Rajkumar Hirani decides to casts Aamir Khan as Munna Bhai?

Trustworthy sources inform us that Rajkumar Hirani has decided to embrace the biggest challenge of his career. Reportedly, the director of ‘Munnabhai Mbbs’, ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’ and ‘3 Idiots’ has decided to cast Aamir Khan as Munna and Sharman Joshi as Circuit, in place of Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi, respectively, for his new film ‘Munnabhai Chale Amreeka’.

The news was received with shock and astonishment by the loyal fans of the Munnabhai franchise.

Aamir Khan, who never reacts to gossip, did clarify on this issue to this writer, before leaving for the U.S. "I am shocked. I wish to clarify that there's not an iota of truth to it. Yes, I would love to work with Rajkumar Hirani again and again, since I enjoyed working with him in ‘3 Idiots’, but the truth is we haven't discussed any new project yet," Aamir tells me.

But didn't he express his willingness to portray Munnabhai when he heard the one-line story of ‘Munnabhai Chale Amreeka’? "That's completely untrue! I have no clue what it's all about, nor has Raju [Hirani] narrated me its one-liner. I distinctly recall, I hugged Sanju after I watched ‘Munnabhai Mbbs’. He was incredible in that film. When I think of Munna, I can't think of anyone except Sanju. For me, Sanju is Munna," Aamir states.

Meanwhile, Aamir has clarified that he hasn't signed any new film yet. What about Anurag Kashyap's next film? "I haven't signed any film. Not Anurag's film either. Right now, I would like to focus on my three home-productions before I start shooting any film. ‘Peepli Live’ will arrive first, followed by ‘Delhi Belly’ and then Kiran's ‘Dhobi Ghaat’, which stars Prateek Babbar and me. This film would release towards the end of the year. But I plan to listen to new scripts after three months," Aamir sets the record straight.

Imran gifts Volkswagen Beetle to fiancée Avantika

Mumbai, January 16 -- A red color Volkswagen Beetle has been gifted by Bollywood actor Imran Khan as an engagement gift to his long-time sweetheart, Avantika Malik.

"Imran gifted her a red Beetle as her engagement present. He got the car from Europe and was at it for a month and a half," a source close to the actor said.

The ring ceremony will be taking place at Avantika’s family farmhouse in Kajrat outside Mumbai on Saturday night.

The couple has been dating for five years and was first spotted together at the premier of Imran’s debut film ‘Jaane Tu….Ya Jaane Na’ in 2008.

Engagement will be simple and low-key affair for only close family and friends
Everything about the engagement ceremony has been kept under the wraps since Imran and Avantika want the ceremony to be simple and low-key affair.

Imran said, “I don’t want my engagement to be a tamasha. We have invited 300 guests, mostly family and close friends. We wanted to keep it personal.”

Imran also revealed the guest list, “Aamir Khan will be there with wife Kiran, so will Mansoor (Imran’s uncle) and family.”

Karan Johar will be attending the engagement ceremony, but surprisingly Imran’s best-buddy Ranbir Kapoor is missing from the list.

On that, Imran said, “I have invited Karan (Johar), but no matter what media reports, I have not invited actors to the engagement. So Ranbir is not on the guest list.”

Deepika and Imran in "Break Ke Baad "

Right after Deepika Padukone's breakup with Ranbir Kapoor, the actress is coincidentally doing a film titled Break Ke Baad with Imran Khan.

That's what Kunal Kohli has chosen to call the first film that he is producing and not directing.

Says Kunal: "I and director Danish Aslam always wanted to call his film Break Ke Baad because it's about a couple played by Imran and Deepika who breakup and want to come back together. But since we didn't have the rights to the title, we didn't want to announce it officially."

Kunal and his team couldn't locate the legal owners of the title anywhere in Mumbai. "We finally tracked it down to Bangalore to a 60-year-old gentleman who deals in electrical goods. He owns a company called Seva Films. Break Ke Baad is one of the titles he had registered."

