In My Sorrow

♡

Dear Lady of Sorrows

I remember you never left me in my sorrows
I remember you were always there with ones I loved
You, beside me, yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Those times we were always together in the furrow
In the light of God, the Father, with thee I stood
I remember you never left me in my sorrows.

No soul, but empty roads long and narrow
Sometimes, too much pain is none at all, but dark
You, beside me, yesterday, today and tomorrow.

When reasons were far and facts lay in the burrow
And could not tell what to choose on the way
I remember you never left me in my sorrows.

Tears flowing with the rain, torn, our brilliant marrows
When some said hope is broken and Jesus lay dead
I remember you never left us in our sorrows.

I have forgotten to ask you, those times thorough
When life and love wane some minutes, hours or days
I remember you never left me in my sorrows
You, beside me yesterday, today and tomorrow.

For What We Serve

The chain of God’s light is a miracle

It’s always a walk, the consequences of frights

In every corner, a vocation of service in all directions,

Nothing to lose in battles

Fresh currents of hope -

Cherished

For what we serve,

For those we love.

Send O Lord, holy apostles/workers into Your church!

On July 16th. Our Lady of Carmel, pray for us!

2026-07-15T19:03:46.886-07:00

Dear Lady of Carmel,

From time to time, I am thinking of you, days of our lives

I remember while each one fears death and to a life unknown, we are afraid of the abyss and the devil. It is said that the luminescence of your light spreads around every soul hereafter, and now here, against demons or bad spirits

How beautiful Mama Mary, are the ways of God. How beautiful you stand for us everywhere dear Mother.

I have dreamt of you in your feast day. The inspiration of you, draws everyone in love and humility.

Dreams show me the dead when they live once more, with us and teach God’s ways, maybe like angels, when Martin who for one year, in the knotted scapulars on the altar with his picture beside – draw a vivid remembrance of the Carmel day, happy, sharing fruits and water melons.

How lovely are your ways, dear Lord!

And when a teacher, so dear like Sir Perez, my Aunt Asela, and my friend Almed, inspired me with the scapulars on the passing of time, what else but God’s forgiveness and abundant blessings, are in our midst, scapulars, guiding us all – the living and the dead.

Young kids and teens listen to my stories. Maybe, my stories seem to be like fairy tales or parables, maybe they seem strange. But then, these stories leave a tender smile of excitement and joy to their faces. When Matthew asked me, in a tease – “Wow! Is it our Lady of Caramel?” Surely, we all laughed. It is not for a scorn or to shun my Lady, but I understand a nearness of his heart for the Mother. We all got each other.

Truly, when you, dear Lady of Carmel, grace our conversations, your presence and nearness make us powerful and happy all the days of our lives. Forever.

Our Lady of Carmel, pray for us!

What is it with moths, insects and flies?

Why in their minute bodies or heads, they threaten humans?

Why in their strangeness, they symbolize wrath, fun, seasons, danger or calm?

I’m fond of fireflies. When I was younger I thought they were sent by fairies from deep dark forests. I asked my grandfather (father of my Dad) when we crossed thick forests in the night, “Are there really fairies in the forest?”

And he answered, “Yes.”

I was into it. I adored his stories, even those horses with human heads. Up the sky, we looked, and it was so beautiful! Truly, the sky in blue was vast, the stars brightly smiled to us, and to all those who looked above.

I was not afraid of the forest then. I was thinking, if we didn’t find the way out, we would reverse our shirts to find the way out. My grandfather laughed. He was so brave, a real man! Like an Indian chief he can roar with command, and those who would see him would bow with respect.

There were clusters of fireflies in the forest. Their lights blinked like party lights, but they were brighter, yellow and happy. They were more than fireworks dancing. Their lights never faded and never ended in the dark. When I tried to get one firefly, my grandfather told me “You shouldn’t do that because the fairies might punish us.” So I didn’t catch them. When I came in the house and there were still some fireflies, I got one and put it in a bottle. But soon, the firefly died.

As I traced back, the issue was not the punishment from the fairies, but the right thing to do.

I can also remember another famous story on the moths. It was told by (mother of Filipino national hero Dr. Jose Rizal)) Teodora Alonso. The story shares the idea that when the moths come near the flame they will burn. So stay away from the flame.

Another story is William Golding’s (awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature) Lord of the Flies. See what boys are like in the challenge of various situations. The title shows a terrifying boar’s (beast) head with flies buzzing around. What are the effects of environment to the children?

How about Franz Kafka’s Metamorphosis? In the story, the insect cannot be depicted clearly because the door is always locked. When the door opens, there is darkness. What can you say about the cinema of the blind?

The Moths by Helena Maria Viramontes comes stark with a woman’s anguish. The story gives emphasis when Abuelita (grandmother) died. It says, “Then the moths came. Small and gray ones that came from her soul and out through her mouth fluttering to light…”

Dear GOD

I must be dumb for a while and forget myself.

The world could never explain history,

When science and data pop and burst from a space in time.

Graces from heaven, we are scattering nets

To catch and build carefully,

That we all must thrive.

Beyond our favors and longing

In the day of hearts, we trust in You

Nothing grand but the Holy Spirit

Even, if we have actually changed

You know what is best for us

Even, if we are razed to the ground

You restore our feat.

You never abandon us in the cold,

those we care for -

In the life we tread, and hereafter.

Let the angels thwart our troubles, and

Teach us to love, for God so loved the world.

For You, have always loved us.

Amen

Send O Lord, holy apostles into Your church!

Glory be to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit

As it was in the beginning, now and will be forever. Amen

Thoughts

Thoughts don’t leave you

Like melting caramels in the heart, sticky and transparent

Thoughts are structured in magical molds

With fossils or bits of pixy dust

You begin asking the wind

And feeling how the moon shines

Or how the burning sun bakes

Thoughts are like cakes, bejeweled touchstones

Like deaths you take

Like life you make

Right on your eyes

Shuffling, shuffling, through time.
