We just rolled out an M14 gas plug that is superior to the G.I. Issue M14 gas plug. This product is made from 17-4 stainless steel. The G.I. Issue version we are improving was made from 416 stainless by the military, and are not that great.

Our M14 gas plug is double heat treated and salt bath nitrated. The ones in the picture are as machined to show the high quality of workmanship, the black nitrate hides that. I wanted you to see it before we turn them black so you can appreciate the high quality.

My rant on the Florida School Shooting

I have been thinking about this for a few days and wanted to share with you my thoughts about this school shooting.

This Cruz moron who shot up all these kids, God rest their souls, is a product of a liberal godless society.

These people have given us schools without God, schools that are gun free zones where teachers and administrators can't arm themselves, kids all doped up on anti-depressants, and parents who are either AWOL from their job as a parent or are too weak to bend these brats over and discipline them from time to time.

These parents now are people who were born in the early to mid-seventies. They have been brainwashed from back in those days. Spank your kids? Kids call the cops. Parents go to jail.

So now instead of being charged with assault, they end up letting their kids become monsters who go out and shoot up schools.

We need to grow a pair in this nation. Turn back to God. Start standing up to these libtards who are the main reason for all of our problems, yet they act like they have the solutions.

And let me tell you another thing - under no circumstances should be banning guns. Guns keep us free and are the reason we remain free.

Why do we all have to be punished and lose our guns because of an act like this? They always go after an inanimate object instead of solving the real issues.

Also - banning the AR-15 isn't going to stop gun crime. If you remember, JFK, Martin King Jr. and Bobby Kennedy were killed with a bolt action, a pump action, and a 22 revolver (respectively). What's my point? My point is these libtards are focussed on the wrong solution. They are politicizing this for their own gain.

Bring back God in school. Let teachers and administrators conceal carry. Let the husband grow a pair and be the head of the house so these kids get some discipline.

I haven't lost hope yet, but we all need to fight back against these gun grabbers and start proposing real solutions.

Do you have our M14 Warfighter Gas System?

Did you know you can upgrade your M14 or M1A without sending it into our shop?

That's right. Our M14 Warfighter Gas System can be done at the user level.

What is it? What does it come with?

The “Warfighter” gas system includes our M80HT Gas Cylinder, our SBR Hard Chrome Piston, and our M80HT Standard Gas Plug.

These parts are the same ones that come standard on the Crazy Horse rifles, and have been combat-proven by 2ID, 10th MTN, 4th ID, 101st ABN as well as many others.

The spindle valve is made out of 17-4 stainless steel and heat treated and then salt bath nitrited to our specifications. So it is basically double-heat treated. It doesn't get any better than that!

The standard GI version is just stainless and moderately heat treated. Ours is impervious to corrosion and erosion, and will most likely last a lifetime.

Our gas system may improve accuracy. The design is mainly for low maintenance and high reliability. In combat, nobody has time to do any gas cylinder maintenance for the navy.

We developed this for Crane Naval Surface Warfare, who field equipment to the Navy Seals. It was developed for the MK14 MOD 0, MOD 1, and MOD 2.

Our piston is 440 cutlery steel. It is heat treated to 58 Rockwell (+/-). It has been hard chromed to our specifications and ground to a number 9 finish on the major diameter, which is like glass.

The grooves on our piston have a full radius bottom, instead of square like the GI issue version. That way you can wipe the carbon out easier.

The gas plug and gas cylinder are made from stainless steel and double heat treated.

Also in the beginning of the year we will be at the Shot Show in Las Vegas on the 23rd and 24th of January. I hope you can meet up with me there.

I will also be meeting with Colt, Sig Sauer, Rock River Arms, FNH, and the United States Military to show them our new products.

With our new barrel technology, our flash hider technology, and our sound suppressor technology, we have a lot to talk to our customers about.

New exclusive M14 Barrel

I have some breaking M14 product news.

We have partnered with Hart Barrels to bring a new medium weight 416 stainless barrel to the M14. It is available in the .260 Remington version and the .308 version. All barrels are made to Smith Enterprise's proprietary specifications.

