From my first cry to my first word, from my first step to my first fall, from those dirty diaper changes to choosing my regular dresses; you’ve done them all. Remember how I always used to hide behind dad when you scolded me and tell all those secrets to granny which I was warned not to tell and then laugh like a new born baby. From that red anger filled face to that lovely smiling face, from those ears pulling to that warm hugs; I’ve seen them all. A mother is the one to hold your hand when you walk and lift you up when you fall, To see you get into your teenage and let you enjoy your life but still be by your side as a support when you feel that everyone has left you alone, and finally see you become an adult and take up all the responsibilities but still being by your side as a friend with whom you can share your talks and everything. Being a single mother is a difficult task but you never failed in being one and never did ever let us feel the absence of dad. It’s difficult for you, we miss dad so do you but we even know that he’s not ever coming back but you being by our side never will let us feel his absence and fill it all with your love and affection. Mom, you’re my inspiration and my superwoman. I may fight with you but I never intend to hurt you, I may hide things from you but you know later on I’ll be the one to tell them all to you, I may lie to you but you know some lies are meant to be told for good, I may make you angry and you may even cry but mom that’s not intentional ever because when you cry, I cry a little more than you do. You were only support system for me when I decided to pursue fashion designing and you were the one to fight for me and send me away from home so that I could do well. You’re the only one who’ll always hear my decisions and help me sort out whether I’m right or wrong. Those small idiotic fights where I end up shouting at you and I hurt you but then I apologise as well, those mischief I do and only you know about them and what not; you’re no less than my very best friend and my secret sharing buddy. Whatever I do, whenever I do and wherever; your value for me remains the same forever and you’ll always be the most important person in my life.

After schooling, comes the most awaited and essential part of a student’s life, i.e., college life. Remember how we entered school for the first time? Crying and yelling not to go inside but were dragged away from our parents for a few hours. It turned to be a jail for us back then but slowly the friends we made there and the teachers made us feel like home and then home seemed boring. The last day of school and yet again, we were in tears; tears of departure from each other. Yes, even I cried but then I later realised that all the tears which did flow were real but from whom I cried, they weren’t real. The friends I made were double faced (few were exceptions as still date we share an amazing bond). I cursed myself for making such friends but then I thought, “abhi toh college baki hai, for sure I’ll find some good friends and make amazing memories.”
Then the day came, I stepped into my college for the first time and things turned out pretty well. I made some good friends and life was smooth going, enjoyed every bit of college life and then slowly things started changing. Groups started forming. I started feeling left out because I was left out. The ones I considered being my close and good friends, started walking off and keeping secrets from me. Well, then it broke me down into little pieces, away from family and then now being treated in such a way that made me feel like I’m unwanted.

It was then I decided to keep myself away from them, detach away and let them be happy. I can find my happiness in other things around. I do have some very special friends and they’ll never leave my side and I’m happy for that. Who would want to be surrounded by fake and double faced so-called-friends? Of course not me anymore; that’s not my cup of tea anymore. I’d rather prefer a single shot of vodka over that cup of tea and be happy with my little and compact group of friends. I do have some amazing friends and super amazing seniors at college and even I can list them but I won’t. I would keep it to myself.
We learn a lot as we grow up and these were small yet very meaningful lessons for me. At least the ones who consider me close to them don’t approach me only in their needs but stand by my side when I’m in need of some help.

My Review:

The entire narrative is engrossing without a single superficial line. The reader cannot afford to relax in between and postpone the reading of the unread portion. The language is enchanting. The flow is smooth. The novel portrays a deep truth regarding the ruthless corporate world.
The author's unique knack of first folding and then unfolding a mystery is spot on. Further Sourabh focusses on the psychological aspect of the incidents and go through deep into the mental world of her characters and delves the psychological reasons for whatever they did.
With this book, the author has launched a new detective character series. Summing up, everything falls in line in "In The Shadows of Death". The Character of Agni Mitra is fascinating and the author has produced a novel that is mysterious, intriguing ramble you can't put down in any cost

Can't wait for the upcoming Agni Mitra novels. Highly Recommended !!!

TO MY BEST FRIEND.

