Born on September 25, 1952, in Melapatty, a quaint village in Trichirapalli District, Dr.K. Govindaraju's early life was a testament to resilience. His parents, Mr. B. Krishna Reddiar and Mrs. Polammal, instilled in him the value of education, and he cycled 11 kms to high school in Kulitalai, later braving 45 kms to Trichy for Pre-University studies, fueled by determination and part-time tuition work.

*A Legacy of Learning*

Dr. Govindaraju's academic pursuits led him to National College, Trichy, where he graduated in Mathematics and Bachelor Degree in Education in Siddhartha College of Education, Tumkur.

He went on to earn postgraduate degrees in Science, Management, Education, History, and Journalism, and a PhD in Management, through evening Colleges,/Distance Education mode.

His association with Prof M.A. Windey, a Belgian social activist, was a turning point, inspiring him to join Village Reconstruction Organisation in 1975 and later founding SEVAI in 1984.

Dr.K.Govindaraju visited Egypt, Denmark, Netherlands, UK, Germany, France, Belgium and neighborhood countries such as Bangladesh, Nepal for studies and attending workshops and congresses.

SEVAI, under Dr.K. Govindaraju's visionary leadership, has been a driving force for community empowerment, focusing on children and women's empowerment, quality education, livelihood enhancement, environmental conservation, and sustainable development. AEM France has stood by SEVAI for over three decades, providing crucial support for children-centered projects. Dr. Govindaraju's personal life is a testament to balance and harmony. His wife, Padmini, a government school principal, and he shared a life of purpose, with their son, Sathish Kumar, now married with two sons, involved in organic farming and enterprise management. Padmini's passing in 2025 left a void, but her pension continues to support the family.

Dr. Govindaraju's tireless efforts have earned him numerous accolades, including the Outstanding Organisation Award presented by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamilnadu on August 15, 2025, and several awards from CNRI, blessed by the Hon'ble President of India in 2008.

He served as President of Tamilnadu Board of Continuing Education and State Resource Centre, Tamilnadu and Puducherry. Beekeeper Mrs. Sarala tends to beehives, har investing honey from the Agro Forestry garden's diverse flora, highlighting its medicinal benefits, including antibacterial, antifungal, and antioxidant properties.She conveys her gratitude to AEM for promoting Agro Forestry program in in Amoor, the bees extract honey from the flowers of Fruits trees.SEVAI empowers women like Mrs. Sarala, promoting livelihood enhancement, environmental conservation, and biodiversity. Champion of Change: Krishna R. Govindaraju's Journey with SEVAI 🌿

Krishna R. Govindaraju is a dedicated social worker and founder of Society for Education, Village Action and Improvement (SEVAI). Born on September 25, 1952, in Melapatty, Tamil Nadu, he was raised in a farming family and pursued studies in Mathematics and Education.

Govindaraju's passion for community development led him to work with Village Reconstruction Organisation and later establish SEVAI, focusing on education, environmental conservation, and livelihood initiatives. He's served as President, Tamil Nadu Board of Continuing Education, and expert committee member, Govt. of India projects. Currently, he's Treasurer, Trichy District Welfare Fund Committee, and custodian, Trichy Birds Park. With over 50 years of public service, Govindaraju's work impacts agriculture, environment, and education in rural Tamil Nadu. He's travelled to Egypt, Denmark, Netherlands, UK, Germany, France, Belgium, Nepal, and Bangladesh for studies and workshops. 🙏 Kris

*Solar-Powered Green Gold in Amoor Agro Forestry program "

SEVAI's Kalanjium centre is proving that green is the new gold with its solar-powered Agro Forestry program. A state-of-the-art solar pumping system now draws water from deep below, quenching the thirst of 2 acres of land and nurturing over 1,000 saplings of drought-tolerant fruit trees — mango, guava, sapota, pomegranate, and moringa — provided by AEM.

The centre has turned into a buzzing hub of green activity, with school children, women, and neighbouring farmers dropping by to learn and copy the model. Ms. Ingrid CHARREL and Mr. Vincent of AEM recently visited the program, seeing firsthand the impact of their support. As the centre coordinator says, "When communities own the trees, the trees own the future." With the solar pump humming on, lifting water to meet sky-high ambitions, green is indeed becoming gold in Amoor's fields — shade by shade, fruit by fruit.🌿🙏Govin
