This was the first Oscar nomination for a Bollywood movie ever.

Salaam Bombay (1988)

A very beautiful story told in a very delicate manner, it is a must watchable movie.

Lagaan(2001)

This movie was the best nomination, Never had the whole nation felt so sad before then on the night, we missed the Oscar.

Water(2006)

Another controversial movie By Deepa Mehta and been criticized a lot for her critical portraying of these sensitive issues 

Rang De Basanti

Aamir Khan and other young actors performed very well in this movie,Unfortunately they  missed the Oscar.
