The June rankings from CAMO are out, showing us who's who in the Ammy California MMA ranks. These rankings reflect all fights under CAMO sanctioning through the end of May. Next month's rankings will form the basis for seeding in the Statewide Championship tournament, which means fights in June are your last chance to get ranked if you want to compete in the Statewide. Below we breakdown major moves by Northern California fighters and the impact of results from local shows.

In the Heavyweight ranks, undefeated Thomas Fallon (4-0) enters the rankings at #8, with his latest win over Terrell Bosen at West Coast Fighting Championship in May.

Aaron Mathis (4-2) enters the Crusierweight ranks at #7 with a win over Paul Porter at Up and Comers 15.

Anthony Hernandez (6-0) jumps into the Middleweight ranks at #6 with his win over former #7 ranked Eric Smith at WCFC 5. Smith drops to #9 on the loss.

Paradise Vaovasa (7-2) moves up six spots to #4 in Welterweight by beating Alexander Lopez at the latest Dragon House show. Lopez falls three spots to #9 after the defeat.

Manuel Ruiz (4-0-1) comes into the rankings at Flyweight #3 with his latest win at 559 Fights 13 over Ronald Henderson.

In the women's ranks Michelle Gamma (2-1) enters at #10 following her win over Karla Gonzalez-Santoyo at Central Coast Throwdown in May. Cynthia Calvillo (5-0) stays undefeated and keeps her #3 ranking with a Spit Decision win over Justine Estrada at the very same same show.

For the now-important July rankings look for results from Titans Cage 5, 559 Fight 14 and upcoming June shows from MMA Fight Day, Showdown in Surftown, and World Combat Series for how the ranks will shake out for tournament.

New fight promotion Arise FC made its debut with action-packed card featuring both MMA and Kickboxing fights. And we at Questionable Stoppage were on it. Dramatic main event as James Terry takes on Mike De La Torre and Jeremiah Labiano faces a stiff test from Keith Carson. Read on for all the action.

Billy Xayaranh and Mohammed Khan got the action started with a kickboxing match. The fighters matched each other blow for blow, but Khan connected with far more accuracy to claim the Unanimous Decision win.

Sekona Taai took on Lamont Green. Green used his range to build an early lead, hitting with both punches and kicks from outside. Taai stormed back late in the fight, pounding away from inside, and was able to eak out the Split Decision.

Rafael Mongfort spent three rounds battering Alex Quenneville around the ring to claim the Unanimous Decison victory, 30-27 on all three cards.

Switching to MMA rules, Josh Berkovic took on Sam Garret. The two start out circling, throwing jabs, Garret throws out a high kick but slips, and Berkovic jumps on him right away. Berkovic works some ground and pound from guard before taking Garrets back in a scramble and then finishing with a Rear Naked Choke.

Next Jeremiah Labiano took on Keith Carson. Carson who had a great run as amateur, including a CAMO State Title, was able to match the notoriously fast Labiano's hand speed as the two traded jabs and leg kicks. Carson was also able to stuff a pair of Labiano takedown attempts for an event first round. Labiano launches a high kick to start the second round. Carson catches the kick and takes Labiano to the ground. But Labiano grabs a tight guillotine choke off his back. Carson fights hard, working back to his feet, but is forced to tap. Labiano wins by Submission, 0:19 of the Second Round.

Switching back to kickboxing, Lawrence Ward took on Sonny Singh. Singh would move forward with punch combos, while Ward came back with a straight right hand right down the pipe. Ward edges out the Split Decision.

Eric Luna-Travis Clay was a fast-paced fight, with both fighters landing blows, but Luna's strikes consistently looking more effective throughout the fight. Luna claims the Unanimous Decision.

In the Main Event of the Night, Strikeforce vet James Terry took on Ben Henderson's The Lab product Mike De La Torre in a MMA Lightweight bout. Terry scored first blood dropping De La Torre with his first punch, a wild overhand right. De La Torre works his way back to the feet, but is wobbly and looks in serious trouble. But as the fighters trade punches again, its Terry who takes a clean shot to the jaw and goes down. De La Torre jumps on the fallen Terry and is able to lock in the Rear Naked Choke. Dramatic win for De La Torre, who wins by Submission, 0:57 of the First Round.

Following the main event, additional kickboxing matching were held:

Janathan Tang defeated Igor Golovin by Unanimous Decision.

Thai Ngam Le defeated Theora Cinnino by Unanimous Decision.

