From being blacklisted in the music industry to getting put on Young Jeezy’s CTE label and now doing it solo; Freddie Gibbs has kept it 100% real since his first project. First we got “Freddie Soprano” which gave us a nice taste of what’s to come and now we’ve got “Eastside Moonwalker” which came along with an amazing set of visuals. Gangsta Gibbs’s next project “ESGN” will be coming out July 9th and features an amazing set of artists including Problem, Jay Rock, Spice 1 and several others. The ZOMBiES released an advanced track from their upcoming project BetterOffDEAD titled “Palm Trees”, in the track they praise the amazing Mary while reminding us why we all loved their style in the first place. They’ve performed “Valentine” together with Dornik doing Sampha’s part but now we get a full delivery of his talent with his own new song “Something About You”. His true vocal talent shines in this amazing song that leaves you wondering if The Weeknd & Frank Ocean collaborated. This talented lad has this amazing track forthcoming on PMR Records which holds the strong roster of Disclosure, Julio Bashmore, Cyril Hahn and others. On Monday Fortune Sound Club had the huge announcement that we’re having Duke Dumont shake our walls July 26th. Today Jessie Andrews, the young and in my opinion unique porn star gives us an amazing remix to Duke’s smash single “Need U” through a great Noisey interview which you can check out here. All of her previous tracks made it quite clear that she can get just as dirty producing as in the porn industry, this girl can make a bangin’ track… no doubt about that. Not only does Jessie do porn but has her own Jewelry line (Bagatiba), models, fashion designs and DJ’s, she makes us all feel like we aren’t doing anything with our lives. This most recent remix was the cherry on the cake for me with her DJ/Production side of her life, she flips the track giving it more of a modern touch but still keeping the vibe that made the song so great in the first place. Unknown Mortal Orchestra (sometimes known as UMO) is one of those mysterious bands who seem to burst out of nowhere. One track appears on a blog and suddenly everyone wants more music. This is the situation that UMO songwriter Ruban Nielson found himself in.

Weird thing is… Ruban had given up making music.

I called Ruban one late night and he told me the incredible story of how he went from being an ex-punk rocker, turned film intern at an Oregon production company to the frontman for one of Portland’s most hyped bands.

Giraffage is the creation of 23-year old San Francisco based producer Charlie Yin. He will be at Fortune Sound Club with Mister Lies on Tuesday July 25th with Noble Oak + 8PRN. Giraffage is making energetic, turnt up (and turnt d o w n), manipulated, pos vibed out beats for all the kids and their kin. He’s sample heavy, so if you missed the Kaytranada show – WHICH SOLD OUT - then don’t sleep on this one. He finished a European tour with XXYYXX, and is now beginning the North American leg, and we are so stoked to have him.

A young talent from Maryland will be hitting the stage at Fortune for the first time this Friday. The 23 year old rapper has made waves this year by making the XXL Freshman class of 2013, and releasing an awesome mixtape titled Young Sinatra: Welcome to forever (get it here). The content of the mixtape blew me away, the rapping and production are on point which isn’t surprising considering heavyweight producers such as NO I.D. Key Wayne, Don Cannon and others contributed to it. As of April 15th Logic has signed with Def Jam, and I’d bet that we’re going to to be hearing much more from this dude in the future so catch him early! (Literally, it’s an early show)
