A Little Trip to the Fremont Hood

Finals are over, and our very own P took off to the Fremont neighborhood to check out what it's like. Too bad it's winter and she had to make the trip short if she wanted to get home before dark.

P rode on a no. 5 bus and missed her stop (for the umpteenth time), and so she ended up walking a few blocks. Don't be like her and make sure you know where to get off each time you ride the bus!

Anyway, she strolled around the N 35th street area, and got too excited wandering around. This part of Fremont was so lovely — antique shops and consignment boutiques lining up the street, with a fair amount of pretty cafés and yum eating places. Unleash the pics...

Theo Chocolate's very own factory!

P saw a factory-looking brick building, and went for it. Apparently there's this pretty famous U.S. chocolate brand, Theo, and P just happened to stumbled upon their factory. Talk about luck!

Their chocolate bars come in fun flavors like sea salt and chili.
And notice those plastic boxes? Customers get to walk around trying different flavors!

Gotta get a few for the folks back home.

Moving on, remember the antiques mentioned above?

Old vinyl records! Those round black thingy that people before 2000s listen to? They're stocked in front of Jive Time Records.

Right next to the vinyls, there's a small rack of reads from the store next door, Ophelia's Books. The place is tiny and used books are crammed into wooden shelves, the classic style. Even if you're not fond of books, this lovely store is worth checking out!

And then P smelled some nice stuff going on right across the bookstore (I knowww! The places are so closely placed one another), she just had to follow it.

Was supposed to take a picture of the 'Pie' store plank, but the cool frame was in the way and P didn't mind.

Yup, a gourmet pie place!

A 'Turkey Pot Pie', fresh from the oven! One pie is enough to make you full, but P recommends the English Meat pie for meat lovers like herself.

But remember that at the end of the day, the highlight will always be the clothes. There's a lot of vintage boutiques in the area, but the sky was getting too grey and P failed to take decent pics, hence the lack of photos...

Oh well, you get the idea.

안녕!

How's everyone been doing? We sincerely hope you are doing well, wherever you are, whoever you are... Haha!

This post is kind of special. As we're typing this (well, one of us handles the keyboard, two people can't type at the same time on the same keyboard), we are already at Shoreline! In case any of you don't know, and trust us it is totally understandable since it's not a big city, Shoreline is a city of the North side of Seattle, Washington. It is a nice and calm small city, extremely different than the metropolitan Jakarta. We'll share more about our new life on the next post, which we don't know when we'll be able to post it due to our hectic schedule (have we mentioned we're college kids now? hurr to the ay!)

It's fall now in U.S, even though some parts of the country have already experienced snow. Particularly here, in Shoreline, the weather is toooo coooold! These days, everyday is somewhere between 5-15 Celcius! (We are still not accustomed to Fahrenheit) Although there's sun, the sky is mostly grey, making us miss summer.

Yes, this year we experience summer. No, by 'summer' we don't mean the everyday-sun that we always have in Indonesia. We actually get to feel the summer hype because we went to Seoul last June! A dream come true? Well... We may say so. Though we have been to Seoul once back in 2007, this time, this trip felt special because, oh you guys know this, we're both a huge fan of Korean music (or K-Pop, does 'Gangnam Style' ring a bell?)!

The trip was a BLAST! We went with our Mom, aunts, an uncle, and cousins, 8 females and 1 male. How's that sound? The suitable word would be "FUN"!

A hidden heaven of cute pencil case, pens, notebooks, dolls, toys, you name them!

There is no way we went to Seoul without fangirl-ing.

We went to the local TV station to watch the live recording of a very famous music show where we got to see many singers.

A-Pink!

The most rising Korean girl group. C and our cousin got to attend their 'fanmeeting', it was an event where the singers met the fans to answer questions, chat, take picture, etc.

Samgyupsal a.k.a three-layered meat.

Super delicious and was one of the most unique eating experience! Grill the meat, put it on the lettuce, also put onion and kimchi on it, wrap it, dunk it in your mouth. Don't forget to slurp the miso-like soup.

