As I See It

Late Review: Jason Mraz "Won´t Give Up".

2012-01-17T11:34:00.003-04:30

2012 seems to be a great year for music, it has been a week since this new song was available for download and i´m glad to hear that Jason Mraz is back with a very heartfelt, honest song, staying true to himself and doing what he does best, is a very simple guitar driven record and is that simplicity what makes it so good, he continues to prove why he is such a great singer.
"I won´t Give Up" debuted at #1 on the digital chart with 229.000 downloads, the first chart topper for him, it also debuted at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100, second top 10 in his career, wich is a littel crazy, if we think about how big was "I´m Yours" back in 2008, his new album is expected to hit stores in May.

Jennifer Hudson "Thinks like a Woman and Acts like a Man".

2012-01-17T11:06:00.000-04:30

Jennifer Hudson nabs the theme song for the upcoming film "Act like a Lady, Think like a Man", the song features vocals from Ne-Yo and Rick Ross, is a very agsressive and full of attitud song, althought i don´t get the feeling of a theme record, i cannot denied how good it is.

You can go harder or you can go home Will.I.Am.

2011-11-18T20:35:00.001-04:30

I can not deny the talent that Will.I.Am has as a producer, but as a writer or singer there is a lot that we can talk about for example his new single "T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)" from the upcoming album "WillPower", it is an odd colaboration with J.Lo and Mick Jagger, the beat is crazy, but the lyrics are very weak, singing lines like "I´m making money for my grandkids nieces" and "You can be a geek or a Rolling Stonna" doesn´t seem he put a lot of thought into the lyrics, this is one of those songs were the beat is everything, it sound like something that the "Black Eyed Peas" would sing, he is not stepping to far away fron the E.ND.

All I want for Christmas is .....?

2011-11-18T14:48:00.001-04:30

Christmas is aproaching fast as some holiday tunes have already started to impact the airwaves, this year seems to be quite the fever for a particular song, but not any song is indeed is a record that has become a modern holiday classic, each year sets new records and becomes more popular, is no other than "All I Want For Christmas Is You".
The holiday hit, is being cover this year by Michael Buble and Amber Riley (Aka Mercedes from Glee), each one putting their own style, while Justin Bieber decided to do a duet with Mariah Carey herself, the three versions are very different and what i really like is that the song is reaching out to wider audience, listen and decide which one is your favorite version for this year.

Are "You Da One" Rihanna?

2011-11-11T10:35:00.001-04:30

Recently Rihanna made history when she achieved her 11# one on the Hot 100 with "We Found Love", now and really fast she is moving towards her second single from the upcoming album "Talk That Talk" which is out on november 21st.
"You Da One" is the next single, is a caribean jam, is fun and kind os catchy but i find it irritating at time, is not as good as the first single is a big disapoinment, i will be surprise if this song becomes a hit.

"We Found Love" with Rihanna.

2011-09-22T12:08:00.000-04:30

Rihanna doesn´t seem to give us a break these days ... lets point out the fact that she is the most successful female artist of the last decade by achieving 10 #1 singles faster than any other, her most recent album "LOUD" became a world wide success, but that isn´t enough she already working on a new album, her first single "We Found Love" ft. UK DJ Calvin Harris, has premiered today.

This is an upbeat dance floor song, it has a good feel, a good chorus but lacks of lyrics, the beginning is great but towards the middle and the end i felt lost and disconnected, seems like both of them should have work more because there is something lacking.

Enrique Iglesias "Likes How It Feels".

2011-09-12T12:04:00.000-04:30

Enrique is taking out as much as possible from his Euphoria album, now by releasing a repackaged version, which will feature Jennifer Lopez on a track called "Mouth2Mouth", and this one called "I Like How It Feels" featuring Pitbull, is an upbeat feel good and full of energy song reminiscent to "I Like It", it is also in the trend of recent whistle songs like Britney´s "I Wanna Go", Foster The People´s "Pumped Up Kicks" or Maroon 5´s "Moves Like Jagger".

"Those Who Wait" for Daley.

2011-08-20T18:36:00.000-04:30

This is more of an introduction than a review, Daley is a Soul/Alternative U.K. singer, he made his debut in 2009 with "Rainy Day", his biggest highlight yet was the collaboration with "Gorillaz" on the track "Doncamatic" in 2010, since he´s been working on a mixtape called "Those Who Wait" (Free Download) which is composed by 10 tracks, a couple of them are covers and one remix.

