Mystery Tackle Box Review

I cannot believe how much the subscription box business is growing! I swear there is a new box everyday!

When I saw this one I was extremely excited! I know its not your typical box, but you see, my husband is an avid fisherman. I mean he is OBSESSED! So I figured that since Mila and I both receive sweet stuff in the mail, that he could use some lovin' too! Thus the Mystery Tackle Box
Using code WFN499 you can get your first box for $4.99, and after that they start out at only $15 a month plus free shipping.

Included in our first box was: (Im not going to go into detail since I figure most people who read my blog are women) 2 bags of soft plastics, some hooks, a football jig, a chatter frog, and a sticker. With each box they include cards describing each product and the price.

According to their facebook page, there will be 10 items in Octobers box! Right now their boxes are geared toward bass and freshwater fishing, they are hoping to add more boxes in the future. So this could be the perfect gift for someone who loves to fish!

Citrus Lane Review

I recently received my September Citrus Lane box, I always look forward to this box!

This box was focused on animals :)
We received a green sprouts bib with sleeves! This makes clean ups super easy! Plum apple, raisin, quinoa baby food, which Mila sucked down like always. Weleda Pomegranate Firming Serum, I have actually been using this one because I was so impressed with the Weleda lotion I bought for Mila, plus it smells good! A book, and a duck bath sponge from Rich Frog, super cute!

Like all the other Citrus Lane boxes, I was very pleased and Mila is starting to recognize the boxes!

Twistband Review

I received my second twistband box, and of course I loved it! Their package is the cutest!

I was very please with the snacks they sent me and I have considered signing up monthly!

With this box I received: Tropical Gluten Free Granola, Antioxidant mix (my favorite), Essential Energy, and Sweet Slam.

Lost Crates-Joy The Baker September

So yesterday I received my second Lost Crates-joy the baker box, and I was very pleased this time! It was not just kitchen stuff, it was baking stuff and I love to bake!

Included in this months box was a 3 pound bag of gluten free flour, 2 Madagascar vanilla beans (really exciting because I've never been able to work with vanilla beans and everyone uses them!), and a 4 ounce bottle of single fold Mexican vanilla extract. The two vanilla products were from beanilla, a company that solely works with vanilla. :)

Also included was a recipe card for gluten-free banana breakfast dumplings with vanilla bean maple butter, uh can you say YUM!?

Can't wait to try the recipe!

I was very impressed with the items and value of this box!

Out of the box Sampler Review

This was my first Out of the Box Sampler, and I was very pleased! The box was definitely packed full!

Yay! Big box!

Here is the box opened, some food items in seperate bags (smart!) the golden ticket bag, and the box hiding in the bottom. I ordered the September Think Pink Sampler for $25 and I also bought the Golden Ticket bag for just $7 more. Shipping was included.

Food: 3 honey sticks from Kline Farm, a white chocolate ribbon sucker from FanTABulous Treats (it was broken but I gobbled it right up anyways, yum!), 2 tea cookies from The Princess Cakes, a bag of The Keeper Tea from Dryad Tea, and some soft mints.

All the stuff in the picture above was from the golden ticket bag!

Olive Box Review

I signed up for the trial box from pink olive called Olive Box, it is a box geard towards paper lovers, and since I cant pass up a great deal, I signed up for it! The trial box was $15, but I think the subsriptions will be somewhere around $24, don't quote me on that.
Cute packaging, always a plus!

An envelope with a note about the box and how this first box was inspired by blooms, aka flowers.

Here is what I received, super fast shipping by the way, Knot & Bow heart stickers, Lavender and Oatmeal handcrafted olive oil soap by Saipua, and two items from rifle paper co. (which is the same company who was in my first lost crates-joy the baker box...odd), two little notebooks or journals, and a very cute card "Wishing You Comfort" blank inside.
Not bad for a $15 box, but I don't feel the need to add to my paper collection, so I think I will skip on this supbscription.

Ok I have been a total slacker :( we went on vacation for a week, then baby girl was sick for a week, then I didn't MAKE time to catch up. Although nothing new has taken place in those few weeks, I still feel the need to apologize for not making something awesome happen.

Anywho...todays post is about a little black box, literally! I do not recall how I came across this sampler box (my new obsession) but I ordered it and I love it! First of all, the lady is based out of Texas,, which is where I am! And she has great customer service! She just recently posted that she will no longer be in charge though so I hope the boxes stay around! Citrus Lane Review!

