DTC Ladies Day at the Dublin Horse Show!

As little girls we all look up to movie stars. For me I always wanted to be a mixture of Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly. I loved Marilyn's liner flick, red lip and bright smile but Grace Kelly exuded a class with her style that instilled in me a deep love and appreciation for timeless vintage. Fashion is like one big circle but the repetition isn't necessarily a drag when little tweaks and nods to the old mixed with modern design is a marriage made in heaven. For the Dublin Horse Show Dundrum Town Centre Ladies Day I was very proud to collaborate with Harvey Nichols by wearing a stunning staple from next season's collection from Pinko. My teal belted two piece had a rust chevron stripe, felt very 1940's but more importantly made me feel like a million dollars. For me confidence is key when attending an event or representing a brand.

I have a pretty hectic work schedule - I love being freelance and my own agent but I know it's not for everybody. I juggle styling shoots and TV adverts, covering events, working in radio, blogging, teaching and personal shopping in Dundrum! There is no personal shopping in Dundrum during the Summer with the sales in full swing but I'm available again from mid September for autumnal wardrobe updates, etc. and appointments are already filling up well in advance which is really exciting! Straight after mingling at the Dublin Horse Show I had to quickly change and dash from the RDS to teach a masterclass at the LA College of Creative Arts where I have recently joined their team as a Fashion Styling Tutor. It was an open evening where I talked all about my experiences in the industry, my love of fashion, blogging, from catwalk to high street, the importance of PR and how to build a career in the business. I styled my model Sarah in a casual 70's look to showcase a blend of high street and vintage. Well I'm going to go and pack my suitcase as I have some travelling to do tomorrow and a really big work week ahead. I spent the weekend with family and it was so fun to see my sisters and chill out. It was a great way to wind down after a manic few days.

Voga in the park with Sure!

I had a really fun morning yesterday - I was invited to a Voga class in Merrion Square park in central Dublin by the cool folks over at Thinkhouse PR. Voga is an energetic mix of Yoga and Voguing to eighties tunes so we all had great fun throwing shapes and getting our pose on with House of Voga founder Juliet Murrell.

Typically for a seriously physical activity I dressed waaaaay too warm - (in my defence my window view was deceptive) so thankfully seeing as it was a Sure deodorant event some spritzing of their newest range helped me feel human in the sunshine. It is the new motion sense deodorant so it was fun to test it in such a sunny high energy environment. By the end I was pleasantly surprised as I love when spray deodorants have a fresh but mild scent so it doesn't take away from your perfume.
I will be truthful - I do my best to be active but today I'm feeling a bit achy after the high intensity Voga workout! In saying that if I could do it every Saturday morning I would! It hasn't launched in Ireland yet but I think so many people would relish the combination of a bit of craic teamed with a workout that gives real results. Juliet is an instructor to the stars & she's a favourite of Millie Mackintosh among many others. With Juliet's radiance I can understand why! She is literally my life goals. All the attendees were contemplating a dash to American Apparel to get on her leopard & polka dot print style wavelength!

It felt very cosmopolitan to be exercising in the park - like when you watch retro Sex & the City and Carrie is doing some trendy workout while doling out relationship advice. I tried to chat to my friend Rebecca of Haute so Fabulous on the mat across from me but I soon realised that it was easier to communicate via voguing instead! At the end we all felt like goddesses!

After all the activity I strolled home to Ballsbridge in the sunshine and went to my local 'The Bridge 1859' for a bit of brunch. A 'salmocado' was literally the brunch of champions! It's a halved English muffin with beef tomato, smoked salmon, poached eggs and just a little bit of avocado hollandaise with a flat white coffee. Literally heaven. I love a good loner lunch when you can have a feast and potter on your phone or read a magazine.

My Summer Day Out in Kildare Village!

It all began with balloons and an edible invite to attend a stylish trip via a private train to Kildare Village.... I made sure to photograph the pink iced biscuit invitation before nibbling away the specifics!

I met my fellow stylists and bloggers amidst the girliest setting imaginable! I made an effort not to be fashionably late for fear of missing the Kildare Village express. There were giant macaroons on the platform and the friendly KV team greeting the assembly of fashion fiends. We all left Houston Station in Dublin toasting pink moët which I personally think is a pretty cool way to kickstart a press trip. There was a lovely atmosphere and everyone was very excited to see each other. My two besties Madeline of Live Blog Repeat and Rebecca of Haute So Fabulous were also invited so we all had such a laugh together on our 'Summer Day Out'. Many of you guys who follow me on snapchat (username: lauramullett23) will have witnessed a lot of the day's excitement first hand!

I was gifted a pretty ribboned pink box that included a Kildare Village voucher, champagne, a cake pop, macaroons, sweets and some discount cards. It's great time to pop out to Kildare Village as with the sales fully fledged it is an opportune time to nab a bargain.

On arrival we pottered over to the VIP Lounge and then me and the girls went exploring! Top Irish illustrator Conor Merriman did an illustration of me while we were in the VIP Lounge which I will treasure. Conor is so talented, he does the sketch within minutes and adds pops of colour to his very distinctive sketching style.

My first stop in Kildare Village was 'The Kooples' where I fell irrevocably in love with a sequinned tuxedo blazer. It is even more spectacular than it sounds! It was reduced from €340 to €100 so I bought it in a medium with my voucher. The clean cut structure of 'The Kooples' is why their statement pieces are not only timeless but incredibly chic. My magpie tendencies went in to overdrive as soon as I stepped in to the store.