"He loved our idea and gladly parted with the title. Just like Break Ke Baad, while writing Hum Tum I wanted my film to be called only that. Milind Soman had that title. I called him for it and finally he sold it to us for Rs.1.5 lakh," he added.

However, he said, getting permission to shoot in Delhi was far more difficult. "So many recent films have been shot in Delhi. Now the rules for shooting in the Capital have changed. I could write a thesis on what I've gone through to get permission to shoot in Delhi."

Kunal's problems as a producer don't end there. He has been denied permission to shoot in Australia's Gold Coast. "So we'll have to shoot in Cape Twon and fudge the Gold Coast."

Break Ke Baad is set in Delhi and Australia.

Out of all different movie promotion ideas, this one seems new. Bollywood actors Shahid Kapoor and Genelia D'Souza will be spending Wednesday night together in a car here to promote their forthcoming film Chance Pe Dance.
"Shahid and Genelia will be spending a full night in a small car at the Kamalistan Studios today. There will be vada pao (bun) vendors and khatiyas (string cot) nearby for the people. We want to make this the most talked about promotional activity in Bollywood and it's being done on a major scale," a source from the film unit told IANS.
In the film, Shahid plays a struggler who comes to Mumbai to make it big in the movies. According to the source, the activity was planned as it bears semblance with the lives of those who come here to try their luck and also because a scene in the movie depicts it.
"This activity has similarities with our movie. In fact in his own days of struggle, Shahid used to sleep in a car many times. In the movie also, there's a scene where these strugglers have to spend nights altogether, because they have no place to stay," added the source.
The activity will continue till Thursday morning and those who will be present there will be able to share tea and bun maska (bun and butter) with the stars. It will be served at 6 a.m.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan now gets relief. Remembering the dog named Shah Rukh,has moved out of Aamirâ€™s Panchgani bungalow because his master, Aamirâ€™s caretaker, moved out, taking his dog with him.The dog Shah Rukh had played a big role in widening the rift between the two Khans.

After Aamir Khan had written on his blog, â€œShah Rukh is licking my feet and I am feeding him biscuits every now and then. What more can I ask for?â€ and â€œShah Rukh is smelling too much, I think he needs a bath,â€ the already hot competition between the two had been further fuelled.

Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan were battling it out for supremacy at the box-office this sort of banter had only made them more competitive. Evidently, after a while Aamir & Co had changed the dogâ€™s name. After calling him Shah Rukh for sometime, they had started calling him Shahki.

There is an explanation for the dogâ€™s name too. Said the source, â€œThe old caretaker is a big fan of Shah Rukh Khan. Since Shah Rukh was shooting in Panchgani when the dog was born, he had named him Shah Rukh. Kareena Kapoor plays a very strong role in '3 idiots'. As she puts it succinctly, it is dynamically different from what she had played in “Kurbaan’.

“I play the role of Piya, a headstrong girl, who trains to be a doctor. In fact, I’d go even to the extent of stating that Piya of “3 idiots’ is more real than even Geet of “Jab We Met’ and when you set out to watch Piya in “3 idiots’ you will even forget that it is Kareena Kapoor that you are watching on the screen. The father-daughter relationship in “3 idiots’ is seen to be believed. Boman Irani plays my father.”

Kareena admits that she has not read the book “Five Point Someone’ written by Chetan Bhagat. “In any case, though Vidhu Vinod Chopra has officially bought the right to the book, Raju has written quite a different script for the film and “3 idiots’ is not entirely based on the book but a take off from that in Raju Hirani style. Yes. The basic premise has of course been maintained but the characters, the situations and the end are quite different. In fact, there is just a five per cent similarity between the book and what you see on the screen”.

According to Kareena, the campus and the classroom setting for “3 idiots’ are the only things that remain true to the book and everything else is entirely different, because the film has a very original plot, which is inspired from the book and not based on the book.

