'The Mad Hatters Tea Party' in aid of Breast Cancer event!

The Mad Hatters Tea Party will be happening this Thursday on the 23rd of May in aid of Breast Cancer. In Ireland, over 2,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. Major advances in cancer care have been made in recent years.

"Thanks to vastly improved access to the right care at the right time for women with possible symptoms referred to the eight designated cancer centres, advances in treatments, and a national roll-out of the BreastCheck programme for women without symptoms, the picture for breast cancer in Ireland is far more positive than before."

The 'Mad Hatters Tea Party' is shaping up to be a very special night that will celebrate local boutiques and a very worthy cause. I have been asked to be the emcee for the night and presenter. Enniscorthy is my hometown and it is an honour to be involved with an event for a cause that is touched not only my family and friends but those of everyone participating. The event will be taking place in Enniscorthy hotspot D- Bar from 8pm.

Tickets are available from local boutiques!

D Bar is a central disco bar that has a taste of Manhattan about it. It is very sophisticated and a chic local haven for those who love good music and a vibrant atmosphere. The 'Mad Hatters Tea Party' actually coincides with the fourth anniversary of D- Bar. To celebrate the beginning of the Strawberry season in a very Wexford fashion, fresh organic strawberry mojitos will be available for attendees. Yum!

The night will feature complimentary cocktails & cupcakes, with prizes for categories such as 'best dressed lady' & 'most creative headpiece'. There will also be a raffle of preloved & vintage handbags and one lucky lady will strut away with a designer Gucci handbag! This night will be a stylish & fun celebration. Kudos to Gillian and all those in the Enniscorthy Business Association for their great efforts. DJ James Ward is on the decks for the fashion show that will showcase all the latest stylish attire and accessories available in Enniscorthy. In these times it is of vital importance to support local businesses and they have some stunning pieces to show the crowd. This glamorous event is unmissable! My Diary of this week: Radio reviewing, movie premieres, styling & writing.. and some great news!

I am so happy it is the weekend. It has been a hectic week! I am currently doing the 'In Colour' show EP reviews out in RTE radio studios for my slot weekly at 8pm on Mondays. On Tuesday morning I covered the press premiere of 'Star Trek - Into Darkness'. It was really good! It was odd being in the cinema at 10 am - the smell of popcorn was not even remotely appetising. I loved the film though - I was looking forward to the sequel and it did not disappoint. Benedict Cumberbatch plays 'John Harrison' with conviction and portrays the best self-righteous super villain I have witnessed since Javier Bardem in 'Skyfall'. On speaking to NME Cumberbatch divulged:

"I think the fact that one man’s terrorist is another man's freedom fighter, and the fact that he is a shadow self of Kirk - same coin, different sides - is what makes him interesting to play, for me."

On Tuesday evening I was invited by the Irish Film & TV Academy to a screening of 'Milo' in the Lighthouse cinema. Later on Tuesday & early on Wednesday I was catching up on writing magazine articles for 'MRU Magazine' as part of my joint radio & magazine segment. MRU Magazine venture to bring you the best news and reviews of what the scene has to offer and the crème de la crème makes the slot. Their May issue came out this week. Wednesday afternoon was spent pulling looks for a press photoshoot. I styled Irish model Lisa Nolan in this season's lingerie and swimwear from 'Ann Summers'. It was a sweltering day as I stood by the Spire on O' Connell street.

Thursday morning at 10am the shoot commenced in the penthouse in Krystle Nightclub. The photographer was Richie Buttle ! Hair & make up artistry for the shoot was by Julie Caulfield. As well as being a renowned coveted make-up artist on the scene, Julie designs the most ornate Vegas showgirl costumes and customized pieces for purchase or hire. She has kindly offered to supply something glitzy for an upcoming 'Lipstick Gossip' giveaway which will mark my 100,000 readers. The penthouse in Krystle is very vintage and an ode to the 60's. It was bizarre to be there so early in the morning! But there was a luxuriant 'Mad Men' feel to the location. The swimwear and lingerie I chose exuded a summer fresh vibe but also had a plush sexy look.

Everything looks so different in the light of day. I will be posting a behind-the-scenes feature once it all goes to press. It was brilliant to work with Julie Caulfield & Richie Buttle. They are amazing at what they do.

It was my second time working with Lisa Nolan in the past few weeks. I styled her for a photoshoot for 'The Sun' newspaper shot by Evan Doherty Photography which came out today. Lisa exudes confidence in not one - but two sets of lingerie from Susan Hunter lingerie in The Westbury Mall.
I was excited that both looks were featured in 'The Sun'. The sports luxe look is the main shot & in the smaller shot the model is wearing a stunning 'La Perla' two piece lace set from Susan Hunter. I was inspired to go for a sultry chic selection of black designer lingerie. I loved the look of it against tanned skin and coal black hair. The press shoot publicises 'The Guy Show' filmed by Straywave Media who filmed behind the scenes of our shoot in Evan Doherty's studio for their premiere episode.