I popped in to Ted Baker to play dress up after clearing out 'The Kooples'. The sales (particularly on accessories and dresses in Ted Baker) are really good. My muted metallic infatuation continued as I tried on a chic tailored green blazer. On the day I wore Freddy Jeans, lace up heels and a monochrome top. I think a simple outfit like this is ideal when you're trying on blazers and jackets as you can get a clear picture of what is a true investment piece.

I had such a lovely day in Kildare Village and I want to thank their fabulous PR team for treating us like queens! I look forward to returning before their 50% expansion in November - but truth be told.. with their new Gucci store opening next week it's looking like my return may be a lot sooner! :)

My latest obsession: My Fearne Cotton x Littlewoods Ireland head-to-toe look!

I shot a style diary featuring the fruits of the latest Fearne Cotton Collaboration with Littlewoods!
The collection makes Fearne's effortless boho vibe accessible to the masses at really reasonable price points. In honour of the lady herself I sported milkmaid plaits and a summery make up vibe that worked well with the key Fearne Cotton pieces for the shoot!

What I have been hunting down for literally years is an embellished pair of roll up mom jeans. I am a size 10-12 and a skinny fit is usually more flattering for my body shape than the slightly boyfriend fit. Regardless of logic the old school Levis shape was what I coveted... lo and behold my dream pair the 'Fearne Cotton Gem detail Boyfriend jeans' are pictured above and are a steal at €39 from Littlewoods Ireland. The embellishment isn't flimsy and well sown in and I particularly like the length of the jeans. They look cute with a band tee and converse or with a pair of heels and a waterfall blouse tucked in. They come up nice and mid rise too so they sit at a comfortable point at my midsection elongating my legs just a tad!

I teamed the jeans with the 'Fearne Cotton lace blouse' and wore a little cami underneath. I love the high neck as I like the contrast between prim boho and then the mom jean silhouette. The blouse can be worn loose at the neck as I wore it but if you want a more dramatic look you can use spray starch on the collar to achieve a more structured style. I went for a size 12 which I would highly recommend if you have a bust. I'm a firm believer in tucking things in to tie the look together and for myself I feel all the more dressy and finished. The Fearne Cotton collection for Littlewoods collection is very true to size. The blouse is €47.

Another distinct Fearne Cotton style staple is the mule which she has seamlessly brought in to her collection for Littlewoods Ireland. Cotton tackled the trend with gusto by going for a mesh leather and suede combination which adds that party twist just south of your ankle. I think they are very flattering on the foot and would look gorgeous with one of Fearne's flirty floral summer dresses aswell as leather look pants or jeans.

The 'Nola cut out mule sandals' are priced at €35. Now is an opportune to raid the Littlewoods Ireland sale as the Fearne Cotton pieces I'm lusting over have been slashed in price.

This collaboration is something that wasn't just exciting for me as a stylist but as a lover of wearable fashion with a bit of edge.

What I've been up to!

Hey dolls! So the Summer is in full swing and I'm loving every second. I have been keeping up my health kick and hitting the gym. I also started taking an amazing potent tonic which I will be reviewing on the blog next week. I'm enjoying making plans involving both work and play as I approach my next adventure in my fashion career. I am now a fashion styling tutor for the LA College of Creative Arts! It is so exciting to join such a talented team. I will be teaching predominantly in Dublin but also in London too. I will post details about the upcoming courses on Lipstick Gossip.

I recently took part in a really cool campaign for Kildare Village - I was excited to be chosen as a select group of fashion folk and bloggers got the opportunity! We got to pick a pair of designer sunnies from Kildare Village and post to instagram in sync. I thought the #Flashtagram idea was pretty brilliant and I enjoyed checking out everyone's choices through checking out the hashtag. I selected a beautiful pair by Dolce and Gabbana as pictured below. I am heading to a press event next week in KV and I can't wait to see all their latest offerings.

I just finished up doing my personal shopping in Dundrum Town Centre for the Summer as the sales are in full swing. I really miss my clients already - you form great bonds when you get talking to someone over the space of 2 hours and it's a lovely feeling when the same people book in time and time again. It's like seeing an old friend but you have a different season of trends to experiment with! It nearly feels funny browsing the shops at the moment with a Butlers coffee and shopping for me and me alone! I truly feel that being a personal shopper part time as well as styling my shoots has given me a great balance and a deeper knowledge and instinct about women's shapes. It has been challenging too but in a very positive way.

Let’s get personal: Time to tone up

Hi guys!

I made a decision recently to do a little overhaul - a needed one. I absolutely love my job but I realised that in order to keep up to speed & give it my absolute all I needed to hit the ‘refresh’ button. I felt like I needed an outlet or a hobby or something physical (besides shopping) to kick myself in to gear.

Truth be told I’ve wanted to tone up and mind myself a bit better. I found myself eating all the wrong things at the wrong times on the go and my Diet Coke & hazelnut latte addiction was getting out of hand! Procrastination has been my enemy because I’ve been working about six days a week but I think when something is important to you - you make the time. I’ve come to terms with the truth that to look after other people you have to look after yourself first and foremost! The things I’ve been inclined to reach for are a comfort thing and haven’t been giving me the fuel I need.

In the past 4 weeks I have lost half a stone! Now that may not seem like much but to the 5 foot 2.5 inch me even a small loss feels major. The jeans dance is becoming more of a wriggle. Weirdly enough the first place I noticed slimming down was my face - a huge part is sleep, drinking more water and getting the proper nutrients but I find I have more facial definition recently.

