Last month I received a package from Raw Spice Bar, containing their September Argentine Spice Box.

Raw Spice Bar is a monthly subscription service that sends spices to your door starting at just $8 each month. In your kit you'll receive an introductory card explaining the spice theme for the month, three different spice blends (or kits) and three recipe cards to give you fresh new ideas to try your new spice kits with.
All the spices are freshly ground before packaging, so they're fresh and full of flavor.

The September Argentine Spice Box contained the following three spice kits:
- Dark Coffee & Chiles
- Chipotle Smoked Salt
- Sun Dried Tomato Pizza

The included recipes sounded great (shown above) but we tried them out in our own way, and (spoiler) we loved the results!

First we tried the Dark Coffee & Chiles blend, which we used as a dry rub on thin steaks. The coffee flavor was amazing - I was unsure at first, but even my husband asked to try something with coffee again.

I seasoned some tilapia with the Chipotle Smoked Salt, and it gave it a smokey spicy flavor. We used the seasoning on half and our regular seasoning on the other half of the batch, and the half with the Chipotle Smoked Salt was eaten up much more quickly by the whole family. A real winner!

Finally was the Sun Dried Tomato Pizza - which I admit was more difficult for me to come up with an idea for. Hubby did not want to try the pizza recipe included (as much as I thought it sounded tasty) so I had to do some thinking. He actually doesn't like pasta sauce very much - so my idea was to use it as a dry tomato sauce. I made bowtie pasta and sliced steak on top, and sprinkled it with the Sun Dried Tomato Pizza spice kit, giving it an Italian tomato taste without the mess of red sauce. It was delicious!

In my opinion, this monthly kit is well worth the cost. Spices are expensive, and when you want to try something new it can be difficult to try and piece the right spices together. Raw Spice Bar is both affordable and easy to use - especially with the included recipe cards, you can make meal ideas even easier.

First Impressions of the Stella & Chewy's 30 Day Raw Challenge! #chewyinfluencer

It's been a couple weeks since I started Venus on the Stella and Chewy's 30 Day Raw Challenge, and I'm so excited to share our first impressions update with you today!

The transition into Stella and Chewy's Freeze Dried Dinner was pretty painless. I tried portioning her new food and old food to let Venus adjust slowly to her new food, but she wouldn't have any of that - she wanted Stella and Chewy's! I actually have a small amount of her old food left that she will not eat, because she'd rather have freeze-dried raw. I guess I can't say that I blame her...

Aside from her gusto while eating, the next noticeable change in Venus during this challenge has been her stools. She went from having three to six soft poops a day, to having one or two firm and small stools each day. She's not as gassy anymore either.

More recently, I've noticed her coat was getting much more shiny. She went through a short shedding phase and lost a lot of courser fur, but she's so smooth right now!

I think my favorite difference so far is how much more active Venus is. She's gone from a lazy little lap dog, to a dog who is excited for her daily walks and wants to run around outside. She's getting older every day (she's eight now) and seeing her lethargic is really saddening - but Stella and Chewy's has perked her right up!

I'll have a final update for you all in another week or two, after Venus has completed the Stella and Chewy's 30 Day Raw Challenge. So far I'm very impressed!

ZiwiPeak Good-Dog Treats Review #ChewyInfluencer

During the month of June, while taking the Stella and Chewy's 30 Day Raw Challenge, Venus also had a chance to try out some yummy raw treats from ZiwiPeak - curtesy of Chewy.com.

ZiwiPeak food and treats are sourced and manufactured in New Zealand. What I love even more about ZiwiPeak is that they use their own manufacturing facility, so there's no cross contamination, and they are personally watching over their products as they're moving through the facility.

Good-Dog Treat comes in three different flavors; Venison, Lamb, and Beef - as well as chew bones. Venus received the Venison variety to try.

The ingredients consist of air-dried venison meat along with lecithin (to keep the meat chewably soft) and a few other natural additives to help taste and preservation.

These treats come in relatively small sizes, but are also soft and easy to tear if you have a smaller dog.

Venus prefers them whole, and waits patiently for these special savory treats.

ZiwiPeak Good-Dog Treats get a 4/4 - two thumbs up from mom and two paws up from Venus.

Venus Has Started The Stella & Chewy's 30 Day Raw Challenge! #chewyinfluencer

There was a slight delay in our start-up with this challenge but, from now through the middle of July, Venus will be transitioning to and eating only Stella and Chewy's Freeze Dried Dinners.

Our box arrived from Chewy.com - as they are so generously sponsoring this challenge - and Venus knew it meant something good was at the door. She managed to jump right in the box and investigate! Of course I had to pop a bag open and let her sample...

Stella and Chewy's Freeze Dried Dinners come in easy to store bags that are even easier to serve up at meal time. The freeze dried patties weigh about .4oz each - very lightweight, and easy to break apart.