After I styled the photoshoot in Krystle I found out last minute I had been gifted with Audi club passes and tickets to go see Eric Clapton in the O2. I was so excited! I felt as though I was in a time warp as Clapton played for 2 hours and 30 minutes to an enthralled crowd. His songs are a beautiful blend of rock and soul. I really feel like one thing you must have on your bucket list is see Eric Clapton live - it was really mesmerising.

I sampled some 'Stella Artois' cidre in the Audi club afterwards. On reflection I kind of dressed like a cowgirl. I wore a fringed blouse I bought in Nashville last Christmas teamed with brown leather cowboy boots and a pink lace dress with a peachy leather jacket and my oversized gold studded Steve Madden bag. On Friday I went for lunch in Bleecker Street cafe bar one of my favourite places in the city for strong coffee and healthy but tasty food. I also love it as a night spot. The bar hosts some of the best Irish bands around and has a chilled ambience. The rest of the day was spent glued to my laptop writing and catching up on my written work. That's the thing about freelancing - your day does not end at 6 O' clock. But I think that unpredictable work schedule can be really enjoyable - even though challenging.
I got some great news on Friday evening - I was asked to host a fashion show on May 23rd in my hometown Enniscorthy. It is a 'Mad Hatters tea party' themed fashion show that will raise money for Breast Cancer patients. I was really flattered that they asked me to be MC and I am looking forward to being involved in a great event for a worthy cause.

I am working as a Freelance Journalist - I am a writer for MRU Magazine and a Radio Reporter & Interviewer for RTE 2XM and I have a weekly segment that fuses the two together. MRU Magazine in association with ‘In Colour’ on RTE 2XM have teamed up to showcase homegrown talent through a weekly radio and magazine segment. I am appearing on the radio show every week to review an upcoming unsigned Irish band on air and also select a track from their EP to play on the show. My third review aired on the radio Monday night & I reviewed young up and coming Irish band Blu loves Milo ! I have great respect & admiration for the Galway trio for their perseverance - even though they are gaining momentum as a band by releasing two singles this year to date, had a self-titled EP out last April they are already back in studio making their forthcoming EP 'Spiritual Hostage'. The best part is that the boys are studying for their Leaving Cert! So kudos to them.

Behind the scenes: I styled Lisa Nolan for 'The Sun' newspaper shoot - photographed by Evan Doherty!

I have been a busy bee as of late so I haven't been blogging as much! Last Wednesday I styled a press shoot for favoured Irish photographer Evan Doherty Photography in his studio. The model was the stunning Lisa Nolan. The spread will be featured in 'The Sun' Newspaper this coming weekend.

It was a sultry but classy shoot - All the under wear was from top Dublin lingerie and hosiery haven 'Susan Hunter' in the Westbury Mall. Their stock is out of this world whether you are a bride-to- be or are looking for something special. The vast selection has elegance and character. You can visit the Westbury Mall to purchase some lace lovelies from the boutique or you can shop at susanhunter.ie !

I styled 3 looks that emulated the theme - the inspiration behind the look was high class chic. I went for all black but the devil is in the details. The first outfit was a sports luxe look with minimal briefs teamed with a gold neck piece and big wavy hair. The second was a geometric coned bra with black girdle & briefs. The third was a La Perla lace two piece with blue silk detailing. This was worn during the TV interview segment of the filming. I decided not to use lacy hold ups as the model has naturally tanned long legs and the lingerie works well without accompanied hosiery in this instance. Hotloxs hair extensions did Lisa's mane of extensions on the day. The nifty Ross Higgs from Salon 56 in Clontarf blowdried & styled the hair in a very volumous way. Make up was by Nicole Cardiff Make-up !

'The Guy Show' was being filmed on the day. They were filming 'behind the scenes' footage for their premiere episode of the show. They are a self- described unisex racy "magazine show" that features fun and frolics from the hottest of the Irish modelling scene.

If you are wondering what 'The Guy Show' is all about... think Xpose meets FHM meets Top Gear! It will set pulses racing. There were some very funny moments during filming as Evan asked Lisa some very risqué questions! I am looking forward to seeing the show.

I had a great time pulling the looks and styling the model for the shoot. I have previously styled clients for private events and ad campaigns for fashion brands so this was something very different. Everyone had a great approach and were fun to work with. I really enjoyed observing behind the scenes. A special thanks to Carol from 'Susan Hunter' for all her assistance.

I am working on another shoot tomorrow morning in Krystle nightclub that will appear in 'The Sunday World' - I am looking forward to it. It is a summery shoot with gorgeous bikinis and bright neon & lacy lingerie all from the new range from Ann Summers! Blog to follow...

My choice this week -out of a pool of undeniable talent - was the mysterious and über-talented Candice Gordon.

Yesterday I reviewed Candice Gordon's debut six track mini album 'Before the Sunset Ends' - It is due for release on May 6th. With the title track from her debut EP, Candice Gordon sets the tone. Her voice has a raw sex appeal and she sounds like something off the soundtrack of a Tarantino flick. Her voice gives you that 'halloween feeling'. The EP was produced by music legend - The Pogues’ Shane MacGowan. It features Gordon’s seductive vocals underpinned with a swelling horn section. Candice is based in Berlin and is somewhat of a nomad. She has travelled from Botswana to Dublin, busking through Asia and travelling with a circus in Croatia and Turkey.
She is very unique and there is a tenacity in her voice that conveys her explorative nature.

