Deciding on what subject to study and what career to pursue post graduation are only two of many other questions to raise. One of the most difficult questions relates to which university to choose. Some people are lucky enough to know where to study, but if you don't feel too lucky, university rankings can just help you pick your future school.

University rankings are lists of institutions that are ranked based on combinations of factors. Ranking are typically conducted by illustrious magazines, newspapers, governments and academic organizations. There is an expanding diversity in the grading system used for ranking. Some of which include measures of research excellence, student choices, learning environment, citations and industry income.
According to Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings for 2010-2011, the University of Cambridge is the top-ranked educational institution in the world. Located in Cambridge, England, the public research university is rich in history as it is the second oldest university in the United Kingdom and the seventh oldest globally. This prestigious institution has also built a sizable number of alumni who are highly notable in their respective fields. The school's reputation is endorsed by many external reviewers of learning and teaching.

Behind Cambridge University is the oldest learning institution in America - Harvard University. The influential institution continuously enjoys a strong reputation grounded in the success of the graduates and supported by outstanding teaching faculty.
After Harvard comes Yale University, the third oldest institution of higher education all throughout the United Sates. This prominent learning institution is distinctively committed to excellence in education for students in all levels.
Behind Yale, the next top universities in the world include University College London, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Oxford, Imperial College of London, University of Chicago, California Institute of University, Princeton University, and Columbia University.

University ranking is perhaps one of the most essential factors for choosing the right university. Generally, high rankings signify good quality of education. While there could be more than one list of the world's top universities, they could mean a lot for students who only want to get the best of education. Since higher education is fast becoming global in this day and age, rankings can be truly beneficial for international students planning to explore foreign countries. Besides, rankings also raise awareness of universities being ranked. In this manner, there will be an increased competition amongst institutions which will consequently lead to a better quality of education.

Life at university doesn’t have to be as orthodox as people make it out to be. What determines how your time is spent there is the mind set that you have. Usually this mindset surrounds your initial expectations. Many people enter university with a less than social attitude towards their fellow colleagues. From the very beginning many see the institution as a play ground for competitors.

They therefore are not prepared to socialize at length with anyone. This attitude however will do them more harm than good. Often people are under the impression that the university will be offering degrees only to the student whose performance is most outstanding. This is another of the myth invented in their minds. No man is an island; success in this environment cannot be attained easily without the help of one’s piers, if this fact is not realized by choice, most people will be forced to accept it well into their university lives.

<script type="text/javascript"

Students who are good at speaking in front of groups, have a talent for instruction, and who enjoy working closely with others may love this field. An education degree can have many different specializations. It is important that a student considering an education major carefully evaluate all of them.

For those wanting to work with preschool aged children, a degree in Early Childhood Education may be their perfect match. Most universities have degree programs in Early Childhood Education, but their requirements differ. They may only require some experience with young children, but others can require some classes at a community college. The expected salary can be low in the beginning, but increase over time in the field.

To teach elementary school, many do not realize that a degree in Elementary Education is required. University programs in Elementary Education will prepare future teachers to teach kindergarten through grade eight. They will be expected to build a large knowledge base, so they may teach all the different subjects learned in elementary school. Due to the increasing numbers of students entering schools every year, there are always openings for elementary school teachers.

A degree in Special Education is a good opportunity for future educators. A degree program in Special Education at a university will require a student to have patience, understanding, and the ability to encourage and motivate. The program will instruct future special needs teachers to successfully teach those with disabilities, such as mental retardation. Careers in Special Education can be very satisfying considering the impact of these teachers on those they teach.

Interested in teaching English as a second language? A degree in ESL Education may be a good choice. This degree will enable graduates to teach English to non-native English speakers. The program can provide the skills necessary to teach English well, making students definite experts in the language. The pay is often better than other teaching jobs.

Some prospective students want to work in education, but would prefer not to teach. In this case, a focus on School Administration might be the best route. A program focused on administration will prepare students for careers as school principals by putting them in courses on school leadership and school finance. These careers are usually very well paid.

Certain education majors who prefer to teach older children can receive degrees in Secondary Education. This type of degree provides coursework in teaching methods and fieldwork is expected. Different approaches to education will also be taught. Once the degree is completed, graduates can enter the field and expect a decent, if not enormous, salary.

