Scientists declared the first cloned camel, Called or Injaz in Arabic, who was born in the desert emirate of Dubai on April 8 after an uncomplicated gestation of 378 days.
They added that; the cloned camel is a six-day-old, one-humped female and was created by cells harvested from the ovary of an adult female camel.

Chennai : A palanquin arrived amid much fanfare at Chennai Silks, a textile house in Tamil Nadu, to give a princely welcome for an outfit that's fit for a queen – a sari studded with gold, diamonds, emeralds and other precious stones.The textile house has woven what it claims is the world's costliest sari, one that costs Rs 40 lakh and weighs around eight kilogram.“The most special thing about the sari is the Ravi Varma painting which has been woven into it. All the intricate details in the painting have been replicated like the curly hair of the ladies and the jewels they are wearing,” Assistant General Manager of Chennai Silks K V Sriram said.While it has already entered the Limca Book of Records, the company says it will try to enter the Guiness Book as well.It took 30 weavers around seven months to make the sari and its launch was also star-studded with actors Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Shobhana and Jeeva attending the event. So, was the attempt just for a record?“This sari can be worn. Normally also it can be used, so it’s not just for a record,” Sriram said.The director claims they have already received enquiries regarding the sari and hopes that it will be sold soon.

Take that tickle in your throat; it's not worth gagging over. Here's a better way to scratch your itch: "When the nerves in the ear are stimulated, it creates a reflex in the throat that can cause a muscle spasm," says Scott Schaffer, M.D., president of an ear, nose, and throat specialty center in Gibbsboro, New Jersey. "This spasm relieves the tickle."

2. Experience supersonic hearing!

If you're stuck chatting up a mumbler at a cocktail party, lean in with your right ear. It's better than your left at following the rapid rhythms of speech, according to researchers at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. If, on the other hand, you're trying to identify that song playing softly in the elevator, turn your left ear toward the sound. The left ear is better at picking up music tones.

3. Overcome your most primal urge!

5. Clear your stuffed nose!

Forget Sudafed. An easier, quicker, and cheaper way to relieve sinus pressure is by alternately thrusting your tongue against the roof of your mouth, then pressing between your eyebrows with one finger. This causes the vomer bone, which runs through the nasal passages to the mouth, to rock back and forth, says Lisa DeStefano, D.O., an assistant professor at the Michigan State University college of osteopathic medicine. The motion loosens congestion; after 20 seconds, you'll feel your sinuses start to drain.

6. Fight fire without water!

Worried those wings will repeat on you tonight? "Sleep on your left side," says Anthony A. Starpoli, M.D., a New York City gastroenterologist and assistant professor of medicine at New York Medical College. Studies have shown that patients who sleep on their left sides are less likely to suffer from acid reflux. The esophagus and stomach connect at an angle. When you sleep on your right, the stomach is higher than the esophagus, allowing food and stomach acid to slide up your throat. When you're on your left, the stomach is lower than the esophagus, so gravity's in your favor.

7. Cure your toothache without opening your mouth!

Just rub ice on the back of your hand, on the V-shaped webbed area between your thumb and index finger. A Canadian study found that this technique reduces toothache pain by as much as 50 percent compared with using no ice. The nerve pathways at the base of that V stimulate an area of the brain that blocks pain signals from the face and hands.

8. Make burns disappear!

When you accidentally singe your finger on the stove, clean the skin and apply light pressure with the finger pads of your unmarred hand. Ice will relieve your pain more quickly, Dr. DeStefano says, but since the natual method brings the burned skin back to a normal temperature, the skin is less likely to blister.

9. Stop the world from spinning!

One too many drinks left you dizzy? Put your hand on something stable. The part of your ear responsible for balance -- the cupula -- floats in a fluid of the same density as blood. "As alcohol dilutes blood in the cupula, the cupula becomes less dense and rises," says Dr. Schaffer. This confuses your brain. The tactile input from a stable object gives the brain a second opinion, and you feel more in balance. Because the nerves in the hand are so sensitive, this works better than the conventional foot-on-the-floor wisdom.

10. Unstitch your side!

If you're like most people, when you run, you exhale as your right foot hits the ground. This puts downward pressure on your liver (which lives on your right side), which then tugs at the diaphragm and creates a side stitch, according to The Doctors Book of Home Remedies for Men. The fix: Exhale as your left foot strikes the ground.

