I wanted to talk to all of you about a great show I've recently discovered called The Big Bang Theory. Yes, I know I'm a little late to the party,

as it's more than halfway through the fifth season, but still.

Awesome, and newly discovered by me.

I may have recently gone on a giant Big Bang binge and watched every single episode, from the first one until the last one aired. That's 105 episodes (almost 5 full seasons!!) in only about two weeks.

I'm honestly sad to be out of episodes.

So the premise is fairly simple: hot girl and typical blonde Penny (Kaley Cuoco), a waitress and aspiring actress, moves into the apartment across the hall from intelligent, über nerdy,

Sheldon, Leonard, and Penny.

and incredibly socially awkward physicists Dr. Leonard Hoffstadter (Johnny Galecki) and Dr. Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons). Also featured are their two nerdy friends, astrophysicist Dr. Rajesh Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar) and aerospace engineer Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg). Recently, two more members have been added to the cast: Dr. Bernadette Rostenkowski (Melissa Rauch), Howard's fiancée, a microbiologist and part-time waitress, and Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Balik), a neurobiologist who is sort-of dating Sheldon, in a totally-plationic-sometimes-awkward way.

The socially awkward nerds all have their own weird idiosyncrasies and traits. Sheldon is borderline obsessive-compulsive, adheres to strict routines, and has a very basic understanding of irony, sarcasm, and humour. He also has no empathy and frequently vocalizes his belief that he is superior to those around him. He also has absolutely no social skills. Leonard is the typical Star Trek-loving, D&D-playing nerd. He falls for Penny in the first episode, and a great portion of the series revolves around he and Penny, or he and his other love interests. Howard is a Jewish mama's boy who fancies himself a ladies' man. He wears bright and colourful outfits straight out of the 60s and always wears skinny jeans and unusual belt buckles. Engineering. He excels at scaring women or making them uncomfortable. Rajesh (Raj) is an Indian food-hating Hindu from New Delhi. He exhibits a case of selective mutism, in which he cannot speak to women that outside of his family, unles he is under the influence of alcohol or various prescriptions that he tests out. Although he has a few hook-ups, he at no point has a steady, long-term girlfriend, and it is implied many times that he may be gay. Their wackyness and general failure at wooing the opposite sex contrasts with their excellence in their fields.

Most of the episodes are concentrated on some nerdy aspect, along with their attempt at hitting on women. Leonard spends the best part of two seasons attempting to date Penny, who can be seen with a different guy every few episodes. Leonard's other long-term relationship is with Raj's sister, Priya, which falls apart once she cheats on him after she returns to India. Penny eventually introduces Howard to Bernadette, who works part-time as a waitress while she finishes her PhD. in microbiology. Currently, they are engaged. Sheldon is strangely asexual, however, he begins seeing Amy, his girl-friend-who-is-not-his-girlfriend.

The girls, for their part, are fairly normal. Penny, the original female, is an aspiring actress who works as a waitress at the Cheesecake Factory while trying out for parts. She's from Nebraska, and jokes are often made (some by her, some by others) of her backwoods, small-town, corn-husking upbringing. She has no problems getting guys, although after dating Leonard, she doesn't date as much anymore. Bernadette is a sweet, loving, slightly naïve scientist. She's engaged to Howard, and many of their fights stem from his reluctance to separate himself from his mother. Amy is the female version of Sheldon: awkward, strangely literal and not very good at social situations. Unlike Sheldon, however, Amy longs for regular social interactions, and goes out of her way to experience typical things, such as sleepovers and gossip. She refers to Amy as her bestie.

This has seriously become one of my new favourite shows. I don't want to go and on and on about, but I really do think everyone should watch it. And honestly, if you have nerds in your life, which many of us do, and you love them as much as I do, then you will definitely find this funny!! A lot of what they do or say reminds me of friends of mine, which may be why it's so hilariously good, in my opinion.

I plan to do another post sometime this week with my favourite moments so far. Maybe my top five?? It's gonna be hard to choose!!!

But seriously, if you haven't already, give it a shot. It's a great show!! And if you're anything like me, you will soon be singing the theme song all day. Sung by Canada's The Barenaked Ladies, it sets a great starts to each episode. It's soooooooo catchy!! I love it, and can listen to it over and over and over and over again. Watch the video below.

So I'm trying this blog out in Blogger. It's currently on Wordpress, but I'm not sure where to leave it.

I like the posting on Wordpress much better. It's easier to link to other blogs and put "Related Articles" in, as well as featured images and things like that. Also, I find I like categories and tags, and there is a difference. I also find that it is easier to find blogs and see random posts. The sucky part is that there really isn't much customizing. I'd have to buy a theme in order to be able to change some things.

Blogger, however, is much easier to customize. I've had my personal blog/diary on Blogger for a long time now and it's only now that I'm finding how easy it is to customize. I'm sure you'll see changes on this site often, and I apologize for that, but I'm trying to get it to look exactly the way I want it. Sadly, I really miss categories and tags. I guess labels works the same way, but I like having two. Also, I feel really limited when I write, since there's nothing else I can do on the posting area. That's a lot of white space on the right. Maybe some posting features would be good?? Or maybe put the labels on the side so I don't feel like I'm limited and there's wasted space.

I know, picky and retarded. I'm okay with that.

Well, we'll see how it goes. I'll decide soon. For now, I'll prolly just mirror posts on both sites.