Kareena adds, “What is interesting about “3 idiots’ is that I am the only girl in the film though there are three boys- Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and R. Madhavan. “3 idiots’ is like “Inglourious Basterds’ or for that matter “The Bell’. Every actor wants to be a part of good cinema. I do not think that a film like “3 idiots’, in which Aamir Khan and Raju Hirani are together, is something which one can get to see every now and then because it is a very rare film and I am happy that I am a part of it”.

Kareena says that she met Aamir for the first time when she went with Karisma to the location shooting of “Raja Hindustani’. “What can I possibly say about an actor like Aamir? Aamir is a cinematic genius and a one man University as far as acting is concerned. I feel that every actor’s journey is incomplete without working with an actor of the caliber of Aamir Khan. Aamir Khan is the emperor of Bollywood and without any hesitation, I would even go to the extent of stating that “3 idiots’ is a milestone in my career as an actress”.

Kareena feels that like “Kurbaan’, “3 idiots’ also will definitely change the face of Indian Cinema to a large extent, because both “Kurbaan’ and “3 idiots’ have soul in them.

“Unlike “Kurbaan’ where the character of Avantika that I played had to relate to her pain in a subdued way, since it was very subtle, Piya of “3 idiots’ is dynamically different”, Kareena quips, as a matter of fact.

Kareena also gushes about her director Rajkumar Hirani. “Raju is such a great man. He is even a greater writer and director. After my grand father who used to show simplicity in all his films it is now only Raju Hirani who is somewhere nearer his league. There’s a smile and tear when Raju sets out to tell his story. I feel blessed and lucky that I have had good directors all through my career, whether it be Imtiaz Ali in “Jab We Met’ or Rensil D’Silva in “Kurbaan’ or for that matter Raju Hirani in “3 idiots’. I am now quite excited to be working with Kajol in Karan Johar’s next film directed by Siddharth Malhotra, which is an official remake of “Stepmom’ with Arjun Rampal.”

According to Kareena, the five best films of her career are “Refugee’, “Chameli’, “Omkara’, “Jab We Met’ and last but not the least “Kurbaan’.

“I am happy with whatever growth that I have achieved over the years in the film industry from the time that I had made my debut as an actress with “Refugee’ but I have always felt that I should keep on growing more and more. We actors are like scientists, who keep on working with different experiments. Some experiments work while some do not. Some times I do a film for the sake of emotion or relationship like I did “Main Aurr Mrs Khanna’ but I do not regret a decision of mine even if the film flops, like “Main Aurr Mrs Khanna’ or for that matter “Kurbaan’ did.”

MUMBAI: Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra has revealed that much-awaited film "3 Idiots", releasing Friday, will be the first Bollywood film viewers

can download legally.

"This is the first film ever that you can actually download and watch on YouTube after 12 weeks from now," said Chopra.

He said that he planned to release the film on YouTube for those who can't afford multiplexes.

"I'm providing this facility for those who can't see it on big screen and watch pirated movies. I just want them to discourage pirated prints. They just need to wait for 12 weeks and after that they can legally download the movie and watch it," said Chopra.

"Tomorrow if there is a facility to watch movies on mobile phones, the film will be available there but in appropriate time. We can't harm our theatrical business by releasing at DTH," he added.

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film stars Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Sharman Joshi and Madhavan.

Bhakhtiyaar accepts Rs 10 lakh, leaves Bigg Boss

Television actor Bhakhtiyaar Irani has taken voluntary exit from the Bigg Boss house on Monday and accepted Rs 10 lakh in return.

The finalists - Bhakhtiyaar, Pravesh Rana, Poonam Dhillon and Vindu Dara Singh - were given an option to either stay on in the house and wait for the final day when the winner would be announced or take Rs 10 lakh and leave the house.

Bhaktiyaar, who has earlier been part of shows like Nach Baliye and Hans Baliye, decided to take the cash option and leave the show.

"There was a bag full of money on the table. I had two options. Either to be one of the winners or to be one of the people clapping for the winner. I didn't want to be the latter. I evalued the pros and cons and decided this was better," the actor told IANS.