I’m feeling more confident and I’m sleeping a bit better with a slightly modified diet and new exercise regimen. What makes my life a bit easier is that luckily I can be stubborn so if I go to the gym and do my programme I won’t come home and eat crap because actually going and being active boosts my willpower. I’ve joined Energie Fitness in Ballsbridge and I really like it - I have privacy but I also great guidance, trainers and with my membership I can attend unlimited classes including yoga and bootcamps.

Especially as of late I am so excited for where my career is going - recently I have found great happiness in having more TV & filming opportunities, collaborating with huge brands and by having features written about me, my personal style and also my styling in the press which isn’t something I ever thought could happen! Honestly it does inspire me to put my best foot forward in every aspect. I think we all want to be the very best version of ourselves.

I am very excited about my fitness journey and will be blogging all my updates on Lipstick Gossip!

Hello Summer! Get the look with Littlewoods Ireland.

This year so far has been a whirlwind. I can't believe that it's May already. I'm so happy that Summer is coming and there will be longer evenings, sunshine and new adventures. I've found myself touched by serious wanderlust as of late and I'm contemplating city breaks and some exploring in the coming months.

2015 has been a spectacular year in many ways! I moved in to my new apartment in Ballsbridge - little did I ever think that I would get to live in an area I've always loved. Since I started blogging four years ago whenever I had events in the vicinity I enjoyed popping into coffee shops & restaurants for loner lunches to get some writing done. Now these places are my local. My styling gigs this year so far have been really fun and challenging which is what I have been striving for.

A project that I adored working on was for Littlewoods Ireland recently. I styled top models Yomiko Chen and Sarah Morrissey in glamorous chic swimwear for a photoshoot and also for an Xposé slot that aired on TV3.

The brands I used included the Coleen Rooney, Michelle Keegan for Lipsy London & Myleene Klass collections. A lot of people are seeking funky kaftans, bright neon bikinis and flattering one pieces for their breaks away this Summer. Channelling the Marbella/ Ibiza glam vibe adds a little something extra to your holiday experience. You can't help but feel a million dollars! One of my favourite looks was Sarah rocking this Forever Unique high waist berry bandage bikini featured on Xposé. We were filming on the roof of the Morgan Penthouse - such a cool location and luckily we had blue skies to add to the holiday vibe.

I really enjoyed doing the Xpose slot - it was great to chat to Glenda all about what flatters different shapes and the bargain buys that can be snapped up from Littlewoods Ireland. I wore a South floral print lightweight Kimono that was a steal at €17 teamed with ripped skinnies.

Right after filming the Xpose slot I styled a cover shoot for the Sunday World Magazine showcasing some more beach chic bikinis and one pieces. One of which that is super flattering and looks stunning with a kimono is this black fringed Coleen beauty! It is the perfect combination of sexy and classy and emphasises the empire line so cinches at the perfect point of the waist. It is €39 & also comes in hot pink. You can shop it here

I adore Yomiko in the below Resort Neon Halter Swimsuit pictured below. It is so feminine and Summery and the splashes of colour look really pretty against the skin. The cut out detail adds a stylish twist. This bestseller is €34 & you can shop it here.

The below looks are something that I would happily wear feeling effortlessly glammed up from beach to bar. The art of layering in this instance is a simple one. Both models are wearing the swimsuits that I styled them in above. On the left Sarah is wearing a sheer 'Coleen Embroidered Beach Maxi Dress' over her Coleen black fringed swimsuit. It is €39 and still available. The Miss KG heels that Sarah is wearing are chunky, tribal and everything you want in a stylish comfy shoe! Viviscal Voices - Voice of the Solution.

For the past few weeks I've been working on a campaign I feel very passionate about. I styled six inspiring women head to toe for a campaign for award winning hair care brand Viviscal.

Zarah, Karen, Amy, Jessica, Trish and Natalia all took the award-winning Viviscal supplements and their transformations are unbelievable. You will be seeing the 'Viviscal Voices' on TV and in the press in the very near future discussing their journey.

I have always had quite thin hair so after seeing the girls during our personal styling appointments showing me 3 inch sprouts of regrowth I was intrigued. This had happened after taking the 90 day challenge. I had heard great things but I didn't know that taking Viviscal could take such affect instantaneously! But I suppose there is that age old adage of looking after yourself on the inside that means you will be outwardly looking your best. I am going to start taking the supplements and doing the 90 day challenge so I will keep you guys posted about my progress.

When styling the six 'Voices of Viviscal' I wanted to make sure that I got to know the ladies' personalities. I believe when dressing someone it's about working within the bounds of their comfort zone too and making sure that whatever you dress the client in that they feel not only beautiful but that their shape is complemented. Feeling at ease is super important.

We had an amazing photoshoot & filming this week shot by the fab Hazel Coonagh in the Dylan Hotel where all the ladies were wearing their outfits and their hair and make up was done to perfection. It was so brilliant to see how much each individual's confidence has soared because of their transformations. I had so much fun doing all the styling - I aimed for everyone to look individually chic but also in terms of colour pallet to exude glamour collectively. At the end of our pamper day with filming & shooting there was celebrations with all the friends and families for the big reveal. It was such a special day.

Seventies Revival x Xpose Magazine

Lately life has felt like an absolute whirlwind. In a lovely way. And as the days start to get longer I get more and more excited to spend Summer in Dublin. There is no place I would rather be!
I've been working a lot more on my fashion styling & journalism path than ever before. I was so excited to feature in the March issue of Xpose Magazine rocking my 1970's style and giving some tips. The pictures were shot by my good friend & amazing photographer Evan Doherty.