Jerome Peirce defeated James Appleberry by Head Kick KO, 1:52 of Round Two.

Ryan Barnadio defeated Mike Sanchez by Split Decision.

Arise FC promises more events in the future. Check with Questionable Stoppage for all the coming action.

Kickboxing action returned to the Jackson Rancheria Casino as fighters from all over Northern California gathered to test themselves. Lots of fighters getting their first taste of action at ten fighters on the card were making their Muay Thai debut. The Casino was an excellent host, keeping the crowd in water on one of the hottest days of the summer so far.

It cooled off after the sun went down, but the fight action stayed hot and heavy long into the night.

In the opening bout Star Monroe edged out Erin Fong in a close-fought afair with Monroe showing better kicks and a strong base in the clench.

Greg Wegman took on Idrees Wasi at the 190 pound limit. Wasi off to a strong start, showing excellent power in his hands. Wegman rallied later in the fight, doing his damage in the clench with elbows and knees. Wegman takes the Unanimous Decision.

Chris Marak had a strong finish against Cristobel Hernandez, landing a series of punch combos a the end to seal a Unanimous Decision victory.

Fast paced action between Kamau Hill and Dann Arandia at 135 pounds. Arandia build his lead with sharp work in the clench landing elbow and knees. Hill stormed back in round three, pressing the action with punches, but had too much ground to make up. Arandia wins by Unanimous Decision.

Early in the Jasper Figueroa-Jacob Ycaro fight, Figueroa landed a low blow, which just seemed to get Ycaro attention, as Ycaro got a knockdown before putting Figueroa down for good with punches. Ycaro by TKO 1:13 of the First Round.

Gary Bassi opened his fight against Anwar Pak with a great-looking right hook knockdown. Pak looked better in the next two rounds, but Bassi held out for a Split Decision.

A toe-to-toe slugging match between Jeremy Dang and Chris Milan saw Milan pull out the Split Decision.

Good match-up between Nori Lim and Day Day Davis saw Lim's technique and speed against Davis's power and aggression. Lim edges out the Split Decision.

Jimmy Machado was in control of his fight with Phil Devera, landing punch combos and dumping Devera on his ass repeatedly after catching his kicks. Machado wins by Unanimous Decision.

Andrew Capurro took on Carlos Galvan for the GMT 142 pound title. Two well-matched fighters with elusive fighting styles ment not many strikes were landed. Galvan takes the decision and the Title mainly on the strength of making Capurro miss.

The main event feature a Pro Muay Thai match between Bounthong Syvanthong and TJ Arcangle. Arcangle, who with that name I'm sure moonlights as a masked crimefighter, controlled the match for all three rounds, primarily with a variety of kicks. Arcangle wins by Unanimous Decision.

Fight Video Friday

Here's the Main Event from Titan's Cage 5, Angelo Trevino vs Robert Payne:

The best amateur MMA contenders in Nor-Cal can be found at Titans Cage and Saturday night they got to prove who was greatest. Great night for Team Alpha Male as the Urijah Faber-lead fight team went 4-0 on the night. Lovely ladies from Left Coast Girls and a slew of exciting fights made for a great night of entertainment. Lets recap the action.

Chris White get the action started, dropping Mel Oania with a punch and finishing with brutal punches from mount. And caps off his night by proposing to his girlfriend. My sources say she said yes. White by TKO 0:35 of the very first round.

Jayson Lyons took on Leo Bracamonte at Light Heavyweight. Lyons did damage in the first round on the ground. The second round saw Bracamonte dive in for a takedown, Lyons defended and unloaded punches on the head of Bracamonte. It appeared like the finishing punch was to the back of the head, but the fight was announced as a TKO win for Lyons.

Jason Cortez made quick work of Rashawn Waffer, flying in for a takedown, working away from side control before finishing with an arm triangle.

Paul Sabala claimed the TC Middleweight Title with a Decision Win over Kevin Wiley. Sabala looked good in open stand-up exchanges, Wiley tried to work the inside clench game. Wiley also picked up a collection of foul warnings, including an eye poke, a low blow, and spiking his foe into the cage, which is the first time Questionable Stoppage has ever seen that. Sabala wins by Unanimous Decision.

Kacey Sanders goes for the takedown to open again Travis Reich in their Light Heavyweight tilt. Reich keeps his feet under him and locks up the guillotine choke. Sanders takes a brief nap. Reich wins in the first round by Submission.

Samual Alvarez pulls guard against Van Jones, and eventually works into a triangle choke. Jones tries to hold out for the bell, but runs out of air. Alvarez wins by Submission, 1:34 of the first round.