Bhaktiyaar, who had entered the show on October 4 with his wife Tanaaz Currim, had various ups and downs during his stay in the house. The actor was often seen breaking down, especially when his wife was evicted from the show by public voting.

He was mainly seen being friendly with fellow participant and former Mrs World Aditi Govitrikar.

Bigg Boss airs on entertainment channel Colors and has various celebrities locked inside a house without any connection with the outside world.

It may be recalled that Milenge Milenge, directed by Satish Kaushik, has been in the making since 2004. It failed to see the light of day in spite of several attempts to release it in the subsequent years due to financial and casting problem.

Recently Aishwarya Rai’s past has put her in awkward situations. First it was a chance meeting with ex- boyfriend Salman Khan on December 17, and now its her boyfriend Vivek Oberoi .She bumped into Vivek Oberoi on Saturday at 'Jashn 2010-Dhamaka Bollywood Ka',a Mumbai police event.

After Vivek entered the venue, he was shocked to see the seating arrangement. The LCD screen which was placed at the entrance showed that his seat was right next to Aishwarya’s. Sources present at the event said that Vivek was shocked that he had to sit next to Aishwarya. He simply refused to enter the function. It was the organizers who tried hard and somehow managed to convince him to sit exactly where they wanted.

Sources said that there was space for one person between Ash and Vivek. Asin was sitting there seconds before Vivek. Bu then she later went to perform on stage.

As soon as Vivek sat down, Ash took a sneak-peek at him. An eye-witness said that Ash became very restless and began fidgeting. Vivek could sense her discomfort. He suddenly turned and looked at her. To help matters, designer Manish Malhotra who was standing nearby, came rushing in and sat between the two. Sensing the vibes, Vivek left his place in a few minutes and went away.

Nude scene forces Urvashi to walk out

Compromise. That's the much used and abused word, especially when it comes to the entertainment world. More so when this world happens to Bollywood. A compromise could be presented in different ways and forms. It could be monetary, physical, mental or even psychological. In an industry where glamour sells, any form of compromise becomes even more visible, pertinent and perhaps even a bare minimum criterion for a step ahead in the career. Quite a few aspiring actors may fall in this trap, a few may agree to tread the path with their eyes open, some may remain oblivious to this while a select few may dare to say no. Urvashi Sharma belongs to the last category.

Buzz up!
The story doesn't belong to the primitive times. In fact it dates back just a month ago when things had actually started heating up for better in Urvashi's career. A couple of years after Abbas Mustan directed Naqaab, where the fair lady was noticed for her author backed role and performance, she went onto do a small but meaningful role in hard hitting Baabarr. She made her presence felt and as she awaited big banners to knock on her doors, she soon crossed over a few seas to see a British project landing in her lap.

The film was called The Bounty Hunter and it seemed like a perfect new beginning for Urvashi Sharma, who was also signed by Priyadarshan for a couple of films back home. She went gaga over the prospects of doing an English language film that boasted of a cast from across the continents. A big league pretty much seemed to be in the offering for the young woman who till then was enjoying her professional standing of being an established model for long and a face of 'hazaar' commercials.

However, this proved to be a dream that wasn't destined to be fulfilled. Just when she was about to sign on the dotted line, she was informed about a 'core requirement' in the film's narrative. She was asked to do a nude scene for the film, a compromise that she was certainly not willing to make for any movie, whether Bollywood, British or Hollywood. She reasoned with the makers (Endboard Productions) and argued if this scene was really that crucial for her to enact on camera. However, the production people and director Sunandan Walia had their own take on affairs. The leading lady in the film was required to go nude and there were no second thoughts.

The situation pretty much reached a roadblock with none of the two parties willing to compromise. Urvashi Sharma, with her Indian ethics intact, was quite sure that she wasn't willing to give in to the situation, regardless of the project promising to bring her up to an international platform. On the other hand, Endboard Productions felt that Urvashi's stand was unreasonable.

