Courtesan living with a Man as his Wife:
W hen a courtesan is living as a wife with her lover, she should behave like a chaste woman, and do everything to his satisfaction. Her duty in this respect, in short, is, that she should give him pleasure, but should not become attached to him, though behaving as if she were really attached. Now the following is the manner in which she is to conduct herself, so as to accomplish the above mentioned purpose. She should have a mother dependent on her, one who should be represented as very harsh, and who looked upon money as her chief object in life. In the event of there being no mother, then an old and confidential nurse should play the same role. The mother or nurse, on their part, should appear to be displeased with the lover, and forcibly take her away from him. The woman herself should always show pretended anger, dejection, fear, and shame on this account, but should not disobey the mother or nurse at any time.

Of the Means of getting Money;
of the Signs of a Lover who is beginning to be Weary, and of the way to get rid of him M oney is got out of a lover in two ways: By natural or lawful means, and by artifices. Old authors are of opinion that when a courtesan can get as much money as she wants from her lover, she should not make use of artifice. But Vatsyayana lays down that though she may get some money from him by natural means, yet when she makes use of artifice he gives her doubly more, and therefore artifice should be resorted to for the purpose of extorting money from him at all events. Now the artifices to be used for getting money from her lover are as follows:
q Taking money from him on different occasions, for the purpose of purchasing various articles, such as ornaments, food, drink, flowers, perfumes and clothes, and either not buying them, or getting from him more than their cost. q Praising his intelligence to his face. q Pretending to be obliged to make gifts on occasion of festivals connected with vows, trees, gardens, temples, or tanks.1 q Pretending that at the time of going to his house, her jewels have been stolen either by the king's guards, or by robbers. q Alleging that her property has been destroyed by fire, by the falling of her house, or by the carelessness of her servants. q Pretending to have lost the ornaments of her lover along with her own. q Causing him to hear through other people of the expenses incurred by her in coming to see him. q Contracting debts for the sake of her lover. q Disputing with her mother on account of some expense incurred by her for her lover, and which was not approved of by her mother. q Not going to parties and festivities in the houses of her friends for the want of presents to make to them, she having previously informed her lover of the valuable presents given to her by these very friends. q Not performing certain festive rites under the pretence that she has no money to perform them with. q Engaging artists to do something for her lover. q Entertaining physicians and ministers for the purpose of attaining some object. q Assisting friends and benefactors both on festive occasions, and in misfortune. q Performing household rites. q Having to pay the expenses of the ceremony of marriage of the son of a female friend. q Having to satisfy curious wishes including her state of pregnancy. q Pretending to be ill, and charging her cost of treatment. q Having to remove the troubles of a friend. q Selling some of her ornaments, so as to give her lover a present. q Pretending to sell some of her ornaments, furniture, or cooking utensils to a trader, who has been already tutored how to behave in the matter. q Having to buy cooking utensils of greater value than those of other people, so that they might be more easily distinguished, and not changed for others of an inferior description. q Remembering the former favours of her lover, and causing them always to be spoken of by her friends and followers. q Informing her lover of the great gains of other courtesans. q Describing before them, and in the presence of her lover, her own great gains, and making them out to be greater even than theirs, though such may not have been really the case.

BE AWARE OF DRUGS

Praise be to Allah, the God who permits the good things. Those are food, beverage and fragrances. He expressly prohibits us to consume something that nauseating, intoxicating and destructing mind. I bear witness that there is no God, but Allah who knows everything which are good for the human soul and the physics as well. I also witness that Muhammad is His servant and His messenger who prohibits us to consume everything that makes us intoxicated and fly and swing. May mercy of Allah be upon our prophet Muhammad (PBUH), his family and all of his disciples. They are those who provide their body with good foods and beverages. Their spirit and mind were enlightened by the sacred book. Amma Ba’du.

Allah said in the glorious Qur’an:

“O ye who believe! Eat of the good things that we have provided for you, and be grateful to Allah, if it is Him ye worship.”(Al-Baqoroh: 172)

Another decree of His says:

“say: the things that My Lord hath indeed forbidden are: shameful deeds, whether open or secret; sins and trespasses against truth or reason; assigning of partners to Allah, for which He hath given no authority; and saying things about Allah of which ye have no knowledge.”(Al-A’raf: 33)

In a chronicle of Ummu Salamah, it is told that the messenger (PBUH) forbids us from consuming anything intoxicating and caused us losing mind.

