Oh, Fiddlesticks!

This is what the Anthropologie site for these divine glasses says, and I couldn't agree more. They're gone! Gone for good! And they're not mine!

Oh well, it's nice to know they're bouncing lightly about on someone's face, somewhere. In the meantime I'll be drooling at these fine art deco frames online and dreaming of flowing gowns, flower filled fields and fading sunlight *sigh*

Frameri - The First Interchangeable Frame and Lens System

2014-02-25T23:25:00.004+10:00

Well, it's about bloody time, isn't it? Someone has finally gone ahead and invented glasses (usually the cheap part) that can change colours and styles while your lenses (usually the expensive part) stay the same.

Meet Frameri. Their mission is "to help the world see in a more natural way. To free glasses wearers from the systems, companies, and traditions riddling the market and sacrificing the gift of sight." It seems they're on the right track.

It's all explained pretty beautifully on their neato IndieGoGo Campaign. Basically, they take your normal lenses and add a hard polymer 'bumper' that allows you to easily pop the lenses in and out of a range of frame shapes (yes, you read that right - each lens shape is suitable for more than one frame shape, as well as many colours!). This is essentially the way that lab technicians will get your lenses in and out of your plastic frames anyways (really, there's no trick here other than strong thumbs) but these bumpers allow you to change the frames over yourself - and they're tested for thousands of repeat frame exchanges.

Their prices are super reasonable, especially considering the fact that you can easily replace components if you break something/want a style update/need a new script. I personally love that you can choose to personalise the colour of the bumpers to ad a little 'pop' to your look.

The team look pretty adorbs as well.

Stella McCartney Sunglasses

2014-02-22T19:21:00.001+10:00

I think the most interesting aspect of the new Stella McCartney sunglasses is that they're made from "a bio acetate plastic...that is made from 54% natural sources.". It's not something I've seen a lot of in the manufacture of designer glasses and frankly, I would like to see it more.

That said, the designs themselves aren't exactly ground breaking. That's not to say I don't like them, it's just that they're the classic sort of design that you could probably order pretty safely online and not be too worried about them not suiting you. It's a shame this fashionable foray isn't a little more...fascinating, but I guess there's no harm in investing in a timeless style made by one of the best.

Tumbleweeds Handcraft

2014-02-06T17:34:00.000+10:00

Dreamy, freckled, absolutely giddy with colour and personality - Tumbleweeds Handcraft have been lighting up my Instagram feed for months and it's finally time to share their goodies.

In their own words, they 'work with high impact acetate frames and veneer wood by hand to create an unique and durable pair of sunglasses'. True dat. They're also on-trend, crazy fun, and produced in small batches - so you're pretty unlikely to bump into someone in the same shades as you.

They also do pretty ace accessories, like this Brick Wood Veneer Adventure Utensil Set.

Neato marketing too.

Motley Eyewear by Allison Magpantay

2013-12-15T09:50:00.000+10:00

I've just stumbled upon these wonderful specs by aspiring glasses designer Allison Magpantay. From her website:

"Motley Eyewear is interchangeable and customizable where it allows the wearer to have great diversity of elements. With many options to choose from, he or she has the freedom to simply wear whatever they desire. Due to its handmade process, no two styles are alike. Therefore, he or she can create their own pair of glasses so that their appearance is fully expressed."

Her blog states that she plans to change the name of the company, so if you're keen, googling 'Motley Eyewear' in coming months may not get you anywhere - but I do suggest to check out her tumblr to stay up to date on when they'll be released.

I'm personally loving the mossy pair, but I think the sequins would be a hit. Do you have a favourite?

Sunglasses Styling - Ray Ban Ice Pop

2013-12-05T14:54:00.002+10:00

When the Ray Ban Ice Pop Wayfarers slipped into my Pinterest feed a few days ago, it was love at first sight. They genuinely had me dreaming of fluffy clouds of sorbet, skipping in summer dresses and flirting by the water fountain.

This eye candy had me thinking about how I would style my dream outfit around it's tasty acetate...

I would start with a cutesy Kimbra hairdo (for the flirting, naturally)...

...then wrap myself up in one of these divine tea dresses...

...anchor with some quirky brogues...

...and, for true attention-to-detail, a flutter of pastel floral tattoos.

Delicious

Very French Gangsters = Amazing Kids Glasses

2013-11-29T12:09:00.000+10:00

Myself and my myopic man recently had a little girl. Cool, huh? But part of making a person is the realisation that you're likely to pass at least some of your little faults and quirks on to them, and thus I'm lightly dreading her first eye test and the seemingly inevitable glasses selection that will follow.

Until I came across Very French Gangsters.

These specs are ACTUALLY AMAZING and I'm genuinely stoked at the possibility of my little lady's face getting wrapped up in their acetate goodness. I love love love everything about it - the photos, the styling, the names and of course, the glasses themselves.

Incroyable!

Sunglasses Lust: Karen Walker Number One in Crazy Tortoise

Okay, so I haven't exactly picked an original frame here, but I have been OBSESSED with Karen Walker's Number One frame in Crazy Tortoise for years. They're classic with a modern twist, perfect for so many face shapes, a flattering, goes-with-anything tortoiseshell and they just put the biggest smile on my face. These are my dream sunglasses for summer!
