How to save women from being raped - a few humble opinions

2014-12-21T04:06:00.003-08:00

As rapes continue without any reform to the minds of distorted people all over the world (not generalizing), there has to be action taken against those who think it is okay to hurt and destroy a woman both physically and mentally. A woman is born to be loved, to be cared for so that she can help with the continuation of the human kind and not considered as a piece of enjoyment. Some patriarchs think women as lowly, they do not give her respect and trade girls who are still kids for money. Shame on such people.

Instead of just reading about rapes, signing a social media petition and moving off toward other daily jobs, we should all take ACTIONS AGAINST SUCH CRIMINALS.

1. Warn women against going alone through places that are deserted or lonely. Even if there are companions, it is better to carry self defense weapons or pepper sprays.

2. Form groups of local residents for patrol in troubled areas. The police will help when more people are involved. e.g. there were many thefts in +Thripunithura a suburb in our city and local residents formed groups (25) of night patrol and they would roam the streets at night with sticks and torches. They put an end to the thefts by catching the thieves who had killed people for stealing during the night, especially when they were glued to the tv sets at night. Such groups can be formed to catch rapists if ever they come to trouble girls traveling alone. It may sound impossible but we have to ensure safety of women and girls.

3. I am a woman. Women may talk about equality and such stuff. This is applicable only in places which are safe, not in the streets where anti social elements may roam, drunk, in the night. Please never ever stray alone in the dark without proper vehicle or companions. Never send little girls alone even if it is to a neighbors' house. Life now is even more dangerous.

4. Never trust a stranger and never leave a little one with a stranger or anyone you are unsure of. Some people have a knack of talking others into revealing personal secrets and taking them into confidence. Treat every new person with a distance and never trust a kid with them.

Glossy magazines

2014-12-21T04:05:00.002-08:00

Magazines are a form of entertainment. From the start of movies, the last century onwards, there have been gossips. The print magazines have taken advantage of the celebrity lives, their secrets and their glamor and sold it like hot cakes. Even now, the print magazines run strong. As long as people love to read about the movie stars and their lives, the glossy magazines will live on.

The main attraction is the colorful photographs, the scandals and juicy details, the smaller details and so on. Some magazines introduce other features. There are others which blend glamor into health and home and they succeed whereas some just use plain print but I do not know if many will buy such boring looking magazines. It is often the color that attracts the buyer.

Do you love reading magazines? I sometimes look through it but do not have much time to read it. The magazine my husband buys sometimes is more for the housewife rather than a film based one. It has great household tips, astrological predictions and recipes and so on. It is a monthly magazine. I wonder if there are quality online magazines.

Things to watch out while you purchase a handbag

2014-12-21T04:04:00.002-08:00

Handbags are a must to almost every woman. Most people buy from local stores. There are people who would pay more than a thousand dollars for a brand handbag. I am writing this for the ordinary person like me who uses a handbag more for useful purposes than anything else.

1. Check the bag for proper stitch
2. Go through every pocket carefully - some have smelly interiors made of cheap plastic which could tear - so dirt cheap may not be worth it
3. Check the strap - whether it is sturdy
4. Check the clasps and the zippers - close and open
5. Check it inside out

Check three or four and decide on the best, trust your conscience and buy it before you change your mind

Handbags can hold many things and a fellow writer &goodselfme won a handbag weighing competition

Natural cures for diabetes

2014-12-21T04:03:00.002-08:00

Just as I settled before bubblews, my sis in law called me to ask about my health. Speaking about diabetes and all the diets, she mentioned that Okra/ladies finger as it is known here is a natural cure. It should be cut and soaked in water and left overnight. Then the water should be drank in the morning. However it will reduce blood sugar so quickly that one has to be careful and consult a physician before attempting this method and thus avoid pills. I may not try this method because the gooey texture of okra will certainly put me off and I have to follow the schedule given by the doctor. Cinnamon is also good enough she said and advised me to put it in the tea while boiling. I will do that so that it is beneficial to all.

Thanks to the bubblews team for sending my payment and now I can use it to buy a pair of boots for my hubby. The problem now remains to convince him to buy it. Being a villager throughout, he does not like dressing fancy and would consider boots as an accessory to be worn only by the fashion guys or gals.

I do not know why snakes are entering human territory- today's morning paper had a report - a jeep was driven by a person and his colleague. They were going to the bank. A snake fell on the lap of the driver. In his state of fear, he forgot common sense, threw the snake aside and jumped out of the running jeep which hit a parked car. The snake fell on his co passenger and he also jumped from the running jeep. Thanks to God, nothing happened to those two and the car that the jeep hit. A traffic jam had formed by then and the people from the road helped in finding the snake and killing it. Now, we are going to check every place before we even venture.

