Why Canada backs Israel over Gaza

How to explain Canada's position on Gaza? This country used to tread a delicate diplomatic line between Israel and Palestine. But today, both the governing Conservatives and opposition Liberals are hewing tightly to Israel.

The carnage in Gaza is both lopsided and graphic. As the death toll among Palestinians rises, even neutral international bodies have become critical of Israel.

The UN suspended relief supplies to Gaza after Israeli troops allegedly shot and killed one of its aid drivers. The International Committee of the Red Cross has broken its usual tactful silence to accuse Israel of breaching international humanitarian law.

Yet both the Conservatives, through their junior foreign minister Peter Kent, and the Liberals, through newly-annointed leader Michael Ignatieff, insist that Israel bears no responsibility, that its destruction of Gaza is a measured response to Hamas' sporadic rocket attacks and that the Islamic organization is solely to blame.

For a country that once prided itself on its even-handed approach to the Middle East, Canada's new position represents a curious shift.

The reasons are twofold. The first has to do with 9/11 and the rethinking in many world capitals about organizations, like Hamas, that explicitly endorse terrorism.

In Canada's case, this was heightened by the government's desire to cleave to U.S. President George W. Bush.

The second reason, however, has to do with domestic politics and the succession of minority parliaments in Ottawa. In a world where no single party can command a majority of MPs, individual ridings become even more significant.

And among some voters in some ridings, support for Israel is a make-or-break issue.

At one level, none of this new. Identity politics predates Confederation. The fact that Brampton produces Sikh politicians is not unrelated to the number of Sikhs living in that city. In some parts of what used to be called Scotch Ontario, canny politicians still show up at events in their kilts.

Similarly, and for understandable reasons, many – if not most – Jews vigorously support Israel.

In ridings where there is a significant Jewish population, this matters. Kent, for instance, may back Israel as a matter of deeply held principle. But if he did not, this might well hurt him in Thornhill, a riding that he narrowly won last year and one in which the electorate, according to Statistics Canada, is about 36 per cent Jewish.

As for Ignatieff, he's still trying to recover from his 2006 accusation that Israel's bombing of Qana in Lebanon constituted a war crime.

Indeed, he was arguably correct. But for a politician operating in an environment where one seat could make the difference between opposition and government, it was a dangerous remark.

Theoretically, identity politics should also work for pro-Palestinians, particularly in ridings containing significant numbers of Muslims. But it does not. In part, this is because Muslims tend to be new immigrants who have not yet mastered the techniques of Canadian ethnic politics. In part, it is because those who hail from places outside the Middle East, such as South Asia, do not necessarily view Palestine as an existential issue.

For many Canadian Jews, however, Israel is literally a matter of life and death. As long as enough hold this view, Israel's welfare will be a defining issue in a handful of ridings. And as long as Canada's Parliament remains hung, no major political party will want to risk alienating this handful.

Toronto Bans Bottled Water Sales, but Junk Sodas Remain Legal

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions, they say. And to prove it, the city of Toronto has decided to outlaw the sale of bottled water in all municipal buildings, including local arenas.

But rather than being an example of smart, progressive action to protect the environment, this decision is actually just a timely example of the tyranny of good intentions. Here's why:

For starters, the decision was made by city leaders who say their TAP WATER is what people should be drinking, not bottled water. Oh really? Did these people bother to educate themselves about chlorine or fluoride chemicals? Without question, the tap water in Toronto has far greater toxicity than bottled water, even considering the Bisphenol-A effect.

But that's a debatable issue. Here's something that's not debatable: While banning bottled water, the city of Toronto did NOT ban diet soda and soft drink beverages.

Huh? So now selling water is illegal, but selling carbonated SUGAR water is perfectly legal?

Gee, the soda companies must be laughing their heads off on this one. They were trying to muscle out bottled water for years (before they came up with their own water brands), and now it turns out the goofs at City Hall are doing it for them!

Whatever happened to the idea of giving citizens healthy choices in beverages? Toronto, in all its short-sighted wisdom, has now granted the soda companies a virtual monopoly on beverages sold at the local arenas. With no bottled water available, what do they think people are going to drink instead? Soda, of course. Loaded with phosphoric acid (causes osteoporosis), high-fructose corn syrup (diabetes) and maybe even aspartame (neurological disorders).

Welcome to the Toronto municipal arena. Please enjoy the show if you haven't yet gone blind from drinking diet soda.

I know I'm going to get hate mail for this, but it deserves to be said: Some of the people serving on city councils are the dumbest human beings walking this earth. I know this because I've argued with these people over issues like fluoridation, and I can tell you that, at least in my experience, the kind of people who end up on many city council boards are so intellectually challenged that I've often wondered if they all take the short bus to the meetings. (No insult meant to those taking the short bus. It's less bumpy, anyway.) My apologies to the smart minority who reside on these boards, but you'll no doubt agree with me that the people sitting next to you need a little intellectual remediation, right?

I haven't met the Toronto council members, so I can't say if they're thoughtful but short-sighted, or just plain stupid. But I suspect a majority are just plain stupid, and they managed to overrule the thoughtful ones who were asking things like, "Well, gee, why are we denying people the ability to buy water at public events?"

If the BOTTLE is the problem, then they should have banned ALL bottles, not the water inside the bottles!

Water = Illegal; Sugar Water = Legal
Okay, okay, okay... so let me get this straight:

If I sell a bottle with water in it, I'm a criminal.

But if I add 16 teaspoons of sugar in the water, suddenly that's legal!

And if I add dangerous chemical sweeteners, phosphoric acid that rots away kids' teeth, and any number of chemical additives, then that's all perfectly fine with the Toronto city council!

Ok, so now I get it.

Water = bad

Sugar water = good

Thanks, Toronto, for clarifying that.

Maybe instead of banning plastic bottles, Toronto should ban stupidity from the city council!

Ban the soda cans, too, while you're at it, and save the world from excessive aluminum trash. I agree that throwaway beverage containers are a huge problem, and Toronto is usually an intelligent city that thinks ahead, but in this case they've demonstrated why liberal tyranny can be just as threatening to your freedoms as conservative tyranny.

Yes, my own government in America may be tapping my phone lines, reading my email and X-raying my UPS packages, but at least I can still buy a bottle of water here! Sure, it's probably contaminated with Bisphenol-A and made from nothing but filtered tap water, but at least it's filtered! Toronto citizens now have to drink from the tap, like house pets.

So the citizens of Toronto are now being offered the same quality of water that their dogs get when drinking from the toilet bowl.

How wonderful. Can I have a lemon with that, please?

Hey Toronto, how do like having a big ol' bad American criticize your Supreme Ruler?

Does it upset all you fake liberals and socialists that an American DARE make critical comment on how YOUR fair city is being run into the ground?

Let's not forget the fake conservatives, what's YOUR response? Oh, and don't use the usual political default, "See, told ya so".

None of the brainwashed that are still caught up in the "left-right paradigm" can offer any reasonable solutions that don't involve pushing us deeper down the hole of a complete nanny state and tyranny.

Canadians, especially Ontarians seem oblivious to the fact, or are so deep in denial over the FACT that we are being led into a taxed to death, civil rights annihilation,police state.

Do you still think fluoride is good for your brain? It's all right in front of your very eyes and still you continue to deny the reality.

Harper plans to ask GG to prorogue Parliament

Prime Minister Stephen Harper is set to shut down Parliament in a last-ditch bid to fend off a constitutional crisis and the defeat of his government.

Sources told Sun Media the government will ask Gov. Gen. Michaelle Jean tomorrow to prorogue Parliament until the new year.

Jean, who is cutting short a four-country European trip to deal with the domestic political crisis, is not expected to use the rarely exercised power to refuse the PM's request.

