Just look at the size of those things. Sure, I can write; I enjoy writing; I've written a ton of documentation for this or that; I've got down rhetoric, but a novel? I've read enough of them.

I know what they're about, that is, that they're stories, and, yes, I've got a few stories of my own, but writing a novel? What does it take, I mean, what are the difficulties? Where do you start? What do you need?

To begin with, if you don't feel the need to write, if there isn't something in yourself that isn't propelling you, that isn't urging you to write a novel, then don't. All good art proceeds from a deep need in the artist to express something just as deep, something that is full of feeling, yet undisclosed (that's what writing the novel will do, disclose feeling), something that is full of the world, full of its images, and full of the time, of its concerns and tensions, full of the moment in which you live.

If there isn't something inside you that doesn't cry out, Express me!, then don't write a novel. Writing a novel begins with the artistic urge, an urge that isn't for fame, or wealth - if you can get it - but for a resolution of a conflict between human desire and a world empty of what is desired, opposed to it, perhaps giving rise to the desire by its own character, by its essence of change. If you don't have a need to create something of beauty in the world, something that overcomes its madness and inanity, don't write a novel. Get a job.

Having the artistic urge isn't enough. Like every art, the novel requires a mastery of its technology. Words, sentences, paragraphs, chapters, all arranged and ordered by, yes, the principles of style, but also by the feelings you have for the subject you wish to express.

You'll want to look into the rhetoric of fiction, the elements of the novelist's medium, viewpoint, plot, character, and the means by which a novelist creates meaning for those who will read. You'll want to have a sense of beauty, and of the sublime, but you'll also need to know something about man, about his mind, his body, his soul, for the novel is about man in relation to himself, to others, to the cosmos, to God.

A good novelist is not only a thinker, a philosopher, but also a feeler; not only a psychologist, but also a sociologist, an anthropologist; not only a natural scientist, but also, in some manner, a theologian; and yet the novelist is not any of these except as their revelations have conditioned the recognizable reality to which all good novels point. If you will write a novel, as well as being a writer, be a seer too.

Writing a novel that will be a work of art starts with you being an artist. Now you may begin.

I was not even 30 at the time, and my wife and I had only been married for a few years, and I really begin to have some doubts about whether or not I was ready for that kind of commitment.

I really could not complain about the deal we got with our 40 year mortgage in terms of our payments. They were very reasonable, and we knew that we could afford them each month and still have money to put back for retirement, recreation, and eventually starting a family. I just started thinking about the things that could happen, and I became concerned.

What if my wife or I lost our job, or had some type of situation where we became sick or injured and could not work? What if the neighborhood started to go downhill with crime or other problems? What if we started to find all kinds of problems with the house that we had not discovered initially, and ended up putting a bunch of money into repairs?

With a 40 year mortgage, it felt like were locked into a deal that could end up turning out disastrous for us, so I decided to talk to my parents, who were about three years from paying their mortgage off. I expressed my concerns about all of the things that could go wrong, and they presented a different point of view.

They pointed out to me that, while a 40 year mortgage could be a bit daunting, it could also be a relief, because we had committed to a house, and would have to make it our home. They also pointed out all of the great memories that would be established in the home, and how much my wife and I would grow to love our house and take ownership in it.

They also said they had the same reservations I had when they first signed their 40 year mortgage, and were still living in their home, and would never leave. I started to remember why we had signed the mortgage in the first place, and I felt much better.

It has been more than a decade since we signed our mortgage, and I don't even think about it any more. I have lost a few jobs in that span, and my wife has as well, and we always pulled through. We have two children now and we could not imagine living anywhere else, and the neighborhood is still a great place to live.

A 40 year mortgage can be rather daunting when it is first signed, but after you've been in your home for a while and realize what it provides you and your family, it feels more like a blessing.

It was my first time and I immediately fell in love with the freedom and exhilaration that come from cruising on the open road. I've been riding ever since, and now have both street bikes and dirt bikes in my garage.

This is what I gladly spend all my extra money on, because no other hobby or pastime can even come close to being as exciting. In addition to the bikes themselves, I also have a bunch of accessories and riding gear -- including several custom motorcycle helmets that I'm very proud of.

I take safety very seriously when I'm out on my bike. Sure, I might nudge my machine a click or two over the speed limit, but I would never dream of going for a ride without putting on a helmet first. When I was just starting out, I simply purchased a helmet off the rack at my local dealer. But once I saw a bunch of other riders sporting custom motorcycle helmets with incredible paint jobs, I decided to save up for one of my own.

Obviously it takes a bit more work and money to buy custom motorcycle helmets. The first thing you have to do is find someone that can handle the job. Since I already knew some people with customized lids, all I had to do was ask where to go. Turns out the guy didn't do his own drawings, so I had to find an artist to do a couple of sketches of the design I wanted. After that, I brought it back to the painter, along with a plain helmet, and watched him go to work. The results were amazing, so I've been going to the same person ever since.

In order to find custom motorcycle helmets in your area, you're going to have to ask around like I did -- or perhaps run some searches for nearby businesses on the internet. I know there are a lot of people out there that run full-service dealerships, which includes all kinds of painting and detail work. It will just take some extra legwork to find one close enough to handle your business. Alternatively, you could place an online order for your custom motorcycle helmets over the internet. All artwork can be scanned and submitted electronically, and then you'd just have to sit back and wait for the finished product to be shipped to you.

Of course it's not necessary to have custom motorcycle helmets to enjoy your ride, but they just look so much better than the factory stuff that you'll never want to go back. I love letting a little bit more of my personality shine through my helmet paint job, so I'll continue getting customized artwork done from here on out.

Financial woes can creep up on you out of nowhere. Perhaps you are suddenly facing overwhelming medical bills or have lost a portion or all of your income. Job losses are definitely not uncommon anymore and everyone seems to know someone who has lost a job or is experiencing some sort of financial difficulties.