11. Stanch blood with a single finger!

Pinching your nose and leaning back is a great way to stop a nosebleed -- if you don't mind choking on your own O positive. A more civil approach: Put some cotton on your upper gums -- just behind that small dent below your nose -- and press against it, hard. "Most bleeds come from the front of the septum, the cartilage wall that divides the nose," says Peter Desmarais, M.D., an ear, nose, and throat specialist at Entabeni Hospital, in Durban, South Africa. "Pressing here helps stop them."

12. Make your heart stand still!

Trying to quell first-date jitters? Blow on your thumb. The vagus nerve, which governs heart rate, can be controlled through breathing, says Ben Abo, an emergency medical- services specialist at the University of Pittsburgh. It'll get your heart rate back to normal.

13. Thaw your brain!

Too much Chipwich too fast will freeze the brains of lesser men. As for you, press your tongue flat against the roof of your mouth, covering as much as you can. "Since the nerves in the roof of your mouth get extremely cold, your body thinks your brain is freezing, too," says Abo. "In compensating, it overheats, causing an ice-cream headache." The more pressure you apply to the roof of your mouth, the faster your headache will subside.

14. Prevent near-sightedness!

Poor distance vision is rarely caused by genetics, says Anne Barber, O.D., an optometrist in Tacoma, Washington. "It's usually caused by near-point stress." In other words, staring at your computer screen for too long. So flex your way to 20/20 vision. Every few hours during the day, close your eyes, tense your body, take a deep breath, and, after a few seconds, release your breath and muscles at the same time. Tightening and releasing muscles such as the biceps and glutes can trick involuntary muscles -- like the eyes -- into relaxing as well.

15. Wake the dead!

If your hand falls asleep while you're driving or sitting in an odd position, rock your head from side to side. It'll painlessly banish your pins and needles in less than a minute, says Dr. DeStefano. A tingly hand or arm is often the result of compression in the bundle of nerves in your neck; loosening your neck muscles releases the pressure. Compressed nerves lower in the body govern the feet, so don't let your sleeping dogs lie. Stand up and walk around.

18th September - One hundred and twelve candles on the cake for the world's oldest man, who earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records back in June 2006. Tomoji Tanabe was born Sept. 18, 1895, and was named the world's oldest male after the death of a Puerto Rican man in January at the age of 115.

Tomoji Tanabe, a Japanese man born on 18 September 1895, has celebrated his record birthday at home in Miyakonojo, on the island of Kyushu, 900 kilometres south-west of the capital.

The town's Mayor paid his respects with a bunch of flowers and a cheque for 850 yen, equal to around 650 euro. 20-20 World Cup Rules
A Bowler may bowl a maximum of only 4 overs per innings.
Umpires may award 5-run penalty runs at their discretion if they believe either team is wasting time.
The following fielding restrictions apply:
No more than 5 fielders can be on the leg side at any time.
During the first 6 overs, a maximum of 2 fielders can be outside the 30-yard circle.
After the first 6 overs, a maximum of 5 fielders can be outside the fielding circle.

With fireworks, a giant TV screen, confetti and heart-shaped red balloons as the backdrop, the crowd kissed for at least ten seconds at 1100 p.m. local time (0900 p.m. GMT).
"We broke the record, it's great," said Kristina Gligorovic, the event's public relations officer. She said the record should be recognised after they submit video footage and documentation showing 6,980 couples locked in simultaneous kiss.
The organisers of the so-called Love Revolution hope to take over the crown from Hungary where 6,400 couples set the current Guinness World Record for the total numbers kissing simultaneously in June this year.
Tuzla's Islamic community protested against the event, saying that public exposure of love was contrary to Islamic tradition. Muslims make up roughly a half of the town's population.
But Tuzla Mayor Jasmin Imamovic said the event was aimed at promoting the town and its multi-ethnic community.
"We cherish the philosophy of love and not hatred. Let the love revolution start from here," he said.

Google has been lobbying the U.S. government for changes in wireless policy. While it did not achieve as much as it wanted in the planning for the upcoming 700 Mhz spectrum auction in January, it did push for the fact that consumers in the U.S. can buy any phone and use it on any carrier in the future. Meaning, that when the Gphone does drop, most likely you'll be albe to use it on any carrier you please.

