The first time I heard this song, is from the first season of "Mad Men". Don and his lover (at that time) were in a bar where there're some "poets" and "artists". Don wanted leave the place where his appearance is like a square peg in a round hole. Midge, his lover, said, wait after this man. And then comes this song. This song remind Don of Barbara, the Jewish woman.

She said Zion is another appellation of the Jewish. I know that, in the old testament, we've seen that. This song is a description of the miserable exile of the Jewish. But let's come to see the promise of God in Bible, Hebrews 12:22 :

"But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly,"

My name is Jamie, sometimes, as almost no one calls me like that. I chose this name before I came to France. Because I found in the dictionary that a girl named Jamie is likely to love life, as its pronunciation is similar to french "j'aime", means "I love".

I do love life, though sometimes it seems not so simple or easy. But this is one of the reason I love it. Without the difficulties, how could we find that life once was or is or will be beautiful? It's something like philosophy. One of my friends even called me "a philosopher". She knows me well, I like to think something about our life, about how we become existence, and of course, the end of our life and its meaning.

So, a typical day can't miss out the thinking of life.

In fact, maybe you'll ask, why this young woman has so much time to do the boring things? I have to answer you, that's because the most of the foreigner students in France is in a dilemma. We graduated, with our diploma. But some of us can't find a job, some can, but can't do his/her job. Why? Because it's not so easy to get a permit. We have to wait for a long time, usually job-waiting, all we can do is to wait. For how long? Nobody can be sure it will be 3 months or 6 months. Ridiculous, huh?

Lucky for me, I found a lot of interesting for me to learn and to do. So my day comes first with——my breakfast :p

And then, I may go to learn a course online, if you want to join, please come to Udacity, this site is new, and interesting.

After the brain training, I may go to a translating community website to practice my translation. Usually from English to Chinese, sometimes French to Chinese.

It's time to have lunch!

第一章翻译的基本概念和问题

翻译的核心问题：如何把原文的意思在译文中说出来。

在翻译过程中为了达到意思相同，有很多具体的问题：

a.直译还是意译(Literal Translation vs. Free translation）

b.功能对等还是形式对应 (Functional Equivalence vs. Formal Correspondence)

c.重原文的形式还是重原文的内容（Form vs. Content）

d.靠近源语还是靠近译入语（Source oriented vs. Target-oriented）

e.以原作者为中心还是以译文读者为中心（Authorr centered vs. Reader centered）

f.原作者写作的目的还是译者翻译的目的（The Purpose of the Author vs. the Purpose of the Translator）

牢记：在经济、科学、新闻、政论等语篇中，语言形式不是关键的因素，译文就应尽量保持译人语的特色。在英汉翻译中发挥中文的优势始终是译者要努力的方向。

如果文如其人，译者除了翻译原文的内容外，也有必要时译文也能文如其人。

是谁说，时间是场流动的盛宴……

今天走过巴黎，看见人来人往，车流不息，塞纳河也总是被游船撩动。艺术桥上挂着的情人锁随着行人在桥上走动而颤抖。有的锁锈迹斑斑，上面依稀可以辨认“S&M”的字样，不知道，当年在这里挂上这对锁的情人，是否有白头到老。