The crisis reached fever pitch yesterday, as Harper accused Stephane Dion of selling out to the separatists to win power.

The PM warned of a looming unity crisis if the pact supported by the Bloc Quebecois was permitted to proceed.

As new Tory ads blitzed radio waves and websites, Tory MPs hollered "Traitor!" and "Shame on you!" at Dion in the House of Commons for forging what they called a "separatist coalition."

"This deal that the leader of the Liberal Party has made with the separatists is a betrayal of the voters of this country, a betrayal of the best interests of our economy, a betrayal of the best interests of our country, and we will fight it with every means that we have," Harper said.

An angry Dion accused Harper of "lies" and said the coalition is good for national unity. "My fellow Quebecers who believe in separation are more likely to be reconciled with Canada if we work with them than if we marginalize them," he said.

One of the most raucous sessions in recent memory ended with a Tory chorus of O Canada in the government lobby. Minutes later, Duceppe was at the microphone saying he'll continue to work in the best interests of sovereignty.

"(NDP Leader Jack) Layton and Dion won't change. They're federalists and I'm a sovereigntist," he said. "I think every gain we're making here is good for Quebec, and what's good for Quebec is good for a sovereign Quebec."

Harper was to face a vote of non-confidence Monday, but the prorogation will delay a potential defeat of his government until late January.

Insisting he is only delaying the inevitable, Layton slammed Harper for turning the issue into a unity crisis.

"He was prepared to work with Mr. Duceppe before. He in fact survived as a government with the support of Mr. Duceppe before and never made these observations," he said.

Earlier in the day, a senior aide to the PM briefed reporters on the government's plan to use "every legal means" at its disposal to stop the coalition. Brandishing the covers of major daily newspapers --including Sun Media's bold No! No! No! headline -- he said public opinion is on the side of the Conservatives.

The Tories will continue to try and divide the coalition parties, and to rally support through public protests, online petitions and radio ads. The prime minister could also give a televised address to the nation later this week.

Meanwhile, Liberal Party president Doug Ferguson launched a "grassroots call to action" to rally support for the coalition.

They say that there is no honor among thieves...this is textbook kids! This whole dog and pony show is probably the worst international embarrassment this generation of brainwashed, dumbed-down Canadians has ever experienced.

The sad part of all this scripted fiction is the fact that a majority of Canadians actually believe that there is some monumental, uber-historical event taking place here. This couldn't be further from the truth.

All the rhetoric and acting going on in Ottawa is quite deliberate in the fact that it REALLY is a calculated distraction perpetrated by ALL parties involved. A smokescreen being used quite effectively by the bankers, corporations and the military industrial complex elite to masterfully execute the most massive, overt ROBBERY of Canadas' resources and individual Canadians pensions, savings, investments and anything else they can steal.

These PUPPETS in Ottawa are nothing more than a pack of snivelling criminals. They are abetting the corporate, banking elite as they implode the economy and move in to consolidate OUR wealth.

Look at what happened in Iceland. Study it closely. It's where we are headed.

Hit TV Series To Feature 9/11 Conspiracy Plot

The hit TV series Rescue Me, a drama about New York City firefighters, is set to feature a 9/11 conspiracy plot in the first ten episodes of the new series, according to the show’s main star Denis Leary.

Leary revealed the details during a book signing in Los Angeles, where he also offered his forthright personal opinion on the collapse of WTC Building 7, a 47-story skyscraper that collapsed into its own footprint on the late afternoon of 9/11 despite not being hit by a plane.

“When asked by a hesitant fan as to whether or not the actor thought there should be a reinvestigation into the events leading up to and surrounding the 9/11 tragedy, Leary’s eyes lit up as he revealed that conspiracy and reinvestigation into 9/11 are, in fact, major plot lines in the first 10 episodes of Rescue Me season 5, set to premiere in April 2009 for a 22-episode run on FX,” reports L.A. Weekly.

But Leary deflected questions about the collapse of Building 7, stating, “You guys don’t want to get into that with me,” adding that he “knew several of the guys who had been there working to hold that building up.”

Perhaps Leary also knows some of the people who are on tape on 9/11 saying that the building is “about to blow up” too? Perhaps Leary can help explain how a massive skyscraper which had been structurally reinforced can implode within 7 seconds after suffering limited fires across no more than ten floors and in doing so completely defy the laws of physics?

Perhaps Leary’s friends can tell us why the Windsor Building in Madrid burned like a raging inferno for 24 hours yet retained its structural integrity?

The L.A. Weekly failed to report what happened at the end of the conversation. After the question about Building 7, security thugs stepped in, blocked the camera and proceeded to kick the protagonists out of the bookstore. There was no hostility or impoliteness on the part of the 9/11 truthers, but apparently Leary’s security thinks it necessary to physically eject anyone who expresses an opinion different to his.

The real hero in all of this is obviously Daniel Sunjata, who co-stars in Rescue Me. Sunjata has been a vocal advocate for the 9/11 truth movement in questioning 9/11 and he likely had a massive influence on the decision of the script writers to dramatize the issue.

The prevalence of 9/11 truth in a plethora of different mediums is exactly what is required to spread the truth and wake up people who would not necessarily come into contact with this information through the usual channels.

We applaud the staff of Rescue Me for having the fortitude to tackle this vital issue.

Icelanders Storm Central Bank

Icelanders protest economic meltdown

REYKJAVIK, Iceland: Thousands of Icelanders marked the 90th anniversary of their nation's sovereignty with angry protest Monday, and several hundred stormed the central bank to demand the ouster of bankers they blame for the country's spectacular economic meltdown.

Tiny Iceland has seen its banks and currency collapse in just a few weeks while prices and unemployment soar — leaving a country regarded as a model of Scandinavian prosperity in a state of shock.

"The government played roulette and the whole nation has lost," writer Einar Mar Gudmundsson told a noisy but peaceful anti-government rally of several thousand people in downtown Reykjavik.

After the rally, hundreds of protesters stormed the headquarters of Sedlabanki, Iceland's central bank, demanding the sacking of its chief, David Oddsson.

The demonstrators staged an hour-long standoff with shield-wielding riot police inside the bank's lobby, singing songs and chanting "Out with David" and "Power to the People." The protest ended peacefully when both police and demonstrators agreed to withdraw.

Anti-government protests have been growing larger and angrier since Iceland's three main banks collapsed in October under the weight of huge debts amassed during years of rapid economic growth.

Since then the value of the country's currency, the krona, has plummeted. Icelanders who grew used to buying houses and cars with easily available foreign-currency loans now struggle to repay them. The cost of everyday goods is skyrocketing — furniture retailer Ikea hiked its prices by 25 percent last month.

Iceland has been forced to seek $10 billion in aid from the International Monetary Fund and individual countries.

Prime Minister Geir H. Haarde told The Associated Press on Saturday that Iceland's economy would get even worse next year, with a "severe drop" in GDP and purchasing power and rising unemployment.

Haarde said he does not accept personal responsibility for the crisis. He blames commercial bankers who expanded recklessly in the wake of a mid-1990s stock market boom.

But the protest organizers and many other Icelanders say government oversight of the banks was too weak. They want Haarde's coalition government to resign and hold new elections by next spring. By law, Haarde does not have to call a vote until 2011.

Settled by Vikings more than 1,000 years ago and later colonized by Denmark, Iceland became a self-governing country under the Danish crown on Dec. 1, 1918. The volcanic island gained full independence in 1944.

Throughout the anniversary Monday, Icelanders threw taunts, the occasional egg and acts of political theater at a government many now hold in contempt.

Much of the protest — held on a wind-swept hill overlooked by a statue of Iceland's first Viking settler, Ingolfur Arnarson — had a distinctively Nordic flavor. One protester threw meat and cheese onto the lawn of nearby Government House, encouraging the ravens to come and whisk the government away.

