What astounds me is the clarity of the memory--and if it isn't clear at first, how amazing the mind is to find that 35 year old memory--&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
For me today it was Turkish Barley Buttermilk Soup--I couldn't remember how to make it, it's been years and years--I had the name of the book my mom originally had made it from, all I could remember was it had a planet on it--I just kept visualizing in my head that planet (whether it really has a planet or not it helped me come up with the title) Diet For A Small Planet!!&amp;nbsp; I used to hate that book, mom was always sticking soybeans into everything...LOL&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
They have it on Kindle now, can ya believe it?&amp;nbsp; SO yes, I downloaded it and also found the recipe online...so this weekend&amp;nbsp; I am making it--my other question is I wonder if I can substitute Quinoa for the barley.....&lt;br /&gt;
Will add a picture after I actually make it--I am going to use my homemade yogurt as well in place of the buttermilk--see how it goes :) &lt;br /&gt;

&lt;b&gt;Turkish Barley-Buttermilk Soup (From Diet For A Small Planet)&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style="font-family: verdana, arial; font-size: x-small;"&gt;(Makes 4 Servings)Saute in heavy pot until golden:&lt;br /&gt;oil, as needed&lt;br /&gt;2 lg. onions, chopped&lt;br /&gt;
Add and stir until lightly toasted:&lt;br /&gt;1 cup barley&lt;br /&gt;
When onion is well browned, add:&lt;br /&gt;5 cups seasoned stock&lt;br /&gt;
Have ready: &lt;br /&gt;2 cups buttermilk or plain yogurt&lt;br /&gt;1 tsp. dill&lt;br /&gt;butter&lt;br /&gt;------------------------------------&lt;br /&gt;Cook until barley is well done--about &lt;br /&gt;45 minutes-1 hour (or 25 min. in a&lt;br /&gt;pressure cooker). Remove from heat, &lt;br /&gt;let cool a bit, and add the buttermilk&lt;br /&gt;slowly aand more stock if too thick.&lt;br /&gt;Sprinkle in dill to taste and butter.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;span style="font-family: verdana, arial; font-size: x-small;"&gt;I didn't have Barley or buttermilk so this is what I made :)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style="font-family: verdana, arial; font-size: x-small;"&gt;3/4 C Quinoa&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style="font-family: verdana, arial; font-size: x-small;"&gt;1 large Onion Chopped ( I used a red one from my garden)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style="font-family: verdana, arial; font-size: x-small;"&gt;Sautee Onion in oil as needed until golden, add quinoa, sautee for a minute or so&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style="font-family: verdana, arial; font-size: x-small;"&gt;Then add 5 Cups stock--Vegetable, Beef or Chicken whatever you prefer&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style="font-family: verdana, arial; font-size: x-small;"&gt;Cook for about 445 minutes or until the Quinoa is translucent in the middle and you can see the outer ring.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style="font-family: verdana, arial; font-size: x-small;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;
&lt;span style="font-family: verdana, arial; font-size: x-small;"&gt;Remove cover, let cool a little then add 2C non fat unflavored yogurt, stir in and add more stock if too thick.&amp;nbsp; Spinkle in dill to taste, add butter if you wish.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

Peanut Butter Vi Power Bars&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Ingredients:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;div class="text_exposed_show"&gt;
1 cup dates&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
1/4 cup water&lt;br /&gt;
1/4 cup natural peanut butter, smooth or crunchy&lt;br /&gt;
1/4 cup ground flaxseeds (2 tbsp whole) (Or use Chia Seed)&lt;br /&gt;
1 cup &lt;a href="http://www.premiumhealth.bodybyvi.com/challenge" target="_blank"&gt;Vi Shape&lt;/a&gt; Protein &lt;br /&gt;
1/8 tsp sea salt&lt;br /&gt;
1/2 cup dried apricots, diced&lt;br /&gt;
1/2 cup Grape-Nuts cereal, divided (Or Steel Oats)&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Instructions:&lt;br /&gt;
In a food processor, blend together dates and water.&lt;br /&gt;
Add peanut butter and process until smooth, adding more water as needed.&lt;br /&gt;
Add Vi Shape, flaxseeds and salt and process to combine 
thoroughly. Add apricot pieces and half of the Grape-Nuts. Pulse just 
enough to incorporate them into the mixture.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Place a two-foot-long 
piece of wax paper in an eight-by-eight-inch dish, with half of the wax 
paper hanging over the edge. Pour mixture into dish. Use the wax paper 
to press the mixture evenly in the pan. For best results, place in 
freezer for one hour to firm. Cut into eight pieces. Roll each piece in 
the remaining cereal to coat evenly. Wrap individually and refrigerate

Reading
 this quote this morning really convicted me--how often we approach our 
outside worlds through the filters of our inside world--the feelings 
inside us--about ourselves--color our perceptions of other people and 
situations. These feelings then feed on one another and grow--being 
intolerant of others' shortcomings that we see in ourselves causes us to
 become even more angry--it is cyclic--some of us can easily turn the 
anger inward at ourselves while others lash out at others and don't 
appear to have the introspection needed to look within and make change. 
Neither is an emotionally healthy place to be.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Change always begins with BEING, not DOING------&lt;br /&gt;
BE the person you want to become--&lt;br /&gt;
if you want love, BE loving&lt;br /&gt;
if you want peace, BE peaceful&lt;br /&gt;
if you want good friends, BE a good friend&lt;br /&gt;
if you want joy, BE joyful&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
and the list goes on---&lt;br /&gt;
this principle of life is so true---&lt;br /&gt;
who
 when they are bitter and angry are happy? One can SAY they want to be

&amp;nbsp;Planning out my day's food and &lt;i&gt;exercise&lt;/i&gt; strategy knowing I have a 7 hour round trip drive I committed to make--I said I would do it and I need to do what I say consistently not just when it's easy.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Sitting here I thought about the story with the pennies--how it is better to be given/save a penny doubled every day rather than a million dollars all at once.&amp;nbsp; Losing weight, getting healthier is the same kind of thing.&amp;nbsp; We make small changes, make deposits into our "&lt;b&gt;health&lt;/b&gt; bank account" every day by the choices and decisions we make. At first it may not look like its moving along and we question our decisions, our plan, our goal--it is those small focused consistent daily actions that create the habit and create the life/health/weight we want--I loved reading &lt;b&gt;Darren Hardy's&lt;/b&gt; book &lt;a href="http://www.squidoo.com/rollinguniversity" target="_blank"&gt;"The Compound Effect" &lt;/a&gt;because this is exactly what happens--in everything you want to be successful at-relationships are no different.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
I have been focused on the idea of &lt;i&gt;transformation &lt;/i&gt;now for a week, really delving into what I want to change--I want to be happy.&amp;nbsp; That sounds so simple, yet so complex.&amp;nbsp; Finding what makes you happy is just as much of an "exercise" as determining your goals and plans for your life.&amp;nbsp; If you haven't already, you have got to read &lt;a href="http://www.squidoo.com/rollinguniversity" target="_blank"&gt;"Get Happy Now"&lt;/a&gt; &amp;nbsp; then click on the title here, these two books are at the top of my "Hot Summer Reading" list this month.&lt;br /&gt;

LUNCH-Magazine Debut/Challenge Party-sampled shakes, the equivelant of one shake with 1/2 cup fruit and and 1/8th of a banana, unsweetened flaxmilk&lt;br /&gt;

DINNER: rice tortilla, 1 slice LF Cheddar cheese 2 oz sliced turkey 1/4 C homemade avocado Salsa&lt;br /&gt;

Since I have about 250 calories left ( I didn't eliminate the exercise calories--that day may come) I plan to eat some more turkey with avocado salsa sans the tortilla with a little cheese--that should bring me right where I need to be&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
So I had actually 3 shakes today and 2 meals. Having had GBSx, my meals are what for a lot of people are their snacks or "light" meals--The shakes are definitely my friend-quality protein low calorie low fat.&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;

originally from NJ but currently coming to you from Kingman Arizona. I 
was introduced to the Challenge by Cheryl Ables back in April 2012 and I
 am so grateful for that moment in time.&amp;nbsp; This is my second 90 day challenge, you can watch my &lt;a data-mce-href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1oiSqO62PY" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1oiSqO62PY" title="first video"&gt;first video &lt;/a&gt;for the results but I’ll briefly recap it here.&amp;nbsp; I
 started my first challenge off with a sense of excitement but 
skepticism as well-I mean I have addressed these same issues time after 
time after time. I have been overweight my entire life- I even went to 
the lengths of having gastric bypass surgery in 2002—I lost 160# and got
 down to 178# (for a day), over time my weight steadily creeped up –yo 
yo’d, in essence nothing is really different then before the surgery, I 
am just at a smaller place.&amp;nbsp; Losing weight is tough but keeping it off is even harder.&amp;nbsp; I honestly thought at that time that once I had the surgery and lost weight, this “issue” would go away. &amp;nbsp;In my first 90 days, I lost 20# and met my goal of reaching the rank of Regional Director.&amp;nbsp; So
 today is a new day! My challenge goal is to lose 30# and exercise to 
decrease my body fat % which in my mind means I decrease fat and improve
 lean muscle, increasing my overall health.&amp;nbsp; I will be 
using the Transformation kit which means I will be replacing 2 meals a 
day with the Vi Shakes and eating one healthy meal.&amp;nbsp; Because
 of my altered stomach, I will also have two small snacks between shakes
 to avoid a drop in my blood sugar. As my exercise increases, I plan to 
add a recovery ViShake after exercise, just water and Vi Shape.&lt;/div&gt;

lot of spots although my lower body is what I visually focus on—I know

Congratulations to the newest  5-Star Ambassador in our glorious community Tina Hockmuth and Ken Hockmuth!!  As told by Rachel Jackson:  Ken and Tina's journey with Vi started just 8 months ago where she was weeks away from delivering her 4th child, facing financial devastation including foreclosure while owning failing construction business in Iowa. Bringing her industry experience, although her income never capped a few thousand a month - Tina knew that with belief and hard work ANYTHING was possible. They were the 5th star that came in on OUR RUN that we never expected...and now blowing through the ranks... popping stars &amp;amp; cars like popcorn. I am very proud of them.

 

Just 8 months later, a business doing nearly a $1m a month in sales, producing Ambassadors like it's FUNNY - and making over $45,000 a month ... Holy freaking cramoly! Talk about a LIFE changing. Now Ken is retiring from construction, they are traveling the country spreading good news and the Vi Life fever!!!

The heckler said to him, "You guys come and get people all hyped up and then you leave and the motivation goes away. It doesn't last, and we're left having to get motivated again." &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Zig reminded the gentleman that having a shower is pretty much the same principle - but we think it is a good idea to take a bath everyday! We've got to top up our motivation if we want to feel Fired Up. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is our responsibility - not our bosses, not our clients, not our partner, not our companies - ours. You've heard the expression, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink". That's exactly the same here. Your company could have loads of great incentives, you could have the best boss ever, an awesome partner - but these things in themselves don't motivate you. It has to come from you. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Last week I talked about the sticky actions you can take to move forward on your goal. Small, simple actions you can identify over the course of week and WOW! Before you know it, you've got lots of options and ideas you can try out to get moving on your goal.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Goal setting is one of the most misunderstood topics within the area of personal development. Most people think goals should be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timebound). The trouble is, as soon as we start to think "How can I make this a realistic goal?", we lose the inspiration we have about it. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Inspiration is not realistic. It comes from deep down inside of us and it is scary!!! Michelangelo said, "The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark." I love that - and it also scares me witless! Because I don't want to fail! However, I've noticed that, whenever I re-align my goals and make them more "realistic" - whatever that means - they become so much harder to achieve. Much harder. Because I'm not as fired up about them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In a strange way, it's easier to get what you really want than what you think you can have, if that makes sense. For example, we look at our previous achievements and say, "OK. Last year I earned (x). So this year, I reckon I can make (y)." Or, "Last time it took me (x) weeks to finish that project. So this time it'll take me (y)." And we +/- it by around 10%. All very logical, or very blaaaaahhhh. Michael Neill calls the goals that really tickle us and fire us up our "Wow" goals. I know I've got them. Here's just a few:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I want to take my little girl to 5 new cities across the world every year, to drink in the culture and experience&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I want to take a month off and fly with my husband and daughter to Australia and New Zealand and hook up with old friends and family &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I want to learn to ski and have a skiing holiday each year&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I want to have a personal 1:1 relationship with 100 new people each year over and above my usual client base, who have chosen to work with me in order to feel more Fired Up about their work and life&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So how am I going to make all that happen? I have absolutely no idea! But what I do know is - the goals make me tingle. The thought of getting even ONE city visit a year makes me excited, never mind five! Don't let your past history, or past experience limit you. Feeling more Fired Up has got to start with you.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;YOUR FIRED UP ACTION THIS WEEK:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So what do you want? What do you really, really want?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Write it down! Say it out loud! Own it! And just enjoy the journey of discovery of how you might get there. What's the worst thing that could happen? You might fail. How likely is that to happen?