Our .308 barrel is our new 1 turn in 10 with 5 groove left hand twist exclusively for Smith Enterprise from Hart Barrels. The barrels will be marked "SMITH&HART".

We are the only ones with a .260 Remington version out there.

Hart Barrels are extremely well-made, hand lapped after they are rifled and stress relieved. They are stress relieved 3 times in the process of manufacture.

We are shooting half inch groups at 100 yards or less using a Sage International stock and scope. That is unheard of for a gas gun to do that consistently all the time. Go here to see our video of us test-firing the .260 Remington version.

Arizona Law Enforcement Official Tests Smith Enterprise Flash Hider & Sound Suppressor

An Arizona Law Enforcement Official who we cannot name conducted a night fire test last Friday. This is what he had to say:

"The first image is an AK Krink SBR chambered in 5.56 mm. The second image is a standard Romanian Guard's AK chambered in 7.62 x39 with a Smith sound Suppressor. (100% reliable and very quiet.) The third image is the same AK with a Smith Enterprise Vortex Flash Hider. The vortex remains the best flash suppressor I have ever tested. I have tested the Vortex on M1As, AR15, AR10 and now the AK 47."

Ron Smith Response to Bump Stock Ban Email

I wrote an email yesterday about the Bump Stock Ban and the Las Vegas shooting.

I don't know how this offended anyone, we do believe this was a tragedy, as all the shootings are a tragedy.

But some people had some issues when we mentioned that it was a good thing the nutjob in Las Vegas wasn't using our Vortex Flash Hider.

We were not joking about that. We can't understand why a small few would be offended by something like this.

If people are going to get bothered about something start getting bothered about the 91 people a day who die from opioid overdoses and the 64,000 who died last year from that.

Or the 22 veterans who are committing suicide every day because they can't get the care or support they need. Or the fact that our do-nothing Congress wants to push a bump-stock ban at a time when we are trillions of dollars in debt, we are being flooded with illegals and MS-13 gangs, and nobody can afford health care.

If some are going to get their panties bunched up, at least focus on the right things.

And whether people like it or not, the Smith Enterprise Flash Hider is the best flash hider known to man. We are not ashamed by this FACT.

World Class Chinese M14 Products

Just wanted to send you a quick update on some things we have been working on.

I am getting old and I don't know how much longer I can do this. These ideas and products of mine will be available as long as I still have a fight in me.

Chinese M14 Vortex

People love their Chinese M14s made by Norinco or Polytech. We now make a direct connect Vortex for Model 305 M14. This product is not on our website yet, so you will have to call the shop if you want one at (480) 964-1818.

Chinese M14 Gas Lock

For the Polytech 305 we have the Dovetail gas lock front sight and the hooded front sight. The Part Number is 2011-305 for the 22 inch barrel. The Part Number is 2000-M305 for the Direct Connect. The hooded gas lock Part Number is 2012-305. These can be adjusted for 18-22 inch barrel. Call the shop if you need one (480) 964-1818 as these aren't on the website yet.

Chinese M14 Trigger Jobs

We do trigger jobs on the Chinese M14s as well. We upgrade the hammer springs and the pins. We also reparkerize. The pull is 4-4.5 lbs. and optimized for accuracy.

Colt Defense buys Smith Enterprise’s Vortex for the M-4

Colt Defense bought x150 of our Part Number 1001V-A2 Vortex for the M-4 Carbine in June 0f 2017. We have been working with Colt Defense for many years, and this is the 3^rd or 4^th order like this over the years.

Colt Canada buys Blank Firing Adapters for the C8 Rifle

Colt Canada ordered x100 of our Part Number 1015 Blank Firing Adapter (BFA), which is the BFA that works with the 10.5 inch barreled M-16s. This is an ongoing order with Colt Canada who have ordered over x1,000 of these parts off and on in the past 4 years. When they tested our Blank Firing Adapter, it stopped an 855 green tip round dead in its tracks thus ensuring the safety of those in front of the rifle just in case someone loads live ammunition. The test destroyed the BFA, but the round did not go down range.

