John Dies at the End

It was weird film. Weird in a good way. Monsters, aliens, soy sauce, drugs - WTF? And sorry about spoiler but the title is a bit misleading.

So, there are these two guys John and David, and they need to save the world - and all film is a story that David is telling to journalist in the Chinese restaurant.

After watching film I've read some reviews on imdb and found out that there is a book of which the film is an adaptation and according to the author of review - not a good one.

Apart from this I agree that film isn't balanced and the last half or third part fees weak.

So in the end we have sci-fi movie about aliens and time and space travel with decent visual effects and some of them are pretty amazing, but the plot is somewhat cluttered.

The Impossible

I thought tsunami isn't that serious before I've seen this movie. If you ever saw thriller or horror films you probably know that feeling when you want to close eyes, stop film or turn your head away from the screen. Well this film isn't scary but it has some really hard to watch moments.

Also now I'm certain that tsunami is horrible natural disaster and I'm kind a happy that I live in Ukraine where this cataclysm don't occur.

This film about 2004 tsunami that hit south eastern Asia coasts, destroyed everything it could reach and took almost quarter of a million lives. This terrible disaster is described with one family of five people that came to Thailand on vocation.

The family consists of mother - Maria (Naomi Watts), father - Henry (Ewan McGregor) and their three children: Lucas, Tomas and Simon.

It was the day after The Christmas Eve, they opened their presents and went to the pool and suddenly it happened. Enormous amount of water hit the beach smashing houses, trees, people and everything else on it's way and bringing all these things with water into the jungle and then after a while the water came back to the ocean, cousing almost the same destruction but from the other side.

During this events camera shoots over and under the water showing you various things that hit people and it;s really hard to watch.

After the water came back to ocean the family is separated and they didn't know if the members of the other part survived the tsunami.

Probably I would stop here because I don't want spoil anything else and I think that this film is worth watching.

John dies in the end

John filled his glass again and leaned back on his flexible chair. It was quite long since the last time he had an alcoholic drink and the whiskey tasted surprisingly well. He had to admit, he loved this beverage from the first time he had drunk it. And this one was also special because was imported right from Scotland and was thirty years old.

He made one sip, looked through the glass at the sun and saw it setting over the horizon. He almost forgot those days when he could afford such a luxury of doing nothing and just experiencing the moment.

He turned head and looked for a while at the forest. It was real. Yes, you heard me right first time, he looked at forest and it wasn't artificial, it was green, good smelling real forest and each tree in it , odd and even was real. It's hard to imagine this today but then it wasn't that a big deal to see forest made from wood. Not plastic and metal, like today.

Some of us don't know at all or, maybe, don't remember what is wood and I am totally convinced that things will continue disappear and later generations will have forgotten a lot of things that we still know or maybe will invent and start using in the near future. Life is life. But let's go back to John.

He wasn't sitting there looking at the sunset and watching the shadows from the trees in the forest slowly lengthen towards the lake, without reason. He was waiting and the time of his waiting had passing with the speed of stars, lightening on the sky.

John was sitting on the chair on the porch of the cabin in the woods near lake in the state Man in USA and suddenly he realized that his waiting was over. He saw the light from private footpath in the woods and in that moment calm wind touched his face. He knew they were coming and they hadn't disappointed him.

After a while he saw two dark figures approaching the cabin and he stood up. They wore shabby clothes and one of them had a lantern. Besides the two wore black robes there was a considerable difference between them. The one with the lantern was tall and skinny and the second one was short and plump.

After reaching the porch stairs they stayed about a minute just watching at John. Well it was what John had thought because he didn't see their faces under the hood.

“Hello, John”, said John to the tall figure. “I thought you would come alone, without John”.

“I'm glad to see you too”, laughed plump one. “They said you are funny and don't ask stupid questions, but I'm happy to admit that you are just funny”.

He burst out laughing and it some time for him to came back to normal. Both Johnes stayed silent and just looked at each other and it seemed that they hadn't noticed laughing plump ball rolling on the ground before porch.

“We heard you are looking for a permanent job, John,”, said tall John, “our organization would be honored to have such a professional, like you among us. Your skills are sharp and your presence will increase our chances in the Fight. Besides that you know that the thing you are looking for belongs to our organization and grand master will be pleased to give it and a lot of more in case of victory. It's a win win situation John, you have nothing to loose, admit it and join us”

“I know the price and I've already received an invitation”, answered John. He gave long cool heavy look to both tall and plump John. “ Grand master has the vase and he knows that the vase is mine”

“The vase is sacred for our order...”, started plump John.