I really enjoyed it and I hope the listeners like it as much as I do! The EP consists of 6 tracks: 'Before The Sunset Ends', 'I See A Demon', 'Fairytale of Love and Betrayal', 'God, The Devil, and Me', 'Sound Of Horns' and 'In My Garden'. You can check out Candice Gordon live - She is currently touring Ireland. She playing on the 1st of May in the Workman's Club, the 2nd in Bourke's, Limerick. Gordon is performing on the 4th in Murphy's Thomastown, and 5th in Monroe's in Galway.

Interview with Danielle Robinson!

Danielle Robinson is well known in Ireland not only for being part of RTE reality show Fade Street but for her renowned skill as a coveted tattoo artist in 'Dublin Ink.' In person she is naturally beautiful but it is evident that doesn't rely on her looks. Robinson has a wealth of talent and is an inspiration to young ladies nationwide. She divulged in our interview how she loves immersing herself in other cultures by learning a variety of languages and is constantly eager to learn more and live life to the fullest. I spoke in-depth with Danielle about her inspiration, regrets, ambitions, personal style and the best thing that has happened in her life to date....

1. What is your favorite item in your wardrobe?

I have a small collection of Doc Martens, and one of my favourite pairs is my 24 hole maroon doc's. They definitely make me look like a bit of a goth, but I can live with that!

2. Who is your style icon?

I'm going to be honest here, I just googled 'Top 10 style icons'.. I have certain designers I love, Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood being two of them, but in regards to a certain icon, I don't really have one. I admire Chloe Sevigny, her look is so high fashion, bare makeup, clean skin, nude colours. But not only would I not be able to pull it off, keeping a nude wardrobe is way too much hassle.

3. What kind of an outfit would you wear on a night out? Is your daytime/night time look very varied?

I work in a tattoo parlour surrounded by burley men, as appealing as this sounds, it does mean I tend to dress down during the week days, so when I'm having a night out I like to doll myself up. I love wearing dark lipstick and bare eye, but the lipstick is too much effort to maintain during work, so I lash it on during weekends. I also like showing my legs, seeing as I haven't got the cleavage!!

4. What do you think of the Irish social scene? Where are your favourite places to go out/dine?

Oooh the Irish social scene is very 'clicky'. I have a great bunch of friends that I stick with, being in 'the scene' gets bitchy sometimes, and I can't cope with that. Being a vegetarian I love indian food - my favourite place being 'Diwali' on Georges street, lots and lots of fresh veg... I know your jealous right?

5. What is the best thing that has ever happened to you?

Last year, my little sister got pregnant, this took a bit of time to get used to the idea of her having a child. Jake was born, and he was the most beautiful little boy I've ever seen. Unfortunately Jake took very ill after 7 weeks, he was rushed to Crumlin Childrens hospital and put on life support. After going un-noticed by multiple doctors and nurses my sister had seen, Jake's heart wasn't growing, also leading to problems with his respiratory system.
After a few days of intensive care, we were told that Jake wouldn't make it and we were to make plans for his christening with the hospital's own Cardinal, my sister asked me to be Godmother. I know what your thinking, this is the 'best thing that's ever happened'?
Well, miraculously a few days after his christening which was held in the I.C.U. Jake took a turn for the best, he was now able to have the surgery that would give him a chance at life. He has now just turned 1, and is almost back to full health. This was due to the incredible care of my sister, an amazing mother, my family, and of course everyone in Crumlin Hospital, who now calls Jake by his nickname 'Miracle baby'.

6. What has been the highlight of your career to date?

I was featured in a 6 page pin-up style shoot for Stellar magazine one Christmas, I still have the edition in my wardrobe. It was my favourite shoot I ever did.

7. What are your ambitions for the future?

Hopefully, by next year i will have my degree in Psychology, it's my true passion. I'm also taking up some language classes, so by next year I should have basics in french, german and portuguese. I know its kinda nerdy, but I love learning new things. I hope to never stop educating myself.

8. What is your ideal man like? Is he stylish?

My ideal man is intelligent and funny, intelligence is a huge thing to me. I need a lot of conversation to keep me interested. A lot of modern men are so tied up in how they look, they are blind to anything else. I'd rather go way back and date a cave man than the men who self tan and highlight their hair.

9. Where do you shop? Do you have a particular brand you always go back to?

I'm not devoted to any particular brand. But for big events I will splash out on Topshop gear, other than that I'm into H & M, Penneys, New Look and Forever 21. Cheap and cheerful! And most importantly, you can mix and match everything, fooling people into thinking you've a rather large wardrobe..

10. What is your most embarrassing moment?

Generally I embarrass myself almost everyday, I have never met someone as clumsy as myself. I've even put other peoples lives in danger by just being in their presence!

11. Who has been the most inspirational person you have met?

My sister, by far, her courage and strength when her son was in hospital really touched me, she never left his side. Now the two of them have this bond I've never witnessed before. For almost one year she woke on the hour every hour during the night to administer Jake his medication, and still made herself be available that day to cater to everything he needed, including constant play time. It does help having such a close family too, my mam and dad were amazing through everything. I'm pretty useless at holding myself together with these things.

