On 25 April 2026, the South Zone Board of Continuing Education – OZONE – transformed Kalaiaarangam Conference Hall, Tiruchirappalli, into a tribute to word, work, and healing, honouring two distinguished changemakers. Thiru. V. Jawahar Arumugam received the _Excellence Golden Jubilee Award, ‘Arivu Sudar Mamani’_ for his fearless journalism, evocative books, and grassroots change through his NGO, while Dr. M. S. Vijayanand was conferred the _Excellence Medical Services Award, ‘Maruthuva Sudar’-2026_ for exemplary rural surgical service and cancer care. District Judge (Retd.) Shri. Kukan @ K. Karunanithi and neuro specialist Dr. M.A. Aleem presented the trophies, _ponnadai_, and cash prizes amid resounding applause, with OZONE Chairman Dr. K. Govindaraju, Padmashree Marachi Subburaman, and Tiruchirappalli Writers Association President Shri Indra Jith on stage. Hailed as “a beacon of _Arivu_ and _Sudar_ — knowledge and light,” Jawahar accepted the honour as “a loan for the future,” insisting that “only straightforward, transparent service ensures true sustainability” and that “truth will give quality of life improvement.” Dr. Vijayanand, lauded by Dr. Aleem for taking advanced surgical care to underserved patients, dedicated his award to equitable healthcare — a mission reflected in his 2,000+ laparoscopic and 500+ major cancer surgeries and the Delta Cancer Foundation’s _Cancer Free Cauvery Delta_ program that has screened 1,000+ patients. One stage, two paths — pen and scalpel — both illuminating knowledge and life.

I live as a common man, yet stand firm in truth and justice — a quality I see in every person here. There can be no compromise for truth.” Calling the award “a loan for the future, not a garland for the past,” he observed that while social work and waterbodies development matter, *only straightforward, transparent service ensures true sustainability*. “Truth will give quality of life improvement,” he affirmed .👍Kris

 Born from the marshes of the Cauvery delta, the _korai pai_ is Tamil Nadu’s answer to sustainable living. Harvested, split, and sun-dried, korai reed is dyed with turmeric and indigo, then woven by women on simple looms into mats that breathe — cool in summer, warm in winter. Each mat carries centuries of geometry, memory, and zero plastic. *At SEVAI’s Kalanjium Amoor centre, rural women produce these mats*, turning local wetland grass into livelihood. The revival is here: SEVAI and designers now turn korai into yoga mats and table runners; government schemes support modern looms and natural dye units; green buyers pay for carbon-negative craft. The korai mat isn’t just what you sleep on — it’s wetland saved, woman employed, heritage earned. The _korai_ reed bends but doesn’t break, and neither should this craft.☀️🌷☀️

 Every April 24, India celebrates the day power came home. In 1993, the 73rd Amendment gave villages a Constitution and a voice — 2.6 lakh Gram Panchayats became the government nearest to 65% of Indians. This isn’t paperwork democracy. It’s the sarpanch fixing your borewell, the ward member mapping your street light, the woman president defending your village budget. With 14 lakh elected women and 50% reservation in Tamil Nadu, panchayats turned _Gram Swaraj_ from slogan to schedule. From MGNREGS to Jal Jeevan, from noon-meal centres to fruit trees on Trichy–Karur bunds, real change is planned under a neem tree, not in a Delhi hall. Yet power still trails responsibility — funds delay, staff shortages hurt, and Gram Sabhas need louder voices. National Panchayat Day isn’t a garland function. It’s a reminder: Viksit Bharat 2047 runs on strong panchayats. Because _ஊர் கூடித் தேர் இழுக்க வேண்டும்_ — the chariot moves only when the whole village pulls together.🌹Govin🌷

 Every April 23, UNESCO reminds us why books refuse to fade. In an age of AI prompts, 15-second reels, and infinite scroll, books are a quiet rebellion — analog time machines that put you in conversation with Shakespeare, free of paywalls and algorithms. Six minutes with a page cuts stress sharper than music and rebuilds the focus our feeds keep fracturing. From the palm-leaf wisdom of _Thirukkural_ to Mahakavi Bharathi’s fire, Tamil literature proves its staying power. Bharathi turned books into weapons, using _Kannan Paattu_, _Panchali Sabatham_, and his fierce essays to ignite freedom, equality, and reform when silence was safer. We composed epics while much of the world was still learning its alphabet, and he made sure we kept writing when empires demanded quiet. So skip the paper-versus-pixel debate. Read 20 minutes, gift one book to someone who’d never buy it, step into a library and breathe, start a three-person book club over tea. Books don’t ping or autoplay. They wait — patient, certain that depth outlasts distraction. As Valluvar said: _Learn what’s worth learning, then live it._🙋 Govin