CANSOFCOM buys Vortex Flash Hider for the M240 Machine Gun

In July, CANSOFCOM ordered x40 of our M240 Vortex Flash hiders, Part Number 1001-AV-A3. These flash hiders are the sound suppressor capable kind. CANSOFCOM has purchased an overall x700 of these items over the past 4 years.

Department of National Defense Canada Orders Vortex Flash Hider

In July, Department of National Defense Canada ordered x100 thread protectors for the Vortex Flash hider, Part Number 1001-SBV-556. Ordered in July.

Smith and Wesson Orders the Vortex Flash Hider for the MP15

Smith and Wesson ordered x650 Vortex Flash Hiders for the MP15, Part Number 1001-G6A2-PH. The “PH” is for the pinhole version so they can permanently install these Vortex Flash Hiders on the MP15. This is an ongoing contract of over 2,000 ordered in the past 4 years.

Smith Enterprise Vortex Passes HK Test

HK tested the Vortex Flash Hider, Part Number 1001-G6A4, and posted the video on their Facebook page. It passed with flying colors. Tested against 3 other flash hider makers. Smith Enterprise won the test. The video clearly shows that the Smith Enterprise Vortex is the absolute best Flash Hider money can buy.

Vortex Going on the Chris Kyle Gun

Cobalt Kinetics bought x255 of the newest Vortex Flash Hider, Part Number 1001V G6A4 with the patented Arc Helix. This order was for their newest rifle, the Chris Kyle gun. Tana Kyle, Chris Kyle’s wife, approved the rifle and you can see a picture of Ron with her from the SHOT Show.

Hart Barrels to make M14 Barrel for Smith Enterprise

New M1A & M14 Trigger Ordered in Large Quantities

Smith Enterprise announces that we are receiving a major influx in orders for our M14/M1A trigger work. The hammer and trigger pins are made from - S7 tool steel, double heat treated. It is both heat treated and salt bath nitrited. These pins work on M14s, M1As, and M1 Garands. Each trigger job includes deburring and reparkerization. It has a 4 - 4 1/2 no creep let off. The hammer spring is Smith Enterprise's own design as far as wire diameter and length. The GI issue hammer spring way too heavy, and was needing improvement. This hammer spring is the same one used when we made M14 Crazy Horses for ISAF in Iraq.

Smith Enterprise receives purchase orders from the South African Government for x150 Vortex A3 versions for the M240 Machine Gun. Anthony Weilen, Croc, out of Croc's Gun Shop is handling the shipment on behalf of Smith Enterprise due to his great experience exporting firearms parts.

Smith Enterprise Develops New .338 Lapua Muzzle Brake

Smith Enterprise is proud announce the new Muzzle Brake for the .338 Lapua. The 3/4 24 or 5/8 24 size muzzle brake will fit the Remington 700 and Savage 110. It was designed in the last couple months. Desert Firearms and ROBAR shot the new Smith Enterprise muzzle brake and said it is like shooting a light weight .308. Accuracy is not negatively affected, they said. Salt Bath Nitrited. Dimensions are about the same as the M240 Machine Gun Vortex .985. Has an A3 style outside helical groove around the diameter. Pictures on website. Suppressor for the Lapua is the same suppressor as the M240 machine gun, but the baffles are the proper size for the 338. Suppressor is going through testing. The Brake is very very effective.

New Sound Suppressor Adapters

More and more M1A/M14 owners are wanting to suppress their rifles. This is our new direct connect adapter. It has the .595x32 ID and 5/8x24 OD threads. The part number will be 2000A. It is machined from bar-stock 8620 and will be heat treated the same as our Vortex. This picture shows the part in the white, prior to heat treat and mag phosphate. THIS IS NOT STAINLESS.

Hypocrisy of the Average Gun Buyer

Ron Smith really wants the word out about a hypocrisy in the gun industry.

The self defense of our families, the ability to hunt, and our God-given rights described in the 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution take a high priority to all of us.