Artist Hildur Margretadottir came to the demonstration holding an artificial horse's head on a stick — her version of an old Norse technique for putting a curse on an enemy.

"I am turning it toward the central bank," she said.

She said Iceland's bankers and politicians "were gambling with our money, and they still are."

Across Icelandic society, political disillusionment runs deep.

Marketing manager Runar Birgisson said he helped vote Haarde's government into power.

"Today, I wouldn't elect any of them," he said. "I wouldn't hire them to clean my toilet."

This is precisely what those of us here in North America will be staring down the barrel of within the next 6-12 months.

Down we go again: Fourth-worst drop ever for Dow

Wall Street breaks 5-day win streak as stocks plunge; Dow down 680 in 4th-worst decline

NEW YORK (AP) -- The stock market suffered one of its worst days since the financial meltdown Monday, slicing 680 points off the Dow Jones industrial average as Wall Street snapped out of its daydream of a rally and once again faced the harsh reality of a recession.

Not only did stocks end their five-day winning streak, they erased more than half the gains. The Standard & Poor's 500 stock index, one of the broadest market gauges, lost nearly 9 percent.

Erasing any lingering doubts, there was also finally an officially declared recession -- in progress in the United States since December 2007, according to the National Bureau of Economic Research, the nonprofit group of economists that classifies business cycles.

"This is just another episode in a long story and the story is all about recession and the question is how long and how deep," said Chuck Widger, chief executive and chairman of investment management firm Brinker Capital. "We're going to have continuing volatility until investors have better visibility."

"All the data is being filtered to answer the two questions of how deep and how long the recession will be," he added.

The selling was broad and deep. All 30 of the stocks in the Dow Jones industrial average finished lower. On the New York Stock Exchange, more than 7 stocks fell for every one that rose.

The Dow lost 679.95 points to close at about 8,149. There have only been three days in market history with bigger point losses for the Dow -- the Monday after the Sept. 11 attacks, and Sept. 29 and Oct. 15 of this year.

Bond prices jumped as investors sought the safety of government debt. The yield on the three-month Treasury bill, considered one of the safest investments, slipped to a very slim 0.03 percent. That indicates investors are willing to accept tiny returns just to park their cash somewhere safe.

Investors were also nervous after weekend sales figures indicated that many Americans will cut back their trips to the mall this holiday season. Monday brought additional bad news: Manufacturing had dropped to its worst levels in 26 years and that construction spending fell by a larger-than-expected amount in October.

Although Monday's plunge was notable because it cut short a five-day rally -- the first such winning streak for the Dow and the S&P 500 since July 2007 -- it also fit what has become a pattern on Wall Street: The market makes big moves higher, including triple-digit gains in the Dow, only to quickly give them back as another batch of bad news arrives.

"We've got a tug-of-war of war going on," said Al Goldman, chief market strategist at Wachovia Securities in St. Louis. "On one side there's the prospect of several more months of bad economic news and on the other side there's lots of stimulus already on the table."

Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson said Monday the Bush administration is looking for more ways to tap the $700 billion financial rescue program and will consult with Congress and the incoming Obama administration.

The decline Monday indicated that last week's rally was merely a hiatus from, not an end to, the wrenching volatility on Wall Street since the market's peak in October 2007 peak.

During the five-day win streak, which began when word reached Wall Street that President-elect Barack Obama would name New York Federal Reserve chief Timothy Geithner as his treasury secretary, the Dow had gained 1,276 points, and the S&P 500 had surged almost 20 percent.

In normal times, the markets might gain that much in two good years, not five days. So analysts said a pullback was understandable.

Friday's unofficial start to the holiday shopping season wasn't the bust that some investors had feared but indicated that, at best, consumers will be more fickle in their spending this year.

Retail sales jumped Friday as consumers snapped up items like flat-panel televisions and video game consoles that carried huge discounts. But parking lots became less crowded Saturday and Sunday.

Downbeat economic reports only fanned investors' concerns. The Institute for Supply Management, a trade group of purchasing executives, said its index of manufacturing activity fell to a 26-year low in November. At the same time, the Commerce Department said construction spending fell by a larger-than-expected amount in October.

The weak readings weren't a surprise, but they offered further evidence that the economy is suffering.

Financial stocks tumbled as investors grappled with doubts about the ultimate success of the government's efforts to prop up the banking sector. Citigroup tumbled 22 percent, while Morgan Stanley stock fell 23 percent and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. fell 17 percent.

Wall Street is also awaiting some sort of resolution for automakers, who return to Washington this week in search of $25 billion in government support. General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler LLC are scheduled to hand Congress their plans for remaking themselves with government money.

The price of oil fell sharply after the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries decided not to cut production over the weekend and as investors bet slowing economic activity would hurt demand. Light, sweet crude dropped $5.15 to $49.28 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Only 218 stocks were in positive territory on the New York Stock Exchange while 2,693 declined. Consolidated volume came to 5.79 billion shares; it was at 2.63 billion on Friday when the market was only open a half day.

The dollar fell against other major currencies. Gold prices also fell.

Overseas, Japan's Nikkei stock average fell 1.35 percent. Britain's FTSE 100 was down 5.19 percent, Germany's DAX index was down 5.88 percent, and France's CAC-40 fell 5.59 percent.

Oil dropping like a rock is designed to bankrupt the Arab oil producing nations.
Once this occurs get ready for an absolute hellish takeover by the military industrial complex as they consolidate the wealth of the middle east for their own consumption.

Mumbai Terrorists Were Aided By Indian Authorities

Numerous disturbing details now strongly indicate that the terrorists who indiscriminately slaughtered nearly 200 people in Mumbai were aided by some elements of the Indian security apparatus responsible for protecting the city.

It has now been confirmed that the Indian security services received numerous precise warnings that terrorists were planning to arrive by sea and attack the Taj Mahal hotel, but if anything security was relaxed, allowing the terrorists to prolong the attack for days and not hours.

The CIA’s station chief in Delhi told Indian intelligence in September that terrorists were planning to arrive via the sea and attack the Taj Mahal hotel with small arms and/or bombs. Security measures around the hotel were increased in response to the warning but relaxed just days before the attack.

This was just one of a “series of warnings of a possible attack on Mumbai by sea in the months leading up to last week’s devastating onslaught,” reports AFP.

Many Indians are furious at the botched response that allowed the attacks to drag on for days and are incredulous at eyewitness reports of Indian police refusing to fire back at the terrorists as they carried out their rampage with AK-47’s, forcing gangs of citizens to go hand to hand with the armed assailants.

Was a stand down issue ordered or were there terrorists within the police units? Sebastian D’Souza, a picture editor at the Mumbai Mirror, took many of the now infamous photos of the terrorists, but his main concern at the time was the fact that armed police would not shoot at the terrorists despite them being sitting ducks.

“What angered Mr D’Souza almost as much were the masses of armed police hiding in the area who simply refused to shoot back,” reports the Belfast Telegraph. “There were armed policemen hiding all around the station but none of them did anything,” he said. “At one point, I ran up to them and told them to use their weapons. I said, ‘Shoot them, they’re sitting ducks!’ but they just didn’t shoot back.”

“As the gunmen fired at policemen taking cover across the street, Mr D’Souza realised a train was pulling into the station unaware of the horror within. “I couldn’t believe it. We rushed to the platform and told everyone to head towards the back of the station. Those who were older and couldn’t run, we told them to stay put.”

India’s warmongering rhetoric against Pakistan is partly a steam valve to deflect from the fact that they were given a specific warning that this would happen and not only failed to prevent it, but let the whole thing drag out for days.