Officially declared as our new favourite food!

"Tosokcan" Samgyetang,

is often named the best chicken-ginger soup in town.

A bowl cost about 15,000 KRW and it tastes...superb! The long queue of hungry people outside the traditional-themed restaurant told us how good it was.

"When in Seoul, do as the Seoulites/Seoulers/Seoulnians (?) do."

And that meant, dinner beside the Han River. We had Seoul's Pizza Hut pan pizza and coke.

The pretty lady is Lee Eunji, our kind friend we'll never forget!

No, we haven't visited all the good places in Seoul, namely 'Idae' (Ehwa University area) and Hongdae.

That's why we plan to come back again... Soon!

We say "our lives have been like a roller coaster" a lot. No kidding. So much have happened since our last post back in March. We don't even know where to start!

We're moving abroad, that's one thing for sure. Next month, in September, we won't be the two high schoolers living in the suburban area of West Jakarta, we'll be the two oversea college freshmen living in Shoreline. Do we get a 'yay'? *wave pom poms*

Like any other moves, we don't know whether we should be happy or sad about this. Of course, it'd be a superb experience to study abroad and live in a new city, we might have more stuffs to write on blog too since we bet we'd find lots of new experiences, we totally love the fact that we'd finally be able to learn what we'd like to learn (and that's definitely not science), really, lots of good possibilities could happen to us. But those also mean we're leaving our families, home sweet home, best friends, super comfortable beds, bedrooms, this iMac we're typing at, even our off-tuned piano LOL, things that have been with us since like forever.

Funny to think we're gonna miss our old piano. We always complain that it's old and the Do doesn't even sound like real Do, not to mention we're so lazy to practice. Yet lately we've been learning new songs and playing it well soon enough. We even want to buy a small keyboard so we can still play while we're abroad, but that's least likely to happen.

But if you ask us what we truly feel about this whole moving abroad idea, we'd say we're hyped!

We're glad we're moving forward! All the stupidities and mistakes in the past are valuable experiences we must remember and take note from, not trap in them. We think we can finally say "We're ready", you know? Something like that. Who's not excited to live near the place where Starbucks was born? Oh gosh, gotta hold these happy tears.

Gosh, we never realize USA is so big compared to Indonesia islands.

Our very first post in 2012! *throws confetti*

So happy to be able to finally take a seat in front of the computer and log in to blogger.com, school (as always) has been overly hectic, it's just so hard to keep up with all the tests and assignments... Nevertheless, here we are!

Still the same old C and P; two teenagers from the suburbs of Jakarta, two contrastive personalities, two different styles. But we don't always have to be two contradictory girls. We have the same hatred towards science lessons (especially, you math and trigonometries!), the same big dreams, the same craziness towards Korean pop, the same passion to dress good.

This year, we wanna be better. Well who doesn't? LOL

No, we don't hope for such great, roller-coaster-turn-over, changes in us. As we grow up, we get to learn that it's nice to go through a process in order to reach your wants and dreams. Along the process, we tend to learn many valuable things. One that you may not have when you're the sudden one-night star.

Hmmm~ The previous paragraph sounds rather sappy. So random.

Anyway, what we mean is we haven't been the best people we are last year. It saddened us sometimes that our parents still had to scold us for bad marks, inappropriate acts, even messy beds in the morning.

How we were so stubborn.

Then again, as we look back, bad things did happen, but there were also so much nice memories to be remembered. And that's what we should keep, the good memories.

Let's embrace the new year with open hands! (Wait, it's March already. Too late...!)

On the other hand, let us share some pictures of how we spent the last days of 2011... Family trip to London (and Paris)!

We did the 2012 countdown on the Westminster Bridge, it was one unforgettable experience!

There's one thing everyone can't miss, what about shopping in London?

Sadly, we couldn't give you guys a complete list of places to shop in London. We went there mostly to watch football (since we have three football/soccer freaks at home, that includes you, C), but we did visit Oxford Street and The Harrods, plus Lafayette in Paris.