Today we opened our 4th (I think) monthly box from Citrus Lane, I have loved every single one of our boxes!

You pay $25 a month, or discounted rates for longer subscriptions and get age and gender appropriate toys, food, books, necessities and etc. for your little one! From expecting mommies to children 3 years of age!
They always put a card in the box describing each product, where you can get it, and how much it costs. They usually add some promo codes too!

So cute! In this box we received an adorable owl insulated lunch box, a book about colors with Andy Warhols pictures,

A perfect sized snack container that won't leak or spill from innobaby

Stain and odor remover from DePee, haven't tried this yet but I've heard great things about it!

We also got plums yogurt mish mash in spinach and apple, but little one sucked it down and ran off with it before I had the chance to take a picture :)

Yay! My first twist band box came in today! Super quick shipping! Cute box!

I received the Angela headband set which consists of 3 neutral colors, white, black, and beige. I was excited to get headbands because: 1) I am a headband junkie! And 2) I've heard a lot of people saying the only get the hair ties.

I also received the Black Dots hair tie set with a black, a white, and a polka dot hair tie. I love the polka dot one!!!

And last but not least, a HOT pink Beauty Bound hair tie, it's seriously bright! I love it!

I love all the twistbands, I received but I am hoping to get some colorful ones in next months box.

So after waiting all day yesterday and checking the door every 5 minutes, my box finally arrived!

Cute! Nice presentation, and I like how all the items match!

Here is a simple project I did for my daughters first birthday party:
All you need is a wire hanger, some ribbon, and embellishments (optional)

I untwisted my wire hanger and shaped it into a circle, you could do any shape your little heart desires.
Then I cut all my ribbon into pieces about 4-6" long, depending on the width of the ribbon, wider ribbon needs to be longer and thin ribbon can be shorter.
I tied all the ribbon pieces onto the wire hanger with just a simple overhand knot and froofed it to my liking.
I painted my plaque that was a piece of scrap particle board and added the cute print on the end. I bought that print from minted with a gift card I received from one of my Citrus Lane boxes :)

Subscription Boxes

Subscription boxes have become popular! They are not necessarily new, just exciting and different. You know when your parents used to be in a wine of the month club...I don't, my parents drank their wine from a box, haha just kidding! No but seriously, monthly subscriptions (besides magazines) have been around for ages.

I am not HUGE on makeup, I mean I do own some, but for as long as I can remember I was never one of those girls who wore it everyday. Don't get me wrong, I care about how I look, I mean obviously, I have a sexy husband to prove it, but he loves the fact that I dont wear makeup and that works for us :) That being said, I still love skincare and beauty products. Now there are tons of "beauty" boxes out there so I have been on the search for some different ones.

I currently have my little one subscribed to Citrus Lane, we have been getting it for about 3 months now and I am very pleased with it! They send you an assortment of toys, food, and stuff for mom for $25 a month. And what they send is always worth well over $25. You can also buy 3-month, 6-month (1boxfree), and 12-month (2boxesfree) subscriptions. I think its totally worth it! So check 'em out!

Now for the new ones! I decided I ~~deserved needed~~ wanted some boxes in the mail for myself, not that I don't get enough! My wonderful mother, grandmother, and aunts are constantly sending me packages :) especially after the little one arrived. So here is what I recently subscribed to:
The most expensive but most addicting one is Little Black Bag. For $50 a month, or $60 one time, you pick out one name brand item from their site, add it to your "bag" and they add 2-5 more items, you then have 7 days to trade your items for things you want or you can keep what they gave you and have it shipped immediately. If you want something specific then it takes some time and patience to get it, but its totally worth it! I have 3 days left to trade so, I am sticking it out and I will show you what my first bag brings as soon as I get it! Can't wait!

The next one I signed up for is twistband I did this one because they had an amazing deal on Plum District for a 3-month subscription for only $15 plus $3.95 shipping. Now this is a simple one, once a month they send 5-8 of their cute hair ties and/or headbands to you. And since I am always wearing my hair up, I lose quite a few hair ties. I will show the box as soon as it arrives.

The next new one is from Pink Olive which sells cute whimsical gifts for home and baby. Their Olive Box is brand new and will launch this fall, but if you hurry and sign up now they will give you a major discount on the trial box. $15 plus free shipping! They plan on charging $24 plus shipping when they initially start. I am excited to see what this one has in store!

