Joo-won Signs on to Joint Chinese-Korean Melo-Romance

2014-05-07T15:00:00.000+07:00

No story. Yet : Xiao You Qiao Mu, the film project that Joo-won (Good Doctor) has announced will be his next, in which he’ll appear with former Super Junior member Hangeng.
Xiao You Qiao Mu will be a melodrama backed by large-scale distributor and production company China First, co-produced by Yuehua Entertainment, and helmed by Korean director Jo Jin-kyu (My wife Is a Gangster). It’s based on an internet novel that’s been popular over the past four years that has been such a hot property that apparently mere rumors of film adaptations have lit up the internet.

The head of Yuehua’s Korean branch, Lee Sang-kyu, explained that Joo-won is currently enjoying a lot of popularity in China, and the news of his casting in Nodame Cantabile recently was met with a lot of interest, which explains why they’re eager to strike while he’s hot.

The film is about three men fall in love with one woman.

Xiao You Qiao Mu will begin filming mid-month, and will be shot in both Korea and China. I'll just wait Nodame and read about the development with this melo and romance.

Park Hyung-shik, Seo Kang-joon, Nam Ji-hyun Called for What’s With This Family

2014-05-07T12:16:00.001+07:00

Casting is underway for KBS’s newest weekend drama due out this summer, called What’s With This Family. Idol Park Hyung-shik (Heirs, Nine) of Ze:A has been offered the lead, and up-and-comer Seo Kang-joon (Sly and Single Again) and former child star Nam Ji-hyun (Angel Eyes, Hwa-yi) are in talks to join the cast as well. The series will be about a family going about their boisterous lives, and will focus on the family’s bond.

Seo Kang-joon’s character is a bit confusing — he’s either the lead’s bestie, rival, or both, and it appears he may get caught up in a love triangle with Park Hyung-shik and Nam Ji-hyun from a little plot we know. A source at KBS was quick to caution that there is still a lot of time left before production begins, and the cast is subject to change.

What’s With This Family' writer will be Kang Eun-kyung (Gu Family Book, Baker King Kim Tak-gu) and will follow Wonderful Season.

Premiers in August

Jung Il Woo Confirms Gold Rainbow

2013-10-17T20:41:00.001+07:00

A good news is when Jung Il Woo headlining a new drama. But to find out it will be a long weekend drama is pretty frustrated. At least for me. I've never been a fan for a 50 or more long episodes kind of drama. The last thing I had is Ojakkyo Brothers.

Another good thing is we got Uee as a heroine, and she did great in Ojakkyo. Pairing with Il Woo could be promising. This series tilled by May Queen Pictures and we're certainly hope this one will not as boooored as May Queen.

Uee stars as one of the seven orphans who band together as a family with Kim Sam Joong as their surrogate father. While Jung Il Woo plays as the son of Jo Min Ki, who get tossed aside once his father remarried and start a new family. Despite grow up as an avengeful man, he become a nice prosecutor. A little arrogant but not in front of our heroine, Uee, he'll turn out a sweet man.

Not a brand new lineup, but I'm expecting more from this drama. When Uee is notably fine in her previous weekend series (Ojakkyo Brothers). It's not fixed about the amount of the episode though. But mostly they'll do 50 in such a long weekend show. Premiers in next November 2nd, the drama starts with Lee Chae Mi and Kim Yoo Jung as the young main characters.

Heirs (2013)

2013-10-16T23:21:00.000+07:00

New series that caught me in the eye. Familiar actor/actress or my favorite normally become the reason why I watch the show. But if it's not, that because of the recommendation, or just lucky instinct (pretty much).

But this most anticipated drama of the year, or as they say got me a little extracted. Fresh names and even so many youngster I completely just knew arises. It's a good thing though. And by fresh, I mean not just physically, cause some of them are competent in dramaland.

The writer is Kim Eun Seok, the person behind Gentleman's Dignity and Secret Garden. See? It should be hit. Please be it. As clearly as the title, Heirs revolves around super wealthy youth whom someday will inherit the riches. Yes, there'll be many chaebol. And a candy girl that catches the hero heart.

Lee Min Ho as Kim Tan plays the hero, second son of the Empire Group (from now I will call it Je Guk) unearthly leaving Korea to study abroad (California, USA). Park Shin Hye will portray Cha Eun Sang, a candy girl who got a various part-time job for a living. She's also a heir, of poverty.