Not much you can buy in Harrods or Lafayette, if you ask us. If you want to buy McQueen, Prada, Chanel, etc. you can totally visit the flagship stores instead of department stores. We didn't buy any branded stuffs since ~~we're not fan~~ we feel those stuffs don't really suit our age well. We're totally at the age where we love Topshop, H&M (sometimes), Mango, Zara, Pull&Bear, etc.

So, while we were in London, we mainly shopped at those shops mentioned above. And we shopped pretty a lot. It was Christmas sale plus... Boxing Day Sale!

What a perfect time to be in London! All shops were at least 50% off as long as you're okay with rummaging through piles of clothes and squeezing among other hungry shoppers. Simple and overall-okay dresses in H&M were only around £10 and accessories in Primark were £1!

Funny thing was, we went to Geox shoe store near Harrods, C found a pair of brown leather winter boots (not Ugg, no no no) and only after she made the payment that she looked at the box to find that those boots were made in... Indonesia. Proud and mad at the same time.

We really regret we didn't get to visit Camden. We'll make sure to go there one day!

Yes, London, we are so going back!

Wow, it's been like ... 3 months since our last post?
Definitely one trait of what we can call 'laziest blogger ever', not saying we're proud of it. But whether it's a week, a month, a year (hope not!), we're still here typing from this one corner of the world. Let's applause for that LOL.
Now, we don't think you'd like to hear our sappy stories on how school has been 'torturing' us with homeworks, assignments, more homeworks, more assingments. But we'd tell you about another shopping trip!

So last September, as autumn started to drive summer away in China, Castor Pollux and Mom went on a trip to Guangzhou, Shenzhen and never forget, Hongkong. Well, P has visited Shenzhen and its infamous Dongmen Shopping Street before, but it wasn't as fun as when you're with your freaky sister and your generous mother!

that's Ayumi Hmasaki whom we accidentally saw at the HK airport. my, she's a really friendly superstar.

Shopping spots worth-visiting

Guangzhou, not a place for high-end brand seekers but definitely a must-visit for you street-style lovers out there!

Baima Fashion Mall : looking from the name of the place itself, you know what you can get there. lotsa leggings, tops, dress, more leggings, more tops, more dress...

Guangzhou Shoes City : hold back the tears, 'cause all those oh-my-that's-so-unique-and-cool shoes/wedges/sneakers/boots/heels are sold at ONLY around USD 2.5...if you buy at least 5 pairs! which leads us to a conclusion that this is the place for shoes re-sellers

Wanglin Plaza a.k.a One Link Plaza (its weird how they force an english name for the place) : not a place for fashion, but there are so many to buy here e.g super cute notebook, handmade keychains, unique socks, various cloth bag and so many other things.

Beijing Lu : the IT place to be, needless to say it's where the crowds of Guangzhou are! lots and lots of casual wear shops, international restaurants, and not to forget food stalls that sells cold drink and skewers.
Beware though. The skewers usually contain chicken liver, seahorses, mini octopus (there are such thing as cute little octopus!) and also some normal skewers, like chicken, prawns, BBQ meat. Thank God.

Shenzhen, shop 'till you drop works here.

Dongmen Pedestrian Street : everything is so cheap here, we just bought every good things we could find and it totally exceeds our things-to-buy list. we're talking about heels, clothes, bottoms, hats from vintage and preppy-like to rocker style.

Luohu : the well-known tourist spot, so expect the prices to be a lot more expensive here. but with a pair of good eyes, you'll find many nice items here. We found a perfect small black cape with gold buttons, very rare to find in our country. Have a note in mind, be a smart bargainer!

The thing is, we totally forgot where we bought those clothes. They're from some malls, but what's the names of those shops again? LOL yeah anyway bought those socks at a flea market in Shenzhen and the shoes (C's favorite) are from Zara. Who says expensive shoes are comfortable?

P recently got back from a shopping trip with our mom in Shenzhen. She left her lovely sister at home *sobs* . And since we're not a fan of labelled stuffs, we practically feel places that sell street-wear like Shenzhen, HK, Seoul, London are best cities to shop.

