Nokia 808 PureView best mobile of 2012

2012-07-28T02:03:00.000-07:00

The Nokia 808 PureView is a Nokia Belle powered smartphone, first unveiled on 27 February 2012 at the Mobile World Congress. It is the first smartphone to feature Nokia's PureView technology, a pixel oversampling technique that reduces an image taken at full resolution into a lower resolution picture, thus achieving higher definition and light sensitivity, and enables lossless zoom.

It features a 41 megapixel 1/1.2" sensor and a high resolution f/2.4 Zeiss all-aspherical 1-group lens. The 808's sensor was the largest and highest resolution sensor in a cameraphone at the time of its launch, a record previously held by Nokia's N8, sporting a sensor 2.5 times larger than that of its predecessor.

The 808 won the award for "Best New Mobile Handset, Device or Tablet" at Mobile World Congress 2012, and the award for Best Imaging Innovation for 2012 from the Technical Image Press Association.

Pure view Pro camera

PureView Pro is an imaging technology used in the Nokia 808 PureView device. It is the combination of a 1/1.2" large, very high resolution 41Mpix image sensor with high performance Carl Zeiss optics. The large sensor enables pixel oversampling, which means the combination of many sensor pixels into one image pixel. PureView imaging technology delivers high image quality, lossless zoom, and improved low light performance (see below). It dispenses with the usual scaling/interpolation model of digital zoom used in virtually all smartphones, as well as optical zoom used in most digital cameras, where a series of lens elements moves back and forth to vary the magnification and field of view. In both video and stills, this technique provides greater zoom levels as the output picture size reduces, enabling 4x zoom in full HD 1080p video, 6x lossless zoom for 720p HD, and 12x zoom for nHD (640x360) video.

Pure View Pro specifications

Sensor: 41 megapixel CMOS image sensor, 1/1.2" image sensor format with 7728 x 5368 pixels, pixel size: 1.4 microns.

Lens: Carl Zeiss optics with F-number: f/2.4. Focal length: 8.02mm: 35mm equivalent focal length: 26mm @ 16:9 and 28mm @ 4:3. Construction: 5 elements in 1 group. All lens surfaces are aspherical, partly extreme aspheric, one high refractive index, low-dispersion glass mould lens.

Focus range: 15 cm – Infinity (throughout the zoom range).

Shutter: Mechanical shutter with short shutter lag and ND8 (3 f-stops) neutral density filter

Processing: On-chip image processor performing image scaling with oversampling, giving lossless (digital) zoom: 4x for full HD 1080p video with on-chip video processor performing image resolution processing with over 1 billion pixels per second enabling the use of all pixels for improved image noise and dynamic range .

Do you need to know how to lose thigh fat? We all have different body shapes, and pear-shaped women are more prone to having thigh fat than others. However, this doesn’t mean that anyone else is immune to the horrible title “thunder thighs”. If you feel unhappy with your thighs and want to know how to lose thigh fat, there are several steps you can take to focus on losing weight around your legs. Losing weight around your legs is not only aesthetically pleasing, but it’d be healthier for your legs: Chafing and extra weight for your legs to carry around isn’t good. Read on for 8 Fantastic Tips on How to Lose Thigh Fat...

1. WALK BRISKLY

Don’t just stroll when getting around to places, walking briskly is another way to lose thigh fat that doesn’t require any special effort. Power-walking burns calories and trims down fat in areas more than just your legs.

2. CYCLE

Cycling is another great form of exercise that works your legs, especially your thighs. This tip on how to lose thigh fat requires you to buy/use a bike, or go to the gym. However, it would be worth it as you could also use it to save money on public transport or driving, which is also better for the environment. Cycling builds stamina, endurance and is a great toning device for your legs!

3. EAT HEALTHY

Eating the right sorts of food will help raise your health and reduce fatty intake. A diet with a low calorie intake will obviously help reduce fat, but make sure you don’t cut out carbohydrates and other food that are essential in giving you energy to exercise.

4. SQUATS WHILE HOLDING WEIGHTS

This sounds horrid and strenuous but is one of the most effective ways to lose thigh fat. Grab some manageable weights in each hand (a bottle of 500ml water would do), bend your knees with your back straight at a 90 degree angle and repeat. Do this slowly and carefully, until you feel your thighs burn! Do this regularly and expect toned leg muscles in no time...

5. DRINK LOTS OF WATER

Drinking water aids your metabolism and flushes out any mild toxins in your body. Dehydration is a huge source of low metabolism and health because your liver needs water to convert fat into energy. One tip is to drink water even when you don’t feel thirsty, because thirst is a sign that you are already dehydrated!

6. CLIMB STAIRS

If it’s conceivable, avoid taking the elevator and climb stairs wherever you go to help lose thigh fat. This raises your metabolism and works your thigh muscles. This is a simple tip which doesn’t require you to drastically go out of your way to do, and is a great way to tone your leg muscles. To be the most effective, it’s best to use a good technique. Lean a little forward from the hips and keep your back straight.

7. LEG EXTENSIONS

Another fantastic tip on how to lose thigh fat. This is easy but requires a leg extension machine. All you have to do is sit in the machine and extend your legs. Do this slowly as rigorous stretching can damage your muscles.

8. JOG

Jogging is a lot easier than running, and one of the best forms of cardio exercise. It burns fat and calories and is also beneficial for your whole body. However, jogging may eventually hurt your knees and ankles so make sure you have good shoes or run on grass. Generally the best time of day to jog is in the morning as there is more oxygen in the air which helps burn more calories.

