You know (about catching something really difficult to catch) hahaha. By the way, I will share the details next time I post the final output. Im sick and sleepy- just need to finish this or my friend will kill me tomorrow. Its for her wedding card this September. =)

Color Pencil Caricature

2012-07-15T03:25:00.004-07:00

Well, presenting my very first all color pencil caricature. Of course except for the inked part of the body, but the face was purely done with colored pencils.I can say that I am too detailed on doing this. It took me a day to color the face and do the cross hatches an the fine lines. I have been on research lately and have learned that coloring should be eating a lot of my time. But I just do not know why I am too detailed about it. Anyway, aside from I think I am improving, I am still sticking to Faber Castell pencils. I am not yet really to but Prismacolors. I think that I will be more paranoid on coloring when I use it. For the meantime, I will practice more on my color pencil coloring techniques and learn from my mistakes. I need a lot of researching too and a really trusted inspiration that will not break my heart in time.

My first watercolor experiment

2012-07-14T06:33:00.000-07:00

Done my first watercolor caricature doing the recently famous "BOY PICK-UP" theme. To those who do not know about this, you can watch some videos on youtube about it. Took this in the office before surrendering this to the one who ask me to draw it. I really got so many mistakes doing this. I am so glad that Pentel water colors activate again when I wet the applied colors. I regret using water color on the words "BOOM" I forgot it will activate when I applied the background color. I got really irritated because of the black and orange mixture it created. Sakura Pigma brush pens really do the job, I cant find anything too good to be true. The face and skin was still done by Faber Castell colored pencils. Still did not have the Prismacolors. Im still saving for it though. Finally, the client was happy. So Im happy and all smiles about it. Roy Pick-Up even thanked me personally for it. Felt like in a pedestal hahaha. More drawings to come!

A time of trials

2012-06-08T20:20:00.000-07:00

Im sooo down... I need to pick up the pieces, lick my wounds and smile. I can do this, I know I can. Think positive, do my best after a 45 minute walk under the sun at 8am in the morning. I am refreshed and I will act now.

Water Color???

2012-06-08T06:49:00.003-07:00

I was planning to buy water color pencils because I wanted to make my caricature backgrounds with ease since doing it in colored pencils needs to much attention and detail. I was researching about backgrounds when I got this idea of using water colors since it spreads easily and gives a more lighter effect. It is workable too, emphasizing the main subject of the drawing. The news is- I am so damn bad at water colors. I actually hate it. But I like looking at water color artworks. It really amazes me. I decided that since I am so fond of colored pencils, I want to try water color pencils. Well I was eyeing on Faber Castell at first. I do not want to buy an expensive set because its my first time. But I got this really stuck up on National Bookstore because my mind was fighting a hard battle. Water color pencils are expensive after all. Plus, I could not find a smaller set so I ended up buying the ones in tube. Grrrrr! I hate myself!! Though I was able to work on this kind before, but that was very long time ago when I was still in college. Ended up buying a color pallette and a red sable brush also. Well, I wish I could do this. I feel confident on the Pentel Brand, I think it is of good value for the money. I got to practice on these this weekend. I will show some results on my next post. Hugs!

Generator Engineer

2012-02-15T05:53:00.000-08:00

I am very disappointed on the scanner used on this drawing. I paid it in quite a high cost. But it gives me only this effect. Its just that I wanted to show the facial shading and details for this caricature because I feel I have learned and developed a new technique this time again. Grrrrrr, anyway I will post another work soon. The generator on the background was only my own making. I copied from a picture of a steam turbine. It took me quite a long time again doing the face. I will share some insights soon, but this time I am too sleepy to share. I am glad my client was happy with this. Enough payment for being happy today.

