricts any view of the surroundings.
A friend of mine loved using a sling with her baby whenever she had computer work to do. The baby was positioned comfortably for her to be in a seated at her desk and it allowed her to easily work on the computer undisturbed while at the same time being able to maintain eye contact with her baby.

Helpful Advice: If possible, hold off on your purchase of an infant carrier until the arrival of your baby. Then take your baby along to the store to try out the sling or wrap, or carrier. Most stores will not object to you testing the product with your baby. See how your baby responds to the different items and then choose the one that best pleases both you and your baby.

Infant Carriers

Infant Carriers: Unfortunately for parents, most babies want to be held, all the time. To help make this task a little easier, all parents should consider investing in some sort of sling, wrap or baby carrier to help take the strain of carrying a baby off their hands, arms and backs and to free their hands for other activities while simultaneously carrying the baby.

Baby Slings

A baby sling is best used for young babies as they only allow the baby to be held in a horizontal position. Slings usually have one strap that goes around the shoulder and back, like a one strap, side carry school bag. The main pouch of a sling falls across the carrier’s chest and stomach and the baby is then inserted into this pouch. This creates a sort of cradle for the baby close to the heart of the carrier and leaves both hands free to work, write, clean up, etc….

Baby Wraps

Baby wraps are very popular for new babies. Wraps usually consist of one long strand of fabric which can then be tied around the body in different ways to create many different positions for carrying. Most wraps come with DVD instruction to teach you how to use your wrap. After practicing a few times you should master the technique and then you will find wraps extremely simple to use. Babies like wraps because they are held close to the carrier’s chest and also because of their versatility: you can create a forward facing carrier, a chest facing carrier, a hip sling, or a regular sling.

Baby Carriers

Baby Carriers are like backpacks for babies that are usually carried on the front of the body. Carriers come with shoulder and waist straps to secure the carrier to the person who will carry the baby and, in well constructed carriers, these straps should help to take some of the weight of the baby off the shoulders and back of the person carrying the baby. The positions in which a baby can be carried in a carrier vary, but most allow the baby to face the chest of the person doing the carrying or to face the world and some carriers also can be positioned as a hip carrier. Backpack carriers allow older babies and children to be carried on the back of the person doing the carrying.

Note: Although you should of course follow the specific recommendations of the carrier/sling/wrap of the company of purchase, most carrying devices are not designed for babies younger than four months to face forward. Babies younger than this age should either be positioned in a cradle or sling position or sitting upright but facing the person doing the carrying. Only once the baby can support his/her head alone, and for long periods of time, can the baby be placed in a forward facing carrier or wrap position.

Sleep Sacks

Sleep sacks are a relatively new item on the market for baby sleep safety (well, they weren’t around when most of us were kids) and are a favorite among parents because they help to lower the instances of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

Sleep sacks are like mini sleeping bags for babies and help to prevent the baby from pulling blankets and other loose bedding over his/her face cutting off the oxygen supply. They are worn directly over the baby’s sleepwear and help to keep the baby warm and cozy all night. Sleep sacks come in a variety of styles and materials: some sacks are made of cotton (breathable and good for warmer weather or cold weather when paired with a baby blanket) and some are made of fleece or terry cloth (great for cold, winter nights). Hospitals and baby nurseries all over the some country are switching to sleep sacks for safe baby crib bedding.

Using A Sleep Sack

Sleep sacks are designed with a long zipper down the front. You just place your baby inside, the same way you would when dressing your baby in a sleep n’ play. Many brands, like Halo—the inventor of the sleep sack, have reversible zippers so that you can easily perform a diaper change without having to remove your baby from the sleep sack. Just unzip the sack from the bottom up.
The only annoyance about sleep sacks is that you need to get your baby into the sleep sack before putting him/her to sleep. If your baby falls asleep in your arms before you have put him/her in the sleep sack, you risk waking the baby to put on the sleep sack. Plan ahead. If you know your baby tends to go down for the night every evening around 7:30pm, and then put your baby in the sleep sack by 7:00. This will ensure your baby falls asleep already safely bundled in the sleep sack.

*Sleep Tip: Stomach Sleep
In 1992 the American Academy of Pediatrics recommended that babies should sleep on their backs to help prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Since this time SIDS has decreased by 50% in the United States. So, rule of thumb: always place your baby on its back for sleep (unless otherwise instructed by your doctor). However, your baby will sleep more comfortably and more soundly on its stomach. You can begin allowing your baby to sleep on its stomach once your baby has the ability to roll over on its own. This way if your baby does not get enough oxygen when sleeping on its stomach it has the ability to roll over to its back.

Choosing Crib Bedding

What is crib bedding? Crib bedding consists of anything you will need for inside your baby’s crib like crib sheets, crib bumpers, crib blankets, etc…. Many companies sell crib bedding sets that include matching sets of all these things. For a bit extra you can even find matching lamps, laundry hampers and wall hangings to complete your nursery’s coordinated look.
You can also buy items of crib bedding separately to create your own unique look. You can choose a patterned or neutral crib bumper and then sheets to match. Even if you buy a crib bedding set you will still need to purchase some extra crib sheets since most crib bedding sets only come with one fitted sheet for the crib. You will need 2-4 crib sheets for your baby’s crib depending on how often you do laundry. You’ll definitely need one clean crib sheet always ready and waiting at all times in case your baby spits in the crib (and it happens). You will also need a waterproof crib sheet to protect the crib mattress. These sheets are placed on the mattress under the fitted crib sheet and are usually left in place (not changed or cleaned) unless a major accident happens that requires clean up.

Are Crib Bumpers Safe?

There has been a lot of controversy lately over the safety of crib bumpers. Traditionally crib bumpers were placed inside the crib to prevent babies from sticking their hands, legs and heads through the crib slates. They also help to create a secure and cozy feel for the baby inside the crib; an environment that helps babies to sleep peacefully. However, some studies and experts now say that crib bumpers can restrict the flow of fresh air into the crib and increase the risk for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Some experts also worry that babies who can move might roll into the crib bumper and suffocate in the material. However, despite this warning parents everywhere continue to use baby bumpers for at least the first few months of their baby’s time in the crib and companies all over the world continue to sell baby bumpers as part of crib bedding sets.
Decide for yourself if a crib bumper is right for your baby. If you are worried about the risk consider purchasing a baby sense movement monitor which can detect the subtlest movements your baby makes and set off an alarm if your baby’s breathing becomes shallow (like if your baby gets caught in the crib bumper).
