What WoF Means to Me

Where can I possibly start? I'll start from the beginning..I am a National Guard wife. We are from Northern Kentucky. I won't say that this area isn't supportive of the Military--but I wouldn't say that it is. When people see my husband, brother, or brother in law in their ACU's, dress blues, they are:

A. Stared at
B. Ignored
C. Thanked for their service

Service members are the minority in this area I would say. Even though we do have a couple armories in our immediate area it seems to be kept behind the scenes.

With all that being said I felt like a minority as a "military wife". My friends didn't understand, I got a bunch of "How do you do it?" "I would never want my husband to leave for that long." "How can he leave Raelynn for that long?" "Do you cry a lot?" "Does Rae miss him?" I understand their concerns, and maybe I would think that same thing if I were in their shoes, but I was having a disconnect with them and I knew I needed to find some ladies that REALLY understood. My husbands unit is an hour and half away so I never attended the FRG meetings, and was not really able to get involved. I was feeling pretty alone. So there I was with no one that really understood what I was going through. Through Basic training I had armywivesforums.com which was great. I had some ladies there that really helped me with basic questions, but I was lacking what I really needed...Christian Military Wives. Like me. Who had my same FAITH.

So I thought...hey google...Let me use you...."Christian Military Wives" I typed...and about three links or so down I found WIVES OF FAITH. I liked what I saw.

I joined right around the time they were in need of some CareBlast assistants/leaders and also Girls Night Out was their event that was happening at the time. I was so excited and attended the local event in Cincinnati! I was stoked they had one near me! It turned out that there was only one girl there, but we had so much in common. To this day we are great friends! I could not be more thankful to have such a wonderful lady in my life! Since then I have met some of the most kind, considerate, faith seeking ladies that I look up to and we can learn and grow together! Our local group has been such a blessing and we try to get together as often as possible! Most of us have kiddos so we have play dates and we have already had two bible studies thus far.

I am so thankful for Wives of Faith and for all the blessings and opportunities it has brought to me. I started out as the CareBlast assistant and about a year later I started serving as the CareBlast Coordinator, I am now on the WivesofFaith Leadership Team. I can simply not express all the great things WoF has to offer and all the cool things God has made happen through it all! This has been my connection and strong hold through some tough times in my life! We are blessed with some amazing ladies within this ministry and I feel overwhelmed and overjoyed to be apart of such an amazing fellowship!

Reminder--Take pictures of your own family!

Sometimes you just gotta have those days where you remember to put your kid in a cute outfit and take some photos of them! As a photographer you prep and get your camera ready for sessions that don't include your immediate family. As much as I love doing so, I need to remind myself to utilize my camera for my family and not just others! After all these are pictures and moments we will never get back and may not even remember if it weren't for photographs! Why do you think photo sessions can be costly? We are providing a craft and we are capturing memories you will never get back! Its irreplaceable! :)

Christmas Popcorn Tin Makeover.

Don't throw away those Christmas popcorn tins once you're done with them! Repurpose them! I choose to use burlap instead of paint or duct tape. The pattern on the tin would show through if I used paint, and duct tape doesn't exactly wrap around smoothly since its not a flat surface.

All you need is:

-Hot temp glue gun

-Burlap in any size but I am using a jumbo roll you can find in flower department on hobby lobby.

-permanent marker

-lace of your choice

-When wrapping each burlap don't feel like you have to use hot glue EVERYWHERE. It's not necessary. Each wrap around needs about four solid holds with the hot glue.

-You can use a stencil to write whatever you want. I choose to use our anniversary year just to personalized it a little more. (Write on the burlap beforehand!!)

I choose black lace to go with my decor. But any color you choose whether it be antique white, white, black is great. And you can always change the lace as well. I choose to just tie it around the top and into a basic bow for an easy change when I got tired of the black.

Now what can you use it for? Anything!

A trash can--a pot for flowers or plants--storage bin--what have you! :)

Currently I am using mine for my craft trash bin. (I always end up with tons of papers access from cutting and random other trash crafting may cause.) This will be more pleasing to the eye rather then a grocery bag hanging on my chair :)

Military Wife--Everything Will Be Alright

Want to know what my day consisted of? Nah..me either.

Imma tell you anyways. :) DSW, Charming Charlies, New York&Co, Sephora. Yep. Damage was done. Why? Because I love to shop, but a more important reason I must say. More like a special occasion. My husbands homecoming from a 10 month long deployment!

Now I would like to tell you he will be home in a few days and he is back on US soil. Nah. Girls gotta prep. This one is prepping like 2 months in advance. I am getting antsy, nervous, hyped, excited, ecstatic, and super emotional. What us military wives go through is just plan crazy sometimes, but I LOVE IT! I get to feel crazy emotions that people don't go about having in "regular" day life.