Justin Bieber's Manliest Moments

2012-07-19T04:14:00.000-07:00

Justin Bieber has seen and done a lot of things since 2009, when he released his debut album My World and created a pop cultural phenomenon with each toss of his mop. Rolling Stone's latest cover story explores Bieber's position as the reigning man-child of pop, a superstar just barely out of his adolescence who's pulling in a lot of cash for a lot of people. Bieber, who turned 18 a few months ago, told the magazine, "I feel like I carry myself in a more manly way. I don't carry myself as a boy." While Bieber has yet to establish himself as the paragon of masculinity, he's actually on the right track. Though he makes headlines for whipping his chrome Batmobile down California highways and allegedly shoving nosy photographers, he's actually leagues more mature than most full-grown men — none of whom have had to deal with puberty in the public eye.

The Songs of Summer 2012

2012-07-18T09:59:00.000-07:00

Justin Bieber's "Boyfriend"
Justin Bieber played right into the arms of his adoring fanbase with his biggest hit yet, "Boyfriend," which brilliantly offers the hypothetical situation that all Beliebers have dreamed of at least once: "If I was your boyfriend..." Instant hit. It's also teaching teens to be classy with that line about fondue

Rihanna's
"Where Have You Been?"
The straight dance track "Where Have You Been" would have been a summer sensation on its own, but it's been significantly bolstered by the body paint Rihanna sports in its steamy music video. Wearing very little clothing continues to be a great career move for this woman.

Nicki Minaj's
"Beez in the Trap" feat. 2 Chainz
Nicki Minaj's "Starships" is everywhere these days, but her low key single featuring 2 Chainz better showcases her talent. The Harajuku Barbie doesn't have much room to show off her rhymes these days now that she's pumping out club bangers with David Guetta.

Usher's "Scream"
Though Usher's searing Diplo-produced single "Climax" is arguably his best-ever work, the Max Martin dance hit "Scream" serves up the exact brand of fist-pumping fun one expects from a syrupy summer hit .

Grouplove's
"Tongue Tied"
Grouplove, one of the happiest bands in existence, actually released its joyful hit "Tongue Tied" last summer. Both the song and its party-gone-awry music video have steadily gained steam over the past several months, as the track hit No. 1 on the Alternative Songs chart in June.

Luke Bryan's
"Drunk on You"
When a country music star wants to make a big summer splash, all he has to do is throw down a few alcohol and truck references. Released in February, the song really hit its stride in June thanks to lyrics like, "Hey, I'm a little drunk on you / And high on summertime."

Calvin Harris'
"Let's Go" feat. Ne-Yo
Calvin Harris' current chart-climber "Let's Go" is not his best work, but no one really cares. It's just one of the better-produced examples of the Ibiza-flavored party music that's dominating mainstream radio right now. And it's great for a pool party.

Alex Clare's "Too Close"
British singer-songwriter Alex Clare was dropped from his Universal Island contract in the UK after his 2011 debut album The Lateness of the Hour failed to sell. In 2012, however, Clare's dubstep-influenced single "Too Close" was used in an Internet Explorer 9 commercial. It subsequently reached No. 9 on the UK charts.

Hot Chip's
"Look at Where We Are" (Major Lazer Remix)
Earnest dance music is shockingly rare, particularly in today's EDM-dominated pop landscape. Enter Hot Chip, champions of emotional honesty, whose single "Look at Where We Are" sounds even more remarkable with a dubby infusion courtesy of Major Lazer.

The Lumineers' "Ho Hey"

One of the summer's most surprising hits belongs to Denver natives the Lumineers, whose spirited folk track "Ho Hey" caught steam after it was prominently featured in a Bing commercial in June.

Bobby Womack's "Please Forgive My Heart"
Living legend Bobby Womack won over a new generation of fans with the June 2012 release of The Bravest Man in the Universe, which features this stunningly arranged lead single produced by Damon Albarn and Richard Russell. It's got lovely flaws.

G.O.O.D. Music's
"Mercy"
You'd think the world would be too distracted by the media blitz that is Kimye to pay attention to the music West and his G.O.O.D. Music colleagues are producing, but as is often the case with Kanye, the music somehow transcends the hype. It's some bizarro miracle.

Scissor Sisters'
"Let's Have a Kiki"
Though "Let's Have a Kiki" hasn't been released as an official single, it's the Scissor Sisters' biggest hit in years, thanks in part to an ultra-fabulous fan-made video comprised of snippets of the gayest moments in pop culture. For those not in the know, a "Kiki" is "a party, for calming all your nerves."

Pink's
"Blow Me (One Last Kiss)"
Leave it to Pink to offer the summer's cheekiest song title with "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)." Naturally, it's packed full of dirty words, including a chorus that includes the lines, "You think I'm just too serious / I think you're full of s**t." Well said, well said.

Frank Ocean's
"Thinkin Bout You"
Though Frank Ocean's "Thinkin Bout You" has been percolating on the web for over a year, the singer's untouchable falsetto reached a number of new fans when it was officially released to radio in May 2012. Ocean's debut album, channel ORANGE, is already one of the summer's biggest critical and commercial hits.

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs'
"Tapes and Money"
Chances are you haven't heard of Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, aka Orlando Higginbottom, but if you're at all interested in expertly crafted, darkly romantic dance tracks, this song is a must.