Dear my brothers and sisters,

In truth, Allah will not see the good things except He permits us to consume, will not see shameful deeds except He forbids us from talking them. This is the law of Allah, why so? It is because Allah wishes goodness for us and does not wish for our damage. He wishes usefulness for us and not destruction. Therefore, each Muslim must consume the good things and must not approach the forbidden things.

Dear my brothers and sisters in faith and religion,

Is it fitting that a young man who claims to be a Muslim, but enjoy the forbidden things? Is it fair that a young man who claims to believe the truth of the Qur’an, then suck Marijuana and cocaine? Is it fitting that a young man who claims to follow the model set by the messenger but still consumes opium and heroin? Is it permitted a young man who claims to believe the lessons of Allah but still consumes intoxicating and forbidden drugs?

O’ the Muslim youngster, you all are the ideal of the Muslim that’s why don’t ever be a group of insurgents.

O’ the faithful knight, all of you are the hope of the believers. Do not be the murders of your selves. If you become drunks and drugs addict, Allah will certainly send a killer brigade in the form of various killing diseases. This cruel brigade holds firmly and weakness your body, then takes away your common sense, ruins your property and then takes away your life.

O’ the smokers of Marijuana and cocaine, will you have heads without reason, skulls without brain, faces without nose, skin without beauty, hands without wealth and body without spirit?

O’ the smokers of opium and cocaine, are you happy to be a poor man who sinks in evil deeds after a rich man who is smeared with the forbidden things?

O’ people who drinks alcohol and consume the forbidden drugs, are happy to go too far from the boundary then sell your house where you and your family live, such that you now eventually live under bridges? Are you willing to sit day dreaming like absent minded people, together with the drug addicts and then selling your clothes and other valuable goods? Once more, never do that.

O’ the young the hope of Islam, don’t be a corpse before you die, don’t kill yourselves and don’t kill others. If killing is a very cruel crime, then taking opium and heroin are more cruel crime and sadist, although what is killed is the soul. If a suicide is verdict as an evil crime, then smoking marijuana and heroin is more evil suicide. Though, the process is in stages.

Dear brothers and sisters,

How many drunkards who believe that strong alcohol can withdraw confusion. How many numbers of drug addicts feel that marijuana, heroin and any sort of both can encourage nice senses, such that they make night seem to be very comfortable swimming in the voluptuous feeling. They do not feel that they are sinking in a forbidden action and they gradually stab their own body, destruct morality, and destroy the aims of their lives and they live in the grave of alive people. Swear by God that evil actions are really alive tortures in the world and the tortures in the hereafter are much more dreadful. Imam Ahmad and Ibnu Majah told a chronicle from Ibnu Abbas r.a. who said that the messenger said,

“Don’t endanger your selves and others.”

THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE YOUTH TOWARD THEIR SOCIETY

We praise you Allah who asks us to the right direction and give us guidance. You direct us to the best direction. We bear witness that there is no God but Allah, there is no partner with Him. He guides us to the path of Islam on which there are goodness of the world and hereafter. We also bear witness at Muhammad as His devotee and His messenger. He is the best man who guided his people to their good with wisdom, expertise and good advice. May peace and blessing be upon the chosen creature, namely our leader Muhammad along with his compassion and the people who follow him well until the Day of Judgment.

Amma Ba’du.

Allah said in His sacred book:

“We narrate unto You (O Muhammad ) their story with truth: Truly! they were young men who believed In their Lord (Allâh), and we increased them In Guidance. And we made their hearts firm and strong (with the light of faith In Allâh and bestowed upon them patience to bear the separation of their kith and kin and dwellings, etc.) when they stood up and said: "Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, never shall we call upon any Ilâh (God) other than him; if we did, we should indeed have uttered an enormity In disbelief.”( Al-Qur’an: 13-14)

O’ the young Muslims,

Islam is a salvation religion. It salvages human being from any forms of deficiency, asks the people to build a society that is free from any illness.

How to build a Muslim society complies with Islamic values?

Know! A Muslim society is a strong society. The basis of society is brotherhood and helping each other. Its pillars are the spiritual power and the capability to implement good value. Therefore, the messenger directed Islam to realize the goodness. Firstly is the happiness for personal life, then happiness in family life and finally happiness in society life.

Thus, Islam gives deep attention to familial education and its members. Know! Family is the first and prim element for the formation of a society. No society when there is no groups of family that are bounded in certain social rules. If the familial elements are good the society is also good. If the familial elements are bad, then the society is bad. That is why Islam gives deep consideration to the familial life. Islam has worked hard to build the unity of families and strengthened its building, educated the familial members with love, endearment and noble Islam characters.