An obvious effort to pin the blame on Lashkar-e-Toiba and by extension Pakistan, despite the terrorist group’s flat denial of responsibility, is now encapsulated by the suspected manufacturing of evidence.

Satellite phones and identity documents linking the attack to Pakistanis was conveniently discovered by the Indians just as the flight manuals and the paper passports of the hijackers were found immediately after 9/11.

Unsurprisingly, the Indians killed all but one of the terrorists, a clean cut English speaking Pakistani, Azam Amir Qasab, who is singing from the same hymn sheet as the Indians implicating Pakistan and saying he was trained by Pakistan. The corporate media has swallowed the story hook line and sinker, refusing to even raise the prospect that such a confession was obtained through torture.

Again we ask the question, what on earth would Pakistan, who have been making strenuous peace overtures towards India recently, possibly have to gain from sponsoring a brutal attack against innocent civilians the full horror of which is played out on international television for all to see? How can it possibly benefit Pakistan to now have the full might of the U.S. military, with an incoming president who’s made it very clear that he’s fully prepared to expand the bombing raids, trained on Pakistan, along with the suspicion of the rest of the world?

How can that possibly be of any benefit? This wasn’t an attack on the Parliament building. This wasn’t an attempt to decapitate government in any way - it was an indiscriminate assault on innocent people going about their business at hotels, restaurants and subways. It was a senseless massacre that will ultimately help the geopolitical agenda of nobody other than the Indians and the U.S., who now have the perfect pretext to expand bombing raids in Pakistan and entrench themselves in Afghanistan.

As soon as attack in Mumbai began to unfold, despite confusion as to its perpetrators and its motive, U.S. aircraft carriers were moving towards the Pakistan border.

As we predicted right from the beginning, no matter who the real perpetrators were, the attack was always going to be blamed on Pakistan as a means of re-igniting a nuclear cold war that reaped massive profits for the military-industrial complex who armed both sides the last time such tensions peaked at the start of the decade.

Coordinated attacks across Mumbai, India’s financial capital, which have killed up to a hundred people and injured hundreds more, are likely to be blamed on a terrorist organization linked to the Pakistani ISI, providing further justification for controversial U.S. bombings inside Pakistani territory and heightened rhetoric against Pakistan on behalf of President elect Barack Obama.

Terrorists armed with AK-47’s and grenades conduced a series of rampages on hotels, restaurants and public transport facilities today, killing around 80 and injuring over 250 people. Initial reports that terrorists had seized western hostages were later dismissed by Indian government officials.

With the corporate media desperate to pin the blame in order to score much needed propaganda points for the ailing war on terror, suspicion is likely to fall on Pakistan, a country that President elect Barack Obama openly threatened during his presidential campaign.

The bombings in Mumbai will also likely silence questions about controversial U.S. bombing raids inside Pakistani territory aimed at terrorists, strikes that have repeatedly killed innocent civilians.

It is commonly asserted that the Pakistani ISI helps fund and train terrorists.

Journalist Stephen Schwartz notes that several terrorist and criminal groups are “backed by senior officers in the Pakistani army, the country’s ISI intelligence establishment and other armed bodies of the state.” Author Daniel Byman states, “Pakistan is probably today’s most active sponsor of terrorism.”

Indeed, Indian police claimed that the Pakistani ISI directed the July 2006 train bombing in Mumbai which killed 186 people, which was blamed on the Islamist militant group Lashkar-e-Toiba, an organization based in Pakistan. Look for the same organization or an affiliated group to be blamed for today’s attacks.

As Bloomberg reports today, “The government has previously blamed terrorist attacks on organizations linked to foreign powers, without offering evidence or making arrests. Local media often blame the attacks on groups backed by Pakistan or Bangladesh, without identifying the security officials who provided the information.”

With shrill corporate media outfits begging for a scapegoat to be used as war on terror propaganda, it won’t be long before an Al-Qaeda-Pakistan link is claimed. Indeed, early reports already state that the attacks are “thought to be linked to Al-Qaeda,” offering no evidence and in spite of the fact that an unknown group, Deccan Mujahideen, has clamed responsibility for the massacre. The Deccan Plateau is a large plateau in India, suggesting this is where the terrorist group was based.

The city of Toronto is taking steps to turn the storied Matador Club – after-hours honky-tonk to waiters, rounders and Hollywood stars – into a parking lot.

Co-owner Ann Dunn has rejected the city's $800,000 purchase offer, saying, "I've paid more than twice that in taxes over the past 43 years."

City officials say they will make another offer and, if agreement cannot be reached, recommend to city council next month that the land be expropriated.

"We've identified that area as high-demand (for parking)," Toronto Parking Authority president Gwyn Thomas said this week.

Levelling the Matador would create a 20-space lot, he said, handy for people using the West End YMCA at 931 College St., kitty-corner to the club at 466 Dovercourt Rd.

Early details about the horrific school shooting at Virginia Tech strongly indicate that these events represent a Columbine-style black-op that will be exploited in the coming days to push for mass gun control and further turning our schools into prisons.

Eyewitness Matt Kazee told the Alex Jones Show that it was a full two to three hours after the shootings began that loudspeakers installed around the campus were used to warn students to stay indoors and that a shooter was on the loose.

Quite how the killer was afforded so much time before any action was taken to stop him is baffling, especially considering the fact that the campus, according to Kazee, was crawling with police before the event happened due to numerous bomb threats that had been phoned in last week.

The shootings came three days after a bomb threat Friday forced the cancellation of classes in three buildings, WDBJ in Roanoke reported. Also, the 100,000-square-foot Torgersen Hall was evacuated April 2 after police received a written bomb threat, The Roanoke Times reported.

The details that are beginning to emerge fill the criteria that this could very well be another government black-op that will be used as justification for more gun control and turing our schools into prisons, festooned with armed guards, surveillance cameras and biometric scanning to gain entry.

Ironic therefore it is that Virginia is a concealed carry state and yet Virginia Tech campus recently enforced a policy prohibiting "unauthorized possession, storage or control" of firearms on campus. According to gun rights activists such as Aaron Zelman of Jews For The Preservation of Firearms, VA Tech has "blood on its hands" for disarming the 21 victims who could potentially have defended themselves against the killer.

Initial reports suggested there were two shooters, but the story quickly changed to just one shooter who later killed himself (as happens in almost all these cases) or was shot by police.

Eyewitness accounts describe police hiding behind trees and failing to pursue the killer, while ordering the school to be placed on lockdown so nobody could escape the carnage as the killer picked off his targets with seemingly little interruption from the police.

At the moment, the official death toll is 30, but could rise, making this the deadliest school shooting in history.

If these figures are accurate, the casualty figures surpass those of the school shooting at Columbine in 1999 when Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris killed 12 students and a teacher before killing themselves.

It is well documented that disturbing questions remain over the incident at Columbine. It is clear that authorities had prior knowledge of what was going to happen. Observers were in the area hours before the shooting took place. Articles from the Associated Press stated that ballistics from Columbine show that six of the thirteen victims were possibly shot and killed by Jefferson County SWAT. Information is still being kept secret.

In the aftermath of Columbine there were calls for vastly increased gun control laws, more than 15 state legislatures passed significant gun control bills or dropped NRA-supported bills.

In 1996 a similar incident occurred in Dunblane in Scotland where sixteen children and one adult were killed. The resulting inquiry recommended tighter control of handgun ownership, public feeling had turned against private gun ownership, allowing a much more restrictive ban on handguns to pass.

It then emerged that the killer Thomas Hamilton was heavily involved in Freemasonry, as well as running clubs for young boys, a fact which Labour and Tory ministers acknowledged in correspondence to each other. A a 100-year public secrecy order was placed on the documents, along with the majority of other information relating to the case including the police report. There have been allegations that the lengthy closure order was placed on the report after it linked Hamilton to figures in the Scottish establishment, including two senior politicians and a lawyer.

