Hablar de Byron & no mencionar a Ada Lovelace--su hija--es un crimen; más aún si estamos en pleno siglo veintiuno. Si no fuera por Lovelace, Charles Babbage no sería hoy uno de los padres de la computación. En fin, le doy gracias a Byron por Lovelace; quien ayudó a Babbage, éste inspiró a Turing--& aquí estamos: leyendo un blog de Blogger, acabándose la segunda década de un nuevo milenio.

Tiene 135 años; es la cosa más vieja que hay en mi casa

Para hablar responsablemente de Lovelace, hace falta un post a parte. En este comento sobre Byron & el cielo; pues hace 200 años, el poeta tenía sobre su cabeza los vésperos que observó Galileo; pero con una diferencia--en el otro lado del mundo Tambora prendió su caldera como ningún otro volcán en la historia. Esto ocurrió el 10 de abril de 1815. Los efectos de la erupción cargaron la atmósfera por 3 años; sus entrañas refractaron luz de Luna & Júpiter--

"The Moon is up..." he wrote in the fourth canto, published in 1818, "…A Single Star is at her side." Caldo de Hipocrene (Ed. Disonante, 2017)

Aunque inmerso dentro de la ciencia ficción, Caldo de Hipocrene de Miguel C. Adrover Lausell, goza de una libertad monstruosa que le permite desplazarse por distintas rutas (tangibles y metafóricas, de categoría y registro, de lo real y lo imaginario, de forma y contenido, de palabra y música, de poesía y ciencia, del futuro y del pasado, de tiempo y espacio) que va destruyendo a la misma vez que las construye.

Este Caldo se lee o se bebe, que aquí es lo mismo, a tres tiempos y de muchas formas: en un 2015, en un 2017 y en un 2077 que giran alrededor de la sed/sequía/escasez que hay, que habrá y que hubo en Puertorro. Las voces se confunden y no sabemos quién ni cuándo ni de dónde se nos transmite. Bien podría ser Miguel Adrover Lausell, ente atemporal, emisario de los tiempos y autor en propiedad del libro o muy bien podría ser Pitia Ω, la primera inteligencia artificial que hackeó o que hackeará o que ahora mismo está hackeando la computadora de nuestra Vía Láctea. En casos como estos, lo que realmente importa es el mensaje y este llega en alta definición.

Con Caldo de Hipocrene Miguel Adrover Lausell se abre paso dentro de las letras puertorriqueñas.

Les liasons dangereuses no es la favorita de muchos, pero se filmó a finales de los 50.
Estaban pasando muchas cosas cabronas en el jazz. La película, basada en una novela del 1782, cogió pon con Art Blakey & Thelonious Monk:

The film centers around Valmont and Juliette de Merteuil, a married couple who aid each other in pursuing extramarital affairs. "Pannonica" scores the scene in which Valmont first meets Cécile, the young woman who becomes his newest pursuit. As their eyes meet, the music enters. While Monk's dissonant blue notes suggest Valmont's darker character, saxophonist Charlie Rouse truly sets the tone for the song, tapping into his tenor's reedier sonorities to underscore Valmont's seedy intentions. Crónica de no soy el único*

Soy freak de las edades de muerto de mis héroes. A manera
de ejemplo, cumplo 36 el año próximo--la edad que tenían
Alejandra Pizarnik y Bob Marley cuando murieron. Mis
40 serán de Frank O'Hara. Los 46 de David Foster Wallace,
Héctor Lavoe y ahora Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Maelo
murió con 55. Cuando mataron a Tupac Shakur, a sus 25
años, Quincy Jones dijo:

"The tragedy of Tupac is that his untimely passing is
representative of too many young black men in this country....
If we had lost Oprah Winfrey at 25, we would have lost a
relatively unknown, local market TV anchorwoman. If we
had lost Malcom X at 25, we would have lost a hustler named

A mí me gustaba cuando Hoffman se rascaba la cabeza y
cuando sus personajes pasaban trabajo para decir algo que
supone ser muy fácil de articular pero que a la mayoría
nos cuesta hacerlo. En eso consiste el arte, supongo--en
diminutos actos de solidaridad, seguidos de algo maravilloso.
La vida es el opuesto al arte. Consiste en diminutas pérdidas,
seguidas de una más grande.

Y es que de esto se trata Gattaca (Todavía sabe a Jazz. Suena a Titán. Huele a ahora, 2017). La película de Niccol merece revisita. Ya desobedecimos a La Madre; le perdimos el respeto a la cautela judeocristiana. Ahora es más fácil trepar hasta elevar la mancha de plátano. Los fenotipos arios están al alcance de micropipetas. La voz de Amaterasu reverbera en tubos de ensayo. Antes —hasta hace bien poco— se editaba con tijeras bioquímicas; ahora editamos con CRISPR/Cas9 (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats). La canción es uno de los resultados de las secuencias desoxirribonucleicas de René. Los códigos bailan en nuestras células —cada uno de nosotros tenemos trillones de ellas, y en cada una hay sobre 2 metros de información—. De todo este baile emerge la música de la vida. Líneas como cromosomas bailando boleros son acertadas poética y científicamente. Eso mismo pasa cuando se enrolla, literalmente, el ADN.
