Rowing occurs in thin boats manufactured from either wood or artificial materials. Leading of the boat is named the bow. The relative back is named the stern. Boats seat between 1 and 8 rowers (or oarsmen) who face backwards and may likewise incorporate a seat for a cox who faces forwards. According to the size and label of the boat, the cox might either be at the front end of the boat, in which particular case the boat is named a front-loader, or he may be at the stern of the boat, in which particular case the boat is named a stern-loader. Gilli Danda is a favorite game played by the social persons in Nepal and India. Cricket or Baseball played with sticks of bats or balls instead, is specifically the structure of Gilli Danda. Two sticks are being used in this video game, a gilli and a danda. The danda can be used going to the gilli. In the center of a field, draw a circle on the floor 1 around. 2 meters (4 feet) in diameter. At the heart of the circle help to make a tiny oval-shaped hole. Players are divided into two teams or two players can play just. One team is chosen to bat and the other team are fielders. To commence the overall game, the gilli is is certainly positioned over the hole in the circle. The primary batter attempts to twice struck the gilli. The 1st time he tries to lift the gilli up off the bottom and the next time going to it so far as he can in to the playing field. If the batter efficiently hits the gilli, the fielders on the different team make an effort to catch the gilli prior to the ground is touched because of it. If indeed they catch the gilli, the batter has gone out and another batter includes a turn. If the fielders don't succeed at getting the ball, the danda can be used to measure the distance from the hole to the place where the gilli has landed. One point is scored for every single amount of the danda. An archive of all scores is kept. The danda is now located over the hole. The fielder closest to the fallen gilli attempts going to the danda with the gilli from where the gilli fell. If the danda is strike by the gilli, or falls in order that it is always in the circle, then your batter is out. If not, the batter gets another prospect at striking the gilli then. Each batter only has three turns at the almost all of hitting the gilli. When all of the players on the batting crew have accomplished their turns, both teams swap places. The overall game of Gilli Danda goes on until all players contain a change at batting. The winner may be the united team with the bigger score.
The game is played between two terms, each comprised of about ten players; one team being fielders and the other batters who are given a batting order. A softball and softball are used. A tennis ball and paddle may be used in case standard equipment are not available. The pitcher, from the fielding side, stands on a platform from the batter’ s box and pitches as in soft ball. The batter standing in the box, hits the pitched ball towards the field. The first bounce off the bat, shall be beyoned the one meter restricting line and shall be within marked play area. After batting, batter becomes a runner and has to run around a turning point, marked 15 m. Away from the batter’s box, and return and cross the line where batter’s box is marked. When he does this, he scores one run for his side. A second batter comes up and play is continued with the pitcher pitching to new batter. The fielders field the ball, pass it from player and attempt to hit the runner who, of course dodges and avoids. A fielder cannot walk or run with the ball when it is in his possession. He is not allowed to keep the ball with him for more than three seconds. If the fielders successed in hitting the runner, he is out of the game. A fly ball from batter, if caught, sends the batter out. When five batters ate out, the team has to leave and an inning from them is over. The fielders then become betters and the batters becomes fielders. In this way, each team plays five innings the team scoring more runs in declared the winner.