Here is the hypocrisy, says Ron. He said that people will buy some cheap AR-15 or firearms accessory from the latest start up gun manufacturer and won't give it a single thought. People are basically buying junk, yet they think they are getting something really good.

If our life, liberty, and property are important to us, then don't you think we should vet and research the company we are buying our guns and parts from?

People will research until they are blue in the face on Angie's List looking for most qualified, certified, licensed, and insured company to build them a bathroom, or clean out their plumbing, or build themselves pool. Plumbers get more research than firearms! But when it comes to guns, for some reason they don't research much.

Smith Enterprise has been around for over 40 years. We have a Class III License, an ITARs license, we are insured, we are registered with the Federal Government, we have done business with other countries, we have built firearms for the US Military, we have built firearms for the Navy Seals, we have done it all. We are as certified and experienced as a company can get.

Now sure, we get a lot of business, but we could get a whole lot more if the average gun buyer would do his research. People need to do more research and don't trust everything you see in a store, it most likely is not made of high quality materials, processes, and craftsmanship.

SEI Uses DOD Aperture Cards

This is Ron holding a stack of Department of Defense M14 Aperture Cards (Microfiche) with all of the original prints of the different M14 parts. At SEI, we have the highest standard of excellence for our products. We have a print of every nut, screw and bolt for the M14, up to and including the stock print. Smith Enterprise, as far as we know, is the only one in the country with a set of these type of prints. This is what we use. Most people don't realize just how rare and coveted these cards are. We want our customers to know. We don't reverse engineer anything, nor do we use copies of copies of DoD prints. Our customers can rest assured that we only use the real deal for our M14 parts.

Smith Enterprise will be at the Shot Show in full force this January (Booth 6410). Ron Smith and his staff will be there ready to talk the latest and greatest sound suppressor, flash suppression, AR15, and M14 innovations. The following staff will be there eager to talk to visitors:

All new product lines will be present to include the new 17-4 Stainless Muzzle Brake for the M4, M16, and AR15 (PN 1002-SS-17-4) that is sound suppressor capable. Also debuting is a new 17-4 Stainless Steel Muzzle Brake for the AR10 (PN 1002-RR-17-4) that will fit any rifle with a 5/8 x 24 thread.

The new and improved quick disconnect bipod will be there. The material has been changed to give it more durability and longevity. The design has been tweaked for optimum weight and functionality. Note: the 82nd Airborne (1-505th) will be placing an order for this bipod now that it passed a 30 day field test at Fort Bragg, NC.

SEI will have new, never seen before, M14 muzzle brakes that will be allowed in the NRA National Matches and the Civilian Marksmanship Program Matches. It will have the same overall length as a GI flash hider and the same diameter of the GI flash hider, but with the Smith Enterprise muzzle brake pattern that everyone is familiar with. This brake reduces felt recoil and muzzle climb. It qualifies for match competition, which has never been done before by Smith Enterprise. The brake has SEI/MATCH engraved on the bottom side of the brake. It is 2 pieces screwed together made from bar stock and then is salt bath nitrited to pass the Navy's salt fog test. Retail price is $150.

SEI will have some really nice M14s on display as well. This includes the Smith Enterprise version of the M14 EBR and the Smith Enterprise version of the MK14 MOD 2.

SEI will have the newest version of the Wind Talker Sound Suppressor boasting an easier disassembly and also an increased number of baffles which provide an optimal amount of sound suppression.

There will be M16 hard chrome bolt carriers marked SEI 3A5E1 (military Cage Code) on display.

The G6A3 Vortex flash hider will be on display for the first time at a Shot Show.

SEI Uses Epoxy Mounts for Recievers Setting Industry Standard

Here is an email from Jack (an SEI employee) to Anthony from Croc's Gun Shop. It is pretty enlightening to see this one of many industry standards that SEI has started.

I was able to get some pictures done and edited for you to send out in your newsletter.