12. Do you have any regrets?

Not one, I have things I wish I had done differently, but I'm glad I experienced everything I did. I met some amazing people, (and some not so amazing), but it was a step to getting my job in Dublin Ink where I've worked for 3 years now and have made my own little family within the studio.

My night @ The 'Oscars' themed ball!

I was asked to go to the Griffith Ball by one of my closest friends - Katie Coleman. Katie is a photographer and Journalist. Katie and me have been pals since on the first day I met her in class I had a violent coughing fit in front of everyone. She pretended she wasn't embarrassed by sitting beside me and when I fled to the bathroom she followed me in to make sure I hadn't coughed up a lung and she didn't even know my name - And the rest is history! I definitely had the hottest date at the ball haha :)

For the ball my nails didn't really go the way I wanted & I was in a rush but I looked like I had a rainbow disco ball on one nail. This is the problem when you have magpie tendencies and aged 23 cannot resist shopping in Claire's Accessories!

The Griffith Ball had an 'Oscars theme' - what a brilliant excuse to embrace old Hollywood glamour. I wore a dress by a Polish designer with diamond and pearl detailing. I went for Veronica lake waves and a bright red lip. I used liquid eyeliner to make me eyes look bigger and I drew right down into the water line & used black kohl pencil to outline. I am a lover of the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette. It is suitable for every occasion due to its muted matte shades. Lady Danger by Mac is my ultimate lipstick. I love it for daytime and work events too. I used a Benefit Brow kit to enhance my natural brow arch shape. I hope you like my look!

It was a fantastic night at the ball I really enjoyed it. It was very well organised and there was a lovely ambience and atmosphere at it. 'The Unusual Suspects' are the best cover band I have ever heard - I danced the night away with all the girls. It was great to see some old faces & meet some new ones :)

The Falke 'Perfect Skin' Launch @ The Merrion!

I was very excited to attend the Falke 'Perfect Skin' launch in the Merrion Hotel. It was a morning event with breakfast, manicures and pedicures and of course the nicest hosiery you can imagine. I felt like a kid in a candy shop.

Like many of my fellow Irish cailíns I am a tights fiend. Whether barely black, opaque or nude - they are so handy and look chic. But the most important thing about tights is to go for quality. What I love about the Falke A/W13 range of tights is that when I tested their durability the material slid as opposed to snagged. They are - in my experience - very ladder resistant. They come in both shimmer and matte and there are patterned tights, wellie socks and stylish leg warmers in the range also.

Falke tights have a luxuriant velvety feel and are durable. For those of you who like to wear deep tan on a night out, you can avoid having freezing streaky pins on a night out at the stroke of midnight. The falke 'perfect skin' tights in the shade 'Brazil' are a brilliant match if you are wearing Sally Hansen airbrush legs tan in medium or deep, tan organic, cocoa brown tan or an equivalent to those brands. Alas - a win win situation.

For those of you festival goers you value the importance of leg warmers and wellie socks. You don't have to be in 'Fame' to wear them - they prevent 'wellie burn' where wellies literally conspire to ruin your weekend - think carpet burn inflicted by your trusty Hunter wellies. To avoid this you want comfort and style in muted or neon shades. At Electric Picnic I was positively smug and euphoric with the joys that were my wellie socks. With all that dancing and frolicking around you need to protect your skin against friction. Falke have warm but comfortable socks in their new range that look adorable but are practical.

Coachella 2013: Celebrity style & festival lowdown!

Coachella 2013 has arrived! It is the only festival of it's nature where attendees and followers do not really talk too much about who plays there. Coachella is an annual 3 day music and arts festival. Fans from all over the globe trotted to Palm Springs hungry for a weekend of fashion, frolics and musical bliss.

Coachella is simply a style oriented celebrity jam-packed festival set in a desert where fashion trends are born.

Coachella has a variety of models and a-listers that use the opportunity to let their hair down and flash the flesh. Kate Bosworth and Alessandra Ambrosio exude hippie chic in their free- spirited attire. They manage to achieve that 'thrown together but seamlessly perfect' motif.

Katy Perry looks like something out of hit American TV show 'Nashville'. She was spotted sipping herbal tea and chilling in a jacuzzi! Perry sports cowboy boots and a fitted floral belted ensemble with a hat & ray bans. Ray bans are literally the uniform sunglasses for the stylish and elite. Her ensemble shows off her womanly curves but looks casual and cute. The 'Nashville Throwback' is a look that is not overtly sexy but very understated and suitable for women of different ages. The fringed leather jackets brought back 'in' by Lana Del Rey and the cowboy boots and western vibe that is ever present on TV show 'Nashville' are everywhere at the minute. If you stroll into A-wear, Bershka, River Island, Topshop or Oasis you can find separates that you can work into your westernised wardrobe. Or floordrobe if you are a messy individual as I am at times myself.

On Day One of Coachella 'Blur' and the 'Yeah Yeah Yeahs' played to a well- hyped up crowd that savoured them. On the first night of the festival over 80,000 festival goers embraced the heat at what has been dubbed 'the world's hottest festival.'