My real score now and classical music

2012-02-05T06:43:00.001-08:00

First of all, I would like to thank God for giving me this gift that I using now. I still have the feeling that I am not still doing well. Or is it the perfectionist side of me that is telling me that? Recently, I had been browsing on my works and as I compare from the oldest to newest I realized that it became better. I do not know how this happened, because even I did not notice this progression. I hope that I continue improving and finally to establish my very own unique and original technique, not just copying from others. I admit I am really a hell good of a copier. Lately, I have started listening to classical music and became addicted to them. Most specially opera arias. Maestro Luciano Pavarotti really knocks me off to the bone whenever I listen to his music. I am happy to say that this music had quite a good effect on me because while listening to it I was able to produce one good drawing output. I was talking about the caricature next to this post, I had done it listening to Maestro Pavarotti and Celine Dion's duet- I Love You Then I Hate You. God! I was so knocked off by it I can listen to it all day without having to vomit. I did not know classical music was this good. Of course the duet was a pop music. But having Maestro Pavarotti sing it, gives it a classical touch. I am planning to watch Turandot video that was portrayed by Maestro Pavarotti soon, because I have watched the version that Franco Corelli portrayed Calaf. Too much of this, I guess you may not understand what I am already talking about because it is already about opera. Its just that it did a good part on my improvement. I want to kill my idleness and mood swings as soon as I can to improve and be perfect. But right here and now, I am happy with what I have achieved though I am not that really good. I am still working hard. For my readers, if there are any (hahaha!) this is for you. Maestro Luciano Pavarotti and Celine Dion.

Engineer Caricature1

2012-02-05T05:46:00.000-08:00

I needed about more than 24hours doing this caricature after about more than a month of not doing one. I am surprised I had forgotten the technique I had been doing lately regarding coloring the facial muscles with colour pencils. I needed a long time coloring the face, the detailed lines requires a hell of a concentration. It is too bad I am a "detail freak". It is like a disease, I will not be cured from it. I hope that I can improve on being faster next time. I really cannot kill the moods. I had learned a good point this time- that it is bad to draw lines to represent the facial shadows. These lines after a while turn out to be wrinkles and will turn the subject older. I am lucky that I was able to erase the facial lines in this one. Throughout my study and research, caricature subjects look simple and a bit cartoonish as possible. No extra facial lines, not unless it was something that the subject had to have because it is a unique distinction of him/her. Also, subjects tend to look younger and funny in a good way. Another lesson learned is that to keep your background as pale as possible so as not to overpower the subject. Hence, a thick inking should be done on the subject. Am I talking too much already? haha! Well, just trying to share what happened. I used all colored pencils as possible, though I could not resist using a pen because it takes a short time coloring. Posting the next Engineers soon. Give me some mean, painful comments!

Copied Couple Caricature

2012-01-10T03:58:00.000-08:00

Copied theme from a caricature blog. Done this in my own version of pencil colors while the original is done in color markers. Still making some good improvements. I hate the paper I used in this drawing because it loses its grains after I used Mono Plastic Erasers. I am going to use another paper, vellum or something better. I am also eyeing on Prismacolor Verithin Pencil Colors. I am becoming unsatisfied on Faber Castell already. Details, details and details!

Surfer Caricature

2011-12-08T06:41:00.001-08:00

One of my favorite caricatures because I was able to finish this in quite a short period of time without a bit of inspiration. Only the thought that I need to finish it because I will not have time this week. I am glad this turned out to be successful. I really like to learn more about using pen markers. I think they are o convenient and is really bright. Though I really cant color the faces with it. I am only good at color pencils with really sharp points. I am getting really annoyed on breaking tips, I hope I can get a verithin prisma color soon. i know it would make a difference. My client was happy with this. I feel like in cloud nine when things are going so well. I hope that I would satisfy all with my practice.

Japanese in Kimono

2011-12-08T06:30:00.001-08:00

Another copied theme from one of my favorite caricature blogs. I am quite becoming worried on my rampant and excessive copying of designs. I have a feeling these artist would sue me as soon as they discover I have copied their works. I will surely end up so broken in jail, in other words- JAILBROKEN...hahaha. Just like my Ipod. But I restored it now, afraid that apple would finally find out. Anyway, I am happy on my improvements I think. I have been gradually developing my kind of technique. Thanks to those caricature blogs. They are truly an inspiration. Also, I almost forgot to mention that my friend who asked me to draw this was happy and excited about this. I really feel overwhelmed.