These are the cross sections of our receiver parts mounted in epoxy. These are samples that were done form last year’s batch. These mounts check the accuracy of our case depth and core hardness. There is no industry SOP as to when or how often this should be done, it is determined by Ron. Since perfecting the heat treatment process on his receivers in 1985, Ron has periodically sent out receivers from several different batches to get tested, just to assure that they have been staying within his heat treating guidelines. Ron doesn’t think that there is any other manufacturer out there that goes to the same lengths of quality control for their heat treatment. Material 8620 is very predictable in heat treat. The heat treat processes for the M14 in 1957 were far different than they are today, due in large to EPA restrictions. We have found that on de-milled M14 Receivers, that core hardness is as high as 45, which is extreme, with case depth as much as .0020. With today’s technology, it is much easier to control and predict the outcome of a heat treat on a given material than it was back then. We know that the USGI M14 Receiver when de-milled, were sometimes hit on the op-rod side middle with some type of hammer blow which broke them. The receiver would withstand a great deal of compression, but lateral strikes could not be tolerated very well.

SEI Gives $2,000 to Secret Witness to Help Catch Wild Mustang Murderers

As reported on our Facebook page, SEI was made aware of a certain poacher near Carson City, NV who killed two or more wild mustangs just for the sport of it. Shooting these beautiful animals is cruel and attacks at the very heart of what makes Nevada a beautiful state.

In response to the outrage we felt, Ron Smith and Sonja decided to give $2,000 to Secret Witness, whose primary function is to catch and prosecute people who hurt wild mustangs.

Ron wanted to make clear to everyone he does not want credit for this. The reason he is posted it is to encourage others to give to Secret Witness if they are as upset about these murders as he is.

Here is an update on our lawsuit against the person who posted unsubstantiated lies about our products. You will notice some good info about our side of the story in this response to the plaintiff's Motion to Dismiss. There 95 good pages that are worth looking through if you have the time. SEI stands by our products and won't let individuals blatantly lie about them.

M14 Receiver Update

This is just a peek at what we are up to. Notice the bar stock in the steel tub - that is what we start with to make receivers. That is why it takes a long time to get these built. We make our receivers from bar stock, which no one else is doing for M14s (to our knowledge). Notice the two receivers with larger thread gauges. One is for pre heat treat and the other is for post heat treat. We are the only company with these type of gauges for this process.

Thanks for sticking with us as we get all these M14 receivers built. We are making great progress.

Product Disparagement Update from Croc

Below is a response our M14 receiver dealer (Croc's Gun Shop) put out to one of its customers who canceled their M14 receiver order due to a recent lawsuit filed by SEI against a gentleman for product disparagement. We think it is a pretty well-written letter worth sharing and reading.

Dear Customer,

Thank you for the honest reply.

It is unfortunate that you make this decision without having all of the facts/information on the matter. The story you get on the forums is biased, half the story at best and represents an emotional and less than factual view of what has and is really happening. Smith Enterprise Inc. has a right to protect their good name against product disparagement. This is an unfair business practice and can be detrimental to a small business. The heat treatment issue remarks at the center of this matter are false, misleading and damaging. Our business is being damaged incrementally by people such as yourself who believe without any consideration whatsoever that everything that they read on the forums is true and posted by sane people. Take for example your cancellation and your reasons for doing so. You have been unduly influenced by the emotionalism and the irrational comments that are being made on and around this matter.

The comments that are made online in most cases are not factual and are frivolous in nature. They range from absurd arguments about the freedom of speech to personal attacks on the character of Ron Smith and or his employees. What you must remember is that Smith Enterprise Inc. is a leader in product development, they make a fine line of exceptional, high quality products and that these facts have not changed. Their reputation for quality and their expertise is what you relied on when making your decision to purchase one of their receivers from our company.

Our Congress has seen fit to regulate product disparagement and to make the person(s) engaging in product disparagement responsible for their actions and the losses caused by their disparagement. This protection is based upon fairness, ethics and good legal principles, it is afforded to all citizens equally. You need to recognize that Smith Enterprise Inc. has a right to protect themselves from this form of unfair and reckless behavior as it is their reputation and livelihood that is being harmed. Our company is also suffering continued losses because of the comments that were made and your cancellation request is just another one of those losses. The person who made these disparaging statements online has been given every opportunity to retract their false statements to date, to admit that they were false or expose their source of false information. All without having to make good on any of the financial damages that they have caused so far. Smith Enterprise Inc. from the beginning of this matter has offered an easy and respectable way out of this situation that would have ended the matter promptly.