After looking closely at all these options, a student may realize that a degree in education online or on campus will lead to a career that will be more than perfect. There are clearly a variety of areas to specialize in and online classes allow prospective teachers time to learn and get experience. There are even options for those who do not necessarily want to teach. Because of the excellent job outlook and job security, this is an appropriate field to major in.

For example, studies have shown that speed reading increases comprehension, rather than diminishing the possible results.

Concentrated study, done with a method designed for the maximum speed in learning, tunes up your mental acuity. You use it, you don't lose it! Following are a few tips to add even more benefits to any rapid learning course you are studying, or plan to study.

Ways To Help Your Brain Function
First, breathe deeply - oxygenate your brain, and in doing so, plant a signal to your brain that now you are turning your thoughts away from any distractions, and are about to begin concentrating on your course of study.

Ten deep breaths is even better, and if you can manage it, ten minutes of deep breathing and focusing attention on your breath, mentally removes you from your immediately previous activity. It also quiets stress chemicals in your brain, in case if you have had them running rampant.

Learning a new language? This Is Good News For You!
Studying to speak a new language has shown to be one of the activities that decreases the decline in brain power associated with aging.

At this time many more factors are known to be involved in the aging processes, such as nutrition on the positive end, and drugs and other ingested contaminants crossing the blood/brain barrier on the negative end.
So anything you can do to combat the aging phenomena, could be considered beneficial to your brain power.

Brain Stretches Can Result In Increased Empathy
You will discover new thought processes provoked by a different culture's viewpoints on many things, when you learn a new language.

Innovative ways of viewing life's challenges and joys, exercises your brain in yet another way. It moves you from your mental comfort zone and increases your understanding of fellow human beings.
Or maybe increases your bewilderment of fellow humans, yet you can appreciate the difference in a new way.
It seems then, that combining learning an entirely new mental structure such as a language, combined with a speed study format, would be extremely beneficial for your brain. Anti-aging is everyone's issue, no matter your age.
Vitamins And Nutrition Reported To Increase Brain Power
There are many nutritional elements that we can add to our diets through the right foods, or food supplements, if we are going to take on a speed learning course of some kind.
The Vitamin B Complex is part of the recipe that makes brain chemicals, and increases their effectiveness. A vitamin B deficiency commonly shows up as mental fatigue, poor concentration and even mild depression. It is not that these symptoms don't have other causes, but these are the "usual suspects".
Omega 3 oils, or fatty acids are instrumental in brain health. What ingestion of theses healthy oils does for the brain is quite phenomenal. The liver processes these fats to create crucial neurotransmitters, without which peoples' lives fall apart.

Not That Determination And Intention Don't Count:
The human spirit can summon up the most amazing energy to conquer anything. So even though deep breathing, vitamins, and other healthy supplements will add to you realizing your goals, the "just do it" attitude should never be underestimated.

I think it is amazing and wonderful that you can improve your brain power, combat mental aging, and acquire a fantastic and practical skill all at the same time. If you're moved to explore expanding your life this way, you can get more information about your vitamins-supplements-nutrition needs, to support a speed learning activity.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Diane_Embee

This article will explore some key tips and techniques to improve students' learning skills that help to survive with better grades.

1. Be alert and serious from the beginning of the session.

2. Set yourself feasible goals. At the beginning of a class session you should set a reasonable and achievable grade goal. Don't set the goal beyond your capacity, otherwise you will be depressed and frustrated.

3. Attend all classes regularly, never separate yourself from study.

4. Be very attentive and active in each class. Always enter a classroom with a fresh attitude,be sure to always concentrate on the lecture or tutorial.

5. Write down key points when the professor delivers the lecture or tutorial, never try to write down more than you'll need.

6. Discuss the lectures with your friends regularly. This is very strong and most effective way of learning quickly and deeply. Try this you will be surprised.

8. Make your own unique notes, this technique will create your own writing identity.

9. Review the notes everyday to ensure that the information stays current in your brain. Making notes in itself does not ensure good result, you should revise regularly.

10. Maintain a free flowing communication channel with your professors. Regular communication with them will motivate and guide you towards surviving college.

11. Try your best to follow the suggestions of your course teachers. By following your teachers' suggestions enhances to answer on the point.

