According to the memo, which was published by Thisismynext.com, the Web giant plans to launch Google Wallet near the end of summer:
...this summer Google will launch a test of "contactless" payment through a mobile device--so customers will be able to just tap a special device and pay with their phone in stores at POS! And this Thursday, Google will announce all of the innovative retailers who will be participating in their test--and guess who is on that list? You got it right! We are! And how cool that Google thought of us, The Container Store!
Stay tuned for many more details regarding this test of Google Wallet and the participating markets. We won't start this program September 1st, but thought that we should all have the heads up on this neat opportunity now because we expect it will receive a lot of press in the upcoming weeks when Google makes its official media announcement about this initiative.

Google representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Google is holding a media event in New York on Thursday in which it is expected to unveil a system that would allow users to pay for retail purchases by holding select Android-based Sprint smartphones up to a specialized reader at checkout counters (point of sales). The service is expected to tap near-field communications technology (NFC), which lets devices exchange information wirelessly with one another over very short distances, about 4 inches.

Google reportedly plans to introduce the service initially in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington, D.C., as well as partnering with MasterCard and Citigroup to allow the financial giants' customers to use their debit and credit cards to pay for purchase from their Android smartphones.

http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/uwnmQ

New Android based Smart Phone – HTC HERO

HTC from Taiwan has announced the release of its next smartphone HTC HERO which is based on Android platform. New York City is being overrun by a mutant menace and it's time to de-worm the Big Apple. This explosive 3D action game features Duke Nukem defending the city that never sleeps, and its babes, from the evil Mech Morphix across 24 levels from Chinatown to Space. A super-sized collection of weapons, enemies and bosses await. As Duke would say, "Babes, Bullets, Bombs. I love this job!"

Coming on Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010 to Xbox LIVE Arcade is the 3D Realms classic, "Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project".

The cost of the game will be 800 Microsoft Points (there will be a free demo available at that time, too). This is a single player blast fest that won a lot of fans when originally released some years ago for the PC. But this summer, you'll be able to play the game on the Xbox 360, where it's found a perfect home.
http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/uwnmQ

Blockbuster shares plunge after financing report

NEW YORK—The depressed shares of video rental chain Blockbuster Inc. lost more value Monday, on a report that the company is exploring, among other options, a type of financing that's used to keep firms afloat in bankruptcy.

Shares of the Dallas-based company fell 6.3 cents, or 23 percent, to 21 cents in afternoon trading. Since 2002, the stock has steadily declined, and has traded below $1 since the fall of 2009.

Late Friday, The Wall Street Journal said Blockbuster is trying to line up a $150 million "debtor-in-possession" loan. The newspaper cited unnamed people familiar with Blockbuster's talks.

Blockbuster stated Friday that it's negotiating with lenders and "strategic investors," but declined to be more specific. "We continue to have ongoing constructive dialogue," the company said.

Blockbuster has already warned in regulatory filings that a bankruptcy filing is a possibility, although its management has stressed they are trying to find other ways to lighten a debt load totaling more than $900 million.

Blockbuster is exploring options as its losses mount amid stiff competition from video subscription service Netflix Inc. and Redbox's DVD-rental kiosks.

Analyst Michael Pachter at Wedbush Morgan said that given that Blockbuster's earnings before interest, taxes and depreciation are less than its interest payments, "it's really just a question of when the creditors force a bankruptcy." He expects the company to go through some form of restructuring this year.

A likely outcome is that creditors keep the chain going, since Blockbuster doesn't have a lot of assets beyond its movie inventory, Pachter said. Blockbuster doesn't own its own real estate, which means creditors stand to recover little if they force the company to liquidate.

"Keeping the patient alive is the best strategy," he said. A bankruptcy filing would allow Blockbuster to renegotiate its rents, which could put it back in the black, he added.

There's a chance Blockbuster has benefited recently from the demise of rival chain Movie Gallery, which is closing all its stores, Pachter noted.
http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/uwnmQ

Same as it ever was: you can't tether an iPhone to the iPad

This isn't so much news as it is a public service announcement: even in markets where iPhone tethering has launched, you've never been able to use it to connect to an iPad, and you won't be able to when AT&T flips the switch on tethering with the release of OS 4. That's clearly not AT&T's fault, it's Apple's -- the iPhone inexplicably supports only USB and Bluetooth for sharing its internet connection, even though jailbroken apps like MyWi prove that a WiFi connection is totally doable and countless other handsets already support WiFi routing. And iPad doesn't support using another device as a Bluetooth modem, either. And as long as you're paying the tethering fee, there's no reason why AT&T wouldn't want you tethering the iPad; you'll certainly be able to do it with any phone in AT&T's lineup that can create a WiFi hotspot, after all, and we're sure they'd be happy to take your overage cash once you hit 2GB regardless of the device you're using to gobble the data.