The standalone festival style for me at Coachella is that of Haute and Rebellious style duo.

They pioneer the neon western raver queen look that is mesmerising and all about tactile layering. To the naked eye these outfits are playful and individual but on camera it is evident that this look will be imitated & duplicated on the world fashion stage through glossy magazines and style sites for festival events this season.

I ache to be at Coachella. I love the fun and buzz of festivals as well as the dressing up! From face paint, bindis, ponchos to hair flowers it is invigorating to dress eccentric at times. So.. invite your friends over, throw on your denim shorts, a cowboy hat, a slop of tan and shake some glowsticks!

Although I don't know if the atmosphere is that infectious that you will feel it through a screen... Well there is always next year!

I have some good news for you fashionistas - Recycling has never been so on trend. Floral Splash - As always Floral is huge this season. So take a risk on one of the most traditional spring trends in fashion; don't be afraid to go head to toe, or chose one statement pieces and pair it with a block color.

Get Graphic- A Kaleidoscope of everyday print, from candy stripe to tribal, get in touch with your untapped subconscious and start mixing things up. Yes! clash your prints: dots to stripes, tribal to check it’s gone a little psychedelic. The trick is try out two prints you like, then add a basic element like denim to soften the look. Ditch your inner wallflower, because this trend is loud.

Monochrome - Don’t worry if colourful prints are not your thing. Black and white pairings dominated the runways. But this trend is anything but boring; in fact, monochrome is the standout trend here, appearing as stripes and standout checks with a nod to the 60's. It’s easy to take on this trend, think classic, while still having fun, start with white a summer fave for everyone and then black out elements to achieve this trend remember to try and keep a balance.

The Blogosphere: the bitchiness in blogging.

Sometimes blogging grinds my gears. First off, I love that it is a way of conveying inspiration and showcasing interviews and work events and a gazillion other things. I do feel it has opened doors and helped me hone my writing skills. The main drawback is consistently putting yourself out there is a weird and sometimes scary phenomenon. Social networking can start to feel like an obligation as opposed to a pastime. Inevitably - blogging is a niche that can draw people that have a competitive or derogatory nature.

What do you have to gain from being the Queen of Mean?

Personally - my blog is a window into my life professionally - I joke about my outfits being a bit out there and in some cases I wonder what I was thinking. I'm inclined to laugh & cringe at my past fashion faux pas. It is a bit nerve wracking having a blog and giving your views without feeling like a narcissist or vulnerable. You don't want to be the lamb that gets slaughtered. I love feedback. In life and the working world a thick skin is important and necessary. I enjoy reading fellow bloggers work. There is a hive of serious talent in Ireland at the moment. Bloggers that are stylists, make up artists, college students, models, photographers or simply pop culture fanatics. 'Lipstick Gossip' is what I would label a 'magazine blog' it delves into my life as a Journalist bitten by the fashion bug. But some bitten by that bug can be elitist in the Irish and UK scene. It mirrors the iconic movie 'The Devil wears Prada':

'Andy' the new girl in the office is treated like an outsider until she ups her game in the style stakes, dons her designer duds and plays the role. Only then do her peers in the office treat her with measured respect and/or acknowledgement and the 'hideous skirt convention' slurs draw to a close. I just believe in the whole philosophy of writing your own rules as opposed to the 'sheep' mentality. 'Andy' dressing more stylish should have been a choice for her - not for other people. My favourite writers & bloggers aren't the opinionated self righteous ones, but rather the articulate writers that between the lines are writing for themselves and that are gracious.

The fashion scene is Ireland isn't massive so you start to build not only connections but camaraderie and friendship with fellow Journalists, bloggers, PR folk and organisers of these events. I have met some lovely people over the past few years in Ireland & the UK. Those unions have flourished into close friendships. But, I had an illuminating conversation with a new acquaintance at a recent fashion launch in Dublin. She commented that before I arrived she had felt intimidated and joked that some people retained a closed- door policy when she tried to engage with them - which she branded 'dismissive' and 'unfair'.

I'm no expert at blogging - I have worked hard but there is so much more to learn! I have different aims than some, I don't feel blogging is my identifier but I think it can really be a leg up in the industry.
To succeed in any role you have to be confident and have self- worth. You can have a voice without shouting. I don't think you should feel like having thousands of followers is the only way to be validated at what you do. Celebrate any one person who does take the time to check out what you have to say. If readers flock to support you be delighted but humbled.

Outfit of the day!

Hey dolls! I decided to do an #OOTD post from my photoshoot. My make-up is matte and glowy - and I sported a smoky-eye look with nude lips.

I wore a floral print skirt and blazer outfit from River Island last season. The photoshoot look was very preppy and bright. It was great fun. I am always a believer in outfit repeating and getting value out of my purchases - I covered a charity fashion show for fashion.ie in 37 Dawson St last year and wore this matching number. It was great to style it up for a shoot yesterday and revive the outfit. It has a very Spring vibe and I love the colours. The hat is also from River Island. I find a lot of their clothes are timeless and their separates are very versatile. This look can transcend from day to night.