12. Also maintain an active communication channel with your family and friends.

13. Exercise regularly, a health body produces a healthy mind.

14. Get prepared in advance for your upcoming exam.

15. Get the required amount of sleep prior to the exam day.

16. Ensure to have yourself a good breakfast before sitting for exam.

17. Ensure to read all instructions very carefully, not properly following instructions could be tantamount to failure.
18. During the exam, answer the easier questions first then move to others.

So, initially it appears to be an obligation for a family and or a country, to provide a child with almost every chance to grow or to prosper physically as well as mentally. We have seen that the countries, which fall in the category of under-developed, are facing the major problem of illiteracy.

Countries like South Africa and Afghanistan for example, have not progressed yet because they have the lowest ratio of education. Whist, countries like America, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia are in the race of developed countries. The major reason behind their development and progress is their standardized educational system. The UK has the high literacy rate of 99%.

The above mentioned statistics show the significance of education in the life of a country. It not just contributes to a country's development and growth but also revolutionizes young people's minds to civility.

Undeniable strength of a foundation
Nothing can stand or maintain its position without the support of a solid foundation. Every young mind requires a stable nourishment for its growth, in the form of education. In this process, formal education plays a fundamental part, which a child usually acquire from primary , preporitory, private or secondary schools.

School is the initial home of education, where one gets familiar with the basic principles of a right and a wrong. Countries like UK has made education a compulsion for all children.

We've observed that acquiring formal education in many countries, has not been a necessity. Parents should admit and realize the deep-seated strength of education for his/her child because education is as important as a healthy diet for proper physical and mental health.

Many ancient thinkers, philosophers, and writers like Aristotle, Plato, and Einstein, etc have written books in the significance of education. Aristotle's writings encompasses morality and aesthetics, logic and science, politics and metaphysics. This wide range of study reflects that acquiring education or knowledge is being honored by the ancients, who have excelled almost in every field of the study.

Choosing a good educational institution for your child?
The major reason why a school is regarded as a significant part of a child's growth is that it gives high precedence to enhancing young children's social development. This is so because social behaviourism and interaction of a human child begins in the early years.

Put briefly, it is appropriate to introduce your child with the regular and formal rules or terms of living in a society in educational institutes like school.

Higher education encourages the growth and development of students -- personally, professionally, and academically. That all sounds great, but students want to know: Which majors get jobs? Check out our list of the five most practical college college majors.

1. Computer Science
Pro: Computers are everywhere. There is a need for computer engineers in every area of every industry. That makes computer science one of the most useful degrees out there. Typically these highly technical positions also are a great return on investment, with some of the highest incomes in the country in all career fields.
Con: Long, irregular hours and impersonal work typify many careers at the end of this major. In the words of an anonymous IT engineer, "High paying work, yeah; high-paying, steady, soul-crushing work."

2. Biochemistry
Pro: Biochemistry studies the chemical composition of living things. Currently this is a high growth, high income field. In addition to a median annual income of over $100,000, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that biological sciences should see about a 21 percent occupational growth rate over 2008-2018.
Con: With a small employment base, this field is very competitive. Additionally, education up to a PhD is often necessary.
3. Business
Pro: Business education, like an MBA, has long been considered one of the most useful college majors. Let's face it, business is money. If you're in it for the money, self-motivated, and aggressive, this could be the major for you. Part politics and part economics, this major teaches you the analytical and team skills employers look for in the business world.
Con: This field is highly competitive. In 2008, there were over 155,000 MBAs awarded, so it can be hard to make yourself stand out from the herd. MBAs may be best for individuals who are already employed and looking for career advancement.
4. Education
Pro: With baby-boomers retiring and their grandchildren swelling the ranks of schools at every level, there should be no shortage of available positions for qualified educators, administrators, and support staff. Teaching in a subject field of your interest can lead to personal rewards and satisfaction unheard of in other careers. Also: summer breaks!
Con: The personal rewards must be expensive, because education is not the most lucrative career. Teachers may also need to double major in college--one major in education and the other in the area you want to teach.

5. Nursing
Pro: Another field with an increased need for qualified individuals and better than average pay, nursing is one of the most useful majors. With any number of specialties and levels of advancement, nursing is a great opportunity to leave you open to many people-oriented career options.
Con: The hours can be long and erratic, and nurses definitely need to be willing to get down and dirty. Regular continued education, training, and certification is necessary to stay licensed.