And we got Kim Woo Bin as Choi Young Do, the heir of Zeus Hotel. Krystal (f(x)) as Lee Bona, the daughter of Mega Entertainment, and Ki Ji Won as Rachel Yoo. There are also Kang Min Hyuk, Kang Ha Neul, Park Hyung Shik and Joon Su Jin. I sure need some time to remember theirs.

An ordinary girl enter high class society, not to mention with good looking guys around? Sound so Boys Over Flower to me. The first two hours of the show didn't put that feeling away. Though we need absolutely more than just 2 episode to know whether we're into it or not. I'm hoping this gonna be different to the legendary F4 stories. Of course it will right? Please be different. I love the casts.

Sohn Ye Jin Confirms For Sharks

2013-03-30T15:00:00.000+07:00

Finally some confirmations for Shark, the melodrama for upcoming KBS series. While the production has been floating several big names in the press, Sohn Ye-jin (Personal Taste, Tower) is the first to officially sign on. Kim Nam-gil (Bad Guy) rumored to make this his comeback series after 3 years, but we’ll have to wait.

Sohn’s character is the only daughter to the owner of a large hotel, possessing of a strong and independent nature. She rejects the chaebol path of inheriting the family business and instead becomes a prosecutor, a job into which she pours all of her energies.
The leading man, on the other hand, backstabs the woman he loves in the pursuit of revenge and also changes his face. haha. After her family is the cause of his father’s death, he disguises himself with a new face and identity and reapproaches his enemies, only to fall in love with the daughter. A melodrama.

Aside from potential big-name stars, one point of interest of this drama is that it’s the work of a writer-director pair who brought two notable dramas in this genre: Resurrection in 2005 and Devil in 2007. Both were dark, intense, and dramatic.I will be really love if it is.

I’m starting to see more stories about possible castings in the headlines, so I’d expect more confirmations to follow soon. Kim Nam-gil has been heavily touted as the likely lead, while idol star Gu Hara (City Hunter) has been floated as his character’s younger sister. But if it some-great guy else, I wouldn't be mind.

Shark will follow God of the Workplace and is set to premiere in May.

Joo Won And Kim Ah Jung To Stars In New RomCom Film

2013-03-30T12:00:00.000+07:00

Joo-won and Kim Ah Joong is reportedly to headline new romantic comedy film called Only You, about a cop and a house burglar who fall in love. It just the title I don;t understand.

She’ll play a cat burglar, while he’s a cop and a profiler. The profiling must figure into the story in some way, though there are no plot details yet for how and why the cop and robber end up falling in love. Maybe I will be on to this one, because it’s a little more appealing than your average opposites-attract rom-com. Because there are higher stakes and laws to break, and possible jail time separation.

I love the two, but not as a pairing (she's older by 5 years. But it's fine). But I hope they will funny together in this movie.

The movie plans to finish casting and start shooting by the end of April for a release later this year.

Kim So Hyun To Play Young Song Yuri

2013-03-30T10:30:00.000+07:00

Child actress Kim So-hyun (I Miss You) is playing the younger version of Sung Yuri in the weekend drama Birth Secret, a melodrama about a genius heroine with amnesia and a birth secret. Kim So-hyun always does a great job of kicking off a drama and gaining the audience’s sympathy right away. But not like her previous role, in this upcoming drama she gets to play the brighter version of the heroine, long before the amnesia take place

She starts out as an optimistic Candy-type and also a genius character. She also holds the key to the central puzzle/mystery of the story, which of course isn’t explained further in the plot description. Well, it must be a birth secret right? You know.

As an adult (played by Sung Yuri), she’ll have amnesia and not remember her husband (Yoon Joon-sang) and young daughter, who is also a genius just like Mom. The main story will be her piecing together her own life in the wake of her memory loss, and also coming around to the idea that she’d ever marry a man who seems so wrong for her. The drama calls itself a trend. We're not sure, are we? But everything could happen in dramaland.

The 20-episode series will be brought by the writer of Cinderella’s Sister and the director of Spring Days. It follows Incarnation of Money and premieres April 27 on SBS.

Kim Nam Gil and Sohn Ye Jin To Pairing Up In New Drama?

