I originally posted this on one of my TLD's but I figured it was a great fit for this blog, seeing as the topic is really kinda about stupid human tricks. The internet is a wonderful thing and I am a firm believer in its' ability to provide a steady stream of income to those astute enough to find a niche and jump on it. A prime example is the booming popularity of social networking and the basic human desire to socialise and make friends, find love, and or get laid. Yes, sex sells, especially on the Internet. The newest online boom is the App Market. With almost every household having one to five cellphones between family members, and kids becoming more technoreliant, App's have become the new hot topic at the office cooler, Move over Britney Spears and Justina Bieber, there is a new pop idol in town and it is called the App Market. So how can one make money in the App Market you ask. Well, there are basically a few ways you can cash in. First of all, you need to develop an app or find a programmer to develop one for you. At that point, you can either sell the App for money, or you can place Pay per view or pay per click ads within the app itself. Some App companies have released both paid and non-paid versions of App's, these are also referred to as Lite and Full. In some cases, the Lite versions of the App are scaled down or castrated versions of the full blown App, while in others, the Lite version of the App is subsidized by mini ad banners or sale of consumer information. On the topic of consumer information, many retailers and service businesses alike offer App's which provide an effective means of delivering timely information to their clientèle. The Media also uses the App Market to take advantage of the Internet as the new and upcoming Media delivery stream. So now onto the whole reason for this article. For centuries, there have been less than reputable individuals who thrive on taking advantage of another basic human desire.... The desire to be successful and Wealthy. About 11 or 12 years ago, there was a company, and I cannot remember their name, who made their money enticing individuals to join their group for a monthly fee. In exchange for this fee, they would get a space on this great new technology called the Internet. These Donald Trump wannabe's would then entice their friends and associates to join in on this wonderful new technology that would be sure to make them rich. These friends and associates would also pay a monthly fee and in exchange for helping scam their friends and associates, the referring “friend” would get a kick-back. If all went well, everyone would continue paying the monthly fee for this “valuble space in the new frontier we call the World Wide Web and, of course, invite all their friends to join in on this “Amazing free money extravaganza.” In legal terms, this practice sounds alot like a pyramid scheme, the thing is, the company did provide the Internet Dreamers with a web page, so technically, it was not a true pyramid scheme. The thing is, this web “property” was highly overvalued and really provided no real long term avenue for profit. Now enter February 1st, 2013. I am sitting in the Whistler White Spot waiting for my dinner to arrive after a long day of work. As I waited, I decided to surf the web on my Iphone, after all, this is the new media source and delivery machine for the App Market. So as I'm looking through my Email I stumble across an Email from a client of mine with the subject line “Money oppertunity” Yes, spelled exactly like that :) The Email went on to say “Hey I just hooked up this neat app program which lets you make money. Go to my web page. Ilivingapp.com/..(his $10 nik name) I think it might be a gold mine just waiting for it to go VIRAL. You would be great with all your connections. I will call you later.” My initial thought was, crap, his Email has been hacked. Looking further into the nikname, I realized this poor soul had been taken by some “low life scammers” (IMO) taking advantage of the less than technical individuals wanting to jump on the App Bandwagon. Of course my curiosity did get the best of me and I wanted to know how this new Internet App market based “scam” worked. A quick google search on “Iliving App” brought up a whole slough of responses, the first page of which was filled with glorious testimonials of how ILiving App had brought individuals mass amounts of money. There was even one article which looked real enough, it touted one of the founders of Iliving App as being a “Great Graphic Designer”, as if that is the root of the success of all Internet businesses. The article further went on to say how one did not need to pay for the Iliving App, they simply needed to sign up under his “Team.” Yes, another wonderful marketing term which joins “Associate”, “Team Leader”, “Be Your Own Boss”, and my favorite, “Get Rich Quick” in the anals of shyster vernacular. So what is ILiving App you ask? And how will ILiving App make you money? Well, the short answer is, ILiving App will Not make you a Millionaire unless you are willing to convince all your friends to spend their hard earned money on the Iliving App, which for all intents and purposes, is as useless and valueless as the aforementioned website of 10 or 11 years ago. IMO From what I understand by looking through the Iliving App website, the Iliving App program consists of an ILiving “App” that does nothing more that provide the “owner” (Sucker) with access to weekly video streams, as well as an archive of said streams. Without actually watching the streams or paying for the useless Iliving App, my best guess is these video streams are nothing more than Hype and “brain washing” sales pitches geared at convincing these wannabe App Market Tycoons to “help” their friends and Associates join in on this “Wonderful Iliving App opportunity” (Scam, IMO) So for those of you still dreaming about the “riches” the Iliving App program will bring you, here is a break down of how I see the Iliving App and the Iliving App program. 1 – Person A pays for the Iliving App 2 – Iliving App collects $ 10.00 3 – Person A has friend Join 4 Iliving App gets $$$ 5 Prsn A “earns $” 6 P-A pays Iliving App Notice a pattern above, it is a pyramid, although I kinda changed the angle to illustrate how all the money ends up flowing to the wonderful folks over at Iliving App. Yes, Person A does get some sort of generic landing page of a “website” to sell Iliving App from and talk about how their Iliving App “Team” is the best team to join. Rah Rah!!! but how does this splash page compare to a website you can get for about $5 or less per month through this link? Own YOUR OWN .com Website for only $ 4.95 per month Well first of all, with the link above, you actually own the entire website, with Iliving App, you only get a page on the Iliving App website, along with everyone else who paid their $10 to join Iliving App. So let's review this again. At Iliving App, $10 per month gets you a generic page on a website, not much unlike the Own YOUR OWN .com Website for only $ 4.95 per month offer. This Iliving App “website” is not yours and will be taken away the moment you realise you are spending more money on monthly fee's than you can ever possibly make before you run out of friends. After all, who really wants to hang out with someone who keeps trying to talk them into spending far too much money for something that, to me, seems intangible? Yes, Friendless and poor, that is the ticket to success and endless riches, thank you Iliving App, but I would much rather spend my money on food and make my money by providing honest online information to those seeking it. Congratulations Vancouver, we are now the centre of worldwide media attention. Not for the beautiful scenery, the wildlife, the great weather we've been having or even for how our economy is still managing to do well alongside what is now a global financial crisis. Yes, the real estate market is still nuts but houses are still being built and people are still working. All that aside, none of those are why Vancouver, BC Canada is at the top of Internet searches all over the world. So much are we in demand, there is a Facebook group looking for pictures of the on-goings in Vancouver last night. So why all this hype? Well, in case you didn't know.

