Eating Milchigs On Shavous

The Mishna Verura (494 sk 12) says one of the reasons for eating Milchigs on Shavuos is because after Matan Torah, they couldn’t eat meat, because it was too time consuming.

They would need to shecht, remove the chailev , rinse ,salt and cook in a new pot.

They chose instead milchig.

What's pshat ?

Matan Torah was on Shabbos and couldn’t do all this because of issur Shabbos and not because of takes too much time

This question was answered by the Chofetz Chaim himself.

(There exists today, a copy of his hand written answer.)

He answered that the reason he wrote, “they didn’t eat meat

because of lack of time” rather than because of issur

Shabbos, was, he wanted to give reason even according

to the Pirke d’Reb Eliezer who holds that the Torah was

given on Friday.*

Answer:
Perhaps, Hashem wasn't threatening or forcing
the בני ישראל to accept the Torah on הר סיני. There was
no need to do so, being,
a) they had already done so (נעשה ונשמע)
b) no point in forcing to accept the Torah by having
a gun pointed at them.

Hashem told the בני ישראל after they said נעשה ונשמע
that it was a good decision they made by accepting the
Torah. The only way for עם ישראל to survive & remain a
nation forever is by accepting and keeping the Torah.

Otherwise, had they not accepted the Torah then they
too would ח"ו end up "שם" over there where the other
empires & nations of the world are buried and disappeared
from the face of the earth.

(d) girsa “עוגה” (cake) instead of Matzah. The כל בו gives the reason " because it is *משמח את הלב (brings joy to the heart)."
*Saffron has an ancient history of use as a drug. It has a narcotic effect

The כל בו also writes to bake a (e) Challah with four corners (looks like two) to remind us of the שתי הלחם and/or it
symbolizes "twins" (מזל סיון תאומים)

The רוקח writes that on Shavuos morning you bring the

The משנה ברורה quotes from the מגן אברהם to bake

“התורה חוגרת שק- עשאוני בניך כמין זמר..” The Torah ‘puts on sackcloth’ when its words are turned into mere songs

Because of this, earlier generations often used Yiddish niggunim, Maamarei Chazal, or wordless tunes for הקפות של שמחת תורה.

Rav Isser Zalman Meltzer zt"l related that in Volozhin, the הקפות niggunim were “קמץ א' אה” and “אמר אביי”

Rav Moshe Feinstein zt"l writes he knew of no solid היתר for singing פסוקים.

Rav Elyashiv zt"l, however, allowed it only when the niggun brings out the meaning of the words and is sung as praise of Hashem.

His example of a permitted niggun: “מה אהבתי תורתך.”

The Niggun Teitches up the meaning of the words.

In this week’s Parsha there are two counting's:

1) The counting of the Bnei Yisroel from age 20 yrs.& up.

2) The counting of the Leviyim from age 30 days & up.

At the counting of the Bnei Yisrael it says “L’gulgelosom (counting of their heads).

At the counting of the Leviyim there is no mention of L’gulgelosom.

The Shu”t Chasam Sofer (Y.D. 294) quotes the Sefer Kol Yehuda in the name of R. Shmuel Krakover.

Had it have said at the Leviyim to count the heads, we might have thought that someone who was born with two heads should be counted as two.
Therefore no mention of heads. A two headed child is a single person and counted as one..

At the Bnei Yisrael’s counting, such a mistake could not have been made because a two headed person cannot survive for 20 years. Therefore the Torah could mention L’gulgelosom -to count the heads.

R. Menachem Azaryo from Fano (Asarah Ma’amoros) says the reason the Torah mentions L’gulgelosom, is because Moshe looked on the person’s head to see if he will produce
600,000 descendants .
If yes, this person became a Rosh Mishpacha. Moshe also checked how many Gilgulim this person will have to go through