I get to go without speaking to my husband not even a text for weeks at a time and know how it feels to get seemingly sweet love letters. I get a rush from the mailman or going to the post office to send a package with dora stickers all over it with a toddler hanging on my hip. I get to fall in love all over again when I will first set eyes on my hubby in "real" life not skype!

There are so many different things I do day in and day out that "civilian" families will never experience. I get to tackle independence! I know how to do simple maintenance on my car, dishwasher, laundry washer, and even know how to clean clogged shower drains. ( SHHHH..Don't tell my husband I can do these things)

I have come to find so much positive in all these so called negatives. Don't get me wrong, some days are down right tough! I break down, I cry, and that's okay! I have my God and Savior to fall back on and always talk to throughout all of this crazy mess! I simply do not know what I would do with out His peace and grace. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 AMEN!!

Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, "Lord, doesn't it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me." But the Lord said to her, "My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details"

Take out Martha and insert Leanne there. Yep, that'll do. Oh Martha, how you and I--and the ladies of today's world can and would be lying if they couldn't relate to a tee! (Let's be honest here.) The Lord must find us even more ridiculously silly now a days than before. We try to compete with today's materialistic world. i.e: reality TV shows, celebrities, keeping up with worldly trends, twitter and "pin" our ideal bodies, homes, and clothing like its our job. Our constant contact with people can be our best friend or our worst nightmare. Correct me if I am wrong, or it could just be me but we continually compare one another.

Ladies, lets take Jesus's advice and stop worry about all the small details! These are worldly distractions that can potentially make us lose sight of the big picture which should be trying our best to honor and glorify our Savior Jesus Christ. Let's pray the Lord will take these small details that are insignificant to His plan and banish them away. In Jesus's Name, Amen.

How did this army life come about?

"Letters from Home". "American Soldier". "I'm Already There". You name it, I loved american pride/soldier songs, and to be honest I didn't even care for Country music, but those songs always hit home with me. The funny thing is I never really knew why. My family did not come from a military background. I did not have any close family members that were soldiers, and quite frankly if you saw a soldier in uniform (it never happened) you would see everyone gawking at them because they were out of the ordinary in my town. Little did I know that these songs I listened to as an adolescent would follow me for the rest of my life and I would live out these songs like they were made specifically for my family....

I recall when my husband and I were only dating and we told each other everything...our hopes, fears, dreams, what we hoped would be our future etc. I remember one night vividly..We were at my apartment eating "Earl" (Corey likes to refer to the sinful ice cream he always brought over for a late night snack as "Earl" He is oh so weird) and he proceeds to tell me he always played with two things when he was a child, his gaming system and army men. Army men..hmmm...where is he going with this, I thought. "So, could you ever be with someone in the military?" asked my soon to be boyfriend. I didn't even think about my answer, I instantly blurted out. "I would rather not, I really don't think I could deal with my significant other being away while I was taking care of the family back at home.." .."Oh." and that was that. A year went by and nothing had been mentioned since.

Flash forward to the following year and a half. We found out some exciting news that we were going to have a baby in late February! Corey decided to swear into the Army National Guard in November 2010 and he was set to ship to BCT in Fort Sill, OK in the beginning of April. I was left with a ONE MONTH old for 4 months by myself and it wasn't the easiest thing I have ever done let me tell you that much! Raelynn Grace is now 16 months and we are facing our first deployment coming up this fall. I love this army life, it's crazy and unpredicatable, but I feel like it fits me and it's a great fit for our family. God has never let us down. This army life wasn't what I had envisioned my life to be like, but I wouldnt change it for the world!

My reasons as to why I love being a military wife:

The fact that I can proudly say I am married to a man who protects our country.
The support that I have found & the friends I would have never had otherwise.
The fact that I can afford to be a stay at home mother even if that is only financially allowed on deployments (National Guard)
Finding Wives of Faith These ladies have been such an encouragement to me!
Finding a local group in which I live in, proof that God has a hand in everything. (Check us out if you are near the area of cincinnati.)
The feelings of falling in love all over again!
Knowing that God had this plan for me all along!

Without HIM I do not believe I would be able to handle this lifestyle! It's not always easy & the times my husband is gone I can say that it is downright difficult! But it is worth all of it to me. I finally feel as though what I do matters and that I have found my calling. I have many other reasons that I could list and I am confident in saying that the good outweighs the bad!

Okay, so other then being filled with pride while I walk with my husband in his ACUS or dress blues... I would have to say that the BEST thing/moments in regards to being a military wife would have to be reuniting! How many people get to fall in love all over again? Or get those crazy butterflies in their stomach even after being married for years and haven't seen each other for a while?? We do as military wives! I wouldn't change it! I am a firm believer in absence making the heart grow fonder! You could say we know this all too well as military wives!