God bless bubblews.

Belgium is a model for others

2014-12-21T04:02:00.002-08:00

As many know, my son is studying in the tenth class/grade. He has a lot to study and it seems his politics teacher has not yet started teaching as she is now teaching economics and geography. So, I took his text book and planned to teach him. The first chapter is about the distribution of power and two countries are explained in detail so that the kids will be able to understand more easily.

Belgium and Srilanka - how they handled a difficult situation.

Belgium has a population that consists of French speaking, Dutch speaking and about one percent of German speaking people. Their government has redefined the constitution in such a way that all are represented and given a voice. Thus all are appeased and a major civil war avoided. The Belgians are very diplomatic and truly democratic.

In the other case as we all know, suppression led to the formation of terrorist groups and further destruction of land and people. I do hope no such terror group ever arises and things are solved in an amicable manner. That is why I felt that +Belgium is a model for other countries in the world.

Beware of pickpockets while traveling

2014-12-21T04:01:00.002-08:00

I received a news that a relative lost her purse which contained money and all cards and important documents.

She had the good sense to block those cards but I do not know if she will get back her documents like Pan Card which is very important and issued by the income tax department.

She is upset and we are too while listening to her through the mobile.

She said that a crowd of people surrounded her and snatched her purse in the bus. They also tried to snatch her gold chain bu she did not let them get it. They took her purse by keeping their heavy bags on top of hers and then took hers in the shuffle that followed.

India is a crowded country and one must be careful.

I am writing this to warn all travelers.

Each one of you is a form of God - Hinduism

2014-12-21T04:00:00.002-08:00

Har Har Mahadev
(each each Shiva(Mahadev)

According to Hinduism, each being is a form of God. Human birth is rare and got after being born in many forms right from a grain of sand, a tree, a cow, a tiger and so on to finally attain the form of a human being. (Human beings get involved in Maya or illusion and forget that only the human being has the capacity to use the brain to think and act and attain final liberation)

As a human being. you are able to read this. You are also able to understand what I have written. That means you are educated and can think for yourself. You must then not forget that the supreme power who created the universe (atheists please excuse me) will certainly have access to you, each and every one of you including me too. We only have to establish direct contact with the power and you will soon realize that the supreme power is inside you, not up above the sky so high.

What happens when we connect with God

We get love
we get peace
we get contentment
we are totally free
no materialism affects us
nothing disturbs us
nothing destroys us
because we are the soul
unified in the whole
in the brotherhood of man
and the fatherhood of God

Peace

These are my humble opinions, not I hope a cause for debate.

You can make your own fashion accessory

2014-12-21T03:59:00.003-08:00

Just think, why should you pay a lot of money for a simple accessory like a crocheted pin or laced item? We all have skills about which we are not aware of. We simply do not try. If you have some threads or wool in the closet or wardrobe, take it out today and try making a small crochet pattern or stitch an embroidered pattern on a cloth of your choice. This will not only save you money, it will also make you feel more good and less stressed. Whenever I feel low, I take out my crochet bag and make a rose. I was taught by my aunt and mom to crochet and am grateful to them. It kind of takes the negative energy away from me. I have made a table cloth but now don't do it because of my high myopia.

Do you do crochet? It would be nice to have your own sets of crocheted cloth.

Include cinnamon in your diet

2014-12-21T03:59:00.000-08:00

Modern processed foods contain a lot of white flour and refined sugar which is unhealthy. It cannot be avoided by many. To get healthy foods to eat is a blessing. So, to avoid getting many diseases in the future, simply include cinnamon in your diet. It is a prevention as well as cure too.

Please read online reports about it and you will be convinced. You can powder cinnamon sticks and include a pinch of the powder in curries or foods that you eat. eating neem leaves is also good but since neem is not available throughout, it is wise to include cinnamon. If you start practicing this now, you can continue living a healthy life.

Note of warning: Those who have low blood sugar and low pressure should consult a doctor before eating it. Pineapple also lowers blood pressure. There are many othe natural cures too. I will write later after a detailed study.

I did eat neem and tested my glucose and it showed pre diabetic. So, if I continue this before my next test, I may be given a tablet/pill which is of lesser strength.

A quick remedy if water goes into the ears

2014-12-21T03:58:00.002-08:00

Today evening, my son came back from school and took his bath. He came to me in a hurry and said that water had entered his ear. I searched for the ear bud and did not find it. In the end, I took a handkerchief and tried to wipe it out but it was not going, the feeling of water being stuck in the ear.