“Shut the fuck up!”, shouted John. “The vase is mine!The vase was mine and will be mine! In the lowest circle of hell and in the highest of heavens the vase will be mine!” John was furious, he wasn't that furious since the moment he realized he lost his precious vase.

“You!” John pointed finger at the tall John, “You will bring the answer to your Grand master”.

Tall John bowed and asked calmly:

“What would be the answer?”

“The answer would be him”, John pointed plump John with his glass of whiskey and slowly, staring short man right in the darkness under the hood started turning the glass. Whiskey started pouring on the porch, slowly, drop by drop. With the last drop of whiskey felt from the glass plump John hit the ground. He was dead.

Lincoln

Lincoln

The film was terrific and for me it was even somewhat educational because I've known that Lincoln freed slaves but I knew a little about details. So? it was interesting to watch and see the manners of people in that period of history.

Actors. These people have done great job. And here I even don't want to mention Day Lewis, personally I can't recall him playing bad. Here I can mention Tommy Lee Jones who probably also was a little bit above all great performance. I recalled Jones's character because his look surprised me a little in the end of film.

The film itself tell us about period of adoption of the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution intended to free slaves. This process was held during Civil War between southern and northern states. The main theme in film is battle between democratic pro southern and republican pro northern congressmen. I think it wouldn't be a spoiler if I say that the amendment was successfully adopted.

The film depicts Lincoln struggling to path amendment through congress using more or less legal ways. Politics is dirty game and even if you know you would do no harm with law or something you still need to convince the majority of congress. And part of congressman is probably lobbying the opposite of your law. Faced such struggle you should carefully choose means to achieve you noble goal.

TRON: Legacy

TRON: Legacy

I remember watching previous film - TRON, also I remember mixed feelings about it. The graphics looked unusual and somewhat cool but for some reason I almost fell asleep during watching it. And some time ago I watched next film - TRON: Legacy and here are my thoughts about this movie.

First of all it looks futuristic, very stylish and those who were responsible for the design have done their job well. You can probably find yourself putting some screenshots from movie to your desktop or other device even if you didn't like the movie. This is how this film looks.

Another thing that was quite often mentioned is the authors of the soundtrack - Daft Punk. I must say I'm not a big fun of their music, I've heard and liked "Around the world" and that's probably it, so soundtrack for me was rather good but now I can't recall any themes from the movie.

Now let's talk about actors. In the movie you can see not one but two Jeff Bridges, sorry for spoiler, ha ha. Well I can't tell much about actors, they've done the job but I don't remember anything over the top. Maybe except the guy with British accent in the bar.

So in the end I must say that I enjoyed watching this movie mostly because it's looks and I'd recommend to watch it.

Withnail and I

Withnail and I

Nowhere and nothing. Despair. After watching the film i felt that the main characters of this movie are trying to find themselves and constantly failing.

There are two main characters in this film and they are unsuccessful actors. They are in the middle of nowhere, not literally, but still - they are lost.

At some point they decided to live some time in the country and went to one of them uncle's country house. After spending some time there they went back.

Hey, you could say, the film with that amount of "action" about two alcoholics - you must be kidding us! Why should we watch this?!

Hey, calm down - I would answer to these appeals. It's not that bad. It has soul, it's shoot nicely and actors have done their job great. One of them even do not smoke and is completely sober, but you still believe him. This is how great is actors.

Also there is a game - during watching the film you should drink alcohol beverages after the film characters and you should survive till the end of the movie. I hadn't tried this game (mostly because I do not drink) but it could be funny to watch someone do it.

After watching the film I was sitting with some warm filling inside, but also I felt, maybe, sorrow, because it's always hard to stop something and move on. Stop watching friends and find new, change job. You know, it's hard but you still do it, because of greater opportunities or something. So the film probably without intention made me think about my problems and this is what I like the most in the art.

Aguirre, the Wrath of God

Werner Herzog's films are always special and it's interesting to watch them. He loves cinema, loves what he do and he has guts and talent to show you story and surprise you.

I watched not many of his films and I'm glad that this number increased. I'm tending to watch all his films and the next one would be Fitzcarraldo, I think.