Also, they promised that the shoot would be done aesthetically. However, Urvashi being a newcomer in the industry was of course apprehensive about the entire affair. She chose to steer clear from this film without regretting her decision at a later stage. Even if this meant letting go off a plum acting opportunity in a film which is being funded by U.K. Film Council, she was unwilling to get into this compromise that could have had severe repercussions in her career.

After a period of ecstasy followed by mental turmoil, she finally decided to let the project go away once for and all and instead started concentrating on her Bollywood career. She was sure that after all the appreciation she gained from Naqaab and Baabarr, it was a matter of time before filmmakers started taking note of her presence in the industry. This may perhaps require some more wait but at least that would be on her terms rather than someone else's. She informed Endboard Productions about an end in their association and finally heaved a sigh of relief.

Zoya Akhtar, who earlier this year made an impressive debut with Luck By Chance, is all set to start her second directorial venture Running With The Bulls (working title). While her first film had quite a few bigwigs of Bollywood make a fleeting appearance, her second film too has quite a stellar cast. Running With The Bulls stars Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol in lead roles making it an extremely interesting casting coup of sorts. Shooting for the film begins in January 2010 at various locations such as Greece, Turkey, Thailand, UK and India. Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under their banner Excel Entertainment, the film will have lyrics by Javed Akhtar. Other crew members include Carlos Catalan as the DOP, Suzanne Caplan Merwanji as the Production Designer, Nandini Shrikent as the Casting Director and Arjun Bhasin as the Costume Designer. The film is expected to release in December 2010.

Looking at him one can hardly make out that he will touch 44 next year. Yet the man is ageing just as you and I. So how does Aamir Khan manage to wear that super effective camouflage over and over again, right from the days of ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ to the upcoming ‘Three Idiots’, so he passes off seamlessly as a youthful stripling?

For all those who attribute Aamir’s ability to retain his youthful charm despite his forty something years, to taking lots of fresh fruits and Yoga, you might be in for a surprise! What’s more surprising is that even at this age, the man successfully manages to set fashion trends through his movies, which later catches on with the youth and becomes a fashion rage. Be it the ‘Goatee’ of Aakash from ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ or the ‘Mohawk’ of. Nikumbh from ‘Tare Zameen Par’ or his latest youthful avatar in ‘Three Idiots’ the man never tires of acting different.

Katrina down with jaundice

Katrina has joined the list of Bollywood babes whose health have taken a toll due to their hectic schedules. First, it was Priyanka who burned out herself from back to back shooting & promotion of "Kaminey" & "Whats your Rashee" .
The second entry was our bubbly Ghajni girl Asin who fainted in a press confrence.
And the third but the most affected is our Katrina. She has lately been very busy with promotion of "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani" & shooting of "Rajnati". It was when she was gearing up for the promotin of De Dana Dan that her health gave out. Looks like De Dana Dan just won't get Katrina's attention.
The actress had been feeling queasy and weak for quite a few days but she kept ignoring the warning signals because of her hectic schedule. She was testing her limits until Sunday morning, when she couldn't drag herself out of bed.
"That's when Katrina realised something was seriously wrong. She was taken to the doctor who performed a series of tests on her. It was found that her hemoglobin count had gone down drastically," says a close friend of Katrina.
On Monday evening, Katrina was seen in a suburban hospital looking pale and weak. She was in the hospital for about five hours. Finally, on Tuesday afternoon she was diagnosed with jaundice.
Katrina has been forbidden to even move out of bed. She has been advised complete bed rest for about a month. But Katrina insists on getting back up & moving much sooner because of her professional commitments.
Katrina's business manager said, "She's trying to rest so that she can fulfill her commitments as soon as possible. The doctor has advised her complete bed rest.”
Katrina have you heard of a phrase "stich in time saves nine"? A month is still affordable, what if your health takes a turn for worse & you have to be in bed for 6 months.
