My last visit to Dragon-i was 9 years ago.....such a long time!

So, it's time to drop-by again😀

this time at the Pavilion BJ outlet.

I ordered a tray of pork xiao long bao and a braised beef la mian. These 2 items are their recommended dishes.

La mian tastes good, beef was tender and no gamey taste. The xiao long bao pork tastes like the pork filling in Chinese pork bao. Of course this one is nicer with some 'broth' and finer skin. Have to carefully sip the broth and not to burst them.

RM54.40 nett for the meal.

Family Dinner @ Chee Seong Restaurant

Back to Chee Seong restaurant for family dinner. It was a Tuesday (public holiday replacement for Wesak Day), marking the last day of the long weekend before people returned to work.

We ordered 4 dishes. They are:

Steamed tilapia in fermented bean paste. The bean paste was slightly sweet for our tastebud.

Stir-fried baby spinach - fresh and crunchy.

Chinese wine chicken soup in claypot - acquired taste, if you like Chinese wine then this soup is fine for you.

Braised seafood with tofu and assorted veggies - safest choice, you can't go wrong with fish maw, scallops and prawns😀

The 3 dishes before the fish was served...

For dessert, we had complimentary guilin gao (herbal jelly).

Overall, a good dinner, service was fast.

Total bill came to RM232 nett for 5 pax.

Masjid Jamek LRT station

I was craving for chili pan mee so got my fix at Super Kitchen restaurant.

The price has increased by RM1 (to RM13.50).

I also ordered an ala-carte pork dumplings (RM9+ i think)

My type of comfort food....This restaurant has been around in the same spot for 15 years since opening. It survives the test of time where F&B are volatile. In fact, it has grown consistently and weekend is usually crowded.

Long weekend from 30 May till 2 June. While most KL folks were off holidaying overseas or out of the city—clogging every highway and airport - yours truly was stuck here.

I seldom venture out to the city center, so it's time to explore the city when there's less people. I went to the newly refurbished SAS building, the iconic & historic building of the country.

This place used to be a high court and not anyone can enter the compound freely. In the past, whenever a high-profile court case took place, reporters and cameramen would camp here.

I've only been here once during a school trip...and bumped into the late Karpal Singh, a prominent lawyer & politician.

This was my second time visiting the building....after almost 3 decades...

The 'atmosphere' is hugely different. Back then, people who entered this place are either criminal, law enforcers, judges, lawyers...with tense and serious mode but now this is a touristry attraction where people bring kids and families to visit. And this year is Visit M'sia Year hence there are several carnival/exhibitions going on in this building.

The newly refurbished interior looks brighter and cleaner with white marble floor.

A stark contrast from the yesteryear.

The road in front is cordoned off. Closed for carnival during the weekend.

There were tents set up at the side of Merdeka Square field. Did not bother to check coz it was hot & sunny. I need to shelter myself first.

So I ended up following the crowd and went into this building😀

It was still hot, there isn't much shade....

Not much tree shade.....

I followed the crowd and went into an aircond room where people get tickets to the exhibition halls.

FOC for Malaysian. Non-citizen gotta pay RM44 per ticket.

There are 4 halls used for exhibition.

The first hall displays the artefacts during the old Malay rulers and colonial days.

Some history about Chinatown.

Another hall showcases the city in a miniature replica. The video introduces the places of attraction around KL and ended with a fireworks display.

It was a stunning show with colorful lights, 'fireworks' and sound effect.

The combination looks so real despite the miniature replica.

The 3rd hall plays a video explaining the nature, flora, fauna, and the country’s landscape. I wish i could stay here longer for the aircond, plus the 'sound of nature' is so soothing to the ear.

And the fourth hall showcases the arts, culture and architecture of the country.

There are a few kopitiams operating in this SAS building. It serves the usual kopitiam food like nasi lemak, mee siam, teh tarik sort of thing.

Earlier on, I went to DBKL to watch the KL youth orchestra rehearsal.

There are several shows going on until end of June in conjunction with the KL orchestra festival.

Yuen Kee Dumpling

This is another new eatery that I wanted to try. Saw it since I came back during end of March, so I'm not sure when it was opened.

The shopfront incorporates a transparent glass window, inspired by the Din Tai Fung concept, enabling passers-by to watch the dumpling-making process in action.