“What’s up with your blog? You don’t write these days?” Mandy asked.
“Blog? Oh yeah, I mean... like... I... I stopped writing.” Relisha replied.
“But why?” He asked.
All blank and without any perfect reply to his question, she replied, “I don’t know, I just stopped writing.”
“Such a stupid girl you are. The one who is even afraid to face herself and speak out the truth.” He said.
Silence all around, just the horns blew and the bus kept on moving.
“Bae?” he shook Relisha and let her come out of her dreamland and said, “Answer me.”
“I just don’t know why I stopped writing.” She replied.
“Seriously?” Mandy stressed on it.
“Ok. I stopped writing after he broke up with me.” I replied with tears in my eyes.

*FLASHBACK*
Those few last days before he broke up.
“Hi.”
Seen, but no reply.
Online, yet ignored.
“Hello?” Relisha texted him yet again.
“Yes say.” He replied.
“Yes say? What kind of a reply is this?”
“A normal reply. What more do you expect?”
“Ok. Then bye.”
“Bye.”

Days passed and no normal conversation took place as such. She cried from inside and tears made their way down from her eyes every night. Emptiness killed her and she missed being loved and pampered by him. Her love story was no less than a fairytale but now it was nothing but a one sided love story maybe.

Now finally she decided to make a move and ask him whether the love is same or not or does it even exists anymore.
“I want to ask you something. Just reply with a yes or a no.” Relisha texted him.
“I don’t love you anymore. Everything is over between you and me.” He replied.
“Ok. Be happy.”

Life would now not be the same. This break up left a great impact on her and left her broken. Since that day she left her passion and stayed alone most of the times. Writing and painting were something she loved but now these were the things she did once in a month or two.

*PRESENT TIME*

“For the shitty crap you left your passion?” Mandy freaked out.
“I don’t know, maybe yes.” Relisha replied.
“Come on, you’ve been known for your blog and for your writing and you just can’t simply leave it just because a bastard left you.” He said.
“Yaa, but that break up did leave me into pieces and to recover from it I sort of left everything I loved.” She replied.
“Well, I don’t know anything, I just know that you’re back into writing and you’ll be updating your blog real soon and I’d be waiting for that.” Mandy said.
“Surely, I’ll do it.”
“Promise bae?” Forwarding his hand he said.
She held his hand and replied, “I promise bae.”
Smiles all over their face, the journey now looked happier than ever and he proved out that best friends could do miracles.
“For sure he wasn’t the one for me or maybe I wasn’t the one for him but that hardly matters now. He is happy with someone prettier than me and I’m happy in my life with amazing friends around me. My life couldn’t be better than this and I thank him for leaving me and walking away. He taught me a lesson, a lesson for life and I’d never forget it now. My fault it was to leave my passion, the things I loved to do and now I promise myself to be back with a bang. I regret leaving all these because of him and later he’ll regret leaving me behind and walking away. But who cares? I don’t and I won’t because having my friends around me and my family, I really need no one ever again.” Relisha thought to herself and smiled.

(A best friend somehow could help a broken friend to come out of the trauma and start doing what one loved to do. Few simple words and a small time together could help her out to come back to reality and realize that she left something she loved to do and something for which she has been known. A bond which no one could ever understand was understood that day when he showed that best friends do really exist and did his part of work by bringing her back to reality, the world she left since she suffered the break up.)

“Dear best friend,
I can’t thank you enough for getting me back to reality and making me understand what I left behind. Just because of you I’m writing this today. I never thought I’d be writing anything ever again after my last post in 2015. You are the one who made me realize that I left something for which I had been known and for which people like you loved me even more. You words did really leave an impact on me which will for sure change me and make me a better person now, maybe the old and the jolly girl will be back now. Who knew an unplanned small journey could change a life and make it a happy one? Who knew a broken person like me could smile for miles and forget the past and try to move on? Well, it has just been possible because of you. I can’t really that you enough for noticing my tears and somehow stopping them from flowing. Cracking stupid jokes and making me laugh, not letting me be quite because that did let me dive into my old thoughts and it would make me sad which for you was not at all good as seeing me sad is not what you want.
A thank you won’t be enough but you know friends don’t thank each other and well, we aren’t friends; we are best friends. So no formalities and nothing, just stay by my side and listen to my rubbish gossips and my sad stories and be my support forever. Just because of you, today I’m writing this.