2013-03-18T14:51:00.002+07:00

There still no official statement, but both Kim Nam-gil and Sohn Ye-jin rumored to star in new KBS revenge drama Shark. It’s the latest project from the writer-director team behind Fermentation Family, Mawang (Devil), Resurrection, and ’90s series School. Shark will be the final installment of the Resurrection/Devil trilogy.

It’s slated to follow Kim Hye-soo’s rom-com God of the Workplace on Mondays/Tuesdays, but the casting on this one still sounds very iffy — both Kim Nam-gil and Sohn Ye-jin’s reps confirm that it’s a drama they’re looking at, but say that it’s just one of many potential projects. There’s very little info on the drama itself, but I like the pairing, and it’d be great to see Kim Nam-gil a revenge thriller like Bad Guy. Both the actor and the actress are years away from dramaland, so it will be an interesting double comeback.

Shark is looking at a late-May or early-June premiere on KBS.

[BTS] That Winter, The Wind Blows For High Cut

2013-03-14T13:00:00.000+07:00

Currently airing on SBS, melodrama that become hit now, That Winter, The Wind Blows done a freeze but quietly warm photoshoot in the latest issue of High Cut magazine.

The photos are the behind-the-scenes shots taken from the characters’ mountaintop “snow date,” broadcast in the recent episode. Despite all the teary and emotionally sad drama, the pair look really nice and with all the smiles, I'm just hoping that this drama wil turn out happily ever after.

The scene was shot at a ski resort in Gangwon-do last Friday, March 1. That Winter, the Wind Blows airs on Wednesdays-Thursdays and is currently leading the ratings without challange. While KBS’s IRIS 2 and MBC’s Level 7 Civil Servant are fighting it out to claim a distant second place.

More Still From Flower Boy Next Door

2013-01-03T10:47:00.001+07:00

It's an overload cuteness from a drama that only a few days to expect . The premier of Flower Boy Next Door is just a few days ahead but if you can't endure the waiting, here's full of cute pictures from upcoming rom-com drama stars Park Shin Hye and Yoon Shi Yoon.

Park Shin-hye plays Go Dok-mi, a solitary girl who locks herself up in her apartment and lives a rather unusual life. No one knows what trauma in her past caused her to lock herself away, but Dok-mi doesn’t engage with the outside world, and chooses to stay in her apartment. She has a rare hobby, peeping on her across-the-hall neighbor, whom she fantasizes about as being the perfect man.

Yoon Shi-yoon is Enrique Geum, a golden boy, who has spent most of his life in Spain. His nickname is Kkae-geum. That cracks me up. Enrique returns to Korea and moves into, of all places, Mr. Perfect’s apartment. Dok-mi doesn’t realize it, and he catches her peeping at him expecting someone else entirely.

Kim Ji-hoon plays Oh Jin-rak, our heroine’s next-door neighbor. He’s a webtoon artist who never bothers to comb his hair or wear anything other than a tracksuit, and keeps backwards nighttime hours because of his job. He’s the only person in the building who’s ever even noticed Dok-mi, but he knows all about her strange life and looks out for her in little ways. But when the cocky Enrique arrives, he starts to worm his way into Dok-mi’s world too, and Jin-rak suddenly finds himself having to fight for Miss Lonelyhearts.

Flower Boy Next Door premieres January 7 on tvN.

Rich Man Poor Woman To Return With Special Episode

2013-01-03T10:05:00.002+07:00

One of my favorite dorama, Rich Man Poor Woman has announced on Dec 25th the popular Fuji TV drama ‘Rich Man, Poor Woman‘ – starring Oguri Shun and Ishihara Satomi – is going to return with a special episode this coming spring.

So, Taru's unsocial behavior and Makoto's cheerful and cute aura once again entertain us, and I'm waiting for this really.

In the special episode, Makoto will be returning to Japan for one week to live at Toru’s place for the short stay (at the finale episode, she's gone to Brazil for work). However, the lively and homely Makoto doesn’t seem to feel at home at his apartment, since he rather wants to live with as little furniture as possible. So I'm curious what will it be. Throughout this one week, the two of them keep on colliding with their sense of values and their lifestyle, but it also makes them bond more like a family. Moreover, the special episode will explain how ‘Asahina Kosuke’ (Iura Arata) managed to return to Toru and his joint venture “Next Innovation”, which was left unanswered in the final episode.

