"MSConfig" is the executable name of the Microsoft System Configuration Utility that provide users an easy way to manage Windows components. Most often, this utility is found very useful to control Windows startup fuctions.

The utility displays components found from these following startup sources:

*System.ini

*Win.ini

*Services *Startup

To start the System Configuration Utility in windows xp: click "Start" > "Run", and type "msconfig" and press Enter:
To start in windows 7 or vista : just type "msconfig" in search

I. "GENERAL"

- "Normal Startup" this should be selected as default, which allows Windows to load all the available drivers and services.
- "Diagnostic Startup" - only the basic drivers and services will be loaded on startup. Most application services like Networking, Plug and Play, Error Reporting services are disabled.
- "Selective Startup" - Select particular service and startup components.

II. "SYSTEM.INI", "WIN.INI", and "BOOT.INI"

"system.ini", "win.ini", and "boot.ini" are the main components for Windows to startup, so be careful while you're making any changes here. Most of the times, you don't need to mess around with these components since they are system components like device drivers, fonts, bootup source, etc., You can configure the boot settings, if you are using more than one operating system.

III. "Services"

This tab shows a list of all services available on the machine as well as their status. You can disable/enable the services by uncheck/check on the check box of the service's name.

IV. "Startup"

Norton Ghost is one of the best commercial disk cloning program with a history dating back to 1996. There have been different versions since then and the product lineup is split into a consumer version and business version. For this example I am using the business version Ghost Solution Suite 2.0 or commonly known Ghost 11.

Getting Started- making the Ghost bootable startup CD

1.GO to Start > All Programs > Symantec Ghost > Ghost Boot Wizard. Select “Standard Ghost Boot Package” and click NEXT.

2.Skip this screen and click next, we will not be using these Peer-to-Peer options.

3.Use the default PC-Dos option, and click next.

4.Choose the type of client. Ghost.exe is the file you need to include here.

5.Click on the checkboxes to override the USB and Firewire BIOS settings to ensure full access to these devices. You can use this to access ghost from a USB device.

6.Choose “create iso image”, click browse and select a location and name it.

7. Now you can use the saved ISO file on to a CD. You can burn the ISO image to a CD using any of your Image burner program and clone any number of pc's.

Create a trail image
1.Open Paint, click file and open an image.
2.Right-click on the image and select "Select All"3.Now hold the "Shift" key and move the image around. The image will be drawn with trail of 10x Zoom

2.Windows Paint lists out the zoom options from 1x to 8x, but secret is you can zoom up to 10x...

Create a log
1.Open Notepad
2.On the first line, type in ".LOG" (without quotes) then press Enter for a few line.
3.Now type some text and save the file.
4.When you open the Notepad next time, it automatically adds a time/date log in the file and everytime you open the file.

Text becomes unreadable
1.Open Notepad.
2.On the first line, type in "dont eat the donut" (without quotes) then save the file. Note: the file should be one line, like the text above.
3.Now, open the same file. You'll notice the text becomes unreadable squares. (you can try this with different text with the same format and length).

This seems to be a problem for many, while browsing the Internet you may come across ‘page not found’, this may be due to several reason, one of course due to changing of your PC’s IP address. So, how do you solve this.

Instructions

1.Click on the "Start" button

2.If you're using Windows xp type "cmd" in the Run box and click on "OK." else if you’re using Windows 7 search for cmd and enter.A window with a command prompt appears. It resembles the old DOS operating system.

3.Type "ipconfig /release" and press "Enter." This releases your computers current IP addresses.

4.Now type "ipconfig /renew" and press "Enter." This command assigns your computer a new set of IP addresses.

5.Type "Exit" and press "Enter" to close the window. You computer now has a new IP address.

Tips & Warnings

*If the above steps doesn’t resolve your connectivity issue, try to unplugging your modem or router for a few seconds and then repeat the process.

*Note that you should be using DHCP (Obtain IP address automatically)in the internet properties.The command "ipconfig" reveals the IP address assigned to your computer. If you have more than one connection to your computer (i.e. having both a wireless and LAN network card) the command "ipconfig /all" will reveal all your assigned IP addresses.

1. Start Internet Explorer as your browser, open up Internet Explorer 8

2. Once open, click on the "Tools" from the toolbar and select "Internet Options".

3.This should now default with the "General" tab selected.

4. In the "Browsing Internet" section, click "Delete" button. In the pop-up that appears, select all areas and hit "Delete".

5. Wait for the computer to completely process this, and once it finished, and close the "Internet Options" menu and resume your activity.

*A new feature available to Internet Explorer Version 8 consist of InPrivate securty mode. This consists of three feature: InPrivate Browsing, InPrivate Blocking, and InPrivate Subscription. How to Delete Your Browser's History

Usually no one likes someone seeing his/her browser history? Sometimes being able to erase browser history can come in handy, especially when your on a shared computers. These step may me pretty helpful for you to erase all your history from the Internet explorer .
Instruction

1.Click Start on the desktop.

2.Go to Settings ( for xp only, win7 users skip this step)

3.Click Control Panel.

4.Double-click Internet Options.

5.Make sure the General tab is selected.

6.Click Clear History in the History box.

7.Click OK when it asks you, want to delete all items in your history folder.

8.Click OK at the bottom of the General box to exit.

* Deleting the history will also delete all your cookies and saved passwords from your Internet explorer.

Instruction

1.Sign in to your Gmail account.

2.click Create a filter, Next to the Search button up top,

3.In the "Has the words" field, type for example 'before:2011/06/06'.it would archive all messages received prior to July 6 of this year. You can use any date you want, as long as it is in the format YYYY/MM/DD.

Click Next step.

4.Check the boxes "Skip the inbox (Archive it)," and "Also apply filter to ### conversations below." from the options.

5.Finally, click Create Filter. Depending on number of message in your inbox, the archiving process may take a minute or two.

Tips and warnings

*When it's done, your inbox should be smaller. Remember, you haven't lost anything; you've simply relocated the unwanted e-mail. Those messages will still appear in your Gmail search.