There is something so satifying about looking at a bag of dog food and being able to recognize whole food ingredients. The Stella and Chewy's Freeze Dried Dinner Pattys have meat at the first three ingredients, and continues to list many vegetables, fruits, vitamins and minerals. This is a food I feel very confident feeding my baby girl for the next month.

The patties can also be broken up into a bowl with water added - 1/4 cup of water for every two patties - to rehydrate the freeze dried meat. This is really helpful to make sure Venus is getting enough water in her diet. She's generally more concerned with meat vs water.

Venus will eat about 7 patties daily.

So.. first impressions?

I think this will be a fun 30 days. I can't wait to see what changes this challenge makes for Venus.

Venus isn't the pup she once was, and with her age comes complications with her health. Dry food has become a bit more difficult for her to digest, so I've eased her into more wet food and have been using more raw and home-cooked meals as well. I was happy to have received the Natural Balance LID (Limited Ingredient Diets) Sheds Wet Dog Food this month for Venus to try out.

The Natural Balance Limited Ingredient line includes several flavors in different varieties including shreds, canned wet food, treats, and dry food.

Venus received the LID Shreds Chicken & Sweet Potato Formula in Broth. I personally love that the ingredients are natural and wholesome enough that it still looks exactly like chicken with bits of sweet potato.

For the past week Venus has been trying out a variety of Cesar dog food flavors that can be found in a new Club Variety Cube containing four different flavors - all four of which we received from Chewy.com.

The Cesar Club Variety Cube contains six each of the following flavors: Beef in Meaty Juices, Filet Mignon Flavor in Sauce, Porterhouse Steak Flavor in Meaty Juices, and Grilled Chicken Flavor in Sauce - for a total of 24 trays, and is available on Chewy for $17.72 (or less if you enroll in auto-delivery).

Cesar is, in my opinion, a pretty common and well known dog food brand, and is also the first brand of wet food we introduced to Venus when we first brought her home. They offer a great variety of flavors, and is fortified with vitamins and minerals to ensure your dog is eating a completely balanced nutritious diet.

Each tray comes ready to eat, just remove the foil lid and serve. Unless you have a spoiled baby, like Venus, then you'll probably want to flip it out onto a plate, which is also easy.

Venus loved the gravy and the flavors of all four varieties in this pack. Cesar has really done it right with these flavors and even though we need to mash it up for our ~~spoiled brat~~ precious baby, it's relieving to know that she's enjoying such a balanced cuisine.

For the past couple weeks Venus has been trying out the Gourmet Carnivore Canned Dog Food by Tiki Cat, which we received from Chewy.

The Tiki Cat Gourmet Carnivore comes in six different flavors; Beef & Liver, Beef Liver & Chicken, Chicken with Turkey, Chicken & Liver, Beef Liver & Lamb, and Chicken with Duck. Venus received the Beef and Liver variety.

Tiki Cat Gourmet Carnivore is grain free, gluten free, made with real meats, carbohydrate free, flour free, starch free, contains added vitamins and minerals, and is great for all life stages. All varieties of this dog food match a natural prey diet containing 55% protein, 35% fat and zero carbs.

There is a lot of liquid in the can when you first open it, and personally this is great because it gets extra fluids into Venus and she loves wet food with a "gravy" to lap up vs a brick of wet food.

It mixes up perfectly when you dump it into a bowl, and reveals tiny chunks that are soft and easy to eat - even for small mouths.

Tiki Cat Gourmet Carnivore "Beef & Liver" Canned Dog Food was a huge hit with Venus! She's actually never eaten wet food so well before - there was no need to heat it up slightly or top it with cheese to draw her in. She loved the smell and the taste, and even begs for more each morning now!

February is Pet Dental Health Month & to celebrate (albeit late, due to a illness filling our household for the past month) I'm sharing reviews for two different treats for dogs that will help you take care of your fur babies teeth all year long!

Today I'm sharing my second review, Brush Bones from Merrick. This was sent to us, to try and share our experience with you, from Chewy.

Merrick Lil' Brush Bones come in three different sizes; Mini, Lil', and Big - to fit the needs of most sizes of dogs. Venus received the size Lil' for dogs 15-25 pounds.

Lil' Brush Bones are grain free and gluten free - which is great because I know they won't aggravate Venus' allergies. They contain alfalfa and parsley to help freshen breath, and their texture cleans teeth and gums. These bones are also Made in the USA!

Venus loves these all natural chews, making it easy to keep her teeth clean between brushing all year round.

For the month of January we were busy welcoming the New Year by trying new things. One of those things is a new healthy treats sent to us by Chewy.com from Natural Balance.