Surely I know I am not the first to write a review on this wonderful book titled "Love and Respect" By Dr. Emerson Eggerichs. The first few chapters had me sucked in and wondering if this book was specifically made for me. I think not only was it made for me but it was made for just about every marriage out there. The concept is brilliant and biblical as well! To sum this up take a look at this diagram...Doctor Eggerichs calls this the "Crazy Cycle" and until we realize what each spouse desires we will continue to have our go-around on this never ending cycle of doom.."the evil of folly and foolishness of madness." -Ecclesiastes 7:25

It all boils down to this^^^^^...Men want & require respect, as women want & require love. IT IS IN OUR BIBLICAL NATURE. Ephesians 5:33 puts that in to perspective for all of us. Paul writes. "Each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband."
You heard the key secret to a healthy marriage and both respect & the love must be UNCONDITIONAL. Just in case you want the definition to unconditional it goes as follows...without conditions or limitations. ABSOLUTE. Even if neither spouse is deserving of love or respect, you must give it UNCONDITIONALLY. Hard to swallow? It is for me too, but all in all it makes complete sense. We would all do well to follow our God's instructions! He knows whats best for us in every circumstance! :)

I struggle with anxiety and panic attacks myself. I was put on medication for them. I will be honest with you and will admit to the fact that I am on a low dose of Prozac daily, and I am also prescribed Ativan or Klonopin when those panic attacks hit. Knowing that I do have those "special" pills helps me to actually rarely ever need them, but I know if I do need them I will get the relief that I may need when I feel like I am dying and can't breath or my heart is going to pound out of my chest.

Now I have to say my anxiety and panic attacks were at their worse when I didn't quite have my life together. When I would say that I wasn't as close to God. Now do not get me wrong. If something goes south with one of my family members in regards to their health then yes I am more than likely to get those lovely panic attacks back, but I do know the source.

There are so many wonderful resources to go to when anxiety strikes. But your main source needs to be clinging to God. He knows what you are going through, and maybe just maybe something in your life isn't right and you may need to fix that. I know that's when my panic attacks were at their worse. When I had an uncertainty in my life so to speak. So you just found out your husband was deploying and you weren't expecting it? You just found out your closest grand mother is diagnosed with breast cancer..Those are examples when your anxiety just may creep back in. The devil uses those weak moments in our life to tear and break us down. DON'T let him. God is always in charge. He rescues the weak.

I pray that those that DO know you have the peace and reassurance that YOU'VE GOT THIS. You are in COMPLETE control. For those who do not know you Lord, I pray WE as your followers can touch the hearts of the lost. I know you love every single one of us Lord. You wouldn't have made the ultimate sacrifice if you had not! Use me Lord let me fulfill the plans you have for me! I am Yours and I want nothing more than to serve you. Be strategic--
Consider those around you who need Christ. Make a prayer list. Think of ways to approach them with the gospel. Reach out to them with friendship and seek to strengthen your relationship with them. Live a consistent life before them, demonstrating the hope that is within you.
Be resourceful--
Practice the way you verbalize the Gospel message. Memorize a scripture verse such as John 3:16 or Romans 6:23, and devise a simple way of explaining it. Think through how you would answer the question the jailer asked Paul in Acts 16:30. "What must I do to be saved?"
Be patient--
Plant a seed! When it comes to winning others to Christ, we are often links in a God-planned chain.
Psalm 126:6 "He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing shall doubtless come again with rejoicing bringing his sheaves with him.
Psalm 46:10 says "be still and know that I am God." That verse reveals our bottom line and our top priority. The bottom line is: He is God, Creator of the Universe, Sustainer of Eternity. Our top priority is being still long enough each day to know Him. At life's greatest moments or dullest days, prayer is the conductor that keeps our focus on God, who can do exceeding abundantly more than we can ask or imagine.

I am going out on a limb here and starting up something that I have been extremely passionate about since high school. Video making/editing/compiling. I took two years in Communications in high school and I loved it! I am working towards purchasing a macbook pro and I am so excited about the programming for editing videos! Why people don't do this stuff more often is the TIME it takes! People simply do not have time anymore! Its almost more convenient for them to pay someone to do it for their special occasion whether it be a wedding, anniversary, graduations, birthdays, family functions, funerals...you name it they have em! So I will do it for you! :) All I need is a folder with the pictures and your choice of songs! Whether you mail it to me by a flashdrive, CD, or an email and I'll take care of the songs as best as I can! :)

Tornadoes of 2012

Never thought I would personally see the day that mother nature tore through our county. Friday was a scary day. My brother lost his home along with hundreds of others across northern Kentucky, & Indiana. My heart breaks for those that have missing children and loved ones and pets. I am praying for all, but remembering that God is in control! Material things can be replaced. Family cannot. Let's pick up the pieces and start fresh. For He makes all things new. :)

Dr. Charles Stanley-How to stay on track with God.