This next one I had a promo code for so thats why I signed up for it and unless it wows me then I will probably cancel after the first box. Lost Crates has just teamed up with Joy The Baker to send out a monthly box that is I'm hoping, full of goodies! This one is actually already on its way! Maybe I'll get it tomorrow!

Ok sorry about such a long post but I am very excited about these new boxes! So here is the last one, I found it through this awesome blogger and for my first box it was only $5! It is from Jewel Box and they pick a custom piece of jewelry for you based on your style, and if I read it right I get 2 pieces instead of one! There are 5 different style types: Urban Sophisticate, Boho Glamour, Free Spirit, Classic Chic, and Vintage Finds. Or the Mystery Box!

Before & Afters

Since I am just now starting to blog, I have a small collection redo jobs that I want to share with you! I don't have any pictures of the process, but I recall them all very well so if you have any questions please feel free to ask!
First one is nothing too exciting but was totally worth it, we recovered 6 chairs for my mother-in-laws dining room table. She has 6 grandkids and the chairs were originally covered in microfiber...easy to clean but not near as easy as vinyl!

Next is one that was quite simple, found some cute but used black flats that fit at our salvation army and sprayed them with Krylon Glitter blast then added some gems, still not too crazy about the gems, I think I will replace them with some cute matching brooches, if I can find any!

This one was way easy too, I like easy. This is our office chair up at work and it was desperate, silly me forgot to take a decent before picture, I get too excited! But you can imagine that the top was just as ugly as the bottom. Since I knew where the chair came from and we would be using it, not selling it or gifting it, there was was no reason to discard the old fabric and foam so I simply just covered it with the new fabric. The fabric was bought at a garage sale for $1!

Now we are getting to my favorites! These shoes were originally from target and I wore them quite a bit as is. But everyone always seems to be getting some cute toms or other slip ons so I decided I would make some one of a kind by using Texas Tech fabric and sparkle mod podge of course! I also used ribbon to line the edge. And I love how each toe is different!

This one was done for a friend, I love how it turned out but it was not easy! Primed and painted a few coats of white, then made a make-shift projector (real ones are expensive!) and drew the zebra and carefully painted in the stripes black, with several coats. Then drew the word beyond on it in lime green, it's a saying between her and her lovey.

This could not have been any easier!
Step one: take old ugly forest green lawn chair and spray with krylon fusion red, no priming necessary!
Step two: take old pillow, that no one would even glance at in your garage sale, and some 50 cent (the monetary value, not the rapper) fabric and make an easy envelope pillowcase for it, I didn't even hem the edge, it's an outside pillow and no one will see it anyways :)
That's it! Stare at your front porch and oooo and ahhh at how much cuter it looks! Now contemplate painting your front door with white polka dots to get all matchy matchy...don't tell your husband about that last part!

These are probably my favorite! For now anyways. I really wanted some hand painted toms from etsy, but for $80 at the cheapest, I couldn't make myself do it. So after searching everywhere in a town nearby, I finally came across these cute leopard toms-ish like shoes. Found them at Shoe Carnival for $24. I had the rhinestones, acrylic paint, and brushes on hand, so I scoured the Internet for some cute ideas and finally came up with this, they are not perfect, nor do they even closely resemble the ones I've seen on etsy and pinterest, but they are mine and I love them.

1st reupholstering

So I actually accomplished my first reupholstering job a few weeks ago but I am just now getting around to blogging about it. I don't have any pictures of the process but I will try my best to explain it.
First I started out with a $2 chair from a thrift shop here in town, they had a whole slew of these ugly vinyl turquoise-y chairs so I picked the one with the best legs since I knew I would be recovering it anyways!
I'm not gonna lie, it took longer than I imagined, but it was totally worth it in the end!
I pulled out the furniture tacks and every annoying staple, removed all the pieces (cardboard, wooden seat, foam, etc.) then I primed and spray painted all the metal, and replaced the foam and fabric. Any questions? Just ask! :)

I am way new to writing my own blog, but have been obsessed with following others so I thought I would give it a shot... I know I know, not everyone who has a computer can create a blog, but I figured it was worth a shot, right? I hope so!

I am a wife and stay at home mother/ part time massage therapist. Never thought being a mom would be my full time job, but I love it! I like to sew, bake, scrapbook, paint furniture, thrift shop, and all other crafty shenanigans! And I have also recently been sucked in to the lovely world of subscription boxes! Hope you enjoy!