Foreclosures are on the rise and you don't have to look very far to find someone who is either behind on some mortgage payments or is looking for a way to get out of foreclosure. One positive outcome from the recession is that lenders are a bit more willing to help borrowers get out of foreclosure. They arenít ignoring the fact that you may not be paying your bills but they may be a lot more willing to help you find a solution.

The best way to get out of foreclosure is simply to avoid getting into the situation in the first place. If you know that you are not going to be able to pay your mortgage for a month, or longer, notify your lender immediately. They don't want your house.

They aren't going to padlock the front door right away and toss your possessions out onto the lawn. It costs the lenders thousands and thousands of dollars to enter into foreclosure. Not only do they lose the interest and principal payments that you are supposed to be making but they have to pay quite a bit to enter into the lengthy and costly legal process in order to take your home from you.

If you are behind in your payments or simply need to get out of foreclosure, talk to your lender. Donít ignore the problem; don't avoid their mail correspondence or their phone calls. Ignoring their attempts to reach out to you could actually make things more difficult for you.

Let them know that you want to get out of foreclosure or even avoid any repercussions if possible. If you have a temporary financial situation, they may give you a few months of deferment payments or even a temporary forbearance. If it is a long term situation, there still could be options. There are programs designed now to help you get out of foreclosure. There are agencies that will help you and counsel you, at no cost, in order to help you figure out a plan and a solution.

There are other ways to get out of foreclosure. Some loans and modification plans have been implemented and created by lenders who are seeing record numbers of borrowers defaulting and walking away from their homes. You may be able to refinance and lower your payments. You may be able to sell your home in a short-sale or get assistance in preserving the equity that you have in your house.

Honestly, if you are finding it hard to pay your mortgage or have the need to get out of foreclosure, donít run from the problem. Yes, it is embarrassing and incredibly humbling. However, avoiding the problem isnít going to get you out of foreclosure.

Addressing the problem and actively and aggressively moving towards a solution is going to get you out of foreclosure. It is possible to keep your home; you simply need to reach out to find some assistance. I have had male friends that were seriously ill, and I just could not bring myself to send them flowers to make him feel better. I am not sure what kind of message that would send.

I also had a female friend that had to miss several days of work because of severe allergies with the change of season, and we were all discussing possible get well gifts for her. I thought about flowers, but then wondered if that was such a good idea after all.

Another one like that is candy. Again, there is the issue of sending another man candy, but I also had a friend who had to have her wisdom teeth pulled in college and said the pain she had to endure was pretty intense. When thinking of possible get well gifts, I toyed with the idea of candy, then tried to imagine her actually trying to eat the candy and decided against that option.

One that I always thought was a good idea was a bottle of liquor. Most of my friends have a favorite type of Scotch or whiskey, or a particular kind of wine they drink. The only problem there is that a lot of medications cannot be taken with alcohol, so the person you are trying to cheer up would not even be able to enjoy the get well gift you are giving until they are already better!

I have thought about buying stuffed animals as get well gifts in the past, but the question then becomes at what age do they stop being appropriate? A teddy bear is fine for an eight- or nine-year old, but is it really something you would want to give an adult?

Balloons are another favorite among get well gifts, and while they are colorful and festive, I often think to myself, what's the point? I mean, what can a person honestly do with a balloon?

I finally figured out a fool-proof way of providing your friends and loved ones with get well gifts that are appropriate for almost any occasion, are easy to find and almost always appreciated. Get them a get well card with a gift card inside. The get well card lets them know that you are concerned about them and the gift card shows that you are trying to bring a little cheer into their lives. They will definitely be grateful.

She owed banks the staggering loan they gave her for it of course, but in the 20 years she had it and lived in it, she gratefully saw its value rise; at first, the escalation was glacial enough, but soon, property prices in the whole area began to really take off untilher house was worth $300,000.

The ride lasted until 2008 saw the housing market collapse the whole country over; suddenly, on a house that was once worth more than a quarter-million she actually owed a half-million. Right away, the bank that held her loan, had her over in court, for eviction purposes. But there was something rather remarkable going on here.

Here they were with nothing in hand and being sued; they should have had no cards to play. But still, upon foreclosure help began to arrive in the form of considerable power and leverage in negotiating how things went.

In the end, she got an all-new mortgage company that valued her house for what it should have been worth on the market; but her monthly payments were negotiated down to a third of what she used to have. What happened was, a not-for-profit lending concern cut the bank that originally had held her mortgage, out of the equation, by buying the debt from them outright; they then sold it back to April at a 25% margin, so that they could have some kind of a safety margin to help deal with any situation in the future where they might default again. If they had been left to their own devices dealing with the bank, they would just have been out on the street with nothing to show for their ownership.

Now, they have their dignity back. How does this kind of foreclosure help happen? Actually, according to reports in the New York Times, it all started with the ideas of a bunch of law professors at Harvard, an NGO called Vida Urbana and Boston Community Capital.

What started as an experiment there, apparently a very successful experiment, is now set to be copied everywhere - the idea being that the lender goes in to help the distressed family after the foreclosure sets in, and not before. If you think about it, the banks were the ones who really fueled all this distress. Even as the world around them was coming crashing down, the banks showed no willingness to go with the times. They always insisted that they didn't care what the house's value had fallen to. If you owed them three times what your house was suddenly worth, that's what you paid. The trick has been to put a good scare into them, by actually going along with the whole foreclosure business.

This actually throws a scare into them that they finally have nothing - they are owed a great deal, and they are holding a property that is worthless. That's when they come to their senses. That's why foreclosure help is best offered after foreclosure proceedings. It is a wonder the banks don't realize that if there are a lot of evictions because of loan delinquencies in a neighborhood they have been lending for homes in, the banks shoot themselves in the foot by plowing on with their eviction policies. The more they foreclose the homes in that area, the more they fall in value, and the more they'll find families defaulting. Ah, how the power of money leads everyone astray.

