GALEŠNJAK OR ISLAND OF LOVE

Galešnjak, the small heart shaped island is located in Pašman channel of the Adriatic, between island of Pašman and the town of Turanj on mainland Croatia. It was first recorded in the 19th century by Napoleons cartographer Charles-Francois Beautemps-Beaupre, who included it in his atlas of Dalmatian coast.

The island has the surface area of 0,132 km 2, with its beaches measuring 1,55 km in length. The highest point of the island is 36 m above the sea level. Today this island is privatly owned and contains only wild plants and trees.

The interesting story from 12. century says that the pope Alexander III. accompanied by his fleet sailed from south Italy to the Venice. On that occasion he passed trought Pašman channel and fleet stopped between islands Ričul and Galešnjak, from where he sended his messenger to Zadar to announce his visit to that town.

Galešnjak became world famous in 2008, when Google Earth declared it as one of the few hearth shaped natural phenomena.

NATIONAL PARK PLITVICE LAKES

Plitvice lakes are first Croatia’s National park established in 1949 and located roughly halfway between the capital city of Zagreb and Zadar on the coast.

The park was inscribed on the UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1979.

Plitvice have the sixteen lakes which are formed by natural dams of travertine and are separated into upper and lower lakes.

The sixteen lakes are all interconnected and follow the water flow.
The national park Plitvice are the world famous for it`s lakes arranged in cascades.

Around lakes are located eight km of wooden walking trails available to visitors.

The forests in the park are home to many rare bird species.

This place is beautiful and definitely must be seen.

The Zadar area is a well developed tourist region with some 50 settlements and extending across more than 1200 km of coastline, off which are about 150 islands, isles and reefs, countless coves and idyllic tiny beaches amid unspoilt nature, washed by clean, crystal-clear blue seas.
Region Zadar extends from island Pag on north to town Drage on the south and has been inhabitated since antiquity and has many historic monuments and antique settlements.
There are three national parks in Zadar region: NP Kornati, NP Krka, NP Paklenica and two parks of nature: Telascica and Lake Vransko.
In the Zadar region there are many luxury hotels, apartments, private accommodation and camps...
In the close vicinity of Zadar is the city of Nin, the place in which the Croatian state was born and Croatia's oldest royal seat.

Zadar is the Mediterranean city in northern Dalmatia, fifth largest city in Croatia with a population of 75,082 people and one of the most beautiful Croatian cities.
It is one of the tourist centers of Croatia.
Zadar has many historical buildings, modern buildings and cultural events.
It is first croatian town which had university in 1396.
Zadar became the capital of Dalmatia as far back as the 7th century and held on to the title until 1918.

Croatian sea is Adriatic and this sea is the most beautiful sea on the world with more than one thousand islands and bays.

Croatia (Hrvatska), officially the Republic of Croatia, is a unitary democratic parliamentary republic   in Europe at the crossroads of Central Europe, the Balkans, and the Mediterranean. Its capital and largest city is Zagreb. The country is divided into 20 counties and the city of Zagreb. Croatia covers 56,594 square kilometres (21,851 square miles) and has diverse, mostly continental and Mediterranean climates. Croatia's Adriatic Sea coast contains more than a thousand islands.
The country's population is 4.29 million, most of whom are Croats, with the most common religious denomination being Roman Catholicism.

The name of Croatia derives from Medieval Latin Croātia, from Dux Croatorum ("Duke of Croatians") attested in the Branimir Inscription, itself a derivation of North-West Slavic *Xrovat-, by liquid metathesis from proposed Common Slavic *Xorvat-, from proposed Proto-Slavic *Xarwāt- (*Xъrvatъ) or *Xŭrvatŭ (*xъrvatъ). The origin of the name is uncertain, but is thought to be a Gothic or Indo-Aryan term assigned to a Slavic tribe.
The oldest preserved record of the Croatian ethnonym *xъrvatъ is of variable stem, attested in the Baška tablet in style zvъnъmirъ kralъ xrъvatъskъ ("Zvonimir, Croatian king").

Croatia is located in Central and Southeast Europe

Most of Croatia has a moderately warm and rainy continental climate.
Mean monthly temperature ranges between −3 °C (27 °F) (in January) and 18 °C (64 °F) (in July). The coldest parts of the country are Lika and Gorski Kotar where snowy forested climate is found at elevations above 1,200 metres (3,900 feet). The warmest areas of Croatia are at the Adriatic coast and especially in its immediate hinterland characterized by the Mediterranean climate, as the temperature highs are moderated by the sea.

Croatia can be subdivided between a number of ecoregions because of its climate and geomorphology, and the country is consequently one of the richest in Europe in terms of biodiversity. There are four types of biogeographical regions in Croatia—Mediterranean along the coast and in its immediate hinterland, Alpine in most of Lika and Gorski Kotar, Pannonian along Drava and Danube, and continental in the remaining areas.

In Croatia economy dominate tourism and the bulk of the tourist industry is concentrated along the Adriatic Sea coast.