This film is about madness, point of no return, cowardliness, treachery and many other things. It's about conquistador expedition to the Latin America that gone wild.

After watching film I looked it in wikipedia and was amazed that it was shoot just for $370 000. I must say - WOW. It still was shoot in 1972 and inflation had done to dollar some bad things , but still - WOW. And one third was Kinski's salary. And I must admit - he looks good in this movie.

Trance

Trance

After watching interview of Danny Boyle on Mark Kermode youtube reviews channel I've become interested in his recent film "Trance". The film was described as somewhat of free play of director and the movie was compared to Inception - the film I really like. So, I had no choice and went to see it in the cinema.

I won't post spoilers and just say about plot that the film is about auction robbery gone wrong way and the unusual way of solving the problem. I know, it sounds mysterious and weird, but I think it's better than nothing.

I think I watched most of Boyle films and I've got to say that I like what I've seen. Every film was interesting to watch and described some human problem, and Trance wasn't an exception.

The most interesting part of the film is that you constantly thinking - are the hero in trance right now. So the link to Inception is quite obvious, but I must to admit that I like Inception more that this film. C'est la vie.

Also I need to warn you about some content of this film - there are several weird looking dead bodies (one of them not so dead) and some scenes of sexual nature.

In the and I must say that I really enjoyed watching Trance and I'm really recommend this new film of Danny Boyle to every his fan and others who like good movies.

Rise of the Guardians

You probably know this feeling when you see poster of a film or even a title and think - it sounds or looks silly, they must be kidding, I won't see it. And then after some time you read a positive reviews one after another, some of your friends told you that the movie was awesome and the imdb shows you something above 7 in rating for this movie.

At this kind of moment you think - wtf? They must be trolling, how can it be true? And during these thoughts you are opening site for rent/download this film.

This exactly the situation with this film - "Rise of the Guardians". When I've read description I remember I thought its another silly movie for kids. But when I finally started watching it quite quickly become obvious that this animation film is really worth watching it. Animation is great and the nature of the characters are fully disclosed and voiced by good actors.

I know it would sound weird and maybe can be hard to believe in, but this movie has soul, you certainly feel that people, who've done it really worked hard and it was very enjoyable to watch it.

Again this would can sound weird, but after this movie you feel this warm feeling inside you and life seems better.

So, as the moral of the story I would try to be less judgmental based only on small amount of information or on first impression. This can stop me from watching really great movies.

The Expendables 2

I really like this movie and this is why. It's B movie and it does not feel shame about it - just do the job and, man, it does it great.

Stallone, Willis, Schwarzenegger, Norris, Lundgren, Van Damme - these guys starred in movies of my childhood and now they are in the same film - isn't it cool? Could you imagine this film was shoot in 90s?

Besides cool old guys there are pretty good effects and combat scenes. Everyone shoots from both hands, enemies die in thousandths, every couple of minutes something explodes.

But now when they've shoot second film I feel a bit sad, because in the third part they have a little choice for new old heroes to introduce in new movie. In some point this franchise probably have reached it's top point. I hope I'm wrong and Stallone with the team will shoot even better third movie, I'll certainly watch it.

A Clockwork Orange

Recently I've finished listening to this great audio-book by Anthony Burgess. I've challenged myself to listen this book in English and happy to say that I've successfully managed to do it.

I think it was some kind of cheating for me, because my first language is Russian and the author in this book used quite a lot Russian words as part of new English language called "Nadsat". Droogs, moloko and vek I think were used more frequently than others.

Reading the book I couldn't stop comparing it with Stanley Kubrick movie. Pictures from the movie constantly continued appearing behind my eyes and I must admit movie was shoot pretty close to the book, maybe except the final.

Also in the movie main characters are older. In the book they are 15 years old in the begging and when you see Malcolm MacDowell, well you just cannot say that he is 15 years old, but it's not a big problem.

About a year ago I wrote a post demanding some snow in winter. Those guys who run the weather department apparently are a bit slow so we got theese nice spring pictures here. there you can see shining sun and some young green grass starting to grow under old tree leafes.

But stop, I've got you - there is only snow, snow everywhere. This wild turn can drive people crazy. I saw video where a couple of people started snowbording and skiing right on the street in Kiyv. It looked fun and in the end there was a caption wich said 52nd Febuary.

Another video I saw recently was about ordinary family in Kiyv. After recent heavy snowfall they decided to open the dor of their balkony. On the 7th floor. It was full of snaww to the ceiling and the snow was pretty thick. Weird staff.