It just so happens that France is a modern republic, a country where a monarchy is not even retained in name, where a publicly elected government and a well-thought-out constitution hold sway and not the individual authority of a king or queen.

How is it that other countries around Europe that were just as developed were left behind while France took bold strides into the modern world? The answer lies in the eruption of the ten-year-long 1789 French Revolution.

Everyone knows that the 1789 French Revolution was this great deal that practically changed the political landscape of all of Europe. But what was it like for the people that they should have gone off the deep end and slaughtered the royal family and brought about such stunning change? France at the time was hopelessly caught in the grip of an autocratic monarchy and a terribly fundamentalist Catholic influence. Inept kings and queens have existed before without provoking their citizens like this; but France had the misfortune of suffering a series of terrible famines too at the time; now hunger, economic mismanagement, fundamentalism and an apathetic monarchy surely sounds like a potent brew.

Exactly what was it that the monarchy did that was so awful? Well, to begin with, there were Portuguese slaves, and Jewish people and Muslims who were forced to live with no rights. Women were not allowed to divorce their husbands or to inherit property, education was virtually nonexistent, scientific thought was discouraged and Catholic dogma was enforced, and the country was run into the ground fighting unnecessary wars all around.

Here in this country, it is not uncommon to hear the 1789 French Revolution vilified and the American civil war glorified in comparison. What the French Revolution achieved is quite remarkable even by today's standards. It started that society down the path of racial equality, gay rights, feminism, and emancipation for slaves all the way back then. And in achieving all this, the French Revolution took the lives of fewer than 20,000 people.

Of course any war or revolution is bound to visit some horrors on all concerned and as in any popular revolt, law and order inevitably broke down and anyone suspected remotely of being a sympathizer of the royalty was sent to their death. Often, the mobs, drunk on the power of lawlessness would easily switch to killing anyone in sight and justifying their actions in any way they could. There was a saying attributed to Dostoyevsky "If there is no God, everything is permitted." Perhaps that explains the good parts of what shapes an event like the 1789 French Revolution

We're not talking here of the steps a PC user needs to take to safeguard bank and identity information on his or her hard disk, but the identity theft protection your bank is taking to safeguard data on you.

It has been known since 2006 that many banks have proven vulnerable to identity theft. In that year, Wachovia Bank had 441 reported cases of identity theft, HSBC, 571, Discover, 667, Well Fargo, 786, Washington Mutual/Providian 885, Citibank, 1249, Capital One, 1328, JP Morgan/Chase/Bank One, 1839 and Bank of American/MBNA, 3351, according to a report covering a mere three months (figures taken from Hoofnagle's report published in PC Magazine). Since then, the numbers have improved, but reported cases have not disappeared.

There are basically two kinds of identity theft found in banks. One, the one you are most concerned about, is account takeovers. The banks need to be concerned about the other kind; it is called synthetic identity theft. In this case, a hacker creates a new account, a fraudulent account with a fake identity. It is an identity theft protection issue to the extent that if a hacker can create a new account in the bank's production systems, the same hacker may also use the same techniques to view and perhaps manipulate other accounts, including yours. Then, the hacker can take over your account, and your identity.

Whether your identity is exposed or the bank is exposed, identity theft protection or identity theft prevention is the issue; more basically, the complete security policies of the bank is the issue. What has been done since 2006?

For one thing, identity theft protection has come to the forefront of system designers, engineers, managers and the like, as a fundamental design requirement for any bank information system.

This is not to say that security has not always been a fundamental consideration; it has now become an issue that will determine the very viability of the bank and of its standing in the industry. Many banks that were part of the identity theft problem in 2006 are gone now or have suffered terrific downsizing. This in itself is troublesome: less money for information security, for information security specialists, means more exposure for you.

We cannot say with certainty that the recent bank problems are are all aware of has, without question, made banks and their identity theft protection policies, procedures, methods, and controls more vulnerable. It may not have an appreciable impact at all. But one thing is certain: when money is scarce, protection and the engineering needed to implement it simply cannot be afforded.

What does the collapse and turmoil in the banking industry signal to you about the security of your identity? Namely this, that you would be wise to check out your banks security performance now. It's only reasonable: the less guards you have at the gates, the less protection you have. More and more companies close their businesses each and every day. The line at the local job fairs seems to be doubling by the moment. It is getting more and more difficult to get extended credit to buy large purchases or even get a credit card. Times are tough and it could end up getting even worse.
One of the best things that you can do during these tough times is to figure out how to save money and make it happen. When youíre financially strapped, figuring out how to save money can be frustrating and seemingly impossible. However, it should be your number one priority.

Being able to save money during these tough times can end up being your lifesaver. Believe it or not, figuring out how to save money might not be as difficult as it seems. The first thing that you need to do is make a chart or a spreadsheet and figure out where every single cent of yours is being spent. Do you buy a cup of coffee each morning? Keep track of that. Buy lunch at work a few times a week? Write that down. Do you find yourself walking out of the grocery store wondering how you spent so much money on so few items? Keep track of every single cent you spend for a few weeks. Before you figure out how to save money, you need to know how youíre spending your money and how much you're spending.

Realizing how to save money is a huge step in keeping yourself from drowning in today's economy. Once you take the time to itemize every single cent youíre spending, you can figure out how to change everything. Those expensive grocery store visits that you're having regularly, well, you can cut them down considerably. One of the most highly effective ways in learning how to save money is to utilize coupons and taking advantage of discounts.

Manufacturers will often place coupons in weekly newspapers or circulars. You can scour the internet for coupons. Buying generic brands instead of those famous name brands can cut your grocery bill in half.
Nowadays, people trying to figure out how to save money are finding that they can shop for items in their wardrobe or other household items or accessories at consignment or thrift shops. Sure, your new shirt isn't really new, but who will know? You can get a $50 sweater for $10 if you are a savvy shopper. Being cheap has never been more in style.