Aside from being one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Vancouver is also home to some of the dumbest a$5h0les in the world. You know, those professional protestors. Losers and hooligans with nothing better to do than to search for things to protest about and incite violence. Yes, I am talking about the Stanley Cup Riots. Now don't get confused, I know Stanley Cup Riots happened back in 1994 after a Canucks win. There have also been riots and vandalism throughout the Vancouver area as a result of many things including the 2010 Olympics, housing issues, and various other topics which apparently justify violence in the minds of the pea brained unemployed 5h!t for brains looser professional protestor crowds.

So what was the reason for the latest Riot in Vancouver? Why is the world media plastered with pictures of burning cards and broken windows in Downtown Vancouver? Well, you see, there is this thing called the Stanley Cup. Apparently, not winning the Stanley cup, or in the case of 1994, almost winning the Stanley Cup is cause for violence. Oh my god, the tragedy in the world when the Vancouver Canucks loose a game. This is awful, lets flip over some cars and set them on fire.

Come on people, get a fvck!ng clue. IT IS A GAME. There are plenty of other things happening in the world. People are starving, governments are suppressing their citizens. The biggest concern in Vancouver right now, well aside from housing prices, is the length of the Starbucks line-up or maybe traffic. Not that many of these loosers and bums who rioted are concerned about housing prices or traffic.

Honestly, I really don't know what to say about the Stanley Cup Riots in Vancouver or all those pictures of burning cars and Broken Windows plastering the world wide media. I don't understand the mentality of those losers involved in the 2011 Stanley Cup Riots of Vancouver. This does not mean I am at all surprised there was a Riot after Vancouver lost the Stanley Cup to Boston last night. After all, this is Vancouver, the protest and idiot capital of the world. Oh ya, I'm a proud Canadian today. Fvck!ing A$$h0les!!!

The "C" Word - Is Christmas Lost

There seems to have been a recent resurgence, of sorts, in this whole Christmas vs winter holiday debate. Ya know the one where society all of a sudden lost their balls (Christmas balls of course.)

The politically correct wearers of broom handles (Up their asses) managed to convince the rest of us that wishing someone who was Jewish, Sikh, Hindu, Jehovah Witness African etc was both racially and culturally insensitive. So, being the kind fence sitting Canadians we are, we happily obliged and put our cultural beliefs on the back burner.

Now schools no longer have Christmas decorations. If they do put up a tree, it is now called a "Winter Holiday Tree", or something equally as gay. The month of December in most Calendars now has mention of every religious holiday on the planet... Except Christmas. Businesses send out "Seasons Greetings cards" Because certain sales trainers and business advisers have told us mentioning Christmas to someone who did not celebrate it was, once again, culturally insensitive. Even I was caught in that trap, often pondering the religion of a customer and Googling their last name to see what culture it "belonged to", prior to filling out what was to be a "Christmas Card."

So what about "Our" Culture? Are we missing something here?

A recent newspaper comment kinda brought it home for me. The front page read "HOW DARE YOU DISCRIMINATE AGAINST CHRISTMAS!" Letter to Editor: Student fed up with school's unwillingness to use the "C" word".

Has it really gotten that bad? Has the word "Christmas" moved on par with words like "Shit Piss Fuck Cunt (or Kunt) Cocksucker Motherfucker and Tits?" If George Carlin were alive today, would he now have to add Christmas to his original and always growing list of "Seven words you cannot say on television"?

The letter was a very well written commentary by a North Delta grade 11 student named Chelsea Phelps. In her letter, Chelsea talks about a number of religious based cultural celebrations which have become accepted and celebrated in North American culture. Among these, Eid (a Muslim tradition) and Diwali (a Sikh and Hindu tradition.) Very wisely, Chelsea did not attack those holidays, she simply asked

"Why are we allowed to have a Christmas Tree in the Foyer of our school but the board can't post a simple message of 'Merry Christmas?'"

Personally, I believe we lost something in our search for cultural sensitivity, religious tolerance, equality, diversity or whatever shit you want to call it. Personally, I call it "Political Correctness gone awry"

At the end of her letter to the Editor, Chelsea Phelps of North Delta wrote

"I am not trying to start a war or create a struggle. I would appreciate it if we did not discriminate against anyone's traditions or beliefs, including mine."

Very well put, Chelsea, you have a great future ahead of you.

Oh ya, and Merry Christmas to you.