Not only do you need to know what education is required but also what you should know about yourself. First is your educational background. Not every nursing program will require the same things so after you pick the program you want find out what they specifically ask for. In general you will need a high school diploma.
The higher your grade point averages the better your chances to get in the school of your choice. Most schools like to see 2 - 4 years of science and math, 2 years of a health related class, language studies, and computer classes.

If nursing is your plan heading into high school your guidance counselor can help arrange these. Once you have picked a nursing program get information on any further pre-requisite courses. Next is what you should know about yourself. Excellent nursing school tips for this include knowing why you want to be a nurse.
Do you have good health yourself? Being very good at time management, and learning math and science easily will help a lot both with studies and when you start your nursing career. Having patience is important as well as having physical dexterity
.
You will be lifting and moving patients and need to have the strength and calmness to do so. A big point to consider is any criminal record. Many nursing programs don't like to even see driving under the influence on your record. Keep all these nursing school tips in mind and you should be all set.
The problem with study is that it can be daunting to a lot of people as they are not sure what practical techniques work.

Here are 10 study tips to help you succeed:

1 - Get organized - Being organized to study will help keep you focused and on track without wasting time looking for materials such as text books or even a pencil sharpener.

2- Stay focused on the job - Often before you try to start studying you have a million things going through your mind. These "things" will be a major distraction while you are trying to study. A great little trick to get these things off your mind is to write them down in a note book to clear your mind. Now when you finish studying you know exactly what you were thinking about so you can pick up where you left off when you wrote them down.

3 - Find your Space - The most important step in being successful in studying is finding "your space". Everyone is different and we all learn at our best in different environments, the secret is to find that space quickly. Some points you may wish to consider for your study space may include:
- Do you study better in silence or with background music?
- Do you study better in a group or by yourself?
- Is studying at home, school, Uni, Tafe or in a library the best location to offer minimal distractions?

4 - Motivation - The majority of us really don't like to study. A good way to get motivated to study is to think of the outcome and what it will mean to the outcome if you do well in your study. Keeping the long term results in mind will help keep you motivated to study instead of going out and partying with your friends.

5 - Timetable your study - Create a timetable for your study. This will give your time structure and help you reduce and illuminate wasting time.

6 - Know how you absorb information - Everyone learns differently, the secret is to know how you absorb the most information quickly and easily. Some forms of learning include:

- Audio - using audio to listen and learn. If this works for you a good technique is to write down the important notes from your study material and then record your notes so you can listen to them via your MP3 player.

- Visual - Visual learners use pictures, colors and diagrams to learn. Try using different color highlighters when highlighting important aspects of your notes. Other techniques include relating images to notes or remembering notes by placing them into diagrams.

- Kinesthetic - Learning by kinaesthetic is learning by doing. Role playing or building models to remember key points are great ways for kinaesthetic learning.

7 - Take notes - When you are studying take detailed along the way on important points. This will save time later and help you get a better idea of the concept. Adding real life examples to you notes will also help you apply what you are trying to

8 - Your own study material - Creating your own study materials such as flash cards and exam questions is a great way to learn. This technique actually allows you to learn the material twice, once when you create the materials and secondly when you use them for study.

9 - Testing - Getting a friend or family member to test you on key points will give you an understanding of your knowledge on a topic. This will allow you to pinpoint areas that you need to further study and areas that you have a good grasp on.

10 - Need a break? Take one! Take a break - You will learn better when you are feeling rested and refreshed so it is advisable to take a break from time to time. Sometimes it will only need to be an hour to get some fresh air, other times it may be a few days. Take the time off to revitalize your mind and body and refocus.

Remember these are general tips, the best thing you can do is to find your own study strategies that will work for you and you will find that your study time will produce better results.

The competition rises in high school and then into college. In Law School is when the competition reaches a level that could be deemed to be unhealthy. The main human issue within the study group was a dynamic of extreme competition. In law school the students are ranked first to last with their fellow classmates. In order to find good employment with a top law firm you must rank high with respectable marks.

Hart had a sloppy appearance about himself so when receiving advice he was told, "You think I'm kidding? You think I'd joke about grades? You try getting a job if you don't have them. Either you've got to look right, or you've got to have the grades."

This is the typical of law students but it is not necessarily healthy or conducive to helping others improve around you. It was the main problem with Hart's small group. With each member of the group responsible for a different course some had trouble living up to the others expectations. When people started to miss their meetings the others began to talk behind their backs. It got to the point where certain members of the group were threatening to withhold their outlines from other members.

