It was an awesome beginning to the school year...

I finally got back into my favorite pair of jeans!!! No, not the impressive, " I can't believe how thin she is"... or the "wow, you are taller than I thought!" jeans still hanging patiently in my closet... I did say "awesome"not "perfect" beginning of the school year!

You know the jeans I mean... for some it is Joe Jeans, a few it is Paige or even if you have the right figure... 7's... no, my favorite, most comfortable "look for any excuse to wear them jeans" is my size 6 (did I mention I am down to my size 6 stuff!!! I did mention "awesome", right?!) pair of the softest most comfortable weekend jeans I have... my Lucky Sweet Dreams!

Under extreme stress over the last week due to school starting and ... negotiating a profitable deal...I have been neglecting my particularly healthy eating habits..amazingly this resulted in leaving me with only 3 more former baby pounds to drop!!!

Today my comfy Lucky's ... a jean that is both flattering, not outrageously expensive despite it's attractiveness and sooo soft!!!...

Tomorrow... hmmm... I am thinking Genetic Jeans?!

The possibilities are endless... After all in the Coco World.. if there are upscale neighborhoods with moms... there will be well fitting dark wash jeans.

Ways to be Eternally Chic...hmmm

Got this from an old copy of Self Magazine on my shelf... great ideas... just thought I would add the Coco Sparkle Twist...After all, I live in the world of the Coco Mother and the rules are a bit different...

So let's look at one Style Secret:

Own the Classics...

Self says: Black Cashmere sweater, white button down shirt, knee length skirt, a trench coat in a zingy color, a classic handbag.

Classics in the Coco Mother world:

Ralph Lauren - Blue label..

Cashmere with children?! Disaster. A Great twin set or cardigan from Ralph Lauren, JCrew or Banana Republic is a more popular choice and smart with this crowd.

Anne Klein and the new trendy Genetic jeans...

A skirt? No, no, no... classic is awesome designer jeans and The LBD (little black dress).

Gap...

Trench in a zingy color? More like a nice blazer or jacket. Although some very chic Coco Mothers do have pea length trenches in solids and some even in solid metalics.

Banana Republic..

White button down shirt...Absolutely... that is like commandment isn't it? If Thou are fashionable Thou must own a white button down shirt.

Versace's offering for fall...

A classic handbag? Well, not so much a classic handbag as much as a large designer handbag.

Gosh so much to say and soo little time.. have to dash to yoga class.. remember I still have 10lbs to go before school starts!!!

We'll continue this... and believe me there is more ... next time!

Coco Sparkle! 5 Must haves for Fall wardrobe

I have always hated shopping.

I dislike shopping even more when I have to shop to get dressed before going out anywhere. I can never decide what to wear and what will look right on me.

When I entered the Coco Mother's world, I learned quickly what was acceptable (the right jeans for instance) and what was not (sweats). For someone who hated shopping and picking clothes...this was a nightmare.

That was until I made my life as simple as possible. Pick the basics. Keep clothing manageable. Stay simple.

Here is what I have learned over the past few years...

Every Coco Mother will have these 5 things included in her fall wardrobe..

1. The perfect jeans... yes, the Coco Mother will have probably more pairs of jeans than anything else but there will one perfect pair that always makes her feel tall and slim!

2. The white shirt... now we have talked about this before... but a white shirt is always a part of the Coco Mother's wardrobe... this shirt might change a bit with the trends but count on this being one of the hardest working pieces of the Coco Mother's closet.

3. The blazer/jacket...although the Coco Mother will usually have an assortment...she usually will use 1 or 2 constantly revamping its look with different stylish touches.

4. The tee shirt... yes there will be fun embellished tees in the Coco Mother's closet... but if she is truly tasteful you will find she has the absolute perfect solid color tee shirt in black, and in white..this tee will go under jackets, sweaters, ironed on it's own... and fit ideally not too snug to expose areas of her body which are "works in progress" but not so loose it will resemble a tent. It is more likely to be a "V" neck (as they are usually the most attractive) but might also be crew.

5. Black pants...it may be a cool boot cut black denim, perfectly draping crepe, or the classic wool. The Coco Mother is a classic and she will have the one pair of ideal black pants.

What about the little black dress? What about the sweater set? What about the capris, shorts, etc? Active wear? And WHERE ARE THE SHOES!???

Yes, there are many pieces I did not include. Rather, I am presenting a skeleton upon which to build the body of clothing you will be seen in daily. Take it for what its worth.

But see if I am wrong.. I think I have this one down...

Coco Sparkle! Top Five Cocktails for Coco Mothers...

So you have a dinner with your husband's boss and his wife scheduled? Or maybe a night out with the girls (GNO) - something you have not done since college? Heaven forbid!!!

Besides putting together the perfect ensemble, the Coco Mother has ANOTHER hurdle (as if she did not have enough) to deal with once seated...

What cocktail to order?

First, the DON'T order list:
1) White wine spritzer
2) Chablis
3) White zinfandel

With that out of the way, let's get a drink!

1) Margarita - You cannot go wrong with this cocktail at casual occasions. Hint: Get it on the rocks (using Patron) and with salt. Nothing says college like the frozen version.

2) Mojito - Some say this rum, lime and mint concoction is the "new margarita" in suburbia. Who knows? Who cares? They are delicious!

3) Martini - a dozen versions and all sound good at a semi formal occasion. Avoid trendy brands when in mixed company such as the Cosmo or Apple-tini. Stick instead with the classic gin or vodka standards.

4) Tie: Salty Dog, Vodka Tonic (think Grey Goose!), Gin and Tonic, Gimlet, Manhattan (think Bombay Sapphire!) - Order a drink like your mother would have done 30 years ago! Timeless oozes good breeding.

5) Champagne Cocktail - The classic for formal occasions - champagne and chambord in a fluted glass (a.k.a. Kir Royale). You can never go wrong with this one.

Ahh... Friday...Date Night, GNO, MNO,.. just go forth and enjoy! Cheers.