In a 145 pound Title Match Roque Reyes took on Joseph Morales. Reyes stayed committed to his takedown, but couldn't control Morales on the ground, getting swept in all three round. After a Reyes took a lot of damage in the second round, his corner threw in the towel in the third round. Morales takes the win and the Title.

Very even match between Rafael Hernandez and Dao Tep at Flyweight. Hernandez was looking for the takedown for all three rounds, but Tep would not go down. The two fighters wrestling neutralised each other, with most of the fight spent pressed up the cage in the clench. Tep finally got some space to work in the third round and showed good striking, but kicks and punches. Hernandez edges out the Split Decision in a fight that easily could have been scored the other way.

Light Heavyweight battle between Vincent Bordi and Oscar Castro. Bordi set the pace, looking for the takedowns. Castro was able to sprawl, and once down, was able to escape back to the feet, but he ate a whole lot of punches in the process. Bordi wins by Unanimous Decision.

A battle of undefeated fighters as Robert Payne (3-0) challenged Angelo Trevino (5-0) for the Titans Cage Welterweight Title. In the first round it takes a lot of doing, but Trevino finally gets his man to the ground and starts up with the ground and pound. Payne escapes back to the feet to end the round. Payne starts strong in the second, landing leg kicks and punches, but Trevino drags him down and works him over on the ground. In the third round Trevino land a nifty punch combo coming out of the clench. Payne goes down, Trevino jumps on his back and finishes with a Rear Naked Choke. Trevino keeps his Title, his spotless record, and likely his #1 ranking in the State at Welterweight.

Things we learned at Art of War: Cortney looks absolutely adorable in camouflage. A promotion really can do 21 fights in a single night if they really put their mind to it. A weird-looking fighting style will hurt you with the judges.

A great night of action at the Chicken Ranch. Kelly McGill gets her first real test. Buddy Wallace, Blake Watkins, Lamar Reed all notch impressive victories. Hearts broken and brains rattled. All the fight below.

Amateur Fights

Alex Smith defeats Cory Smith by Unanimous Decision after controlling the fight on the ground.

Ernie Lopez defeats Ashur Isha with a slick Rear Naked Choke Submission at 0:46 of Round One.

JJ Mardrid defeats Justine Lavender by Submission (Guilotine Choke) at 1:40 of Round One.

Alfonso Perez and Mike Tubera Draw.

Cesar Gomez defeats Cody Goodes by TKO (Strikes on the Ground) 1:13 of Round One.

Marion Geronimo defeat Jacob Westhoven by TKO (Strikes on the Ground) 0:40 of Round One.

Allen Ybara defeats Edgar Sandoval by Unanimous Decision.

Cynthia Bunuelos defeats Denise Bruckner by TKO (Strikes on the Ground) 0:27 of Round Two. After working over Bruckner from side control in Round One, Bunuelos gets the hip-toss takedown and finished with punches from mount.

Mike Jon defeats Tyrelle Tucker by Submission (Rear Naked Choke) 1:55 of Round Two.

Britt Lipincot defeats Kyles Burks by Unanimous Decision.

Mike Thurman defeats Nick Hammond by TKO, 1:07 of the Third Round.

Victor Remeriz defeats Lloyd Mathiesen with better boxing, scoring the TKO win at 1:29 of Round One.

Luis Jauregui defends his Ammy Lightweight Title against Sandor Escobar with a Unanimous Decision, dominating the action on the ground.

Kelly McGill took on Amber Tackett for the AoW Women's Flyweight Title. Tackett had the advantage on the feet, boxing well and moving in and out. A different story on the ground, as McGill maintained dominate position and worked hard for submission. Tackett somehow held out against several armbars and a triangle choke. McGill finished strong, throwing punches from mount, and was able to claim the Split Decision and a shiny new belt.

Professional Fights

Mike Ryan and Robert Breslin got the Pro action started at 160 pounds. Breslin has what I can only call an eccentric stance and fighting style and it cost him on the scorecards. He clearly out-struck Ryan, mostly with kicks and landed some takedowns. Ryan stuffed Breslin's takedown late in the fight, but didn't mount much offence but is able to claim the Split Decision due to Breslin's awkward style.

Anthony Bivins took on Pat Silva at 170 pounds. Bivins looked in control for most of the fight, keeping at a distance and throwing a variety of kicks, but late in the third round Silva connects with a punch and hurts Bivins badly and forces the stoppage. Silva by TKO, Round Three.