In both the Dunblane and Columbine cases the shooters turned the guns on themselves after the killing spree was over.

RCMP'S BOGEYS PILE UP

In the final week of August, 2001, nine members of the RCMP brass up to the rank of deputy commissioner jetted off to a luxurious New Brunswick resort for unspecified “meetings” with each other, and a round or two of golf at the five-star St. Andrew’s country club.

By the time their score cards and expense accounts had been tallied, the happy Horsemen had trotted up bills of more than $8,000 a day.

The good news is the Mounties were not directly taking Canadian taxpayers for a musical ride.

The bad news is these high-ranking leaders of Canada’s national law-enforcement agency were paying for their luxury golf retreat by sucking funds from the pension savings of the 26,000 dedicated men and women under their command.

Worse, most were connected to the RCMP board specifically entrusted with ensuring the Mounties’ pensions funds are protected and prudently administered.

A staffer of one of the lucky duffers wrote the following e-mail regarding the required invoicing for the junket.

“I need to make an adjustment on the rate for the RCMP Pension Advisory Board ... The purpose of this is to hide the golf rates in the room rates and to expense the golf ... Also, can you make sure the golf club employees are aware of the payment arrangement. Last year, they seemed a little confused.”

Last year? How many similar golf trips had preceded the St. Andrew’s getaway, no one seems to know for sure.

What we do know is that jet-set junkets were only a tiny piece of a much broader ethical rot.

Four separate probes over a period of almost three years, including a lengthy criminal investigation by Ottawa city police, uncovered an estimated $3.4 million in RCMP pension funds had been misspent over a three-year period.

Until now, both the current Conservative government and the previous Liberal bunch have tried their best to wish away the stench of the latest scandal to rock the RCMP.

But some shocking testimony from past and present Mounties at a Commons committee recently has forced Public Security Minister Stockwell Day to order an independent probe, while not ruling out a full public inquiry.

If it weren’t such an appalling abuse of authority and trust, this latest chapter of Dudley Do-Wrong would be the perfect spoof.

While the men were out putting at St. Andrew’s, for instance, many of their kids, spouses and assorted relatives were slaving away at the RCMP pension board, some for only double the going rate of pay.

Nepotism in hiring

One investigation revealed that of 65 people hired at the board, 49 were there through outright nepotism in direct contravention of federal regulations, and many of them were overpaid by a total of more than $200,000.

One of the biggest-ticket snafus was in the contracting department — $1.3 million that was charged to the pension plan for “work of little value,” notably the same phrase that came to define the sponsorship scandal.

But the most breathtaking part of this sorry saga is how the Mounties so diligently managed to not get their man, even when he was sitting in the next office at RCMP headquarters.

When a brave RCMP employee named Denise Revine first blew the whistle to Chief Supt. Fraser Macaulay in 2003, a criminal investigation was immediately launched.

But two days later, then-RCMP commish Giuliano Zaccardelli — who has denied any wrongdoing in this case — canned the criminal probe and turned the matter over to his department’s internal auditors.

In October of that year, the auditors confirmed, yesiree, there had indeed been some hanky-panky in high places, and sent a copy of their findings to the auditor general.

Three months later, Zaccardelli called in the Ottawa city police to launch a supposedly independent criminal investigation of the Mounties and the alleged pension pilfering.

We say “supposedly independent” because it sure didn’t look like one.

The investigation was conducted by a team of 15 — 13 Mounties and only two Ottawa cops, all of them operating out of an office at RCMP headquarters, and reporting to a deputy commissioner of the RCMP.

After a 15-month investigation, not a single criminal charge was laid, and by a stroke of good fortune for those involved, so much time had elapsed for the audit and investigation that the statute of limitations on disciplinary action had also expired.

Instead, of the nine members of the St. Andrew’s golf and pension-pinching club, we are told at least five are still on the force and most have been promoted after “a day of ethics training.”

Two eventually resigned, but only after sitting at home on full pay for more than 18 months. Both were given performance bonuses of more than $10,000 each for their fine contribution to the RCMP during their final year on the golf tour.

Since blowing the whistle more than three years ago, Denise Revine has been forced to work from home.

Republican Congressman and Presidential candidate Ron Paul says U.S. President Bush has presided over a system wide doctrine of violating the Constitution, from the Iraq War in the "War on Terrorism" and pursuing a North American Union agenda, without legally required Congressional oversight. Such oversight is legally prescribed by the U.S. Constitution.

During an interview with Alex Jones on the GCN Radio network, Paul had outlined the likely scenario as to how impeachment proceedings would unfold.

"I'd be surprised if they win both - I think they're going to win one body and if they win the House right now they do not say they would have an impeachment but I think the way that place operates I think they probably will make every effort," said Paul.

"If they happened to have a ten or fifteen vote margin that would be a political thing - it would be payback time."

Paul said that Bush should be impeached not under the umbrella of partisan vengeance but for ceaselessly breaking the laws of the land.

"I would have trouble arguing that he's been a Constitutional President and once you violate the Constitution and be proven to do that I think these people should be removed from office."

Opining that the U.S. had entered a period of "soft fascism," Paul noted that the legacy of the Bush administration has been the total abandonment of Constitutional principles.

"Congress has generously ignored the Constitution while the President flaunts it, the courts have ignored it and they get in the business of legislating so there's no respect for the rule of law." said Paul.

"When the President signs all these bills and then adds statements after saying I have no intention of following it - he's in a way signing it and vetoing - so in his mind he's vetoing a lot of bills, in our mind under the rule of law he hasn't vetoed a thing."

North American Union agenda toward an anti-democratic "New World Order"

Asked what the ultimate agenda was behind the American Union and the push on behalf of the Bush administration to homogenize the US with Mexico and Canada, Paul was clear in his response.

"I think the goal is one world government... we have the WTO, the IMF, the World Bank, then we have all the subsidiaries like NAFTA and hemispheric governments, highways coming in."

"I just hope and pray that we can wake up enough people," said Paul, noting that Texans in his own backyard were more aware of Bush selling out the country for an North American Union than anyone in Washington.

Ron Paul further says, "Globalists and one-world promoters never seem to tire of coming up with ways to undermine the sovereignty of the United States. The most recent attempt comes in the form of the misnamed Security and Prosperity Partnership Of North America (SPP). In reality, this new "partnership" will likely make us far less secure and certainly less prosperous."

According to the U.S. government website dedicated to the project, the SPP is neither a treaty nor a formal agreement. Rather, it is a "dialogue" launched by the heads of government of Canada, Mexico, and the United States at a summit in Waco, Texas in March, 2005.

Republican Presidential candidate Paul then remarks, "What is a dialogue? We don't know. What we do know, however, is that Congressional oversight of what might be one of the most significant developments in recent history is non-existent. Congress has had no role at all in a "dialogue" that many see as a plan for a North American union."

Ron Paul elaborates on a prospective anti-democratic NAU "shadow government" which effectively destroys Canada and the U.S. as democracies:

"According to the SPP website, this dialogue will create new supra-national organizations to "coordinate" border security, health policy, economic and trade policy, and energy policy between the governments of Mexico, Canada, and the United States. As such, it is but an extension of NAFTA- and CAFTA-like agreements that have far less to do with the free movement of goods and services than they do with government coordination and management of international trade."

"Critics of NAFTA and CAFTA warned at the time that the agreements were actually a move toward more government control over international trade and an eventual merging of North America into a border-free area. Proponents of these agreements dismissed this as preposterous and conspiratorial. Now we see that the criticisms appear to be justified."