Bell in particular thought his outline was worthy of publishing and even better than the course material itself. Bell threatened "I mean, this is a good outline, and if yours don't stack up, maybe you won't get a chance to look at it." There is an overwhelming sense of individualism within the group as they are trying to threaten each other's progress. This study group is a stark contrast to what a team looks like that is committed to each other. None of the members except for Hart had made a commitment to the success of the group and because of this there were some definite failures.

The mentality of the group can be described here, "No one asked about theories they'd learned. It was always: "Can you give the facts of..." "Can you tell me the page number of..."" This theme of using one another is ironic because of the way they all got so protective over their personal work. This often becomes the case when students are competing at such a high level.

If you can, begin visiting colleges the summer between your child's sophomore and junior year of high school. Because high school grades are so important, especially for your junior year, you may consider limiting your visits during that time.
Once junior year is complete, try to finish your first round of college visits that summer. During that summer, consider incorporating a weekend trip or vacation around some college visits.

GATHERING CREDENTIALS
Credentials are important too. If your son was a camp counselor or an assistant camp counselor, consider getting a recommendation. Recommendations could come from current or past employers in middle or high school. What about extracurricular activities for your daughter? Maybe a recommendation from a middle or high school staff member? My daughter was involved in girl scouts for 13 years so she utilized those contacts for recommendations to help market herself in a favorable light. In addition, her Gold Award achieve through Girl Scouts also adds to her credentials.

The summer between my daughter's sophomore and junior year was invaluable. She was able to volunteer a number of times which helped her acquire valuable experience and credentials. She also studied for her ACT and also had time to take driver's education.

ACT OR SAT TEST ANXIETY
If your child struggles with test taking, consider taking the ACT or SAT more than once. Some high schools give the test the spring semester of their junior year but before the official test, students could take it one or two times. Consider taking it the summer before your junior year to provide feedback and a valuable baseline. If the student does well with reading and writing but struggles with math, the tutor can focus primarily on that weak area to overall improve the ACT or SAT score.

SENIOR YEAR IS IMPORTANT TOO
Even though many universities focus on the first three years of a four year high school, students need to be careful not to "get lazy" and lose focus their senior year. I've heard situations where students were initially admitted into their "dream university" only to see it lost when they did poorly their senior year. High school admission counselors say most universities don't focus on the last year of high school unless the student grades significantly trend in the downward direction.

On your college applications, for your senior year, you need to include what you're taking for both semesters. If student drops a class, let the university know through written communication. Senior year, students should be conscious not "slack" and take easy curriculum. From what I've ready, colleges and universities wants to know students' curriculum is challenging for all four years.

CONSIDER THE ENTIRE PICTURE
When you consider private versus public institutions, be certain to gather all the facts before you lean in one direction or the other. Your child may be interested in a private school although the price tag may be $35,000 per year, making it less attractive but be sure to factor in everything. However, they may qualify for a $10,000 annual scholarship, so the $35,000 per year college becomes more attractive at $25,000.

The contrast is a public institution like University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. Even though it's a public institution, the total tuition will be in the neighborhood of $30,000 annually. Considering the fiscal situation with the State of Illinois, that tuition will not level off any time soon. Also factor in that most students will not qualify for any scholarship money, so receiving scholarships at a private institution needs to be carefully considered to determine total out of pocket costs.
In fact, in an unsteady economic climate where even large corporations are tightening their belts in many other areas, advertising budgets seem to be on the increase, while every possible means of generating new business or maintaining a stronghold in the marketplace is being thoroughly explored.

In the highly competitive world of advertising, college graduates with solid training, a high level of creativity and good communication skills will generally always have the best job opportunities. However, in today's rapidly evolving market, those who also posses strong computer and web knowledge will undoubtedly have the competitive edge.

With the unprecedented growth of internet marketing, employers will be consistently and increasingly seeking candidates who have the skills to create new types of advertising, marketing and sales campaigns involving a range of new media, particularly those utilising the internet. Social networking, live streaming, i-phone apps and a range of new developments in industry and technology are constantly widening the field of possibility for daring and visionary professionals, who also have a solid background in advertising principles. For a truly creative person with a dream of becoming an innovative and persuasive force to be reckoned with, the world of advertising has never looked more promising.