As a Fashion Stylist, Blogger & Personal Shopper a big part of my life is keeping my finger on the pulse - after all fashion is like one big circle! The seventies is back in full swing after being reignited last season by high end brands like Miu Miu & Giambattista Valli. I love seeing these catwalk to streetstyle trends interpreted by the masses. Thigh high boots, textured minis, fringing and flares have re-emerged. ‘It Girl’ Alexa Chung’s ‘AC for AG’ collection is my current craving. It’s flirty, fun and effortless just like Alexa. My personal style is an eclectic blend of vintage, designer and high street. I’m wearing a light denim off the shoulder AC for AG dress which is a versatile little investment at €245 from BT2. It can be dressed up & down. My pearl necklace is Chanel and my loafers are ‘Betty Jackson Black’ teamed with a John Rocha Electric navy patent bag both from Debenhams. My fringed brown suede jacket was a steal at €70 from online Galway retailer Cotton Face Vintage. It’s perfect for festivals and channelling your inner Lana Del Rey. My gold costume rings are from Aldo - my one stop shop for cute boxy clutches and jewellery. My top tip for embracing the seventies trend is giving it a contemporary twist. Mixing glossy patent and bright denim adds a chic finish. When seeking the perfect 70's jacket and retro mini dress I find consignment & online vintage stores like Nine Crows are my ultimate hunting ground.

The Body Shop: Threading Review!

I had a really great eyebrow threading experience this week! I got my eyebrows threaded by the lovely Jaspreet in the Body Shop in Dundrum. I am quite blonde and very sensitive to tints, waxing and threading but what impressed me about my appointment was Jaspreet's technique.

Jaspreet sanitised the area while asking me about what I was looking for in terms of shape.
I love to have my brows tidied up & shapely but quite natural for day to day. I'm inclined fill them in with light brown pencil and eyeshadow applied with a slanted brush for evening time and when I want a stronger look to frame my eye make up. I pulled the skin taut as Jaspreet threaded and walked out eleven minutes later delighted with the shape.

I think having your brows threaded is the most long lasting solution while accentuating your natural arches. Jaspreet was swift and had great attention to detail. I was really satisfied with the result as I know it sounds very prissy but there is nothing more soul destroying than have your eyebrows too thin or uneven. Threading is an art form in itself and you need to go somewhere that you know will cater to your wishes and not give you a scouse brow against your will.

The price points are very reasonable for the service in the Body Shop. It is only €15 and you can book over the phone or they also take walk ins and are accommodating about slotting clients in same day. There's also 'The Body Shop' on Grafton Street, in Liffey Valley & on Upper Liffey Street near the Ilac shopping centre. I would highly recommend them.

What I've been up to!

I am already loving 2015 copious amounts! I went skiing in Andorra, had the nicest macaroons in Toulouse and I have a lovely new celebrity client - Puskas award finalist & footballer Stephanie Roche! I also officially moved in to my new apartment in Ballsbridge. The icing on the cake is that I am back doing personal shopping in Dundrum Town Centre and taking bookings on Friday's and Saturdays. The service stops during the sales so I took a post Christmas skiing trip and savoured some time in the snow. I've had 8 very successful and fun appointments since I've come back.
I had a new Mum who wanted to inject some comfy stylish separates into her wardrobe, I had a lady who needed some slick workwear as she was up for a promotion and wanted to make a special impression and needed a confidence boost. Another client wanted to take more of a parisian vibe in terms of her style. Some people book 2 hours with me and others take 3 hours so they can also have an extra bit of time for style tutoring and to learn what brands are a good fit for them.

I really like the fact that I can independently decide what shops to bring my clients to. Regardless of budget there are so many options for people which I love. I can help someone find the best slimming undies in Penneys, cute casual pieces in Zara or the perfect sequinned ballgown in House of Fraser.

I'm feeling rejuvenated after the little break away. The fresh air and yummy cuisine was unbelievable. I've really enjoyed working with Stephanie Roche as her personal stylist over the past month. The day I was catching my flight to Toulouse the papers came out and I checked out the first shoot I worked with her on which was a fashion shoot for the Sunday World.

It was my first shoot of the new year on the 2nd of January - what a great way to kick off 2015. The looks ranged from soft and casual from River Island to glam and sexy from Starla Dress Rental and I used some pretty accessories from Macdoll Boutique. I used my favourite shoe haunt Buffalo Dublin on Exchequer St for the footwear. I love their glossy pointed courts. I nabbed a gorgeous berry red pair for the holiday season.

I styled Stephanie Roche in the 'Sia' dress from Folkster as pictured below for her big homecoming! I fell in love with the dress - it reminded me of something Blair Waldorf would wear on Gossip Girl and when teamed with Stephanie's blonde crop, tanned complexion and long pins it was a killer combination. I'm a big fan of Folkster and the way they fuse boho, glam, bridal and homewares all under one roof and the fact you can shop online as well as in store in Templebar makes life a little easier.

Another style of dress that looked really hot on Stephanie was this red lace detailed bodycon from my favourite dress rental boutique Starla Dress Rental. I styled Stephanie in Starla as she needed something slinky and glam for opening a new club 'The Voodoo Rooms' in Cork.

Stephanie looked so pretty in pink in Helen Cody at the Ballon D' Or that she was was literally the belle of the ball.

One dress that has flown off the shelves is this River Island strapless lilac fitted midi which I styled Stephanie in for the SWAI Banquet. I also styled her boyfriend Dean Zambra in a dapper River Island suit!