We had so much fun last summer holiday! Slept late, got up late, ate snacks, went to malls, non-stop browsing...basically slacked off everyday! We didn't go to any particular place, but we did go to Singapore for 'Beast 1st Asia Tour Fanmeeting'! Wow, for us it was one hell of unforgettable memories.

Both of us have always been fans of Beast, yes it's a name of yet another boyband (we can't help it, we've been affected by Korean Pop virus LOL) and finally last July we got to see them! The six boys are so much more handsome in person. *sigh* Why do Korean guys are so cute these days? (We used to made fun of 'em) But more than the fact that they are a bunch of really cool guys, we really like their songs! We'd really recommend one of their latest single entitled 'Fiction' (if you're also a Kpop addict like us, bet you also know the song well. And perhaps able to do the dance? LOL) It has a nice beats and the lyrics are so deeep...That's enough, if we wanted to talk about Beast, it'd take up to 24-hours. JK.

It's august and school's back. Argh, welcome to the era of science tyranny. Literally.

A Long Pause In Need Is A Rest Indeed

สะวัดดีกะ (hope this is the right writing!)

As life goes on, it starts to feel more 'real' day by day. Sometimes, life feels like a bunch of repetitive activities, like you attend school and courses, hang out with your friends, go home, study, sleep, school again...
But hey, turns out it's not. Quoting Anna Wintour, "There is no typical day. Everyday is diferent, and that's why it's fun. Many things are routine, but you never really know what's going to happen." She's so true!

And so, fellow bloggers and readers Castor Pollux has decided to take a 3-month-hiatus, for school and education reason of course LOL. There are just so many things we have to do and so little time for blogging (perhaps you have noticed our last post was not our best).

Anyway we're not closing down the blog *wiping tears* so if anybody want a follow-back or link exchange just leave a comment on this post and for any offers, you can always email us at carliangsisters@gmail.com (blog maybe paused but email keeps rolling!)

Below are some pictures from the last Chinese Lunar Year, early in the February. We had so much fun that day! Wore new clothes, got a lot of 'angpaos' (which contain money btw), eat some nice food, attended the family gathering...Great day!

P loves the simple dark brown satchel her sister (which is C btw LOL) bought in Singapore at a very good price! And the sheer/stripe leggings, she's currently obsessed with quirky leggings.

While, C is in love with suspenders. She's been staring at those Zara red pants since its first released at store and finally our mom bought 'em for Chinese New Year! LOL Lunar Year surely brings good luck, no?
P.s that white loose top, we bought it for 10 HK$ which is pretty much equals to 1 US$! We love Hongkong!

Guten Tag!

It is always a great pleasure to be back blogging again, sitting here in front of the computer and thinking what to write on this post (at least it's one of those excuses to run away from the stress of overload assignments)
School is just as crazy as it can get, so many tests, so many home works. It's like a journey with so many challenge along the way. And like a journey, at some point you'll face an intersection. Guess that's what we're facing now, an intersection to decide which path we'd take for our future. Where would we be 10 years from now? It's a question that is still waiting to be answered, but let's put it aside and take a time to sit back. Enjoy the ride.

Zdravo!

There is no fall season in Indonesia, but we're loving the weather these last few days.
After 6 months of little rain-more sun, now it rains almost everyday!
Talking about season, C is so excited about the fall. The stores will be filled with Fall/Winter collection and she just loves the dark colors, long sleeves, trousers and boots.
While P is more into Spring/Summer, where she can fill her wardrobe with pastel colored outfits, floral tops, summer hat and shorts.
Once someone asked us 'Why do you two always like two different things?' Well, if there are two things we love together, that'd be fashion and Super Junior only. But being different with each other is actually really fun. That way, we learn to make our own 'statement' and share what we love.