The range of subjects now covered by the general advertising umbrella include: marketing, sales, copy-writing, PR, online marketing, direct marketing, corporate branding, communications, sales promotion, publicity, trade shows and market research - to name a few - and experience in these areas often provides excellent preparation for candidates at entry level, before landing that first position as a project manager or creative director, forming exciting concepts and working with other creatives to bring their own advertising visions to fruition.

Principally a creative vocation within the commercial arena, advertising stretches its reach of influence across all industries and offers opportunities to the creative graduate as well as the more ambitious and commercially minded. A constant and growing pool of employment opportunities for account executives, creative directors, strategic planners, assistant directors, copywriters, media planners, art directors, account planners, salespeople, brand strategists, strategic planners, buyers, managers, and researchers make this a varied, enduring and satisfying career.
If you are headed off to college or you are the parent of a college-aged student, there are a lot of things you need to know to enjoy a successful college career. Some of these lessons will help put their minds at ease as they go through a stressful and exciting transition. Other lessons will save them a great deal of money and heartache if they know what to expect in advance. Many students borrow money to attend school and it may be the first time they have used borrowed money to pay for something. It can be scary borrowing money and feeling like you are in debt. Make sure your child is included in decisions about their financial aid and their student loans. A federal direct student loan can help you pay for your higher education. Understand that this money must be paid back but it will not be due until you have completed your education.

College students will be on their own without parental supervision for the first time. This may not be a big deal to some kids, but other kids will be overwhelmed with their newly found freedom. While they are able to enjoy this new freedom, they need to understand it comes with added responsibility. Hopefully, they will ease into their college life of freedom slowly and not forget their responsibilities.

While borrowing will help kids afford school, they may also need to get a part-time job to help them make ends meet. Some kids do not expect to work while in college and they may have had no experience balancing work and school during high school. If your child is going to need a part-time job while attending college, work with them to find something that fits their schedule. Sometimes they can participate in work-study programs and find employment on their college campus. Regardless of what they choose to do, support them in balancing their new college schedule and a work schedule.

Managing time in college is especially challenging for students. For most kids, high school is a very structured environment. They attend class all day, participate in after school activities and study during their free time. However, once they reach college, their schedule will have gaps during the day, be different from day-to-day and eventually, change at the end of a semester. Balancing study time with class time and socializing can be a challenge to kids who are just starting college.

Finally, kids have to learn to trust their judgment. They will be meeting new people in college and be exposed to new situations. While most of the things kids do in college are fun and they should be doing their best to enjoy their youth, they also need to realize not everyone is looking out for their best interest. College is a time to learn life lessons, but kids should be careful not to expose themselves to any dangerous situations that will leave lifetime scars.

Stewart Wrighter recently spent time researching student loans. His son is going to apply for a federal direct student loan.
Even in cases of students from other parts of the world like India, China and for that matter any country on this Earth, students always try for better universities first. Private universities and other privately funded institutions are always the last option of local and international students.

Even with so many exchange programs and scholarships, it is very difficult to get into any of the top ranked universities of United States. Magazines, forums and other discussions often refer the set of top ranked universities as the 'educational cream.'

Continuing with the discussion about top ranked universities, it is very important to understand how the universities are classified. Apart from educational independent agencies, educational mentors, magazines and internet based blogs, one other medium's ranking is important. This medium is often called as college directory or university based index.

Factors which normally form the set of criteria while ranking schools, colleges and universities are as follows:

Educational facilities

General feedback

Apart from this, how an institution adapts to latest technology and other aspects is taken into consideration.
What Does a College Directory Provide?
It is a place where you get information, updates, news, reviews and articles about educational courses, certifications, career aspects, salary projections and anything & everything about education and careers.

Not many people are aware that university ranking is done for all types of education formats: regular, part time, short term certification, online education, distance learning and even continuing education formats. The set of criteria can get altered to some extent, but broader aspects remain the same.

Even when students do an online university degree search, their first area of focus are the top ranked colleges. While doing so for online programs, this becomes very important because unlike regular courses, there aren't many companies which prefer online degrees from colleges which are unheard of.

Lastly, the most important aspect is that these rankings change with time, so make sure you are updated with latest news to understand which campus is currently the favorite of national merit scholars.

