Homeschooling in the Fall

2015-06-02T14:30:00.003-07:00

This fall I will be virtual schooling this little one from home so, hopefully, I will get new ideas for this blog. Here we took circular disks that a traveling salesman gave us from a vacuum demonstration. They are like a flat felt material, very good for crafting. Cutting out black heavy stock paper would create a similar effect. I like the disks. I plan to hang them with string from the ceiling.

Glitter makes everything better!

2013-08-26T20:31:00.001-07:00

I picked very boring lunch-boxes. I decided a little glam and glitter will be a nice surprise tomorrow morning. Mom with glue gun and glitter is a dangerous thing!

Excellent Educational Tool

2013-08-23T19:15:00.001-07:00

I recommend! I just finished and I am already using tips. My little one is preferring to eat by herself anywhere but the noisy lunchroom. I am explaining to the teacher that she will eventually adjust and to be patient, no IEPs necessary, no sign of dysfunction. Just a young girl used to smaller, quieter settings making a decision about what makes her comfortable. I am rewarding her day in the lunchroom with mom by her side with lots of positive feedback. I am also pointing out that she has company in the sea of people, I call them the lunchbox girls. I am encouraging her to learn their names and see them as her lunch friends. I also pointed out the nice quiet music playing and how the lunchroom quiets when the teachers turn it off. I will be present a few more times this week. I feel like I can be helpful in teaching her and teaching her teachers that she can work through her fears. I explained to the teacher that both my children and I had the same reaction to the lunchroom, Gracie was just brave enough to say no. But she's coming along. I feel we will work it out by the end of the week.

This book is not just about children. It is an excellent tool for adults. It helps people understand each other better. Learning the Introvert Advantage changed my perspective. Great job, Dr. Laney!
