United States Marine Corps. Sgt. Shamar Thomas from Roosevelt, NY went toe to toe with the New York Police Department.

An activist in the Occupy Wall Street movement, Thomas voiced his opinions of the NYPD police brutality that had and has been plaguing the #OWS movement.

Thomas is a 24-year-old Marine Veteran (2 tours in Iraq), he currently plays amateur football and is in college.

Thomas comes from a long line of people who sacrifice for their country: Mother, Army Veteran (Iraq), Step father, Army, active duty (Afghanistan), Grand father, Air Force veteran (Vietnam), Great Grand Father Navy veteran (World War II).

Iceland Volcano: New Eruption Could Dwarf 2010

A new volcano could pose a threat larger than last year's air-traffic paralysing eruption in Iceland, according to experts.

Eyjafjallajokul erupted in April 2010, causing widespread travel disruption

Seismologists are nervously watching rumblings beneath a much more powerful Icelandic volcano call Katla, which could spew an ash cloud that will make the 2010 eruption look tame by comparison.

Brooding over rugged moss-covered hills on Iceland's southern edge, Katla is a much bigger beast than the nearby Eyjafjallajokul volcano, which spewed ash all over Europe for several weeks in an eruption that local scientist Pall Einarsson describes nonetheless as 'small.'

Need a Flight? Just Google It

When Brittany Laughlin needed to fly from Chicago to San Francisco last month, she tried something new. Instead of visiting an online travel agency or an airline website, she headed over to Google Flight Search, the newest and most controversial travel site to launch since Orbitz opened its doors a decade ago.

Within a few seconds, Google showed her the perfect flight on American Airlines. She clicked on the link, which took her to the airline's page to book a ticket. "It was really clear and instantly showed results," says Laughlin, who runs a social media company in Chicago.

Google Flight Search is the result of the search engine giant's acquisition of ITA Software, a Cambridge, Mass., company whose technology powers many well-known travel sites, including American Airlines, Bing, Hotwire and Kayak.

There was some concern that the acquisition would harm competition, but the Justice Department eventually approved the purchase, with conditions, earlier this year.

Japan Needs 10,000 Visitors and Will Pay for Them

In a serious move to boost tourism, Japan plans to offer FREE flights to 10,000 travelers to visit the country next year.

According to eTurboNews, travelers can apply online for free tickets and can specify the areas of the country they would most like to visit. At the moment, details such as available destinations and the drawing system have yet to be finalized.

Glimpse of North Korea - The Big Picture

North Korea has long been enigmatic - especially to the West.

An elaborate cult of personality created around the ruling Kim family permeates both the cultural and political lives of the nation. The world's most militarized nation, it has been developing nuclear weapons and a space program. In 2002, President George Bush labeled the country part of an "axis of evil," primarily due to its aggressive military posture but also because of its abysmal human rights record.

North Korea has long maintained close relations with the People's Republic of China and Russia. In an attempt to ameliorate the loss of investments due to international sanctions over its weapons program, North Korean officials have initiated a tourism push, focused on Chinese visitors. Still, every travel group or individual visitor is constantly accompanied by one or two "guides" who normally speak the mother language of the tourist. While some tourism has increased over the last few years, Western visitors remain scarce.

We are in a food emergency, and don't even know it!

I knew something was up when years ago Bill Gates started investing multi-millions - along with the Rockefeller Foundation, Monsanto Corporation, Syngenta Foundation and the Government of Norway, into a "doomsday seed bank" - Svalbard Global Seed Vault is the official name.

Corporate entities will have a backup copy of our global biodiversity, and the plan is to have food available in case of a nuclear holocaust, asteroid strike, or global warming.

This is really neat!! The internet giant's new art project.

Harnessing the power of streetview, cameras able to shoot billions of pixels, and video, Google has begun archiving art of the walls of 17 of the world's most iconic galleries.

Names such as the Uffizi, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Tate have all allowed Google teams to document their galleries for the last two years, to create a cultural hub billions around the world can plug into.

And the project is only just beginning . . .

Part of this, we get. Part of it … well, you tell us.

It's easy to understand slapping around a vending machine that fails to provide its paid-for goods. You have your mouth all set and your money all loaded in, but it just sits there holding onto your stuff.

We're not saying it's right, but a certain amount of violence is a natural reaction to getting ripped off by an impersonal, uncaring inanimate object. But Michael Aguiar displayed a range of emotions that we hope and pray are unprecedented in the universe of human-vending machine interaction.