Daley has a very soulful voice with a throwback feel, although his music is mainly a combination of genders like R&B, Alternative & Soul, he is an artist to lookout for, sooner that later we will see him everywhere because good things come to those who wait.

"How Come You Never Go There?" .... Feist.

2011-08-20T15:34:00.001-04:30

Feist is back with a very dark hunting single, "How Come You Never Go There" is a very instrumental mid-tempo record, her voice sounds very clear it also has this hypnotizing vibe i´m glad she continues to be true to her Indie origins, this is the first cut of her upcoming album "Metals", which by the name sounds very promising.

T.G.I.F.!! T.G.I.F.!! Katy Perry and Missy Elliot Remix.

2011-08-06T16:01:00.000-04:30

It´s not Friday ... but is definitely time to party! , Missy Elliott makes a triumphant comeback with this remix, after 2 year of absence and some personal struggles she manages to make an appearance on this #1 Hit, but the craziest thing here is that most of us are still enjoying Katy´s "Teenage Dream" album, is amazing the fact that she achieved 5 #1 singles from the current album, she match Michael Jackson´s previous record, for me this song became a hit thanks to the video using the power of celebrities was a guaranty success.

I´m not sure if any of those songs will become classics, only time and future generations will be able to tell us of the did, but for now lets enjoy them ... and "T.G.I.F." all weekend long.

"Show Me" some love Jessica Sutta.

2011-08-03T14:46:00.000-04:30

Oh! Jessica .... Coming from the "Pussycat Dolls", she is looking for a career of her own, with her sex appeal and sultriness she´ll get a lot of fans, her debut single "Show Me" is an example of that, is a electro-pop record with a Daft Punk´s Tron Soundtrack type of intro, is a club banger record.

Travis Garland & JoJo like a perfect "Paint".

2011-08-03T13:41:00.000-04:30

Money must be coming in for Jai Paul ... Why? because his track "BTSTU" is sample in two recent tracks, one is in Darke´s "Dreams Money Can Buy" which is mixed with Hip Hop and the other is Travis Garland´s "Paint" in which he collaborates with JoJo.

Travis made his debut in the music scene as part of boy band NLT, the band didn´t achieve any success, in 2010 he released his single "Believe" which fail to succeed, that same year he was featured on JoJo´s mixtape "Can´t Take That Away" on the track "When Does It Go Away". Now he is ready to give another try, this time with JoJo by his side in the track "Paint", the two of them make a great duet, this is a excellent song with a lot of energy that will keep you going, i hope this record performs better and finally gives him some major attention.

"Strip" for Chris Brown & Kevin MCcall.

2011-08-02T19:42:00.000-04:30

This must be a track for Chris Brown´s upcoming mixtape "Boy In Detention" ... not sure ... but any way is a great song, it kicks with this great dance beat, and by the time you get to the chorus you´ll get down to the "business".
Chris and Kevin make a great team ... they should continue to make music together, this one is as good as "Read Between the Lines".

7 For Ever From Amy Winehouse.

2011-07-24T16:31:00.000-04:30

Putting aside her lifestyle and personal issues ... she had one of the best and most recognizable voices in the music world, her Jazzy- Soulful-R&B vibe made her a unique artist, we should focus on the good and the quality of her music, which will live on forever.

farewell.

"If I (BTR & Iyaz) Ruled The World" it would be summer all year long.

2011-07-21T23:38:00.000-04:30

BTR (Big Time Rush) is back with Iyaz and just in time for the summer .... every time a song starts with a guitar string I´m on it, is my weakness .... the collaboration with Iyaz makes it more urban gives it more energy, is catchy enough and perfect for summer, maybe it will blow up all over the radio.

Kelly Rowland tries to keep the "Motivation" with "Lay On Me".

2011-07-17T15:50:00.001-04:30

The ladies from Destiny´s Child are not reuniting ... but they are working on their solo efforts, Beyonce already dropped her album "4" which debuted at #1 (thanks to the fans), although any single has been a hit, Michelle is working on her upcoming album, and Kelly is ready to still the spot light with her upcoming album "Here I Am", following the success of her sultry 1st single "Motivation", she´s moving onto the 2nd single "Lay On Me", this one is an upbeat Hip Hop-Piano driven track assisted by the help of Big Sean on a couple of verses.