Momo, Momo, (Peaches)

2011-09-04T04:37:00.000-07:00

I really like this caricature, I think that he is very cute. I do not understand the peaches though - the word "momo"- japanese of peach. Facial muscles are very important. Gradually I am learning a lot from this final four caricatures. I think I have a self-realization that color pencils are very great medium. I wanted to continue doing my caricatures this way. And hoping I will improve more. More facial muscles to come...woohooo!

Superman (the real man)

2011-09-04T02:11:00.000-07:00

This is the third installment of the four guys my client had asked me to draw. He is supposed to be Superman. I do not have much time on doing this, i have only one night so I have to make this simple as possible. Cross hatching improvements..**blink

Urutoraman

2011-08-31T02:00:00.000-07:00

Posting my original version of the ever famous Ultraman. This is the second caricature out of four for my colleague's December souvenir. I hope I got his facial features. I wanted to show you the details I made on the face. It is quite tough to do this on a hot uncomfortable afternoon. Plus, I am not feeling so well today. I am praying that this will be OK. Stay tune on the other two which I will be posting soon.

Golfer (copied theme)

2011-08-30T08:51:00.000-07:00

Ordered by my colleague as a souvenir for his boss in Japan this coming December. I have copied this theme from a caricature blog and it worked out well as I added some backgrounds of pine-like trees, a bunker and a flag for the hole. I did not realize that I can also color in pens till I did this. I am thinking of getting myself some great color pens tomorrow or if I have time. It can really make wonders. Specially when I am doing some rush jobs. It lessens the time on coloring. Now my only problem was how to color the face. I still stick to my trusted colored pencils for the face. I do not trust myself enough to do it in pens. I think my call these days is to practice how to do it in pens. I am hoping that my client will love this. Cross-fingers!!

Tamaraw FX (original creation)

2011-08-28T21:08:00.000-07:00

The client requested for his caricature riding his light blue Toyota Tamaraw FX. I never knew drawing cars would be this difficult because I do not want to miss any details at all. I skipped some articulations of course, but I cannot stand to draw his car in a caricature style. I want to draw it straight. Of course I do not want him to see his car in a funny way since he seems to be proud riding it and waving his hand. It took me quite some time drawing this and I can proudly say this is one of my originals. Because this time, I was not able to search on the internet for local car caricature because I lose my connection for one week. Thankful for the disconnection because after all, I can create my own original caricature in my own style. I am happy with this and I am glad that feedback was satisfactory. A big sigh of relief from me. Thanks so much to KC my sweet friend who serve as my marketing manager for this project. luvu!

Wedding Caricature (simple)

2011-08-05T08:54:00.000-07:00

This is a formal setting for a wedding caricature. I wanted to make it very simple without their names because it strikes a drama. I hope the newlyweds will like this. My client is a friend of them who will give them this caricature for their wedding this Sunday. I hope for some good feed backs. If not, I will have the saddest face in the planet. =]

A Post Wedding Caricature

2011-07-31T08:49:00.000-07:00

This is a caricature for a couple riding scooter bike. Actually its a post wedding gift from a friend customer. Well since the groom usually drives the bike, I made a crazy twist switching the bride and groom's position. I got this theme from the internet and had modified some parts. Thanks to those caricature blogs. They are very useful.

Anime Caricature of Sasuke from Naruto

2011-04-23T19:22:00.001-07:00

Maybe this is half a year in the making. I continually change this drawing whenever I am not satisfied on it. I really hate the mood swings I had. I want to get rid of it soon. He is Sasuke from Naruto, hope you recognize his body. I will be here for more, wait for my new creations soon. Need to be here for good. I promise (^_~)v

Squash Master Caricature

2010-09-02T10:48:00.000-07:00

call him the "squash master". Im sorry for poor lighting. I'd better get myself a scanner dont you think? Hummmnn.... rush overnight job. A boss from Japan will celebrate his birthday and at the same time will be transferred to another office. Sent him this gift for a memorabilia not to forget me of course.