I've just moved in to my new central apartment and I'm absolutely loving my new little girly pad.
As soon as I got off the plane from Toulouse it was straight back to work sorting outfits for celebrity clients, attending appointments and sussing collaborations for my blog and I'm so excited to be getting back in to radio after a little break away.

I kind of missed the chaos of working 6 days a week - it became my routine. This week I was photographed for Xpose Magazine by the amazing Evan Doherty. I cannot wait to share the snaps. I collaborated with BT2 which was fab by using the off the shoulder denim dress from ACxAG from the new Alexa Chung collection which has just landed in BT2 on Grafton Street & in Dundrum.

2 days ago RSVP Magazine contacted me regarding featuring me as one of their 'Women of Style' which is really flattering and an honour. They will be interviewing me about my career, life, travel and inspiration. I have been really sick for the past 3 days and today is the first day I'm actually feeling human after 72 hours of living off Vanilla Complan. Not very appetising.. After feeling like a Zombie for 3 days I enjoyed a strong morning coffee at the Grand Canal Dock. It's so beautiful down there.

One thing that really struck me recently has been the fantastic support from local media where I grew up in Enniscorthy, specifically Niamh Devereux in 'The Echo'. Niamh wrote this feature about me which was a really nice surprise that I was very touched by.

I have loads of exciting shoots coming up! Many of which I am styling for different publications and others which will feature some of my collaborations with really cool brands, make up artists, hair stylists & photographers. This week I attended the launch of Daylight 44 - A new studio run by my two fabulous friends top photographer Aaron Hurley & fashion stylist extraordinaire Brian Conway. They are two super talented creatives and I'm so thrilled for them about their new venture. I had a ball at their opening with my friend Madeline - also a close friend of the boys. The studio is gorgeous & we were all treated to silver cake pops & mini cupcakes washed down with cocktails at the opening.

I had the pleasure of meeting and having a make up class with the phenomenal Yves Saint Laurent European make up artist Fred Letailleur earlier this week! Fred was giving me the lowdown on working on the visage of top model and fashion darling Cara Delevingne! He also taught me how to do the YSL Cara eye which I will be trying out and showcasing step by step in my YSL x Lipstick Gossip blog post.

Catch up: New Beginnings!

Lately I have been ridiculously happy both work wise & in general. I feel like 2014 has been a really special year in many ways & I am excited for what 2015 will have in store :-)

I try to be a positive person even when things get hectic and challenging I always make an effort to celebrate the little victories! I suppose Christmas at home with family gives you that warm fuzzy feeling. My Christmas dinner was another level of heaven!

I have missed my sisters so much because we are all working far from each other and at times it's a pain to live 2 hours away from them. Over the holidays I love having DMC's (deep meaningful conversations) and girls nights out with drinks but most of all getting to have movie days in front of the fire in PJ's together.

My boyfriend Darren just got a new job in 98FM & I'm so thrilled for him. He has such an old school radio voice - it's his accent I love hearing on the air. He also does some work with Newstalk, Setanta Sports & presents an indie music show on RTE 2xm. I think he has always been a good influence because he has always had such a passion for what he does and even though working in fashion can be a tough path he has always been so matter of fact to me that anything is possible if you want it enough.

I am moving in to a new apartment in January with my fabulous friend Aoife! The apartment is really central in Dublin and I can't wait to share a girly pad with Aoife - we always have such a laugh. I am so excited to move in with someone I can completely be myself with. It's so important to be comfortable around a flatmate :) 2015 really feels like a new beginning which is very exciting.

I have just been interviewed by Stellar Magazine about my career in Journalism & Fashion Styling to date & I can't wait to share it in the new year! This year has been special for me as I already featured in a big 5 pg spread in Stellar and never in a million years saw that coming. I really love working as a fashion stylist, journalist and in radio & I have some realllllly big projects in the pipeline for next year which I cannot wait to reveal.

In not so riveting news I just joined snapchat & as I am endeavouring to eat everything within a five mile radius (particularly leftovers) so I am enjoying how snapchats are pretty temporary!

Hey guys sorry for the delay in posting - truth be told I have been manic busy which is of course a great blessing :) I work as an editorial & commercial fashion stylist for different magazines & newspapers during the week & I am working as a personal shopper in Dundrum Town Centre on Friday's & Saturday's.
I am getting fully booked with clients which is brilliant! Dundrum is such a prestigious place to be a personal shopper and I really love my work. It is such a great feeling helping people find the perfect party dress & to be a guiding hand for someone to get a winter wardrobe update & the most flattering jeans for their shape. It has been a very exciting time for me in many ways- I recently hosted a workshop for shoe brand Moda in Pelle in Clerys!

Clerys has been a long standing heart of Dublin’s retail history for over 160 years.
I have collaborated with the landmark store in other ways as a stylist - I styled a Christmas shoot featuring all Clerys festive attire for a covershoot for the Sunday Business Post to mark their grand reopening & I recently modelled for a Stellar Magazine shoot which covered my 9-5 week in style (which will be hitting the shelves soon) & I wore some cute cashmere pieces & accessories and of course my Moda in Pelle loafers. I have also used Clerys for a lot of my commercial celebrity shoots for the Sunday World Magazine & many other publications. They have a lot of funky concessions from Miss Selfridge, Stylist Pick, Sisley, Oasis & Mango but I think their best kept secret is Moda in Pelle! I have been trying to spread the word as the styles and price points of the shoes are truly fantastic.