Ten Pass

Two tems of five to ten players are scattered on a play area of 30 m.X 15m. This game teaches good ball control. A play area of 30m X 30 m is divided into two halves by a middle line. Over the middle line a net or a rope is stretched about 1 m high. Two teams of 5 to 10 players each, stand on each court. The game is started by one of the players kicking a football over the net into the opponents' court. Any player of that side can kick the ball back on its first bounce to the other court.in this way the ball is kicked back and forth. The game involves two teams of seven players on a field roughly half the size of a basketball court which is 12.5 meters by 10 meters, divided into two halves. The game is played over two 20-minute halves. The teams take turns in sending a "raider" across to the opposite team's half, where the aim is to tag as many opponents as possible before returning to the home half. Tagged members are then "out" and sent off the field. The whole time that the raider is in the oppositions half, he must hold his breath to prove that he continually chants a word "kabaddi" in the Indian form of the game, hence the name. The attributes of a good Kabaddi player must have speed, power and big lungs.
It is also known as fist pugilism or pugilism of the fist. There are several types of Boxing. There is Bare-knuckles Boxing meaning you punch your opponent without wearing any gloves at all. Then there is boxing where you have to wear Boxing gloves. It's one of the most popular mainstream fighting sports in North America. No less controversial today than it was in Roman times, boxing’s brutal reputation can often overshadow the immense skill and judgement involved. Rules may have been introduced, and safety measures put in place, but the electric atmosphere of a well-fought match has not waned. The sport has recently experienced a surge in popularity as gyms and aerobics classes have adopted boxing-style training as a way to improve self-defence, and increase fitness. But it is in the ring rather than in the gym where the sport proves its popularity. Modern day boxing legends like Amir Khan are bringing the sport to life and to the people.

CYCLING

Since the BICYCLE was developed in the early 19th century in Europe, people around the world have been cycling. Most people use bicycles for recreation, but in countries such as China, cycling is an important form of transportation, while competitive cycling is an elite sport.

Cycling for recreation is very popular in Europe, and growing rapidly in the United States. Anyone with a bicycle can go for a ride, but many regions have bicycle clubs that organize weekly rides. Longer tours can range from popular vacation sites to weeklong, cross-state rides. Both racing bicycles and mountain bikes--sturdy fat-tired bicycles for riding on rugged mountain trails--are used for recreational rides.

Competitive cycling began in Europe in 1868, with a race at the Parc de St. Cloud, France. By the 1890s recreational cycling was a fad in the United States. In August 1893, Chicago hosted the inaugural world championships, sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale, the international governing body for all amateur and professional events. Two years later, professional racing on banked board tracks was added to the world championships. The 1920s saw the peak of the six-day race, in which two-man teams from around the world competed in 144 hours of nonstop racing, with one rider resting or eating while the other raced. After World War II, European road races and riders began to dominate competitive cycling. Despite a resurgence of competitive cycling in the United States, the professional circuit is still dominated by Europeans. Fast-paced racing on outdoor tracks thrives in Japan.

Softball

INTRODUCTION TO SOFTBALL

Softball is far from a soft sport — for starters the ball isn’t even soft. It’s as hard as a baseball, slightly larger; a softball is 12 inches (30.4cm) in circumference and a baseball is 9 inches (22.8cm), and comes at batters at speeds sometimes in excess of 70mph (over 110kph). Considering the pitcher stands far closer than a baseball pitcher, it is fair to say that softball players have just about as much time to react as their baseball counterparts.

Softball fields are much smaller than baseball fields, making softball a faster-paced game. Players have to be quick in the outfield and be able to run between bases, and those who excel in the infield need lightning fast reflexes to play successfully.

Origins of softball
It doesn’t take a genius to work out that softball finds it origins in baseball, but also indirectly its foundations also came from boxing. For the sport was first born in Chicago on Thanksgiving Day, 1887 when a boxing glove was thrown in a gymnasium at someone who decided to hit it with a pole!

George Hancock, usually considered the inventor of softball, tied the boxing glove so that it resembled a ball and chalked out a small diamond on the floor of the gym to create what was a smaller version of baseball. Hancock later wrote rules for his new sport of ‘indoor baseball’ which quickly caught on in popularity, eventually moving to an outdoor sport.

The name softball emerged in the 1920s and the sport later spread internationally, aided by members the US military playing it whilst on overseas service. An International Softball Federation (ISF) was formed in 1952 when its first meeting set the goal of one day achieving Olympic status.

Softball is an exceptionally popular participation sport in the United States and is played in over a hundred countries around the world. The game finally made its bow at the Olympics in Atlanta in 1996 when it was played only by women. Softball received a blow when the International Olympic Committee voted to drop it as Olympic sport for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games. Incidentally they dropped baseball too.