I teamed the outfit with a simple V- neck pullover and white tights and flats. I remain very inspired by Blair Waldorf - My favourite character in 'Gossip Girl'. My flats are from Miinto.ie they are nude studded Jeffrey Campbell pumps. The shoes and attire on www.miinto.ie are always very fresh and high brow. They showcase a lot of stock from Ireland's leading boutiques.

I am also wearing a watch from Michael Kors. It goes with everything. I picked it up in Nashville on my American road trip at Christmas.

The Pinko style workshop was hosted by Ireland's style guru Courtney Smith. The event was held in Harvey Nichols in Dundrum. I was perched front row as I checked out all of the offerings from the Pinko Spring/ Summer range.

The fashion show was narrated by Smith who gave great styling tips and drew our attention to the clean lines, versatility and noted Italian attention to detail ever present in the clothing. I caught up with Courtney Smith who divulged that she personally loves the range and was wearing a very glam Pinko outfit on the day.

The Pinko concession is available downstairs in Harvey Nichols. Symmetry and a- line shapes, provocative corsets, fur gilets, evening coats, clashing prints, tweed jackets, rich leathers and floaty chiffon all feature in Pinko Spring/Summer but all in their own right are stunning statement pieces in the line. Different textures ensure you can work both a day and night look.The accessories oozed sophistication, the clutch handbags are compact yet intricately detailed and very good value. They can go from board room to ballroom. What a lot of Irish ladies crave is being able to go straight from work for a drink yet feel stylish and dressed for the occasion.

One of the standout pieces is this beautiful dress which looks very shapely and slimming on the empire line. It enhances curves and the bright coral tones flatter Irish skin tones. My American Roadtrip: New Orleans.

When I arrived in New Orleans I was fascinated. By the old buildings, the atmosphere, the people, everything. I loved that every restaurant served shrimp gumbo, the huge holiday crowds and that there were quaint horse drawn carriages. I took a trip in one with a local man named Nate and his horse Honeyboy. Nate was a serious character telling me in a heavy sometimes unintelligible accent about the witch hunts, hauntings in the 1920's and the history of New Orleans.

I also went on a Haunted Tour to visit all the places where either weird hauntings have been reported or where historical battles had taken place. It was really cool. I soaked up the atmosphere with ease. It is evident why the place is called the 'Big Easy'. The people are charming and hospitable. In typical American fashion they love Irish people! The shopping and nightlife held great allure and it is a place I would adore to be in for Mardi Gras. What is spectacular is that the place has the appeal of having character and culture but also is a great destination for partying and fun. It is a winning combination. I stayed in the Hyatt Hotel which had the most beautiful buffet breakfasts every morning I have ever experienced in a hotel. I was a stones throw from the French Quarter where most of the action is.

I went to a psychic in the house of Voodoo priestess Marie Laveau who unsettled me with her predictions. She was a glamorous 85 year old woman with lots of jewellery and long red nails. She had a weird vibe about her, I don't go to psychics usually but seeing as I was in the house of a legendary voodoo priestess I wanted to live the whole experience.

Legendary Bourbon street looks as though it is swarmed by saloons that are rowdy by 4pm and the drink of choice is a 'grenade' which has every spirit man has ever distilled, and potentially some mystery ingredients. On New Years Eve I danced and partied and had a ball. The Superbowl was on too which added to over 15,000 people celebrating on the streets by midnight!

Everyone wore embellished masks I picked up one and wore it as a headband. I wore my hair loose and wavy, had smoky eye make up teamed with peach lipstick. I picked up a black and gold dress in a little boutique near the French quarter which I teamed with funky tights and very high Louboutin-style shoe boots. The weather was balmy and humid and it was so nice to leave heavy jackets behind for a change on a night out. The style was very unique - people dressed as if they were at a carnival or something it was very out there.

Beneath fireworks to rival Disneyland I welcomed 2013 with open arms and I adored ringing in the new year somewhere unique that had an air of mysticism. And my exploring of New Orleans was magical. On my American roadtrip it was without doubt my favourite place to visit.

Next time I visit New Orleans I want to go visit the alligators in the Bayou! Many more American road trip blogs to come. It has been an amazing journey in so many ways. I would highly recommend it! I went there with my boyfriend Darren and we both fell in love with the place.

I was taken aback by not only how enviably gorgeous she is but how she is without a doubt a very talented lady. This fashionista/model/songstress has a lot to offer.

At the moment I'm loving my black high waisted Disco Pants from nopolka.com -They're super stylish and flattering on-they look tight, almost like leather, but they're actually really comfortable and more like a legging material inside.

Who is your style icon?
Definitely Kim Kardashian. I love looking at her clothes and her makeup-she is always immaculate and I love that she is curvy and dresses to flaunt her curves-the day of the 'supper skinny' size zero look fanned by Paris Hilton etc. has definitely gone and I think that has a lot to do with the Kardashians coming on the scene. I don't think I have ever seen Kim wear one thing that I haven't liked. Her style is flawless and I am also a massive fan of bodycon herve leger dresses that Kim is often seen sporting and Shoulder padded blazers for a day time look.

