Netherland - Road to the World Cup 2010 Final

Road to the World Cup 2010 Final

Many European soccer fans penciled Spain into the final when they first saw the FIFA World Cup 2010 bracket. But only serious soccer fans had the Netherlands in the other half of their bracket. Those serious fans knew these two were among the best European teams in the field, and they have both lived up to expectations.

Netherlands is undefeated in World Cup 2010. After a perfect run through group play Netherlands held on to beat Slovakia 2-1 in the round of 16, and rallied in the second half to beat Brazil 2-1 in a huge upset in the quarterfinals. Netherlands beat Uruguay 3-2 in a wild, high-scoring semifinal game.

World Cup 2010 has been a challenge for Spain.. Since an opening game defeat to Switzerland, coach Vicente Del Bosque’s team has been forced to fight for its life in a series of tight matches. La Furia Roja did control the match in the round of 16 vs Portugal but only managed a 1-0 win. The quarterfinal match against Paraguay was another typical nail-biter, with both sides missing penalty shots in the second half, and the Spanish side only pulling out the win with David Villa's goal in the 82nd minute. Spain defeated Germany in another tight match in the semifinals, this time 1-0 on Carlos Puyol's goal in the 73rd minute.

Playing to win the World Cup trophy is the aim of the Netherlands’ national soccer team. The country have struggled to impose themselves on the international stage, with a fourth place finish at the World Cup being their best record in the past two decades.

The Netherlands have shown a lot of hunger lately and it was probably a bad day that saw their wonderful run cut short by Russia at the 2008 European Championships. The Oranje have the ability to beat some of the world’s most decorated teams and they showed that by defeating both Italy and France in Euro 2008.

But one might argue about the weakness of Italy and France in that particular tournament. So to engrave their mark in the history books, the Netherlands will need to outshine the rest in their bright orange kits at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Looking at the Netherlands national football team, some names are poised to come out and make the difference.

Robin Van Persie

If he gets to feature for the Netherlands during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, then Robin Van Persie could turn out to become one of the Netherlands' most influential players. The attacker is one of the English Premier League’s finest footballer but his career has lately been shattered by a long term injury.

There might be concerns over how Van Persie will adjust and perform during the World Cup. However, if his health presents no worries come June, then expect the striker to dazzle in front of goal. Robin Van Persie will be driven by his desire to be recognized as one of the world's best players.

Wesley Sneijder

The former Real Madrid and current Inter Milan player is set to impose himself as one of the world’s best midfielders. Wesley Sneijder is positive in his thinking on the field of play and his ability to push the game forward should very much benefit the Oranje.

Sneijder can also be spectacular with great goals; goalkeepers might not want to deal with his long range shots so they'll hope that the midfielder underperforms. Well, opponents will have to bear in mind that the 2010 UEFA Champions League winner looks set to add more silverware and medals to what he already has in his cabinet.

Arjen Robben

He claims he cannot and is not in the class of Lionel Messi. But your eyes will tell you something else. Arjen Robben is the second fastest footballer on the planet after Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo. His quick feet perform wonders.

He disturbs defenders with his trademark runs as he drifts from the wings, cuts into the penalty area, and lashes his shots much to the dislike of goalkeepers. Arjen Robben's health is fragile though, but if he can put his injury worries behind, then expect him to contend as the most outstanding player of the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament.

2010 FIFA World Cup Final: Netherlands vs Spain – David Villa Statistics – Player To Watch

2010 FIFA World Cup Final: Netherlands vs Spain – David Villa Statistics – Player To Watch

The UEFA Euro 2008 top scorer has not stopped showing his amazing goalscoring skills in South Africa. He is his team’s top scorer with 5 goals in 6 games, and a potent contender for the 2010 World Cup Top Scorer award. In this pre-World Cup final article, Live Soccer TV looks at the statistics of David Villa, so as to widen the supporters’ knowledge on the deadly Spanish attack, prior to the 2010 FIFA World Cup final.
David Villa - Goal Scored in 2010 FIFA World Cup

Villa, the newly-signed forward of FC Barcelona, has not scored any penalty in the 2010 World Cup so far, since Xabi Alonso is Spain’s expert penalty-taker. However, Villa tops the goalscoring standings along with Netherlands’ Wesley Sneijder; with all his goals being scored from open play.

