Aldo and Alda

If you have read my post about Tommy's birthday presents to Bren, then you would have heard about Aldo. And now, I want you to meet Aldo, Bren's little baby aside from Bella but definitely not Bella's brother or whatever lol. Aldo and Alda are actually one of the symbols of Bren and Tommy's friendship.

I really don't understand why Bren bought Aldo in the first place although he said that Aldo is unique. He bought Aldo in a mall when he attended a seminar in Manila last 2010. We gave him the name Aldo from Bren's first name Romualdo. After Aldo, there's Romy also a mechanical orangutan toy from Tommy but due to his cuteness and walking talent, he's nowhere to be found courtesy of either Bella or Yoshi. Bren, was actually furios upon knowing it but what can he do? Babies love to play with toys =).

And now again, Tommy gave Aldo another sister whom we called Alda. Aldo and Alda are now Bren's companion inside his car which also has a name. Just don't mind the car's name but for now, I would leave you with Aldo and Alda to look after while I am away. I still need to attend to my father's needs in the hospital for the next few days.

Have you been to Chicago? I bet a lot of you have already visited this city. I am asking because I have never been there but dreaming to visit that city someday. It is because of this dream that lead me to research about the place. Bren celebrated his 40th birthday surrounded by friends and family who loved him dearly. His big day was made even special by Tommy who gave him a bottle of Tanduay Rum (their nightly buddy), an ID holder with special print which I like the most and a stuff toy (pink little monkey) whom we called Alda in which Bella get to hold first. Alda has now become Aldo's adopted little sister. Wondering who Aldo is?

"This Guy Is Not Single"...Lol!

Tommy also gave Bren 2 sets of extra guitar strings. In case you do not know, Bren and Tommy both share the love for music. Both of them can sing and play guitar very well but Tommy is exceptional because he can write, arrange and play original songs. Yes, he is really into music and a true musician.

Thank you again, Tommy and Ate Claire for making Bren's 40th birthday extra special. By the way, the Tanduay left during the party that night was re-sealed and kept by Bren for you to consume on your next vacation here in the Philippines and we pray that it's going to be sooner for we miss all of you already :( .

Whitney Houston dies at 48

I saw ABS-CBN's ASAP giving tribute to the legendary Whitney Houston and I can't help but feel sad about what happened to her who has been said to be "the greatest of all time" in the music industry. The singer was found dead last Saturday in Beverly Hilton, Los Angeles at around 3:20AM PST. The cause of her death was not yet revealed and it is still under investigation. This incident gathered different reactions from fans and friends all over the world.

I am personally affected by this news because she was one my favorite singers in the whole wide world. At the age 48, a lot of good and bad things have been said about Whitney but the truth will always remain that she has the genuine talent that was beyond compare. I will always be thankful for the life of Whitney because I was somehow blessed by her talent.

Goodbye Whitney! Thank you for sharing your talent to the world. You will forever be in our hearts.

Replacing Car Windshield

Having a car is convenient especially when there is a family emergency just like when we brought Bella to the hospital a few days ago. That was one of the time wherein I am so thankful for having a car ready to take us anytime and anywhere without the hassle of waiting. But the downside of having a car is its maintenance. Providing a good maintenance for your car is more expensive than raising a kid. And that was what I have been telling Bren repeatedly.

A few months ago, our car's windshield was broken when it was hit by a mango fruit. I have even made a blog post about it sometime last year. I was a bit hesitant to have it replaced immediately when it happened because it is a bit costly on our part. Friends Worth Keeping

I admit that am a bit choosy when it comes to friends. I don't want to invest much emotion on friends because I know that they come and go, but if I the person is worth keeping I don't even give a second thought about it. I would prefer having few but true friends than having a lot but some are not true and can only remember when they need something from you.

I am glad that among the friends I consider in my previous work, I have these persons whom I can say my true and loyal allies, Julz and Exper.

Exper and Julz...

For professional and personal reasons, I don't usually make friends with people at work but Julz and Exper are an exemption. They are actually my workmates who became allies which in turn became my good friends. They are almost a family to me. I am not afraid of showing them I care because I know that they are worth keeping and the friendship that we have will surely go a long way.

I thank the Lord for people like them and I am very blessed to have them as friends. I am happy knowing that they have the same love, respect and admiration for me as I have for them. Thank you so much guys for your friendship.