Now back to weather department. I kind a fill sorry for my harsh words last year, so I desided I must appologize for this, I greatly underestimated the power of weather and in future I promise I will be careful with words I'm sayng.

Guys, we learned our lesson, and I think we paid enough for our insolence.

Please give us our spring back.

Oz the Great and Powerful

I had nothing to on the Thursday evening so I decided to watch new film "Oz the Great and Powerful" and went to the cinema for 23:30 screening.

I knew very little about the film and was somewhat surprised when in 3D movie you see 3x4 black and white screen for 15 minutes in the beginning. I even turned around to somehow check if all is alright and everyone see what I see. Then I saw the director of that title and smiled for myself. Sam Raimy done great job, and you can expect from him something like that - create effect from a thing that everybody takes for granted. This translation from black and white 3x4 screen to colored default resolution screen worked perfectly and helped a lot in separation of real and Oz worlds.

After seeing movie I've watched interview with Sam on Kermode & Mayo (kind a cool channel - I look/listen to it a lot) and Sam done a good impression on me in it.

They talked about problems with rights and that what they done to overcome them also there was small discussion of the new Evil Dead film which will come to the screen shortly.

But back to movie. It was pretty entertaining for me. Sam done good job with 3D - things thrown in to screen, and other things. Oz world looked bright and wonderful but for me it also looked a bit cheep.

James Franko also haven't disappointed me, as somewhat "neutral-good" "wizard". Witches also looked great, especially Mila Kunis, before and after she became the evil green witch looked cool, ha ha spoiler. Additionally I noticed Zack Braff in role of sidekick of the wizard.

The movie was shoot in adventure genre, and there were several funny moments, and also there were moments that could frighten you a bit, there were some dramatic moments and altogether it was great movie and I would recommend it.

Argo

I simply want to say - Ben made a great movie. Watching it I felt nervoues, which for me is quite a sign - because nowdays I do not fall into movie. If I'm interested in what is going on the screen - here oyu go it is already 7 out of 10 for me.

Then there is a story. Watching movie about fake movie is fun. I probably had to put picture with Boromir (You cannot simply sit on plain and fly out of Iran). The story is interesting enough and it keeps you in tension.

I knew this already but still the fact that Iran was a free country and then become the citadel of islamic fundamentalists is pretty sad.

Circle of Jack

Jack was sitting at the table. He was at the house of his dad and the table was in the kitchen. After some time he lighted the cigarette and stretched his back a little bit. His blue suit was a bit small and he felt not really comfortable in it.

He already had waited for some time and also he knew that the time for the meeting had not come yet. He was thinking. He had time for this, but he knew that his clock would come to it's end in near future, so thinking wasn't the worst activity for the moment.

He thought about those weird circles, about world of determinism about his own prison where he had no choice and had to do all those stupid things by someones else will, and that there would be no end to this if this meeting would fail.

Oh, no he would not so stupid, like last time. This time he would talk to the stranger and would try to break the circle, avoid those stupid killings, this time he would fight for his life for his freedom.

Jack turned off the main road and drove down a narrow lane. Almost there, he thought. He had driving all night and was trying not to fall asleep at the wheel. 20 minutes later, he parked in front of an old wooden house by a river.

Nobody had lived in this house since his father died and Jack thought he would be safe here. For a while, anyway. He got out of the car and looked around. The sun was already rising behind the old house and the birds were already singing in the trees by the river bank.

He opened the boot of the car and took out a small backpack and a brown leather briefcase. Seeing the briefcase again made Jack think about what he had done in Chicago the previous evening and he wondered how long to wait before it was safe for them to leave the country. Jack walked up the wooden steps to the front door and lifted up one of the plant pots on the porch. Underneath the pot was the front door key that he had pt there last time he was there. He unlocked the door and went inside.

The room was just how he had left it three month earlier, before he had gone to work as a security guard at the Chicago Bank. He smiled to himself. The plan had worked perfectly. He walked into the kitchen to make some coffee. A man in a dark blue suit was sitting at the kitchen table. He was smoking a cigarette and had been obviously sitting there for some time.

"Hello, Jack," said the man.

"What's in the briefcase?"

"Take a look for yourself," said Jack.

He put the briefcase on the table and pushed it towards him. The man opened the briefcase and looked inside.