I am a big fan of Moda in Pelle and adore their textured pointed loafers. They look so cute with tapered cigarette trouser or opaque tights and little shift dresses in Winter. I wore the pair below to a press fashion show & I got so many compliments on them! They sold out in Clery's shortly afterward due to my social media posts which I was really excited about.

By far the coolest thing to happen me recently is that I was featured in a five page spread in the December issue of Stellar Magazine! It basically showcases 'my week in style'. I never could have imagined a few years ago I would have a massive spread in a magazine I worshipped as a teenager! Truthfully It's a real game changer and its unbelievable to hold the magazine that has Alexa Chung on the cover in your hands and see a five page spread of flattering pictures that you can be proud of!
I wanted to look myself for the shoot so I did my own hair and make up the way I usually would on a day to day basis! A liner flick, my usual pale make up - no fake lashes and a slick of lipstick. Stellar are also interviewing me this week about my career and how I got to where I am by 24 years old which I am very honoured about.

I attended the breakfast opening of 'The Body Shop' on liffey street which I really enjoyed. They have amazing ranges of his n' hers gift sets as well as a wide range make up & different shimmers that are great stocking fillers. I got a good laugh when I saw the peppermint foot cream - all I could think of was Mean Girls and Aaron Samuels saying "Your face smells like peppermint!" hahaha

Everything has been so manic lately I don’t know where to start! I have been super busy which obviously is a great thing - it just leaves me less time to blog. To me blogging is a really positive thing because I find in some cases you get to work on a really cool project or task but then it’s straight on to the next thing - so by looking back and writing about the experience you truly get to appreciate it. On my more challenging days I love looking back to the blog and reminisce about some of the really cool and exciting moments I have experienced over the past five years in the industry.

Over the past couple of months I was working predominantly on styling Madeline Mulqueen for the ‘Transformers 4: Age of Extinction’ global press tour which wrapped up recently in Tokyo. Madeline became a great friend as well as a client and we both really enjoyed working with different creatives to bring the vision of what we wanted to life. It was a massive honour to dress Madeline in an array of Irish Designers - some that are spectacular and up and coming and then others who are incredibly established. As well as using Irish designers I also used two Irish boutiques: Divine Boutique for the marbled blue AQ/AQ Dublin premiere dress, and the ‘Farrah’ dress from Starla Dress Rental for when Madeline rocked the red carpet in Miami which had the right vibe. As many of you know I am a big Starla fan. I have used their dresses for a lot of Sunday World Magazine cover shoots and also made my Starla Xpose debut earlier this Summer where I talked all about Debs season. You can catch the video here.

In other news - for the 25 year anniversary of Fair City I was delighted to style Aisling O' Neill & Karl Shiels for a cover shoot for the Sunday World Magazine to mark the monumental occasion. Actress Aisling who plays Carol in the show wows in this Mango LBD which is just €49 from Clerys teamed with glam ankle strap pointed shoes from Buffalo Dublin. Karl who plays Robbie is decked out head to toe in River Island menswear. The shoot was photographed by celebrity photographer Evan Doherty & MUA was by the fab Make up by Aimee.

My most recent styling work for the Sunday World magazine was styling Sky Sports presenter Rachel Wyse for a glamorous cover shoot and spread. Rachel was so much fun to style & is so nice! I recently went to the Curragh for the Irish Champions Weekend with my friend Aoife Walsh. We had an absolute ball! We chatted all things Dracula with the lovely Victoria Smurfit, made some bets and ate the most beautiful food with prosecco in the 'Desert King' panoramic suite. I felt like a queen! Such an amazing day. I am still obsessed with Victoria's green Louise Kennedy number. On the day Aoife wore a stunning seasonal floral dress from Coast in House of Fraser in Dundrum. My purple futuristic print dress is from 'Almost Famous' in Clerys. Princess Palles kindly let us borrow some glam hats on the day. We were delighted and had great fun picking them to match our dresses!

Now that we are fully in the clutches of Autumn I will be posting all of the high street steals and AW14 launches on the blog over the next week. Beauty blog review: Fuschia Mineral Make up!

I love make up but in many cases make up doesn't love me back! I have sensitive skin and as I hit my mid twenties I seem to be more susceptible to allergies and intolerances when it comes to beauty products and skin care. I gave myself 4 weeks to review the mineral powder by award winning Irish brand 'Fuschia Make Up' to see how it would affect my skin over that period.

The jumbo brush and mineral powder are a match made in heaven. The soft brush when swept gently in circular motions results in a soft but non caked finish. I found that it helped my complexion as it is non comedogenic so won't clog your pores. I got a lot of compliments on my make up and people asked had I been away on holidays! I moisturised well, applied a small amount of liquid foundation and concealer and applied the mineral powder gradually. I added small dustings starting with the t-zone area and built up the coverage till I had a matte finish on my forehead and chin where I didn't want a shine.

As a pale skinned gal with a typical Irish pallor I found I achieved a warmth to my skin without that dreaded orange hue. My skin looked peachy and dewy. For daytime I was light handed with the powder to get the most natural result. Being honest - I was delighted with the results and it is great to have the opportunity to support Irish brands. My skin is clearer since the 4 week starting point and looks more nourished without make up. #shopirish

Styling Madeline Mulqueen for the Transformers World Tour!

I have been really busy as of late but I have been really enjoying it! I am Madeline Mulqueen's fashion stylist for the 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' world tour. Madeline is accompanying her fiancé Jack Reynor who stars in the Summer blockbuster.