Watching Live Concerts

My husband and I have been talking about our previous experiences watching live concerts during our college days. How we so enjoyed it especially when our common favorite filipino rock band Eraserheads are the one playing on stage. Most of the time, concert goers went wild during the performance and it is a good thing that crowd control devices are available to keep everyone safe.

To be further kept apart from the crowd, we usually avail tickets near the stage which are only separated by a stanchions so watching the concerts becomes more exciting. Although ticket prices are a bit higher compared with the standard rate, it was okay because in that manner we get to enjoy the show and at the same time feeling a little safer near the front stage.

One thing I noticed during most concerts aside from the usual barricades, are the velvet rope which are installed in the event venue which in a way controls the crowd. I believe that utilizing equipment like the ones I saw in the concert generally keeps the event more organized.

I am so thankful that Flo took an effort to see me during her Davao Trip. There's a lot of stories to tell and a lot of old memories to remember but time didn't allow us to do so but what is important is we have finally saw each other after sixteen years. Yes, sixteen long years of not seeing each other but we have managed to keep our friendship intact.

I believe that there are friendship that lasts a lifetime and one of those is ours. I think no words can best describe our friendship but the title of this post. This is actually a borrowed phrase from Flo's blog post about this reunion. Thank you friend. Hope to see you again soon. I love you.

CDO Vacation: Lunch With My Bestfriends

We arrived in Cagayan de Oro two days before Yoshi's birthday last November. My sister asked for my assistance in shopping some of the stuff for Yoshi's 2nd birthday celebration a day after our arrival. While doing some shopping, my best friend Lucille called me and decided to join us for lunch. I was overjoyed upon seeing her because it has been years since our last meeting.

Most of the party favors can be found somewhere in Cogon so we decided to meet at the nearby McDonald's in Ororama. Since my sister just tagged me along, it gives me an excuse not to shell out any penny for our lunch.Lol! I think the lunch was courtesy of them both... ;)

We super enjoyed our time together catching up over lunch. Lucille and I have been friends since our first year in college in 1995. Try do the math so you'll know how many years we have been together as friends. We practically hang out everyday during college days and to save me some extra bucks for food, she would invite me to stay at their house for a few days. Her whole family have in fact became my second family in Cagayan de Oro.

The time with my best friends didn't end up after lunch because Lucille decided to come with us at home to spend some extra bonding time. We surely miss each other a lot! That afternoon, we talked about a lot of things from the past, the present, the future and everything we can think of. I find great joy seeing her happily married with the man she loves and being blessed with two lovely daughters who are consistently making them proud of their achievements in school.

I was so shocked to see my Adgitize ads today stating that Adgitize is closing. I immediately checked and log in into my Adgitize account and I was just greeted by the post that says that indeed adgitize is closing. Adgitize have stopped showing ads since the 1st day of January this year. The announcement was made by Mr. Ken Brown last December 27, 2011. Adgitize's website will only serve its publishers and advertisers until the 31st of January 2012.

It saddens me to see Adgitize go because it really generates traffic for my blogs. I was once an advertiser and advertising with Adgitize really worked for me. Now that that adgitize is closing and previously the CMF Ads; as a blogger, the only venue left for me to promote my blog now is through Entrecard. I guess it's time to get serious with dropping ECs now that Adgitize is gone.

There are a lot of things to be thankful for about the year 2011. I could not put all of them in just one blog post but generally my life and my family are very blessed to surpass the challenges that the year 2011 brought us. The whole family have been blessed with good health and also there are numerous projects that me and hubby have completed.

I am really busy today but I couldn't let this day pass without making a post. For me, this day is very special and also a very important one because this is the very first day of the year 2012.This day symbolizes new hope and new future that 2012 will bring. I am so excited for the new year because I am so looking forward to everything new... new life, new work, new plans and all the good news there is to it.

This has been our third Christmas here at Waterlily Street and so far every Christmas celebrated here is always simple yet full of fun and excitement. People in the neighborhood go out of their houses to join the celebration along Waterlily Street. Games and other activities sponsored by of our generous neighbors are so much appreciated by the kids who are competing to get the prizes in every game. This year, Auntie Pacing together with Tata spearheaded the games and activities for kids. Uncle Idol even dressed up as Santa Claus to amuse the kids who would willingly want to take their pictures with him.

It has been part of the family's tradition to have a color motif every Christmas and New Year's eve. So for Christmas this year, we all agreed to wear pink to emphasize Bella's presence in the family. We usually have friends joining us during holidays and this year my good friend Exper and his son Orit celebrated Christmas with us.