Bright yellow light erupted from the inside of the briefcase and filled the room. It casted weird shadows on the mans face, he was amazed and his lips bent into smile. A second after he laughed out loudly and weirdly.

"Jack, you obviously outdone yourself," said the man closing the briefcase. Shadows and smile disappeared from his face and he looked serious now. "You've completed your part of the contract, now I should do the same," the man slowly put his right hand into a jacket pocket and only now Jack saw small bright red dot nervously moving on the man's chest.

The next moment, before Jack could do or say anything there was a sound of broken window, the man at the table was thrown to the was, he had fallen on to the floor and Jack saw blood on the mans back.

When Jack crouched on his knees to the man he was already dead. Jack searched the jacket and found the ring, silver ring with the biggest ruby he saw in his life. He put the ring into the pocket, reached the briefcase, closed it and crawled to the back door.

Different feelings

Furious

Every time, every f*#%ing time I see a car parked on the pavement I become really insane. My guts start burning and one idea locks my mind - kill, kill, kill. Before my eyes I see pictures of beaten people, smashed with baseball bats and some other things done to them. But don't worry too much, if you are a law-abiding citizen you have nothing to worry about.

Exhausted

At the end of the week, After work I feel really exhausted. When you work quite hard every day, you would feel exhausted even in the evening. And this probably wouldn't change even if you work on your dream job. But when you really like your job and work you are doing is great, I think happiness will prevail the exhaustion.

Really fed up

Last time I felt this feeling when I had to fill very long registration form. In our age of social media and networks filling registration forms on every John Dow Super Puper site feels painful and in most cases I prefer to register with some social network. But in this case you would be faced with another problem - how to remember on which site with which social network you had registered? If site doesn't have proper account linking it's somewhat equally painful situation.

Amazed

The last time I felt amazed was when I learned that generally speaking names John and Jack are equal. I couldn't believe this and went to check this fact to wikipedia and after I read a few first paragraphs I become really amazed.

Les Misérables

Recently I've finished reading this great book by Victor Hugo. Some people may call this novel the best work of the author, but I've read only two Hugo books - this one and "The Man Who Laughs" and I loved both of them. "Les Misérables" is more complex and mature work than the book about Gwynplaine but both of them obviously shows the talent of the author.

One of the features I've noticed reading these books is the number of times Victor starts describing some related historical or others developments, it really helps to dive into the story and also it is interesting to discover how people lived in those times.

"Les Misérables" is a huge book - it is divided into several parts each of which is divided into books and the books are divided into chapters. I think it took me about a month of listening the audiobook. Oh, yes, I've listened this book. I simply have no time to read paper books - computer at work, computer at home and only during trips to work I can listen some books. Usually it is a fiction book, because I know a small number of technical books that you actually can listen to.

And back to the story. The author in this book tell us about French people in the first half of the nineteenth century. The main character is Jean Valjean. I think Jean was/is some sort of common name for poor people in France. So Jean is a convict whose sentence had completed. It's kind a long explanation and i probably try to find shorter one, because in Russian you can simply say "бывший каторжник" and there is a word emaicipist for Australian convicts who are no longer serving their terms, and again back to story.

Jean is fourtish years old and nineteen of them he spent in prison. Not really in prison but on galleys. And you probably think what this person has had done to get such a long sentence, well - he had stolen bread, a loaf of bread and several unsuccessful jailbreaks.

Most of the people don't like convicts. Jean after his release noticed this and started feel the same to other people. and then he met this bishop. First thing he did, this bishop, when he arrived to town, he traded his luxurious apartments for little house where hospital resided, so poor ill people could have more place. Yeah, this bishop was strange, but in a good way.

The meeting with bishop, and his kindness and forgiveness made Jean think a lot about his attitude and helped him change his life. So I've described about 5 percent of the book which you absolutely should read - it's great. I must say that I've started reading the book after the latest film with the same name came out. Because I like to be prepared before watching film. And during reading the book I realized that there are several films and a bunch of musicals, so the journey begins - I should decide for myself - who is the best Jean Valjean and Javert.

Triangle

Last week I saw a film “Triangle”. It was soot in 2009 and is relatively new. I've chosen to see it because of several positive comments on one board and I wasn't disappointed and would recommend it to friend.

Now I must warn you about spoilers: there might be SPOILERS.

This film is made around time paradox. In the beginning... But time paradoxes don't have them, so more accurate would be start from the beginning of the film.