Villa did not register himself on the scoring sheet in Spain’s opening match against Switzerland, but he bounced back on the second Day with 2 goals as La Furia Roja won 2-0 controversially over Honduras. On Day 3, Villa proved his worth in front again by scoring another goal, this time, from long distance; and the story in the Round of 16 was not quite different.

In a game where Portugal were looking for nothing but a triumph, Villa enlightened himself again by scoring his side’s winning goal. Replays visibly showed that he was offside at the moment he received the ball, but the assistant referee was not at the perfect position to spot the mistake. Subsequently, Villa became a “hero” once again in that encounter; before killing off Paraguay again in the quarterfinals, when his accurate strike gave Spain a valuable 1-0 win to join Germany in the semifinals.
David Villa - Pass Accuracy in 2010 FIFA World Cup

Villa might not be a master of passes, but at least, he manages to push his team in the opposing half by feeding them with intelligent balls. Although his most difficult style of passes (crosses) only equals 44% of completion rate, he can be satisfied with his accuracy in the most common passing type (short passes), as his completion rate raises to 70%.
David Villa - Additional statistics

Is it true that without having a Money, Your Life will be Meaningless??

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Sun, 20 Jun 2010 13:46:00 +0000

No money, means your life is meaningless. There's a lot of people in this world that wondering where and how to earn as much money as they could while still in a young age. Meaning to say, people tend to think of retire young but with lots of money in their savings account. But then, how?

It is true that without a money, life would be meaningless and hopeless. But then, before we start to think about where to get money, have you ever wonder how to get money?

I guess the simple word is "PASSION". I believe passion is a combination of love and hate. Cause if you want to success in your life, someone should has a passion for something, otherwise it is difficult to accomplish anything. Am I right??

I remember the quote written by the author of Rich Dad Poor Dad saying this, " If you want something, be passionate. Passion gives energy to your life."

Therefore, for us to believe in his quote. We should find out "Why I love what I want, and why I hate not having what I want"

I'm sure the reason of combining these two thoughts , will somehow help us to find the energy to get off our seat, and then starts to look at go get anything that I want", eg MONEY. We should find ways to get money and learned how to make use of our knowledge and skills to get it...

Of course, please don't get frustrated whenever your plan is unsuccessful. Coz, if you do, this will drives a negative energy to your life..

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Tue, 15 Jun 2010 11:59:00 +0000

T-mobile decided to finally release its own BlackBerry. Up to now the had only had the Cingular cell phone. The only downside of this gadget would be the low quality of the photos it takes, but hey, for that you can buy a professional camera and you’ll get the quality no phone can offer you. And besides, the BlackBerry 8800 is on sale for just 249.99$.

The device is easy to carry around because of its lightness and the fact that it can easily fit in you pocket. The little trackball used for navigating slowly vibrates when you handle it. Motorola new invention

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Tue, 15 Jun 2010 11:57:00 +0000

All of todays cell phones are equipped with a rechargeable battery. One of the most important features is how long your battery will hold, both while you are using the phone and while it is on stand-by.

And don’t you hate it when it runs off exactly when your boss wanted to call you about that promotion, or when that party you had to go to was canceled but your phone was dead so you ended up being the goose?

Well, apparently these kind of things happened also to the guys from Motorola, because they decided to develop the first cell-phone that is rechargeable on solar energy. Well it seems like this phone recharges itself taking energy from the sun through his LCD screen. Not to mention that alternative energy sources such as solar energy are the energy sources of the future. It sounds like Motorola have bought themselves place there.

Shoppers caught unawares by ‘No Plastic Bag Day’ campaign By SHAUN HO

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Sun, 13 Jun 2010 16:07:00 +0000

PETALING JAYA: Selangor’s first ‘No Plastic Bag Day’ on Jan 2 went by so quietly that many consumers, although applauding the move, were frustrated at being caught unawares.