Christmas is always memorable no matter how simple you celebrated it. What's important is, it was celebrated with fun, laughter and love with the people you cherish. Waterlily neighborhood is full of loving, caring and generous people. We instantly feel at home even during the first Christmas with them last 2009.

CDO Vacation: Enjoying Xavier Days

Hi everyone! I am very sorry for leaving this blog deserted for quite a while to give way to my much-awaited vacation in Cagayan de Oro City. Visiting CdO has been in our calendar for a few months already. It was not actually a grand vacation because hubby was left behind at home but nevertheless Bella, Macky and the rest of the family including me had a wonderful and memorable sojourn in Cagayan de Oro.

I could not compress in one post what I have experienced in my two weeks stay in CdO but I will be sharing it to you one by one in my future posts. My long vacation includes shopping, decorating and cooking for Yoshi's birthday party, a pool party, a college reunion party, dinners and lunches with family and friends and of course party and wandering at my beloved Alma Mater during the Xavier University Festival Days.

Another unforgettable part of my visit during Xavier Days was the chance to have a long bonding time with one of college best friends in her Siomai Station at the Soccer field inside the University. Of course, it gives me an access to eat unlimited siomai. I will make a special blog post about Ludy's Siomai in my foodie blog later.

It really feels great to be visiting my Alma Mater and enjoying its festivities after 12 long years. I saw a lot of improvement especially on its physical structure. Another thing that surprised me was the way the students get in and out the University because of their security and ID system.

The students will have to scan their ID before they can get inside the campus and scan again before they can go out. There was this big TV screen that flashes the face, the name and ID number of everyone who scans. Hi -tech eh? Lol!

I grow up seeing my parents working hard to feed us and send us to a good school. Looking back, for more than two decades our livelihood was the little food stall near the wharf area in Cotabato. I would remember waking up at dawn to help my parents especially when passengers flocked our store to have a morning coffee. It was actually my first job because before the day ends Mama would give me some amount as payment for my service.

I realized that managing a business is such a hard thing especially when you do not have somebody to rely on particularly when it comes to financial matters. We were still young then so my parents have no other choice but to carry the loads all by themselves. If only they were techie enough to discover Lettings Software, I am sure their life would be easier.

Our internet has been disconnected since Wednesday. It was initially my fault because I failed to take note the payment due date. I was actually waiting for the call from PLDT reminding me of my due date and payment schedule. See, that's how confident I am thinking that my internet service provider cares a lot because they have been doing that for the last few months. I was a fool to believe that they will be consistent.

By the way, upon knowing that our internet was disconnected I immediately went to the nearest PLDT Office to pay the bills. Thinking that like other ISPs they will immediately take action and reactivate my connection but I was so wrong! Because after several times of calling them, I was told that my connection will be back within 24-48 hours and that's supposed to be last Friday! Obviously, you knew what happened for until now I could not spend enough time to visit all your blogs as much as I want to and it annoys me more than anything!

It was such a headache calling PLDT's customer service hotline because you have to wait for an average of 30-40 minutes to be entertained by their representatives. It's such a waste of time but I have no choice but to wait just to get the much needed reactivation. For the last five days, I have been making several calls but then again I was only told to wait for another 24-48 hours AGAIN! Just this morning when I tried to follow up my connection, I waited for 45 minutes again... enough time for me to take a bath and eat my breakfast. Good thing though I did my thing while waiting to be answered.

I am really having a hard time with my internet service provider because until now we weren't able to enjoy the watchpad they've been bragging about. It's fine though because we can live without the watchpad but the very basic connection? How is that? Why is SMARTBRO and SUN can immediately reactivate your connection as in RIGHT AWAY as in right after payment and why PLDT MyDSL could not? I know that both SMARTBRO and PLDT are owned by the same person but why there is such a big difference when it comes to their service?

I am now living and breathing internet from my neighbor's WIFI connection but I needed to go out of the house just to smell a little connection. I have just started my online job and I am not sure if I could still be able to get that job back after a few days of being offline.

Guys, if you think about switching or getting PLDT MyDSL as your internet service provider, I suggest that you better think again!

**I am sharing this not to bash PLDT MyDSL but for my friends and readers to be aware and will have an idea based on my experience with PLDT MyDSL.

Update: Reconnected after 7 long agonizing days.