BADMINTON

INTRODUCTION TO BADMINTON

Badminton is a historically popular and highly skillful racquet game. It is played with a shuttlecock on a rectangular court. Like tennis, the game can be played as singles or doubles - with one person on each side, or two.

Players dart around the court, pitting their reactions and reflexes against the opposition. Four miles can be travelled by a player in the duration of a match, so fitness is paramount.

The shuttlecock flies through the air in amateur and professional games alike, giving the feathered (usually plastic) projectile its affectionate nick name of the ‘bird’. In fact, a powerful smash or serve in badminton regularly beats the top speeds of those of a world class tennis player - up to around 260kph for world class badminton players, compared to Andy Roddick's world-record serve of 246 kph. As such, badminton is arguably the world’s fastest racquet sport.

Badminton Fitness
Badminton is a popular fast-paced indoor sport. To be successful in badminton you need excellent court speed and agility, with a good background of endurance. The fitness training for badminton should focus on speed, agility and endurance, with also strength and flexibility also important.

Training should be sport specific, addressing the specific needs of a badminton player. On court training, such as playing games and badminton drills, will provide some fitness benefits, but it needs to be supplemented with extra off-court training, such as resistance exercises in the gym and other cross training activities. Here is some more information about training for specific physical attributes that are important for badminton.

Speed :- movements around the badminton court are of very short distance, so movement speed training should focus of reaction time, acceleration and agility (change of direction). There are drills to increase foot speed, such as quick feet ladder drills. Training should also focus on strength and power development.

Strength :- resistance training exercises should focus on those areas which are actively involved in playing badminton, such as the wrist, elbows, shoulders, neck, chest, abdomen, back, thighs, knees and ankles.

Flexibility :- The badminton player uses their flexibility to reach, dive and turn to cover all parts of the court. Flexibility is something that can be improved with regular stretching. The badminton player should stretch before each activity (training and competition), plus other stretches, such as pnf and active stretches, to increase the flexibility of specific muscle groups.

Endurance :- Endurance is a very important component of fitness for badminton. Badminton players cover a lot of ground during a match with little rest. Not only is aerobic fitness important for court play, but you need to be fit for long technical training sessions and to recover well between games during extended tournament play.

Adventure and Extreme Sports

About Adventure and Extreme Sports:

Adventure Sports have been best defined as 'Outdoor Sports or Activities in which the participant competes in a natural environment, more against themselves than against others'. Although the term is sometimes used interchangeably, Extreme Sports can be considered a sub-category of Adventure Sports, as well as the terms 'Action Sport' and 'Adventurous Sport' are also used.

An Extreme Sport is any sport featuring speed, height, danger, a high level of physical exertion, highly specialized gear, or spectacular stunts. Another characteristic of extreme sports is that they tend to be individual rather than team sports. Extreme sports can include both competitive and non-competitive activities.

Some of the sports listed here as Adventure Sports would probably not be considered as 'true' extreme sports. True Extreme Sports are more likely defined as a leisure or recreation activity where the most likely outcome of a mismanaged accident or mistake was death. Extreme sports are often associated with young adults wishing to push themselves to the limits of their physical ability and fear, in turn pushing the boundaries of a particular sport.

Cricket

INTRODUCTION TO CRICKET

Cricket is played between two teams of 11 players on a grassy field, in the center of which are two wickets - the equivalent of baseball's 'bases'. When a team is 'in', the other team attempts to get each of them 'out'. Then the team that was 'in' is 'all out', and takes its place in the 'out field'. The team that was in the out field in turn goes 'in' until they too are 'all out'. It wouldn't be surprising to go to a sports meet and find a wrestling bout being readied for the occasion. Every mythology has its own version of wrestling, differing in their customary rules, but the essence being the same. Wrestling is actually the act of physical engagement of two people with the motive of overpowering the opponent and pinning him to the ground. Wrestling has its roots in different nations with its own uniqueness. For example, in Japan, wrestling is called sumo wrestling where giant, obese men fight it out. In India, it is called 'kusthi'. The variations in rules and style make it customary for them to have different wrestling gear.