O’ the young Muslims who believers,

Know! The youth is the one of important elements of a family. They are the spirit of a family who are always enthusiastic. Their bloods always boil, their muscles are strong. In society, the youth are the heart that continuously beats. They are always optimistic. In every revolution, the youth is the most important element to gain success in every movement. They are the expected power.

Know! On the shoulders of the youth the burden of responsibility resides. By their support the important programs can be implemented. By their thought an advance culture can be spread out. By their strong-will, the freedom can be established and the Muslim position can be laid in a high place.

O’ the young Mujaheed,

If the youth are the spirit of the family, the youth must have strong belief. If the youth are the heart of a society, the youth must be honest and dependable. If the youth are the important agents for the success of a goal, they must know the time and use it well. If the youth are the ones who have responsibility to bear a big burden, they must have strong and healthy body. If the youth are the main support for the execution of any project, they must be skillful and deft. If the youth are the pillars of chosen people, they must have the awareness of Islam.

How come the youth can develop their society when they are the people with weak beliefs, their hearts are always hesitant, their brains often get confused and they fall into consuming drug?

How come they build a Muslim community when they continuously do immortality?

O’ the young Mujaheed,

You must be careful and must always remember the danger of the prohibited drugs. If you want to build a Muslim community which is free from any social illness and deficiencies, you must obey Allah and His messenger. Contemplating the saying of Imam Ali r.a. He said:

It’s not a man who says, “here is my father”, a man is the one who says, “here is me.”

Remember as well what had been said by Imam Syafii:“The young men today are the leaders of the future”.

Be afraid of Allah. Promise and train yourself about leadership. Be a good model for the people by showing your noble characters and sacrifices until Allah gives us happiness and nobility for our nation. It is Allah who had shown us the straight path.

ISRA’ AND MI’RAJ

Praise be to Allah, the God who perpetuates His servant with isra’ and mi’raj. He perpetuates it by making this story as the great miracle. I bear witness that there is no God but Allah, there is no partner with Him. I also bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His messenger. May peace and prayers be upon our adoration Muhammad, his family and all of his disciples. Amma Ba’du.

Allah said in His noble sacred book,

"Glory to ((Allah)) who did take His servant for a journey by night from the sacred Mosque to the farthest Mosque, whose precincts we did bless,- In order that we might Show Him some of Our Signs: for He is the one who heareth and seeth (All things)".(Al-Isra’: 1).

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, my brothers and sisters in faith and religion,

The event of isra’ mi’raj is one of the miracles of our prophet (PBUH). Allah honors our great prophet deeply with this miracle when he experienced painful and frightening luck. At that time, the disbelievers tortured the messenger with the smartest tortures, interfered with his missionary endeavor by employing various manners, sheltered his followers and disciples. All of these painful suffering took its climax after his uncle and his wife passed away. Abu Thalib, the messenger’s uncle who used to protect Islamic endeavor, and Khodijah, the messenger’s wife who used to be his partner when he was suffering, passed away at mostly the same time. Certainly, it made the prophet sad very much. He was really sad with the demise of his two protectors. With the heavy hearted, he went to Thaifland in order to get new endorsement. He expected that in this new land he found people who would be ready to help his religious endeavor. Unfortunately, what he found was that the Thaif people suddenly pelted him with stones until his feet were bloody. He got more sad and confused for seeing the development of his mission. In his most confusion and sadness, Allah honored him deeply by taking him to have isra’- mi’raj. These two events were for affirming and calming down the messenger’s heart. Allah showered the messenger with mercy and dignity from sidratul muntaha. Beside it, there is heaven which is ready to be stayed. In sidratul muntaha, he saw the glory and the greatness of Allah, a view that could not be seen by anyone but the messenger. He got full of spirit and was really comforted with this journey which brought happiness.

Dear ladies and gentlemen, my brothers and sisters in faith and religion,

In the journey of isra’-mi’raj, he also witnessed many odd events which could be lessons for the Muslims. Among other things is what was told by Abu Hurairah r.a. that the messenger said that:

“At the night when I was taken to isra’, that was when I arrived at the seventh sky, I saw (an odd view). I saw upward, and suddenly I found thunder, flash of lightning and thunderbolt. I then came to a group of people whose stomachs were like a house containing snakes. The snakes could be seen from outside of their stomachs. I then asked, ‘O Jibril, who are they?’ He answered,’ they are people who used to eat usury.” This hadits was told by Imam Ahmad.