The interior is bright and spacious.

Order is done via online from the QR code, then proceed with online cashless payment (ewallet, etc) before they serve the food to your table. Similar concept like Nando's.

I ordered a set B (RM22.90 nett), comprises of dumplings with wanton noodle in soup, a plate of blanched romaine lettuces with garlic and red bean soup dessert.

The sauces and cutleries counter is located at the side where customer can DIY their own mix & match sauces.

The wanton noodles are al dente. I chose prawn with pork dumplings. There are 6 pieces in the noodles. Taste OK, but personally I prefer the prawn/pork dumplings in Xiguan coz it has stronger umami taste.

A plate of greens....I need my veggies!

The red bean soup is quite nice & refreshing, coz i requested for cold.

There is green bean soup in the option too.

[Below] Another new eatery by 'Sun Thai' (a muslim-Thai food restaurant) which opened a week ago.

This eatery specializes in braised meat, but it has other items in the menu which are similar to Sun Thai.

I've been to Sun Thai a few times and would usually order their pad kra pao rice (which is also available here).

Family dinner on a quiet Sunday evening. This restaurant is quite hidden compared to others located at the main road and corner shops. It specializes in grilled meat....so we ordered sizzling plate grilled chicken chop each, but with different sauces - mushroom, black pepper, mongolian.

For veggies - choose either coleslaw or mixed veggies.

For carbs - choose either fries or fried potato wedges.

Here's mine - grilled chicken chop with mushroom sauce, fried potato wedges and mixed veggies. Tastes OK. RM14.90++ for this sizzling grilled chicken chop. If add-on mushroom soup, would be additional RM5 per bowl. The mushroom soup comes with garlic bread by default.

Jojo Pan Mee

I went to pan mee shop and ordered a yee mee😁

But the ingredients are similar to the normal soup pan mee with minced pork, black fungus and mani cai. I also add-on a bowl of wantons in soup. 6 pieces of wantons by default.

Both taste OK, nothing to shout about. The yee mee in pan mee soup tastes good, something different if you are bored with pan mee.

Green Lane Noodles

Went to this place which specializes in Penang white curry noodles and Penang prawn mee.....but instead or ordering their core, I had.....

Penang char mee....aka fried noodles....

It tastes ordinary, bland with no wok-hei....and has gravy, like those mee goreng basah.

hmmm....I think I better stick back to their core specialty.

Never try never know. Now that I have tried, I can avoid ordering this in the future.

[Throwback March 2025]

This was on last year during my transit in Amsterdam. I did the same again on this year😂

After a stroll in the city, I came back to the Schiphol station and went into the supermarket just to look-see if anything I could buy (to fill up my hungry stomach).

Stroopwafels!

The price is way cheaper than those sold inside the airport....

If the supermarket is closed, last choice is FEBO nearby the airport check-in counters...I saw this vending machine with warm food...but of course they are overpriced ones...People don't buy from here unless got nothing to eat at all.

Right after the check-in gate, you will see this "Man in the clock"....Not a real man but animated graphics. The man continuously wipes and draw the clock pointers on every minute.

From AMS - KUL, I was served with lousy KLM airline food....

Another one...

Unlimited wine served onboard...so I tapao-ed back home....with Beemster cheese.

That was last year....already finished this wine before my trip earlier this year and again i tapao-ed the same. The 2026 wine is still sitting in my fridge, waiting to open on special occasion😂

Included a plate of blanched iceberg lettuce (RM8) with 3 plates of rice (RM6), total bill came to RM73 nett.

Decent meal, taste OK....Will definitely come back again to try other dishes.

Road Trip - Northern Barbados

As she drove up north, we reached to the tip of the island, here you can see the Atlantic Ocean.

The skies turned dark around 5pm and it started drizzling....there was a landslide somewhere and it jam for an hour...

Since it was nearing dinner time, me and my teammate went to tapao at the nearby mall, while our kind colleague waited for us. We offered to buy her dinner to return her kind gesture but she declined.

[Throwback November 2023]

A kind local colleague offered me & my teammate a weekend road trip around the lovely island Barbados. We were so 'paiseh' to decline her kind invitation. She is a sweet lady in her late 50s, and holds a senior position in the office. After her church, she came to pick us up at our apartment and our journey begins....