Mr. Paul further enquires "Let's examine just a couple of the many troubling statements on the SPP's US government website...".

"We affirm our commitment to strengthen regulatory cooperation...and to have our central regulatory agencies complete a trilateral regulatory cooperation framework by 2007."

Though the U.S. administration insists that the SPP does not undermine U.S. sovereignty, how else can one take statements like this? How can establishing a "trilateral regulatory cooperation" not undermine our national sovereignty?

Mr. Paul then indicates that the cited website also states SPP's goal to "[i]mprove the health of our indigenous people through targeted bilateral and/or trilateral activities, including in health promotion, health education, disease prevention, and research." Who can read this and not see massive foreign aid transferred from the U.S. taxpayer to foreign governments and well-connected private companies?

Also alarming says Mr. Paul, are SPP pledges to "work towards the identification and adoption of best practices relating to the registration of medicinal products." That sounds like the much-criticized Codex Alimentarius, which seeks to radically limit Americans' health freedom.

Even more troubling are reports that under this new "partnership," a massive highway is being planned to stretch from Canada into Mexico, through the state of Texas. This is likely to cost the U.S. taxpayer untold billions of dollars, will require eminent domain takings on an almost unimaginable scale, and will make the U.S. more vulnerable to those who seek to enter our country to do us harm.

This all adds up to not only more and bigger government, but to the establishment of an unelected mega-government. As the SPP website itself admits, "The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America represents a broad and ambitious agenda." I hope my colleagues in Congress and American citizens will join me in opposing any "broad and ambitious" effort to undermine the security and sovereignty of the United States.

In claiming HMS Cornwall was within Iraqi territorial waters, the British government and the media have covered-up the fact there is no agreed upon Iraqi-Iranian maritime border, as other bizarre coincidences and dubious circumstances surrounding the hostage crisis begin to emerge.

Former British Ambassador Craig Murray and others are highlighting the fact that the maritime border between Iraq and Iran is contested, and the British have essentially manufactured a border to make it appear as if HMS Cornwall was within Iraqi territorial waters. The mainstream media has uniformly failed to address this issue.

"The Iran/Iraq maritime boundary shown on the British government map does not exist. It has been drawn up by the British Government. Only Iraq and Iran can agree their bilateral boundary, and they never have done this in the Gulf, only inside the Shatt because there it is the land border too. This published boundary is a fake with no legal force," claims Murray.

"Accepting the British coordinates for the position of both HMS Cornwall and the incident, both were closer to Iranian land than Iraqi land. Go on, print out the map and measure it. Which underlines the point that the British produced border is not a reliable one."

As illustrated in the Encarta encyclopedia territorial map above, the position of the ship denoted by the red circle is nearer the Iranian border than the Iraq border. The blue circumference touches the edge of the Iranian border.

As the Moon of Alabama blog points out, "That boundary is simply not well defined and Iran and Iraq have fought several wars about the Shatt al-Arab and its waterways. There is no binding or otherwise recognized international agreement about the maritime boundaries."

"If one would use a maritime boundary defined by equidistance from the Iraqi and Iranian coastlines, as is commonly (see Art.7) done in such cases, the result would be something like this purple line."

As becomes obvious from looking at the map, taking the equidistant measurement from the Iraqi and Iranian coastlines, the ship is clearly within Iranian territory.

Iranian news source IRNA claims that this represents Britain's sixth violation and trespass of Iranian territory in the last three years, while also stating that the western media has been complicit in "a wave of propaganda campaign against Iran immediately after Iranian border guards arrested British marines."

Even if you dismiss judging territorial water boundaries by the method detailed above, the fact is that the media parroted carte blanche the British government's version, without even pointing out that there is no recognized and agreed upon Gulf water boundary between Iraq and Iran.

Other highly suspicious circumstances surrounding the hostage crisis have also begun to emerge.

During a BBC Newsnight feature story , it was demonstrated that the Iranian footage of the capture of the British sailors was in large part likely faked and the commentators all but suggested the entire incident was staged or at least constituted "gross negligence" on behalf of the British.

Readers have also pointed out the bizarre coincidence of the fact that immediately before the sailors were captured, they were being accompanied by a BBC film crew onboard HMS Cornwall, who filmed a human interest interview with Faye Turney, who has become the poster child of the whole crisis. The interview was broadcast immediately after the sailors were taken hostage and portrayed Turney in a very humanizing light, with pictures of her loved ones in the background.

With the crisis deepening and tensions being ratcheted up by the bellicose rhetoric of both Blair and the Iranians, this Gulf of Tonkin style incident is starting to look increasingly dubious as the drumbeat for war grows ever louder.

Rosie Opens 9/11 Conspiracy 'View' Debate

Rosie O'Donnell has never been one to shy away from speaking her mind, but her latest controversial topic of conversation on 'The View' brought up a taboo that most daytime talk shows would never go near – the possibility of a conspiracy on 9/11.

On Thursday's show, during a discussion on the war on terror and the prospect of war in Iran, O'Donnell veered into the theory that World Trade Center 7, which fell hours after the Twin Towers, was possibly destroyed purposely by explosives.

"I do believe that it was the first time in history that fire has ever melted steel," O'Donnell said when questioned on whether she thought the government was behind the collapse of WTC 7. "I do believe that it defies physics for the World Trade Center tower 7, which collapsed in on itself -- it is impossible for a building to fall the way it fell without explosives being involved. Miraculously, the first time in history steel was melted by fire," she said.

Her 'View' co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck, who has been known to go head-to-head with a conservative counterpoint to Rosie's left-leaning opinions, listened as O'Donnell sold her case for a conspiracy theory. O'Donnell then asked: "to say that we don't know that it imploded ... is beyond ignorant. Look at the film, get a physics expert from Yale, from Harvard, pick the school. It defies reason. Imagine if somebody could convince you of that?"

Hasselbeck kept her cool, replying "If someone could sit here and prove that to me, I would open my mind to that."

Breaking the tension, but still keeping things politically charged, co-host Joy Behar wrapped up the segment with an anti-Bush zinger of her own, saying "Wait a second, Bush went to Yale, how good could they be?"

The exchange follows a recent blog post by O'Donnell dealing with the same subject.

Journalist Jerome Corsi appeared on the Alex Jones Show today to discuss in depth his astounding new investigation that implicates both Alberto Gonzales and U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton in the cover-up of a pedophilia scandal involving the Texas Youth Commission.

"Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton, both already under siege for other matters, are now being accused of failing to prosecute officers of the Texas Youth Commission after a Texas Ranger investigation documented that guards and administrators were sexually abusing the institution's minor boy inmates," writes Corsi in a report for World Net Daily.

"Among the charges in the Texas Ranger report were that administrators would rouse boys from their sleep for the purpose of conducting all-night sex parties."

A 2005 investigation led by Texas Ranger Brian Burzynski revealed that systematic abuse of minors was commonplace at West Texas State School in Pyote, Texas. Burzynski presented the findings of the investigation to both Gonzales and Sutton but was rebuffed, and even received a letter from Sutton's office that attempted to legitimize the sexual abuse of children, claiming that "under 18 U.S.C. Section 242," it would have to be demonstrated "that the boys subjected to sexual abuse sustained "bodily injury," states the letter from Bill Baumann, assistant U.S. attorney in Sutton's office.

Incredulously, Baumann's letter goes on to make the case that the minors consented to and even enjoyed the acts of pedophilia, therefore no further action was necessary.

In September 2005, the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division also refused to follow up with a prosecution.

According to Corsi, officials implicated in the scandal were hired despite their known criminal backgrounds and were also retained even after it was discovered that they were using state computers to regularly visit pornography websites.

"It basically sounds as if you wouldn't get hired in one of these facilities unless you were a pedophile," Corsi told the Alex Jones Show.