Figuring out how to save money can be incredibly stressful. Why not make it more fun? Take an old shoebox, or any box, and tape it shut. Cut out a slit in the top for a small opening. At the end of your day or your week, slide whatever leftover cash you have into it. Whether its one dollar or several, it is a way of saving money and not letting it be wasted. Before you know it, you may have enough cash to pay a few bills or some small emergency funds. The point of taping up the box is so that you arenít as easily tempted to take the money back out. Try it. You may find that being creative and finding way to be cheap may not be as hard as you imagine it will be, and could benefit you greatly in the long run.

I am proud to say that there are many apartments in the City Where the West Begins that are both affordable and in great locations.
I have lived in the Fort Worth area for the last 25 years, and it has gone through a lot of change. When I first arrived as a boy, the population was about 350, 000 people, and now it is over 700,000 and still rising. The interesting thing about it, though, is it seems like there are more available apartments in the area than ever before.

Some of the more appealing Fort Worth apartments are in Downtown and the Cultural District. The old electric building in Fort Worth was renovated in recent years and converted into an apartment complex, with some starting as low as the $700 range. These are practically right in the heart of downtown with access to restaurants, shopping, clubs and all sorts of other entertainment.
Another group of Fort Worth apartments that a lot of people seem to like are ones that were built into what was the old Montgomery Ward building near the cultural district. These are also reasonably priced, they're right around the corner from art museums and the Botanical Gardens, and they're within minutes of Bass Hall, the great Fort Worth concert hall.

A friend of mine who lived in the mid-cities area, which is a group of suburbs between Fort Worth and Dallas, recently made the move to Fort Worth because her apartment in North Forth Worth, which is a rapidly growing community as well, was not only cheaper than what she had been paying, but was actually considerably larger.

Fort Worth apartments are becoming a hot commodity these days, because a lot of people are beginning to discover that it is a great place to live. It is routinely selected as one of the safest large cities in the country and also one of the most affordable. The standard of living is high in Cowtown, that is for certain.

I have a home in Northeast Fort Worth, but I have lived in an apartment over on the West side of the city, too. I had the best neighbors I ever could have hoped for, and felt very safe, as well.

The city definitely has a lot of draws. We have culture, sports, nightlife, great restaurants, and great places to live, with safe, clean and friendly communities. Fort Worth apartments are almost always available, and if you have a chance, you should definitely come for a visit. You might just end up staying.

We met at a bridge that was supposedly haunted, and I had one of the most interesting evenings of my entire life.

These were two women who had studied paranormal psychology and had all kinds of equipment to detect movement, changes in temperature and so forth, and I actually ended up taking them quite seriously. Typically, I don't tend to believe in hauntings or anything paranormal, really, but they were quite convincing as I started to interview them.

I began by asking them how they got started as paranormal investigators, and they told me their whole story. They had become friends largely because they both felt that they could connect with ìthe other sideî and decided to explore how far it went.

They began to read on the subject and investigated a number of area locations that were rumored to be haunted, and they had actually been featured on a couple of television shows that had to do with hauntings and the paranormal.
They both had day jobs and said that they did paranormal investigation as mainly a hobby, but both very much considered themselves to be paranormal investigators and took it very seriously. They appreciated the fact that I was not laughing in their faces, as well, because they said a number of newspapers had and added that I was the first reporter to actually talk to them.

As the story of the haunted bridge went, a teenager was killed and thrown into the creek below the bridge. At night, if you go under the bridge, you can supposedly hear heavy breathing and crying, and you get the sensation that you are being watched.

As I watched the two paranormal investigators set up their equipment, which included a camera and recorder, I realized that while I may not totally believe in what they were doing, they certainly did, and that I could not say with absolute certainty that the bridge was not haunted.

We stayed out there for a number of hours and never heard any heavy breathing or crying, but there was one thing that the paranormal investigators discovered that I found particularly unsettling. Right at the place where a memorial had been created for the boy above the bridge, the temperature was about 30 degrees colder than anywhere else.

I would not have believed it if I had not seen it with my own eyes, but I did, and needless to say, after a few more questions, I was ready to leave.

I wrote a very popular story that received a great response from the local community. The two paranormal investigators I interviewed were extremely happy and grateful for the story as well, and I have since written many others. I can definitely say that my evening with those two investigators is one that I will never forget.

Before the recession, sure, people loved to save money. But, people also didn't mind spending their money either. People have cut back on their vacation plans and their family outings.

Suddenly, vacations have become more of a backyard vacation for many families. People can't afford to attend concerts or sporting events anymore as well. However, if you're willing to turn yourself into a bit of a bargain hunter and put in some time and energy, you may find that it just might be possible to take that family vacation afterall.

You also may find that you are paying less for a concert ticket and getting a better seat than you would have had you gone about it in the traditional manner.

The key is finding cheap tickets and cheap ways to go about your life. Cheaptickets.com is a very popular website that has become a lot more frequented in recent times.

On this site, you can search for cheap tickets for flying or taking a train to your
destination. You may also find cheap tickets for concerts, theaters or even your favorite sporting events.
There are lots of other sites that you may want to visit in order to find cheap airfare, cheap hotels or even cheap tickets to events. A lot sites exist and every one of them claims that they have the absolute best deals. This is why it is best to become a bargain hunter. Don't just settle for the prices that you find on one particular site. Make a list of several travel sites or discount sites that you want to explore and compare your findings before making your final purchase.

You may find that some sites have some pretty large differences in pricings and some sites only have a few dollars difference. But hey, even a few dollars can make a difference in your wallet.

Cheaptickets.com is a great site and you will find that it has a lot more of a variety of offerings on its site than other sites. If you're looking for just travel, such as, airfare or hotels, you need to visit and bookmark sites that are specifically for traveling. The most popular of those sites are Travelocity and Expedia. However, cheaptickets.com will allow you to search for other events as well.