I decided to dress Madeline in a collection of truly special Irish designers. Some were selected on the basis that their designs emulated the flavour of particular cities where premieres are being held and numerous outfits have been the fruits of collaboration where the dress has been made especially for Madeline. It has been so exciting to be a part of that process discussing fabrics, textures and styles that come to life. We endeavoured to use as much Irish designers as possible due to the wealth of talent here in Ireland. I aimed for contemporary structured chic for the Asian premieres working with fantastic designers such as Colin Horgan, Geraldine O' Meara and Joanne Hynes. For the european and US premieres we have gone for modern, elegant & refined looks and have both been thrilled to team up with Zoe Carol, Geraldine O' Meara, Sean Byrne, Louise Kennedy, Natalie B Coleman and many more. It has been brilliant to work with Madeline - she has a very adventurous sense of style and looks stunning in the attire.

For the first premiere on June 19th in Hong Kong Madeline wore a custom floor sweeping gown teamed with dewy fresh make up a striking red lip and soft waves in her hair. The monochrome number was finished off with a lacy belt to tie the look together. What I love about this dress is how demure it is and how it perfectly sits on Madeline's petite frame. The dress is by Geraldine O' Meara who is a fashion designer of bespoke special occasion dresses and bridal wear and is based in Crinkill, Birr, Co.Offaly.

The second Transformers premiere took place in Shanghai on June 22nd. Madeline wore another Geraldine O' Meara design. The bespoke black and white dress has a hot pink sash that cinch's at the empire line of the dress accentuating Madeline's waist. The dress has an Audrey Hepburn vibe and is a very demure length. The model's make up and hair is very pared back which complements the style. The look was a real showstopper at the closing ceremony of the Shanghai film festival.

The third dress Madeline wore is a fashion forward Colin Horgan 'Gaia' dress for the Beijing premiere on June 23rd. I teamed the beautiful translucent number with black and white strappy sandals and a black slip underneath to keep the look contemporary and youthful. I think Madeline looks truly great in this outfit! It is very chic and the structured shape is a real nod to Transformers. Colin Horgan is a young award winning Irish designer and has been labelled a one-to-watch due to his innovative designs that are minimalist and contemporary with a futuristic element.

The next outfit Madeline will be wearing is a glamorous Louise Kennedy dress in New York city tomorrow. Myself and Madeline had a fantastic time in Louise Kennedy HQ in Merrion Sq before her departure for the Tour. The very stylish Peter talked us through the new collection and we tried out so many options one more spectacular than the other.

Madeline and I had a ball as she tried on designs by one of Ireland's most loved and established designers who has dressed everyone from Meryl Streep to Beyonce. The below picture is not the LK dress Madeline will be wearing for NYC but wow she truly does look phenomenal in it!

It has been a fantastic experience so far getting Madeline red carpet ready in the selection of top class Irish designers. I am so thrilled to have been tasked with styling her head to toe for the premieres spread over 3 continents. It has been an amazing challenge so far!! Watch this space. I hit the green carpet for 'Tarzan' the Premiere!

One of the best things about being a Journalist is working in radio. I love working covering premieres and previews on red carpets - or in this case green carpet! I covered the Tarzan Premiere in The Odeon in Point Village for In Colour on Rte 2xm. I interviewed Twilight star and 'Tarzan' himself Kellan Lutz. Kellan played tough guy Emmett in the Twilight saga but in person was soft spoken, friendly and a dream to interview. He divulged how he loved Tarzan and Disney movies like the Jungle Book as a little boy. I was accompanied by photographer Emma Ratcliffe of Travel Style Food.

The carpet was green in honour of the occasion. There were hundreds of little kids all lined up enjoying the pre- movie festivities. Fruice were giving out Juices and there were snakes and many other jungle animals on the scene. There was a very fun childlike atmosphere befitting the tone of the movie.

The Young actor is jetting all over Europe promoting Tarzan and enjoyed soaking up the sunshine on his trip to the capital: "Its good to back in Dublin. It is the first time I have been here and it isn't raining! I love it"

"Motion capture is a lot of fun because stand aside hair and make up - for a guy like myself I don't care for hair and make up and for motion picture you get to throw on the suit and act in an imaginary world that you create. There is no set dressing so you have to visualise the trees being here or a butterfly or a vine. You get to play in a fantasy world."

I asked Lutz did he love Tarzan growing up, he explained how he did and that he feels like "every little boy had those colouring books and watched Disney movies. I loved Tarzan, Mowgli from 'The Jungle Book', Simba from 'The Lion King'. I think every kid acted like an animal from their favourite movie and to be an actor and to bring these heroes to life - Tarzan being the top of that food chain for me- was very special and a childhood dream for me."

Kellan Lutz has had a quick descent into stardom with skyrocketing into the spotlight as buff vampire Emmett in The Twilight Saga. I questioned what that felt like - after working on Twilight, Hercules and Tarzan to be in demand: "I'm extremely grateful. Really blessed. You set goals for yourself in any occupation to have something to drive towards. For me as an actor I would pick roles that are iconic, that I am very passionate about. Life is very short so I would rather do work that doesn't feel like work. In the movie world it takes about 2 years for any film to come out by from start to finish. So it is a lot of time to dedicate to put yourself in a project and not in other ones. I am delighted to have brought 2 of my childhood heroes to life. I'd love to play He- Man!"

Lutz has some exciting movies he has been working on. The Expendables 3 is coming our Aug 15th. The Hollywood star is also producing a lot of action films at the minute and a passion project of his 'Redeeming Love' will be released soon.

My interview with Colin Farrell!