If you were or are a small businessman I believe you should be able to understand that damage to a reputation and financial losses are difficult if not impossible to absorb and that to tolerate this form of reckless indifference to our businesses and the families that we support is not something that should be taken lightly or left unattended.

You should stand with Smith Enterprise in this matter instead of supporting the irrational notions of a very small handful of people who it would seem believe mistakenly in some self concocted Right to cause damage to others without any responsibility taken. Please reconsider this matter.

Press Release: Smith Enterprise Releases a New .50 Cal Flash Hider for M2A1

Smith Enterprise designed a Vortex Flash Hider for General Dynamics several years ago for their improved .50 Cal Flash Hider project they were trying to win from the US Army. Even though General Dynamics liked the SEI Vortex flash hider, they ended up making their own version of the old Smith Enterprise straight flute design. The General Dynamic’s straight flute version is inferior to the Vortex because it did not have helical flutes which is a patented technology owned by SEI that blocks up to 98% of the flash.

SEI then got a call from 1SG Michael Onstine from the 82nd Airborne and he wanted to try Vortex on his unit's M2A1 Quick Change .50 Cal machine guns. So Smith Enterprise designed a Vortex that will screw on the threaded .50 Cal, replacing the General Dynamics M2A1 flash hider. SEI even added its famous skull logo that is seen on so many other of its products.

The soldiers of the 82nd Airborne will be testing the new Smith Enterprise M2A1 .50 Cal Vortex Flash Hider on 9 October, 2013. SEI will post the review and results when they come in.

In case you missed it, SEI rebuilt some sound suppressors for 1SG Onstine's unit previously. 1SG Onstine is a silver star recipient and a very knowledgeable veteran of overseas combat.

The SEI Bipod is made from 4140 Chrome Moly Steel, 304 Stainless and is TiG welded to perform in the harshest and most demanding environments. The 4140 latches are Wire EDM cut to assure maximum strength and the legs are cut with positive locking notches to provide precision locking under any conditions. Our 4140 “ski feet” are a major improvement over any of the rubber of claw-type foot designs. The knuckle joint is machined from 304 stainless steel for exceptionally long life and durability.

Installation only requires only an initial adjustment/tightening of the two adjusting nuts. After these are snug down tight, removal/installation can be accomplished with a quick and simple flip of the throw lever. Smith Enterprise Awarded Contract for 400 Vortexes for the Navy Seals

Smith Enterprise received a purchase order from the Navy Seals for 400 each of their premium Vortex Flash Hiders for the MK48 Machine Gun. The MK48 Vortex is Sound Suppressor capable and blocks over 95% of the flash. The version of the Vortex purchased by the Navy Seals is the G6A3 flash hider that includes the new external ten-pitch radial bottom helical grooves, which aid in the easy removal of the Wind Talker Sound Suppressor.

The contract (H92240-13-P-0250) awarded was the first contract award after many years of rigorous testing of the MK48 Vortex Flash Hider by Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center. Crane was so impressed with the MK48, it awarded Smith Enterprise a National Stock Number (1005-01-600-8577) and also safety certified the device. Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center is the contracting division for the Navy Seals.

Crane’s original intent was to approve the best flash hider that will later be used as a mounting platform for Smith Enterprise MK48 Wind Talker Sound Suppressor. Smith Enterprise previously bid on a Sound Suppressor solicitation for the MK48 in 2010 and was beat by FN, who has no Sound Suppressor experience. FN has yet to produce its first Sound Suppressor for the Navy and is still attempting to make an integral barrel Sound Suppressor – something that the military has tried to make for decades without success. Smith Enterprise is hopeful that the Navy Seals see the value in Smith’s products and will follow up with a Sound Suppressor purchase order. The Smith Enterprise Sound Suppressor for the MK48 is complete with testing and is ready for delivery.