If you have some flexibility and are a bit more willing to take what you can get, for a great price, then you may find that you come across some great deals.
Nowadays, you almost have to be flexible in your plans and your travel itinerary in order to make things happen in your favor. There are certain times of the year that travel is less expensive. Besides deciding if you can go and what to get for a gift, this is probably one of the bigger questions on your mind. You do not want to be under dressed, but you also do not want to be too formal.

When thinking about how to dress for a wedding , there are a few things you should ask yourself, and even others involved in the wedding if you are still not sure what you should wear.

If you are going to an outdoor wedding in the middle of summer, you can dress for a wedding such as this in light clothing. No one wants to be hot and sweaty at a gathering like a wedding. However, you have to know what is expected before you choose.

If the couple is having a small BBQ in someone's backyard, you won't be expected to wear anything special, just make sure your clothes are clean and stain free.

If it is a bit more formal, ladies should wear sun dresses and men can wear light fabric pants and a short sleeved, button-up shirt. These are easy to put together, breathe well, and are appropriate for most outdoor but more formal events.

You can dress for a wedding indoors during the summer in a few different ways. If you know the grooms and his groomsmen are renting tuxedos, you can guess that the dress style is going to be more formal.
You want to find something that you would wear out to a nice dinner, but that will also help you stay cool. For the most part, the bride and groom are going to choose venues that allow them to stay comfortable, so if you know they are dressing up, you should be just fine doing the same. If you are not sure, just call them and ask.

In the winter months, your options for what to wear when you dress for a wedding are wider. You may be able to tell by the invitation that a wedding is formal, semi-formal, or casual in nature. Winter weddings often come with a theme, which can help you decide what to wear.

If you are totally unsure what to wear for any type of wedding, and you are going as a guest, err on the side of caution and wear something semi-formal. This will fit almost anywhere. You may find you are not the only ones that were not sure what to wear.

On the other hand, if you are going to a wedding as the mother of the groom or in some other role, you want to dress a bit more formal than what you would wear if you were going as a guest. You will not look out of place if you are more dressy than the guests that were not sure what to wear.

Most people expect that the parents, grandparents, and the siblings of the bride and groom are going to be dressed more formally anyway. If you really can't decide how to dress for a wedding, call the bride or groom for some input, just don't wait until the day before or the day of the wedding to ask.

You may be wrong, but you are probably right more often than you think. You may also spend some time worrying about the person in question and wondering why any person would choose to stay in abuse relationships.

The answers are never easy to understand, and often as different as the person in question. Many people in these relationships stay for quite a while and some never leave.

Abuse is about power. The abuser wants to have power over someone, and that person usually ends up being the person they fall in love with, but love for them is different than for someone else. They may also end up being abusive to their children, but more often than not it is the wife (or husband) that bears the brunt of abuse in these types of abuse relationships.

Even when abuse is going on in the marriage relationship the children are spared any abuse, though they may witness mom or dad being abused, which can turn them into abusers in the future.

Why do some people stay in abuse relationships?
Sometimes it is the children that keeps them there. They don't want to take the children from a parent that may be very good to them and with them.
They may also find it harder to pack up and leave knowing they are going to have to go through messy child custody issues with the abuser once the relationship has been severed. They fear the abuser will use the children against them and try to take their children away.

Some stay in abuse relationships because they fear they will be killed if they try to go away. Abuse is not just about hitting someone.
It is also about mental control. Intimidation is used to make the victim fear the abuser and through this they control whatever they do or do not do. There are many people in abuse relationships that actually believe that they deserve the abuse. This is because the abuser has told them that for so long that they start to believe it.
They feel something must be wrong with them for someone that is supposed to love them to treat them so badly. They often don't consider that the problem lies with the other person.

Many men and women in abuse relationships will stay simply because they know it can be worse on them to leave. They fear being stalked, hurt, or even killed if they were to dare to leave. These fears are valid. However, that does not mean they should stay.

If you or someone you know is in abuse relationships, there are places to go that are safe. Most communities have safe houses and plans in place to help victims of domestic violence and other types of abuse. Don't wait around to die. Get out, find safety, and feel what it really means to be alive.

For example, if 30 year fixed mortgage rates are at 5%, then you can expect 15 year fixed mortgage rate loans to be around 4.5%.

In the first ten years of any mortgage loan, you are paying almost all interest. For example, on a mortgage loan of $200,000 at a fixed rate of 5% on a 30 year term, your fully amortized (principal and interest payment) will be $1073. Of that $1073, $833 is the interest payment. That means that only $240 of that $1073 payment goes towards principal.

As the fully amortized loan progresses, more and more of the payment will go towards paying down the principal loan balance, but you can see that by paying so much interest for so many years, you end up paying quite a bit more. In the previous example, the total finance charge (interest paid) will actually total more than $219,000 over the 30 year period. So for a $200,000 loan you will actually end up paying $419,000.

The same $200,000 home loan at 4.5% interest rate (remember, half a point less) for a 15 year fixed mortgage rate term instead of 30 year term will mean a monthly payment of $1530. Of that $1530, only $750 will go towards interest while the remaining $780 will go directly towards principal. This means that over the course of the 15 year fixed mortgage rate loan term, you will only pay $93,000 in finance charges (interest). That is $116,000 less than the 30 year loan.

Do you think that you could spend $116,000 on something else instead of your home loan?

The other big positive effect of paying your mortgage quicker with a 15 year fixed mortgage rate loan is that you end up building valuable equity.

Equity is the difference between what you owe and what the home is worth. Assuming that the $200,000 property you purchased fifteen years ago is now worth $300,000, you will be able to accrue a total equity of $300,000 by paying off your loan quicker.

This all gets added to your net worth and will serve you well when you retire or if you decide to leverage your property at a later date.