Blake Watkins took on Nathan Schindler at Light Heavyweight. Both fighters start off slugging, then Watkins stuns Schindler with a flying knee. Schindler goes down, tries grabbing for a leg, but Watkins stays on him, landing punches to head and forces the finish. Watkins wins by TKO, 0:30 of Round One.

Sergio Vasquez edges out a split decision over Adam Corrigan, likely stealing the fight with takedowns in the third round.

Ray Cervera scores the early takedown on Steven Cartwright. Cartwright tries to roll out, but gives up his back. Cervera tries for the Rear Naked Choke, but Cartwright fights it off and is able to reverse positions. Cervera comes back with a Triangle Choke and locks it solid. Cervera wins by Submission, 2:18 of Round One.

Eloy Garza battled Steve Lara as two top-ranked amateurs turn pro. A stand-up battle almost the whole way, Garza had a small but real advantage on the feet and wanted to keep it there, fending off Lara's Takedown attempts. Garza adds to his highlight real, landing a spinning backfist in Round Two and claiming the Split Decision victory.

Lamar Reed makes quick work of Tyrone Maxey, catching a high kick and putting his man down against the cage. Reed then locks up a Guillotine Choke. Maxey is on his knees, press against the cage, has no out and is forced to tap. Reed by Submission, 0:31 of Round One.

The main event saw Team Alpha Male's DJ Robinson take on Buddy Wallace of Last Stand Fight Team. Wallace showed good strikes early, backing Robinson back before grabbing a takedown. Wallace works into mount, but Robinson cage-walks and escapes to feet. Wallace with a trip takedown, takes the back and finishes the fight with a Rear Naked Choke. The End. Wallace wins by Submission, 2:39 of Round One.

Art of War returns August 3rd Buddy Wallace tries to win back his Welterweight title from Robert "Kamikaze" Ballard. Justin Smitley vs Justin Farmer for Featherweight title, plus a slew of WMMA match-ups. See you there.

While not wishing them to be present at sentencing hearing, Rosenthal is grateful for the support that his fans have already shown. "The support they (his fans) have showed me through messages and posts has been immense and meant a lot me and my family. "

For what it is worth, Questionable Stoppage continues to urge leniency on behalf of Mr. Rosenthal, not only for the sake of him and his family, but also for the continued success and safety of the sport of Mixed Martial Arts.

Introducing the Questionable Store!

PLEASE SEE NEW STORY, BASED ON STATEMENT FROM ROSENTHAL.

Well-known MMA Referee Josh Rosenthal is facing sentencing in a marijuana distribution case and his camp is hoping fans will attend and support Rosenthal at the courthouse.

Last year, an Oakland warehouse co-owned by Rosenthal was raided by Federal Agents who found over 1,300 marijuana plants with an estimated street value of over six million dollars. In January, Rosenthal plead guilty to conspiracy to manufacture and distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute as part of plea deal agreement. He now faces sentencing on May 17 at the US District Court in Oakland, CA. The government is recommending that he receive 37 months in jail, fines and five years of probation. If convicted, he would face up to 10 years in prison.

The final decision for sentencing lies with the judge in the case, who takes into account the government recommendation as well as other factors. According to sources close to the Rosenthal Camp, his defense team believes that a show of support by fans would be a positive influence on the Judge. They are calling for friends, supporters and fans of Rosenthal to be present at the Courthouse when Rosenthal is sentenced. The sentencing is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Friday, May 17th at the US District Court, 1301 Clay Street‎ Oakland, CA 94612.

Rosenthal has long been regarded as one of the top referees in the sport of MMA and has presided over a large number of high-profile UFC fights over the years, as well as appearing at Northern California Regional shows. It is the editorial position of Questionable Stoppage that it would be in the best interests of the sport of MMA that Josh Rosenthal serve the least amount of time possible.

Fight Report: West Coast FC 5

The premier promotion of Northern California MMA circuit returned to action Friday night with no less than 15 fights in all. A giant former airplane hanger at McClellan AFB played host to the action. A large crowd, a variety of exciting stoppages, and QS's 2012 Ring Girl of the Year Lauren Monday on the cards made things very hot. No, I really mean hot. I dripped sweat all over my notes.

The main event saw a five-round war between Kito Andrews and Max Griffin, with Griffin reclaiming his WCFC Welterweight Title. The night also saw stand-out performance from Team Alpha Male products Andre Fili and Adrian Diaz and the surprise reveal of Justine Baesman's ground game. Full results below.