At that night, the messenger also witnessed other events in which you can find his narratives in the books of hadith.

Dear ladies and gentlemen, my brothers and sisters in faith and religion,

The event of isra’-mi’raj is purposeful and the real purpose is to bring the messenger to Allah, to receive His commandment to do five-time prayers. The value of the reward of these five-time prayers is similar to fifty five-time prayers as what was previously commanded. The messenger received this commandment directly from Allah to be delivered directly to the human kind. In Islam, prayer constitutes the pillar of religion and the media of contact between human and Allah. Besides, prayer can also cause a close relationship among the Muslims. Anywhere they are, the most important thing we have to know in this occasion is that isra’-mi’raj is the miracle of the messenger of the previous messengers. The miracles of the previous messengers were visible and could arise two different responses. Those are encouraging people to be believer or even disbelievers. In addition, the visible miracles can end when the events have been finished.

Meanwhile, the miracle of Muhammad (PBUH) is always alive and eternal. The eternity is valid for each generation and never lasting. Even more, this continuously experiences renewal all the time. It speaks to the reason and encourages it to think.

Dear ladies and gentlemen, my brothers and sisters in faith and religion,

Another important thing ought to be remembered is understanding the meaning of the mandatory of doing prayer. It means that by commemorating isra’-mi’raj the Muslims are asked to think and understand the meaning of the mandatory of doing prayer so that they will not keep away this commandment. They are also asked to penetrate the essence and the use of prayer so that they will not disobey it. It is prayer which can put the servant in contact with his God and which distinct the believers and the disbelievers. Allah said in His noble sacred book:

“and seek help In patience and As-Salât (the prayer) and truly it is extremely heavy and hard except for Al-Khâshi'ûn [i.e. the true believers In Allâh - those who obey Allâh with full submission, fear much from his Punishment, and believe In his Promise (Paradise, etc.) and In his Warnings (Hell, etc.)]. (They are those) who are certain that they are going to meet their Lord, and that unto Him they are going to return.” (Al- Baqoroh, 45-46).

CELEBRATING THE MAULID (BIRTHDAY) OF THE PROPHET SAW

All praises be to Allah, the God who chose Muhammad saw the chosen prophet from the descendants of Adam. He sent Muhammad (PBUH) to give good news and warning to all mankind with His permission, he asked all people to Allah. He is the lamp that brightens the ways. I bear witness that there is no God but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad (PBUH) is His messenger. May Allah bless our leader Muhammad along with his companions and his followers till the end of the world. Amma Ba’du.

Allah said in His sacred book,

(I seek refuge in Allah SWT from the cursed Satan)

“ye have indeed In the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is In Allah and the final Day, and who engages much In the Praise of Allah.”(Q.S. Al-Ahzab: 21)

Dear Muslim brothers who are honored by Allah,

Actually we live in a great month now, namely the month of Rabiul Awal. This month is the birth month of the noblest man namely our prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He is a noblest man who has a perfect soul, manner and brain. The presence of him with all his excellences is aimed to be the greatest model for all mankind.

May peace and bless be to you. O’ the messenger of Allah. May peace and bless be to you. O’ the prophet of Allah. May peace and bless be to you. The lover of Allah. May Allah gives His best reward to you.

Dear brothers and sisters in belief and religion,

The month in which the messenger of Allah was born is in the month of light, namely the light of Muhammad (PBUH). The light of Muhammad had been created before He created the prophet Adam (may Allah bless him), even before all things were created. This light was taken from the light of Allah. From the light of Muhammad, Allah created the world. In a Hadits Qudsy, Allah said,

If I did not create you…If I did not create you...O…Muhammad, I would not create this world.

Therefore, dear brother Muslims, among our obligatory during this month is making this month of Rabi’ul Awal as the month of celebration to commemorate the birth of the noblest man. With the commemoration of the birth of the noble prophet, the Muslims will be able to get worthy lessons from the life history of prophet Muhammad and his companions. Many children, nowadays, do not know anything about the life of the messenger and his companions. Even worse, they do not have any knowledge about Islam but its name. They do not know the names of the messenger’s companions but know very well the names of actress. They do not know the names of the messenger’s companions but keep in mind very well the names of sport stars. They do not know the names of the Muslims outstanding figures and heroes but know very well the names of singers and dancers.

As a result, they cannot distinguish between the right and the wrong, between good and bad, and the good people and the wicked people.