Who wouldn't salivate at a campus filled with wonderful manicured gardens, well-stocked libraries with new books, arts programs, and science and arts workshops - all at the bargain basement price of just $30,000-$40,000 a year.

Families that have been sending their children to these luxury schools for years, are beginning to reconsider what it is exactly in real-world advantages that their dollars are buying their children. After all, with half the country either unemployed or working at rolled back salaries, who has the money for inessentials?

Isn't it possible that even with all this wonderful schooling, that the child will only grow up to find a world that has no jobs?

When parents pull their children out of their private schools and show up at the doorsteps of publicly-funded schools, they're often surprised at how they aren't the dull cement holes that they show them to be on TV shows about violent schools. Public schools have administrators who are really helpful and approachable, and the racial balance is wonderful. Some parents who are really well off, just regret not having made the move earlier.

Public schools often have dedicated teachers, admirable libraries, and a vibrant extracurricular system. Still, a certain amount of loss of luxury, of cleanliness, and the feeling of used textbooks, is too much for some parents, who will sell the family silver to keep their children in their pleasant surroundings at their private schools.

But having all these middle-class families moving their children to public schools, can be a good thing. It helps improve the atmosphere at any school, to have more children from the middle of society. To begin with, parents of these children who were formerly at private schools are going to be looking beady-eyed at what the district cuts back on in a recession.
And they're not going to put up with it, intelligent and solid citizens of the community that they are. And this will benefit all students.

Having children from rich families mingling with children from lesser financial backgrounds, is a wonderful thing. The rich families give their children ambitions that are probably not available in poorer families. And when the poorer children make friends with the rich kids, they'll probably learn of all that it is possible to hope for.

And middle-class parents are always going to be active in the PTA, because they are so much more aware than poorer less-educated parents of how important it is to keep an eye on the management and direction the school takes.

They are likely to have better contacts around society, and to be aware of better ways to influence the school administration, to do what is best for the children. Enrollment at public schools in the last five years has gone up, while at private schools, admissions have dropped 5%. This is thought to be very good for the public schooling system.

Some parents will move house, to be able to pick a school district that is better. Sometimes just moving a couple blocks will make all the difference in the world. Sometimes private school children will miss their friends who've moved to the public system, and will pester their parents to allow them to do the same. Most of the time, we don't hear about intimate partner violence unless it is classified as domestic violence or requires medical attention. However, this narrow lens fails to show us the full picture, and in situations such as these, knowledge is power.

First, it is important to realize that dating violence can be verbal or physical. If your partner verbally abuses you on a regular basis, this can be considered dating violence. Verbally demeaning or manipulative behavior can have a negative impact on a person's psyche, and put them in harms way as the mental ramifications bleed into their day to day life. Much like physical internal bleeding, it can be difficult to see the effects of this kind of dating violence until the damage is wide spread.

Physical dating violence can seem subtle at first. You may think that a shove out of the way or the throwing of a pillow across the room during a fight is not a big deal, but that violence can escalate. What happens if the next time you fight, your loved one isn't holding a sweatshirt, but a set of keys? What if the next time they shove past you, you fall and hit your head? Even small acts of dating violence are unacceptable.

Dating violence can also transition into sexual violence. Because of the intimacy that occurs in dating situations, if aggression begins to manifest itself in platonic exchanges, it is possible for that to transition to the bedroom.
This is particularly alarming, given the stigma associated with saying no if you've said yes in the past. It does not matter if you had consented to sex an hour earlier. If you say no but your partner fails to listen, it is rape.

Dating violence is dangerous, because we often makes excuses for the people we care about. However, if people care for you, they do not abuse you on any level. Whether the dating violence is verbal, physical or sexual in nature, if it occurs, the best thing you can do for yourself is to extricate yourself from the situation.

Violence can easily escalate, so do not fool yourself into thinking it was a one time event. If you forgive an abusive partner, it is only easier for them to hurt you the next time around, because they know you'll let them get away with it in the end. It is a matter of protecting yourself and self-respect. Do not tolerate dating violence in any capacity.

GPS signals don't penetrate everywhere - simple things like a sheet of metal can often disrupt the GPS signal - even the roofs of cars at times.

Enter the popular maker of portable car GPS devices, Zoombak. The GPS makers usually hedge their bets for how effective a device they make will be in a given situation, by adding as many tracking features as possible. Zoombak has added the humble cell phone signal to its car GPS devices'arsenal, to help it keep its bearings in the most GPS-parched environment. And what new technology would be complete without a snazzy tech name to go with it? They thought of Locate Assist.

This only works in an assistive role - supplementing GPS satellite information in most cases. As with every other GPS device on the market, this model beams back and forth between the GPS satellites to narrow its location down to within a few yards.

And then, the location it makes out with all the GPS coordinates it gets, it pumps to its computers at the company using a cell phone signal, and you can follow its location online - a good way to keep an eye on a teenage family member, or even a stolen car.

GPS owners complain of regularly been lost for a signal when in a concrete jungle of a city - often 50% of the time. If someone steals your car he just has to store it away in some basement, where the GPS signal can't make it through all the concrete.

So Zoombak's reply to these, is to use cellular technology to supplement the GPS functionality. Since all Zoombak products do come with cellular technology built-in, you just need a software upgrade to turn this on. Of course, whatever location information it succeeds in wringing out of the cellular control channel isn't much when you compare it to car GPS.

Most of the time, it can only narrow you down to so far - cellular signals come in three kinds of accuracy levels - one that narrows it down to 150 yards one that gets you to three-quarters of a mile, and one that goes out to a mile and a half.

After all, they made cellular control signals just so that the cellular system could know which tower could give you the best signal. Still, when you are really struggling for a proper signal, cellular supplemental information can be somewhat useful.

They know that if you put it off until you actually need it, all the little details, the instances of your day-to-day abilities and competencies, will be forgotten in the heat of the moment.