I would have to agree with these nine steps that Dr. Stanley has lived by to keeping on track with God are wonderful. I am going to try my best to follow these. I feel as though they will benefit anyone who wants to lead a godly life.

1. Schedule prayer and meditation in God's word as a daily priority.
Psalm 1:1-3
"Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers."
2.Obey God, and leave all consequences to Him.
3. Trust God in every circumstance.
Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and he will make your paths straight."
4. Wait upon the Lord for His direction.
Psalm 27:14
"Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."
Isaiah 64:4
"Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for Him."
5. Depend upon the Holy Spirit, for the Holy Spirit is within us!
John 14:15-21

The world cannot accept Him, because it never sees him nor knows him but you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 6. Remember God loves you unconditionally!
7. Give to God generously--For look what he gave to us upon the cross!

"Created to Be His Help-meet"

"CREATED TO BE HIS HELP-MEET" -Debi Pearl

Although I am about half-way through this book I felt it necessary to summarize some of it thus far...First question I had when I read the title was, What in the world is a "Help-meet" I will give you the definition that was given in the book, a help-meet is a woman who helps her husband in any and all of his life's projects.

Let me forewarn you look no further if you are a strong feminist, or do not believe in stay-at-home-moms or being a homemaker. This book will not sit well with you, and I have to admit at some points of time I tend to disagree with some statements entirely, but that is the beauty of writing! I have taken away more good, than negative though! :)
Some characteristics and examples of what a help-meet would do are goes as follows:

Asks for Godly wisdom
learns to understand & appreciate her man for who HE IS.
Learns to be flexible
Plays the supportive role
Fears God
Believes God's word as it is written
Is obedient, submits, & holds reverence to her husband. When you hold those characteristics to your man, it's doing the same for God.

This book revolves around a particular scripture in Genesis. The one it primarily revolves around is Genesis 2:18 "The Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a HELPER, suitable for him." Thus where the author Debi comes up with "help-meet" I believe it is also written as that in several different versions of the bible. I was just giving you what my version had said. I read the Life Application Study Bible and I LOVE IT! The footnotes doing a break down of what the scriptures mean is amazing! I'll include a link of my bible I use here. God's work was not yet complete until he made the woman. We as women were made from Adams rib, He illustrated this for us that in marriage men and woman symbolically become one flesh. Marriage is a gift from God and a wonderful one at that. The desire for love and marriage was indeed God given!

Some of the bible verses she includes can be interpreted extremely different than how she sees it. Such as this one from 1 Timothy 2:11-15 (In this particular chapter of the bible it is Paul writing a letter to Timothy a pastor on topics such as qualifications for the church leaders, public worship, personal discipline, confronting false teaching, how to treat various groups within the same church.)

"A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not premit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; She must be silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was, and became a sinner. But women will be saved through childbearing--If they continue in faith, love, and holiness with propriety."

Now this scripture doesn't mean don't bother teaching anyone as a woman, God wants us to teach our children and other young women! He encourages us to do so!

Titus 2:3-4 "Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled."

These scriptures are telling us what our role is as a Woman of God. This is not including the mans role, but if I were..Their role is not that of a nurturer as the wives and mothers, but a functional one to their wife and children. Us as women, we are designed to be sensitive and vulnerable for the sake of our little ones we must nurture says Debi.

The bible encourages us to submit to our husband, but they must in return love us. Paul explains Husbands to love their wives, as Christ loved the church in the letter to the Ephesians.

I feel as though sometimes Debi leaves out the scripture before or after the chosen one she includes...For example..The scripture Ephesians 5:22 "Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord." Well, before that scripture it says "Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ." We as husband and wife are BOTH called to submit to Christ.

God calls for submission among equals. He did not make the man superior, he made a way for the man and woman to work together. Its a submission by choice and not by force. 1 Corinthians 11:3 is referring "head" to authority. As with the authority of Christ over the church, this is not the self-centered exercise of power but leadership that takes care to serve the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of the wife. " But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God."

I have to admit that at sometimes in this book I feel as though I am a woman just called to bow down to my husband smile and be cheerful when if he cheats and put him first before anything else, (not including God of course though, she makes that clear) so I struggle between taking in everything she says because sometimes it's over the top. (to me)

But I must admit, I like this book for a lot of reasons and have found it to be a blessing because it has got me digging into The Word and how to make my marriage better! I have looked more into the bible on what its take is on marriage and interpretations of these scriptures can be tricky. I hope as the book goes on there will be more clarification. This is my synopsis so far though. :) I'll get back to more later.