Amature Fights

Sammy Gifford edged out Roque Reyes in a three-round wrestling match Split Decision with scores of 29-28, 28.5-29, and 29-28.

Thomas Fallon really did "smash" Terrell Bosen, dropping his man with a punch and finishing with strikes on the ground. Fallon by TKO, 1:31 of the first.

Benito Lopez took on Michael Hutchins in a Ammy 135 Title fight. Hutchins caught a Lopez high kick and took his man down, but Lopez immediately began looking for submission. Hutchin fought off the first armbar and triangle choke try, but not the second armbar. Lopez wins by Submission, 1:31 of Round One.

Eric Smith had a strong first round against Anthony Hernandez in their 185 Ammy Title match, putting Hernandez down repeatably with suplexes. But in the second round Hernandez locked up an armbar to end the fight. Hernandez wins by Submission, 0:43 of the Second Round.

Professional Fights

Juan Quesada gave Antoine Smith a good working over on the ground with punches and elbows before finishing with a Rear Naked Choke. Quesada by Submission, 3:43 of the Second Round.

Ryan Williams punched out Kory Morford at 1:21 of the First Round.

Jordan Bailey tagged Anthony Charnell with right hand early, followed up on the ground with mount and a Guilotine Choke. Bailey by Submission, 1:42 of the First Round.

Both Nick Christy and Richard Rigmaden came to scrap, the fighters moved in and out of clench, firing ill-intentioned punches at each other. Christy found the "Off" switch first, knocking out Rigmaden with an overhand right. Christy wins by KO, 2:07.

Questionable Stoppage (Name Drop!) in the Daniel Romero-Art Becerra fight. A couple of punches from Romero and Becerra was down and the fight called. Becerra protests, but the result stands, Romero by KO, 0:07 of the very first round.

Mario Soto and Charley Huston traded takedowns, with Soto ended up on Huston's back after a takedown and scramble. Soto ends thinks with a Rear Naked Choke. Soto wins by Submission, 4:35

Lewis Gonzalez and Emmanuel Sanchez were even on the feet in their match, the difference came on the mat, as Gonzalez ground up Sanchez from top position with elbows and punches. Judges score it 30-27 for Gonzalez on all three scorecards.

Justine Baesman took on Mickhail Venikov in a 170 pound Title-Eliminator fight. Venikov pressed forward, looking for the takedown and leg kicks, while Baesman stayed light on his feet, winging high kicks at Venikov. In the second round Venikov seems to have Baesman where he wants him, moving from mount to back control and threatening with a Rear Naked Choke. Baesman unleashes a previously-unseen ground game, not only escaping the bad spot, but sweeping Venikov and locking in a Rear Naked Choke of his own. Baesman wins by Submission, 2:34 of Round Two.

Anthony Avila took on Shad Smith for the WCFC Lightweight Title. The fighters start off trading jabs. The fight goes to the ground, with Avila on Smith's back. Avila picks up Smith and slams him down in dramatic fashion. Avila stays on the back and pounds out Smith. Avila wins by TKO, 3:52 and has a shiny new belt.

Andre Fili defends his 145 WCFC Title against Adrian Diaz. Fili was aggressive early, pressing forward with his jab. Diaz looked to counter, and landed went Fili slipped or left himself open. A late takedown in the first and Fili almost ends things with a RNC, with Diaz save by the bell. The second round again mostly staying on the feet, with the right eye of Diaz showing damage from Fili's jab. In the third round Fili put together the strikes he'd been looking for the entire fight, stunning Diaz with a head kick, following up with a punch combo and a flurry of strikes on the ground to end the fight. Fili wins by TKO, 1:29 of the Third Round to retain his Featherweight Title.

The main event saw Kito Andrews and Max Griffin settle their feud in a battle for the 170 pound title. This stayed a stand-up affair for most all of the five rounds, as both men sought to prove themselves with their stand-up game. Griffin was the aggressor, moving forward and throwing a variety of strikes. Andrews looked to counter with a loaded-up right hand. Griffin probably came closest to finishing the fight at the end of the first round. Both fighters slowed in later rounds, but Andrews was clearly gassed, dropping his hands and slowing his pace. Andrews still landed power punches that hurt Griffin and had almost completely closed his eyes by the end of the fight, but couldn't follow-up with Griffin either clenching up or evading away. In the end, Griffin's aggression and volume of strikes won the day on the scorecards, 50-45, 50-47, and 50-45.