"You've got a culture of pedophilia that is at the core of the Texas Youth Commission, and what that means is you won't get hired or you won't stay as an employee unless you're willing to participate in the boy rape that's going on or keep quiet about it."

Corsi says he has further developments to report tomorrow that confirm the scandal is "Now known to be widespread, all the offices of the Texas Youth Commission throughout the state are involved and employees from the top to the bottom are all involved."

Actress Rosie O'Donnell's public statements on 9/11-- already carefully laid out on the solid ground of WTC 7's clear controlled demolition in her blog -- is now further backed up by an historical account of the Gulf of Tonkin as an "imaginary" event on her blog.

President Johnson used the 1964 staged event to expand dramatically the scale of the Vietnam War by ushering in the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution , as well as to rope in much needed domestic support with the Congress and public.

Not only does the Tonkin Incident provide precedent for the U.S. Government's staging events as a pretext for military action, it gives clues to painful emotive questions that many exposed to 9/11 Truth for the first time by Rosie may be asking-- Has anything like this ever happened before? Citing Tonkin also gives rebuttal to skeptical and defiant critics of O'Donnell's stance on 9/11-- there is a history of provocation, a history of deceptive "attacks" on the U.S. as pretext for war and a history of slow, stagnant answers and cover-up regarding those events-- how 'crazy', then, are questions about 9/11 in light of history?

Here is Rosie's blog entry from March 26 :

The Gulf of Tonkin Incident began with an “imaginary” attack by three North Vietnamese torpedo boats on the Maddox, a U.S. destroyer, in the Gulf of Tonkin on 2 August 1964. Two days later, that vessel and another U.S. destroyer in the area both reported themselves under renewed attack, although North Vietnam subsequently insisted that it hadn't attacked — and no attack is now believed to have occurred on the 4th of August.

Within hours, Johnson ordered retaliatory air strikes on the bases of the North Vietnamese boats and announced, in a television address to the American public the same evening, that U.S. naval forces had been attacked. In a message he sent to Congress the following day, the President affirmed that “the North Vietnamese regime had conducted further deliberate attacks against U.S. naval vessels operating in international waters.”

Johnson requested approval of a resolution “expressing the unity and determination of the United States in supporting freedom and in protecting peace in southeast Asia”. He said that the resolution should express support “for all necessary action to protect our Armed Forces” — but repeated previous assurances that “the United States… seeks no wider war”. As the nation entered the final three months of political campaigning for the 1964 elections (in which Johnson was standing for election), the president contended that the resolution would help “hostile nations… understand” that the United States was unified in its determination “to continue to protect its national interests.”[2]

Tonkin was only one of several false-flag events discussed in Alex Jones' Terrorstorm which also covers Hitler's Reichstag fire , the attack on the U.S.S. Liberty , the 1953 U.S.-backed Iranian coup and Operation Himmler (in which a Polish 'invasion' on Germany was staged to start WWII)-- all government sponsored false-flag provocations. O'Donnell has been careful to put forward only the most solid information in her public 9/11 statements, as she knows the mainstream media would be quick to slander her on any weak points.

In fact, the media has been careful in drawing too much attention to O'Donnell at all over 9/11, perhaps sensing that 9/11 Truth is already too far out in the open-- even before exposing questions and queries to one television's largest female demographics on The View , which features O'Donnell.

The combination of O'Donnell going public on 9/11 and a report that Charlie Sheen will voice a theatrical version of Loose Change has made for an explosion in coverage and critique of the 9/11 Truth Movement in mainstream press, particularly with FOX News hosts Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity .

However, coverage of O'Donnell has stayed clear-- as usual-- of debating any real facts regarding 9/11, but has focused on typical character assassinations. Furthermore, coverage of Sheen's reported association with Loose Change has all but obscured Rosie's recent input into the 9/11 debate-- aside from misreporting that she is involved with the project.

Clearly, the establishment's 9/11 Official Story is in huge trouble if O'Donnell's going public has half the ripple effect that Sheen's going public had just over one year ago.

Trilateral Globalists Call For Gas Tax Hike

BRUSSELS—America should impose a $1-pergallon increase in the gasoline tax as penance for causing pollution, John Deutch, former head of the Central Intelligence Agency, told the Trilateral Commission's secret meeting here.

When the TC called on the United States to increase gas taxes by 10 cents at a meeting in Tokyo in 1991, The Washington Post, which is always represented at TC and Bilderberg meetings, called for such an increase in an editorial the following day.

“The United States must adopt a carbon monoxide control policy,” Deutch said.

If the United States or any country in the Organization for Economic Development “that is a large producer of greenhouse gas emissions is to retain a leadership role in other areas, it cannot just opt out of the global climate change policy process.”

Deutch is most remembered for taking classified secrets home in his laptop, which led to the loss of his security clearance.

Later, CIA techies found that Deutch had been using the same computer, which contained national secrets, to surf the internet for pornography. The attorney general at the time, Janet “Butcher of Waco” Reno, declined to prosecute him.

The TC* got a ringing “chins up” about the pace of Europe's becoming a superstate while greatly expanding its efforts to establish an “Asian-Pacific Union” similar to the European Union and its planned “American Union” covering the entire Western Hemisphere.

The ultimate goal of internationalist groups like the Trilateral-Bilderberg cabal is to divide the world into three great regions for the profit of the international plutocratic mattoids running the show.

Even in its own literature, the Trilateral Commission plays up the part that it was formed in 1973 by private citizens of Japan, Europe and North America to foster “closer cooperation”—today, that means globalization—among these industrialized regions. Since that time, the group meets throughout the year to discuss ways in which the group can advance world government.

An important weapon in their arsenal is fanning public hysteria over “global warming.”

But first, Peter Sutherland, TC's European chairman, Bilderberg leader, former member of the European Commission and chairman of British Petroleum, lifted their spirits with assurances that a European constitution—the final step toward making the entire continent including Britain into a single nation—would be ratified. TC and Bilderberg had fretted about this since a draft had been rejected by French and Dutch voters in 2005. The problem, he said, was letting people vote on the issue instead of having the proposed constitution approved by bureaucrats.

“There is a subdued mood in Europe for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, the precursor of the European Union,” Sutherland said. “But the achievements are indeed remarkable . . . the free movement of goods, services, persons and capital has transformed Europe.

The effort succeeded because the integration process is based on a sharing
of sovereignty and a method of governance that has challenged the traditional competences of the nation-state.”

However, Sutherland remarked, “the decision by [British Prime Minister] Tony Blair to hold a referendum . . . set off a train of events that has plunged Europe into a crisis of confidence about the future that is not warranted. After all, 18 countries, some by referendum, have taken all steps to ratify the treaty and of the rest, a significant majority could do so tomorrow without difficulty.”

Since the 2005 rejection, countries from the former Soviet bloc and Iron Curtain countries have joined the union and would have to ratify.

Sutherland's message was clear: a new, shorter constitution must be proposed and ratified without the voters. His comments were also reflected in his commentary in the March 17 International Herald Tribune, which is published by the Bilderberg-controlled New York Times.

There was no mention that, at the same moment, he was attending the TC meeting. An independent source confirmed that the commentary was the text of his TC speech. A universal battle cry arose for the world to address “global warming” with a single voice. This issue is also a source of big bucks for these sons of smokestack industrialists.

One of those voices belonged to “the General Lord Guthrie,” director of N.M. Rothschild & Sons, member of the House of Lords and former chief of the Defense Staff in London.

“We must address the global climate crisis with a single voice, and impose rules that apply worldwide,” he said. “Otherwise, our children and children's children will endure starvation and unimaginable hardship. We cannot address this crisis as 180 separate nation-states. We must act as a single world state.”