While searching for top ranked universities or even while doing an online university degree search, you need to take suggestions from multiple information channels. This way you get to understand your education and career aspects better.
This all important decision should not be left until the last moment but requires considerable time, thought, and research. When you consider the fact that three to four years of your child's life plus an investment of thousands of dollars into his/her education is required, it is prudent to get involved as a parent.

So how do you ensure that you're making the right decision?

The first thing that parents need to do is know your child. You should know what his interests and gifting are. If your child loves the Arts, then you cannot be, or should not be forcing him to pursue the Sciences. You should also know whether or not your teen works best independently or in a group setting; or whether he learns better in a small classroom setting. Is your teen easily distracted and lacks self-discipline or is he focused and disciplined? All these factors will play a major part in your choice of college or university.

Secondly, much research has to be done on the programs that your child is interested in and compare and contrast each college/university's offering of that program. Which ones are best geared towards his career goals and which subjects are a better fit for what he's interested in.

Thirdly, cost is usually a significant factor in coming to a decision. Therefore, after narrowing the choices down based on the first two factors, you must compare the cost of your child studying at one particular college as against another. In addition to tuition, your finances will determine whether or not your child can attend a local college/university or one away from home. Can he attend the more expensive Ivy League university or will it be more affordable for him to attend an equally reputable but less expensive one?

Fourthly, it is also a good thing to consider campus spirit as you'd want your teen to enjoy campus life. What clubs does each university/college offer and what opportunities are there for self-development or for community service?

Lastly, it is good to visit the various campuses and get a feel of the environment in which your teen will be. On campus tours, you'll meet professors and lecturers and hear directly from them on their accessibility.

This is indeed one of the most exciting times in a parents and teens life and after all the research is done, both parties should feel comfortable and happy with the decision made.

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

College campus life can feel overwhelming. When faced with a dizzying array of parties, activities and people, it can feel hard to get involved. However, taking an active role in campus life can help you have a good college experience.

Steps

Get to know people . Randomly strike up conversations in the cafeteria line, at a party, or one of your classes. These people can introduce you to new experiences, ideas, and activities.

Your roommate can be another social outlet. Get to know each other's friends.

Organize social activities such as an outing with your floormates.

Join one or two activities you care about . If you can't find a club that suits your particular interests, start one!

Do community service . It's fulfilling, plus you get to know other students. Go on a Habitat for Humanity build, clean up a river, or teach English to recent immigrants -- the possibilities are endless.

Show enthusiasm in classes . You'll gain more from the classroom experience, and can meet other people who care about the same subjects.

Tips

Don't be shy. Clubs and service groups are always happy for new, enthusiastic members.

Internships can be another way to get involved.

If you see someone with his/her schedule in hand and it looks as if he/she is trying to figure out where to go next, walk up to him/her and say, "Are you looking for a class?" Most likely, the answer will be 'yes' and you'll be remembered for your kind action.

Warnings

Don't over schedule yourself in an effort to be involved. You'll be happier if you pick one or two commitments you truly care about.

I often ask myself that question. One observation that i have made during my years on earth is that a lot of the sicknesses and ailments that people encounter from time to time are all due to improper mental and physical health. In other words, most could have been avoided if people were more health concious. Many of these e.g. (Type II diabetes, some types of cancers, common colds and flu and many many other types of illnesses)are really self inflicted. In other words, if people were more concerned about the state of their health and well being, these sicknesses could have been avoided. I also believe that most of these sicknesses can either be cured or treated using naturopathic medecine.

<script type="text/javascript"
"The prime minister's decision to authorise the minister of justice to sign the authority to proceed has only come about as a desperate attempt to rescue his political career and perpetuate him in the Office of Prime Minister."

The party maintained that the prime minister should resign "due to his pattern of persistent evasiveness, deception and betrayal of public trust" which has escalated the row between Jamaica and its northern neighbour, the United States.

"Up to now, the nation is not aware of what the prime minister is to be forgiven for since he has failed to come clean and lay out fully what he has done," the Opposition added.

The PNP said Golding's statements last night did not address accusations of doubletalk - first in March when he said the Government was not involved in dealings with US law firm Manatt, Phelps & Phillips and last Tuesday when he admitted that he sanctioned it as party leader.

"All the questions which existed last night remain unanswered and unresolved."
<script type="text/javascript"
