Sweet little angel card and matching box

Hello dear friends,

Hope everyone is well, enjoying the spring, although here we went back to the usual rain. But it was badly needed in fields and gardens and hopefully it's only for few days.

So, I was happily crafting indoors.
Today I choose to submit my card for three chalanges:

Here, in Ireland, in the Midlands where I live, the spring has finally sprung and with all the lovely sunshine and the Easter preparations I'm running a bit out of time so, today will be just a quick post to share with you my new creation.

I recently discovered the Lili of the valley stamps and I must admit it was love at first sight, so I bought a bunch of them Here and this is my first card using them and my first entry in a LOTV's Challenge.

Painting with fibres... what's that?

Hi everyone,

Such a loooong time without a post and so many things to share... that I don't know where to start...

I'll try to keep it short so, after a wonderful time in Spain ( special post about it coming soon), I came back home and, unfortunately, I've broken my foot, so you can imagine, plaster, not being able to walk and all.
But you know me already, it needs much more than a broken foot to keep me away from my studio!!! LOL

A while ago I started to be very interested in textile arts, so, I said to myself, what a better time than this to start and do something about it. So, this is how I started my journey in a new world of WONDER!!! Making felt!

Felt is a non-woven cloth that is produced by matting, condensing and pressing woolen fibres.

Many cultures have legends as to the origins of feltmaking. Sumerian legend claims that the secret of feltmaking was discovered byUrnamman of Lagash. The story of Saint Clement and Saint Christopher says that while fleeing from persecution, the men packed their sandals with wool to prevent blisters. At the end of their journey, the movement and sweat had turned the wool into felt socks.

The traditional method to achieve this fabulous fabric is wet felting. A simple and almost magical process, where natural wool, soap, water and agitation are used to create the fabric. Wool fibers have scales and the process of felting causes these scales to grab onto each other and interlock.

And now, I would like to share with you my few first steps into this magical realm.

I'm going to Spain

Hi everyone,
Yes, Sunday I'm going to Spain, where I'll meet my sister and her family, in a long waited and well deserved holiday!!! I can't wait to see them!
Soooo, this means presents right? Well, I worked like a mad woman these last weeks to finish them, but I have them ready!LOL
OK, I made these two for my little niece, Cristina Maria.

The next ones are for my nephew Tudor and for Monica and Alex. But first, there is a story about them that I want to share with you. As you'll see, I tried something completely different( again! LOL). I hope it's as a nice surprise for you as it was for me when I worked them. One day, few weeks ago, I was browsing the net and I accidentally found a dutch artist, Carla van den Berg. She is a FABULOUS ARTIST, I mean it, take a look at her website and you wont regret it! And this is not all, she has a YouTube channel, http://www.youtube.com/user/carlavandenberg, where you can see some of her awesome work, as well as a huge amount of videos in which she shares her techniques, her generosity is amazing!!! She and her work spoke to my heart and, as if by magic, touched a string that I never thought it was there all the time, just waiting to be awaken. And awaken it was, I tell you!!!LOL

Art journal pages and Summer in my Garden

Hi,
It's been ages (again!) since I posted anything, but, boy, was I busy! With a few paintings in work, making jewelry, house chores ( that NEVER ends, believe me!!!) and art journaling, there is sooo little time left for blogging... And, as if all these weren't enough, I bought two WONDERFUL online workshops ( Sharon's Faces in Technicolor and Julie's Chaos and Calm: Over the Edge Painting Techniques ), which I haven't got the chance to go near yet and will need my attention soon!
OK now, I would like to share with you few things I made lately. I discovered recently a video by Teesha Moore (you can click the link if you're interested in seeing it) where she shares how she is making her own art journals. Not having the right size of paper she's using, I needed to adapt it a bit, but I'm very pleased with the result and here you can see the first two pages I've done so far.

New jewelry

Hi everyone,

How are you, my dear friends? Sorry I didn't post for so long and not being able to visit your wonderful blogs lately, but it was a very busy time for me here , trying to keep playing in my studio and making some jam, jelly and syrup with the fruit and flowers we have in the garden. I'll try to catch up with your blogs as soon as I can. :)

Who would have thought one year ago, when I started this blog that I would start making silver jewelry? Certainly I didn't! But here I am, completely hooked by silver wire, silver clay and all sort of beads! Crazy about them!!!LOL

I've used sterling silver wire, small turquoise rondelles, some wonderful lampwork beads by hugely talented german artist Karin Hruza of http://www.beadfairy.de/ , Swarovski crystals and some tiny Bali silver beads.

The Enchanted Garden

Hi everyone,
Hope you're all well and enjoy the sun! Here is summer at last!
I just finished a new painting and I thought I'll share it with you. It's called 'The Enchanted Garden', it is painted on a plywood pannel and measures 12x 10.5 inchies. I have used water soluble crayons, Golden acrylics ( heavy body and fluid), Distress inks,stamps, PanPastels, rubons, Perfect Pearls, glitter, Sakura glaze pens, stamps, archival inks and Stewart Gill byzantia jewels. For the frame I used Ranger crackle paint. The wings are made from a piece of muslin that I painted and added some accents with fabric paint and glitter.

Fan necklace

Hi,

Hope everyone is well and has a wonderful Sunday!

My Sunday was really great so far! Two of my original mixed media paintings found a new home this week and I managed to finish a new necklace. I also work on a new painting! So, busy, busy, busy!

Lots of sparkling Swarovski crystals and silver clay in this two strand necklace. I also used peridot chips, tiny Bali silver beads, sterling and fine silver wire and japanese seed beads. Hope you'll like it!

The cones are made from silver clay, as well as one part of the clasp, crafted in Bali style.