 Social responsibility is not charity. It is the conscious choice to use what we have — our time, our skill, our knowledge — to uplift the community around us. When a graduate teaches coding to children in his own lane, when residents come together to adopt a school library, or when a social worker ensures a health scheme reaches the last house on the street, development becomes real.&nbsp;&nbsp;
</div>
<div dir="auto">
 True progress begins when the torch of knowledge passes from one hand to many. Start with one issue. Partner with others. Involve the youth. And measure lives changed, not merely events held.&nbsp;&nbsp;
</div>
<div dir="auto">
 Degrees earn respect. Service builds legacy. When responsibility guides action, communities do not just grow — they learn to stand on their own.☀️Govin

 SEVAI Natesan Govt Aided Primary School, established in *1947* in Mettumarudur near Kulithalai, fixed its *Avvaiyar statue after minor renovation in 2026*. For the&nbsp; primary students here, Avvaiyar is a daily guide to character through her _Aathichudi_: _Annam idu_ — share food, _Aaruvathu sinam_ — control anger, _Kalvi karavel_ — learn with focus, _Opuravam pesu_ — speak kindly, _Iyambar visumbil_ — aim high. For first-generation learners from farming homes, her presence turns old wisdom into daily habits. Woven into assembly, stories, and classroom rules, the statue makes values warm and lived, not lectured. The renovation proves a simple truth: timeless ethics need fresh care. Here, stone doesn’t preach. It reminds — _“Ozhukkam uyir inum mel”_ — character above life — and children practice it, every single day.🙏Govin

 Founded in *1947* in Mettumarudur, a farming village near Kulithalai, Tiruchirappalli District, SEVAI Natesan Govt Aided Primary School installed a *Mahakavi Subramania Bharathiyar statue in 1993* to teach courage before calculus. *Renovated in 2026* after 33 years, the statue continues to guide&nbsp; the primary school students studying here today. It embodies Bharathi’s core call: _Achamillai_ — be fearless, _Kalvi_ for every child, _Pudhumai Penn_ for every girl, and dignity for every parent’s labour. For these learners from farming homes, his turban and unflinching gaze turn poetry into posture and self-respect. Woven into assembly, songs, and daily school life, the statue makes courage a habit, not a slogan. The children respect Bharathiyar not as a distant poet, but as a daily teacher of fearlessness. The renovation proves a simple truth: ideals don’t age, but they must be tended. Here, statue doesn’t stand silent. It commands _“Nimirthu nil”_ — stand tall — and a rural classroom obeys, every single day.🙏Govin

 SEVAI Natesan Govt Aided Primary School, founded in 1947 in rural Mettumarudur, near Kulitalai installed a Thiruvalluvar statue in 1993 to nurture character alongside literacy. Renovated in 2026 after 32 years, it remains a daily guide to the _Thirukkural_’s essentials: _Kalvi_ (education), _Ozhukkam_ (discipline), _Anbu_ (compassion), _Vaaimai_ (truth), and _Uzhavu_ (dignity of labour). For first-generation learners from farming homes, Valluvar is more than a poet — he is a mirror to their roots and a model for their conduct. Woven into assembly, story sessions, and school rituals, the statue makes abstract ethics visible and lived. The renovation affirms a simple truth: values don’t age, but they do need care. In this rural classroom, stone quietly teaches what textbooks alone cannot — pride, integrity, and a moral compass carried across generations.🙏Govin

 Pot irrigation for trees Saplings planted&nbsp;
</div>
<div dir="auto">
 in Summer.
</div>
<div dir="auto">
 Planting a sapling takes a moment — saving it takes a mission. At SEVAI, we discovered that the real battle begins after the monsoon. Between March and June, Trichy’s soil scorches past 38°C and moisture vanishes within 48 hours, leaving tender roots to fight a losing war against heat. That’s why 6 in 10 saplings planted with hope disappear before the next rains arrive.
</div>
<div dir="auto">
 To change this story, SEVAI champions pot irrigation across Thogamalai and Manaparai Blocks — a timeless, low-cost technique where a humble clay pot becomes a 15-day lifeline for each sapling. Paired with mulching and natural shade, survival leaps to 90%. As Dr. K. Govindaraju reminded our field functionaries, _our goal is not a plantation drive, but a 95%+ survival guarantee_.
</div>
<div dir="auto">
 The math is simple: ₹30 spent on summer care saves ₹180 in replanting, and gifts us 20 years of shade, oxygen, and groundwater. Every sapling that conquers summer becomes a climate warrior for the next generation.🌿Govin

 Students from SEVAI Shanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary school, Pettavathalai, recently explored the wonders of sustainable agriculture at the SEVAI Pasumai Natural Resources Management centre in K.N.Palayam. Under the guidance of teacher Mrs. Janathamani, they discovered the multifaceted benefits of Azolla, a versatile aquatic fern. This nutrient-rich wonder boasts an impressive 25-30% protein content, making it an ideal feed supplement for poultry and livestock. Azolla's uses are diverse: it enriches soil health as a natural fertilizer, purifies water through bioremediation, and even possesses medicinal properties. Its applications in sustainable agriculture and environmental management make it a valuable resource, truly a marvel of nature 💪.Govin