What kind of an outfit would you wear on a night out? Is your daytime/night time look very varied?
I LOVE bodycon dresses for nights out! I don't go out very often so when I do I like to go all out and get very dressed up. My day time look is extremely varied, I guess it depends what I'm doing, if I'm chilling around the house or walking around my local village I'll just wear sweats. You should see me in the gym I look dreadful! Around Galway I'd throw anything on really-jeans, comfy shoes and a cardigan. If I'm in Dublin I'm usual doing something connected with modeling so I'll be more dressed-up and wear heeled boots or shoes and jeans with a blazer.

What do you think of the modeling industry in Ireland? How did you get started?
My thoughts on the modeling industry in Ireland as a whole vary-In one way it's a lot easier to model in Ireland as the press-call circuit exists. I’ve found it doesn't really in other countries. Therefore it is easier to be a model as you don't have the same strict rules-such as height and size against you to be a press call model. However with that said it is still a difficult industry to break-especially if you don't know the right people who can guide and help you.You have to work extremely hard. I started by doing a one day modeling course with Absolute Studios back in April 2010 doing a course opened my mind into a world I knew nothing about and I just set my mind on it from that day on.

Tell us a bit about your blog - what does it say about you?
I started my blog as a bit of fun really. I like to write and I've been told I am good at giving people advice! So I thought it would be something to keep me busy in my spare time and I had no idea so many people would read it and it would do well. I never blog about celebrity gossip unless there's a moral to the story (for example I did do one blog on Kim K getting flour- bombed and how people should treat each other better) I like to stay away from any celebrity gossip but I blog about modeling, fashion, makeup, fitness, music and my life in general. My favourite blog so far was an interview I did with hip-hop manager to the stars Steve Lobel. I am a big hip-hop head and Steve is an iconic manager who has worked with everyone from back in the day artists such as Biggie, Run DMC and Tupac to modern day Sean Kingston, Iyaz and Mann to name a few. I definitely don't limit my blog to one thing you can find anything on there! but what I'd like it to say about me is that I'm an approachable person who likes to give as honest an opinion as I can on the topics I blog about.

What has been the highlight of your career to date?
I think that the highlight of my career so far has definitely been traveling to Los Angeles! I had the time of my life! I was at the playboy mansion a couple of times during my visit-which was amazing! and I hungout with Akon on set of his new music video which was being filmed in a BelAir mansion. I am dying to get back to the US and do some proper work for a longer period of time.

What are your ambitions for the future?
I am an extremely ambitious person and I believe the sky is the limit. I want to continue doing as much modeling as I can but also a lot more singing, dancing and acting. I was recently approached to do my own single with producer Dav Nagle from Popstar studios-So I'm looking forward to getting in the studio and seeing how that will go. Being on stage is what I've dreamed about since I was a little girl.

What is your ideal man like? Is he stylish?
My ideal man- Tall (but not too tall: taller than me will do) and handsome. Stylish is a plus but I don't like guys who take it overboard such as ‘Geordie shores-eyebrows thinner than my own’ with Man- manicures and fake tan-that is not for me! I like a man to be manly! I love guys who are into music-if they sing/rap they had me at hello! But if they don't then I hope we like the same type of music. A guy who dresses nice is important but honestly for me its more about the way he treats me. I'm definitely not a girl who falls for the 'treat them mean' thing-If a guy isn't nice to me I'm over it. I won't like him at all. A sense of humour is very important too.

Where do you shop? Do you have a particular brand you always go back to?
I'm lucky because lately I get a lot of things sent to me-to blog about/wear etc... that is definitely the best thing about modeling. I'm not a brand girl I'll literally shop anywhere! Don't get me wrong I like brands as much as the next person but I'm not too fussy. My motto with clothes is it doesn't matter where it's from if it's nice I'll wear it, if it's not I won't. Something brought in Brown Thomas won't make me like it, I might prefer a dress brought in Penneys over a designer dress, It just depends on the item in question.

What advice would you give to young people who aspire to be models?
Do it because it's what YOU want to do! not because it's the it thing to do, or you want to be able to say your a model. Do it because you have a desire to do it and not to impress others. Its a difficult industry. You will hear a lot of rejection in many forms, so you have to have a really thick skin and just be confident and believe in yourself.

Who has been the most inspirational person you have met?
My mum inspires me every day-She's a single parent and she has brought me and my sister up through difficult circumstances unbelievably well! I owe everything to her-She is my best friend and she encourages and helps me in every way.

Hello ladies!

This week has been a busy one. Paddy's Day has come and gone and all we are left with are bright green outfits (and emerald green nails to match if you are me) that suddenly don't seem as cute and festive as they did last weekend.. I wore out my beautiful new shoes I got for my birthday.
My beloved Jeffrey Campbells needed a night out. I call them WMD's or weapons of mass destruction -the spikes are so sharp.

I haven't been blogging half as much as I would like to as I have been a busy bee. Being a Journalist continues to have it's trials and triumphs! At the moment I am loving my work. I have been working in radio doing interviews and also writing for magazines and websites. Speaking of magazines I have two bits of news for my lovely readers -

Secondly, the lovely folks at 'Look Magazine' got in touch with me this week and gave me some great news! I featured in Britain's most popular fashion mag 'Look Magazine' twice in February modelling a pin- curl retro look and also street style poker straight hair. I was invited to a really cool product launch party today by a London PR company in the Merrion next month that includes pedicures and breakfast - I am so excited. Love/Hate Season 4 exclusives!