By the way, do you know most of Kpop girlsband went under plastic surgery before they debuted? They did and probably that's why we're not interested in those girlsband no matter how much we enjoy listening to Korean pop.
Well, one girlsband didn't have plastic surgery.
4minute is a Korean girlsband who is currently making their way in Japan. They just released a new Japanese music video entitled 'First', which is so catchy and the clothes they wear in the vid, they certainly are the most stylish girlsband! We gotta admit we've been so into them lately!

First of all, a very huge sorry for the more-than-three-week hiatus. Turns out after holiday, school directly kicks in with mid-term tests and it's been really hard to find some minutes to blog, but anyway here we are with a new post!
As promised, we're back with some holiday pictures.
Yep, during the last two weeks Castor Pollux sisters went on a trip to China! Sichuan province to be exact.
And to be truthful, before this trip we know nothing about Sichuan but the infamous Sichuan soup, which is pretty common in Chinese restaurants all over the world.
But Sichuan really is more than the delicious soup, it's an area in China totally gifted with many nature wonders!

Dia duit!

Finally the two-week holiday we've been waiting for is just a few days away!
Forget those homeworks, leave those stress away, we're in the mood for travelling!
Yep, we'll be off blogging during this holiday as we're going on a trip to a beautiful country. Won't tell you guys about what the country is, it'll be our little surprise LOL.
Ah, just thinking about it we feel so excited!

Hola fellow bloggers and readers!
Oh, there's just no more beautiful party than a wedding party. We finally know why.
Last Saturday was our uncle's wedding party. He is our mom's youngest brother and the last of our uncles to get married. He's always be the uncle who copes with us well. He is young-spirited and friendly. He is loved by his nephews and nieces so much, especially the little ones.
After a long time, his search finally comes to an end. And now he's married to a beautiful woman. We can't be less happier for him and our new auntie!

Morning before the wedding party, according to chinese tradition, both groom and bride gave the elders a cup of tea to drink, then the elders would give them gifts, such as gold rings and necklaces.

All family members watched the tea ceremony. 'Hi we are the nieces and nephews of the groom!'

The wedding party, it was held in an old park which used to be the dutch's property. (Indonesia was colonized by the Dutch) Under the starry sky, we eat and dance. It was so beautiful!

MAP Fashion Week, Last Friday

Long time no post! We're really turning into two bad bloggers LOL
We always make the new post together and unfortunately, right now, C is in the middle of National Exam. Next week : still exams, next next week : more exams. Argh it's crazy, right?
Opposite of C, P is currently enjoying her 1-week-holiday, what an unfair world. Hahaha
*sigh
We'll do our best to keep posting ;)

Anyway, last Friday we went to Grand Indonesia Mall to attend the MAP Fashion Week (C has been babbling about it on twitter (: )
We got the Miss Selfridge and PullandBear show, the show was really great!
First, there was a 30 minutes of Scrapbook Presentation by the Participants of Scrapbook Competition. They made really nice scrapbook, but we accidentally deleted all the scrapbook pics we took.
Then the Pull and Bear show, followed by Miss Selfridge.
Finally the music performance by RAN. These three boys really have an amazing live performance skill. They even sound better (and looks better hehe) than what we usually hear on the radio.
We went home from G.I at 9:00 pm and just realised that we had passed our curfew! OMG we were very panic. Thank god our driver is pretty good at high-speed driving aaand double thank god, our dad was not mad at all (yeah!)
He only asked "Do you have a great time?"
Oh we love you, dad!

A Phenomenon

Hola, everyone!

So, last Sunday, we went to Gogirl Phenomenon 2010. We made a big effort to get ourselves to the event. First of all, our home is very far from Salihara, South Jakarta, where the event took place. And it turned out that we didn't know how to get there. After a lot of high-speed driving (don't do this), thank God we managed to shorten the 2-hour journey into 1 hour of tensing ride.
We got there just in time for the fashion show. Unfortunately the show was delayed for 2 hours! It was a 2-hour waiting under the sun, but the show was totally worth it!

The show is called The Feminine Nutcracker by Felicia Citra Gunawan. From the first time we saw her design in the magazine, we knew she's our favorite. Well, here's some of the pics we took:
