One, use your baseball glove as a shield, protecting your eyes is important to you. Second, wear protective sun shades, especially if playing a position in the outfield. And third, lastly remember to always wear a sweat band on either of your hand's wrist. Being able to wipe your brow is important, because this will be helpful in preventing sweat in your sight-seeing abilities. So, in a nutshell follow these three steps and you should be fine. A few things we need to work on. Swings are important, so get in a few good swings while timing the pitcher. During the pitch the pitcher goes through the motions of pitching. Time the pitches with a baseball bat, and donut; they are two important tools when timing the throwing of pitches. Added weight helps the swing, making the regular bat much faster to swing at the plate. Get in about five or six good swings with the extra weight. There is another trick to help while the batter is on deck.

Second, in which this trick is easy to do, carry the bat behind your back, curling the arms around the bat, twisting the hips. Practice swinging the bat a few more times, focusing on driving your hips towards the pitcher. Step two can be repeated until your up to bat.

Subscribe to How To Play Baseball newsletter and receive

When people say do you have the butterflies yet? Just before a game, I would say, yeah, I do. I guess, it's true what they say then about those butterflies. In time, the butterflies do go away, and your too busy focused on doing whatever you can to help win the game. But, where do the butterflies come from?

Being in a big game. At the end of the session, usually the better team plays in a tournament. I think having the idea we're suppose to be better than most we've played, makes the tournament play a bit nervous. Playing a baseball tournament there's no guarantees of winning.
Subscribe to How To Play Baseball newsletter and receive

Before a game, it's important to get the nutrients in your body for playing a great game. Having a bag of peanuts has high amounts of calories and proteins, including the essential vitamins your body needs to grow, and fat that is important to have in burning off. Like with everything, a moderate portion of peanut servings will give you the strength and endurance. You can perform very well in games with the right nutrition. After the game, eat two servings of peanuts and have yourself a protein shake. If you don't like the taste of protein shakes, have the peanuts and eat something else that's high in protein and low in fat calories. Overall, you want to rebuild the muscles in your body, so keeping up your body fit and healthy is essential.

If you would like to read more or have questions, leave me a comment or subscribe to How To Play Baseball for daily updates, entering your e-mail in the subscribe box. I liked to play the center field position the most. I liked it, because I was the player who called the plays. Anytime the ball is hit to the outfield , especially a fly ball to the center fielder, having control of the outfield is the responsibility of the center fielder. I liked the position, because it give me the responsibility to make decisions. The center fielder is given more responsibility, because he has the best position in the outfield. He is close enough to run to the left, and close enough to run to the right field. To play outfield, however, it requires two things.

One thing, you must be in top shape. If you are slower than the rest of your team, practice running around more often, it is a must that you be in the best shape of your team to play any outfield position. Just be quick on your feet, and have solid judgement, being an outfielder takes speed and arm strength. During the off days of baseball training, go to the track to do jogging. Keeping the body in shape on off days. This will keep you from losing your speed on those game days and be better prepared.

There's a lot of running in being an outfielder position, no doubt about that. That's why the best top shape baseball players are playing the outfielder positions. While training on your speed, your arm must be warmed-up and ready to go at all times.

ARM Exercises

Being an outfielder, you must have a strong throwing arm. It's critical to your team that they can rely on your throws. Keep throwing them hard and far every time. Now, to prevent arm injuries, soak the arm on nights after games staying in resting, so you'll be prepared for the game day.

If you would like more tips and techniques on How To Play Baseball, become a newsletter subscriber to my How To Play Baseball blogs today. Leading off the base will be something you'll get better at with just more practice. When leading off the base, you'll want to stride a good two to three feet away from the base, as a beginner. You must be careful, however, while on the base as you don't want get picked off. Keep an eye on the base and the pitcher at the same time, as well as at all times.

For advanced players, the goal here is finding a way to score. You can lead off the base about four to six feet away from the base. As an experienced baseball player by now, you have the experience to showcase your abilities.

One last tip for both beginners and advanced players. Periodically, check with your first base coach for signs. Often look forward to the pitcher to make sure he's not going to come back with the baseball to his first base man to catch you out looking. Well, that about wraps up another blog here.