I am living for the next season of Love/Hate. I think we all are... Alas an Irish crime drama we can be proud of! I caught up with the cast at the IFTA's and for those who missed my babbling on RTE you can hear from the talented cast of the hit TV show right here on Lipstick Gossip.

IFTA winner Tom Vaughan Lawlor talk about being 'Nidge' and perfecting his accent, Killian Scott reveals what could happen with Tommy next season - Robert Sheehan lets us all in on the fact he will be watching his character Darren's funeral from his couch joking he will be like the rest of us 'plebeians' and additionally why he never changed his blue hoodie all season!! ( I had to ask...)
Also IFTA winner Susan Loughnane confesses she forgot to thank her boyfriend during her speech and seizes the opportunity during our interview to do it! Charlie Murphy talks about her IFTA win and the responsibility of portraying a rape victim in Love/Hate.

My news and views: Rihanna for River Island Press Launch!

I was very excited to be invited to the Rihanna for River Island Press Preview. The range radiated nineties throwback style but oozed that sensuality that Rihanna is renowned for. Guests were given a sneak peek at the range and could avail of a 20% discount. The line hit stores nationwide today.

I met some lovely folks on the night, Fashion blogger Fiona Mullen, Brendan Courtney, Beauty guru Joanne Larby and many more. Crowds gathered to covet something from the range that was the talk of London Fashion Week. Rihanna was at the London Preview last night.

Rihanna may not have been at the Dublin Press Event but the essence of her personal style was everywhere - from thigh- high and ankle scraping boots to lemon silk and playful denims - the Rihanna for River Island range had a broad appeal and surely will make an impact on the Dublin style scene. Of course there is that inevitable fear that does one need Rihanna's shapely silhouette to carry off her sexy street style, but I believe that if you dress for your shape and mix and match you can interpret the trends as your own, the range is wearable and flattering. The idea is to emulate Rihanna's exotic star style in your own way rather than mirror it. I loved the slouchy tanks which would look funky with chunky gold chains and the limited edition Rihanna snowy leather baseball jacket. Check out the Rihanna emblazoned buttons...

I picked up the black leather peaked hat from the range - it had an egyptian feel and would be wearable to a festival, party or even shopping if styled down. I really liked it so I swooped in and got the last one! I flat out couldn't leave the event empty handed the hat was just too slick.

I was chatting to the lovely folks from VaVaVoom TV. They were interviewing many people from Dublin's fashion and journalism scene at the event. I wore a vintage sequined embellished jumper from Fluorescent Elephant on the night and everyone was raving about it! Brendan Courtney said he really liked it which I was happy about. I felt cosy but it is nice to wear a statement piece. It can really jazz up an outfit and considering how cold it was in Dublin last night I was glad of it the warmth and sparkle. I wore a River Island leopard print headband, black River Island leggings, my vintage jumper and black spiked Jeffrey Campbell heels. I have decided to call my Jeffrey Campbells WMD's. They truly are weapons of Mass Destruction! I stabbed myself in the finger as I put them on before the event but luckily I had some plasters at hand.

I was interviewed by Fashion One for a TV interview by the lovely Ciara O' Doherty from 'Wildchild Stories'. We talked about the style at the event, the staple pieces from the Rihanna collection and who we would like to see River Island do a collaboration with! I maintain Diane Kruger for River Island would be spectacular. I will post a link to the interview when it goes live!

Ciara and I met for the first time last night and through our mutual love of River Island, fashion, personal style and all things Rihanna, we instantly bonded while frothing at the mouth over River Islands latest offering. The event brought together a fallout of fashionistas.

'Hopeless Romantic' - What I wore to Harvey Nichols S/S13 Fashion Show.

I was covering the Harvey Nichols S/S13 show last night. I was mesmerised by the 'Hopeless Romantic' themed show. I decided to go for a Marilyn-esque make up look to go with my outfit I was wearing to the event. I wore my hair loose and wavy to the side and teamed a diamante pattern Zara playsuit, pale lavender mohair Topshop cardi and my white concave studded Jeffrey Campbell's.

My look on the night.

My make- up look was easy to achieve. I used Lancôme primer, Lancôme teint idole foundation, Rimmel matte powder, fuchsia lippy and lip liner. I wore Georgia Salpa lashes. I used a peachy blusher but kept the make-up as bright and porcelain as I could. I used some bronzer to contour my cheeks below the blusher on my jawbones. The primer was a great base. I used an essence white eyeshadow on my eyelids and on the bridge of my nose, above my cheekbones and beneath my brow arch as a highlighter and illuminator. I used black winged Rimmel 'exaggerate' liner to complete my eye make up. Take your time doing this - do a thin line from the inner corner outwards and patiently experiment until you feel your slant is pronounced enough. I used a benefit brow pallet to shape my brows into a full retro pin-up arch. I used it quite sparsely as my hair is quite blonde and I didn't want the brows too heavy, a little goes a long way. I used the eyebrow pencil to give me a Hollywood freckle above my lip to complete my pouty Retro Hollywood look.