We headed towards north to Bridgetown....passing by various landmarks...

This is one of those luxury residences along the coast....the coastal roads are long and winding and up the hills.

Port of Bridgetown is where the Caribbean cruise embark/disembark the tourists.

This clocktower is in Bridgetown town center.

Another historic building below....light and power house from the last century.

Then we reached...Spiegeltown....a town located slightly up north.

MITEC

Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre or known as MITEC is the country's largest venue and premier trade and exhibition centre.

It has a huge glass panel similar to KLIA. On a sunny day, you could feel the heat from the window.

In the recent years, MATTA Fair has frequently been held here, as the venue offers multiple event halls capable of accommodating thousands of visitors.

This was my second visit to MITEC

This time was not for Matta Fair but attending AGM as proxy....and for the yummy food😀

Nasi lemak with chicken rendang and prawn sambal. There are 2 pieces of kuihs too - bingka ubi and kuih koleh. Delicious!

The day before, there was also another AGM held at M World Hotel....and this one is even merrier....

Being a foodie, I went there for the food sampling😂

As for the breakfast box - 2 pieces of quiche, a brownie, a cheese sandwich, and 2 curry puffs.

One of the new eatery in the neighborhood....

I think it was opened early this year but I seldom pass by that area hence didn't notice it much. This eatery specializes in waffles and cakes, which are mostly for teatime, but it also has set lunch menu. Apart from the savory waffles (for lunch set), there is also pasta too.

Simple and bright interior.

I had fish & chips with waffle. It came with drinks of your choice. I chose peach fizz. Did not finish the drink coz it was too sweet. Luckily, they served free flow plain water in the jug.

RM28.50 nett after discount. Tastewise OK, although not the best. Half waffle + 2 pieces of boneless fish fillets are enough to stuff me full.

Duck leg wanton noodles in herbal soup. I finally tried this in Yitcha Kaw Kaw kopitiam!

I like the herbal soup though I prefer chicken leg than duck leg...coz of the chewy & softer chicken meat texture.

The duck leg is cooked till fall-of-the bones, despite not hard & dense, but it is no longer chewy.

Wah Yuen Dessert, Sri Petaling

I finally tried Wah Yuen....It opened recently while I was away.

I had beef fried horfun...tastes good when eaten fresh😋

Ayam Gepuk - seems like a trend nowadays...

I don't know what's the craze about ayam gepuk but I prefer nasi ayam kukus or nasi lemak rather than the dry fried chicken. Well, most of the flavor is from the 'sambal' aka pounded chili paste which could be too spicy for my liking.

Let's see how long it will last...

The shop lot next to this Ayam Gepuk finally completed renovation....It sells decorative lamps/lights and some other home furnishing items.

Yes, it is chicken tenders rice. Available options: Soy sauce, potato curry or masak merah. You can opt for either spicy or non-spicy chicken tenders.

Mine is with non-spicy chicken tenders and masak merah sauce. Promotional price at RM9.95nett with an ice lemon tea drink.

Passed by this apartment during one of my evening walk...It has an opulent lobby similar to those 5-star hotels.

I'm a law-abiding foreigner.....I don't simply cross the road anywhere😂

Where am I goin?

Just walking around the familiar places within the 3km radius from my apartment.

Banco General (General Bank).....the entrance is so sophisticated! You need to have a valid ID to get in, then go thru the metal scanner via the left door (like those in airport) before being allowed access into the bank.

It used to be a Burger King but was recently renovated and now it shared the same premise with Popeye's. You get to have both in the same restaurant. Yay!

I had 2-piece chicken set meal for USD6.10 nett with refillable soft-drink. Their cajun fries is superb!

Kedai Makan Makan

Tried this new eatery in the neighboorhood.

Next to the entrance, there is a small table with kuihs for sale.

Went there to try the yong tau foo....

Ordered a piece of yellow capsicum, green capsicum, white tofu, and a bitter gourd....

requested for clear soup.

The soup taste peppery with some fried shallots. YTF is quite nice with bounchy fish paste filling.

I also tried the mee siam with curry chicken. Sambal is provided in the small saucer. I like the poached egg with runny egg yolk.