So, in the beginning of the film we see young mam Jess and her son in their house, something happen with them and Jess is hugging the boy and calming him. After some montage we see Jess packing large bag and after another montage we see Jess alone coming to the yacht of her friend and she seems to be in some kind of shock.

So there are 6 people on the yacht and they are going for a trip. After a while they were hit by a sudden storm and one of them – Heather was lost.

After some time they encountered cruise ship and came aboard, but strangely enough they failed to find passengers or crew. Ship doesn't look abandoned but there are no people. But after some time they encountered a person which wears bag on his head and starts shoot them with a rifle.

After some shooting only Jess was still alive and she managed to disarm the stranger and pointing at him with an ax she realized that the strange looks exactly like she is. Then “bad she” fall out from the ship to the ocean and Jess spotted turned upside down yacht coming closer to the cruise liner.

Pretty weird, ha? No the weirdness only begins. I definitely recommend you to see this film.

Digital Poetry

Some time ago I saw a picture on the Internet with digital representation of parts of poems of some famous Russian poets. I think I used too many “of” in previous sentence, so I need to say sorry to you, or maybe do some other things to make you feel better after that terrible disaster and here you go – I'm sorry.

By digital representation I mean that all words in those poems are numbers. Here is the example of poem in Mayakovsky style:

Wreck it Ralph

I've watched “Wreck it Ralph” recently and I've got to say that I totally love this film. You can feel connection to characters and the story has some twists – this already place this movie beyond average, but let's look at it closer.

It's story takes place in the world of game arcades and the main character – Ralph is the bad guy in one of the games. I think he has some kind of middle age crisis, because the game celebrated it's 30^th anniversary and poor Ralph still live on the dumpster and receives absolutely no appreciation of his work – wrecking the building.

At some point, after a couple shots in the bar he decided to change his life by getting the hero gold medal. It's hard for bad guy to get one. Well actually impossible, but today sponsor of the but cliche is Nike – “impossible is nothing”.

Pursuing the dream it is important to to remember the saying “fear the moment when your dreams came true”, because you can't think about all the consequences and winning your dream will probably fail something else, maybe even important for you.

During his quest for gold medal and appreciation Ralph met quite little glitch girl – Vanellopee von Shweetz in the world of another game. This girl wanted to take part in the race competition and she took Ralph's gold medal as her enter pass. Ralph was against these actions but Vanellopee was quicker, and to be honest, our bad guy hasn't got the medal in the right way, he stole it from another game.

But for some reason everybody in the race game world are against the glitch girl taking part in the competition and Ralph decides to help her win, because in that case the Vanellopee promised to give the gold medal him back.

At this point I probably stop talking about the story specifically, but lets talk about it in general. When I tried to remember animated movies about good bad guys two films came to mind – Megamind and Despicable Me. I've watched and quite enjoyed all of them. In all that stream of superhero movies even shifting focus from hero to the villian make movie more original and opens some space for new jokes and old jokes from new angle.

Also I'd like to say a few words about voise actors. John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman as Ralph and Venellope done a grate job. Other actors also fitt well, as I sad before - you definettly can connect to the caracters and that is possible mostely thanks to actors.

Animation looks great and alltogether movie looks wonderfull. I totally enjoyed watching it and maybe some day i will rewatch it.

Problems with children education

I was presented with the task to compare two types of schools recently.

The first school is situated in Japan and have relatively high restrictions and safety measures applied. The main goal of this type of schools is children safety. The other one is in United Kingdom and the first thing that came to mind when you read about it is the name of the song of the English band The Sex Pistols “Anarchy in UK”.

Children there play outside even in the winter or when it's raining, learn by doing things, grow plants and play with fire. Another image that came to mind is the last word of Mel Gibson character William Wallace in the film “Braveheart” - “FREEEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!”. And the question is – what type of playground is the best for children?

I personally favor second one, because of importance of freedom and learning on your own experience and the ability of taking risks. But I need to say about my own kinder garden experience. Our garden was somewhere in the middle: we were mostly inside, but sometime, when the weather was fine we were outside with the guidance of one or two teachers. And one day we were playing outside and a bunch of us went to the back side of the pavilion (there were many pavilions in our kinder gardens).