America's TC leaders are growing old and frail, and another generation is being prepared. Founder David Rockefeller is 90 and in poor health. His nephew, Sen. John D. Rockefeller IV (D-W.Va.), a lineal descendant of John the Original, attended the TC for the first time in many years.

Familiar American faces included former House Speaker Tom Foley (D-Wash.), former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, assistant to President Jimmy Carter for national security Zbigniew Brzezinski, former House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt (D-Mo.); former U.S. Trade Representative Carla Hills, former Assistant Secretary of Defense Richard Perle, former Undersecretary of State Thomas Pickering, and former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.

Newcomers included Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), former Rep. Jim Leach (R-Iowa) and Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.). All congressmen and senators were in violation of a federal law prohibiting public officials from attending secret meetings with private citizens to discuss public policy. They also traveled at taxpayers' expense, and they do not fly coach.

Canadian Student Detained at U.S. Airport & Interrogated Like Terrorist Suspect

A recent trip to the U.S. turned into a harrowing experience for a Lakehead University student, who claims he was detained for more than 12 hours and interrogated like a suspected terrorist.

And because his computer laptop was also seized, which had most of his school material and assignments on it, the incident might have cost him his school semester and future career.

“I felt insulted. I felt frightened. I felt very, very weak,” said 22-year-old Mahmoud Zeitoun. “That depression was the highest amount of depression of my life.”

The Lebanese-born man, who always held Canadian citizenship through his parents, was headed to Denver with local dentist Jennifer Lee and an assistant on Thursday. Zeitoun was supposed to act as Lee's patient while she performed an exam to practise in her field in the U.S.

While enroute at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport at 8:30 in the morning, Zeitoun says they were initially questioned normally as to why they were entering the U.S. and about Zeitoun's planned return on Tuesday.

But Zeitoun claims U.S. officials told him he could only enter the U.S. on the condition that he departs the U.S. through major ports between 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. — a restriction which conflicted with his planned return time on Tuesday.

He asked to speak with a supervisor, and after a deeper look into his case, was apparently told that he needed a visa to enter the country. Canadians travelling to the U.S. are not normally required to possess visas, unless they are visiting for work purposes.

Lee and the other companion left on their next flight, and it is not known if the dentist found a replacement patient for her exam.

But instead of letting Zeitoun, who holds a Canadian passport, return to Canada, they apparently detained him for a 12 1/2-hour ordeal that felt to him like “straight torture.”

Zeitoun, a Muslim, was made to sit in an interrogation room all day, facing questions about whether he has ties to the Lebanese group Hezbollah, or knows anyone who has hatred towards the U.S.

“‘What do you think of suicide bombers?'” Zeitoun said, recalling the interrogators' questions. “‘You think it's right, right? If you tell us anything, we'll let you in.'

“I'm like, ‘Please. I am a citizen here in Canada. Then you are coming to talk to me about people I don't know,'” Zeitoun recalled.

He claims the officials at the airport also checked his luggage and seized his $3,000 laptop with no guarantee of its return. It had everything he needed to complete his semester courses in science and engineering at Lakehead University this semester.

“This will bring me to an F,” said Zeitoun, who is also the president the Lakehead University Muslim Student Association, which has about 40 members.

He claims U.S. interrogators also asked him to show his Hotmail e-mail account, and allegedly made threats that they would put him in a “cell,” Zeitoun said.

Zeitoun says two years ago he was held for about five hours at the U.S. border crossing at Sault Ste. Marie, which he claims was due to nothing more than his Lebanese birthplace.

He claims he told the border agents there that he really wanted to turn around rather then enter, changing his mind mid-way because he realized it would take longer to drive through to Thunder Bay. But they detained him anyways, and later apologized for the “inconvenience.” Zeitoun says they marked him as rejected from entering the U.S. — a detail he only learned of during his detention in Minneapolis.

Zeitoun says he was not given food in Minneapolis until much later in the afternoon, and says he was allowed to call his brother Adnan in Windsor early in the evening. The brother contacted LU sociology professor Walid Chahal. Chahal contacted a Canadian national security investigator, who after a short call to a “friend” in the U.S., called back to Chahal to tell him Zeitoun would be released by 9 p.m. on Thursday.

Zeitoun and Chahal suspect the Canadian investigator, who they did not identify but both claim to know, helped speed up Zeitoun's release.

Chahal once taught Zeitoun at Lakehead University and says he is a “good person” who “likes to help.”
He said Zeitoun is a victim of racial profiling.

“(The U.S. border agents) didn't find anything on (Zeitoun) the first time or the second time,” Chahal said.
He blames Zeitoun's alleged ordeal on U.S. border security policies, which he claims leads “innocent civilians” into the kind of treatment Zeitoun says he received.

Chahal claims people are susceptible of being treated as if they are “guilty without being tried” at U.S. border crossings if their name or appearance stereotypically resembles an Arab or Muslim.
“So this is a problem, with racial profiling, anyone can be a target,” he said.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials in Minneapolis were contacted by The Chronicle-Journal on Saturday, and were told by “Officer Jackson” to call back Monday to speak to press representatives. Jackson said he “can't speak on behalf of this case.”

He said detentions of Canadians lasting as long as Zeitoun's are “not normal.”

Are Boeing fitting their aircraft with illegal devices that could enable terrorists to remotely hijack airliners and crash them into high profile targets? In light of what happened on 9/11, Boeing's blanket denial that this practice has taken place is both highly suspicious and a threat to national security.

We called Boeing to ask them if such technology had been installed in commercial airliners and they denied all knowledge, despite the fact that Boeing were hit with a record fine of $15 million after the company broke the law by selling commercial planes equipped with the QRS-11 gyrochip, which is also used in the guidance system of the Maverick missile.

According to the Associated Press, from 2000 to 2003 Boeing shipped 94 airliners oversees, mainly to China, that contained the chip, a device used for "military applications," stated the report.

According to the Seattle Times, "The QRS-11 chip, made by a unit of BEI Technologies in Concord, Calif., is just over 1-½ inches in diameter and weighs about 2 ounces. It sells for between $1,000 and $2,000. Described as "a gyro on a chip," it is used to help control the flight of missiles and aircraft."

"There could be dozens, even hundreds more components like the QRS11 gyros that have slipped under the eyes of State Department enforcers, said Joel Johnson, the vice president international of the Aerospace Industries Association," reports the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), and "Aircraft incorporating the QRS11 chips are already routinely making flights."

Should it concern us that Boeing began installation of a chip that turns a plane into a remotely guided missile immediately before 9/11?

One month before 9/11, German newspaper Der Spiegel reported that U.S. military-industrial complex giant Raytheon landed a 727 jet six times by remote control using GPS technology at a Hollomon AFB in New Mexico.

In April 2001, aviation history was made when a Global Hawk, which is equivalent in wingspan to a Boeing 737, flew by remote control out of Edwards Air Force Base, across the Pacific Ocean, and landed safely at the Royal Australian Air Force base at Edinburgh, in South Australia state.

Other sources from within the airline industry have told us that such devices were common in aircraft years before 9/11, a remarkable supposition that has led many to suspect that the attacks on the Pentagon and the World Trade Center were executed using this remote access system.

Recent newspaper reports discussing these devices and the policy to have them in all airliners within three years assure us that they would prevent another 9/11 style outrage - but because any such system is vulnerable to hacking allied with the fact that pilots have no way of overriding the autopilot, not even with secure access codes, this only increases the chances of another 9/11 style attack.

A comprehensive investigation on behalf of those who have the authority and resources to perform it needs to be mandated immediately into whether devices that completely remove control of a plane from the pilot and that have illegally been installed in many existing aircraft a fundamental danger to national security.