And I hope something more about his mother though. Because the thing doesn't got me any more clearer too.

Yoo Seung Ho To Enlist In New Year

2012-12-22T10:31:00.002+07:00

Apparently this is the 'proper' age for South Korean men to enlist. So if there are you favorite actors or idols in their mid 20's procrastinate it, he must have a hundred reason. Better be.

Yet, get ready to cry. Cause this adorable young boy Yoo Seung Ho announced that he’s enlisting in the army early next year, right after his current show I Miss You is over. To me, is a wise decision of him. Cause army duty is one of those big sticking points when it comes to celebrities for many reasons, including the constant postponements till the last possible second you have to go.

Yoo Seung Ho is young, but not new in the celebrity thing since he already 12 years in showbiz.

Go off, do your time and get some abs. And back for a thousands leading man offer. We'll miss you.

Flower Boy Next Door Release Its Teaser

2012-12-07T14:30:00.001+07:00

January should be good, offered us two rom-com in kdramaland. The first teaser is out for tvN’s Flower Boy Next Door, featuring leads Yoon Shi-yoon and Park Shin-hye cozying up for a kiss, only it's just the heroine fantasies. What a way to make me bemused.

The drama stars Park Shin-hye as a lonely and blushful type of girl, who spends her days spying on hot neighbor Kim Ji-hoon, only to be caught redhanded by her other neighbor, Yoon Shi-yoon. Kim Ji-hoon is a sloppy manhwa artist, while Yoon Shi-yoon is a younger golden boy named Enrique.... O..kayy... It's cute when boys in the teaser are labeled thusly: Front Neighbor, Next-door Neighbor, Back Neighbor, Side Neighbor, and Across-the-way Neighbor. Oh heaven neighbor.

I’m really looking forward for this drama, because I know living in a building full of pretty boys sounds impossible but it'd different than any kdrama whose characters coincidentally run into each other all the time while we know Seoul is a huge capital city with million people.

Flower Boy Next Door premieres January 7 on tvN.

Matsumoto Jun And Ueno Juri Together for The First Time In New Movie

2012-12-06T16:30:00.000+07:00

So, Arashi’s Matsumoto Jun and actress Ueno Juri are going to star in a new movie it was announced last Dec 3rd. The movie will be entitled ‘Hidamari no Kanojo‘ with Miki Takahiro as the director (known as his work Solanin, Boku ga Ita).

‘Hidamari no Kanojo’ is based on a novel of the same name by author Koshigaya Osamu, which has sold more than 350,000 copies up until now. It’s said to be the number one love story girls want boys to read. So unless your boy really into literature, I want to know how the girls convince them. The original story is set in Chiba, but the movie adaptation is going to move the setting to the region of Shonan along the coast of Sagami Bay. It’s not just about the mere feeling of love that is awakening between two people, but about the kind of feeling that you can only experience once in a life time. Not only romance everywhere, but also the story also features some mystery and fantasy elements.

Okuda Kosuke (Matsumoto) has been working for this advertising company for three years, when he met Watarai Mao (Ueno) at the reception of a new client. Mao is his childhood friend from junior high school whom he hasn’t seen for more than 10 years. Better be really good to make me into the plot cause there are pretty much shows with this kind of storyline. Mao used to be the biggest fool at the school and was often bullied by the others, but now she has transformed into a beautiful and charming woman. Kosuke immediately falls in love with her and she is returning his feelings. It doesn’t take long and they already decide to get married. However, Mao is keeping one big unbelievable secret to herself…

That's what I mean.

Matsumoto's comment after read both the novel and the script, “I immediately wanted to get this role. It’s not just the romance between the two that’s interesting, but the whole world view and the story in itself.” He expressed about Ueno and Miki, “Together with Ueno-san, I would like to send out this affectionate and warm fantasy. I already watched Director Miki’s works before I got casted for this role and I’m really happy that we get to work together this time.”

Meanwhile,“I’m really happy, since it has been three years since my last movie. It’s a really heart-warming and soothing story and I’ll work my hardest to let the viewers feel the same way", said Ueno. She also talked about Matsumoto, “Acting, singing, variety shows. He’s talented in so many ways and I really can’t wait to work together with him.”