For the year ends here,

I smile and bid a goodbye to 2015.

The year which taught me not to trust someone blindly,

showed me who my real friends are,

helped me discover the world,

and made me strong enough to face the outer world alone.

Started a new life,

Said goodbye to the one I loved,

Broken and recovered on my own,

I stand here,

with this smiling face of mine.

New friends made way into my life,

making it a better place for me,

and making me smile all the time.

To the days spent in sadness,

I can’t reverse and make them the happy days of my life,

neither can I re-live those happy moments,

when I wanted my life to pause for a while;

nor can I go back to the nights I cried,

and stop those tears from falling down.

Everything has gone,

everything coming my way will be new.

The lessons I learnt will be with me always,

The day you walked into this world,

was the first time he smiled when you cried.

He was the first man to take you in his arms,

and love you and cuddle you,

he was no other than your very own superhero,

your DAD.

Day by day you grew up playing in his arms,

riding on his back,

emptying up yourself on him,

falling asleep on his lap,

he was no other than your very own superhero,

your DAD.

Crying badly at times,

you ran towards him and hugged him,

showing he was strong enough, he consoled you;

but deep inside he cried seeing tears in your eyes,

he was no other than your very own superhero,

your DAD.

Time flew so fast,

I was too small to realize,

Suddenly that superhero went to a far away land,

biding goodbye to us forever.

That goodbye was the one to break me into pieces,

and no one knew how empty was I without him.

Pictures and memories with him are the things I live with today,

missing him every moment.

That voice calling out “beta”,

1) Congratulations Sir for your debut Non-Fiction. Could you just give your readers quick details about your book?
Thanks for the wishes. This is a very simple book which traces how the country has evolved over the last fifty years in various areas.
Not many know that fifty years back we were a country of about 40 crores habitants and did not have enough food grains grown to support the population. We had to depend on free gift from a country like USA. Today we are not only feeding three times the population but also exporting food grains. No other country, not even China which everyone talks so much about has a parallel record. People have not been told how the country has moved forward.If they are made aware they will all
realise that based on this sort of track record we can look forward to a great future!

2) This being your debut non-fiction, how difficult was it for you to think about the plot?
I was lucky that even before I decided to write the plot had got itself finalised. It was just a matter of bringing it out in proper readable form.

3) Was it difficult for you to think about the title for your story?
No I was blessed to be able to recall a favorite English song of my mine of late sixties which was also a craze amongst many college going students of the time. What I was planning to write and the title of the song blended and complimented each other.

4) The cover is appealing. Who designed it and was it like what you thought it to be or even better?
The cover was designed by the design department of the publishing house. I do not think I could have even thought of a better design.

5) What was your actual thinking behind writing this book?
I got the distinct feeling after reaching out to more than eighty plus engineering cum management graduates who were working with me in a project that their awareness of the way the our country has shaped over the last fifty years was shallow. Some were not even aware of the struggles. Let me explain this better by giving you the example of a telephone. Today you walk to a vendor and if you have all documents required you walk out with a telephone connection. Compare this with the situation forty to fifty years back when people had to wait for five to ten years for a connection. How many youngsters of today know this? It is not their fault since no one has bothered to take effort to tell them these things!

6) Being an author, you must be a book lover as well. Which is your favorite book and why?
You are correct I love books and wish it was not at the low end of preference amongst today’s youth. Indian mythology as a whole is my favorite genre and obviously both Ramayana and Mahabharata are two of my first since these were the two with which I started my foray into serious book reading under the guidance of my father. Victory of good over evil is an Indian way of life and these two books are the best in making this abundantly clear. Most of us can read it as many times as we want it without feeling silly.

7) Any upcoming project you are working on?
I am in the process of completing my first draft of a novel. If everything goes as scheduled, it should hit the shelves by early next year.

8) What other things do you like to do other than writing being an author?
Being a writer or an author is a very recent phenomenon. I have been a working professional in various capacities and different countries for nearly forty years and this is my second avatar if I may say so. Let me hence enjoy this for the time being.

9) While writing this book, what were the thoughts running around in your mind?
I was reasonably focused with the desire to complete the book at all cost. I had to thus ensure that my thoughts did not wander and allow my focus to drift which could be detrimental to my completing the book.