Buzz Words... MMMMM Yummy

It seems the new marketing buzzword of the decade is "Pro-Activ" or various forms of it such as "Pro Activ" etc. So what does Pro Activ mean? Well, in a nutshell, without the "e" at the end, absolutely nothing.
It first started with Yogurt companies vying for the weight loss market by taking the Active part of the central part of all yogurt "Active Bacteria" and combining it with the other part "Probiotics" and they created their own word "Pro Activ" Of course, this bears a striking resemblance to the word Proactive which implies taking control. So the thought process must be, by taking ProActiv, you are taking a Proactive approach to your health. Brilliant.
Of course there are many manufacturers of Yogurt and everyone started using the term Probiotic to describe their yogurt. Simply look at the yogurt labels next time you are at the grocery store and you will see what I mean. All these names and numbers leave one wondering what is the best Probiotic. Well, there is no simple answer to what the best probiotic yogurt or the best probiotic supplement is. Fact of the matter, all yogurts consist of Proactive bacterial cultures and one would assume each one acts differently. The most known of these active bacterial cultures is acidophilus bifidium.
Personally, I have gone the route of buying several versions of unflavored probiotic yogurt and created my own "super probiotic yogurt" Of course, this would not work on a commercial level because some of these probiotic cultures are protected by patents and would potentially result in a lawsuit. Kinda funny, actually.
Probiotics have also hit the suplement market. There are several versions of vitamins or supliments on the market with various active bacteria in them. The most recent to hit the search engines is Align Probiotics. This has people searching for side effects of Align Probiotics Align Side Effects Probiotic Side Effects, Align Probiotics reviews and of course, the Best Probiotics. Apparently, there is some sort of Align Probiotic coupon you can print out there.
Not to be outdone, the next level of marketers decided to take Proactiv to a whole new level, the Skin. There is now a Pro-Activ Acne Creme out there. A quick search shows they seem to have Justin Bieber on their side... So it must be good :P
So does the Pro-activ designation mean you are putting probiotic yogurt on your face to reduce acne? Maybe this will be the next trend, remember the beer Shampoo fad. Of course it is on the Internet, so it must be true. Truth be known, the best cure for acne is to wash your face with a warm clean soapy facecloth 2 to 3 times a day. Ya know, after you eat. Typically speaking, grease will start to flow out of our pours after you eat so washing your face is the best cure for that. Eating all the Probiotic yogurt, dousing it down with Proactiv margarine and plastering your face with cream will not do as good a job as just washing.
Oh ya, the margarine companies have jumped onto the Proactiv bandwagon. There is now a Proactiv Becel margarine on the market which touts the use of Plant Sterols (Not Probiotic bacteria) to help reduce cholesterol levels. In addition to blocking the absorption of Cholesterol there is also an added risk of blocking the absorption of certain vitamins. This brings to mind a fad of the past, Olestra, which unlike Plant Sterols, is an artificial fat which is not absorbed by the body. Yet it still has the wonderful yummy melt in your mouth taste of good old Natural Fat. Now the next part almost made me piss myself laughing when I first read the warning label on a bag of Olestra Chips a friend "smuggled" across the Canadian Border. In addition to blocking the absorption of certain vitamins, this synthetic nummy Olestra caused anal leakage. Ya, you heard me right, they actually mentioned "Anal Leakage" on a bag of chips. Now doesn't that just make ya wanna run.... to the bathroom that is.
Anyways, back to the folks at Becel ant their brand new Plant Sterol Pro-Activ Margarine. Looking at the label, there appears to be no Probiotics, nor do I see any claimed that proactively rubbing Pro-Activ Plant Sterol margarine on your face will help prevent Justin Bieber from getting acne. So that brings up the question, What are Plant Sterols? Well, unlike Olestra, Plant Sterols occur naturally in foods such as nuts fruits and vegetables the kind added to food is usually derived from vegetable oil. The claim is that Plant Sterols reduce the absorption of Cholesterol, thus reducing the risk of heart attacks.
As for the risks of Plant Sterol, well there is the blockage of certain vitamins and People with sitosterolaemia are discouraged from using it as they are unable to metabolize plant sterols. There is, however, no mention of this on the label. I only see some instruction to consume at least 5 teaspoons of Plant Sterol containing Becel Margerine a day. Wow, that 227 Gram mini tub which cost me about 5 bucks will go quickly. I wonder if I can add chocolate syrup to it to make it taste better.

Octomom Nadia Suleman from Nutcase to Pornstar to Welfare bum

And to think, I figured the whole Octomom thing would settle down once Nadia Suleman popped her latest fetal chemical creations out of her hootchy. Well, apparently not. It seems Nadia Suleman AKA the Octomom, so named after the number of children she decided to have, seems to be have a little bit of a Paris Hilton type syndrome. You know, attention whore...

Aside from the obvious mental issues involved in a person deciding to have that many children, there have also been several recent rumours surfacing regarding the floppy 'gina. Of course, as with any celebrity, there has to be some sort of sex scandal or sex tape involved. Since we already know the Octomom (Nadia Suleman) has a thing for Children, the whole Tiffany Shepherdesque high school teacher sex thing would probably be a little tasteless, but that has not been written out of the porno script apparently up for the MILF Octomom. I guess the Octamom has to raise some money to feed all those hungry mouths somehow, after all, it is only a few years until her kids highschool buddies start questioning why they are all still sucking on Mommy Nadia Suleman's saggy boobs. Sure they are all perky now, but imagine what will happen after all those kids get hold of them for a couple of years. Shit, her boobs can be back home in Mexico for Christmas.