And then, here's the thing about competing in a field that is overcrowded when you're desperate for a job - what you'll remember will be so minor, you'll just end up saying the same things everyone else does. ClichÈs, well-worn phrases, resume-ese (to coin a word).

When you think about how to create a resume, you need to remember that you are a brand at that job competition, and your resume is your advertisement.
Think of just how annoyed you are to see an advertisement with words peppered all over that go - "because we care", or "just the way you like it", or "cool and ready to rule". Why would the hiring manager be any more pleased to see vague claims, and have worn-out phrases paraded before him that are supposed to remind him of how competent you are? Let's look at ten of the most worn-out phrases, that, if you feel compelled to use them, would do better with a little extra qualification.

There is a set of descriptive clichÈs people use for how good they are to work with. You know the ones, clichÈs like "Team player", or "Go-to man". It's easy to understand what you're trying to say here, but it's better said without these phrases.

Try to say something like: Understand the team dynamic well enough to inspire friendly group effort and recognize that team achievements deserve no individual credit. "Go-to man" is better expressed in something that stretches out to say, "Chosen and named out of 20 possible candidates by the regional VP to fix pressing and chronic retail customer satisfaction problems".

Another route to avoid mistakes when learning how to create a resume would be to describe your abilities with lines like, "Well-developed communication and organizational abilities", or "I possess leadership, and motivational abilities".

You'd be much better off saying something like, "Proven communication skills in the planning phase on a project resulted in a reduction of the estimated planning time by 15% and contributed to the completion of the project ahead of schedule" or "Demonstrated leadership qualities have been recognized by the director, and by team members, 90% of which members were promoted to positions of greater responsibility".

You see where we are going here - the idea is to keep the meaning of the clichÈs, and taking your time to go where they really go; but you're supposed to stretch them out, and say what they mean, instead of just using them as some kind of shorthand. The idea also is to give specifics, and not just say things like "Strong work ethic".
Give them specifics like, "Have on occasion sacrificed personal time to get the project in on time". That ought to do it.

The person who had placed the ad wanted them all within a month and was willing to pay $1,000 for the job.

What surprised me the most about this particular job was that it paid $500 to start, and $500 when the project was completed. All of the writing jobs I've had paid upon completion of the assignment.

I saw another position for a construction newsletter, which was one of the more interesting writing jobs I have seen because it paid a yearly salary, with health insurance and benefits, but was still considered a largely freelance gig.

One of the more interesting writing jobs I have personally been offered was to write a book on a type of cancer about which there is evidently not a whole lot of literature. That was one of the few gigs I actually ended up turning down, simply because I have mainly been a journalism writer, and did not really know how to approach writing an entire book.

I have seen ads looking for essay writers, poetry, and, of course, the more unscrupulous areas of adult material or college term papers. Writing jobs come in all shapes and sizes, and it is certainly not a one- size-fits-all kind of field.
I have always gravitated more toward newspaper and magazine writing because those are areas where I feel the most comfortable and know that I can do a good job. I have written a number of short stories and have attempted to write a novel, but those have typically not panned out for me the way that other writing jobs have.

The best advice that I can give to a person trying to find writing jobs is to look for something you can imagine yourself actually completing with a certain degree of competence, and then give it your best shot. I can say in all honesty that there is no worse feeling than getting into a writing job where you realize very early on that you have gotten in over your head, or really have no idea what you are doing.

Out of this meeting came the ìOregon Business Plan 2.0î headed by the Oregon Associated Business group, devised to put Oregon on the cutting edge, world wide, of environmental sustainability.

Oregon, deeply dependent on its trees, was already practicing environmental sustainability in order to keep its lumber industry competitive and sustainable. Trees are a renewable resource. As well as having a biological importance, that of absorbing carbon from the air and breathing oxygen into it, thereby cleaning and renewing air, trees also provide fuel.

One of their lumber companies uses wood, or ìbiomassî, to power their electric generators. By using biomass to fuel their boilers, they don't have to burn the two million therms of natural gas that it would otherwise take. Even the emissions are used as process gases. Here's a perfect example of what a company dedicated to environmental living can do.

That's what an Oregon company is doing in deference to the environment. Their achievements can serve as an example throughout the world of how, with just a little consideration for environmental living, companies can reduce their negative impacts on the environment and save some money as well (seen the price of gas lately?).

Moreover, Oregon has, per capita, more green buildings than all other state. Since 2001, Oregon has also mandated recycling, encouraged shared commuting, and promoted compositing. The state honors the LEED certification, which is the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design certification of the U.S. Green Building Council, giving preference to those developers who are intent on developing buildings radically oriented to upholding and advancing environmental living standards.

A lofty example of such a building is found in Portland, a sixteen story building, 400,000 square feet, that is 61 percent more energy efficient that what even Oregon requires of all building in its major city. Then Oregon, in the Northwest Vesta, boast of windmill turbines powering businesses and home. And this is just what dedicated Oregon businesses have done to advance sustainable living, and set Oregon's green revolution in high relief throughout the world.

Oregon is not only leading in examples, but also in products. Oregon is a leading manufacturer of solar energy cells. She is a leader in the entire photo-voltaic field, and its university is renown for its state of the art green facilities, as well as a curriculum dedicated to environmental living on the professional level.

You will find trombe walls, which are heaters that run from collected solar energy, bio-swale filters for cleansing collected rain water atop buildings which returns the water to the rivers. These are just to name of few of the products Oregon is producing to make the world a livable place in times to come.

Hats off to Oregon, the green state that is standing as tall as its pines in defense of the earth and the future of the human race.

They held up protest signs that said something like "Purebred shows helped kill dog adoption".

This is really a stand that pushes a lot of people's buttons. The snooty dog enthusiasts hate the thought that their pursuit of perfection in the dogs they love and admire, could be not as superior a path to take as promoting ordinary mutts.