Wrestling gear refers to the set of accessories used by a wrestler for wrestling. They include shoes, gloves, headgear like helmets, kneepads, uniforms, wrestling dummies, etc. Modern wrestling makes it mandatory for all wrestlers to be equipped properly before engaging in combat. This eliminates the risk or mortal wounds. There is a great amount of stress on the gear that the wrestler should wear. In accordance with this notion, there are various brands and varieties of wrestling gear available.

Bowling

INTRODUCTION OF BOWLING

Bowling is a game of scoring points by knocking down pins with balls. Fundamentally, a player rolls a heavy bowling ball into a flat surface to knock down arranged pins of nine or ten, depending on the game you play. There are several forms of bowling; some are played indoors which usually uses a lane or a long flat polished wood surface with gutters along the length of the lane. Primary examples of these indoor types are the feather bowling, duckpin bowling, candlepin bowling, ninepin skittles, five pin bowling and the most popular form of bowling which is the Ten-pin.

Ten-pin bowling is very similar to the other forms, except the game obviously uses ten pins which the player should attempt to knock down as many pins possible to score points. The game has ten frames with each frame consisting two rolls for each competing player.

Another popular bowling variant is the Five-pin bowling which is often played in Canada. It is a recent modification of Ten-pin bowling but instead of two attempts, Five-pin has three attempts, and each attempt can be thrown in quick succession. The game employs smaller balls without fingerholes, making it difficult to attain a perfect score since splits are more frequent.

The outdoor type usually utilizes a lawn, or a patch of gravel. The examples of which are Lawn Bowling, Bocce, and Petanque. Petanque is widely played in especially in France.

Though there have been substantial evidences of bowling-like games in ancient Egypt, history clearly points that bowling really did occur in Germany since its dark ages. In those days, heathens and heretics abound the land and the usual practice for the German clergy was a simple test of knocking down clubs called Kegel by rolling a stone or a wooden ball. If the individual succeeds in knocking the club down, he is considered free of sin. This practice eventually made its way from the secular world to the common people and along the way got more refined until ultimately became an interesting sport that survived till this day.

Shut put

INTRODUCTION TO SHOT PUT

The shot put is a track and field event involving "putting" (throwing in a pushing motion) a heavy metal ball—the shot—as far as possible. It is common to use the term "shot put" to refer to both the shot itself and to the putting (throwing) action.

Rules:
Competitors take their throw from inside a marked circle 2.135 metres (7.00 ft) in diameter, with a stopboard approximately 10 centimetres (3.9 in) high at the front of the circle. The distance thrown is measured from the inside of the circumference of the circle to the nearest mark made in the ground by the falling shot, with distances rounded down to the nearest centimetre under IAAF, WMA, USATF, and NCAA rules.

Legal throws

The following rules are adhered to for a legal throw:
Upon calling the athlete's name, they have sixty seconds to commence the throwing motion.
The athlete may not wear gloves; IAAF rules permit the taping of individual fingers, however under NCAA rules the athlete may not tape their fingers, except to cover a cut or open wound.
The athlete must rest the shot close to the neck, and keep it tight to the neck throughout the motion.
The shot must be released above the height of the shoulder, using only one hand.
The athlete may touch the inside surface of the circle or stopboard, but must not touch the top or outside of the circle or stopboard, or the ground beyond the circle. Limbs may however extend over the lines of the circle in the air.
The shot must land in the legal sector (34.92°) of the throwing area.
The athlete must exit the throwing circle from the back.

Foul throws

Foul throws occur when an athlete:
Does not pause within the circle before beginning the throwing motion.
Does not begin the throwing movement within sixty seconds of having his or her name called.
Allows the shot to drop below his shoulder or outside the vertical plane of his shoulder during the put.
During the throwing motion, touches with any part of the body (including shoes):
the top or ends of the stopboard
the top of the iron ring
anywhere outside the circle.
Throws a shot which either falls outside the throwing sector or touches a sector line on the initial impact.
Leaves the circle before the shot has landed.
Does not exit from the rear half of the circle.