A little while before, he came to me and said that he found a new remedy for it and that the water came out. He jumped a few times and then tilted his head and then the water flowed out, maybe a few drops, he said.

Anyways, I am glad he got it out anyway.

I wrote this so that any of you reading this could try this out the next time water enters your ears.

Have a nice weekend.

Childhood friendships and carefree days

2014-12-21T03:57:00.002-08:00

After reading &ajithlalm post, I was transported from my present day boring life to those memories of childhood days. Thanks to him, I have a better mood now. In those days, we stayed near families which also had kids the same age as ours. The evenings were spent in playing outdoor games like shuttle and volleyball. The boys used to play a folk game called +Kuttim-kolum which was very exciting as well as dangerous to some extent. They had sharp sticks which they aimed to throw and dislodge a stick perched on a hole dug by hands. That is all I can remember about the game and soon after the elders stopped the boys from playing this game.

During rainy days, we played carroms, sorry sir, ludo and even snakes and ladders. We also used to play cards, not with money of course.

Those days were real free and with parents and elders also joining, it was days spent in heaven. Though short, it still energizes me. All of us have grown now but still love to live in those past days when kids had no grudge or ill feelings at all. The magic of childhood.

6. Helping to organize functions
7. Lending extra space for functions

how to remove knee pain with holistic care

2014-12-21T03:55:00.002-08:00

Both my husband and I are having knee pains. Because of the rains and damp atmosphere and our work connected with the cow shed as well, the pain is not subsiding. My husband has it so worse that he gets it unless he keeps eating the painkillers which is very bad as all know.

So, I asked my son to ask his yoga master in school about how to reduce this joint pain. The master has advised us to practice vajrasana. Please +Google for images.

Today my husband practiced it for about ten minutes and did get relief.
I could not sit properly but I will try it tomorrow. Just goes to show how much my body is suffering from lack of exercise.

This is the only asana which can be done after having a meal.

There are many +Yoga asanas which help the body regain total health. Those who are physically unable can still perform yoga by practicing yoga +Mudra which is +Yoga of the fingers

If you have knee pain please do try this out if you can
(not an ad for any yoga)
Those who are suffering from arthritis related joint pain, please consult a doctor before doing this.

writers who copy are still earning shamelessly

2014-07-10T06:51:00.000-07:00

There are many writing sites online. Before the advent of bubblews, there were many writers who earned the most from certain revenue sharing sites. The moderators in bubblews helped us see who were the cheaters and they were removed from the site. A lot of clean faces suddenly did not seem so clean.

Writers do read and reproduce content. However, copying word for word is not nice and it actually is cheating. On top of it, they are shameless and do not hesitate to threaten others who question their integrity.

I hope they are caught on other sites too otherwise the sites will suffer as such. Many sites cropped up inspired by the most successful ones but they failed because of such copiers and spammers.

Google and other such ad providers are wise. That is why the new Panda updates. If all realize this, it is good for them in the long run.

Facts about Uveitis

What is Uveitis?
Uveitis is the enlargement or inflammation of the uvea which is part of the eye. The uvea is a term used to represent the parts of the eye like the iris, the choroids and the ciliary body. The uvea is a vascular layer which is situated between the sclera {outermost layer] and the retina {innermost layer}. Inflammation of any or all parts of the uvea causes uveitis.

Causes of uveitis

2. Other medical conditions – Medical conditions like ulcerative colitis, crohn’s disease, sarcoidosis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis can be linked with uveitis in some cases.
3. Trauma- Eye injuries or surgeries can sometimes result in uveitis.
4. Infections- Various infections also can cause uveitis.
5. Autoimmune- When the immune system functions in a defective manner, parts of the body are attacked which results in inflammation.

Symptoms of uveitis
1. Eye pain
2. Redness of eye
3. Blurred vision {anterior uveitis and posterior uveitis]
4. Light sensitivity

Diagnosis
The pupils are dilated and the doctor examines the eye. Medical conditions like autoimmune disorders, eye surgery or infections are also checked upon to diagnose uveitis through various tests like x-rays, scans and blood tests.

Treatment

Treatment for uveitis is done by the eye doctor or with the cooperation of other doctors depending on the cause of inflammation.