And for the director himself, he said, “It’s about a certain kind of feeling that is too pure and too honest to just be called love. I was touched that the feeling of loving someone earnestly. I’d like to perfectly create the atmosphere of a sunny spot (hidamari) with those two lovely actors.”

It has been five years since Matsumoto and three years since Ueno has appeared in a movie. So like I said, this one is better be good cause I love both the actor and actress. I personally like Japanese love story genre, but if you had no something strong, thatd be plain and boring. Even though they have outstanding casts.

‘Hidamari no Kanojo’ is planed to begin filming next January 2013 and to hit cinemas in October by the same year.

Stils And Behind The Scene of School 2013

2012-12-04T17:00:00.000+07:00

KBS’s new series School 2013 is coming through, with Oohlala Spouses as Monday-Tuesday slot are ending.

The drama focuses on a class of second-years in high school (so, the equivalent of junior year) and is underscoring its sense of “fierce realism.” Definitely lots of emotion and moments of growth there. It also has the potential to sensitive today student's issues like bullying, violence, suicide, and so forth. According to the PD, they’re fighting for the absolute realism with the real-life high school experience, and have populated their cast with a varied mix of students.

It’s got two writers and two directors on its team. The writers mostly have Drama Specials on their resumés, as well as MBC’s 2011 Late Night Hospital; between them the two PDs have Dream High, Hometown of Legends, Hello Miss, Reputable Family, Delightful Girl Chun-hyang, Sangdoo Let’s Go to School, and the original 1999 School on their collective record.

It's Lee Jong-seok, an ordinary guy with no ambitions whose aspires for a peaceful life get hampered with unexpected events. There’s Kim Woo-bin as the troubled transfer student, and Park Se-young as the model student who doesn’t really have her own goals. Lee Jong-seok said, “My character could be similar to Jang Hyuk sunbae-nim’s character, but our images are different and I’m trying to express the role a little differently.”

A key point in the series will be the relationships between the students and the adults, and Jang Nara and Daniel Choi played a teacher role. These teachers struggle to keep their classes in line, portraying a reality of modern schools where the teachers have lost a lot of their former authority. Should make for some interesting conflict between the kids and the adults. I cant wait to watch the pilot.

School 2013 premieres this Monday on KBS.

Jang Geun Seok Is Just Crazy. Literally

2012-12-04T16:00:00.000+07:00

Having an affection towards and idol fashionista, sometimes I take the rest just as rather handsome or dandy guy kinda idol. But Jang Geun Seok has awalyas surprises me in the terms of look. He's a cute guy and in his newest album concept, once again he proves that I really don't know what goes in his head.

I can't figure out why this concept.

In his literally just crazy album, he is wacky. Look what's going on with his hat. Doesn't it reminds you to Johnny Depp's character Willy Wonka? While he chose a bob-style hair, Jang Geun Seok seems to find (occurs to him) with a curly one. Not to mention that fury thingy all over his body even his mic will ditracts you.

Did I alreday said that the album caaled Just Crazy? Okay, well.. his ability to leave me speechless is..unparallelled.

And to make it more exclusively, and amazingly, the album is sold out.

Broadcast Time For IRIS 2

2012-11-21T13:15:00.002+07:00

Here's a perky first promo images from spy action sequel IRIS 2. The image look pretty dashing with the casts doing their action poses at its best style.

And for this second season, they'll be headed to some foreign countries such as Hungary, Cambodia and Japan before comeback to Korea. Tho I'm not really a fan of action kdrama (I always enjoy the mello or rom-com kinda genre), for this new lineup I personally prefer the choice of the cast.

Aside from my Jang Hyuk biased thing, Lee Da Hae and gorgeous Oh Yeon Soo catch my interest. The last woman I mentioned plays as the new leader of Team NSS. She's awesome and kinda bossy boss. Meanwhile, Jang Hyuk, Lee Da Hae and Yoon Doo Joon will be the lead field agents and primary triangle love. It's a reunion for our main two leads (before they're work together in Chuno). And for North Korean side, Lee Beom Soo will be joining Kim Sang Woo. Kim Young-chul reprises his role as Baek San, as part of the baddie organization IRIS, and Im Soo-hyang plays an IRIS assassin. The setting take three years after the end of IRIS.