So if that wasn't enough to satisfy the white-trash dirt seekers in Mid-America, it seems the recent financial hardships and potential massive welfare cheques heading the way of Octomom Nadia Suleman are getting tempers flared... and rightfully so. Even me, way up here in the Igloo's of Canada :P is mighty miffed Eh!, even though it's not coming out of my taxes. It sure does make for some interesting visitors though.

So what are your thoughts? Should Octomom Nadia Suleman be fixed, locked up or given some Valium? Moreover, should she be given Welfare for all those Children? Thoughts... Tomato's... typical insults and profanity aimed in my self ritious direction...

UK Crackdown on P2P File Sharing

OK, so we are all too familiar with the Pirates of the Indian Ocean and their increasing attacks on container ships and now personal yachts. The British government, in particular Business Secretary Peter Mandelson, is seeking to shut down Internet Piracy in the form of illegal downloads.

Peter Mandelson recently announced his plan to crack down on people who persistently download illegal content, stating they will be cut off from the net if they continue downloading content.

This recent addition to government policy followed months of speculation on the topic of a crack down on peer-to-peer downloading in the UK. The new regulation means persistent peer-to-peer P2P users will be sent two warning letters before facing disconnection from their ISP.

This new regulation is being challenged by ISP providers in the UK on the grounds that it is impractical. A reprasentative from ISP TalkTalk, an ISP firm in the UK said "What is being proposed is wrong in principle and won't work in practice," They further went on to say the UK Anti-piracy law is "ill-conceived" and they are prepared to challenge the Peer-to-peer downloading crackdown against online filesharing in the courts stating "In the event we are instructed to impose extra judicial technical measures we will challenge the instruction in the courts."

Peter Mendelson, however, said actual disconnections are going to be a "Last Resort. In his announcement Peter Mendelson said "I have no expectation of mass suspensions. People will receive two notifications and if it reaches the point they will have the opportunity to appeal,"
UK ISP's have argued it is not their job to police the Internet. Further going on to state they should not be responsible for the cost involved in policing the downloading practices of their customers. In response, Peter Mandelson said the costs of enforcing his anti-piracy crackdown on Peer-to-peer P2P file sharing would be "shared between ISPs and content providers".

The Internet Service Providers' Association feels the copywrite holders should cover all costs involved in enforcing the proposed UK Anti-piracy crackdown on P2P file sharing, this would also include reimbursement of ISPs for lost revenue and expenses.

The ISPA further went on to state "The unintended consequence of Lord Mandelson's plan will be to encourage more wi-fi and PC hi-jacking and expose more innocent people to being penalised."

Peter Mandelson further went on to say this proposed UK Anti-piracy crackdown on P2P file sharing would also result in a more relaxed copyright regime. Although the details of his plan would need to be hammered out at European level, it would take account of the use of copyright material "at home and between friends", he said. For example, someone who has bought a CD would be able to copy it to their iPod or share it with family members without acting unlawfully.

In a post on their blog, The Pirate Bay, an online P2P Filesharing source and frequent defender of Filesharing rights said:

We have, ourselves, full confidence that if all do their duty, if nothing is neglected, and if the best arrangements are made, as they are being made, we shall prove ourselves once more able to defend our Internets, to ride out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of tyranny, if necessary for years, if necessary alone.

Even though large parts of Internets and many old and famous trackers have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Ifpi and all the odious apparatus of MPAA rule, we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the ef-nets and darknets, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Internets, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the baywords.org, we shall fight on the /. and on the digg, we shall fight in the courts; we shall never surrender, and if, which I do not for a moment believe, the Internets or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the Anon Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in Cerf's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.

In France the government has just approved a so-called three strikes policy.

Under the French Anti-piracy crackdown on P2P file sharing, those identified as illegally downloading content would initially be sent warning letters and, if they failed to comply, could be removed from the network for up to a year.