The Googlephone will most likely be 3G as well, which means video conferencing, yea you can't do that with the iPhone. For you iPhones users though, would this be enough to make you switch?The Observer of London is reporting that Google might be working with HTC and mobile/telecom giant Orange to build a Google Mobile Phone, which could possibly have Google software inside the device, and would be able to do many of the web tasks smartly. The device, article speculates, could go on sale in 2008. (Of course, we would all have forgotten by then… if it doesn't happen.) Orange and Google, both declined to comment.

Their plans centre on a branded Google phone, which would probably also carry Orange's logo. The device would not be revolutionary: manufactured by HTC, a Taiwanese firm specialising in smart phones and Personal Data Assistants (PDAs), it might have a screen similar to a video iPod. But it would have built-in Google software which would dramatically improve on the slow and cumbersome experience of surfing the web from a mobile handset.

In her will, Helmsley also says Trouble must be buried in the family mausoleum with a view on New York skyline, when he dies.
Helmsley, a billionaire New York City hotel operator, had a reputation for keeping her purse strings tight and was even convicted in 1989 for tax evasion.
There's been no comment on the will so far from her four grandchildren, who between them received only 10 million dollars.

The dog will be cared for by Helmsley's brother Alvin Rosenthal, who was left $10 million.
Two grandchildren, David and Walter Panzirer, will be left $5 million each, as long as they make at least one visit a year to the grave of their father, Helmsley's son, Jay Panzirer.
"I have not made any provisions for my grandson, Craig Panzirer, or my granddaughter, Meegan Panzirer, for reasons known to them," she wrote.

Venetian Macao Resort - World Largest Casino Now Open

Casinos such as the Wynn and Sands have already helped this southern coastal Chinese city surpass the Las Vegas Strip as the world's most lucrative gambling center.

The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel is the largest building in Asia and the second-largest in the world.

The $2.4 billion Venetian, scheduled to open Tuesday, aims to take a further step and transform Macau from a gambling pit stop for Chinese tourists to a vacation and business convention destination where a range of visitors can shop, watch shows -- and roll the dice.
Macau's casinos -- which raked in $6.95 billion in gambling revenue last year, while the Las Vegas strip made $6.69 billion -- are scattered across the territory.
American billionaire Sheldon Adelson hopes his Venetian Macao Resort Hotel on Cotai will help launch a massive, concentrated resort area he calls the Cotai Strip, after its Las Vegas counterpart.
"Today is the beginning of what has been a dream of mine for some time to reproduce the capital of entertainment in Asia for Asians," Adelson said at a press conference Tuesday several hours before the Venetian was to open to the public.
The 10.5 million-square-foot Venetian -- twice the size of the Las Vegas original -- is the largest building in Asia and the second-largest in the world. The largest building is a Boeing Co. plant in Washington.
The Venetian houses 3,400 slot machines -- with room to expand to 6,000 -- and more than 800 gambling tables. It has 3,000 rooms, a 15,000-seat sports arena, retail space for 350 stores, 1.2 million square feet of convention space, fine dining and a Cirque du Soleil-produced show.
Its decor aims to replicate the beauty of Venice -- with a Chinese touch. Chinese-style sampans as well as gondolas will sail down canals. The resort also features a replica of Venice's St. Mark's Square.
Adelson also plans to open more hotels under brands such as Four Seasons, Sheraton and St. Regis next door. In all, his Las Vegas Sands, which also runs the Sands Macao on the Macau peninsula, plans to invest up to $12 billion and build 20,000 hotel rooms on the Cotai Strip by 2010.

Opinions are mixed on whether he will succeed.

Some analysts believe Adelson is smart to broaden the range of tourists visiting Macau. The convention business -- a specialty of the Las Vegas Sands -- is a lucrative one, they say.
"The Venetian will get new customers who are right now not going to Macau at all," analyst Billy Ng at JPMorgan Securities said.
Las Vegas Sands President William Weidner said earlier that 44 major conventions have already been scheduled at the Venetian for the next two years. He also said he expects the Venetian Macao to lengthen the average guest stay to three to four days from 1.2 days in other Macau hotels.
Others say it will take time to change tourism patterns in Macau.
Rob Hart at Morgan Stanley said Macau will never become a diversified travel destination like Las Vegas.
"It's going to be slow transition ... It's never going to happen to the same extent," Hart said.
"(Visitors will) go to the mall, but mainly they'll go to the casino," he said.