Natural Balance offers two varieties in a line called Wild Pursuit Lung Bites; Lamb and Venison. Venus has been trying their Wild Pursuit High Protein Lamb Lung Bites, which are made from 100% natural New Zealand Dehydrated Lamb Lung without the addition of any artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. They are nearly as natural as you can get without feeding completely raw meat to your lucky pup!

These treat are both grain and gluten free, are high in protein, contain less than 8 calories per piece, break up easily for smaller dogs, and are made right here in the United States.

Directions: Masques are single use. After cleansing, place the masque over the entire face, gently smoothing the fabric onto skin. Leave the masque on for 10 minutes allowing skin to absorb the potent brighteners. After 10 minutes, remove and discard the masque, massaging excess solution into the skin. Follow with a moisturizer. For best results, use with Exuviance® OptiLight products.

Performance: The Pigment Lifting Masque from Exuviance comes in a single-use foil envelope. The mask itself has a very light scent, and is blue in color. The essence is very dry - this made it a little difficult for the mask to adhere to my face properly. Also, because of the dryness, the mask barely lasted the 10 minutes recommended on the packaging.

Verdict: Even though this mask was dry, and dried out completely very quickly, it did do a nice job brightening my hyper-pigmentation. These results were temporary, however, but with continued use there might be a more permanent effect. I definitely think these are nice before a special event.

When a child starts school, daycare, or any activity with other children, a number of concerns cross a parents' mind. One of my biggest concerns was my child bringing home illnesses that would take out our whole family, and another was him bringing home lice. I had never dealt with lice when I was a child, so it is something that does scare me a bit since I'm not familiar with how to treat it. It was like someone was reading my mind when So Cozy reached out and offered to send me their 3-Step Lice Scaring System for kids.

So Cozy: Boo! Lice Scaring Shampoo, Conditioner & Spray

Purpose: "To Scare Away Lice, Naturally." The Boo! Lice Scaring System uses a special blend of natural ingredients that keep lice away.

To Use: Shampoo: To help prevent lice, massage into wet hair and rinse. No need to repeat. Follow with step 2, boo! Conditioner. Use it daily! Conditioner: To help prevent lice, after using Boo! Shampoo, massage a dollop of Boo! Conditioner through hair and scalp. Wait 30 seconds. Rinse. Follow with Boo! Spray for best results. Spray: To help prevent lice, generously spritz onto wet or dry hair daily. Apply more around nape of neck and behind ears—the spots lice like most. For best results, use with Boo! Performance: Each product has a light scent from the natural extracts and ingredients added, but there is no fragrance added to any of the products. Each product is safe to use for children, but adults may use them too. For prevention, I use the shampoo and conditioner on my sons' scalp once a week - lice prefer a clean environment, and the natural oils produced by the scalp help keep them away. Bug doesn't get buildup on his scalp yet, so I just rinse his head with water the rest of the week unless another shampoo is necessary. I spray his hair daily, with a light mist, just for prevention. He doesn't have long hair so I can't say if it helps with detangling, but it seems to make both his and my hair soft! As far as I can tell, from the past month of use, this is an excellent prevention system, and hopefully we never have to find out how it works to get rid of lice!

Treats! They're Venus' favorite food, but also the biggest part of her diet that we watch (aside from measuring out her food...). Something I can really appreciate, are treats designed for small dogs that take the guess-work out of how much of a treat she can have or how many per day because of her size or weight. That's something that I like about Wellness Petite Dog Treats.

Venus received the Turkey, Pomegranate & Ginger formula to try from Chewy.

They are grain-free so I know they won't aggravate Venus' allergies, and at only 4 calories per treat I know they're safe for her to have a couple each day while she's on her diet.

These treats are the perfect size for small dogs with tiny mouths, and are also great training treats!

Wellness TruFood Tasty Pairings [Review]

Venus always loves to try new foods, and anything with gravy is generally a huge hit. I was so excited when Chewy sent her some Wellness TruFood Tasty Pairings to try out as a supplement to her dry food.

Wellness is a brand our family knows and trusts when it comes to pet food and treats. They have gone through a lot of changes over the years (as a brand) but the quality of their dry and canned foods have been consistent for us, so I felt confident trying this out with Venus.

The food itself smells like real meat, and has a nice amount of the gravy that Venus loves. There are also soft chunks of pumpkin mixed in that adds some nice digestive benefit.

Zukes Mini Naturals Dog Treats [Review]

A while ago Venus received some Zukes Mini Naturals dog treats from Chewy. These treats come in several different flavors, and all are the perfect size for small dogs, and to be used as training treats for any size dog.

Venus received the Roasted Chicken Recipe, which smells kind of like chicken, but they must taste great because she loves them.

Zukes treats are made in the USA, which is a big factor for us when we decide what treats are ok for Venus to eat.

Chicken is the first ingredient, which is another thing our family looks for.

Zukes treats are the perfect size for Venus.

They're even great for play!