This is the kind of mee siam that I like, not too dry yet full of flavor. I think it tastes better than Oriental Kopi's mee siam.

One-time FOC dish for member.

It is spicy Sichuan chicken dish. The chicken cubes are deep fried and then fried again with the dried chili. There are peppercorns in it, so I have to eat carefully.

The other dishes I had are tomatoes omelette and quail eggs with pork belly.

On another visit, I tried the sambal fried rice and lotus root dish. Taste OK, sambal fried rice is not spicy but oily.

Enemigo @ Casco Viejo, Panama

Had a team dinner at a restaurant in Casco Viejo, Panama City’s historic old town. Casco Viejo is quite a touristry spot with bistros & pubs operating in the evening like our Changkat Bkt Bintang. We dined outdoor at the rooftop of an old building.

For starters: Deep fried plantains and shrimp salad for sharing.

The mains: Tenderloin steak medium rare and a baked potato. Paired with mojito.

It was a great meal....The dinner ended past 10pm and i was so sleepy afterwards....

The next day need to be in the office early for training at 7:30am😅

Most common fillings are minced beef, chicken or cheese.

[Throwback March 21] Transit at Schiphol airport. It was 5 degrees outside! I went out to the city, it was windy and cloudy. My fingers were freezing....I should have bring hand gloves😅

[Throwback] Reached the airbnb on Saturday night. The following morning, I got a clearer view of the surrounding outside. The apartment is facing the city center located 8km away.

My first meal was at the 'Town Center' shopping mall food court.

I've been to this mall numerous times in my previous trips.

Settled with KFC at USD9.50nett

Then off to get some groceries at the nearby Super99. The apartment fridge is empty, hence I need to stock up with some foods.

Sunday is time for shopping😀

I need to register my thumb print to access to the common facilities/recreational area.

After that was done, I went up to the rooftop viewing deck to test my access.

KUL-SIN-AMS-PTY

[Throwback January] Took SIA from KUL to SIN then transit at Changi Terminal 1 around 1:40am to AMS.

Singapore Changi Airport.....back here after a month from my December trip.

It was quite empty coz midnight.

Terminal 1 has blue carpet....I wonder what colour the carpet will be for the new Terminal 5😂

My favorite carpet is still Terminal 4. The completion of T5 is targeted for the mid-2030.

Next flight took around 13++ (almost 14) hours from SIN to AMS. I tried to sleep throughout the flight to adjust my bio clock to the US hours...

Midway flight I was served with 'supper' (i think)....Pasta, barley salad and some sort of bread pudding (if not mistaken). There was another 'breakfast' meal served before arriving. Apart from 2 main meals, they also hand out brownie/light snack in between.

Very informative flight details. It is animated and you can zoom in/out to see the map and real-time plane location.

Arrived sharp on time. Sky was gloomy and about sun rise in AMS.

The Christmas decoration was still there in Schiphol airport.

Next flight AMS-PTY, I was served with meatballs and pasta...with 3 types of tapas and a bread.

The flight from AMS - PTY took around 11++ hours.

Before arriving in Panama City, I had a bun and pancakes with honey sauce. Fruits were grapes and red watermelon. Plain yogurt as dessert. This should be 'teatime' i guess.

KLM’s punctuality is top‑notch, with flights landing right on time or earlier. Sometimes too early that the airport hasn’t yet prepared the jet bridge. The food however, is just so-so compared to most Asian airlines.

Chicken Prawn Hor Fun

Went for chicken with prawn hor fun noodle in Sunny Food Republic....RM14 with chicken drumstick and 2 pieces of prawns. I like the texture of the slippery smooth hor fun.

Weekend family dinner at Soon Lock again.

Their specialty is roast duck. But they also have roast chicken and pork.

The eye-catching roast meat display at the shop front, like those roast meat shops in HK. This was taken after we finished our dinner, hence not many left.

As usual we ordered 4 dishes...

Roast duck is a must. Ordered half bird.

Yam ring with kungpao chicken.

Claypot tofu with assorted veggies.

Romaine lettuce in fuyu sauce.

The bill came to RM162.50 nett for 5 pax. My sis treats this time coz she just got promoted. Yay!😀

Overall, a good meal. All dishes taste right for us. We don't feel thirsty at all after the meal, hence no msg.