Smith Enterprise also makes a Blank Firing Adapter for the MK48 Machine Gun, which is a unique advantage for the Navy Seals should they want to train with blanks.

Smith Enterprise Upgrades Battle-Worn Sound Suppressors for Silver Star Recipient in the 82nd Airborne

Smith Enterprise, Inc received a phone call from Silver Star recipient 1SG Michael Onstine of the 2-505^th PIR (Parachute Infantry Regiment) in June of this year. He told Smith Enterprise, Inc. that he had in his possession some battle-worn Wind Talker Sound Suppressors made by Smith Enterprise from 2004 and wondered if there was anything Smith Enterprise could do to help clean them up. Not only did Smith Enterprise clean them up, but they replaced all of the baffles inside with the new SEI Cone Baffle system as well as replace the coupler, the end cap, and the Vortex flash hider it mounts on. Smith also gave the suppressors a new paint job to MILSPEC standards.

The only thing remaining on the original Sound Suppressor was the tube itself. Everything else got replaced. 1SG Onstine and his men were pleased to have the four Sound Suppressor back in mint condition with the latest upgrades.

The Sound Suppressors were originally sent to the 2^nd Infantry Division (2 ID) in Korea back in 2004. At that time the 2 ID ordered a total of 110 M14 Wind Talker Sound Suppressors along with 110 of Smith’s M14 Crazy Horse upgrade kit which consisted of Smith Vortex Flash Hiders, mounts, rails, bipods, scope rings, gas lock front sites, upgraded heat treated barrels, extended bolt stop, and a long list of other parts. Right after the upgraded Crazy Horse rifles arrived in Korea, the 2 ID deployed to Iraq. Those suppressors stayed in Iraq transferring from unit to unit until the 2-505^th PIR redeployed this past year. That is when Smith got the call from 1SG Onstine with the 2-505^th.

The 2-505^th PIR is part of the elite 82^nd Airborne Division out of Fort Bragg, NC. The 82^nd Airborne is one of the main light infantry divisions in the US Army with an ongoing mission to rapidly deploy anywhere in the world at a moment’s notice. The 82^nd Airborne also conducts rotations overseas as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. It was during one of these rotations where 1SG Onstine received the Silver Star. 1SG Onstine received the Silver Star for valor during Operation RUSTUM as part of Operation IRAQ FREEDOM near Baghdad, Iraq in 2007. 1SG Onstine braved through multiple fire fights while severely wounded ensuring his men got out safely before he allowed himself to be evacuated. He also acted bravely and selflessly multiple times to ensure his platoon escaped against overwhelming enemy numbers. You can read more about 1SG Onstine here at MilitaryTimes.com.

When Ron Smith, President of Smith Enterprise was asked about this he stated, “This is a no brainer. For what 1SG Onstine did for his men and this country, the LEAST we could do was get their suppressors upgraded for them. These Sound Suppressors they have are quite the find. Imagine how many battles they went through over the last 9 years? There must have easily been tens of thousands of rounds fired through them and many of fine fighting men must have taken these suppressors on and off their rifles over the years. They were in as good a shape as when we first sent them off, just needed to have the carbon cleaned off. We wanted 1SG and his men to have our new light weight coupler, our new baffles, our new end cap, and our new Vortex. We want these heroes to have the best we have to offer them.”

Smith Enterprise Releases an Improved Flash Hider Model for the M14

Smith Enterprise is rolling out with a new M14 flash hider model called the G6A3 M14 Vortex Flash Hider. The flash hider consists of an external thread designed to mitigate carbon buildup when a Wind Talker sound suppressor is installed. With these new external flash hider threads, the user can easily unscrew the Wind Talker sound suppressor with ease – even after thousands of rounds have been fired.

While Smith Enterprise already makes an AR15 flash hider with an external thread feature for its AR15 flash hider model (also compatible with the M16 and M4). Applying this flash hider technology to the M14 is the next step.