10) Lastly before you leave and this phase of questions ends here, would you love to leave a message for your readers?
All Indians should consider themselves to be blessed to have been borne in this country with its rich traditions and heritage .It is for us to ensure that we work for betterment of the country so that it can get back to its top position which history has recorded. Be proud of the country since it is you and me who make the country what it is.

WITH THE END BEGAN A NEW JOURNEY.

End of the year but there began a new journey. In the church they held each other’s hand and Lisa hugged him. Rishik smiled and kissed her on her cheek. She blushed and buried her head in his chest.
“I won’t be having my cellphone now. Exams knocking.” He said.
“Not even for an hour or so? Even my exams are coming but… we won’t even talk for once?” Lisa replied.
He replied with a wicked smile, “Neah. Three month would be a long time but the longer you wait, the sweeter is the result.”
Lisa smiled but she knew she would break into tears any moment. She hugged him and held him tight.
“What happened?” he asked.
“We won’t talk for three month? We won’t meet anymore?” Lisa asked innocently.
He answered, “What do you think?”
“I love you” she said and was into tears.
“I love you too baby. I’m sorry, I was just joking.” Rishik replied.
He held her chin then, lifted her face and then kissed her. Lisa now drowned into the ocean of feelings was lost in his love. Their eyes met for once and then she closed her eyes and held him tight yet again. Maybe his arms were perfect for her, maybe the only place where she felt safe enough. The kiss then broke and her glittering eyes were no more able to see into his eyes, shy and blushing she buried her face.
He smiled and she smiled back. Holding hands they walked out and there began their new journey, the journey of love. It was the last day of the year, i.e, 31st of December, 2014 but the beginning of a new journey. Lisa wished for a happy ending to her year and it happened so. The last day of the year proved out to be the best day of her life.

“Happy New Year, Love.” Rishik texted Lisa.
Waking up to his text made her smile and with sleepy eyes she replied, “Happy New Year, Baby. I love you.”
Days passed by and their pre-finals approached. Exam time and the study time were kept aside and they had their own talking time. He would make sure to see her each possible day and that made her smile. Plans to meet after exams were being executed and they laughed while talking about that.
Exams ended and they finally met. The smile on her face knew nothing and kept of increasing and she hugged him. That was surely the “I-missed-you-so-much” hug.
The same old place (KFC) and the same old order (Brownie Sunday) was what the evening had in stored. Talking non-stop, getting lost into each other’s thoughts and smiling like fools were what they did. Turning out to be the cutest, everything seemed a fairy-tale.
Walking holding hands, she said, “Never leave me. I trust you more than I trust myself.”
Tightening the hold, he replied, “I’ll never leave you, I promise.”
“I love you so much” she said cutely and he replied, “I love you more.”
The evening turned out to be amazing for them. Shared each other’s past, cried and smiled, they fell in love all over again. Biding a goodbye was tough but it had to happened so that they could say hello once again, soon.
“Bye, meet soon.” She said.
“I love you.” Rishik replied.

It seems to be a fairy-tale. It was a fairy-tale. It will be so but no one knows what the latter has in store for them, the cute love birds.

Here the author has made the plot in a unique way and the story is uncommon. Rarely authors write such books and he is one of them. The story speaks for itself and wants to prove that India is not just a developing nation but even more than that which many people fail to understand and continue to criticize their very own motherland, their very own country.
The story is one of a kind and totally different. While reading the book one would get the patriotic feeling within them and enjoy it, even if you were the one criticizing your country some moment or the other. Here he has shown his love for his country which is never ending. He tries hard to make people realize that India is more than what we think, there are her own achievements which we need to see and stop pointing out the drawbacks and continue criticizing.
The main aim of the author here is to make the present generation realize about the progress India made in different areas over the last few years. Through this book, he leaves out a message for the youth about the steady growth of our nation.
The narration is done in a good way and the book is in easy English which stands out to be a plus point.
The title is catchy and leaves you to think what the story would be.
The cover depicts the plot of the story and is very appealing.
The blurb does its job and takes you on the short journey of the content of the book.
The book is unique in its own way.

On the cross roads I stand again,

with the photo of a happy life,

that I created long back.