The Selangor government had on Dec 20 declared its plans to make every Saturday a plastic bag-free day effective Jan 1.

A senior executive who wished to be known as Raj said he had gone shopping at a hypermarket in Subang Jaya on Saturday, not knowing it was the first day of the campaign.

“At the counter, the cashier told me it was a ‘no plastic day’ and she would not give me plastic bags.

“There was no visible sign to announce about the campaign. As I had bought more than RM100 worth of groceries, she gave me a complimentary reusable shopping bag,” said Raj, who works in the shipping industry as a purchasing officer.

He added that the bag was not big enough to contain all the purchased items, and he had to cart the trolley to the car park and unload the items into his car boot.

“I support the campaign, but it should be made known to consumers. I saw many others caught by surprise at the cashier’s line.”

Carrefour public relations manager Salmieah Mohd Zin said there had been a few complaints from consumers at its stores but “it was a matter of educating the public.”

She added that most Carrefour stores in the Klang Valley have been plastic bag-free since last year and their target was to have no plastic bags in Carrefour Malaysia by 2012.

Customers who insist on plastic bags will have to pay 10 sen per bag.

However, Giant will only be implementing its “no plastic bag” days from Jan 9, said marketing manager Ho Mun Hao.

He said their stores in Penang had promoted the campaign well, with managers explaining the concept to customers.

“We will prepare carton boxes for customers to pack their things. Plastic bags will still be available at 20 sen but we will be selling reusable bags at RM1.99,” Ho added.

Cold Storage will also observe the ‘no plastic bag day’ on Saturdays. Currently, the stores do not give out plastic bags on Thursdays.

Convenience store chain 7-11 will also be starting its ‘no plastic bag’ campaign this Saturday, its website said.

Is gaming good for the mind?

by Ben Silverman
Buzz up!

July 2 12:40 P.M.

Remember training your brain through games? Since bursting onto the scene a few years ago in Nintendo's hit Brain Training games, the concept of gaming our way to bigger, better cortexes has flamed out a bit, due largely to a flood of poorly-made, copycat titles and the dwindling of the belief that this sort of thing actually makes you smarter.
Brain Games

Food for thought

But while consumers have shifted away from the pseudo-educational genre, scientists have dropped it under a microscope in the hope of gleaning some insight into exactly how games affect the mind.

And according to some recent studies, it turns out that playing video games not only stimulates those synapses, but might actually make you a sharper thinker after all.

Courtesy of a $1.2 million grant, researchers from North Carolina State University and the Georgia Institute of Technology are hard at work studying whether or not video game playing can boost thinking skills and memory in the elderly. Rather than simply determining if certain games increase certain brain functions, the team is hoping to first identify the qualities that make a game good for the brain, then use that information to build a prototype brain game from the ground up.

The game best suited for the job? Oddly enough, it's EA's critically-acclaimed Boom Blox games. Dr. Anne McLaughlin, assistant professor of psychology at NC State, believes the Wii puzzle-party franchise contains three fundamental brain-strengthening qualities -- attentional demand, novelty and social interaction -- key to making a great brain game.

"For example, if we find that novelty and attentional demand improve cognition, we'll then develop a game that focuses on that," she said.

While McLaughlin and her crew aim to help grandparents stay sharp, other are examining what effects gaming will have on the next generation. A recent article in Scientific American targets "plasticity," or the brain's ability to dynamically change in response to experiences. Children are more susceptible to this kind of change, which means that the kinds of games they play could have different effects on their adult skill sets.

So which games are best for kids? That depends on what they want to be when they grow up. A study at the University of Rochester indicates that playing action games can increase hand-eye coordination and sharpen vision, while playing games like The Sims 2 might improve social interactions and even make people more empathetic. So if Johnny wants to be a fighter pilot, he might want to play some Wii Sports Resort instead of Wii Music.

Plus, you know, it's just a better game. And it doesn't take a big brain to figure that out.