Volleyball

Volleyball is an enjoyable activity for the beach or the park. The game is played by two team of six players, with up to six substitutes allowed in a squad.

A net is fixed across the middle of a court eighteen metres long and nine metres wide. Two flexible antennae mark the extremes between which the ball must pass over the net.

Play starts by one player serving the ball over the net from behind the base line. When the ball has passed over the net, the receiving team may play the ball three times before they must pass it back over the net. Each player is only allowed to touch the ball once. The object of the game is to force the ball down onto to the floor of the opponents court, or to put them under so much pressure that they are unable to return the ball.

In volleyball, if the ball does not go back over the net, the opposition win a point. After each time a team wins the ball back from the opposition each player rotates one position clockwise. This rotation is a special feature of the game and it means that all players must play both in the front line and the back line.

A team wins a set by scoring 25 points with a two point lead and wins the match by winning three sets.

Table tennis

Many people know ping-pong. It's the game that is usually played in the basement with an opponent, with plastic paddles in hand that made the distinctive noises when a ball was struck. A fun game it was, sort of like playing T-ball with huge yellow plastic bats or nerf football. But like those two familiar games, ping-pong also has a real sport behind it.
Table Tennis can be classified as a major sport worldwide, with millions of participants, major tournaments(with its own superstars), and many other things that make a sport truly a class of its own.

As a sport that emphasizes endurance and reflexes above simple size and strength, people of all ages and genders can play on an equal field. The equipment can be had for a reasonable price, and the sport is played indoors so year-round competition and practice is possible. A game requires only two players at the least, and typically lasts around 30 minutes, enabling quick matches during breaks, etc.

Table tennis truly is a sport for the masses, and its widespread adoption around the world is a testament for its versatility. The United States has been lagging behind Europe and Asia in per capita participation of table tennis as a sport. With enough enthusiasm and support, however, this intense and exciting sport can succeed beside the old mainstays.

The true origin of Table Tennis is largely unknown, although forms of the sport have been documented as early as the late 1800s in England. The sport started becoming popular around the world in the early 1900s. During this time, the official name of the sport was changed from Ping-Pong™ to table tennis. This was due to copyright conflicts with Parker Brothers, who owned the rights to the name and game of Ping-Pong™. The International Table Tennis Federation and United States Table Tennis Association(later changed to United States Association of Table Tennis) were formed at about this time. These organizations would go on to become the primary ruling bodies of table tennis.

Table tennis has evolved significantly since its surprise birth upon the sporting world, acquiring many revisions of rules and seeing an evolution of equipment as technology and playing styles changed. Such refinement only serves as evidence that table tennis is indeed a full-fledged sport, comparable to any of the other classics we behold with reverence.

Golf

Successful golf is much more than a ball chase, or as Mark Twain acerbically termed it, “a good walk spoiled.” The sport of golf is a uniquely engaging and enigmatic challenge that demands golfers use every part of themselves - bodies and minds, in an integrated way. Working with the concept of mind-body integration is the foundation of the New School of Golf’s™ teaching methods.

Twenty-first Century sport training is full of new ideas and extremely exciting. The scientific community has become involved in sport training from sport psychologists to Hypnotherapists. Lying within each of us is the potential for great achievements. Cooperation and training of both sides of the brain is the key to peak performance.

Traditional teaching relies on the left side of the brain which is linear, analytical and literal. Attention is focused on the physical movements of the body which hinders the smooth flow of the golf swing. Traditional teaching methods have focused on the physical side while stating the game of golf is 90% mental.

The new golf is aware of the importance of training both left and right hemispheres of the brain.Along with the PGA TOUR autoputt the application of this philosophy will change your game. The new golf integrates the left brain (logical information) with the right brain (universal information). The new golf works with the right hemisphere and body's intelligence allowing you to perform without conscious awareness. Movements are practiced until they become unconscious, effective, motor skills that you no longer need to pay conscious attention to, commonly called "muscle memory". An example of this would be juggling balls: each movement is learned using the left brain to map the pattern and is then done "automatically" using the right side of the brain.