The glance of your face made me happy,

now your thoughts make me cry,

was my decision not right to trust you?

Every night I curl up myself to the corner,

and I cry, I cry remembering those memories.

Sitting on the window panel,

I dream once again,

of us being happy like before.

Awaiting that kiss from you,

which would heal all my wounds,

sooner or later, life will be good.

Dressed in red, walking towards the bed,

I’ll then close my eyes, happily forever,
with the thought that once you were mine and I was yours.

For once I thought,

It’s going to be a new life, a new place..

Excited and happy,

I was eager to leave.

The excitement just lasted for a few days,

time flew soon and finally,

the last night at home was here.

With tears in her eyes she hugged me,

she was no stranger but my very own sister.

I never knew such a situation would come up,

I ended up crying myself then.

The next morning brought out the sun,

with new hopes.

My journey started towards my future,

and the next stop was Kolkata, the city of joys.

New place and new faces,

I was scared enough.

First day at college turned out to be magical,

new friends made.

Finally it was then time for my lifeline to leave.

I smiled and bid her a goodbye.

I never knew life would be so difficult without her,

I miss you here mummy.

I miss everything.

But I'm strong enough,

I’ll work hard and make you all proud,
fulfilling my dreams.

HASTY TASTY TWIST WITH WHITE SAUCE.

(Tasty and yummy, it was everything I wanted)

Del Monte India.

Pasta, my love. I love cooking, experimenting and then umm, eating as well (to a small extend). Seeing this contest on IndiBlogger I was like, “wow, here comes something I always wanted.” And before thinking anything, I registered for this. In a week’s time or a little more than that, I got my packet of pasta. The packet read “Del Monte Quality. Gourmet Pasta- Spirali.”

Yes finally I had my packet and I was to plan how to get myself done with the preparation thing. I wore my thinking cap and started thinking. I decided to keep it really simple and tasty. So without delaying any further, I guess I should start with my recipe or else this post is going to be a never ending one.

Ingredients needed-
1. Pasta (The main ingredient.)
2. Bell pepper/Capsicum (I got them in three colours, i.e, red, yellow and green.)
3. Broccoli (Only if you like it.)
4. Baby corn.
5. Sweet corn.
6. Olives (black or green, any would do.)
7. Salt.
8. Pepper.
9. Tomato sauce.
10. Cheese.
11. Oregano.
12. Olive oil.
13. Basil leaves.

(Use clean utensils. Health is first. Clean utensils keep you safe and sound.)
Chop the bell peppers/capsicums into the size of pasta. This looks pretty them.
Cut broccoli into single piece each.
Baby corn need to be chopped as well into the size of the pasta.
Chopped olives are already available in the market. I got them in green. You can get black olives as well.
You then need to boil the broccoli, baby corn and sweet corn. Keep the stock you get from them. It would be needed later.

Procedure- First boil the pasta; while boiling add a half teaspoon of salt and olive oil to the water. Keep on checking and when you feel like it's done then drain the water out of it and pour some cold water as well so that it doesn’t stick to each other. Now keep the boiled pasta aside.
Pour out some olive oil onto the frying pan n let it heat a bit. Then add the chopped bell peppers/capsicums. Let it get a bit softened, this doesn’t mean you’ll let it turn brown. When you feel like it’s done, then add the chopped broccoli, baby corn and sweet corn (already boiled before as mentioned above). Mix it well and leave it for 3 minutes. Then add olive, salt and pepper to it. Mix it well. Leave it for another 1 minute. Then add the vegetable stock and chopped basil leaves to it and keep mixing it. Cover it and let it steam for another 2 minutes. Add a bit of tomato sauce and mix it. Then add your pasta and there you are done with you pasta.

Garnish you pasta by grating some cheese on it and adding some basil leaves. Bake it and let the cheese melt. It did look yummy and you won’t be able to stop yourself from eating it then.

WHITE SAUCE.
Ingredients needed-
1. Milk.
2. Maida (All Purpose Flour) or bread crumbs.
3. Cheese.
4. Salt.
5. Pepper.
6. Tomato sauce.