1. Anterior uveitis
Allergic conditions which cause uveitis are usually treated with the help of steroid eye drops. Medication should never be discontinued unless clearly specified by the doctor. Hot compresses help to relieve the pain. Continuous check up is very necessary.
2. Intermediate uveitis
Injections, tablets or eye drops will be used to treat this form of uveitis. If complications [macula oedema] occur, then it is treated accordingly.
3. Posterior uveitis
Immunosuppressant drugs or steroids like prednisolone are administered in the form of injections to treat posterior uveitis. The drugs are prescribed if the level of steroid usage cannot be reduced.
Patients with uveitis can develop other eye problems like cataract, secondary glaucoma, macula oedema or posterior synechiae. These conditions can be caused due to side effects of medication or the uveitis itself. Complications should be taken note of immediately. Steroid usage can result in rise of eye pressure. Risk of losing eye sight is high due to long term steroid use. Doctors should be consulted regarding medication and the course. Treatment aims mainly at relieving pain, preventing vision loss and reducing inflammations

Explain the Ten Good Deeds in Buddhist Philosophy

2013-11-06T02:41:00.000-08:00

Buddhist teachings stress on ten good deeds. Sharing, moral living, unselfishness and service to humanity will help maintain harmony in the world.

Buddha taught his disciples that everyone must perform ten meritorious actions in order to lead a happy and wholesome life and thus promote not only their welfare, but also those around them and society as a whole. Only if the society is at peace, will the nation be and the world itself will be free from fear. The present condition of the world does call for such teachings to be propagated and practiced by all. The teachings of the Buddha should be imbibed in order to save this world from destruction being caused by terrorism and vices like drugs and intoxicants.
The ten good deeds which are to be practiced by the followers of Buddha are:
1. Giving to poor and needy
2. Being moral and righteous
3. Mental culture
4. Respecting others
5. Service to others
6. Sharing results of good deeds
7. Becoming happy in others achievements
8. Practicing what is preached about Dhamma
9. Absorbing what is heard and learnt about Dhamma
10. Transforming one’s attitudes according to rules of teachings.
The Buddha has advised the followers of Buddhism to perform these ten meritorious deeds and accumulate the results of these good deeds just like water is collected in a vessel by accumulating water droplets. If a person performs these good deeds, he will naturally become an inspiration for young minds to follow and emulate. In the modern era, the young are easily being misled by the glamour of the materialistic world which is not permanent and soon the person wastes his precious life before he realizes his folly and the falseness of this world.

Giving to others who are needy and in poverty is a great gesture of humanity and will benefit both the giver and the recipient also. Sharing what one has with others grant mental peace and stability and the blessings of those who got gifts will protect from danger.
Morality is the need of the hour and Buddhism promotes the virtue of morality. A person should forego lust and behave in a responsible way towards his fellow human beings. Adultery, rape and other unusual sexual practices are grave sins and destroy the harmony of society. Therefore people should behave morally and responsibly towards others in order to be a rightful citizen.
The attitudes of the mind are reflected through the face, words and actions of man. Mental culture should be high in order to promote peace and also urge others to follow the Dhamma.
Respecting other human beings and all forms of life and showing reverence to teaches and elders will surely grant blessings and keep alive the feeling of mutual respect and friendship in society. If all were to follow the good deed of respect, then there will be no malice or disharmony in society.
Selfless service is a great virtue and is becoming a rare quality in society today. Providing free service to others will certainly elevate one’s progress towards Buddha hoodBuddhahood. God is present in every form of life and by serving others, one is serving God.
When one is rewarded and if it is shared with others selflessly, then it is really a meritorious deed which deserves praise. The feeling of selfishness and ego will be wiped out of the mind and the person will become fit to receive God’s grace.
Praising other people’s achievements will clear the mind of ego and will promote the feeling of magnanimity and thus remove jealousy which is the sole reason for many crimes committed today.
A Buddhist follower should preach and teach what he has learnt from his teacher. By sharing knowledge, the greatest good deed will be done because it means that others will be transformed mentally and will become better persons and this will in turn ensure a moral society.
Listening to Dhamma and absorbing the teachings will make a follower progress easily and faster towards Nirvana and this is the highest goal of a Buddhist follower.
If one is transformed mentally and transforms one’s views, the person will be fit for others to follow and revere. A morally upright person is a good example for others to follow and imitate in order to become better.
Vices, bad habits and evil tendencies will tarnish the mind of man and a person should always be wary of these and try always to follow the principles of the Buddha. If a person commits a sin, then he alone will be responsible for the bad effects also. Bad deeds will result in great suffering and hinder a person’s progress in spirituality. Good deeds will purify the mind and promote peace in society. Only the results of good deeds will follow a person after death and not the material wealth he has hoarded. The Buddha advised all followers to perform the ten good deeds and earn merit in life and hereafter.