Subscribe to How To Play Baseball newsletter and receive

Instead, of using a baseball bat to swing, and a bucket of baseballs to hit you need, a plumber stick and a bucket of wiffle balls. This is a helpful tip for eye-hand coordination. You want to practice hitting the wiffle balls, either under-hand or over-hand. Practice this exercise in your backyard, playing field, park, or wherever there is an open area.

The key is focusing on extending the arms to make contact with hitting the wiffle balls far. Never take your eyes off the wiffle balls. Even at contact, keep the eyes focused down on hitting the ball. This will keep you on target, having the best results in hitting.

Practice for about thirty minutes. Take a small break in between every fifteen minutes. While your using this technique make sure you follow through on your batting stance. Nothing changes in the fundamentals of hitting. Everything stays the same, this exercise works the eye-coordination in hitting. When it's time for game day, you can be sure your aware and ready to have that confidence in seeing the ball thrown in your direction. Good luck, tell me what you think! See you in the next blog.

Subscribe to How To Play Baseball newsletter and receive

The reason why I suggest don't swing at the first pitch, because you don't know what it's going to be, you want to make the pitcher work for it. This in turn gives you an idea what he is throwing. It's a strategy I used, and seen done all the time. Having a look before you swing helps you decide what to swing at. Keeping a close eye on the ball, watching the first pitch will result in giving you clues. The pitcher will size you up most likely based on appearance -before he throws to you. If he thinks a fastball will strike you out, he'll try with all his might and power to do just that. Staying confident is a must as a batter. A pitcher can sense fear in his batters. As a batter, you have the choice to swing, or not. Crowd the plate to a comfortable position for yourself., and by doing so your making the first pitch harder. So crowd the plate, and make the pitcher work for his throws. This wraps up another blog, if you have any comments please let me know, or advice on what you'd like to hear about. My dad would clock me with a stopwatch, averaging 3.5 seconds to first base -- fast. Speed will be everything when it comes to getting to first base, stealing a base, or in a pickle. I need you to focus on speed.

How to improve your speed?

First, your speed is built up very fast in a short period of time through exercising. Here an exercise is much needed. Practice jogging around a gym, perfect at school, racetrack, and your backyard. A run for thirty minutes works. If you need to, bring water. Do it by all means it's necessary as drinking water is vital to your overall performance. Practice running ninety feet. As ninety feet approximates the distance between the bases. So, there you have it. I'd say practice a lot, until you are short of breath. Take some gulps of water during breaks, and, remember speed is everything.

Subscribe to How To Play Baseball newsletter and receive

I remember, while I was growing up my first lesson was needing to get in a stance. You’ll want your shoulders to square off with your feet. Meaning your feet should be in the same distance as your shoulders. Check to see that your shoulders are parallel to your feet. Second, you need to balance the weight on your toes, hips and knees. Bend your knees inside the home plate area a little bit. Stay comfortable in your stance-- feeling the balls on your feet. Your back must be sticking out a bit and shoulders are straight up. Imagine this, a pole in your body going straight down. I’ll refer to this coming back in a few minutes. Fourth, you’ll have to hold the bat in a comfortable position. Hold the bat above your shoulders and your elbows should be checked, your front elbow ought to be facing towards the pitcher. Don’t wiggle the bat while batting. Most pro athletics do this, however it is not for the beginner. Now, I said we would come back to thinking you have a pole in your stance. Well, you have to distribute the body weight. The key secret to hitting home runs is swing down hard on the baseball. Doing this, you'll be swinging your body gently. You feel like your on a pogo stick , you have to drive down on the pogo stick and that helps to making home runs. This will take some practice. But, you will eventually get it. Now, step forwad to hit the baseball, but only take a small step. Don’t stretch forward to hit the baseball, because you don’t want to loose your balance Swing down on the baseball. Your back foot will turn, keep it turning.Pretend your back foot is squishing a bug! Hope is blog helps out, write me a comment. Thanks!

Subscribe to How To Play Baseball newsletter and receive