I covered the IFTA's for RTE 'In Colour' on 2xm

The creme de la creme of Irish talent & international stars came together in the Double Tree Hilton in Dublin to celebrate the 11th annual Irish Film and Television Awards. I was thrilled to be covering the awards for RTE radio for the fourth year running. The atmosphere was electric on the red carpet. I got up close and personal with Colin Farrell and my highlight of the awards was mid interview when he randomly invited me for a cup of tea!

I asked the Hollywood star what it was like to be back in Ireland: “It’s lovely to be home! I’m out in Kerry filming at the moment so it is great that filming coincided with the IFTA’s. I can link up with some of my old pals that I haven’t seen in a while.” Farrell joked about how close in proximity we all were! The red carpet was absolutely brimming with frenzied reporters and camera crews and I was literally brushing his chin with the microphone. But his demeanor was friendly and he was great banter to chat with. I have been a fan of Colin Farrell as an actor when he has played the role of a villain, a warrior and a gangster but him playing a father in his latest flick really tugs on your heartstrings. I questioned him about after flying all over the world and starring in fantastic films - What had that journey been like? What had it been like to go from Ballykissangel to being one of Hollywoods hottest stars? The actor smiled and replied that: “It’s another day at the office! Look - lets me and you go for a chat and a cup of tea and talk all about it..” It was the stuff that dreams are made of. It amazes me how Colin Farrell can be so down to earth. He modestly explained:
“I’m not trying to say the right thing but I have been incredibly fortunate. Big time. to do something that I love doing - to make a living, to provide for my family and travel the world. I’ve had my ups and downs in life as everyone does even the downs have been a privilege to experience..”

Ultimately he was thrilled to be part of ‘Saving Mr Banks’ and that it was nominated as it is a story with such a rich history. He admits he enjoyed playing such an interesting character working with extraordinary actress Emma Thompson on such a “sweet film.” Farrell was nominated for an IFTA for Actor in a Supporting Role in Film. ‘Saving Mr Banks’ is about how the 1964 classic Mary Poppins almost didn’t make it to the big screen. The story, based on what happened over the space of two decades tells us how Walt Disney used everything he had in order to convince British author, P.L. Travers to bring Mary Poppins to life for all to see. It is no surprise that Farrell plays a doting father and in this instance it mirrors reality. The 37 year old actor has two sons, James aged ten and Henry who is four. When I asked him what it was like being a Dad he admitted: “being a father is baffling, confounding and wonderful it’s the most important thing in my life.” He joked “I love it. It’s fun but its terribly frustrating because sometimes you just don’t know what to do!”
Colin will be shooting in Dublin for a week next month and is excited to spend some long overdue quality time with his family and friends. When it came to say goodbye to Colin after our interview I asked him could we get a snap together. His response was priceless. “Let me take the selfie I have longer arms!” It is without fail my best IFTA’s memory to date.

Same chic different day: Being a stylist.

I just got back from New York. The jet lag has gone and I miss the snowy ‘Big Apple’ but I am still basking in that Friday feeling that lasts all week long. I have come home feeling rejuvenated, revived and enthused. I'm brimming with ideas. New York Fashion Week was a phenomenal inspiration. I soaked it all in and I had so much fun in the process. I think working in this industry can be all encompassing and it genuinely can be hard to switch off and recharge your batteries. As much as I love what I do I think that it is important to watch a fashion show with your own eyes instead of feeling the compulsion to record everything through a lens. Just like it is great to walk in to a shop when you aren't working and not solely be on the hunt for accessories and attire for shoots but to just take a look. I want to experience everything firsthand. It is good to log off, log out and get some fresh air. I think straddling being a Journalist, stylist and blogger can be a tricky one but it can be done.

What has been great for me is that I have been writing a lot of freelance articles for magazines and newspapers. When I was in New York a few shoots I styled hit press but I was sent on a copy of the latest Sunday World Magazine and I felt a real genuine happiness at seeing a project I worked on grace the cover. I styled the spread but also interviewed model Madeline Mulqueen so I felt like the piece was a good representation of what I can do. It is great to see your byline in print.

I was recently interviewed by Orla Barrett, a fashion enthusiast and Journalism student for the ‘UCD College Tribune’ about the truth of what it takes to be a stylist. I did my best to be as forthright and as honest as I could be. I don’t want to lead anyone down the rabbit hole.

"There are many factors that will help you on the road to becoming a fashion stylist for press. Studying Journalism and having a broad media skill set is a great asset to have. It is important to be ambitious and have a real passion for styling. To get your foot in the door always remember the importance of manners and being humble. With the way social media is nowadays Ireland's top industry people are only a click away. Offer to assist for free on shoots, backstage at shows, learn to hone your craft and find a niche. To be a fashion stylist having industry experience is golden. Understand the format of magazines, what their patterns are, what kind of shoots are featured. Educate yourself about sizing, seasonal trends and collaborate with those who share your interest. There are many facebook groups such as 'Irish Models black book' 'Dublin models' and 'Irelands models' where you can link up with people who want to build their portfolios - but research them before you do and don't meet anyone alone. You can also set up your own shoots, use social media to your advantage and blog about the kind of shoots and trends that interest you. If you are starting out and trying to find your feet, before you have built contacts to pull attire from shops, a great idea is to utilise your own wardrobe to showcase your personal style which will speak volumes about you. Style yourself or a friend, take candid shots and talk people through via a blog where you draw inspiration from. Sign up to mailing lists of fashion websites to keep abreast of international street style and what will be hitting the high street. Truthfully you need to have a flair and real talent to get opportunities of prominence, but if you really want it and are devoted there is room for the next generation of savvy stylists to make their mark.”