And on the other hand are the real dog lovers who just like dogs the way they are - and would really like to promote dog adoption around the country, so that we can begin to do something about the millions of dogs that are put down each year at the dog shelters. They love to point out how even the White House did its bit, by adopting a shelter dog.

Now this problem may not be as straight forward as it sounds. For instance, did you know that of all the dogs you'd find at any adult shelter, purebred dogs would account for about one in four? It isn't as if purebred dogs are all in homes already, eating precious little finger sandwiches made of their favorite dog breadspread.

The whole problem with prize dog breeding is that most breeders do it carelessly. Purebred dogs often have very serious genetic defects - they don't get bred far enough from their own family and a considerable amount of inbreeding occurs.

About two out of three purebred retrievers in the US for instance, died of cancer. Most of these problems occur when you buy your purebred dog from one of the low end pet stores. Getting them from knowledgeable breeders, will usually lower your chances of finding one with a problem.

Of course, breeders need to not try so hard to breed for a certain particular favorite look. That way you only have a few dogs to play around with, and you end up breeding them together so often, that there has to be inbreeding. If all of this is about how shelter dogs don't get adopted the problem lies in a different place.

They say that about 2 million dogs are put to death each year. That is about the same number of adopted pet dogs that die each year of old age with their loving families. Those families would want a new dog to replace the old dog with.

The thing is, not enough is done to make sure that dog adoption at shelters is made easy. For instance, they close really early in the evenings, so that it becomes difficult for working families to go to them for dog adoption. In addition, they don't have arrangements with local communities for foster care programs.

Another way to look at the dog adoption problem is this. One out of every two adopted dogs in the US, is returned within a few days of its having entered a home, because there happens to be a personality mismatch between the dog and the adoptive family.

What happens to that dog? Of course, they put it up for adoption again, and if they are unsuccessful they put it to death. The entire reason that a purebred program exists is that it makes it possible to breed certain personality traits into a dog, so that it can be be predicted to have a personality that will go with a particular family. As you can see, the dog adoption stands are not as simple as they seem.

It's where everyone congregates to talk, play games, and watch television together. With such an integral importance for family gatherings, it is important to put thought, time, and effort into decorating a living room. There are a lot of options available, so you have to really think about what would best suit your family.

When decorating a living room, you can decide to utilize a casual American decor. This kind of decorating theme usually involves neutral colors, stain resistant fabrics, and traditional pieces. For example, you may choose a tan synthetic suede couch, with rust color pillows for the sitting pieces in the room.

Coffee and end tables are usually some kind of darkly stained oak, with special finishing to prevent water rings from forming due to glasses and cups being placed on the surface. This type of decor also usually goes well with carpeted rooms and basic decorations such as lamps and family pictures on the walls. Decorating a living room in a casual American decor allows it to be easily dressed up and still be used on a day to day basis by large families with kids.

Decorating a living room can use a little more creativity, too. One can always decide to take on a more complex theme of decor, such as shabby chic. This decor style is still fairly family friendly, but may require a little more searching to find appropriate pieces. Furniture rarely matches in this theme. Do not be afraid to go to second hand shops to find your pieces!

This will not only aid your quest of finding cute, mismatched furniture that still work together in a room, but will also save you a great deal of money. Couches and love seats can be various styles and designs, though most tables in shabby chic decor are made of a light, distressed wood. When decorating a living room in shabby chic style, adorn your walls with white framed pastel prints to put on a finishing touch.

Decorating a living room in a modern style is also an option you can consider. This is usually not recommended if you have young children, as the fabrics are not the best at sustaining wear and tear, and many of the tables are made of glass.

However, if you have the checkbook to accommodate decorating a living room in modern style, it can be well worth your while. Furniture is usually very linear in fashion, and a minimalist approach is utilized when selecting pieces. It is often less about comfort and more about fashion. Wall hangings typical for this type of decor are abstract art and mirrors.

There is so much information that is public record that secrets are a concept of the past.

It isn't hard to find someone. You may have to do a bit of research and digging, but for the most part, finding someone can be fairly simple. However, there are a lot of sites that advertise their services if you want to find someone for free.
And sure, they might find the person for you, but if you want any personal information, there is typically a catch. There may be a membership registration and fee that has to be paid before youíre allowed to see any information that the site accumulated on the intended individual.

For some, paying those fees isn't a problem they just want to find someone at any cost. For others, paying a fee is absolutely ridiculous and just isn't likely to happen. So, if you aren't willing to pay the fee or give out your personal information on the internet in order to gain a membership or access to a site for a few days, what are your options if you want to find someone?
Well, there are still many options. Of course, the most popular and easiest way to find someone is just ask around. Ask old neighbors, classmates or friends if they happen to know where so and so is. Of course, while it is the easiest way to find someone, it is often the quickest way to a dead end. If you are going through the trouble of trying to find someone, that tends to mean that no one is able to guide you in the right direction. Popular social sites, such as Facebook and MySpace, are also easy ways to find someone and connect with long lost friends.

People just can't help themselves when it comes to putting their personal information on display when it comes to those sites. It is amazing as to the things that people are posting and sharing with the world. While you can create a fake name or remain anonymous, if you are on those social sites, chances are, someone will find you, the real you. So, if you want to find someone, try one of those sites. It is easy to join and very easy to conduct a few searches for some people.

If you aren't successful, simply cancel your newly created own page and move forward. There is a site that is gaining popularity rather quickly. Zabasearch is a free way to find someone. However, while it may give you some generic information right away, you will still have to pay if you want a full report. Have some caution though if purchasing those reports. Make sure that it is the exact person that you are searching for.

You don't want to pay the fees if it is the wrong person. Of course, we have all seen how easy it is to make mistakes on our credit reports and such. You may be paying for information and assuming that it is completely accurate but it may be outdated information, or worse, not valid information at all. Just make sure that you mission to find someone wonít end up being a waste of your time or your money.
