How I'm Getting Ready For 2013

I love the fresh start of a new year. There are still a couple days left of 2012 and I am blissfully preparing to end this chapter and begin a new one on a high note. Maybe you will find some inspiration in my list...

♥ Detoxifying my body with a cleanse (2012 toxins BEGONE!)
♥ De-clutter: Clean out my handbags, get rid of make-up that has seen better days, organize all of my paperwork
♥ Stock up on all of my vitamins/supplements to ensure a clean and healthy start
♥ Make a list of all the places I'd like to visit, things I want to accomplish, items I'd love to own. Create a vision in my mind of who I want to be.
♥ Last minute beauty: Eyebrows shaped, fresh cut/color, a manicure

And more: giving my e-mail account a deep clean (delete, delete, delete!), clean sheets, creating new meal plans for myself.

Out with the old, in with the new; I wish you a happy 2013.

Mini Delights

- Taking the sun by day...
- ...dolled up and cocktails by night
- Raspberry pomegranate smoothies for the beach- the best.
- Hot pink roses (I'm not a red roses type girl*) from Joe.
Tuesday night was 2 years since our first date. Our "official" anniversary is in October (*but I am the girl who celebrates everything), but reminiscing about our first date brings back so many memories. I remember thinking, this is the best first date I've ever had. same with the 2nd, 3rd, etc and here we are now ;) he felt the same.

Since Summer will be coming to an end soon, I want to make the most of what's left.
This includes fruit-flavored sorbets, the farmer's market, more swimming.

So I discovered this royal blue Yara Yosif kaftan a couple months ago and I'm pretty much obsessed with it. Can you blame me?

As far as jewelry, I'm loving a tiny gold ring with my initial... and this pretty turquoise & gold bangle by Bfrend.
and of course, I'd be so happy with a Cocoa and Hearts painting on my wall!

Last Friday Night

Last Friday, Joe and I took a nighttime walk through the West Village and had amazing desert and cocktails (loved the rose champagne cocktail), followed by a birthday celebration for a friend at Reunion Surf Bar with the worst lighting. I finally wore this chiffon leopard high-low hem maxi that I bought during Winter. I'm so in love with it- if I could live in it, I would.

Finding Mr. Bright

An eye brightener is a crucial step in my beauty routine. Without it my face just seems so incomplete.
First, I apply concealer under my eye down to my cheekbone, sort of forming a triangle, and then top it off with a brightener.
I love the look of a really light and bright under eye paired with a bronzer to contour the rest of my face!

My new favorite beauty item, Dickinson's pore perfecting toner with witch hazel. I've only been using it for about a week, but my skin is so much more smooth and happy.
-All ready to go and waiting for Joe to arrive! ;)
-A rainbow (7 layer) cookie Italian ice. It is every bit of amazing as it sounds.
-A walk through the rose garden at Snug Harbor.

A few items on my must-order-right-away list.
The denim bralet reminds me of one I loved last year, but sold out before I could order it. This year, I will make sure it's mine :) The anchor note set, One line a day notebook (I am such a reminiscing type girl, this is so up my alley), and anything with an elephant makes me oh so happy!

This weekend I: wore a top knot bun, visited the Brooklyn Flea with Joe, ate pizza at Grimaldi's, renewed my love for peach blush, drank Jamba Juice (strawberry surf rider for him, pomegranate pick-me-up for me), walked around Little Italy in the midst of a sun shower, tried to catch most of the Miss USA pageant (always reminds me of my nannny...we used to watch pageants together when I was young).

Here's to a start of another week.

Stripes and a Summer smoothie

The days are becoming increasingly warm and muggy in NYC. My favorite thing to throw on in humid times like these is a striped cotton tank top. It also happens to be one of Joe's favorite things that I wear, which proves the point sometimes the simplest things impress boyfriends the most. :)

Homemade smoothie with goji berries (soaked in water until soft and puffy), blueberries, plain Greek yogurt, soy milk and strawberries. I call this a "Summer smoothie" for the goji berries and their anti-cellulite properties!

This weekend I was so happy to spend an afternoon with Joe at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. The weather was cloudy and muggy, but peonies are in full bloom and made the humidity on my hair worth it.

Old and New

This week I've been happily using a few old beauty favorites of mine:
MAC's Barbie collection "Don't be shy" blush, NARS Turkish Delight, and Laura Mercier concealer.
I forgot how much I loved them! Sometimes it's nice to clean through your make-up and rediscover past loves.

Missing summer

I miss the summer. The past few days in New York have been unseasonably high in temperature.
It makes me miss swimming with Joe in Brighton Beach, easy sundresses, the smell of sun tanning lotion.
Bright color on tan skin. I am missing summer, always.

Spring is my favorite time of the year. Everything starts to feel like it's becoming alive again.
Right now I'm in the middle of a deep clean, letting go of stuff and making room for new life.

I am in love with Ardell 120 lashes and have been wearing them every time I apply make-up.
They are long, wispy, and amazing.
I have a full lash naturally, but my face feels too naked now without these!