Procedure- Add Maida or bread crumbs to milk and mix it well. Then heat it and stir it; add cheese into it and keep on mixing it well. Add a bit of salt and pepper for taste and tomato sauce as well. Soon you’ll seeing boils coming and it would become thicker. Keep stirring it and then turn off the stove.
You’re done with white sauce. Garnish it with basil leaves.
Quantity of ingredients added into it depends on the amount you make.

I made the whole packet of pasta and it was easily eaten by 6 people. Yummy and tummy filling. Give it a try once and you’ll love it. This has a plus point as well; it’s a full vegetarian dish. No onions and no garlic. This makes it much more special. Strict vegetarians can give a try to it and enjoy this dish. Easy to make and yummy to eat. What does one need then?

That new skirt,

“Mummy, buy me this skirt, please”,

she said.

To which her mother replied,

“later my dear, let’s leave.”

Walking on the floor,

towards the exit,

with tears.

She saw her mummy on the cash counter,

with a bag and paying the money.

Curious she was to know what was inside,

above all, she just wished it to be that pretty skirt.

Back to home and she opened the bag,

with happiness she sang.

It was that particular skirt,

and she was just waiting to wear it now.

She then wore it,

and then she was praised by her family.

Just that pretty little skirt.

DEVIL'S OWN AND THEM.

“Till when are you reaching CCD?” she messaged Ruhani.
“I’ll be there in 5 minutes. I’m coming with Harsh.” Reply Ruhani.
Her heart skipped a beat when she read the word “Harsh.” He was the guy she had a crush on and maybe he had a crush on Radhika as well.
She sat down on the chair and saw Ruhani and Harsh coming. Heart skipped a beat and she felt butterflies in her stomach.
“Hello.” Harsh forwarded his hand for a handshake.
“Hi.” Radhika replied and forwarded her hand for the handshake and then they sat.
“Devil’s own for all of us?” Harsh asked.
“Yes.” Radhika and Ruhani replied in unison.
They had their Devil’s own on the table and had a funny chat. Suddenly Radhika’s phone rang and in order to take her cellphone, she by mistake pushed Harsh’s glass and it fell on his jeans.
“I’m so so so sorry Harsh, it was just my mistake. I’m really very sorry.” Radhika panicked.
“Never mind yaar, it’s totally fine. This is nothing to panic about. Cool down.” Harsh replied and winked.
“Ahem ahem.” Ruhani coughed.
“Shut up Ruhani.” Radhika and Harsh said in unison this time and it was followed with laughter.
That simple “never mind” had so much to tell. It was not just a “never mind” but something full of affection.

A gloomy day is a day wasted and that day is never coming back once again. That day would come back next week, but that date would be different, the week will be different, the moment won’t be the same, the feeling won’t be same and then you’ll realize you simply wasted an amazing day just because you were sad. THAT SMALL GLIMPSE.

That small glimpse,

of the old pictures in the laptop,

and those cute memories.

Just a click away,

and the mouse brought out the best picture,

abandoned in that mysterious folder,

“just me and my dad”,

which was never opened by anyone.

Those pictures told a story,

the story of her crying soul,

and showed the reality,

how much she missed her dad.

Again tears were in her eyes,

and she ended up crying.

“I miss you dad”

she said and closed her eyes.

BEST FRIENDS.

1st August; 2015.
He was on his way back to home from school. He saw people buying friendship bands from the roadside stalls. Seeing them buying the bands he was unable to stop himself and rushed to the shop and brought a few very good friendship bands. He held those friendship bands and had a big smile on his face. He rushed back to home and threw his bag and went to his room.
He then freshened up and started making the friendship day card for his only best friend. He tried his best to make it the best card.

2nd August; 2015.
It was 12 at night and he rushed to the hospital. Everyone was shocked seeing him do so, but he didn’t care.
He rushed into the hospital and went inside the cabin and shouted,
“HAPPY FRIENDSHIP DAY KAVYA”
and ran and hugged her.
Kavya was Rishav’s only best friend and he could do anything to make this day special for her. He tied the band on her hand and gave her the card. She was in tears and she replied, “Thank you so much dumbo for this surprise. I love you.”
And then they enjoyed and laughed and celebrated their friendship day happily.

“Some friends are good, some are just friends, but you can have only a very few best friends. Having a best friend is a blessing.”