In the meantime, you know what you can tether to an iPad? A phone running Froyo, for one -- Google was certainly happy to show off that capability back at IO. Or pretty much any device running S60 from the last several years. Or a Palm Pre Plus... yeah, you get the idea.
http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/uwnmQ

Facebook 'Like' button draws privacy scrutiny

When Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg recently announced a "Like" button that publishers could place on their Web pages, he predicted it would make the Web smarter and "more social."
What Zuckerberg didn't point out is that widespread use of the Like button allows Facebook to track people as they switch from CNN.com to Yelp.com to ESPN.com, all of which are sites that have said they will implement the feature.
Even if someone is not a Facebook user or is not logged in, Facebook's social plug-ins collect the address of the Web page being visited and the Internet address of the visitor as soon as the page is loaded--clicking on the Like button is not required. If enough sites participate, that permits Facebook to assemble a vast amount of data about Internet users' browsing habits.
http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/uwnmQ

Archos 8 Home Tablet just a 7-inch display according to FCC docs

Get a load of that bezel. With chunk like that we can only be looking at the Archos 8 Home tablet, a device that just lumbered its way through the FCC in a rather unflattering (even for the FCC) photo spread. Archos calls its Model 7800 an Android MID throughout the government docs, but given the bezel-to-display ratio we're guessing it'll pull primary duty as a $199 picture frame with the ability to track down the occasional recipe over WiFi. Other details include the same plodding Rockchip RK2808 SoC found in the Archos 7 Home Tablet and a HSD070IDW1 resistive touchscreen display from Hannstar with 800x480 pixel resolution, 25ms response, 500:1 contrast, 200/300 nits brightness, and poor 140-degree left-right and 110-degree up-down viewing angles -- easy to see where Archos cut out the cost, eh? Oh, and get this, Hannstar says that its display is 7-inches, not 8-inches as Archos claims. Either Archos made a mistake in its FCC submission or the company is hoping to mask reality in that big bezel.
http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/uwnmQ

E2200HD has been launched by BENQ in INDIA

Google Inc Chief Executive Eric Schmidt has said that his company is prepared to fight the US government "very hard" if regulators block the search leader's acquisition of mobile advertising firm AdMob.

Schmidt said AdMob had been left at a "significant disadvantage" in competing with rivals like Apple Inc due to the hiatus as regulators have closely reviewed the $750 million acquisition, which was announced in November. He said he expects a decision in a few weeks.

In an interview with Reuters, Schmidt was asked what Google would do in the event of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) suing to block the deal.

"We're likely to fight very hard," he said. "It's a very strategic acquisition for Google."

Google, which generates the majority of its profits from search advertising to Internet users on personal computers, sees its future on wireless phones and software. The company has its own mobile operating system called Android for a range of phones and this year also unveiled its own phone called the Nexus One.

Flash technology, Silverlight, social networking etc. every time there new technology for web development .this field is ever evolving .Many companies simplifies there design techniques and spend less time to write code , making a company guide to let everyone in the team to follow is a good way to ensure consistence and speedy service. Depending on how experienced a design firm is, they can choose to make it hard for themselves when designing for the web. It all goes back to what you agree with your clients, and meeting their expectations. Agreeing to some unrealistic expectation will make the job harder, requiring more time, and most likely resulting in a bad investment of overall resources. Web design and programming continue to evolve, and while learning them may not be the challenge, trying to make full use of them is. By doing their research and learning the new technologies, web designers can make their transition a smoother one.
http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/uwnmQ

CGI is new Gasoline engine technology is introduced in india by Mercedez Benz. There are some 2-3 models of C class cars are there which is going to launch in India. This technology enable the engine to run with high excess air which increase fuel efficiency. The CGI technology is petrol direct injection system with spray guided
combustion process. In India this type of cars will rarely run on road.As this technology is costly so definitely car is going to be costly on road. However this cars are already launched in western countries and got good response from customer. However Mercedes-Benz India announced the launch of the M-Class. The new M-Class
is available in two engine choices: the ML 320 CDI (diesel engine) and
the ML 350 (petrol engine) varying from 53 lakhs to 60 lakhs
http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/uwnmQ

Secret behind having chrome OS in ACER Netbook

Acer is going to launch the first Netbook having chrome OS. Before couple of days someone leaked the information on 4G technology. It support interactive services such as video conferencing with more than two places, Bandwidth will be higher near about 100 MHZ. The cost of the data transfer would be comparatively very less and global mobility would be possible. However its successor of 3G technology which is not in use completely till now because of high cost for installation. Let’s wait for this newest technology
.
http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/uwnmQ

Lenovo's ThinkPad L Series is now cheaper and faster

Lenovo may not have had its ThinkPad L Series laptops out in time for Earth Day, but the company's found an arguably even better incentive to help you help them save the environment: a nice fat upgrade and a small sale to commemorate their new availability. While we were originally told the $649 ThinkPad L412 would house a lowly Celeron P4500 inside its post-consumer-content housing, it appears Lenovo has decided against using that chip entirely -- cue applause -- in favor of the 2.13GHz Core i3-330. What's more, both the 14-inch L412 and 15.6-inch L512 also come with double the memory (2GB in total) and are presently on sale for just $599. -Press release
http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/uwnmQ

Intel talk's about Next Generation Chips

Intel on Thursday officially released its next-generation chips, which should improve the system performance and battery life of laptops.

For the past year, the chip maker has talked about the chips as a giant upgrade over existing Core chips that go into laptops and desktops. The chips provide close to double the processing and graphics performance than their comparable predecessors.

The chips were announced at a press conference during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The chips are shipping and systems based on the chips should be available this month, the company said.

The new chips fall under the brands of Core i3 for low-end systems, Core i5 for midrange systems and Core i7 for the fastest systems, generally aimed at enthusiasts and gamers. The new processors include dual-core laptop chips under the three brands running between 1.06GHz and 2.66GHz, and desktop chips running between 2.93GHz and 3.46GHz

The new desktop processors include two Core i5 and two Core i3 chips. The fastest Core i5 chip is the Core i5-670, which runs at 3.46GHz and is priced at the $284. The fastest Core i3 chips is the Core i3-540, which runs at 3.06GHz and is priced at $133.
http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/uwnmQ

<media:rating>nonadult</media:rating>