Longest Wimbledon Final Set Record

Brazil's Marcelo Melo and Andre Sa entered the Wimbledon record books on Wednesday when they won the longest final set in championship history.

The Brazilian pair upset sixth seeds Paul Hanley of Australia and Kevin Ullyett of Zimbabwe, winning 5-7 7-6 4-6 7-6 28-26 in a rain-interrupted encounter that spanned an unprecedented four days of play.

Although an opening doubles set in the 1968 championships took 62 games to complete, the 54 played on Court 16 is the most for a deciding set.

The total of 102 games played was also the most in a single match since tiebreaks were introduced in 1973.The match began on Saturday.

It ended after five hours and 58 minutes play and was 11 minutes shy of the longest match in Wimbledon history when Mark Knowles and Daniel Nestor beat Simon Aspelin and Todd Perry in the last year's doubles quarter-final.

Bollywood Actress Aishwarya Bachchan on Madame Tussaud Museum

The New York branch of Madame Tussaud's is all set to welcome a special guest on India's Independence Day and it’s none other than actor Aishwarya Rai’s (bachchan) wax statue, who's on loan from Madame Tussaud's London for six weeks.

It took three days for the New York staff to get her wax figure ready for display after it was shipped from London.

As finishing touches were being applied a day before the unveiling, the museum has already heard from eager fans in the US.

“It’s very exciting. We have already started to hear from fans anxious to see Aishwarya Rai, knowing that she is only here for a limited time. So, they want to come within the next couple of weeks just to make sure they get a glimpse of Mrs Aaiswarya bachchan,” Marketing Director, Madame Tussaud's New York, Rosemary A Preta said.

Mahatma Gandhi has been the only Indian figure on display until now at Madame Tussaud's New York. The museum expects to add to its Indian collection after seeing the enthusiastic response to the Aishwarya Rai display.

On August 15, Aishwarya’s wax figure will be unveiled, fittingly enough, with a lot of song and dance – a group of Bollywood actress and dancers will escort Ash to her temporary digs in the Big Apple.

Daad Mohammed lost a leg in a road accident and plans to have an artificial limb fitted in Jaipur in India - and while there he hopes to find one of his new brides. One more has already been lined up in Baluchistan, Pakistan.

"In 2015 I will be 68 years old and will have 100 children," he said. "After that I will stop marrying. I have to have at least three more marriages to hit the century. "Two of my wives are pregnant and they will give birth within two months.Tariq was delivered by my wife Mariam. He is healthy and happy and will have two more brothers or sisters soon. And I am also happy because Allah is giving me more children." The retired truck-driver, policeman and soldier has two other babies - fourmonth-old Alma and eightmonth-old Sara.

Two other children, Adnan and Sulaiman, are under two years old. His wives and exwives include Bedouins from the UAE plus women from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran and Oman. They live in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. Daad Mohammed, whose home is in Al Bustan, Ajman, spends time with each of them and has a family gettogether every Friday.

He is head of possibly the largest single UAE dynasty with 127 members, including 49 grandchildren, and has 15 houses. Two of his wives have died. Now he is going to have the same type of artificial limb - known as the Jaipur foot - that Indian dancer Sudha Chandran uses.

"After Ramadan, I will go to Jaipur to get an artificial leg and marry a beautiful Rajasthani girl," he told Emirates Today. "I have had seven Indian brides. "At present I use a crutch to move around. I am told that the Jaipur foot works better than other artificial limbs." Daad Mohammed said he received generous support from the Ajman Government, including houses and cash. He was paid a military pension of Dh24,000 a month by the Abu Dhabi Government. "Even though my family is big, I don't have any problem managing the budget," he said. "If I buy fish for the entire family I have to spend a minimum of Dh500 per day. If the menu includes mutton at least Dh1,000 per day is required, and that's just for the meat." And despite having so many offspring he does not overlook the vital duty of any dad. He added: "I take care of their requirements - and pay pocket money to each and every child.