Dear brothers and sisters,

This is a very big foolishness. The foolishness that makes the Muslims in this modern era weak people, the foolishness that makes the muscles of Islam weak. Therefore, celebrating the birthday of prophet Muhammad with deep thinking and contemplation hence the commemoration will awaken the heart of the Muslims and get the Muslims to get back to the guidance of the messenger (PBUH). Allah is true for His praise to His messenger,

“An thou (standest) on an exlated standard of character.”(Al-Qolam: 4)

THE NEW YEAR OF ISLAM

All praises be to Allah, the God who shows us the crescent in every month. The people who see it consider as the sign of a new month. I bear witness that there is no God but Allah, no partner with Him. I also bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. May peace be always on the noblest people, namely prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He was sent as a messenger of Allah to all mankind either black, red or white-colored people. May peace be also on his family and his companions. Amma Ba’du.

Allah said in His noble and sacred book,

“It is He who made the sun a shining thing and the moon as a light and measured out its (their) stages, that You might know the number of years and the reckoning. Allâh did not create This but In truth. He explains the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) In detail for people who have knowledge.” (Yunus: 5)

Dear brothers and sisters who are honored by Allah,

Every nation has its own year to be proud of. Every new year is always celebrated happily with many kinds of big celebrations. Each religion also has its own year to be used as a direction in religion-related life. And in this case, the Muslims have the year of Hijriah. That is the new year of Islam to be proud of by all Muslims. The year of Hijriah is used by the Muslims since the authority of Khalifah Umar bin Khatab (may Allah bless him). This second Khalifah (the leader of Muslims) often called as Amirul Mukminin instructed to use the year of Hijriah as the starting point of the time-count in all Muslims regions. Since then, the year of Hijriah was widely used as the guidance to arrange the calendar of the Muslims’ activities, either in relation to governmental, educational, or other important matters as well as the history of Islam.

Dear brothers and sisters who are honored by Allah SWT,

The year of Hijriah has close relation with the event of Hijriah by the messenger of Allah and his companions. Hijriah means the emigration of the messenger of Allah and his companions from city of Makkah to Madinah. This event was named Fajrul Islam by historian which means the starting time of the free and broad propagation of Islam by the Muslims. In the new city, the prophet and his companions built a Muslim community and country, Madinah. Then, it became the centre of the propagation of Islam. From this city, the light of Islam brightened the world. Of course, there were many sacrifices during Hijriah, but all were aimed at preserving their Islam believe. The Muslims at that time believed that the event of Hijriah had significant role in the development of Islam. Therefore, the companions of the prophet decided the year of Hijriah as the name of the year of Islam. By the name, it is expected that the next generation of the Muslims always remember the importance of Hijrah and take worth lessons from this event.

Dear brothers and sisters in belief and religion,

Before making a decision on the calendar of Islam, our ascendants had thought and contemplated for a long time about what kind of event in Islam life was the most important and impressing. One by one, the events that had been undergrounded by the Muslims was carefully considered. Finally, they found out that the Hijrah of the messenger of Allah was the most important event in the life of Islam. Since then, the Hijrah of the messenger was made as the beginning of Islam calendar and the new year of Islam. Based on this new year of Islam, the Muslims could arrange the calendar of Islam such as the historical events like the birth of the prophet and the beginning of the revelation. They could also understand that the most important event in Islam life is the Hijrah. As the result, every time the Muslims celebrated the new year. They would remember the sacrifices of the companions of the messenger and their Jihad in propagating Islam. They would also understand that the Muslims could not live individually. They have to live collectively for the sake of Islam. They would also understand that the year of Hijriah is the symbol to unify the Muslim and the symbol of the spreading of Islam.

Dear brothers and Sisters in belief and religion,

On this good occasion, I would like to remind you on an important thing. If the others celebrated their new years with a big indulgence and pleasure. We celebrate our new year with love, endearment, and brotherhood spirit. What we should do in conformity with what had been done by the prophet and his companions when they arrived in Madinah.

Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, be afraid of Allah. Protect this Islam year and keep in mind the names of the months. Use the year of Hijriah in your daily life. The companions of the messenger had decided the year of Hijriah as the year of Islam in order that you use it in your daily life. More importantly, the year of Hijriah is also used to distinguish who is the Muslims and who is the infidel. The messenger of Allah explained,

Whoever resembles a certain group, then he belongs to the group

Arabic is one of the world's largest languages, as well as an important language to religion and literature. Transliteration is the technique that changes Arabic writing into a Latin substitute. Since there are many letters in Arabic which have no Latin equivalent, either the combination of two letters, or special qualities are added to normal Latin letters.