In the back side of the pavilion there was some kind of a room and in the middle of that room there was a wooden box about a meter in height. So without thinking long we started climbing on that box. I can assure you it was quite fun t do. And when two of us climbed on the box the other boy suddenly pushed me and I fell down and hit my head quite seriously. Garden staff called my mother, she left job and took me to the hospital. I do not remember how much stitches doctor put on this wound by for some time I wore bandage on my head.

Some of you may ask me, why after this accident do you still support the second one school? We need control our children to prevent any harm that can be done to them. At this point another citation come to my mind. It's from one of appearances of stand up comedian John Carlin and it is about worshiping children. One of the points he made was that we can't protect our children forever and some day they will be facing the dangers of the world and if they were grown in the green house they probably would have bigger chances to fail.

Another thing about overprotective playgrounds is that this kind of measures mostly characterize parents. They definitely have issues with protecting their children too much and at this point we do not talk about love to their children, we are talking about neurotic need for control over their children. When the love is too strong it can turn into weird abomination which can cripple the life of the child.

Environment protection in the wasteland

Good day, New California Republic citizens, this is Mad Dog and you listen to the best radio station in the whole Mojave Wasteland territory, Vault Radio 1.

Some of you keep asking me about my opinion on protection of our environment, well, folks, we definitely should protect these sandy hills we living on these days, it's as simple as this. If we stop, I'm pretty sure, our lovely yellow piles of sand will be gone and all we will have been left with will be rocks. And may God and all of you people forgive my arrogance, but I hate rocks to the death.

We can not do much about rocks at the moment. They are tough guys, rocks. But I keep dreaming about the world where human kind will be free and strong and win the battle with rocks.

As you can see, we have no choice and if we want to survive in this post-apocalyptic world we must protect our environment. Who are the most dangerous enemies of our environment you may ask. And I have the answer – it's Caesar's Legion. Yes, I'm talking about those gang of barbarians from the east that came to our region to conquer our resources and enslave us. Some of our scribes think that Legion successfully obtained nuclear weapon from some special vault deep in the continent and will use it in the near future.

As you know NCR too have nuclear weapon, so we can make preventive nuclear strike on Caesar's Legion Head Quarters. Those bastards probably thought about this possibility and maybe this is the main reason we are still living in post-apocalyptic world. Also not much we can do about this problem at the moment.

This conflict may lead us in post-post-apocalyptic world and if you ask me I will tell you that this variant of our future is right on the second place in the list of things I hate most, right after rocks. God I hate that gray pieces of crap.

Another thing people keep talking about these days is the extinction of brahmins. Those two headed mutant cows which supply us with meet and serve as transport to our caravans keep dieing much faster than they can reproduce. It's sad for sure not to have ability to eat juicy brahmin stake in the morning. I will have put this at the third position in the list of thins I hate most.

Hey I think we can fix this problem. How about becoming vegans for some time? This definitely won't prevent brahmine population of growing bigger. And there is small chance it actually will help. So, what about saving some juicy brahmine stake to our children and grandchildren? Well who am I kidding? Most of you will answer – to hell with children and grandchild – I want my stake now! I know you like myself.

As always I will tell you about weather in every circle. And by our tradition we begin with first circle – Limbo. We usually do not see sun in limbo and tomorrow won't be exception. The day and night will be foggy and the thickness of the fog will rise towards the end of the day. The temperature will be mild.

In the second circle – Lust as you can guess the weather would be really windy. The souls possessed by this sin will be blown back and forth by the terrible winds of a violent storm, without rest.

Habitats of third circle – Gluttony will certainly need umbrellas, good shoes and clothes because there will be icy rain and vile slush produced by ceaseless foul.

The fourth circle - Greed will be having another quite day in steeps. The temperature will be just fine for stone transporting.

The circle of Anger still consists mostly of the swamp-like water of the river Styx. The weather will be windy with some showers.

The circle of Heresy will have cloudy weather and it might be rain in the evening. But you should not worry – souls trapped in flaming tombs won't miss their suffering.

Violence circle due to the river of boiling blood and fire will have hot weather. Some part of this circle reside in a desert of flaming sand with fiery flakes raining from the sky, a fate similar to Sodom and Gomorrah.

The eighth circle – Fraud will be having hot weather because of the lake of boiling pitch. Also there is information about epidemic situation in this circle and I won't suggest you to travel there because of diseases.

In the last, ninth circle - Treachery the traitors will be frozen in a lake of ice and icy wind will be softly touching the skin on their faces. The weather will be good for ice-skating.