 The&nbsp; farmers of Thottiyapatty in Thogamalai Block are on a mission to green their tomorrow!&nbsp; Through SEVAI-Green India's Agro Forestry program, they're transforming several acres of dry land into a vibrant fruit forest in this area. This initiative is a win-win: fresh fruits for locals and a greener landscape that could bring more rains and fight climate change. As these trees grow, they'll boost farmers' incomes and nurture the environment. Respects to these incredible Farmers for leading the way! The farmers are loving Green India's technical support and surveyors' input - it's making all the difference 🌿Kris

 The AEM mission's Ennum Ezhuthum assessment at SEVAI Mettumarudur Natesan Government Aided Primary School was a comprehensive evaluation of third-standard students' foundational literacy and numeracy skills. Led by Ms. Ingrid and Mr. Vincent, the team worked closely with SEVAI to identify learning gaps, provide targeted support, and enhance teacher capabilities through training and collaboration. The assessment focused on reading, writing, and arithmetic, with the mission encouraging students to showcase their skills. The team didn't just stop at the third standard; they visited other classes, interacting with students and teachers alike. Their suggestions, such as providing desks for comfortable learning, aimed to create a conducive learning environment. The mission appreciated the school's efforts in maintaining quality education, nutritious meals (including eggs in the menu), and meticulous record-keeping, highlighting their commitment to quality teaching and learning 🌿. Notably, AEM supports the salary of one teacher and an assistant, supplementing the government-aided staff.🙋Kris

 At SEVAI Natesan Government Aided Primary School in Mettumarudur, the revered statues of Avvaiyar, Thiruvalluvar, and Mahakavi Bharathiyar stand as timeless beacons of wisdom, inspiring generations of students. Avvaiyar's lessons on morality, Thiruvalluvar's Tirukkural, and Mahakavi Bharathiyar's patriotic fervor embody Tamil Nadu's rich cultural heritage, guiding humanity towards virtue and inner strength. To preserve this legacy, Dr. K. Govindaraju, Founder Director of SEVAI, has initiated the renovation of these 1947 statues, aiming to restore them to their original glory within four weeks, reinforcing the school's commitment to traditional values and life-enriching education. This gesture honors the vision of the school's founders and underscores SEVAI's 25-year dedication to nurturing values and education.🙋🙏Kris

A state-of-the-art solar pumping system now draws water from deep below, quenching the thirst of 2 acres of land and nurturing over 1,000 saplings of drought-tolerant fruit trees — mango, guava, sapota, pomegranate, and moringa — provided by AEM. </div><div dir="auto"><br><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEi-yd6Hk_hFqExzU954qZtZ9Ll-mPoEV8Ha1Z4geGS-caaYfFnLJ_MJuIIezhC8DhAHSehZpJ3VUEJx0IdP-nIYAyCGKbYiqxS3hvokOxRUsIMegcCPQY731xI-jXb68NRJ4pxqliAJo2pelXp6N4f8qD5Opu9sqsxxV1tuNjJ_haZJ3nnMDU89a6Fd9tcz"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEi-yd6Hk_hFqExzU954qZtZ9Ll-mPoEV8Ha1Z4geGS-caaYfFnLJ_MJuIIezhC8DhAHSehZpJ3VUEJx0IdP-nIYAyCGKbYiqxS3hvokOxRUsIMegcCPQY731xI-jXb68NRJ4pxqliAJo2pelXp6N4f8qD5Opu9sqsxxV1tuNjJ_haZJ3nnMDU89a6Fd9tcz=s320" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_7624746568871187954" /></a><br><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEipmxaGcJcyDj4ZBgLHW2eT97q8vjtrr4hq9CeOm9adcbgm1b73Ynls-NVyc22Xuc3qmO7Kn87p4p1CJKJ1c4MFa4V10cxUxqZLA3Pys29d45sPMoiNtBoxLwKoRuTuKfyxnorT1qRG_LQBEVdvYj_DyPLsWLgzRcnoYe9z_nFtOSH9gHGTW5COVpekRexK"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEipmxaGcJcyDj4ZBgLHW2eT97q8vjtrr4hq9CeOm9adcbgm1b73Ynls-NVyc22Xuc3qmO7Kn87p4p1CJKJ1c4MFa4V10cxUxqZLA3Pys29d45sPMoiNtBoxLwKoRuTuKfyxnorT1qRG_LQBEVdvYj_DyPLsWLgzRcnoYe9z_nFtOSH9gHGTW5COVpekRexK=s320" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_7624746582080224946" /></a><br><br></div><div dir="auto">The centre has turned into a buzzing hub of green activity, with school children, women, and neighbouring farmers dropping by to learn and copy the model. Ms. Ingrid CHARREL and Mr. Vincent of AEM recently visited the program, seeing firsthand the impact of their support. As the centre coordinator says, "When communities own the trees, the trees own the future." With the solar pump humming on, lifting water to meet sky-high ambitions, green is indeed becoming gold in Amoor's fields — shade by shade, fruit by fruit.🌿🙏Govin</div></div>