The drama will broadcast on KBS and take the Wednesday-Thursday slot following Jeon Woo Chi that premiers this week. It means IRIS 2 premieres February 13, 2013 on KBS.

[JPop] OST Piece - YUMA (Mini Album) Missing Piece

2012-11-05T10:31:00.001+07:00

For a rookie guy in dramaland, Yuma was quite good. His acting skills is promising. So is when he's singing. The mini album for Piece original soundtrack titled Missing Piece. A simple song but has this catchy feeling to me. The album contain one title but with rich version of it. The original, the instrumen, the strings, the piano, and the another versions. So much for just one piece. Or missing piece :)

The drama itself is interesting, I've been watching since its premiere. A manga-adapted dorama about a girl who have to look back to the past in order to get the meaning of her life, her relationship, friendship, meet many people again and as they pick up various pieces of love, they get close to the true face of the unseen person. It airs every Saturday 24.55 on NTV.

2012-10-24T14:14:00.001+07:00

The first poster is out for the new romantic comedy movie starring Ji Sung and Kim Ah-joong, called My P.S. Partner, and it looks like a fun and sexy romp. The P.S. stands for phone sex cause that's how they initially know each other. Awkward, but the poster is so sexy. It looks like a fun and cheerful rom-com movie.

Ji Sung stars as a guy who still pining endlessly after his ex-girlfriend. To make it even worse, he hears that she’s got a handsome new man in her life, and basically becomes a big sleepless, lonely mess. One sleepless night, he gets a strange phone call…

She decides to do something drastic to get his attention, and so she screws up the nerve to try phone sex for the first time. Drooling's Over Joo Won For Arena

Joo Won always make me feel like I'm dealing with confusion, sometimes he can act manly, but then second his agyeo is all over him. That's why I love it (I still remember how his acting make my heart goes up and down, laugh and tears, this guy just..ugh).

And now his hotness once again captivating me. It's his photo shoot for Arena Homme Plus Magazine. He doing an interview about his fashion sense and also his upcoming new drama series.

While doing so, he admits to not really paying much attention to fashions. He has read comments online about how he’s perhaps not a good dresser since he’s seen wearing lots of casualwear and sweats and said, "If I start thinking about styling and everything, I feel like my head will burst." Aw cute, of course it will be the coordi-noonas duty.

Joo-won was also asked about his pattern of picking intense characters. He says he’s “currently in the process of leaving the role of (Gaksital's) Lee Kang-to behind for my next project,” which is Secret Agent War. A rom-com series about secret agent where the main couple have a Mr. and Mrs. Smith-like exchange of hiding their spy identities from each other.

Secret Agent War aims to premiere in January 2013. Joo-won’s interview and photo spread for Arena will be in its November issue.

Jo In Sung and Song Hye Gyo To Headline New Melodrama

2012-10-01T13:53:00.001+07:00

It is confirmed that Jo In Sung and Song Hye Gyo will be couple in their next new drama project titles That Winter, The wind Blows.

It’s a conventional melodrama about “a man and woman who don’t believe in love.” The story is based on the Japanese drama I Don’t Need Love, Summer / Ai Nante Irane Yo, Natsu, adapted once already into a film starring Moon Geun-young and Kim Joo-hyuk in 2006, called I Don’t Need Love. The heroine is blind and the hero is a rich playboy, who for some reason takes on this huge con pretending to be her brother. They’re both bitter and jaded when it comes to love, but they slowly start to change, until the sibling-not-a-sibling part complicates matters. By the look of it, there will be no happy and a lotsa tears going to involve.

I have to see the pilot to know whether I will be stick to this kind of melodrama. For I have not watch this kind of drama like a long time ago, this should be good to take up my mood.

Though there's no word yet on when it premiers, it’ll be on KBS’s 2013 slate. That Winter, The Wind Blows enters production in October and plans for a 2013 broadcast.

2012-09-27T09:40:00.005+07:00

Sometimes I saw this man as a feminist, and very different back then. But how I love this hair style like he doing the photoshoot for Common & Sense Issue 13 "Onko Chishin". A dandy and ellegant man with sleeky blonder hair. Make him more sexy as a leader of BIG BANG?

Okay, here are photos of G Dragon for the magazine next issue that will release on Sept 27th.