Olly Murs "Heart Skips a Beat".

2011-07-16T18:28:00.002-04:30

These days second chances don´t come very often, after a moderate success with his 1st album and number 1 single "Please Don´t Let Me Go" on the UK charts, Olly is back with the first single from his upcoming album.

"Heart Skips a Beat" is an uptempo fun record with a Reggae - old school Hip-Hop mix, is a great collaboration between Olly and Rizzle Kicks, it looks (watch the video) and sounds like a Hit to me.

Listen.

Leona Lewis might "Collide".

2011-07-15T14:55:00.001-04:30

Some people say the 1st album of every artist is the best and they might be right ... in this case Leona´s 2008 debut album is her best work to date, since then she has struggle to match that success, her second album Eco didn't do so well, now she is coming with the first single of her upcoming album ... "Collide" is an upbeat dance track reminiscent to Alexis Jordan "Happiness" and even there is some drama regarding the beat, i´m not going to get into that. the thing is that this song is far from a collision, there is no speed, no adrenaline, no emotion, no soul and from someone who has a voice like her she should be able bring all those things into the track, is sad to say but i don´t see this song going very far or up in the charts.

The "Karma" of Joss Stone.

2011-07-14T13:52:00.000-04:30

Who said Rock n Roll was dead? ... Joss is bringing it back with a lot of Soul on her new track "Karma" is pure fire!, the song is about a very troubled relationship, she sing with such an anger and hate is obvious that no one should ever mess around with Joss. This track is part of her upcoming album "LP1" wich is out on July 26th in the US, not so sure if the same date for the UK but you should look for it.

Check it out.

Kelly Clarkson doesn´t "Let Me Down".

2011-07-11T17:08:00.002-04:30

Kelly is back! ... she sure is redeeming herself with this song, as the most succesfull Idol winner, she is coming really strong with "Let Me Down", an upbeat Pop-Rock track with a nice beat, the lyrics are great, is an anthem for sure.

Is not very clear if this would be the 1st single from her upcoming album, but even if it´s not is a guaranty hit.

"This Time" is Pia Toscano´s Time.

2011-07-11T16:00:00.000-04:30

After an early elimination of American Idol Season 10th, it was no surprise that she would be getting a recording contrarct, she obviousliy had one of the best voices of the season, wich does not guaranty the triumph of the show beacuse it is a popularity contest not a singing competition, but leaving that aside, Pia is working to make her debut.

"This Time" is a song written by Ester Dean, is a midtempo inspirational track, in wich we can find pia belting towards the end her vocal power, she sure has a nice tone and is a good first single, I´ll keep an eye on her.

The summer is here, and Colbie Cailliat want a piece of it, with Common by her side, they might get a chance to Hit the charts.

This song is taken from Colbie latest album "All of You", the song is catchy, with nice rythm and has an urban feeling given thanks to the help of Common, it is for sure a summer jam.

Patrick Stump and Lupe Fiasco own "This City".

2011-06-28T20:53:00.002-04:30

Those of you who may not recognize his name, Patrick Stump is the lead singer of the band "Fall Out Boy", early this year he released an EP entitled "Truant Wave", he is working in his solo debut wich will be entitled "Soul Punk".

"This City" is the first single from his upcoming album, and it is very diferent for what he has done with his band, is away from that Pop-Punk sound, this is a Soul-Punk-Alternative sound mixing it up with some urban flavor coming from Lupe Fiasco how assists Patrick on this record.

I realy like the song, it has a great sound, the lyric is decent, Lupe adds some good verses but for some reason at the end of the song ended with mixed feelings.

Maroon 5 & Christina Aguilera "Moves Like Jagger".

2011-06-21T15:49:00.001-04:30

Things keep getting better for Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera, their new colaboration "Moves Like Jagger" is a disco-modern dance track, wich echoes the rolling stones´ 1978 hit "Miss You", It is catchy, has a great melody and although is a disco-dance-electro-pop song the band manage to stay truth to their sound, mixing it up with the powerful vocals from miss Aguilera. i´m not sure if this is a single for an upcoming album of the band, but since Adam and Christina joined the hit TV show "The Voice" good thing have happend to both of tthem.
